Rare 1970s Bill Gibb Deep Pink Ombre Hand Dyed Silk Chiffon Dress w Fused Glitter Detailing

I Have A Question: Rare 1970s Bill Gibb Deep Pink Ombre Hand Dyed Silk Chiffon Dress w Fused Glitter Detailing

  • This is a beautiful example of Bill Gibbs work from the early 1970s.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Bill Gibb
  • Gibb was one of the most influential designers in 1970s Britain and his clothes were sought out and worn by the rich and famous. His work has a high fantasy element and he was crowned Designer of the Year in 1970. Much of his work verged on couture and he was unrelenting in striving for perfection.
  • The dress is made from a silk chiffon that has been dyed to a deep pink that gradually darkens and colour as it loves down both the top and skirt of the dress. I love the depth this creates and how it highlights the parts of the dress.
  • The sleeves start off wide as they come out from just above the waist. They narrow down to their ends from there.
  • The front and back dip into a V and the neckline is cut so that it sits wider across the shoulders. There is a little silk flower finished with sequins nestled at the base of the front V.
  • From just under the bust to the top of the hips the silk has been hand gathered and fitted for shape.
  • The skirt falls to the floor from there in a sweep of silk chiffon.
  • Pink glitter is fused onto the silk in a wide panel all the way around the lower skirt. This catches the light from every angle and as the perfect subtle touch of glitz.
  • Under the top layer of silk chiffon of the skirt is an inner lining in a pale silver blue. The two colours layered over each other adds an extra dimension to the skirt that is even better in person.
  • Iridescent round bubble buttons are the perfect finish on each cuff.
  • The dress is fully lined in a pale silver blue silk and closes with a side zipper with hook and eye along part of the bottom seaming of the arm just above the zipper going into the under part of the sleeve. Glass buttons on each cuff. I see a tiny repair under one arm.
  • There is no size tag present. Please go by the measurements listed below.

Cruise 2010 Christian Dior by John Galliano Runway Version in White Silk Chiffon Draped Dress

I Have A Question: Cruise 2010 Christian Dior by John Galliano Runway Version in White Silk Chiffon Draped Dress

  • This is an incredible white all silk chiffon version of Look 16 from the Dior Cruise 2010 collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
  • The dress is made out of a soft ivory silk chiffon that is feather light in weight and moves beautifully.
  • The chiffon has been gathered horizontally around the bust and inside the bodice there is built-in inner support. This part of the dress is opaque.
  • A wide panel of chiffon is angled over to one side so that it can be draped down and over the shoulder or gathered up on top of the shoulder. I love the versatility of this because it allows you to wear it how it suits you best. I think if you wanted a strapless look, you could also have it hang around and down one hip.
  • On the side opposite to the shoulder you have an expanse of bare skin showing and then at the shoulder you have the appearance of the chiffon panel being knotted into place with the ends falling down for a pretty added detailing.
  • The skirt falls from underneath the bust in two stacked layers of silk chiffon. Even with the two layers of silk the skirt has transparency to it which gives you the flexibility of wearing different options underneath to be as bare or covered as you wish.
  • I love how the back of the skirt curves around to trail out behind you. The double layer of chiffon and the added fabric allow it to move and float out around you as you move.
  • It is extraordinarily beautiful and a gorgeous piece of John Galliano for Dior.
  • The bodice area that you can see is more opaque is fully lined in a matching silk. The skirt is made of two stacked layers of chiffon. The dress closes with a hidden set side zipper. I see one tiny nick in the fabric near the vertical edge of the skirt. Please see the photo after the label shot. It is otherwise appears to have been unworn.
  • There was no size tag present. Please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition

Spring 2008 Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati Runway Look 35 Deep Pink Silk One Shoulder Dress

I Have A Question: Spring 2008 Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati Runway Look 35 Deep Pink Silk One Shoulder Dress

  • The twin of this dress was Look 35 on the Spring 2008 Yves Saint Laurent runway for Look 35.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Stefano Pilati
  • On the runway the dress was worn by Freja and it was also shot on Kate Moss that season.
  • Stefani said that he had been thinking of "goddesses and stars" for the evening pieces.
  • This was the strongest dress of the collection and I love having all of these reference photos for you because you can see just how beautiful this dress is on the body.
  • The dress is made out of a beautifully weighted silk that is cut on the bias. The colour is a deep fuchsia pink. That is a rich and lovely jewel tone.
  • The end entire dress falls from one shoulder. The sleeve on that side is kept simple, starting out wide from the body and then narrows at the cuff.
  • The front of the dress angles down on a curve and it does the same at the back. It is more fitted through the bust and curves past the waist.
  • The bias cut lets it skim and fall over the hips to highlight your curves.
  • The skirt falls from there and is made from seamed panels that give a nod to the thirties in their execution.
  • The skirt is very full and that, combined with the bias cut, give this incredible movement as you move. It  is an extremely sensual and sexy feeling dress once on.
  • I think this was one of the strongest dresses of his entire time at this label.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk and it closes with a hidden set zipper at the side. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition

Single sleeve: approx 24" and is 16" around the upper arms
Bust: 15-16.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12-13.5" flat across from side seam to side seam

Total Length: approx 61" from shoulder to front hem in the back extends another 7"

2010s Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri Coral Silk Chiffon Bow Dress w Shawl

I Have A Question: 2010s Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri Coral Silk Chiffon Bow Dress w Shawl

  • This is almost certainly from the early 2010s and is very similar to dresses we have had in the shop before from the 2010 and 2011 collections.
  • It was made under the creative direction of both Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
  • The dress is made out of a beautiful coral silk chiffon that is cut on the bias and flows over the body beautifully. The fabric choice keeps the dress very light in weight and gives it beautiful movement.
  • The entire top portion of the dress is finished in a series of soft gathers that highlight the shape of the bodice as it flows over you.
  • There are also these two fantastic soft bows that are made of the same silk as the body of the dress that sit along one side and add a pretty detail.
  • The straps extend out from the body to curve up and over the shoulders. All of the gathering that covers the bodice have been set on soft angles to follow the cut of the neckline.
  • It comes in softly at the waist and the very lower part of the bodice is set on an angle above the skirt This is very flattering on and highlights how it is swept up and into those bows even more.
  • The skirt falls from under there and widens out to a pretty fullness by the time it reaches the hem. I love how there is an extra gathering of the silk along the side that is sitting upwards on top of the hip.
  • The skirt has three full layers of silk and the draped side curves upwards just a touch and conceals an overlapped slit. So when you move a certain way you see a bit of a flash of bare leg.
  • The dress comes with a huge rectangle of matching silk that you can drape around your shoulders for the perfect finish.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching coral silk chiffon through the bodice. The skirt is made of three layers of silk and these act as the lining. There is a tiny bit of grubbiness/ tiny marks at the hem and a mark under one arm on the inside lining only. Please see the photo after the label shot. The dress closes with a hidden set side zipper. The colour is slightly softer in person.
  • Tagged a Valentino 8
  • Excellent condition with the minor note above.

Fantastic 1990s Azzedine Alaia Ribed Black Knit Mini Dress w Flared Skirt & Inner Boy Shorts

I Have A Question: Fantastic 1990s Azzedine Alaia Ribed Black Knit Mini Dress w Flared Skirt & Inner Boy Shorts

  • The dress dates to the early -mid 1990s (maybe the late 1980s).
  • It was made under the creative direction of Azzedine Alaia.
  • Azzedine Alaia pieces are always a delight to find. His knits were all self developed and are among the best out there. He started his career as a dressmakers assistant  and copied couture gowns for wealthy Tunisian clients. In 1957 he moved to Paris and worked for Christian Dior for a grand total of five days. He then moved to Guy Laroche and quietly started to get private commissions on the side. By 1960 he was doing mainly private work and within a few years established a small salon on the Left Bank where he continued designing privately. He stayed at that salon until 1984.
  • During this time period he also did private freelance work for other designers including Claude Montana, Thierry Mugler and even Yves Saint Laurent. It was not until 1981 that he launched his first official collection and by 1983 he had a boutique in Beverley Hills.
  • The French Ministry of Culture honoured him with the Designer of the Year award in 1985. In 1993 he decided that the established fashion show schedule was not for him and he stopped producing a new collection every season. Instead he showed when his collections were ready and continued to do so until his death in 2017.
  • This is a fantastic example of his earlier work and is still in fantastic condition.
  • The dress is made out of a ribbed cable knit fleece wool that has a small percentage of other components to help give it some stretch and support. This makes it sit beautifully over the body and hug your curves as his dresses are known for.
  • The neck is scooped and slightly squared off at the front and the shoulders are soft. From there the sleeves extend out over the arm and then the cuff flares out. I love the change in the design of the knit for the cuffs to add a little unexpected detail.
  • It skims over the bust and waist and then curves back out over the hips. The skirt starts just under the top of the hips and is cut short as it flares out around you. Many of his pieces had that bit of a skater skirt feel to them and this is a fabulous example of that.
  • The skirt has a slightly more scalloped ribbing than the knit of the body and the very bottom of the skirt changes once more to match the finish of the cuffs.
  • Hidden underneath the mini skirt is a pair of knit stretch boy shorts that snap into place underneath you.
  • These inner built-in shorts were a famous detail in his dresses and made wearing such short pieces without the fear of being exposed when you moved.
  • The dress is unlined with built-in shorts and closes with a hidden set back zipper. The shorts snap to close with three snaps. The knit does have some stretch and I have put the comfortable range when laying flat below.

I Have a Question

Superb Fall 2005 Richard Tyler Version of Runway Strapless Pale Blue & Ivory Silk Organza Dress

I Have A Question: Superb Fall 2005 Richard Tyler Version of Runway Strapless Pale Blue & Ivory Silk Organza Dress

  • The twin of this dress in an ivory walked the runway for the Fall 2005 collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Richard Tyler.
  • This is the actual dress that was worn by Brie Larson to the 2024 Creative Arts Emmys so has that amazing added modern provenance.
  • This colourway may have been a special order or more limited production piece. We love that the multiple photos show just how fantastic this is once on the body. We have a small clip of the dress Brie as she walked on stage on our Instagram, if you want to see it moving.
  • The dress is strapless with a full boned inner corset that holds the dress in place around you.
  • It is made from an inner brilliant turquoise coloured silk organza that was then covered with a pale greenish toned ivory silk organza over top. You can see how bright the inner blue is on the label shot. That layering of the two colours is integral to the final colour of the dress.
  • I love how he allowed the turquoise to peek out just to touch along the very edge of wherever there is a pleated seam. The workmanship to do this so perfectly for every single edge is almost unimaginable.
  • Intricate curving flat pleats start along the top of the bodice and then these curve over to one side where they become curving seams. As they run down and over the dress, each created panel expands and gets wider, creating the beautiful curving pattern over the dress. As these reach the hip area the pleats fully open and this is what creates the volume through the skirt.
  • The skirt falls to the floor from there to the floor. One side is cut so that it falls with more volume and it is also cut longer as it curves around to the back where it stands out beyond the hem. This creates that gorgeous trained feel that it has and you can see how beautiful this is in the reference photos.
  • The turquoise silk inner layer axe as the lining. The inner bodice is boned and an inner waist stay that hooks to close was added when it was lent to further help hold it in place. The dress closes with a hidden set side zipper. I see some light marks and grubbiness here and there on both layers of silk along the train hem.
  • Tagged a vintage Richard Tyler 8
  • Excellent condition with the minor note above

I Have a Question

Resort 2009 Valentino by Alessandra Facchinetti Presentation Look 16 Pastel Silk Organza Dress

I Have A Question: Resort 2009 Valentino by Alessandra Facchinetti Presentation Look 16 Pastel Silk Organza Dress

  • The twin of this gorgeous dress was presented for the Resort 2009 collection for Look 16.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Alessandra Facchinetti
  • Vogue noted that it was her third Valentino collection and for this one she "sketched a portrait of a lady in soft hues - pearl grey, icy white, and blush pink - punctuated, with pops of chartreuse and a rich fuchsia... Ruffles found their most elegant expression in organza gowns. Smartly paired with metallic flats these embrace the bodice before walking into the floor". There were three dresses presented in this similar cut - one in black, one in this dusty pastel gray green and one in a white. This was the more elaborate of the three.
  • The dress is made out of a pale pastel green-blue silk organza that is cut to be more fitted around the bodice and then flows in a cascade of ruffles over the skirt. The fabric choice keeps the dress light in weight and gives it beautiful movement.
  • The entire top portion of the dress is gathered in from the shoulders down and into the waist on curves that angle towards the centre. The straps are a touch wider as they curve over the shoulder and it comes in at the waist. The gathering and draping over the bodice is beautiful and detailed.
  • Edging the front neckline is a series of little raw edged bows that are held in place by a heavy application of hand applied beads, stones, rhinestones, sequins and metal thread. This follows the neckline all the way down to where it crosses and insert into the waist. There is a modesty panel that keeps it from being too low. If you did wish to have this have a full plunging feel it would be easy to have that adjusted/removed.
  • The skirt falls from under there and it is a little masterpiece of panelling and drape. The front panel is a lighter silk jersey and it is heavily gathered at the centre of the waist to fall and expand out as it near the floor. A matching panel to that runs down the centre of the back.
  • The side panels of the skirt are made of the organza and there are added panels of organza layered onto those to create those giant ruffles that you see falling down each side and around to the back. These fall all the way down to the hem and create that beautiful structure that you see in the photos. Because the organza is so light in weight when you move, everything moves around you beautifully.
  • This is an extraordinarily beautiful dress and I love its added provenance with its royal tie in.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching silk chiffon. The skirt has an additional two layers of silk chiffon under the top layer and these act as the lining. I see a tiny repair near where one ruffle is stitched to the side, but it's on the underneath so does not show. The dress closes with a hidden set side zipper.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements below.
  • Excellent condition

I Have a Question

Dreamy Spring 1984 Emanuel Ungaro Haute Couture Runway Ivory Applique Lace & Silk Dress

I Have A Question: Dreamy Spring 1984 Emanuel Ungaro Haute Couture Runway Ivory Applique Lace & Silk Dress

  • This is from the Fall 1989 Haute Couture collection
  • It was made under the creative direction of Emanuel Ungaro
  • The dress is made of out of a handmade embroidered lace in a deep ivory that sits on a silk chiffon base with a silk lining under that. Embroidered cut outs of a leaf and flower design have been added on top of the lace so the dress has a fabulous 3D feel and texture.
  • It would have been completely made by hand in the Paris Atelier.
  • At the front it is strapless with a more fitted and shaped bodice. Inside there is a built-in inner bodice that has hidden set internal boning and structure.
  • The flower part of the dress goes all the way to past the hips so you get this fantastic hourglass feel.
  • The waist comes in and then the dress curves back out over the hips. It narrows down a touch under that. Again adding to the hourglass feel of the dress.
  • A knife pleated silk skirt is set in underneath the bottom of the flower part to make up the lower portion of the dress. There are yards of fabric in this lower skirting that allow it to move beautifully around you when you walk. The back extends quite a bit for a train feel behind you.
  • The upper portion of the dress is fully lined in an ivory silk with the built-in corset as described above.
  • The dress was worn and loved. I have had it specialty cleaned but there are still marks and staining along the hem and on the skirt where it trails out behind you especially. I still see some grubbiness along the front of the hem as well. Because of the way it is constructed you could easily have the bottom portion replaced if this bothered you and its priced with that in mind. The pleating has softened. There are some loose threads here and there where the floral parts of the pattern connect to each other. It is in good condition overall. A bit of minor grubbiness around the inside edge of the bodice that is very minor but mentioned for accuracy.
  • The proper Haute Couture label present
  • It closes with a hand set back zipper and the flowers overlap and snap into place over it so it is hidden. An inner waist stay hooks to close. It is completely made by hand to Haute Couture standards.
  • There is no sized tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
  • The upper part of the dress is in great overall condition and the skirt in good condition with the flaws as mentioned above

Amazing 1970s Yves Saint Laurent Silk Ivory Full Tent Dress w Belt, Ruffled Edges & Full Sleeves

I Have A Question: Amazing 1970s Yves Saint Laurent Silk Ivory Full Tent Dress w Belt, Ruffled Edges & Full Sleeves

  • This is a gorgeous early-mid 1970s YSL piece.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
  • The dress is so romantic and dreamy feeling. I love that you have the option of wearing it full and open in more of a tent/ caftan dress style or you can use its matching belt to cinch in the waist as much as you wish.
  • The dress is made out of a feather light ivory silk that has a touch of crispness to it.
  • The sleeves are magnificent. Each is set high into the shoulder and gathered along the top. They puff out around the upper shoulder and then narrow down to a ruffle cuff with a single button and loop.
  • The neck is set a touch wider across and the dress is gathered into the neck line down the centre of both the front and back.
  • From there the dress falls wide and open to the floor. I love that the back skirt is cut a touch longer than the front. It gives it this beautiful sweeping feel behind you. The very bottom hem is finished with a ruffle to pick up the ruffle on the sleeves.
  • The dress comes with its original matching wide tie belt in the same fabric. You can tie the belt right under the bust for a more empire feel or you can cinch it around your natural waist. I love the versatility of this.
  • The dress is unlined and has no closures. It simply slips on to wear. Each cuff buttons with a single button and loop and the belt is original to the dress. I think the fabric has softened to touch as it has aged but it is still in beautiful condition
  • Tagged a vintage YSL 36 but the loose and easy cut should fit a variety of sizes.
  • Excellent condition

Sleeves: 26.5" and are 18" around the upper arm
Shoulders: approximately 15.5"
Bust: to 20" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist-hips: open
Total length: 58" from top of shoulder to front hem, and the back extends another 4" beyond that.

Modern Sizing Equivalent: XS-MED

I Have a Question

Exceptional 1959 Balenciaga Haute Couture Strapless Ivory Silk Chiffon w Metallic Embroidery

I Have A Question: Exceptional 1959 Balenciaga Haute Couture Strapless Ivory Silk Chiffon w Metallic Embroidery

  • The dress dates to the 1959 Balenciaga Couture collection. Based on the information provided by the Balenciaga archives there is a possibility that it was made in 1960.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Cristobal Balenciaga.
  • I was able to date this dress after speaking with the Balenciaga archives and they confirmed that this was 1959–1960. They hold its twin in yellow. They do not allow sharing of photos from their archives but I have seen the photos so know they exist with them.
  • The dress would have been made completely by hand and the Paris atelier.
  • The bodice is strapless and completely embroidered and covered in silver thread and prong set glass rhinestones.
  • All of the embroidery and embellishment covering the bodice was done by hand.
  • The skirt is made from a fine silk organza and falls outward from the waist on a pretty curvy line to the floor. Soft fold, gather it in around the waist and hope to hold the volume exactly Cristobal intended.
  • Underneath the top silk layer is an attached silk underskirt that helps hold the shape and make the skirt opaque enough to wear. If you wanted to add even more fullness, you could add an additional underskirt for added support.
  • Built inside the bodice is a cupped and boned inner corset that holds the dress in place. This is all perfectly done to couture standards.
  • The dress is fully lined in silk and closes with two back zippers and snaps. There is an inner waist stay that hooks to close. The dress has its proper Haute Couture and numbered tag. I see some faint marks on the skirt and some minor fraying of the metal threads on the bodice here and there. On the interior bodice, the silk ribbon that goes around the edge of the neckline has started to fray. The edges of the metal stays in the cups are coming out on both sides. Please see the photos after the label shot and know that the dress is in good to great condition, but it is not perfect.
  • There is no size tag present because it is true Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Good condition with the notes above.

Bust: 16" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12-13" flat across from side seam to side seam
Inner hips: to 20" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 9" from top of bodice to waist
Total length: 50" from top of bodice to hem

Ultra Rare Fall 1986 Thierry Mugler Ad / Runway Pale Ice Blue Suit w Faux Fur Cuffs & Collar

I Have A Question: Ultra Rare Fall 1986 Thierry Mugler Ad / Runway Pale Ice Blue Suit w Faux Fur Cuffs & Collar

  • This is an incredibly rare 'Poodle' suit from the Fall 1986 Collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Thierry Mugler.
  • Its twin walked the runway that season and a version of it was used for the ad campaign that year.
  • This might be an incredible suit to work in as part of a wedding weekend of celebrations that are happening during the winter months.
  • There are tiny metallic silver lame strips that are scattered through the faux fur cuffs and collar that are not as quite apparent in the photos but make a real statement when you see the suit in person.
  • The jacket is a classic cut of his from this time period. It features strong shoulders and is meant to feel more oversized. At the same time the waist is able to be cinched in so you still get that hourglass feel that the best of his work has.
  • The front wraps over itself and snaps into place across the top of one shoulder. A wide fabric belt is attached at one side, wraps around the back and then loops through a double metal buckle on the other side. This is what lets you cinch it in for added shape.
  • There is a pocket on the top of one breast and the hips flared dramatically out from underneath the belt.
  • The sleeves are full and they have an added curved panel on their outsides to give them even more fullness. They come down to a faux fur cuff that matches the one that wraps around the neck. Both the collar and cuff have little silver metallic tinsel worked through the fur.
  • The skirt has a band at the waist and then it is cut in vertical panels. One side widens out slightly and then the other side flares out dramatically and the way it is cut causes those pretty soft ruffles you see in the photos. I love how the angle of the jacket matches the angle created on the skirt.
  • This is a rare opportunity to own an exceptionally difficult to find piece of his work that is highly collectible.
  • The jacket is lined in a pale blue silky rayon and snaps and buckles to close as described above. The skirt is unlined and closes at the side with a zipper and snaps at the waist. The shoulders have padding. There is perhaps a very slight lightening of the fabric across the top of the shoulder and outside of the arms. It is very minor and once on it does not affect it at all. The colour is slightly more of an icy blue in person.
  • Both pieces are tagged a vintage Mugler 40
  • Excellent condition with the small note above.

Exaggerated shoulders: 17"
Bust: to 19" flat across from side seam to side seam

Dreamy Fall 2008 Ungaro by Esteban Cortazar Runway Look 18 Printed Chiffon Backless Halter Dress

I Have A Question: Dreamy Fall 2008 Ungaro by Esteban Cortazar Runway Look 18 Printed Chiffon Backless Halter Dress

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 2008 Emanuel Ungaro collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Esteban Cortazar.
  • Estaban headed the label from 2007 to 2009, succeeding Peter Dundas. He was only 23 when he began there.
  • He brought a softer look to the label and you can clearly see that in this dress. On the runway this dress was shown with a wide belt. And you could certainly add one if you wanted to add some more shape but I love it just on its own as shown here.
  • The dress is made out of a printed silk chiffon with a soft, pale, grey tone, floral pattern worked over at surface. The silk is interspersed with silvery toned pale grey panels of jersey that help shape the direction of the fabric and add some structure to create the way the dress falls over the body.
  • A band of fabric wraps around the neck and then extends out into long ties that fall down the back in the most beautiful way.
  • At the front the silk is gathered into the band at the neck and then sweeps down and around to the back.
  • This leaves the sides partially exposed and the entire back from the waist up is left completely open and bare. Only the ties that extend from the back of the neck break the bareness of the skin there. It feels soft and feminine yet very sexy at the same time.
  • The waist is seamed and the front halter blouses over the seam. Under that the skirt curves out and over the hips and then sweeps down to the floor.
  • The jersey panels are set in curving angles down one side of the dress with the silk set so they blouse slightly over the jersey insets. This perfectly ties the way the top blouses over at the waist and creates a pretty detailing all the way down the skirt.
  • The very lower portion of the skirt is quite full and moves beautifully as you move. You can see that in the reference runway video here.
  • It is a very romantic and beautiful feeling dress.
  • The dress is fully lined in a pale grey silk chiffon through the bodice and stretch pale grey jersey through the skirt. It closes with a hidden set zipper and snaps along the back waist. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below
  • Excellent condition

Bust: very flexible and open to most sizes
Waist: 13" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 17-21" flat across from side seam to side seam

Incredible Fall 1996 Nina Ricci by Gerard Pipart Haute Couture Runway Strapless Silver & Gold Dress

I Have A Question: Incredible Fall 1996 Nina Ricci by Gerard Pipart Haute Couture Runway Strapless Silver & Gold Dress

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1996 Nina Ricci Haute Couture show
  • It was made under the creative direction of Gerard Pipart.
  • The Nina Ricci brand was founded in 1932 at 20 Rue de Capucines in Paris. In 1964 Gérard Pipart succeeded Jules-François Crahay, Nina Ricci's former designer assistant, as head of the brand. Pipart, who had previously worked for Balmain, Fath, and Patou, brought a wide range of experience in all aspects of fashion to the brand.
  • Over the following three decades, Pipart's couture vision 'celebrated a flamboyant woman and his ready-to-wear found a loyal following among the most stylish women of the day.' He headed the Couture division until 1998.
  • This is an incredible and very beautiful piece of Haute Couture and would have been made entirely by hand in the Paris atelier.
  • This dress is a masterpiece and really showcases how beautiful a piece of true couture can be. Everything about its construction is done at a master level.
  • The bodice is strapless and curves down at the front beautifully to dip between the breasts. It does the same at the back but with a slightly less deep dip.
  • The entire bodice is covered with an elaborate design that blends hand embroidery with metallic silver thread, tiny seed beads in black, and gold tube beads. This would have all been completely done by hand and I would not be surprised to learn that this was by Lesage. It is absolutely magnificent.
  • That outer embellished layer tops an inner bodice that is boned and shaped around you. You can actually lift the exterior bottom of the bodice and see some of the work underneath and it is just incredible to see the detail that has gone into this. I have added a photo of that for you to see. It really showcases the attention to detail this dress was made with.
  • Under that the skirt is made out of a soft pewter silk that is a very high-quality. It has a slight silver grey feel to it that is lovely. The way that the skirt falls is just extra extraordinary. It is so full and voluminous as it curves outward and down to the floor. To achieve that shape there is an elaborate built-in underskirt that is all hidden. It is made out of a stiffened net that you can feel through the inner silk lining. It is set in those beautiful rounded pleats that you see on the outer skirt and gives the support needed to hold those shapes. We have not added any crinolines under the skirt. All of that volume is created because of the brilliant infrastructure underneath.
  • The back of the skirt is cut slightly longer then the front for a beautiful sweeping feel behind you.
  • It is fully lined in a handset silk and closes with a side set zipper. An inner waist stay hooks to close. There is hidden boning through the bodice and structure through the hips as described above. I see evidence that some of the seams around the inner waist were let out at some point.
  • The proper Haute Couture label is present.
  • There is no size tag so please go by the measurements below.
  • Excellent condition

Bust: 15-16" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12.5-13" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: open
Bodice: approx 8" from top of bodice to inner waist

Spring 2004 Roberto Cavalli Long Version of Runway Look 23 Feather Light Silk Coral & Gold Print Dress

I Have A Question: Spring 2004 Roberto Cavalli Long Version of Runway Look 23 Feather Light Silk Coral & Gold Print Dress

  • A shorter cut version of this dress walked the runway for Spring 2004 Cavalli collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli.
  • Versions of the dress were photoed for editorials that season and worn by Scarlett Johansson and Sienna Miller.
  • As good as the dress looks in these photos it is phenomenally better in person. The photos do not do the silk or the amount of movement and beauty of the cut full justice at all.
  • The silk used on the dress is extraordinary and is all cut on the bias. It has a slight texture to it and the pattern that runs over the dress has the feel of being hand painted.
  • To achieve this effect the design would have been created specifically for the dress how it lays over the dress pre-planned before the silk was cut.
  • Following the pattern are fused lines made out of a gold metallic glitter for an extra touch of glitz. This is hard to get the impact of in the photos, but it is absolutely beautiful in person.
  • The dress is suspended from tiny silk straps that curve up and over the shoulders to attached in at the back. Little triangle sit over the bust and they are set in with seams that angle down towards the sides. It skims over your waist and hips, and then the lower skirt falls in different lengths to hem.
  • The skirt is made up of panels that are attached into the dress on different angles. This gives it incredible fullness and allows it to open up around you when you move. It is cut longer at the back so you get this pretty sweeping line around you and this adds to the movement that it has.
  • The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear. The bias cut of the silk allows it to drape around you once on. I see one small repair along a seam of the skirt. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • Tagged a Roberto Cavalli vintage small.

Spring 2016 Chloe by Clare Waight Keller Runway Look 24 Hand Dyed Multicolor Silk Chiffon Dress

I Have A Question: Spring 2016 Chloe by Clare Waight Keller Runway Look 24 Hand Dyed Multicolor Silk Chiffon Dress

  • The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2016 Chloe runway for a Look 24
  • It was made under the creative direction of Clare Waight Keller.
  • This may be one of the most highly documented pieces that we have ever had in the shop. There were so many that we had to combine the shots in order to make them fit in one listing.
  • At the show, there was a printed note on every chair that said "The season's collection is a tribute to girls named Kate, Chloe, Cecilia, Corinne, Rosemary, Emma, and Courtney, who embody the liberty and the elegance of a perfectly mastered and excessively lived simplicity." Vogue expanded on that explaining that Clare said backstage that she had grown up alongside that motley crew of models, photographers, superstar performers, and they represent a more free time. "There is such a fast pace to fashion. Now, I think we've lost the innocence of the spirit of fashion, the youthful optimism that it portrays. And I think there is something quite joyful about fashion that's been missing."
  • This dress is one of the most beautiful from the collection in my opinion and it is even better in person.
  • The dress is made out of a lightweight gauze silk chiffon and the striping that you see has been all hand dyed vertically down the length of the silk. At first glance, you might think that all the colours are separate panels that have been attached together, but it is actually dyed vertical stripes down the length of the dress. I love how where they meet a softly fade into the colour next to it.
  • The chiffon is feather light and I am very glad that we have both the runway photos and so many reference photos and video for you to see how fantastically it moves once on.
  • The dress simply ties into place at the top of each shoulder and this allows you to decide how low or high to wear the drop of the neckline.
  • From there, it drapes in a very loose and easy silhouette over the bust, waist and hips before flowing to the ground.
  • Highlighting the waist are bands of rounded piped gathered stitching that add some visual detail and break to the stripes. These have the cords that hang down the sides running through them.
  • Adding the soft slightly curved lines across the middle of the dress allows the shape to still stay loose and easy but it gives it a visual waist. It is a very clever way to define the dress.
  • Extending out from those and running down each side are various colour cotton cords that end in the prettiest fringe tassels. Both both the chords and the tassels have been dyed into the various colours that are on the dress. I have taken a close-up of some of the tassels so you can see how fantastically pretty these are.
  • You can use the cording to add a little bit of shape if you wish but the dress really is meant to be worn loose and easy and more like a caftan.
  • The lightness of the fabric gives it incredible movement as you move. This is one of the most iconic of all Chloe dresses and it would be an incredible addition to any closet or collection.
  • The dress is lined to just above the knee in an ivory silk chiffon and its loose and easy cut makes it exceptionally easy to wear. It will just drape more on a smaller frame. It ties into place at the top of each shoulder and has no other closures.
  • Tagged a vintage Chloe 38

Chic Spring 2013 Emilio Pucci by Peter Dundas Runway Look 41 White Silk Halter Dress w Pockets

I Have A Question: Chic Spring 2013 Emilio Pucci by Peter Dundas Runway Look 41 White Silk Halter Dress w Pockets

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for Look 41 for the Spring 2013 collection.
  • Vogue said of the Collection; "When Peter Dundas inherited this historic Florentine house—famous since the 1960s for its kaleidoscopic prints—he made reworked archival patterns a major part of his story line. Last season and this one, though, he's started inching away from them. These days, the label is just as well known for Dundas' confident, louche brand of glamour as it once was for its founder's graphic swirls and geometries."
  • It was one of three white dresses that closed the show before the final look.
  • The dress is made out of a light silk that is light in weight but just heavy enough to keep the structure. It is very close to a true white.
  • The front neckline is done in a halter style with the upper part above the bust line finished an a white netting that has a secondary abstract print work through it. This allows you to see the skin underneath. The front is gathered over the breasts almost like a bandeau and seamed in the centre.
  • Under that is an open cut out for a bit more skin to show.
  • The dress curves in to follow the waist under that and and skims over the hips.
  • The skirt falls to the floor and widens out quite a bit as it nears the hem. This gives the dress incredible movement when you walk and you get a sense of that in the runway video.
  • I love the loose slightly draped pockets that sit on each hip.
  • The back is mostly open with a criss-cross of straps and an open cut out between the waist and the back strap.
  • Decorative frog knots sit at the low waist for added detail.
  • The dress is fully lined through the bodice and the skirt is unlined. It closes at the side with a hidden set zipper. Light boning and padding through the bodice. I see some some faint marks here and there around the hem.

I Have A Question: Resort 2017 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri Runway Look 67 Beaded Cotton Dress

  • The twin of this dress was shown for Look 67 of the resort 2017 Valentino collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri.
  • This ended up being the final collection that Maria worked on for the Valentino label.
  • The inspiration behind the collection was Cuba and the looks were rife with embroidery and bead work. Piccioli remarked that "It gave us a real freedom to mix, like a souvenir, lots of pieces together."
  • The dress has the added provenance of being the twin of the dress worn by Bee Schaffer that year on the red carpet. She wore it beautifully and it shows you just how spectacular the dress is once on the body.
  • The dress is made out of a light weight white gauze cotton that sits over a white gauze lining to make it opaque enough to wear. Onto that is a beautiful mix of bead work that highlights the lines of the dress.
  • The neckline is set wide across so that it sits at the edges of the shoulders and a wide 6" ruffle follows the entire neckline. It gives it the prettiest flounce all the way around you and creates the feel of little cap sleeves that float over the top of the shoulders.
  • The neckline is set into a V at both the back and the front for a little bit of added bare skin to show.
  • Under that the bodice skims down to the seamed waist and then the skirt is set into the waist.  The waist is slightly more on the generous side and accentuated with a band of the intricate bead work.
  • From there the skirt expands outwards and by the time it reaches the hem it has an amazing amount of volume. The back is cut slightly longer than the front so you get a beautiful sweep.
  • The lower portion of the skirt has a ruffle that picks up on the one around the shoulders and that ruffle is a full 15" wide. Underneath the top layer skirt is a second layer white. I love how this added touch of under-skirting along with the beautiful cut of the skirt creates the volume. It also gives you fantastic movement when you move.
  • You can see where the edges and seams between the different panels have all been finished with bead work. The beads have all been done in a combination of ivory and soft taupe beads placed by hand and they have the feel of being hand painted.
  • This is an absolutely stunning dress and this particular cut of dress is one of my favourites.
  • The dress is fully lined in a white gauze feeling fabric as described above. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. There is the tiniest faint mark near the waist. Please see the photo after the label shot. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little if at all. It has its original hang tag and packet of extra beads.

Phenomenal Fall 1977 Yves Saint Laurent Runway Deep Charcoal Grey Fringed Cape w Hood

I Have A Question: Phenomenal Fall 1977 Yves Saint Laurent Runway Deep Charcoal Grey Fringed Cape w Hood

  • This cape dates to the Fall 1977 collection.
  • It was made under the cradle direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
  • The collection was based on the work done for the Couture collection for Fall 1976 title 'Opera - Ballet Russes'. That collection marked a turning point for Yves as a couturier and designer.
  • Several versions of this look, along with fringe dresses, walked the ready-to-wear runway that season. Fringing was integral to this collection. We found several runway shots and include included those here.
  • This is a great and very easy to wear piece from one of the most important time periods of YSL history.
  • The cape is in a very beautiful deep charcoal grey and the fabric is a high end wool that is very soft and I suspect may a touch of cashmere in it's mix.
  • It has a bit of weight just due to the sheer amount of fabric in the cape but is still comfortable and easy-to-wear once on the body as it balances over you perfectly.
  • This is one of those effortless pieces that is easy to make vintage a part of your wardrobe with. You just slip it over your shoulders and it drapes in place.
  • A slightly oversized hood extends out from the neck and this added addition of the hood adds the perfect amount of detail and drama.
  • I love the soft fringing that finishes all of the edges and the elaborate twisted silk cord tie that extends out from either side of  the neck. Each of those chords ends in a hand carved wood bead.
  • A long fringed tassel dangles down from the hood at the back and it adds some additional movement when you move.
  • There is a ton of fabric in the body of the cape so that when you move you get wonderful movement as it floats and billows around you.
  • The cut is impeccable and it is a great piece of YSL's fashion history.
  • The cape is unlined and drapes over the shoulder to wear with a tie closure at the neck. The easy open cut should allow fit just about any size. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • There is no size tag present. Please go by the measurements listed below.

Rare Vivienne Westwood Fall 1993 'Anglomania' Collection Runway Look 36 Deep Brown Faux Fur Cape Jacket

I Have A Question: Rare Vivienne Westwood Fall 1993 'Anglomania' Collection Runway Look 36 Deep Brown Faux Fur Cape Jacket

  • The twin of the cape walked the runway for the Vivienne Westwood Fall 1993 collection as Look 36 on Christy Turlington.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Vivian Westwood.
  • Kate Moss wore a slightly different, more mottled feeling version for Look 27.
  • Both the more mottled version of the cape that was worn by Kate Moss and the twin of this one worn by Christy were worn backwards. We love the runway photos and video that show it being taken off of Christy mid-show.
  • The mottled version was photoed for British Vogue for the December issue of that year on Honour Fraser and this brown version appears in the Vivienne Westwood: Catwalk book. I love that these show you how great the cape is once on.
  • This collection is generally acknowledged as being one of her most important collections. In the book Vivienne Westwood: Catwalk they noted that this is the show titled "Anglomania" and her inspiration was her fresh love of European culture. "Suzy Menkes retrospectively dubbed Westwood as 'a one woman entente cordiale" and the fusing of France and Britain was never so handsome as in this collection.
  • This is also the collection where she introduced her Gold Label, to denote the catwalk collections. These pieces were produced in London to Demi Couture standards.
  • You can see the importance of this collection in that same book on her work as they dedicated 18 full pages to share the show looks when most collections only have a couple of pages given.
  • The cape is made out of a rich dark brown that has a glossy shiny finish and is a remarkably good representation of a fur.
  • The 'pelts' are stacked in horizontal, rose from top to bottom in a beautiful facsimile of a traditional fur.
  • There are no true sleeves at the sides she has taken where a sleeve could have been added and tucked and gathered it to create the fantastic draping shape instead.
  • This gathering at the sides is what allows it to fall over the body and breaks up the starkness of the rows. You can see how this falls in the photos and video.
  • Long ties extend out at the neck, and there is a single hidden fur hook to hold it in place. Although it was presented backwards on the runway, it could, of course be worn either way around.
  • The final perfect finishing detail is the hair print satin lining that offers a star pop of colour against the darkness of the 'fur'.
  • This is an incredibly rare opportunity to own a very valuable and collectible Vivienne Westwood piece from one of the most important and well known collections.
  • The cape slips on to wear with a single fur hook hidden behind where the ties extend outward. It is lined in a hair printed satin fabric. Pieces from this label were made to Demi Couture standards. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Fantastic Spring 1982 Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture Runway Unlabeled Black & White Print Plunge Dress

I Have A Question: Fantastic Spring 1982 Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture Runway Unlabeled Black & White Print Plunge Dress

  • A magnificent dress that is the twin of the one that walked the runway for the It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
  • The dress would have been completely made by hand in the Paris atelier.
  • The famous socialite Nan Kempner owned its twin and we have included photos here so you can see how fabulous this is on the body.
  • The dress is made out of a printed silk that has a black abstract pattern covering it from head to toe.
  • In the book Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture: Catwalk they tell us that for the show Yves celebrated the 20th anniversary of his Couture house. The collection emphasize small waists counterbalance by wide shoulders that accentuated narrow hips. Many of the pieces were inspired by India and the craftsmanship that was available there. You can see the inspiration in the front set crystals. He used glass crystal rhinestones that were cut specifically to mimic the type of diamonds called Polki Diamonds that often seen in Indian jewellery and have a more raw cut feel to them.
  • The dress is gathered at the shoulder but the gathers are brought down more towards the front. The shoulders are soft.
  • The sleeves are extremely generous through the upper arm and are set into the top of the shoulder with a series of soft pleats that give them height and volume. They narrow down to the cuff where they close with a zipper.
  • The entire front of the bodice is brought down into the centre waist in a series of soft pleats with a plunge that is fairly low but not too low.
  • Set in the middle of the waist is that fantastic diamond shaped applique that has the glass crystal stones mixed with black stones and black glass tube beads. This catches the light fantastically.
  • The skirt is gathered up and into that diamond to mimic what is happening on the bodice. It falls to the floor from there. There is a lot of fabric in the skirt because of the front pleating but it feels like it narrows in a bit to keep the silhouette long and narrow.
  • At the back it falls in a simple sheath from shoulder to hem.
  • All of the inner seams are finished by hand and the entire dress is made by hand to Haute Couture standards
  • The dress is unlined and closes with a side set zipper. Zipper sit at each cuff. There is some evidence that the seams at the side of the waist were let out slightly. They could easily be brought back in. I see a small mark on the back of one sleeve. The piece is unlabelled.
  • No size tag is present so please go by the listed measurements below.

I Have a Question

Exceptional Spring 2000 Giorgio Armani Runway Hand Beaded Silk Skirt & Silk Chiffon Top Set

I Have A Question: Exceptional Spring 2000 Giorgio Armani Runway Hand Beaded Silk Skirt & Silk Chiffon Top Set

  • A skirt and top set similar to this one walked the Spring 2000 Giorgio Armani runway and were seen in Looks 120 and 121.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
  • I love that you can see how spectacular these are once it is on the body from the runway reference photos.
  • The skirt has the custom order tag inside it that lets us know that it was a piece that only had one single piece produced per size per market. So there are very few of them out there. This piece could be considered Demi-Couture. It is a very rare and early runway piece by Armani.
  • The top is made from a feather light silk chiffon. It has a high collar that wraps around the neck and then the openings for the arms angle down from there.
  • I love that the structure of the top is soft so that it glides over you in a very loose and easy manner. It is very easy to wear because it is full and open all the way to the hem.
  • It is just long enough that it could potentially be worn as a micro mini if you dare.
  • The printed silk chiffon that it is made out of is vibrant and beautiful. The lightness of the silk is what allows you to tuck it so beautifully into the skirt without adding bulk.
  • The skirt has a piped silk band to define the waist and then it curves out and over the hips to the floor. It stays fairly straight to the floor widening out just a touch.
  • You can tell the level of craft that was put into this skirt. There are hand finishes throughout and it is a little work of art.
  • Iridescent beads and sequins have been hand applied in horizontal rows that match and highlight the underlying changing colour of the pattern on the skirt.
  • The final effect is fantastic. It is a joy to see this level of hand work and such a fine piece. As good as it looks in the photos, it is better in person.
  • The base of the skirt is made out of a hand dyed silk and that form the colours behind the embellishment
  • It has an easy silhouette and there is a high slit that runs up one side to add an unexpected flash of leg.is a high slit that runs up one side to add an unexpected flash of leg.
  • The play between the patterns and the luxuriousness of the hand done bead-work on the skirt is fantastic.
  • As with many of Armani pieces, the cuts are simple and require a body to truly bring them to life. I love that the two pieces allow you to mix a match with things that you already own. Our entire trio of vintage being shared today is from Armani and all of these pieces could be mixed and matched.
  • The top is fully lined in a nude silk chiffon and the skirt is lined in a hand set black silk chiffon. The top slips over the head with a button at the back of the neck and is very loose and easy through the body. The skirt closes with a button at the waist and a side set zipper below that. I see perhaps a couple missing beads here and there on the skirt but it is very minor and mentioned for accuracy. Both pieces otherwise appear to have been worn very little at all.
  • Both pieces are tagged a vintage Armani 40

Fantastic Fall 1999 Giorgio Armani Runway Beaded Sequin Net Bodysuit & Deep Pink Skirt Set

I Have A Question: Fantastic Fall 1999 Giorgio Armani Runway Beaded Sequin Net Bodysuit & Deep Pink Skirt Set

  • The twin of the bodysuit top walked the Fall 1999 Giorgio Armani runway. This is paired with a pink skirt from the same collection that was not presented on the runway.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
  • Even with a different skirt you can see how spectacular these are once it is on the body from the runway reference photos.
  • My client told me that these beaded pieces only had 4-5 pieces produced per size per market. So there are very few of them out there.
  • The top is a full body suit made out of a black stretch mesh net that has that gorgeous floral pattern beaded onto it that is highlighted with sequins.
  • I love that the structure of the top is soft so that it glides over you. It is very easy to wear and I love is touch of transparency through the netting. The netting has two layers it has a bit of extra coverage but there is definitely some transparency through the net between the flowers.
  • The net is very light in weight and you can see how it tucks beautifully into the skirt without adding bulk once something is layered over it.
  • The flowers have been applied by hand and are a fantastic combination of of beads and sequins. They made so that they sit slightly up and off the mash and the centres of the flowers have a little 3D dangling centres. The final effect is fantastic. They are scattered over the bodysuit and the intensity of the deep pink and blues are fantastic against the black.
  • The skirt has a defined waist and then it curves out and over the hips to the floor, widening out to be very full as it nears its hem.
  • The skirt is made out of a deep pink silk that has a touch of iridescent finish to it. It is a better pink than how it photoed here. It has just enough weight to hold its shape but is still light and easy to wear.
  • I love that there are pockets hidden along each hip.
  • The play between the pattern and texture of the body seat paired with the vibrant solid colour of the skirt is fantastic.
  • As with many of Armani pieces, the cuts are simple and require a body to truly bring them to life. I love that the two pieces allow you to mix a match with things that you already own. Our entire trio of vintage being shared today is from Armani and all of these pieces could be mixed and matched.
  • The top is made of 2 layers of black stretch net and the skirt is lined in a pink silk. The top slips on and hooks to close at the inseam. The skirt closes with a series of snaps at the waist. Pockets on each hip. The bodysuit has lots of stretch and I've put the comfortable range below. Both pieces appear to have been worn very little at all.
  • Neither of the pieces have a size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

Prettiest Spring 2000 Giorgio Armani Runway Dusty Pink Beaded Halter Top & Silk Chiffon Skirt Set

I Have A Question: Prettiest Spring 2000 Giorgio Armani Runway Dusty Pink Beaded Halter Top & Silk Chiffon Skirt Set

  • A skirt and top set similar to this one walked the Spring 2000 Giorgio Armani runway and versions were seen in Looks 114 and 115.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
  • Similar pieces were used in the ad campaign that season as well. I love that we have both runway reference and ad campaign photos. You can see how spectacular these are once it is on the body.
  • My client told me that these beaded halters only had 4-5 pieces produced per size per market. So there are very few of them out there.
  • The top is suspended by two tiny silk straps in a matching pink that curved up and over each shoulder. The front and back have a slight scoop.
  • I love that the structure of the top is soft and easy so that it glides over you. Subtle seaming shapes it around you to highlight your curves, but it is not meant to fit super tight, rather it glides over you.
  • The top is made out of a dusty deep pastel pink silk that is extensively hand beaded. Inside there is a layer of silk chiffon. On the runway these were shown unlined but were produced with the added silk chiffon lining.
  • The way the iridescent tiny pink tinged beads and sequins are applied is fantastic. They are done in handset rows and laid out to cover the entire top.
  • The skirt is made out of a feather light printed silk chiffon and has an easy silhouette.
  • The waist has a small band in the same silk and then it skims out over the hips and flares out as it reaches its hem. The cut is meant to be more loose and easy. A slit runs up one side for a little added extra leg to show.
  • The play between the pattern of the skirt and the luxuriousness of the bead-work on the top is fantastic.

Spring 1990 Yves Saint Laurent Runway Nude Pink Version Silk Plunge Runway Dress w Balloon Sleeves

I Have A Question: Spring 1990 Yves Saint Laurent Runway Nude Pink Version Silk Plunge Runway Dress w Balloon Sleeves

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1990 collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
  • I love that it was photo with Yves himself. The model is carrying flowers and this may have been the piece used to close the show as the wedding dress.
  • The fabric that the dress is made out of is a stunning pale nude ballet slipper pink that has a beautiful weight to it. This and the cut is what helps hold the draping perfectly in place.
  • It has a very unusual design that is completely hidden at first glance. There is an inner bodice that one side of the outer dress hooks onto around the inner waist and then the other side drapes over that and hooks along the outer waist. This gives you coverage over the bust on the inside but still allows the bodice to feel loosely draped around you. It is what allows the plunge to be so low at the front while having it be completely secure while you are fully covered underneath.
  • The sleeves are incredible. They are extremely full and each is lined with a pale pink silk chiffon to help hold the added volume of them. I love the way they drop over the cuff at the wrist to form that gorgeous puff at their ends.
  • The inner waist closure holds the dress in place around you and then the silk drapes and skims past the waist and hips. The skirt flares out slightly as it nears the hem. The silk drapes over the waist for a bit of definition in shape even though there is no actual seam there. It is all masterful tailoring.
  • The inner bodice zips at the front and then the dress hooks to close around it. The rest of the dress is unlined. I see one tiny faint mark along the edge of a fold of the top, some very minor faint marks at the hem and a tiny scuff in the fabric at the back hem. All very minor but mentioned for accuracy. Hand finishes. The colour is slightly more pastel soft pink than how it shot.
  • The fit of the dress as it is currently is based almost completely on the measurements of the inner bodice piece but the outer dress is more generous. You could easily alter/add to the inner bodice to get more room if needed.
  • Tagged a vintage YSL 38

Dreamy Fall 2012 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 58 Strapless Pink Dress w Jewels & Rhinestones

I Have A Question: Dreamy Fall 2012 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 58 Strapless Pink Dress w Jewels & Rhinestones

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway as Look 58 for the Fall 2012 show.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta
  • The dress was part of the closing looks of the show and I love that the runway video and photo show you how wonderful it is once on an actual body.
  • Vogue noted the use of the baby pinks and powder blues, and the inspiration board shared prints of jewels blown up to "eye popping proportions". Which, of course led to the scattering of jewels across the bodice of this lovely dress.
  • The dress is made out of the perfect princess pink silk, and is perfectly executed despite its simple and minimalist silhouette.
  • It is reckless across the front and inside there is one of his signature full built-in bone and cup in our bosses that has its own closure and holds the dress perfectly in place.
  • On the exterior, the bodice is shaped around you in handset gathered panels that sweep all the way around and tuck under a panel that folds up and over the top of the bodice from which the rest of the dress falls.
  • I love the wrap illusion that this gives the dress down from there. Skimming over the waist and curving slightly back out over the hips because of the bias cut of the silk.
  • The skirt sweeps down to the floor and flares out slightly around you at the hem. At the back there's extra fabric added so you got a pretty subtle sweep behind you.
  • On the bodice is a scattering of hand, set muted gold beads, mixed with large rhinestones in a variety of sizes. Prongs, set rhinestones and little beads are added to the mix as well. This perfectly ties in his theme of jewels and adds the perfect amount of glamour to the dress.
  • It's a very pretty example of his work during this time. Period.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk. The interior corset closes with its own back zipper and then a second hidden set zipper closes the dress over that. The inner corset is fully boned and cupped. An attached inner waist stay hooks to close. There is some slight grubbiness around the hem here and there which is minor but mentioned for accuracy. Note that the outer waist has several inches more than the inner corset waist so you could get extra room if needed.

1940s-1950s Possible Stage or Showgirl Strapless Dress Covered in Hand Placed Sequins & Beads

I Have A Question: 1940s-1950s Possible Stage or Showgirl Strapless Dress Covered in Hand Placed Sequins & Beads

  • This is original dress from the 1950s, maybe the 1940s that is completely made by hand.
  • It is an absolutely incredible example of the high level of hand work being done during that time period and you would be hard pressed to find anything modern done to this degree outside of true Couture pieces.
  • I have no formal history on the dress but it does have a handwritten tag with the name Edith that sits inside the hem. The possibility of this being the name of the owner is fascinating and one wonders if it belonged to perhaps a showgirl, dancer or perhaps an actress who would have worn the dress. Having the name added like that certainly does imply that it was more of a stage piece as this was common in stage pieces from the era.
  • The dress has hundreds of thousands of sequins and beads hand applied over every inch of its surface. The sequins are incredibly dense in the way that they have been applied. They are set so that they overlap each other to the point where they stand up and off the dress slightly. The black sequins were done in a swirling burst design and this lets it catch the light differently and creates the most amazing effect.
  • Added to that is a floral design in pale pink, gold and greens that is also done in sequins. This wraps around the bodice and then runs down the entire skirt of the dress with the density of the design getting heavier as it near the hem.
  • Then over all of that are over-sized faceted beads in a variety of colours that have been applied by hand to add an extra bit of detail and sparkle to the dress. They are all jewel tones mixed with gold and copper and it is just incredible to see.
  • The dress does have weight to it but it is perfectly balanced once it is on the body.
  • It has straps but can also be worn strapless. Inside there is a full built-in boned and cupped corset that holds the dress in place and adds shape. The waist is brought in by this corset and then the dress skims over the hips. As it falls to the floor it narrows down. There is an overlapping curved slit at the back that allows you to be able to walk in it.
  • The dress is fully lined in a black silky rayon. The dress has an inner corset that hooks into place with a double row of metal lingerie hooks. The inner corset is boned and cupped. It is lightly tacked into the dress. I see some wear on the inside of the corset here and there and a light dusting along the edge under the arm. The inner bust cups have degraded and there's dusting coming through the fabric on the inside of the corset. The dress zips to close over the inner corset. It is completely made by hand.

Fall 2015 Ralph Lauren Purple Label Runway Finale Look 43 Bronze Sequin Halter Dress w Open Back

I Have A Question: Fall 2015 Ralph Lauren Purple Label Runway Finale Look 43 Bronze Sequin Halter Dress w Open Back

  • The near twin of this dress walked the Fall 2015 Ralph Lauren Purple Label runway for the finale Look 43.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Ralph Lauren.
  • The dress was also superbly worn by Sienna Miller at the Cannes amfAR Gal that season and I love that it gives you the opportunity to see it on yet another person.
  • The Purple Label pieces from Ralph Lauren are the high-end demi-couture pieces the label creates. Ralph Lauren launched that division in 1994 and the label was meant to be the pinnacle line for the brand.
  • You can see how phenomenally the dress moves in the reference video.
  • The dress is made from a silk chiffon base that is densely covered in muted bronze and coppered sequins. On some parts of the dress the sequins are stacked with smaller ones on top of larger ones, and on other parts the sequins have a slight pattern in them that allows them to catch the light in a different way.
  • The sequins are set over the dress tightly overlapped in the direction and which they overlap changes as they move over the surface of the dress. This is what causes the subtle pattern in addition to the patterns on the sequins themselves and the change in sizing of the sequins. They also all catch the light differently depending on which direction they have been attached to the silk.
  • It is a dress that will come to life even more once it is on an actual body. It needs movement.
  • Tiny silk chiffon straps extend up from the bodice to wrap and tie behind the neck. The front dips into a V with subtle darts to shape it around the chest.
  • At the back it has a low scoop that leaves your entire back bare and exposed.
  • It nips in at the waist by the way the side seams are curved and shaped. The skirt under that curves over your hips and the falls to the floor in a sleek column to the floor with a bit of flare around the lower hem. At the back there is extra fabric down the centre and the skirt is cut to fall just slightly longer than the front. This helps add to the movement around the lower skirt as you walk and move.
  • The dress is wonderfully made to the high standards the Ralph Lauren and their Purple Label craftmanship excels at.
  • It is a stunning dress and you will definitely turn heads in it when you walk into the room.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching silk chiffon and closes with a low setback zipper. It ties behind the neck. It appears to have been worn very little at all. Hand work is present and these dresses were known to be made to a Demi Couture level. The length can be adjusted a bit by tying the straps up or down.

I Have A Question: Amazing Spring 2018 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Runway Look 64 Lace, Silk & Velvet Halter Dress Set

  • The near twin of this dress walked the Spring 2018 runway for Look 64.
  • It was made under the Creative Direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli
  • Vogue declared the collection "a fresh starting point for spring" utilizing laird neck lines and floral prints" stating that it "enabled the impulses of girls who just want to dress up and go out dancing".
  • There are two pieces to the look. A beautiful little velvet halter that goes underneath the dress and then the dress itself which is made out of a combination of different types of lace, silk chiffon, and velvet detailing.
  • The halter is a pale blue in that perfect antique blue feel. It wraps and buttons behind the neck and then it sits just under the bust at the front with a wide strap that hooks at the back. This gives you the perfect amount of coverage under the low scoop of the dress but still leaves the upper back bare and exposed.
  • The dress slips over that and it is absolutely beautiful with its mix of fabrics.
  • The front is made out of a pale pink lace with a touch of the same blue velvet worked underneath the lace at the front. It scoops low at the front to a slightly dropped waist that widens out to be more generous in feel.
  • The skirt falls to the floor from there and is incredibly full. A silk panel runs down the front and it has a little fused blue velvet flowers on it. Each side is finished with a panel of yellow lace with a large expanse of a pale blue lace in between.
  • The blue lace runs all the way up the sides and is the perfect slightly paler shade to coordinate with the velvets.
  • At the back there is a full wide panel that drapes down behind you with an almost caped feel. It is attached at the top of the shoulder and falls longer than the hem at the back. This gives you incredible movement as you move and adds to the prettiest and floating feel of the dress.
  • Underneath of that panel the back is scooped quite low and I have taken a photo where I have held the panel out so you can see.
  • The fabric combination and beautiful soft pastels are just absolutely stunning and it is better in person. I love it.
  • The dress is fully lined in a pale neutral silk and closes with a hidden set back zipper. The lower strap of the halter has some elastic so I put the comfortable range of it below. It also has two choices where it hooks at the back so I have put the minimum size to the maximum size. The dress is in its original length and appears to to have been worn very little if at all.

Prettiest Spring 2019 Carolina Herrera by Wes Gorden Runway Look 25 Silk Chiffon Floral Print Dress

I Have A Question: Prettiest Spring 2019 Carolina Herrera by Wes Gorden Runway Look 25 Silk Chiffon Floral Print Dress

  • The twin of the dress was shown for Look 25 for the Spring 2019 collection
  • It was made under the creative direction of Wes Gordon.
  • This dress was one of the outstanding pieces from the collection and Wes was quoted as saying backstage "Happy people make happy clothes," in reference to what he learned working side-by-side with Carolina before his runway debut in this collection. He had shown a collection prior to this for Resort but this was his first official runway show. It was a smashing success.
  • In Vogue's review they specifically noted that a "softly constructed long belted dress in two weightless layers of floral prints" was "especially graceful".
  • The dress is made from a beautiful silk chiffon that has that glorious floral print over it and then a second for the under layer of the skirt. I especially love the mix of the two different prints. It is very well done.
  • The neck line is high and the front is gathered in vertical gathers from there to the top of the 3" band around the waist. The same gathering happens at the back and it gives a very soft and pretty effect over the body.
  • The waist is highlighted with gathers at the front. A wide attached belt in the same fabric, but in a heavier weighted silk, comes out from underneath the gathers and wraps around the back and hooks into place to add definition around the waist.
  • The skirt flows to the floor from there and it is an absolutely lovely thing to see. It is made out of two layers of the silk chiffon.
  • There is a panel that is attached around the waist so that it falls down the front and then a second panel falls down the back. This leaves the sides completely open from the waist to hem and gives the skirt its incredible movement as you can see in the reference photos and video.
  • The skirt underneath those panels has a larger yellow based floral print. The two different colours magically compliment and work together perfectly.
  • I love that when you move in certain ways you get that unexpected flash of colour underneath. It changes the entire dress and adds to its beauty.
  • This was an outstanding debut by Wes and it is always nice from a fashion history point of view to have pieces from these early collections of a designer at a new label.
  • The dress is fully lined in a off-white silk chiffon and closes with a hidden set back zip. The attached belt at the waist closes with hooks and a snap. It appears to have been worn very little at all.

Spring 2016 Etro by Veronica Etro Runway Look 6 Ivory Net Lace Dress w Embroidered Silk Panels

I Have A Question: Spring 2016 Etro by Veronica Etro Runway Look 6 Ivory Net Lace Dress w Embroidered Silk Panels

  • The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2016 Etro runway and was shown for Look 6 on the runway.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Veronica Etro
  • Vogue reported that she "delivered a sumptious medley of house staples – the kaleidoscopic prints, the rich concentration of colour, and the bohemian sensibility – in a collection that also melded European folk costume, Victorian Pre-Raphaelite nostalgia, haberdashery, Arts and Crafts, and a shot of Ballets Russes".... The softness of the sleeves were noted in particular and Vogue called it "Victoriana eminently incorporable into the cool-girl wardrobe"
  • The dress is made out of a light weight, more open weave, deep ivory lace net that like its runway counterpart is unlined. Mixed between the panels of lace are panels that have been embroidered along with floral silk chiffon panels to form a beautiful pattern over the entire dress.
  • The neckline is scooped and edged with the same floral silk chiffon and the shoulders are soft. It curves out into slightly puffed sleeves that come in and have a beautiful little handmade glass French cuff button at each cuff. I love this little detail.
  • At the back it plunges into an extremely low cut V that leaves the back bare and exposed. You could deliberately layer this over something to highlight that V or find something for underneath that allows your full bare skin to show.
  • The bodice is cut to skim over loose and easy and the waist is cut more generously and slightly dropped.
  • The horizontal panels on the bodice are embroidered with beautiful flowers.
  • The skirt sits under that and begins with a gathered panel of the silk chiffon that has the prettiest delicate floral print. From there it expands outwards and by the time it reaches the hem it has quite a bit of volume. The back is cut slightly longer than the front so you get a beautiful sweep and movement when you move.
  • I love that the lace and floral silk chiffon are done in horizontal bands all the way down to the hem, with each band getting progressively wider around to create the volume of the skirt.
  • This is an absolutely stunning dress that is easy to fit and wear. It is also beautifully light in weight.
  • The dress is unlined and closes with a hidden set side zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

I Have a Question

Spring 2017 Alexander McQueen by Saran Burton Runway Look 37 Off Shoulder Black Stretch Net Dress

I Have A Question: Spring 2017 Alexander McQueen by Saran Burton Runway Look 37 Off Shoulder Black Stretch Net Dress

  • The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2017 runway for Look 37.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Sarah Burton.
  • Sara flew her entire team to the Shetland Isles to do research for the collection in particular. They researched the traditions by the crofters, "a tiny community which has knitted wall and laces for hundreds of years" stated vogue in their review of the show. This resulted in "Sinuous dresses knitted from wool lace, clinging tight to a tiny high bodice, and flaring to handkerchief point skirts."
  • On the runway, the dress was shown without a lining through the body. Once it was produced for the shops it was sent with a stretched nylon lining to make it more opaque and wearable. If you prefer the runway look you could easily have that removed.
  • The knit is extraordinarily light and fluid and has stretch. So it easily drapes over a range of sizes and flows over the body while topping a nude stretch lining underneath that is equally as comfortable.
  • The neck line is set wide across so you can wear it completely off of the shoulder for a bare expanse of skin to show. A wide 9" panel of that same knit netting follows the entire neckline and gives the prettiest flounce all the way around you. I love how it ends in points and has lovely movement.
  • The sleeves are soft and when off of the body they appear to be super skinny but they are also made out of that bias cut stretch knit so they will move to accommodate the arm. Each one ends in pointed angles for a pretty detail that picks up the finish of the ruffle that goes around the neck line and the lower hem.
  • Under the flounce detail around the neck the bodice skims down to the waist that has no seam. That combined with the bias cut allows it to feel a touch more generous through the middle. You could add a belt if you wanted more shape.
  • The skirt falls down and outwards from there and I love how the pattern of the knit is set in vertical rows and with different patterns within those rows. It makes it more visually interesting. The very bottom portion of the skirt feels like a reflection of the panel that encircles the shoulder with its pointed finish, tying everything beautifully together..
  • There is actually quite a bit of fabric through the skirt. It falls so lightly that when you are standing still it feels more like a column but it allows an incredible movement when you move as you can see in the reference materials.
  • This is an absolutely stunning example of her work during this time period and perfectly exhibits her dedication to the craft of dressmaking.
  • The dress is lined in a nude stretch jersey. It slips over the head to wear with no closures. The stretch of the fabric should allow it to fit a range of sizes and I have put the comfortable range that it will stretch up to. It would obviously fit any measurement below that upper range.

Prettiest 2017 Gucci by Alessandro Michele Black Dress w Lace Sleeves & Iridescent Crystal Bow Detailing

I Have A Question: Prettiest 2017 Gucci by Alessandro Michele Black Dress w Lace Sleeves & Iridescent Crystal Bow Detailing

  • The dress is from 2017 and is a piece that was produced for the shops.
  • The dress was made under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele.
  • Lisa Vanderpump wore it's twin that season and I love that the reference photos we have included here allow you to see how great this is once on the body.
  • The dress is made from a light in weight black crepe like fabric mixed with lace set down the bodice and for the sleeves. These fabric choices keeps it light in weight but still give it enough structure to hold that gorgeous shape that you see.
  • The neck is cut high with a ruffle of lace running around the neck. A lace panel drops into a low V down the front. This leaves you completely covered but you still have a bit of the transparency that the lace provides.
  • Each shoulder is set into the arms with a slight capped feel and then they narrow down to wide cuffs and a ribbed grosgrain. Each cuff closes with two button buttons covered in the same fabric. I love the way the lace of the sleeves picks up on that front panel and how they also have transparency through the lace pattern.
  • The bodice is cut to skim over you to the waist that is banded for shape.
  • The skirt curves out over the hips and then falls from there to the floor, flaring out as it reaches the hem. This gives it a wonderful movement when you move.
  • It is at the very front that you get that signature excess that Alessandro is so well known for. Two large bows are formed out of iridescent silver crystals trimmed with tiny seed beads. These are attached directly to the dress and are stylistically a nod to the 1930s and 1940s. There is also a prong set row of the same crystals that run between the bows to suggest tiny buttons. All of the crystals catch the light beautifully and add a high amount of glamour to the dress.
  • It is a beautiful dress representative of his time at the Gucci label.
  • The dress is lined in a black chiffon through the bodice with the skirt and lace areas left unlined. It closes with a hidden back side zipper and hooks at the back of the neck. Each sleeve has a two buttons at the wrist. There is some stretch through the body so I have put the comfortable range when laying flat below.

Rare Spring 2015 Dolce & Gabbana Runway Look 4 Mini Dress w Lace & Intricate Embellishment Details

I Have A Question: Rare Spring 2015 Dolce & Gabbana Runway Look 4 Mini Dress w Lace & Intricate Embellishment Details

  • The twin of the dress was Look 4 on the Spring 2015 Dolce and Gabbana runway
  • It was made under the creative direction of Domenico Solce and Stefano Gabbana
  • This dress was only available as a special order piece in the original price was just over $15,000 euros. I highly doubt more than one or two exist.
  • The embellishment on this piece was done to a Haute Couture level. It combines hand carved metal and has different kinds of embellishments that all been placed by hand in the pattern that you see over the dress on the front and waist. There are small 3D silver flowers with pearls topping them, hand-made red patent leather flowers in various sizes, 3D three layered golden metal carved flowers with red crystal rhinestones, and big hand carved metal plates, with some of rhinestones directly embedded onto the metal plates. It is truly a work of art and showcases the very best of Dolce's craftsmanship.
  • The embellishment covers the front of the dress and then the detailing around the waist runs all the way around the waist to the back. I have taken multiple photos so that you can see just how elaborate and wonderful all of the embellishments are.
  • The piece that wraps around the way seems to just be tacked on and then it ties at the back with a deep burgundy red velvet ribbon. I think if you wanted you could untack it and wear it as a separate belt.
  • Under the embellishments is a very pretty and wearable dress. It is made out of a white silk brocade that has a pattern on pattern to the silk for the top and then the skirt is made out of a black silk and lace.
  • The bodice has no sleeves and the neck line is scooped. It skims over your bust to the embellished attached belt that circles the waist. The skirt flares out in a little A-line from there and it is mini length. I love that this was a runway piece because you can see how fantastically it sits on the body.
  • The skirt is made of two layers. The top layer is a black silk and then there is a second silk layer under that. Each layer is edged in a handmade black lace. The skirt has yards of fabric in it so it is very swinging around the body as you walk and move. If you lay the skirt out flat it is actually greater than a full circle.
  • The dress is fully lined in a hand set white silk through the body and the second layer under the skirt acts as the lining. It closes with a back zipper and then snaps under the waist partway down the skirt the inner layer of the skirt has its own zipper to the waist. The attached belt ties with the velvet ribbon at the back. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

Dreamiest Resort 2020 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Runway Look 23 Silk Chiffon Print Dress

I Have A Question: Dreamiest Resort 2020 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Runway Look 23 Silk Chiffon Print Dress

  • The near twin of the dress was Look 23 in the Resort 2020 Valentino presentation.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli.
  • Vogue said that 'Pierpaolo Piccioli had his Resort collection photographed in Rome’s Orto Botanico, a green oasis in the center of the city with giant bamboo stands and towering palm trees.' This is one of my favourite Valentino dresses of the collection and it is even dreamier in real life.
  • The dress is made out of a beautiful lightweight ivory silk chiffon that has the teeniest palest touch of green to its undertone.
  • Onto the entire dress is a beautiful floral pattern that gets larger as it near the hem. The flowers are done in pale greens and soft pinks with more vibrant pinks around the hem mixed with bands of colour.
  • The shoulders are soft and the sleeves flutter over the very top of the arm. They are a single layer of the silk chiffon so have a beautiful delicacy to them.
  • The dress skims over the bust from a high scooped neck and drapes easily over the body to the waist. Ruffles made out of the same silk sit behind vertical panels of the chiffon with lace ribbon insets. These run vertically down the centre of the top and there is a row of little functional buttons that runs down the middle.
  • The dress comes with a long matching tie in the same fabric that you used to cinch around the waist for added shape.
  • I love that parts of the print in the chiffon are signed Valentino.
  • The skirt flows to the floor from there and it is extremely full. It has a second ivory silk layer underneath so that it is opaque enough to wear. The excessive amount of fabric used through the skirt give it a ton of movement when you walk and move.
  • The lightness of the silk and the way that it lays over the body allows it to move spectacularly over you and it will pick up the slightest bit of air. It really is even more stunning in person.
  • The dress is lined through the bodice with an ivory silk chiffon and the skirt is fully lined in an ivory silk. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. The buttons at the front are functional. Comes with its original matching tie belt in the same chiffon. In its original uncut length and it appears to have been worn very little if at all

Outstanding Fall 1999 Jean Paul Gaultier Black Bias Cut Jersey w Black Velvet Cuffs & Collar

I Have A Question: Outstanding Fall 1999 Jean Paul Gaultier Black Bias Cut Jersey w Black Velvet Cuffs & Collar

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1999 Jean Paul Gaultier collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Jean Paul Gaultier.
  • Miley Cyrus famously wore the twin of this dress in 2013. I love that the reference photos of both her and the runway photos that give you an amazing idea of how this looks on the body.
  • The dress is made from a black stretch jersey that has some movement and is very comfortable to wear and easy to fit.
  • Contrasting with that or padded pipe bands of black velvet that circled the collar and each cuff.
  • The velvet collar that circles around the neck is cut wider across in a true circle that sits up and off the body slightly as you can see in the photos.
  • The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are cut extra long. Each one flares out dramatically and is finished with that same round piped velvet finish that the collar has. Each cuff is also a full circle around and it is quite extraordinary and dramatic to see. They have fantastic movement once they are on the body and I love how they are set on an angle so that they fall longer at the back behind your hands.
  • It skims over the bodice and is cut more generously through the waist. If you wanted to add more definition you could add a belt but it does falls beautifully in a sleek column when worn as intended.
  • The jersey curves back out over the hips and then the skirt falls to the floor below that. The black jersey stretch fabric has incredible drape and movement around you as it flares out.
  • This is a phenomenal and very well known piece of Jean Paul's work and highly collectible
  • The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear with no closures. The jersey does have some stretch to it and I have put the comfortable range of stretch below. The dress appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Amazing Fall 1984 Yves Saint Laurent Runway Black Velvet Wrap Dress w Olive Silk Taffeta Ruffles

I Have A Question: Amazing Fall 1984 Yves Saint Laurent Runway Black Velvet Wrap Dress w Olive Silk Taffeta Ruffles

  • The twin of this dress walked the Fall 1984 Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche runway.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
  • We were so pleased to find shots of it on because it really shows you just how much it comes to life when worn. It is extraordinary and it is a stunning example of his work during this time period.
  • The wrap design of the dress is easy to fit and is also very flattering for so many body types.I love the soft and romantic lines that this dress has.
  • It is made of a black velvet that has enough weight to hold the shape that you see but still feel light on the body.
  • A wide ruffle in a deep olive coloured silk taffeta runs around the neck starting at the base of the front plunge. It curves up and around the neck and then comes back down across the front is caught up at the side and then falls all the way two the hem and around.
  • This stunning framing of the entire front of your body is beautiful and gives the dress is dramatic feel.
  • To wear the dress there is an inner strap that wraps around your waist and hooks into place and then a long attached silk tie in a matching green ties into place at the side.
  • On the runway, this was shown tied into a bow, a signature Yves detail.
  • The wrapping of the dress allows you to adjust the fit around you so that it sits perfectly on you.
  • The skirt curves over the hip and falls to the hem and because of the wrap over design when you move or walk, you will see a flash of bare leg. The ruffles hide most of your leg but it does peak out as you walk . It is an insanely sexy detail that is in total contrast with the sweetness of the ruffles.
  • As good as the dress looks on the dress form, it is even better in person and on a body. It looks remarkably simple yet is genius in its execution.
  • Fully lined in a black silk and closes with a inner strap that hooks around the waist. It ties to one side on the exterior as described above. A zipper at each cuff. I see a tiny bit of pressing of the velvet at the crease under the arms. The easy wrap cut makes it easy to fit a range of sizes. You could easily adjust the inner waist if needed.

I Have a Question

Fall 1979 Halston Runway Deep Metallic Gold, Green & Brown Light Lame Leopard Print Dress w Belt

I Have A Question: Fall 1979 Halston Runway Deep Metallic Gold, Green & Brown Light Lame Leopard Print Dress w Belt

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1979 collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Roy Halston.
  • I have seen this dress made in only three colour ways to date and with this one have now had all three on the shop; this deep green, gold and brown version, a blue and gold, and a version that has a lighter green and gold combination.
  • The dress is from his main couture line and these would have been made-to-order in his workshop during this time period.
  • Halston defined how woman dressed in the 1970s and his dresses in particular were tremendously flattering to the body.
  • This is an amazing couture Halston dress and a very rare and special find.
  • It is feather light and you are barely conscious of wearing anything. The fabric is a very fine light gold, light brown and green silk lurex lame that moves and drapes beautifully.
  • It is entirely cut on the bias above and below the elastic waist and utilizes his signature minimal seaming.
  • The neckline is scooped and there is a little keyhole at the back below the hook there. The sleeves extend out from the waist with no seam around the arm and then they narrow down to their ends. This leaves the bodice loose and generous over you.
  • There is elastic set around the waist so it is very easy to fit. The dress also comes with its original matching tie belt in the same fabric. The belt is shaped more like a cummerbund with a wider panel that extends into smaller ties on each side. This lets you wrap and shape it around you and cinch in the waist much as you wish. You can leave the ties at the front or the back.
  • The skirt falls from there and slightly widens out as it nears the hem and there are pockets on each hip.
  • This is a rare example of Halston at his very best and is a rare example of when he chose to use a print over a solid colour.
  • The is unlined and slips on with an elastic waist. It hooks at the back of the neck above a keyhole. It comes with its original belt and is hand finished throughout. Its easy fit should allow it to work for range of sizing.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below
  • Excellent condition

Sleeves: approx 25" and are open through the upper arm
Shoulders: no true defined seam
Bust: open with no true side seams

Bodice: approx 17" from neck to waist
Total length: 63" from neck to hem but may come up a bit on once on and belted, there is just under 2" turned under the hem

I Have a Question

Extraordinary Spring 2012 Alexandre Vauthier Custom Sample Pale Lavender Silk Net & Sequin dress

I Have A Question: Extraordinary Spring 2012 Alexandre Vauthier Custom Sample Pale Lavender Silk Net & Sequin dress

  • This extraordinary dress is an original sample from the Spring 2012 Vauthier collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Alexandre Vauthier
  • Alexandre Vauthier launched his label in 2009. He started his fashion career in 1993 working for Thierry Mugler as an intern and working his way up to assistant designer to Mugler himself. In 1997 he joined Jean Paul Gaultier where he in charge of the Couture collections for the following eight years.
  • He left in 2008 to open his own couture atelier showing his first collection in 2009. From 2011 to 2014 the label was a designated guest member of the Chambre Syndicale de haute couture and since December 2014 he has been a full Couture member. Vauthier departed the label in 2025 marking the end of the Couture division.
  • This dress is from the atelier archives and may very well be the only one in existence.
  • The dress is made from a soft lavender silk net that is of extremely high-quality. It is all cut on the bias and then onto that are vertical rows made up of thousands of sequins.
  • The seam work on this dress is extraordinary. It is a strong nod back to the Couture flapper pieces of the 1920s and 1930s with its simple lines and lack of closures. I have taken some close-ups through the body so that you can see the extraordinary lines of the dress together to create the masterpiece that you see.
  • The dress is extraordinarily simple in the way that it goes onto to the body. You simply slip it on and it drapes into place over the body with no closures.
  • The bodice is cut to drape loosely over you and has a plunging V at the front and also at the back.
  • Panels of the netting are draped over the shoulder to sit softly over the top of the arm. As they draped back up and over the shoulder, they continue at both the front and back. to follow all the way down the plunging Vs.
  • More chiffon panels are added around the waist, down the sides and over the skirt to add a soft movement and pretty feminine feel to the dress.
  • The waist is cut on the more generous side and is meant to just skim over the body.
  • The dress continues from there to curve over the hips and falls to the floor widening out as it near its hem. The sequins taper out as they near the hem so the very lower portion of the skirt is just the netting perfectly tying in everything else with it.
  • The sides fall slightly longer than the front and back and this adds a pretty movement around you when you move. This is once again a nod to flapper pieces.
  • The sequins are remarkable. The pattern mixes iridescent pale purple sequins that take on a silver tone, depending on how the light catches them, with tiny silver, seed beads, larger silver tube beads and little rows of silver sequins topped with tiny beads. These are all laid out in vertical rows to follow the lines of the dress from shoulder to hem.
  • I love the way they catch the light from every angle and how the silk net panels are strategically placed over them to add softness so that they feel romantic rather than startling.
  • The dress is unlined and slips over the head with no closures. Because it has no closures, it is meant to be able to expand more to get onto the body and then just drape into place once on. This should allow it to fit a range of sizes. It looks to have been worn very little if at all.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition

Bust: 13-18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12-15" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: open

I Have A Question: Remarkable Spring 2012 Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture Runway Look 23 Pale Lavender Silk Chiffon Dress

  • The twin of this extraordinary dress walked the Spring 2012 Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture runway.
  • This is the actual piece that was shown on the runway and may very well be the only one in existence. I love that we have both the runway reference photos and video. You can see how fantastically it moves and looks once on the body.
  • The dress would have been made completely by hand in the Paris atelier.
  • The dress is made from a pale lavender silk chiffon that is of extremely high-quality. It has the slightest bit of texture to it, and is all cut on the bias. The colour is even softer than how it photoed and better in person.
  • The seam work on this dress is extraordinary. It is a strong nod back to Couture pieces of the 1920s and 1930s. I have taken some close-ups through the body so that you can see the extraordinary hand done piece-work that has gone into putting the various panels of the dress together to create the flowing masterpiece that you see.
  • The dress is wonderfully simple in the way that it goes onto to the body. You simply slip it on and it hooks and snaps into place around the waist leaving it to flow freely over the body from shoulder to hem.
  • This wrapping around you and hooking into place leaves a high slit up one side so that when you walk or move you see a flash of bare leg. You can see this in the reference photos and video.
  • The bodice is cut to drape loosely over you and has a plunging V at the front, both sides, and at the back. On the runway it was shown over an inner nude piece for the minimum amount of modesty It could be worn like that in real life or a layered over something underneath if you wanted a bit more coverage.
  • The waist is brought in with a wide doubled band of the same silk chiffon and the panels of the bodice blouse softly over the waist band all of the way around you. There is a second interior halter inside at the front that sits slightly more fitted to the body and adds one extra layer of chiffon.
  • The dress curves out over the hips and then the beginning of the volume that you see for the lower skirts is all created by the inset panels that have all been hand placed and sewn.
  • The amount of silk chiffon in the skirt is remarkable. It falls slightly shorter to the front and then curves out around you in a sweep of skirts that is just phenomenal. I love that we have runway videos so you can see how amazing this dress is once it is on and moving.
  • The dress has a single layer interior halter bodice and the skirt is unlined. It slips on and then wraps and closes with a hook and hidden set clear snaps at the waist. This is the actual dress that was worn on the runway and is completely made by hand. It is the original runway sample dress. You could move and adjust the hook and snaps at the waist to get the perfect fit.
  • There is no size tag present because it is Haute couture sample so please go by the measurements listed below
  • Excellent condition

On the runway, the dress was shown with a fur shrug. If you are interested in acquiring that I may be able to source that for you independent of this dress. Please touch base to chat further.

Bust: each inner halter covers to 7" flat across from side to side
Waist: 13" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: open

Total length: 69" from top of shoulder to front hem and the back extends up to another 17" past that.

Prettiest Resort 2010 Lanvin by Alber Elbaz Look 39 Version Pink Floral Silk Strapless Dress

I Have A Question: Prettiest Resort 2010 Lanvin by Alber Elbaz Look 39 Version Pink Floral Silk Strapless Dress

  • A longer version of this dress was a part of the presentation as Look 39 for the resort 2010 collection
  • It was made under the creative direction of Alber Elbaz.
  • Alber Elbaz cited Acapulco as an inspiration for the collection and you can see that in the bright floral print of this dress. In Vogue's review of the collection that noted the same saying; 'You could see it in the lime-and watermelon-wedge pendant necklaces, the straw hats decorated with tropical fabric flowers, and the raffia-accented flats'.
  • This was final look of the show before the last four wedding dresses presented.
  • I love it in this shorter length which makes it a touch more wearable to me.
  • This is such pretty and easy to wear dress. It is actually a very simple shape that is meant to skim over the bust, waist and hips.
  • It is strapless with band of gathered elastic around the top of the neck line to hold it easily in place on you.
  • The dress floats over the bodice and then there is another smaller elastic that runs around the waist. The bodice is cut so that it drapes over the waist a touch.
  • The skirt falls in a pretty A-line to just past the knee depending on your height.
  • It is made out of a feather like silk that has that gorgeous bright pink floral pattern over it. The silk is soft and light in weight so it is very easy to fit and wear.
  • Attached at the waist is a deep yellow flower and then a little gathered bit of pink ribbon sits beside that to add some detailing and a pop of extra colour.
  • The dress is flattering, shows a mile of leg, and is a really fun piece of his work that is very representative of his approach to fashion.
  • The dress is unlined and slips on to wear. The ribbon and flower at the waist is tacked into place. The easy fit and elastic should allow it to work on a range of sizes. It appears to have been worn very little at all.
  • Tagged a Lanvin size 38.
  • Excellent condition

Bust: to 18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Elastic waist: 12-18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: to 21" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 11" from top of bodice to waist
Total length: 40" from top of bodice to hem and the length will come up, depending on where you put the elastic waste on yourself.

Fantastic Fall 2008 Roberto Cavalli Runway Look 38 Lace Cream Dress w Floral Shoulder Detail

I Have A Question: Fantastic Fall 2008 Roberto Cavalli Runway Look 38 Lace Cream Dress w Floral Shoulder Detail

  • The twin of this dress walked the Fall 2008 runway for Look 38.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli.
  • The dresses in the collection had a bit of a 1950s feel to them and you can clearly see that inspiration in this dress yet it still feels fresh.
  • The dress is fitted through the bodice with an inner cupped and lightly boned corset to hold it in place around you.
  • It is suspended from the shoulder with the little silk straps and one shoulder has a spray of pale pink silk flowers following the curve of the strap.
  • I love how the bodice falls in a bit of an angle at the front and also at the back. This whimsical little detail is so romantic and feel.
  • The waist is nipped in and the dress is fitted over the top of the hips as it curves back out and over you.
  • The skirt falls from there and the ruffle details start just under the hip.
  • The skirt is incredibly full and has layers of horizontal bands of a soft lace that overlap each other all the way to the hem. A stiffened inner hem helps to hold the shape and volume.  Underneath that are multiple layers of ivory silk netting to hold the volume.
  • You can see in the photos that the skirt has a touch of transparency to it was just adds to its light and airy feel.
  • The entire dress is covered in a soft ivory lace that adds an incredibly romantic feel to the piece.
  • The dress has an inner built-in corset the dress is lined in an ivory silk and it closes with a hidden set side zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • There is no size tag present, so please go by the measurements listed below.

Spring 2012 Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton Black Lace Dress w Fabulously Full Lower Skirting

I Have A Question: Spring 2012 Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton Black Lace Dress w Fabulously Full Lower Skirting

  • The twin of this dress was featured in the Spring 2012 collection Lookbook sent out to select retailers.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Sarah Burton.
  • Lace was one of the primary fabrics that Sarah Burton used for the Spring 2012 collection and Vogue reported that "She based her collection on the three Gs: Grès for the pleating and draping, Gaudí for the architecture, and Gaia for the sense of all-encompassing oceanic life that infused the clothes, like the outfits composed of coral or shells."
  • Pink wore its twin for an editorial shoot and Du Juan wore one on the red carpet.
  • We have had a gold version in the shop before and I'm very pleased to have found this black one that matches the Lookbook and red carpets that it's twins appeared on.
  • The dress is made out of a black lace that tops a pale nude silk underneath.
  • The neckline is a scooped and the bodice is shaped to flow over your curves. The waist is a touch on the more easy side and you could easily add a wide corset belt to get the effect you see in the reference photos and really cinch it in.
  • It curves over the hips to about the knee and then the lower skirts explodes out from there.
  • Insets of the same lace with a layers of silk organza underskirts are set all the way around. If you lay the lower skirt out flat it has more volume than a full circle. This is what creates that incredibly full effect and the volume that the skirt has. We did not add any additional underskirts for these photos, all of that beautiful sweeping volume is all built-in.
  • The back is cut slightly longer then the front so you get this beautiful sweeping effect behind you as you walk.
  • This dress is Sarah at her best and a highly collectible piece.
  • The dress is fully lined in a pale nude silk through the body of the dress and then silk organza is set under the lower skirts. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • Tagged McQueen 40.

I Have a Question

Chic Cruise 2007 Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Black Knit & Lace Detailed Dress w Little Attached Mini Sleeves

I Have A Question: Chic Cruise 2007 Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Black Knit & Lace Detailed Dress w Little Attached Mini Sleeves

  • This dress is from the Resort 2007 Chanel collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld.
  • Everything about this dress has that chic Chanel feel that makes many of Karl's designs forever classics.
  • It is beautiful in person and the simple lines and cut make it the kind of dress that you can wear multiple times with the styling and accessories you add making it feel different each time.
  • The dress is made of very light black knit that has different finishes depending on where the knit is placed on the dress. These help to define the various parts of the dress and add visual interest.
  • On the bodice and the tiny sleeves the knit is done in a light ribbing. The ribbing is used again to circle around the skirt just under the hip area. In between the knit is a solid fine weave and that also carries down to the bottom portion of a skirt as well with a little cut out detail running all the way around the lower hem.
  • Underneath the bottom hem there is an added double layer of a slightly stiffened lace for the prettiest detail. This same lace also tops each little sleeve.
  • The dress has no closures. You simply slip it over the head and it drapes over the body perfectly once you have it on.
  • The front and back necklines are scooped higher across and there is a little Chanel logo button on the top of each shoulder that holds the dress in place.
  • It is meant to be more fitted over the bodice as the knit stretches over you. It runs past the waist and then the dress starts to widen out as it skims out and over the hips. It continues to gently widen out as it nears the hem.
  • I love the little sleeves. They are attached along the side of the dress and the opening for the arm is cut a little lower than normal to accommodate this. They sit snuggly around the upper arm and add a pretty little detail.
  • The dress is fully lined in a soft inner stretch knit layer and has no closures except for the two buttons at the top of the shoulders. The knit does have some stretch and I have put the range when laying flat below.
  • Tagged a Chanel 34
  • Excellent condition

Sleeves: 6" and are just a touch over 7" around where the lace attaches. That is the area with the least amount of stretch.

Hips: 16-18" flat across from side seam to side seam

Book Documented Spring 1988 Bill Blass Bright Pink Silk & Black Net Ruffle Dress w Pouf Sleeves

I Have A Question: Book Documented Spring 1988 Bill Blass Bright Pink Silk & Black Net Ruffle Dress w Pouf Sleeves

  • This gorgeous dress is from the Spring 1988 Bill Blass collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Bill Blass.
  • The twin of the dress is documented in the book on his work titled "Bill Blass: An American Designer".
  • I love that we also have the runway and advance photos so you can see just how fantastic this dress is once on the body.
  • Please note that we do have the rosette with the trailing ribbons that you see in the reference photos. It was sent after the dress was shot for the site and will be sent with the dress.
  • The dress is made out of a bright pink silk that has a finish that slightly stiffens the fabric and this is what allows it to hold it shape. The fabric also has a slight iridescence to it and is very pretty in person. The colour is slight different pink than how much photoed but it is nice and vibrant.
  • The neckline cuts across and is shaped around the bust to the waist. The waist is nipped in and this added shape around the middle balances the volume above and below.
  • The skirt curves out in an almost bell shape and then come slightly in at the bottom. This creates a beautiful shape once on and you really get a sense of that in the runway shots.
  • The sleeves are phenomenal. They are attached and hand stitched in along the edges of the bodice and they have a elastic running around the inside to hold it around your arm and top of shoulder. They are gathered into a piped pink silk band at the other end and the gathering and extra layer of fabric inside are what helps to hold their incredible full shape.
  • Onto the bodice and the sleeves is a black stiffened netting that would have traditionally been used as an inner lining/ structure to help hold the shape of a hem of a skirt for example. Using it as a detail on the exterior of the dress would have been a very unusual and avant-garde choice for this era. I really love when you see these pops of unusual fabrication in his evening pieces.
  • The netting is entirely applied by hand and is set in pretty curving shapes to twist and turn over the bodice and to completely run over the sleeves.
  • This is a fantastic example of his work and very well documented.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching colour pink silk and has a built-in corset that is lightly boned and has its own zipper. There is an attached waist stay that hooks to close along the bottom of that inner corset and then the dress closes with a hidden set zipper over that. Elastic through the tops of the sleeves. The fabric has some very faint fading here and there that is not enough to be photoed. I have never seen a dress made out of this particular type of silk not have this as it ages. Some grubbiness along the very edge of the bottom hem. This is all very minor but mentioned for accuracy. I see one small mark near the zipper at the back. Please see the photo after the label shot. Hand finishes throughout.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition with the one minor note above.

Phenomenal Fall 1991 Jean Louis Scherrer Haute Couture Runway Silk Velvet Cut Devore Cocoon Coat

I Have A Question: Phenomenal Fall 1991 Jean Louis Scherrer Haute Couture Runway Silk Velvet Cut Devore Cocoon Coat

  • The twin of this phenomenal coat walked the runway for the Fall 1991 Jean Louis Scherrer Haute Couture collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Eric Mortensen.
  • The coat would have been completely made by hand in the Paris atelier.
  • This coat is a dream and I feel like the photos do not fully convey how beautiful it is in real life. It is made out of a cut silk devore and has the feel of a 1920s couture flapper coat.
  • The fabric is outstanding. The base silk is a pale olive green and then the silk velvet on top of that is the prettiest softest brown. The velvet catches the light and changes how its colour feels slightly depending on how the light hits it.
  • The pattern that covers it is a beautiful floral pattern that trails over the entire coat.
  • The collar is soft and is a nod to the extended shawl collars of the 1920s. There is some padding built into the shoulders for some structure.
  • The sleeves extend out from the waist so they are very wide around the body and then they narrow down to the opening that you slip your hand through.
  • To wear the coat you simply slip it on. It has no closures and once on it drapes into place around you falling in beautiful, curving draped lines around you.
  • The hem is cut so that it curves up and around at the front and falls longer at the back.
  • This is a piece that you really cannot get the full sense of until it is on and moving. It wraps around you in a cloud of silk velvet and silk. It is so very good.
  • The coat is fully lined in a very high end olive coloured silk and has no closures. All of the work is done completely by hand to couture standards. The proper Haute Couture numbered tag is present. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. The generous cut should fit just about any frame. It will just be more draped and cocoon feeling the smaller you are.
  • There is no size tag present because it is true Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition

Sleeves: approx 19" and are full and open around the upper arm
Shoulders: no true defined seam
Bust-hips: open
Total length: 60" from neck to back hem

Modern Sizing Equivalent: OSFA

I Have a Question

Incredible Spring 1990 Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture Runway Look 50 Ivory Silk Dress

I Have A Question: Incredible Spring 1990 Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture Runway Look 50 Ivory Silk Dress

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1990 Haute Couture collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
  • Its twin was shown under a jacket on model Gloria Burgess and we found the original sketch of the dress in my YSL folio.
  • I thought it interesting to see that Gloria was not the original model intended for the dress and that there was a change by Yves as to who wore it on the actual runway and you can see that interesting little detail in the sketch. I have included all the reference photos for you here and it gives you a beautiful idea of how fabulous this is once on the body.
  • This is also the collection that the book 'Yves Saint Laurent: Catwalk' notes that "The end of this catwalk show was greeted by 10 minutes of a standing ovation, following Yves Saint Laurent's homage - via 119 designs - to the hugely talented men and women who had thus far influenced him and made an impression upon him".
  • The dress is gorgeous and Yves always cut his couture pieces so perfectly. It really is a beautiful piece and in my opinion, owning a piece of his couture work is one of the ultimate vintage acquisitions.
  • It would have been made entirely by hand in the Paris atelier.
  • The dress is made out of a rich ivory silk of the type  that you only see in the very best pieces of couture.
  • The top is cut to skim over you and blouse over the waist.
  • The shoulders have padding to extend the line of them outwards a touch over the ends of the shoulder. The sleeves are cut full through the upper arms and then narrow to the wrists. Each cuff ends with four handmade silk covered buttons and loops and each button is functional.
  • The neckline is set a touch wide across. The silk is gathered around the waist into soft folds to create a little extra bit of a detailing. The folds are set slightly off to the side and on an slight angle that visually helps to extend the body of the person wearing it.
  • The waist is seamed but cut on the more generous side. To cinch it in we have added an ivory silk chiffon sash that is a beautiful match to the dress.
  • The skirt falls under that in a simple shape that flares out as it nears the hem. It falls to just about the knee or above depending on your height and there are hidden pockets along each hip.
  • The colour of the silk is beautiful creamy ivory. This is a brilliant dress and when you see it in person you will fall in love with how good it is in person. It really shows how sometimes simplicity can have so much of an impact.
  • The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk and all the work is done by hand to Haute Couture standards. It closes with a hand set side zipper and a button at the back of the neck. An inner waist stay hooks to close. Each cuff has four hand made silk buttons and loop. Padding in each shoulder as described above. Proper Haute Couture numbered label present. The silk chiffon sash is not original to the dress but will be sent with it. Any change in colour that you see in the photos is lighting.
  • There is no size tag present because it is true Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition
  • Sleeves: 22" and 14" around the upper arm
    Slightly wide set shoulders: 16"
Bust: to 21" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12.5-13" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: to 21" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 16" from top of shoulder to waist but meant to blouse a bit
Total length: 38" from top of shoulder to hem with 2" turned under

Spring 2012 Ralph Lauren Purple Label Runway Look 53 Backless Ivory Jersey Dress w Pearl Belt

I Have A Question: Spring 2012 Ralph Lauren Purple Label Runway Look 53 Backless Ivory Jersey Dress w Pearl Belt

    • The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2012 Ralph Lauren Purple Label runway for Look 53.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Ralph Lauren.
    • The dress was also photoed for Vogue on Daria Werbowy and I love that it gives you the opportunity to see it on yet another person.
    • The Purple Label from Ralph Lauren are the high-end demi-couture pieces the label creates. Ralph Lauren launched it in 1994 and the label was meant to be the pinnacle line for the brand.
    • You can see how phenomenally the dress moves in the reference video.
    • The dress does have the option to hook in place at the back like how it is shown on the runway reference photos. You can also wear it more open to the sides as it is shot on the dress form. We decided to do this so you could see both ways. The reference photos also show you how the panels go around the arms.
    • The dress is made out of a white jersey that is very fluid and has lots of movement to it.
    • It comes with its original belt. The belt is made out of glass pearls and beads and has a bit of weight to it. It is finished with tassels at each end and it is gorgeous.
    • The front is suspended from the strip of fabric that curves up and over the shoulders and then curves down to the back. There is a little piece of matching fabric that gives you the option to hook it at the back as shown on the runway photos or it can be left open to give you a completely open back.
    • At the front it drapes beautifully down to the waist and puffs out above the seam. Attached panels at the sides drape around the arm or they can be worn under the arm as well.
    • From there, the skirt flows to the ground in a beautiful drape of the jersey. It is in its original uncut length and there are many yards of fabric in the skirt. The top layer sits over an inner white lingerie stretch silk jersey layer that is light enough to still retain the gorgeous movement the piece has.
    • The dress is backed with a silk jersey through the bodice. Built into the dress and attached around the waist is an inner bottom piece made of a nude lingerie stretch jersey. It snaps into place and holds the dress perfectly around you and adds an extra layer of opacity. It shows no signs of wear. The dress is in its original uncut length. I see a tiny mark here and there around the hem.
    • The dress is tagged a modern Ralph Lauren 4
    • Excellent condition

Bust: 15-17" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12.5-13.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
    Hips: open
Bodice: approximately 17" from top of shoulder to waist but does blouse over once on
Total length: approximately 64" from shoulder to hem but small portion of the length will be lost when the top blouses over the waist.

    Modern Sizing Equivalent: SML-MED

    I Have a Question

Stunning Fall 1994 Givenchy Haute Couture Original Runway Sample Dress w Front Black Bow

I Have A Question: Stunning Fall 1994 Givenchy Haute Couture Original Runway Sample Dress w Front Black Bow

    • The twin of the dress walk the runway for the Fall 1994 Givenchy Haute Couture collection and this is that actual runway sample.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Hubert de Givenchy.
    • I love that the reference photos are in colour so that you can see just how gorgeous this actual dress is once on the body.
    • The dress would have been completely made by hand in the Paris atelier.
    • The fabric is exceptional. It is a red woven silk that has a black glitter pattern applied directly onto the fabric. The black glitter swirls over the dress and is like an exaggerated line drawing that has been hand drawn over the dress. It is a wonderful way to add detail without overwhelming the cut and lines of the piece.
    • The front scoops down into a curved V and a black velvet bow sits at the base of the V for the perfect added detail. From there it skims over the bust, curves in at the waist and then curves back out to the top of the hip. All of the shape is created through vertical panels pieced perfectly together.
    • The skirt is set into the seam that runs across the top of the hips. The volume that you see is created by the way that it is constructed. It's pleated on the outside and inside. There are several layers of the same fabric done in stacked rose to help support the exaggerated fullness around the top of the hip. From there the skirt falls to the floor in a beautiful outward line. There are many yards of fabric in the skirt and it's volume perfectly balances the fullness through the shoulders.
    • The sleeves are extraordinary. They are slightly capped above the shoulder line and they widen out around the shoulder. From there they narrow down to the their ends where there are four hand covered buttons in the same fabric and a zipper to close the wrist.
    • Every line of the dress is exquisite and it is a remarkably elegant and beautiful piece of Couture.
    • The dress is fully lined in a handset red silk through the bodice and a red silk organza through the skirt. It closes with a back set zipper and there is a zipper at each wrist as described above. Light padding in each shoulder. I see evidence that the back seams were let out. This would be very easy to bring back in if you needed to. There is slight fading to the fabric along the top edges of the shoulder and near the edge of the hem. This is a direct consequence of this type of fabric and I have seen it many times on pieces this age. Please see the photos after the label shot. The dress does not have its main label but has its original Couture sample tag in place.
    • There is no size tag present since it is Haute Couture so please go buy the measurements listed below
    • Excellent overall condition

Sleeves: 26" and are 16" around the upper arm
    Slightly inset shoulders: 14"
Bust: 17" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 13.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
    Hips: open
Bodice: 20" from top of shoulder to seam at the top of the hips
Total length: 61" from top of shoulder to front hem, 63" to the back hem with 4.5" turned under the hem
