Outstanding Spring 2001 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 38 Sequin Detailed Sweater & Silk Skirt Set

I Have A Question: Outstanding Spring 2001 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 38 Sequin Detailed Sweater & Silk Skirt Set

  • The twin of this set walked the runway for the Spring 2001 ODLR runway for Look 38.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
  • Vogue said of the show that "Oscar de la Renta never strayed far from his signature brand of elegance but this time around his collection felt lighter and breezier than usual. His well established clientele will certainly go for classic favourites like the playful silk crystal, pleated skirt to the knee worn with preppy, navy cashmere sweaters". Or as in this case, the reverse, with the sweater being the embellished piece paired with a floor length silk skirt.
  • The set is absolutely fantastic and I love that you can mix and match both pieces with other things you already own to extend the life and wearability of the piece.
  • The sweater is a little masterpiece. It has a pretty pastel pattern done on its base with abstract colours set in rows on the sweater. The colours deepen as they run down the sweater and I love the print.
  • Onto the surface of the knit are tiny little seed beads mixed with iridescent sequins in a variety of colours that pull the colours from the sweater. You can clearly see on the back that these have all been hand applied.
  • The sweater itself is a simple shape with a boat neck and cap sleeves. The lower part on each side has been slightly gathered for shape around the waist.
  • The skirt picks up on the pattern of the top but in a slightly different way and pattern. The colours fall more vertically over the skirt and all the way around you.
  • The silk chiffon top layer of the skirt has been loosely pleated and there is a ton of fabric in it so that it swishes and moves fantastically around you as you move. It has a inside band of grosgrain ribbon to hold the shape around the waist and then it falls open and easy around you to the floor.
  • Even without video from the show you can see in the runway reference photos how fantastically this moves.
  • It is a phenomenal set and a fantastic example of his work during this time period.
  • The sweater is unlined and slips over the head to wear. There is a hidden set side zipper partway up one side and three hook and eye closures along the top of one shoulder. There are some loose threads here and there but no open or bare areas of the embellishment. The skirt closes with a hidden set side zipper and is fully lined in a pale nude silk chiffon.
  • The top has no size tag and the skirt is tagged a vintage ODLR 8
  • Excellent condition

Important & Rare Fall 1993 Azzadine Alaia Black Ribed Knit Laser Cut Out & Fringe Dress

I Have A Question: Important & Rare Fall 1993 Azzadine Alaia Black Ribed Knit Laser Cut Out & Fringe Dress

  • The dress is from the Fall 1993 collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Azzedine Alaia.
  • Azzedine Alaia pieces are always a delight to find. His knits were all self developed and are among the best out there. He started his career as a dressmakers assistant  and copied couture gowns for wealthy Tunisian clients. In 1957 he moved to Paris and worked for Christian Dior for a grand total of five days. He then moved to Guy Laroche and quietly started to get private commissions on the side. By 1960 he was doing mainly private work and within a few years established a small salon on the Left Bank where he continued designing privately. He stayed at that salon until 1984.
  • During this time period he also did private freelance work for other designers including Claude Montana, Thierry Mugler and even Yves Saint Laurent. It was not until 1981 that he launched his first official collection and by 1983 he had a boutique in Beverley Hills.
  • The French Ministry of Culture honoured him with the Designer of the Year award in 1985. In 1993 he decided that the established fashion show schedule was not for him and he stopped producing a new collection every season. Instead he showed when his collections were ready and continued to do so until his death in 2017.
  • This is a fantastic and well known a piece that is very desired by collectors. We have included reference photos of other pieces from the collection that have become important milestones of his earlier work.
  • The dress is made out of a ribbed cable knit wool that has a small percentage of other components to help give it some stretch and support. This makes it sit beautifully over the body and hug your curves as his dresses are known for.
  • The neck has a pretty ribbed finish and the shoulders are soft.
  • From there the sleeves extend out over the arm and it is here that you see the first of the detailing that makes this dress such a standout.
  • Starting at about the elbow the ribbing of the dress changes to a oval pattern that is open and bare in the middle of each oval so that the skin underneath is fully exposed. These gradually get larger in size as they fall to the wrist. The knit between the the oval pattern extends out to become the fringes that fall over your hands. This adds incredible movement and is just extraordinary.
  • The body of the dress skims over the bust and waist and then curves back out over the hips. The skirt starts just under the top of the hips and is cut short as it flares out around you. Many of his pieces had that bit of a skater skirt feel to them and this is a fabulous example of that.
  • The skirt has that same extraordinary open cut out detailing as the sleeves and even though it is not as short as some of his other pieces often were, having the cut outs expose your skin underneath makes it very sexy.
  • I love that the cut outs through the skirt allow you to decide what to wear underneath and be as bare or covered as you choose to be.
  • The skirt is then also finished with those same wide knit fringing so you get incredible movement around you when you move and walk.
  • This is one of his best known collections and a very rare piece to find.
  • The dress is unlined and closes with a hidden set back zipper. The knit does have some stretch and I have put the comfortable range when laying flat below.
  • There is no size tag present. Please go by the measurements below.

Fall 2023 Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello Mens Runway Look 13 Long Super Soft Knit Coat

I Have A Question: Fall 2023 Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello Mens Runway Look 13 Long Super Soft Knit Coat

  • The twin of this coat was shown on the Fall 2023 menswear runway for Look 13.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Anthony Vaccarello.
  • The Vogue review opened with four words "Long, tall, lean, chic." And that aptly describes the coats for this collection. They were so wanted by everyone that when they were released to the shops they were sent out as a unisex piece available to women as well as men.
  • This one is in pristine condition and is new with its original tags.
  • The cut is simple and classic and yet the length and sleek cut makes it feel very avante garde and unique.
  • It is made from an extra soft black knit that borders on a deep charcoal. The knit combines mohair and wool and this keeps it light in weight but with enough structure to hold the shape.
  • The light weight makes it a lot easier to wear then you would initially think given all of the fabric.
  • The collar is very full and borders on being able to be used as a hood. I think that most would be able to bring it up and on their head if they wished. Because the fabric is so light in weight it sits very well around the neckline without being bulky.
  • The sleeves are long. They start out wider near the shoulder and narrow to a very lightly ribbed cuffs. Rounded padding, sits in each shoulder to help hold the shape.
  • It is cut to skim and flow down past the bust, waist and hips. The lower part of the coat continues from there to fall to the floor, gently widening out as it nears the hem.
  • There are no front closures. You simply use the matching knit belt to wrap around the waist to add shape. It has a touch of a men's bathrobe/robe feel that is fantastic.
  • The coat is unlined and slips on to wear. It comes with its original matching belt and is in its original supermodel length. Its original hang tag is still attached. It's easy and open shape. Should allow it to fit a full range sizes. It will just drape more and feel more oversized on smaller frames.

Chic Cruise 2007 Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Black Knit & Lace Detailed Dress w Little Attached Mini Sleeves

I Have A Question: Chic Cruise 2007 Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Black Knit & Lace Detailed Dress w Little Attached Mini Sleeves

  • This dress is from the Resort 2007 Chanel collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld.
  • Everything about this dress has that chic Chanel feel that makes many of Karl's designs forever classics.
  • It is beautiful in person and the simple lines and cut make it the kind of dress that you can wear multiple times with the styling and accessories you add making it feel different each time.
  • The dress is made of very light black knit that has different finishes depending on where the knit is placed on the dress. These help to define the various parts of the dress and add visual interest.
  • On the bodice and the tiny sleeves the knit is done in a light ribbing. The ribbing is used again to circle around the skirt just under the hip area. In between the knit is a solid fine weave and that also carries down to the bottom portion of a skirt as well with a little cut out detail running all the way around the lower hem.
  • Underneath the bottom hem there is an added double layer of a slightly stiffened lace for the prettiest detail. This same lace also tops each little sleeve.
  • The dress has no closures. You simply slip it over the head and it drapes over the body perfectly once you have it on.
  • The front and back necklines are scooped higher across and there is a little Chanel logo button on the top of each shoulder that holds the dress in place.
  • It is meant to be more fitted over the bodice as the knit stretches over you. It runs past the waist and then the dress starts to widen out as it skims out and over the hips. It continues to gently widen out as it nears the hem.
  • I love the little sleeves. They are attached along the side of the dress and the opening for the arm is cut a little lower than normal to accommodate this. They sit snuggly around the upper arm and add a pretty little detail.
  • The dress is fully lined in a soft inner stretch knit layer and has no closures except for the two buttons at the top of the shoulders. The knit does have some stretch and I have put the range when laying flat below.
  • Tagged a Chanel 34

Sleeves: 6" and are just a touch over 7" around where the lace attaches. That is the area with the least amount of stretch.

Iconic Spring 2017 Celine by Pheobe Philo Pale Red-Pink & Ivory Knit Sweater Dress w Exaggerated Ribbing

I Have A Question: Iconic Spring 2017 Celine by Pheobe Philo Pale Red-Pink & Ivory Knit Sweater Dress w Exaggerated Ribbing

  • This is a dress from the Spring 2017 collection. It was not a piece shown on the runway but it was shown in the Lookbook for that season and has since become another of her iconic pieces.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Pheobe Philo
  • As with many of her pieces, this dress and the longer variation of it that were released, were loved by her loyal clients. We have included some photos for reference for you so you can see how this looks on the body.
  • The knit has stretch so it is very easy-to-wear dress. This one is the slightly shorter length that has the added patchwork insets of extra colour at the sides. The longer length was a more monotone with the ivory hem. You can see the difference in the reference photos.
  • The neck line is cut wider across the top and there is a slight seam that runs underneath the neckline where the striping has been offset for a little added detail. The sleeves are long and are slit at their wrist. There is a gusset set underneath each arm with the stripes set differently there as well.
  • From there the dress skims over you to the hem. The stretch and ribbing allow it to expand and contract as needed as it follows the body. She has used seams to cleverly break up the stripes and change the direction of the ribbing. On one side there is an inset of a more densely woven knit that runs all the way to the hem for a block of extra colour.
  • The front bottom portion of the hem and around partway to the back is finished with an ivory knit.
  • The colours of the net are a pinky-red and an ivory. The way it has been knit creates a beautiful texture and colour over the entire dress.
  • The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear with no closures. It has its original tag attached and was never worn. The easy cut and stretch of the knit should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

I Have a Question

Cruise 2003 Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Black & Ivory Cashmere Knit Dress

I Have A Question: Cruise 2003 Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Black & Ivory Cashmere Knit Dress

  • This is a piece from the Cruise 2003 collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
  • The show that year took place at the Café Marly in Paris. For this show, Karl paid homage to the elegance of French waiters and their traditional black and white uniforms. All of the pieces that season were primarily black and white with grey tones. Once you realize the theme of the show, you can see the loose reference to a long apron tied over the dress.
  • I love Chanel cashmere pieces. There is nothing in the world like the cashmere that Chanel uses. It is just exceptionally high end and to have this dress made from it is fantastic.
  • The dress is in its original length and falls from the the neck in a long sheath that skims over the body. The dress ties behind the neck and the ties that hold it in place are exceptionally long. They trail down almost to the floor at the back, becoming a design detail themselves. I love how their ends change to black to pick up the change in colour on the body of the dress.
  • The front is scooped and the fabric is brought in slightly at the waist and then curves out and around the hips. It comes back in by the bottom of the dress and there is a slit up one side.
  • The back is scooped, low for a bare expanse of skin.
  • A little rectangle sits at the top of one hip with the Chanel name on it.
  • Unlined and slips on to wear with ties at the back of the neck. Made from 100% cashmere.
  • The dress has some stretch and I have given the comfortable range of measurements below while it is lying flat. It should fit a range of sizes and is an easy fit.
  • Tagged a vintage Chanel 40.
  • Excellent condition.
  • Bust: 15-18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 14.5-17" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 18-21" flat across from side seam to side seam
Length: approx 60" from neck to hem with the length adjustable by how tight or loose you tie it behind the neck

    I Have a Question

Spring 2012 Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Pale Pink Knit Dress w Front Flower Detail

I Have A Question: Spring 2012 Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Pale Pink Knit Dress w Front Flower Detail

    • A shorter version walked the runway for Spring 2012 for Look 47
    • Under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
    • The body of the dress is a pale pink knit whose design is set in little individual scallops that slightly overlap the one underneath. It is very intricate and beautiful
    • The neckline is scooped and there are flowers made out of stiffened silk organza mixed with an iridescent fabric that also is stiffened. These are curled inward to form petals. There is a cluster of five flowers around the neck and then ten run down the centre of the front. More circle around the entire hem. The iridescent petals catch the light and add a beautiful dimension to the dress.
    • The sleeves are made out of a ivory silk chiffon and each closes with a little domed Chanel button with the double C logo in gold. A third button sits at the back of the neck. Despite having the Chanel button I think that these sleeves may have been added at a later date or upon request of the client. It would explain why they still have the Chanel buttons but they don't look like they were integral to the dress by the way they are set into the arm. I have left it as found but if you did not like them they could easily be removed.
    • The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear. It buttons to close at the back of the neck and on each cuff.
    • Tagged a Chanel 36
    • The button at the back of the neck has lost its little gold double C logo. I see a tiny little break in the silk at the top of one shoulder. It otherwise is an excellent condition.

Sleeves: 23" and are 13" around the upper arm
Bust: 15-18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 15-17" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 17-19" flat across from side seam to side seam
Total length: 36" from neck to hem

Gorgeous Fall 2004 Alexander McQueen 'Pantheon Ad Lecum' Runway Off Shoulder Knit Dress

I Have A Question: Gorgeous Fall 2004 Alexander McQueen 'Pantheon Ad Lecum' Runway Off Shoulder Knit Dress

This is a spectacular and rare dress from the Fall 2004 McQueen show and its twin walked the runway that season. On the runway it was shown with a sash wrapped around the hips and you could easily replicate this if you wished. It is equally as good on its own. The runway pieces were not produced in significant numbers and were often only found at the flagship stores in very limited quantities. For this collection McQueen was quoted as saying that he wanted to 'strip away all theatrics and focus purely on design'. The colours in the show focused on a nude palette and these taupe pieces were a predominant element in the collection. He also kept the embellishments to the bare minimum throughout the collection and this dress showcases that nod towards simplicity.

The dress is made from a very fine knit jersey that has a slight sheen to it. The seams are then either surged and top stitched, or have been covered and highlighted with a silk cording. This use of the seams as a way to create design details within the dress is a very McQueen feeling signature and it really highlights the cut of the piece. The neckline on the dress is a wide ribbed panel that has a lot of stretch available to it. You could wear it up and off the shoulders but it is best worn as shown on the runway, stretched and pulled down to leave the shoulders bare and exposed. The bodice is cut to skim over you and the sleeves are long. Each sleeve has some fullness above its 4" cuff. On the runway, they pulled the cuff up and inside so you just saw the part that blouses over and not the cuffs itself. A very clever styling trick. From there it continues past the hips to the floor. If you thought the way the seams have been detailed on the bodice is pretty, the skirt is magical. There are stacked side by side peaked panels whose tops sit at different heights around the entire skirt. Each has a touch of open cut work around their seams which gives the dress more depth and detail. This piecing of the side by side panels also allows the skirt to have more of a flare at its bottom. You can see how beautifully it moves in the runway video here. It is my understanding from my client that only a limited amount of these were produced. This is an iconic piece of McQueen's history. Excellent condition with a minor note below

Fully lined in an ivory stretch lingerie type fabric and slips over the head to wear. The knit jersey has stretch and the measurements below are the comfortable range when the dress is laying flat. I see a tiny area on the knit where it misses a stitch. Please see the photo after the label shot. Tagged a McQueen 38. Any change in colour you see is just the lighting. The stretch fabric should allow it to accommodate a variety of sizes.

    Sleeves: 25"
    Shoulders: variable
Bust: 17-21" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 11.5-15" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 17-22" flat across from side seam to side seam
Total length: approx 60" from the top of the natural shoulder to hem

    Modern Sizing Equivalent: XS-MED
