• The dress dates to the time period between 1976-1978.
• It was made under the creative direction of Loris Azzaro.
• Azzaro launched his label in 1967 and quickly defined his trademark looks by using ornate fabrics and avant garde ways of defining the body.
• Some of the most beautiful women in the world wore his clothing including Marisa Berenson, Raquel Welch, Jane Birkin, Sophia Loren and Tina Turner. 
• By the seventies and eighties he was experimenting with volume and proportions and new fabrics that at the time were all cutting edge.
• This is a stunning example of his work from the mid- to later part of the 1970s. To give you an idea of the way the paper bodice fits I have included a photo of French singer Dalida and one if Raquel Welch both wear dresses similar to the bodice of this one.
• The dress combines glossy black sequins with a netted tulle skirt.
• The dress is strapless and the bodice is cut with a rounded sweetheart neckline. The cups are shaped and the dress curves down and over the waist. From there is continues back out to curve over the hips.
  
• This entire extended upper portion of the dress is completely covered in glossy black sequins that catch the light from every angle. The sequins have been applied to the dress so that they each overlap the one next to it creating a dense application.
• Under that the skirt falls to the floor and widen out as it near the hem. 
• The skirt is made out of of a netted tulle that is set in ruffle layers that curve up and toward the front. The layers of ruffles give the skirt incredible movement when you move. A full underskirt sits under that and is done in a black silk so that it's opaque enough to wear.
• At the back the length of the bodice is extended a bit before the skirt starts. This is a clever way to create curves and length.
• It is a stunning dress and one of the best I have had from him.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a zipper at the back. His signature cupped strapless bra is tacked inside. You could easily remove or replace this as needed for a better fit. There is elastic around the upper seam of the bodice and the fabric has some give. Hand finished throughout.
• There is no size tag present. Please go by the measurements listed below.

• This dress is from the Spring 2004 Valentino collection
• It was made under the creative direction of the original, Mr. Valentino
• We have included some photos from the Spring 2004 Valentino collection of dresses with similar elements to this one. 
• The dress is made out of a feather light black silk chiffon and the lightness of this fabric choice creates a soft and romantic feel as it floats over your body.
• The entire dress is cut to allow it to drape beautifully over the body and highlight your curves.
• The bodice is finished with tiny and precise pleats that wrap all the way around to the back. The top of the bodice is gathered into a sweetheart and the back sits on a slight curve to leave the upper back bare and exposed.
• A ruffled panel of black silk chiffon is set along straps that are meant to sit off the shoulder. Once this is on a body it will drape perfectly around the upper arm.
• Below that the waist nips in to follow the curve of the body.
• From there the skirt curves out and over the hips and the panels of chiffon that make up the skirt float around you as the skirt falls to the floor.
• The skirt is phenomenal. It is made of a series of vertical panels that are all set in around the waist. They are attached together to just under the hip and set so that they partially overlap each other as they fall to the floor. 
• Each panel is a long rectangle that widens out to curved ends with a matching black silk chiffon ruffle that runs all the way around the entire panel.
• The ruffle is smaller near the top of the hip and then widens out as it circles around the bottom of each panel.
• There is no inner lining under the panels. The overlapping and the multiple layers of the panels are what make the dress opaque enough to wear.  
• The silk chiffon that was used is feather light and the dress is a dream in person. The movement of the panels around you when you move is fantastic.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk chiffon through the bodice and the skirt is constructed as described above. It closes with a hidden set side zipper.  It is in its original uncut length. I see a tiny repair near the hem and along a teeny section along on the bottom edge of one panel. Both these are extremely minor and mentioned for accuracy. It otherwise.appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2000 runway.
• It was made under the creative direction of Thierry Mugler.
• I love that we have both photo and video references so you can see just how beautifully it moves once on the body. And that we have a photo of it with Thierry himself.
• The dress is made out of a nude chiffon that is light-in-weight and drapes beautifully over the body.
• The dress is cut with Mugler's masterful eye and attention to detail.
• It is suspended from one shoulder and the other is left bare and exposed. All the seaming on the dress is set vertically so that it enhances and highlights the curves of the body. 
• The bust and waist are created by the shaping of those beautifully curving vertical seams.
• It skims over the hips and then falls to the floor with a slight widening out as it nears the hem. The hem is cut on a slight angle so that the side that has the shoulder is cut a little bit longer than the other. 
  
• The shoulder is detailed with a panel of fabric that you can sweep behind you for a bit of extra movement when you move.
• At the very top of the shoulder is an extra large custom made piece made out of an acrylic that has pale green rhinestones embedded in it to follow its curves. These would have been custom-made for each dress.
• The very outer layer of the chiffon is split quite high along the edge at the back and this adds incredible movement to the dress as you can see on the runway. You are still fully covered by the inner dress underneath.
• It is an extraordinary dress that is rare and highly collectible. It is even better in person then how it shot here.
• The dress is fully lined and closes with a hidden set side zipper. I see one tiny catch in the fabric near the seam just above the hem. It is very minor and only mentioned for accuracy. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This is a fantastic unlabelled vintage piece that most likely dates to the 1970s but could be earlier.
• It is one of the best unlabelled caftan pieces that I have had in the shop.
• The base fabric is a loose weave fabric that I believe is a type of jute scrim. It has the feel of an extremely light-in-weight burlap with a loose weave that makes it semi-transparent between the embroidered parts. It is utterly fantastic and one of the best textiles I have seen.
• Onto that base is a combination of a dusty rose embroidered thread that has almost the feel of a yarn to it, mixed with a more true pink coloured thread. This forms a gorgeous pattern over the entire caftan and is also used on all of the edges. There is also a third pale silver grey thread that has that same soft finish.
• Mixed into those are both gold and silver metal threads that highlight various parts of the design. They add a gorgeous subtle metallic glint to the piece.
• The cut of the caftan makes it extremely easy-to-wear and fit. It slips over the head with no closures and it is completely open in between the outer side seams. This should allow it to fit just about any body type or frame.
• The neckline is scooped and cut wide across. At the front it is set in a slight V. The shoulders are soft and extend down to the side seams where there is a open slit edged in embroidery that you slip your hands through.
• From there it cascades full and open to the floor and moves beautifully around you when you move. The edges are slightly curved and this creates a beautiful draping down each side. 
• This is an extraordinary textile and one of those pieces you will only ever find in vintage.
• The caftan is unlined and has a slight transparency. To wear it you just slip it over your head and there are no closures. I see perhaps the occasional loose thread but there are no outstanding flaws whatsoever.
• There is no size tag present. Please go by the measurements listed below.

• The twin of this incredible dress walked the runway for Look 31 for the Fall 2010 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• Vogue's review stated that Galliano's Fall ready-to-wear for Dior was "Equestrian-themed, a follow-on from the daywear strand of the acclaimed Couture show in January. This was to be a brisk albeit slightly perfunctory trot around the circuit of Galliano's longtime favourite 18th century."
• In the book Dior:Catwalk they noted that Galliano had baptized the collection "The Seduction of the Libertine". The collection notes read "Riding in from the hunt that began at the Haute Couture, Dior discovers intrigue and inspiration in gallant riding habits as it goes from the stables to the seductive style and verse of those infamous romantics, the 18th century Libertines"... "This season Dior takes up the heroic spirit of the French romanticism." said Galliano.
• This dress is completely cut on the bias and this gives it incredible curves once it is on an actual body. It almost feels like you are wearing nothing because of the soft sand colour and the lightness of the silk chiffon.
• The bodice crosses over itself and there is a silk chiffon ruffle that follows the neckline. This wraps around you and buttons behind the neck. Panels extend out from the top that are cut wide and edged in a ruffle. By tying those around the front of the neck you get that beautiful ruffle falling down the front as seen here and on the runway.
• The bodice skims to a slightly more generously cut waist. If you wanted to add shape you can cinch it in further by belting it.
• At the back it dips low to leave a bare expanse of skin to show.
• The top layer of the skirt wraps over itself as it attaches in around the waist and there is a substantial amount of silk used for the skirt to give it its extensive draping. Under that is a second inner silk layer in the same colour. A slit runs up the side of the inner layer so when you walk you see bare leg. 
• The entire bottom of the skirt has round cut outs in various sizes that circle all the way around the lower skirt. Each of the cut outs are finished with a heavily applied embroidered edge done in a matching coloured thread. This gives the bottom of the dress extraordinary texture and detail.
• This is an incredible and rare documented runway piece.
• The dress is fully lined in a second layer of the same silk chiffon. A row of his signature matching silk covered buttons and loops runs down the side to close the dress. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This gorgeous caftan dress is from the Fall 2014 Valentino collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo & Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri.
• A similar look walked the runway for Look 52 and I love that this gives you a very good idea of how the caftan sits on the body and moves.
• The dress is made out of of a feather light deep blue bias cut silk chiffon that makes it virtually weightless. It comes with its matching separate inner slip that acts as the lining.
• The dress is very easy to wear despite its dramatic presence. It is cut very loose and easy through the entire body and the sleeves are phenomenal.
• A neat little collar made of the same silk chiffon curves around the back of the neck. At the front the neckline sits in a fantastic plunge.
• The body of the dress is loose and easy with inset seams that start under the arm area and run to the hem. This gives the dress a slight bit of shape through the body.
• There are two layers of silk chiffon stacked on top of each other. 
• Between the seam and the outermost edges side, the chiffon is open fully down the sides from the cuffs to the hem. This adds incredible movement around you as you move since it allows the layers of chiffon to catch the air as you move.
• You slip your hands through cuffs and each one closes with a single silk covered button at their ends. When you move your arms the entire caftan from under the cuffs moves as well. From there it swoops down to the hem and the open sides create a pretty draping from the cuff to the hem.
• At the back it falls in one swoop of fabric to give an almost caped effect.
• Worn underneath the outer dress is a simple V-neck bias cut silk slip in single layer of the same silk chiffon. It is so well-made that if you found a nude underslip you could probably wear it as its own piece.
• The movement and boldness of the design is amazing to see. Everything about this dress has a feel of organic movement and drama. It is a remarkable dress and even more stunning on.
• The outer dress is made out of two layers of silk chiffon. The inner slip acts as the lining and it is made out of a single layer. Both pieces slip over the head to wear with no closures. The outer layer is tremendously voluminous and its easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes. On a smaller frame it will just drape more. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1978 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
• We found a reference photo from the runway and it's twin was also used in the ad campaign that season.
• The reference photos show the dress with a sash that is in a solid print. When the dresses were produced and sold in the shops they were sent with matching dotted tie belts.
• I have photoed it here both loose and easy without the tie belt  so you can see how it can be worn as more of a caftan feel and with the belt tied to add shape.
• The dress is made out of a single layer of a black silk chiffon with a multi-colour dot print screened onto the chiffon. It is extremely light-in-weight and moves very beautifully.
• The neckline of the top is set wide across and has an elastic finish so that you can wear it off of the shoulder for a bare expanse of skin to show. I love the little ruffled detail along the edge that the elastic gathering creates.
• Sleeves extend straight out from there and are extremely full and open. They are brought in at the cuff and he repeated the same elastic gathering detail just like on the neckline.
• Under that the dress skims and opens to be very full and easy all the way down to the hem. This gives an incredible movement around you because of the ultra-light weight of the fabric.
• To get a more defined feeling through the middle you just tie the belt and cinch it in as much as you wish. On the runway and in the ad campaign it was styled belted with a solid wider sash. I love that it shows that by changing up the look of the belt it changes up the look of the dress.
  
• It is very full by the hem and I love how the bottom is finished with a very wide band of the same fabric. The front is cut shorter than the back and that extra ruffle around the bottom and the changing length all help to really allow it to move around you.
• This is an absolutely stunning example of his work during this time period and I love that it is so well documented.
• The dress is unlined and it weighs very little. It slips over the head to wear with elastic through the neckline. Each cuff has elastic. The open and loose cut should allow it to fit a wide range of sizes. The belt is original to the dress and is included. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This incredible set dates to 1969.
• It was made under the creative direction of Ossie Clark.
• At this stage in Ossie's journey each piece would have been made individually. The jacket on its own was photoed for Vogue UK that summer and it also appears in the book "Celia Birtwell" by Celia Birtwell. The V&A museum holds a dress version and that same dress version appears in the book "Ossie Clark 1965|74" by Judith Watt.
• I personally have never seen another set like this one available for sale in the 20 years I have been doing this. It is an exceedingly rare set.
• The set was loved and worn. It is not perfect but it presents fabulously once on the body. Its value is largely based on its rarity and special place in Ossie Clark's history.
• Both pieces are made out of printed rayon crepe with one of Celia Birtwell's prints.
• The print is an early appearance of one of Celia Birtwell's most famous. In the book "Celia Birtwell" they describe a yellow version of the same print as a "splashy large Candyflower - a flower enclosed in a swirly motif - one of her most iconic designs.". That same book noted that "Celia's prints brought Ossie's designs to life. The clever way the patterns combine different scales through the eye from one part of the dress to another."
• The check that you see was also developed by Celia and it offered a graphic contrast to the softness of the flower prints that she was doing in this era.
• The pants have a flat banded front and they zip at the front. They fall over the hips and then widen out to be incredibly wide pant legs. Each leg is a full 29 inches around by it's hem.
• The base colour on the pants is a bright clear red and then Celia's flower print in black, white and a deep blue cover the pants entirely.
• Over that is the most incredible piece that is kind of a combination of a jacket and a top. It slips onto wear and then has ties that extend out from the front and tie just under the bust to hold it in place.
• The collar is a classic wide pointed and notched collar that you see in this era.
• The front bodice, the back, the collar and the tie are all made out of the blue and ivory check. That same fabric is also used for the bottom portion of the sleeves. A wide band sits under the bust that made of the flower pattern and you see the flower pattern at the top of each arm. The shoulders have a slight puff to them which is more apparent once it is on an actual body.
• Under that the jacket falls all the way to just a touch above the hem of the pants. It is completely open at the front and it widens out quite a bit as it near it's hem.
• This open front and extra fabric as it opens gives it fantastic movement around you as you move.
• When it is worn over top of the pants, the effect of the print on print is just fantastic.
• This is an extremely rare and early piece of Ossie and Celia's partnership.
• Both pieces are unlined. The pants zip to close at the front and the top ties at the waist as described above. Both pieces have been worn and loved over the years. There is light fading and some small minor marks/grubbiness throughout on both pieces. I have photoed some of the worst for you to see. There is fading around the bum area of the pants and I have photoed that for you. Please see the photos after the label shot. This fabric does fade over time so it is part wear and part natural patina. It presents fantastically once on the body.
• The top is tagged a UK 12 and the pants have no size tag. Please go by the measurements listed below.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1977 Dior show.
• It was made under the creative direction of Marc Bohan.
• I have had several other dresses from this collection and it is a personal favourite season in Dior's history.
• I am very happy to have photo references so you can see how fantastic this dress sits on the body and how it can also be worn belted for added shape.
• The dress is made out of a feather light silk chiffon and comes with its original matching ivory silk slip that can be worn underneath.
• I shot the dress with the shoulders up because the slip underneath has a little straps. On the runway it was shown off the shoulder and I love that you have the option of wearing it either way.
• It has a red and two different blue tone abstract stripe print that runs over the entire dress. You can see how he has manipulated the directions of the stripe to highlight the detailing and shape of the dress.
• Matching ties run through the neckline and this is what allows you to bring the neckline in or to wear it more loos and off of the shoulder. Two more ties close the front under that.
• The sleeves are fantastic. They are very wide where they come out from the body of the dress and then are gathered in at the wrist. They each have a little tie bow and elastic around the cuff with a ruffled finish.
• The body of the dress is very full and open and should fit just about any size.
• I love the inset at the front and how it has just the perfect amount of detail and contrast with the stripes going the other way.
• Around the hem is a wide band that also has the stripes placed the other way to the rest of the dress.
• At the back it falls with a more caped feel if you choose to wear it without a belt. If you do add a belt, you can bring the length up as much as you wish. The styling possibilities are endless.
• The outer dress is unlined and it comes with its matching inner slip. You could switch the switch out for another colour to get a different feel. The dress slips over the head to wear and then ties at the front as described above. The inner slip zips to close at the side. I see some minor pulls in the silk here and there. Please see the photo after the label shot. It is an extraordinary dress from this time period. The dress should fit pretty much any frame and you could always wear a different sized slip underneath if you need more room. Hand finishes throughout.

• This gorgeous Christian Dior dress is from Fall 2018.
  
• It was made under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri.
• In Vogues' interview with Maria she said of the house that "We have to maintain our heritage, but at the same time, transform it into something that's very easy to wear - comfortable to." 
• The twin of this one was seen on various celebrities and socialites and I love that this shows you how fantastic it is once on the body.
• The dress is made out of a feather light silver-grey netting that has a touch of a blue undertone to it. This is mixed with bands of applied lace in a matching colour.
• The bodice of the dress is meant to be more fitted around you but it does not have any inner corset so it is still soft and easy on the body. Instead, it comes with a matching silk slip that allows the dress to be worn since the net and lace combination is transparent.
• The sleeves sit to just pass the elbow and the shoulders are soft. It has a definite. nod to the classic Dior New Look silhouette.
• The waist is nipped in and I love how the scallop edged lace highlights the various parts of the dress as it falls over the body.
• The skirt is cut to be very full. It falls from the nipped in waist and then expands outwards from there. It is set in around the waist and wide inverted flat pleats and these open out substantially as they near the hem.
• This gives the dress a soft and easy movement around you as you move. If you lay the skirt of flat it is just short of being a true circle skirt by the time it reaches to hem.
• Under the top layer of a skirt, there are two additional layers of netting and then all of the dress sits over the separate opaque silk slip that comes with the dress. 
• There is a ton of fabric in a skirt. It is very light in weight so when you stand still it falls with just a slight volume but when you move it really moves around you beautifully.
• It is just outstanding in person and beautifully constructed.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1988 show.
• It was made under the creative direction of Marc Bohan for Christian Dior. 
• The evening portion of the collection focused on short dresses that had a corseted waist and bust with wrapping techniques that gave the feel of a sarong. The dress is a wonderful example of the feel he was after and it is fantastic.
• We found a teeny slice of a photo of it on the runway and even though the photo shows the model on an angle it does give you an idea of how wonderful this will be on the body.
• This would have been made completely by hand in the Paris atelier.
• The fabric is a black silk organza that has been gathered so it has a slight 3D puffed effect. This creates an incredible texture over the dress.
• The fabric is light in weight and despite the elaborate construction of the dress is not at all heavy once it is on.
• Inside the dress has a full proper corset with boning and built in cups to give support . A wide grosgrain ribbon hooks in place around the inner waist.
• All of the seams are finished by hand and its construction is a nod to the early days of couture.
• The bodice is cut with a curving sweetheart neckline and it is meant to hug the body. It is elaborately gathered and fitted around the bust with all of the gathered folds coming in to the seams that run over the bodice.
• It nips in at the waist and there is a large and elaborate bow that sits at the base of an angle seam coming from the bust. I love how this is set to curve around the hip to the back.
• The addition of the bow adds to the hourglass feel the dress has.
• The skirt curves down and comes back in and under the front panel to give it a more wrapped sarong feel.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hand set side zipper. The interior of the bodice is boned and cupped for support. The inner corset closes with its own zipper and a wide band at the interior waist hooks to close. There is a tiniest bit of lightening to some of the edges on the fabric. This is a natural aging of this type of fabric and I do not consider it to be a true flaw but it is mentioned for accuracy. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• Versions of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1992 RTW and Couture collections.
• It was made under the creative direction of Emanuel Ungaro.
• Ungaro launched his label in 1965 after stints at both Balenciaga and Courreges. He was a brilliant designer who was known for his extravagant fabrics and flamboyance. He often participated in the design and execution of new fabrics and for him the design process started there. His work always has a sense of exuberance and joy to it and he mixed fabric and prints with a master's eye.
• The dress is made out of a black silk and then is topped with a heavily gathered layer of black lace. Black sequins are sewn onto that and the bottom is finished with a combination of beading and fringe.
• Both the fabric combination and cut of this dress are fantastic and no matter how great it looks in the photos you will love it even more in person.
• The strapless bodice has a sweetheart neckline and the bodice is meant to hug the body. 
• The top edge of the bodice is finished in a black silk, and I love how it crosses over itself at the very centre. Inside it is shaped with soft structure built in around the bust area.
• It comes slightly in under that to add a touch of shape through the waist and then it curves back over the hips and flares out slightly to the hem.
• This cut that emphasized the curves of the body were a signature of his and really made his pieces flattering once on.
  
• The entire dress is covered in a black lace with curving bands of sequins from top to bottom. I love how this catches the light from every angle and gives the dress some sparkle.
• The lower portion of the hem is phenomenal. A band of horizontally set glossy black oval shaped beads circle around the top of where the fringe is set into the skirt.
• The fringe is fine black cord that is all hand knotted and circles the entire skirt. The fringing is dense and well done.
• Worked into the fringing are dangling strands of glossy black beads in different shapes. This particular finish to the skirt is what you saw on the runway in both the ready-to-wear and Couture collections that season.
  
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk and there is light structure through the inside dress for support and shaping. It closes with a back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This is a special edition dress from 2012
• It was made under the creative direction of Dolce and Gabbana.
• That same year its twin was worn by both Katy Perry, Sonam Kapoor, Mariela Garriga and was shot for a few editorials. I love that these gives you the chance to see just how gorgeous this dress is once on.
• The label later made a less expensive version that you will often see because it was made on a more mass produced scale, but this is the original fully corset and attached underskirt version that was only made in limited quantities.
• Dolce and Gabbana launched in 1985 by founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana who still run the label to this day.
• The dress is made out of a deep red velvet that gives the dress an extra depth and rich feel.
• The top is meant to be very fitted to the body. The bodice is peaked at the front and the velvet is placed over it to drape and wrap around the body in the most flattering way possible.
• Inside it is boned and shaped so that everything stays in place. The waist is cinched in and the illusion of a tiny waist is made even more so by the elaborate skirt that billows out all around you.
• Under the top layer of the skirt there are multiple layers of net and tulle that are built-in to add support and shape. The volume you see in these photos is actually the volume that the dress has. It is an extraordinary dress.
• The dress is fully lined in red silk with boning and a cupped inner corset. Added layers under the skirt as described above. It closes with a back zipper and then the skirt snaps to close over that starting under the waist. The zipper pull was not present on the dress and we replaced it with twisted black rubber finished wire. Please see the photo after the shot of the label. Other than that one small detail, it appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of the dress walked the runway for the Spring 1988 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Christian Lacroix
• I love that the runway shots show just how phenomenal the dress is once on the body. It feels as relevant now as it did then.
• Lacroix's Luxe label was only produced the very first couple of seasons after launching his label. It was a very high-end (very expensive) ready-to-wear line that was made to demi-couture standards. It was available primarily to his couture clients and a select few beyond that. It was the predecessor to his regular ready-to-wear collections. The label only lasted the first two seasons because some of the couture clients complained at how close the garments were to their Haute Couture pieces. Very few pieces were made so they are almost as rare as finding one of his Haute Couture pieces.
• The dress is spectacular.It is made out of a cotton pique that has a gorgeous texture running through it. A white dot pattern pops off the red backdrop.
• It is meant to be fitted to the body. The inner bodice is boned and shaped and I love the two black grosgrain bows that sit on the top of each peak. The back dips quite low to expose an expanse of bare skin. 
• Black grosgrain straps have been tacked into place at some point. The dress was shown originally and produced as a strapless piece. It would be easy to tack the straps if you prefer it that way or just tuck them in so you can wear it either way.
• It curves in at the waist and the inner underskirt is attached there and acts almost like a bit of a corset around the waist. 
• The skirt has wide inverted flat pleats that open out to achieve the fullness that you see and this falls over an inner attached underskirt.
• The underskirt underneath is what gives the dress its incredible volume. It is made out of a stiffened white net and all the volume that you see is from the underskirt. It has added built-in side panniers inside to add extra volume and hold the width of the skirt. The very lower edge is finished with a stiffened netting and then that is covered with a band of black lace that peeks out from under the edge of the skirt.
• The best part about the dress is that it still has its original little removable 'sleeves'. Each is made out of the same red fabric and slips over your arm to sit high on the upper arm. They are lined with organza inside so once on the arm, they hold their gorgeous puffed shape. 
• The dress is fully lined in a white silk through the bodice and has built in boning to hold it in place around you. The inner attached skirt hooks to close around the waist and the dress zips to close over that. Hand finishes throughout. I see a couple of extremely minor marks on the inner lining and a couple of the dots on the exterior have just slightly faintly yellowed. It is extremely minor but mentioned for accuracy. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This is a fantastic vintage Celine leather motorcycle jacket.
• It was made under the creative direction of Phoebe Philo.
• The jacket is made from a soft leather that is heavy enough to hold its distinct shape.
• It has a small neat collar with padding and top stitching to create the distinctive motorcycle jacket features that you see.
• It closes to the side with an angled large silver zipper and then snaps to close at the collar above that.
• Zippered pockets are set on each side and there are four in total.
• Big silver buckles wrapped around the sides of the waist allowing you to cinch it in or open it more.
• The jacket is fully lined in a red quilted fabric. I see some minor grubbiness to the inside edge of the lining and very minor creasing on the arms.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1976 YSL collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
• On the runway the skirt was pulled up more than how I have shot it here and I love that that shows you how versatile the dress is in terms of how you can wear the length.
• A similar dress was also used for the ad campaign.
• The dress is made out of a light floral printed pink silk jersey that has some stretch to it and drapes beautifully over the body while keeping light in weight.
• The neck line is set wide across so you can wear it off of the shoulder for a bare expanse of skin to show. An elastic is woven through the top of the neckline so you could also wear it up and on the shoulders if you wished.
• The sleeves extend out from there and are cut to just above the elbow. Their ends have elastic which allows you to change their length on your arm and how they sit.
• The bodice skims down to an elastic waist and this tops, a another panel of the same fabric that also has an elastic band that goes all the way around.
• The two bands of elastic are what let you choose how high to wear the dress around your waist and hips. You can dramatically change the length from a very long full length to something more like what you see on the runway. Bringing the dress up just allows the silk jersey to drape more over the layer underneath.
• The skirt is under the final band of elastic, flares out slightly as it reaches its hem. When the dress is laid out flat, it is extra long and then once on adjusting where the elastic band sit determines the final length.
  
• This is an absolutely stunning example of his work during this time period and one of my favourite pieces I have ever had in by him.
• The versatility and ability to style. The dress in multiple ways is just fantastic.
• The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear with elastic as described above. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The dress is from the Resort 2020 Valentino presentation.
• It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli.
• Vogue said that 'Pierpaolo Piccioli had his Resort collection photographed in Rome’s Orto Botanico, a green oasis in the center of the city with giant bamboo stands and towering palm trees.'
• This is one of my favourite Valentino dresses I have had and it is even better in real life.
• The dress is made out of a beautiful lightweight silk chiffon that has a joyful floral print over its entire surface. It comes with a matching pink inner dress worn underneath to act as the lining for the dress. 
• The flowers of the print are large and combine the most gorgeous tones from mixing pinks and greens. 
• The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are full above their wide cuffs. They are a single layer of the silk chiffon and this gives them a beautiful delicate feel.
• The dress skims over the bust from a scooped neck and drapes easily over the body to the waist. It expands outwards all the way to the hem so has a more caftan feel if you choose to wear it without the matching tie belt.
• The matching tie belt is made out of the same printed silk chiffon and you can cinch in the waist area as much as you wish for added shape. 
• Ruffles made out of the same silk start at the dropped shoulder and run vertically down the front all the way to the top ruffle on the lower skirt.
• The skirt flows to the floor from there and it is extremely full. The excessive amount of fabric used through the skirt give it a ton of movement when you walk and move. 
  
• At the bottom hem are two stacked ruffle layers that add even more movement and detail. 
• The lightness of the silk and the way that it lays over the body allows it to move spectacularly over you and it will pick up the slightest bit of air as you move. 
• The inner pink slip dress acts as the lining. The outer dress closes with a hidden set back zipper. The inner dress slips on to wear and has some stretch. I put the comfortable range of measurements below for it. There is elastic around the back upper hem of the inner dress. It comes with its original matching tie belt in the same chiffon. Each cuff closes with small button. On a smaller frame it will just drape more. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2019 Armani collection for the Look 38.
• It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
• Vogue said that this collection was "like that familiar whoosh when you sink gratefully into your favourite armchair after a long trip away: utterly recognizable and enveloping." The twin of this dress was Look 38 and was part of a small grouping of the only pink items in the show.
• The top layer of the dress is made out of a silk organza that is beautifully light in weight but still has enough structure to hold the shape that you see.
• The top layer is printed with a pale floral print and this floats under a brighter pink inner silk layer. The colour that you see is the result of the two layers floating over each other.
• The neckline is scooped and the shoulders are soft. Each capped sleeve extends over the top of the shoulder and is gathered along the top edge for a pretty touch of fullness there.
• From there it skims over the bust and widens out around the waist for a easy to fit feel. It continues to widen out over the hips all the way to the hem. 
• The waist is slightly gathered in around a lower dropped seam and it ties to one side. It is made to look as if there is elastic running through the waist and you have just left it open and easy.
• I love how part of the front skirt is pleated and folded over to add to that illusion that it is gathered in with an elastic.
• The dress is meant to fit more loose and easy over the body as you see in a reference photos. If you wanted to change the shape you could add a belt and give it more definition through the waist.
• There are pockets hidden along the seam of each hip.
• The dress is fully lined in brighter pink silk and it slips over the head to wear with no closures. It appears to have been worn very little at all.

• This dress is from the Spring 2000 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• This John Galliano dress is incredibly beautiful and it is a stunning example of his work. No matter how good you think that this dress looks in the photos it is even better in person, on the body and moving.
• The dress is made out of a hammered black silk that has a beautiful texture woven through the silk. I love how that the added texture it has catches the light as you move and adds an extra layer of visual interest to the dress.
• The dress is cut completely on the bias so it just glides over you. It is made to perfectly fall in a sweep of bias cut fabric.
• It skims over the bust with a draped front that falls in a soft fold. Wide straps curve up and over the shoulders and then extend down into the back.
• The back is truly incredible. It is scooped down into a very low open soft V that leaves most of your back bare.
• At the base of the scoop it crosses over itself and has a bit of the same drape that you see at the front. It is so well-made that I think that you could wear it turned around back to front with the V at the front depending on how it worked on your body and how daring you wish to be.
• The dress skims over the waist with a bit of a more generous feel. It curves past the hips and the bias cut of the silk lets it follows your curves and highlights the body underneath without it being too tight and fitted. Galliano is a genius when it came to this cut.
• Once past the hips the dress flares out as it nears the bottom hem so that it has beautiful movement when you move.
• One perfect angled seam runs down the front of a skirt for subtle detail and the very bottom of the lower skirt flares out slightly.
• A row of tightly spaced black silk covered buttons and loops run down one side to finish it with his signature button detail.
• The dress is fully lined in a fine black silk and closes at the side with the buttons. It is cut on the bias so the measurements given below are the comfortable range when the dress is laying flat.

• This piece dates to 1967 which we know from the editorial shot we found of it.
• It was made under the creative direction of Donald Brooks
• I love finding Donald Brooks pieces. They are very well made and his main line pieces like this one are especially fabulous. Brooks launched his main line label in 1964. He only designed for a very short time, closing his business in 1973. He had a secondary boutique line that he started in 1971 that also closed in 1973. This jumpsuit is from the original main line which gives us that time period between 1964-1973 for its date.
  
• At first glance you appear to be wearing a dress but it does actually have a jumpsuit underneath all of those layers of lace ruffles.
• Everything falls from one shoulder which leaves the other shoulder bare. 
• The bust is cut to skim over you to the waist. The waist is defined by a brown silk bow that wraps around and has a hidden hook underneath the bow.
• Wrapping around the bodice is the first lace ruffle that is cut so it is slightly longer on the side of the shoulder.
• Under the waist there are three layers of lace that run down the length of the jumpsuit. A 17" panel wraps all the way around the hip area and then there are two more layers of lace on each leg. They are also very wide. When they are laid out flat they are more than a full circle around.
  
• The jumpsuit underneath has a simple cut that skims over you, comes in at the waist, and then curves out and over the hips. The pant legs are straight and wide with just the slightest of narrowing by the end of each leg.
  
• The body of the jumpsuit underneath the lace panels are covered in a black lace. The lace added to the jumpsuit gives it amazing movement when you move.
• The jumpsuit is full lined in a black silk and closes with a side zipper. The panel of lace on the bodice and the top panel below the waist both snap over the zipper to close. The belt wraps and closes with both hook and snaps. Hand finished throughout.

• This is a signature bias cut dress from the Spring 2002 collection by John Galliano
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano
• There are no closures on the dress. It is completely cut bias and you just slip it over the head to wear and it just falls into place skimming over the body from head to toe.
• The cut of the dress has a strong nod to Couture pieces of the 1930s and 1940s decades. This was a signature theme and cut that he continuously referenced in his collections.
• The fabric has a silk like finish and is a deep black. Various Galliano logos have been woven directly into the fabric in a different finish thread so as you move these catch the light. The effect is fantastic once it is on the body.
• The fabric would have been custom designed by Galliano and made specifically for this dress.
• It scoops down into a V at both the front and the back. A band highlights and follows the neckline all the way around back and front. It skims over the waist and hips from there and flares out at the lower hem. 
  
• The back is cut longer than the front so you get this fantastic sweeping feel behind you. The dress is in its original uncut length.
• A high slit runs up one side for a flash of leg when you walk. Another Galliano signature. 
• The dress is unlined and slips on to wear with no closures. 
  
• The measurements have a lot of range because of the bias cut and no closure so I have given the comfortable range for all below when laying out flat. There is probably a little extra room beyond my measurements. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This great little printed Leonard dress dates to the 1970s.
• The Leonard Paris label began as a textile firm in 1954 and for the first four years of its existence it only produced fabric. In 1958 they started making garments but it was not until about 1970 when they started using a printed silk jersey for the majority of their collections that the label really took off. They are often compared to Pucci and during the seventies the two labels battled it out to be the label of choice for the jet set.
• I love whenever I get a fabulous Leonard dress into the shop and this one is the twin of one I had in the shop several years ago.
• Leonard dresses are so chic and they are also very easy to wear and travel with. 
• This one is made out of one of their signature silk jersey fabrics combined with a silk chiffon for the sleeves.
• This silk jersey fabric choice is what gives these dresses their perfect drape and fit. Each of their dresses were made with a custom designed print.
• The dress has a solid black full length skirt topped by that pretty bodice. The floral print runs over the sleeves and the entire upper bodice. The colours are a beautiful mix of pinks, pale purples, ivory, taupe and black.
• The flower print is large and very pretty. At the front the bodice plunges right to the slightly high set waist. At the base of the plunge is a tie that extends out from the fabric on either side of the bust and lets you to pull it in and adds the prettiest detail.
• The tie is silk jersey on one side and silk chiffon on the other.
• Each sleeve is cut to puff and balloon out over the jersey cuffs. The sleeves are made of a silk chiffon so have the added charm of being slightly transparent.
• Under that the skirt skims over the body and flares out slightly as it nears the hem.
• I love the contrasting borders that define the neckline, cuffs and waist. It is a beauty.
• The dress is unlined and closes with a back zipper. The printed part of the fabric is signed throughout. Each sleeve buttons to close on the cuff. I see the faintest bit of colour transfer at the back. Please see the photo after the label shot.

• The twin of this dress with added beading walked the runway for the Spring 2008 collection for Look 29.
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• The Spring 2008 show coincided with John Galliano's tenth year with the label and it was Dior's 60th year as a label. John celebrated that by creating pieces based on some of his signature looks through the past decade.
• This is one of my favourite dresses from the Spring 2008 collection and I love that the reference photos let you see how fantastic it is on the body.
• Pieces were wait-listed worldwide.
• The dress is made out of a feather light silk chiffon in a leopard print that is backed in a pale top silk chiffon. It feels almost weightless once on the body and it is all cut on the bias.
• The bodice is shaped with pieces of the leopard print set on angles that extend up and over the shoulders. They turn into thin straps that run down the side of the back and this leaves your back bare and exposed.
• The waist is shaped by having all of the panels gather in towards that spot.
• From there it curves over the hips and the panels have been shaped to exaggerate the feel of the hip.
• At the back the silk is all gathered down the centre to emphasize the hourglass shape of the body.
• The front skirt wraps over itself and narrows down and curves around the hem.
• Between this nod to the sarong and his signature bias cut, the dress skims and drapes over you so that is shows every curve but is not overly fitted.
• The wrapping at the front also allows your leg to show as you move and you can see this in the reference photos.
• John's pieces only truly come to life when worn and as good as this looks on the dress form, it is better once on the body. It is an incredible example of his work.
• The dress is fully lined in a pale taupe silk and closes at the side with a hidden set zipper. The inner bodice is lightly boned. The bias cut gives it some give in the measurements and I've given the comfortable range when the dress is laying flat below. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 2010 collection as Look 45.
• It was made under the creative direction of Frida Giannini.
• This was one of a series of evening pieces done for the finale of the show and was one of the best of those final looks. I am very glad that we have the runway photos so that you can see how this will properly fit on the body once on.
• The dress is strapless and there is a band made out of a chocolate suede that runs around the top of the bodice. Inside there is light boning to and structure and help to hold the dress properly in place.
• It skims over the bust and is shaped slightly inwards at the waist and then curves back out over the hips. It falls to just above the knee depending on your height.
• The dress can be worn on its own or you can wear the matching little shoulder capelet feeling piece that comes with the dress. My dress form is cut slightly shorter through the body so the bottom edge of the shoulder piece is coming to the top of the dress. Depending on your height and build it will either sit the same or sit above the top to leave a strip of bare skin showing like you see in the runway photos.
• The base is a deeper brown and then that has thousands of iridescent sequin pailettes attached in little clusters over the entire dress. These are in different sizes and the smaller ones are attached top bottom to the dress and then the longer pieces are attached at their tops only so they have this incredible movement and slight sound when you move.
• The shoulder piece is made out of two layers of black silk net. It has more of the same iridescent pailettes attached to it. The ones on this piece have a more clear undertone, whereas the ones on the dress have a slightly brown undertone. The slightly different colour and transparency of the base fabric gives the capelet a touch of a contrasting colour to the dress.
• The shoulder piece snaps to close at the back and has little built in openings for your arms to fit through so that it stays perfectly in place once on. I also love that you could where these as a set as shown on the runway or mix and match with other things in your wardrobe.
• The dress is fully lined in light brown silk. The inner corset piece that is lightly boned has its own zipper and then a second zipper sits over that to close the dress. Part of the back goes over the zipper and snaps into place. It sat down slightly from the top edge of the dress, so you see a bit of the under part of the dress. This is a detail that was done purposefully. The shoulder piece snaps to close at the back with hidden set snaps. The original tags are attached and it was never worn.

• The twin of the dress walked the runway for the Spring 1988 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Christian Lacroix
• The dress is very well documented. Besides the runway shots it was photographed on Yasmin Le Bon and one is held in the permanent archives of The Met Museum.
• Lacroix's Luxe label was only produced the very first couple of seasons after launching his label. It was a very high-end (very expensive) ready-to-wear line that was made to demi-couture standards. It was available primarily to his couture clients and a select few beyond that. It was the predecessor to his regular ready-to-wear collections. The label only lasted the first two seasons because some of the couture clients complained at how close the garments were to their Haute Couture pieces. Very few pieces were made so they are almost as rare as finding one of his Haute Couture pieces.
• The dress is spectacular. It is strapless and meant to be fitted to the body. The bodice is covered with a black lace that is finished with an iridescent silk ribbon that follows the underlying pattern. This gives it a gorgeous 3D texture.
• The inner bodice is boned and shaped and I love the two pink grosgrain bows that sit on the top of each peak. The back dips quite low to expose an expanse of bare skin.
• It curves in at the waist and the inner underskirt is attached there and acts almost like a bit of a corset around the waist. 
• The bodice ends in a point at the front and the back with the skirt is set under its edge. The skirt has wide inverted flat pleats that open out to achieve the fullness that you see. The skirt is made out of a brilliant yellow silk and I love the vibrant colour and contrast to the pink bows.
• Over that yellow silk base is a lace overlay that combines a striped lace with a floral. The lace lets the yellow peek through and it adds a bit of a cabaret feel to the dress.
• The underskirt underneath is what gives the dress its incredible volume. It is made out of a stiffened lace and all the volume that you see is from the underskirt. It has added built-in side panniers inside to add extra volume and hold the width of the skirt. The very lower edge is finished with a stiffened netting and then that is covered with a band of black lace that peeks out from under the edge of the skirt.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk through the bodice and has built in boning to hold it in place around you. The inner attached skirt hooks to close around the waist and the dress zips to close over that. Hand finishes throughout. I see a couple of extremely minor marks near the hem at the back. Please see the photo after the label shot. Perhaps the tiniest bit of fade to the pink ribbons but this feels more like natural aging than a flaw. It otherwise appears to have been more very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1988 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Christian Lacroix
• The dress is very well documented. It is also extra interesting because its counterpart on the runway was actually shown for his Haute Couture collection. This dress perfectly walks the line between Couture and Demi-Couture.

• The dress is spectacular. It is made from a silk that has a heavy texture to it and then the way that he has gathered the dress in places to emphasize the design highlights the texture even more.
• It is fitted through the bodice and I love how this counteracts the volume of the skirt. The silk is gathered horizontally and boning sits inside and runs vertically up to the front peaks. A zipper runs down the centre of the bodice and into the skirt. As it runs around to the back it dips down on a curve to leave most of your upper back bare and exposed.
• It cinches in at the waist and the inner underskirt is attached all the way around you inside. It has a stiffer band around its waist that acts like a corset. 
• The skirt is phenomenal. It is one of the best that I have ever seen from him.
• The top layer of the skirt is backed with a stiffened organza and then the same silk used on the bodice covers that. Onto that he has put panels of the textured silk that have been gathered into vertical ruffles and attached to the skirt down there centres. These are spaced perfectly apart all the way around the entire skirt and they add to the incredible volume that the skirt has.
• The underskirt helps to give the dress the support it needs to hold its shape. It is made out of a stiffened fine mesh net and it has added built-in side panniers to add extra volume and hold the width of the skirt. The very lower edge is finished with stiffened netting and then that is covered with a band of black lace that peeks out from under the edge of the skirt.
• The final perfect finish is the attached shoulder piece. This extends out from from the centre of the bodice and is a wide panel that wraps around the shoulder. You can really get a better sense of how this sits on the body from the runway and editorial photos.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk through the bodice and has built in boning to hold it in place around you. The inner attached skirt hooks at the waist and the dress zips to close over that at the front. Hand finishes throughout. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1979 Bill Blass collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Bill Blass.
• I have had the twin of this dress in the shop a few years ago and I was very pleased to find another.
• A similar version of this dress was worn by Slim Keith to attend the Met Museum Gala that year. We have also included a couple of shots of me in the one we had previously to give you an idea of how it is on.
• If you prefer not to wear fur you could easily remove the cuffs and replace them with a faux version, feathers or anything you could imagine, or leave them without and just store the cuffs for archival purposes.
• This dress is one of the best that he ever made and it is a wonderful example of just how sophisticated and glamorous he could be in his work.
• The silk chiffon is feather light and I love the fine metallic gold thread that is woven through the silk to create vertical stripes. 
• Onto those tiny stripes of the skirt are hand applied gold sequins that catch the light beautifully to add extra texture and glamour to the dress. Worked into the silk chiffon itself is a subtle leaf print that also adds a beautiful visual texture. 
• The bodice skims over you and crosses over itself with a built in brown silk camisole that acts as the lining. 
• The shoulders are soft and the sleeves extend directly out from the bodice and narrow slightly as they reach the cuff. The cuffs are both finished with a seven inch band of mink. 
• The upper part of the skirt is the same deep red as the bodice of the dress and then that leaf print gradually becomes more dense until it becomes more of a soft brown around the lower hem. A slit runs up the front for a little leg to show. 
• The dress is fully lined in brown silk chiffon and closes with a hidden set back zipper. Hand finishes throughout and hand set sequins. The cuffs are soft and they have perhaps the very slightest of wear to the edges. This one does not have its Bill Blass tag present, but has the appropriate size tag and a Saks Fifth Avenue tag inside.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1997 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
• I love that the reference photos show you how gorgeous it truly is once on the body.
  
• The dress is made of a beautiful bias cut silk that has an extraordinary brilliant floral pattern running over its entire surface. It is like wearing an entire bouquet of flowers in the best possible way.
• The bust angles on a slight curve up to a wide gathered strap that curves over the shoulder to become a part of the back where it angles softly back down to the side. This leaves the other shoulder bare and exposed.
• The inner dress drapes and skims over the bust and curves in at the waist to a seam. From there it curves back out over the the hips.This gives is a slightly more generous feel through the waist so it is easier to fit. 
• There is an attached panel of fabric at the front waist that loops around and then wraps all the way back around you to attach along the front of the neckline. At the back it snaps into place over a hidden set zipper slightly off to the side. At the front it snaps into place under the arm and then it is attached to the shoulder on the other side.
• This panel is what gives the dress is extraordinary beauty. The panel that is attached to the shoulder curves and cascades over the arm and all the way down the body. As the panel falls down the side of the body it extends well past the hem to create a training affect around you. You can also loop this panel more over your arm to bring it up and off the floor. You can see that in the runway photos.
• On one side of the skirt there is a high side slit so that when you move or sit you get a flash of bare leg and it also allows you to walk.. 
• The way that this is all laid out and attached is a nod to a sarong but at the same time it feel so elevated and chic. It is absolutely the most flattering dress once on the body. This is a true YSL masterpiece.
• The dress is fully lined in matching nude silk chiffon through the upper bodice and then the rest of the dress is lined in a deep blue silk chiffon. It closes with a hidden offset back zipper. The lining is partially set by hand. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This is a phenomenal dress whose twin walked the runway for the Fall 1989 YSL show.
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
• The dress is made out of a feather light silk chiffon that has a brilliantly covered print over its entire surface. Worked into the fabric are little gold thread metallic 'dots'. This fabric choice holds the colours beautifully. 
• The neckline is set more wide across so that it sits towards the edges of the shoulders and then plunges into a V at the front. The front wraps over itself and hooks into place around the waist and then has a small row of snaps under that. This clever partial wraparound lets the front wrap over itself to create that V.
• The shoulders are soft and the sleeves extend out from there. They are cut a bit wider at the top and narrow into the wrist.
• The cuffs on this one are spectacular. There is a hidden set zipper at each wrist and then on the opposite side the cuffs are gathered into the seam and highlighted with eight silk covered buttons that run up from the wrist.
• The bodice is cut to skim over you and then it narrows into the waist. The dress comes with its original matching silk chiffon belt that lets you define the waist even more. I love the soft bow that sits underneath where the belt hooks into place around you. It just adds yet another phenomenal detail.
• The skirt is as gathered into the waist and it has many, many yards of fabric in its construction. Tiny gathers are set in all along the seam around the waist and then it opens out to be very full under that. This is what gives the skirt its incredible volume.
• You get an idea of just how much fabric is in the skirt by the reference photos that we have added here. It is truly incredible. 
• Even with all of the volume in skirt because of how many yards of fabric are in it the dress remains light in weight because of the silk chiffon.
• I love how the gold gives the entire dress a touch of a metallic glint to it in the light and the mix of colours keep it vibrant and beautiful.
• This is an absolutely stunning example of his work during this time period and this is a rare and hard to find piece.
• The dress is unlined and closes with a combination of hooks and snaps around the waist and just under the waist. A hidden set zipper at each cuff. The belt closes with hooks under the bow and it is original to the dress. The dress is unlabeled and appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The dress is from the Spring 1990 Givenchy Haute Couture collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Hubert de Givenchy
• We found a reference photo of its twin, which lets you see how fantastic it is once on a body.
• A similar dress in black walked the runway and you can see the twin of this dress in the background walking away from the camera in that shot.
  
• The dress would have been completely made by hand in the Paris atelier.
• It is made out of a rich ivory silk that has a beautiful drape to it.
• The silk is gathered up onto one shoulder and then this drapes down under the other arm. There is extra fabric all along the edge so you get a really beautiful drape along that side.
• It is cut so bad it skims over the bust and then the waist is cinched in for shape.
• The skirt is elaborately gathered into the waist area and all of the draping in the skirt is set so that it sweeps upwards into the waist. This allows the dress to drape over the hips as needed, and then it comes in naturally more around the legs to create a very Grecian feel.
• It wraps over itself and closes with an elaborate series of silk covered snaps and hooks. Where it crosses over you will get a flash of leg when you walk or sit. You can see this in the reference photo
• A panel of silk is gathered on the one side of the waist and falls more towards the side and back for added detail and movement.
• There is a very elaborate design done in gold metal pieces that are all hand set onto the silk. It is composed of gold beading in a variety of shapes and sizes, dangling metal cords and prong set glass crystal rhinestones. The entire lower portion of the gold metal design is set in dangling strands off of the dress so when you move this has incredible movement.
• The dress is unlined and snaps to close up the side of the bodice that goes over the shoulder and then it hooks and snaps into place both inside the inner waist and along the front of the waist. The bust and hips are completely cut on the bias so are very forgiving and have movement over the body. On this one, if the waist fits the rest should fit. I see a couple very faint tiny marks here and there and a teeny tiny pinhole near the seam of the waist. Please see the photos after the label shot. These are very minor but mentioned for accuracy.The dress is completely made by hand and has its proper couture label present.
• There is no size tag because it is true Couture. Please go by the measurements below.

• This set is from the early to mid-seventies and comes directly from the Client, who got it from Gres atelier
• It was made under the creative direction of Madame Gres.
• Gres' work has had profound effects on Haute Couture and her influence still resonates to this day. Her attention to detail, master draping techniques and respect for the female form is unparalleled.
• She was known for designing and creating garments directly on her models and this became a signature of her work.
• She opened her first atelier, La Maison Alix in 1932. A partnership briefly changed the house's name to Alix Barton and then the label went to simply Alix. In 1942 she married, and the label made its last change to became Madame Gres, which was a partial anagram of Serge, her husband's first name.
• Her work spans over five full decades with the vast majority of it, with the exception of a short-lived RTW line begun in 1980, dedicated solely to creating Haute Couture. She is one of the greatest couturiers of our time and her pieces are very rare and hard to find.
• This is an amazing vintage true Haute Couture set. 
• I love the camel coloured wide legged jersey pants with their wide cut legs. The jersey they are made out of is the soft wool that she used extensively during this time period and it has a soft finish to it that looks and feels heavenly once on.
• The pants are banded at the top with a wide gathered sash of a pale yellow jersey for contrast to the camel colour below. This hooks to the one side and there is built-in boning at the sides to hold its shape around the waist. It is a touch wider on one side then the other to create a pretty curve. The pants fall to the floor and widen out to be 64" around at each hem.
• The top has a metallic finish to it. The silk has actual metal thread woven through it and this gives it a subtle glint from all angles. A design runs through the silk and the metal thread is woven onto that in a floral design.
• The neckline is scooped and it skims over you to the waist. The sleeves are long and simple.
• It ties into place at the back with ties made of the same fabric. These sit on an angle that starts at the neckline, run across to one side and then go straight down to the hem of the top. This leaves a little bare expanse of skin showing between the ties.
• I photoed the top both un-tucked and tucked as it can be worn either way.
• Both pieces have a Haute Couture label in them and the top has an additional handwritten numbered tag inside.
• This is an incredible and rare opportunity to own a beautiful piece of her work and it is that much more versatile with the two pieces since you can mix and match with pieces from your exiting wardrobe.
• Both pieces are unlined and have been completely finished by hand. The pants close with hook and eye at the band and a zipper under that. There is a minor repair to the jersey inside the inner structure of the band and then one of the fold along one side. Both only show internally. The top ties to close at the back.
• There is no size tag present because it is true Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.

• The twin of this dress was Look 38 for the Fall 2007 Nina Ricci presentation
• It was made under the creative direction of Olivier Theyskens
  
• The dress is wonderfully documented. It was photoed for Vogue that season and is seen in the book "She Walks in Beauty".  Kiera also wore one for an editorial that season
• The strapless ball gown is something that is a signature of Olivier and that combined with this striking antique feeling silk brocade fabric in its beautiful slightly metallic yellow colour make this a stand out of the collection. It was the second to last look of the finale.
• The dress is made out of a heavy yellow silk brocade that has a remarkable and slightly metallic feel to parts of the fabric. It has the feel of an antique fabric and is absolutely incredible. It is rare now to see fabric at this level of quality.
• This fabric choice is really what allowed him to manipulate and create the sculptural seams that the dress has.
• The strapless bodice is meant to be fitted and there is a full built-in inner corset that holds the dress in place around you. The fabric is shaped over the bodice and gathered down towards one side of the waist. An attached wide band of the same fabric circles around your waist. The back scoops down to leave your upper back bare and exposed. The dress has been mainly finished by hand and it is finished to an extraordinary level.
• It skims over the hips and the skirt has elaborate draping to create the feel that you see in the photos. There is a full panel that sweep across and around the hips to fall down and over one side of the skirt and then that trails out behind you.
• You can only imagine that for this one he personally placed in each drape by hand to get the shape that he wished it to have.
• The skirt that is set underneath the swag of silk brocade down one side is extraordinary full. I love the way the fabric has been manipulated to fall around you and then starts at the sides to become very wide and full as it sweeps around to the back. As it curves around you it becomes a striking train at the back that sweeps out behind you. Panels have been added in and under at the back to give even more fullness.
  
• This is a phenomenal piece from his tenure at the Nina Ricci label and is extremely rare. I would be shocked if there are more than one or two examples other than this one in existence. The amount of hand work in the dress tells me that this was definitely a custom-made piece and made-to-order. It is on par with true Haute Couture. 
• The dress closes with a hidden side set zipper. It has a full structural inner corset that is cut and boned with an inner waist stay that hooks to close. The fabric that sits closest to your body is embossed with a Nina Ricci name. This inner corset runs all the way down to the top of the hip. The rest of the dress is lined in that same embossed silk as the inner bodice and there's an additional heavy lining of a woven muslin between that and the skirt. Hand finishes throughout. 
• The dress has no size tag present. Please go by the listed measurements below.

• The twin of this dress with a more pink base was presented as Look 5 for the Resort 2008 Prada collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Miuccia Prada.
• This was one of the most famous of all Miuccia's collections and the pieces sold out world-wide shortly after being released. Resort pieces are produced in more limited quantities making everything from this collection even more special. 
• Vogue's review of the show said that "The collection, full of colourful prints and polka dots, can only be described as pretty" and took special note of the one shoulder pieces.
• The runway version dress was also photoed for an editorial that season.
• It is made out of one of Prada's beautiful fabrics meant to mimic the silky rays of the 1940s. It was then printed with one of Miuccia's proprietary floral prints that she used for this collection. These florals were defining look for the season and they incorporated the word Prada in the print.
• The dress curves up and around the bust and over the shoulder. The shoulder is soft and extends down into a sleeve that ends just past the elbow. The sleeve has elastic around the bottom which lets it puff up above.
• The bodice is cut to skim over you and it is gathered in from the front and the back into the side of the waist opposite to a sleeve. She then added a swag very reminiscent of the 1940s runs down that same side. These nights to the 1940s are a common theme seen in her work.
• The angle the back is set on is cut slightly more dramatically then the front and the two angles give you a deep and unexpected plunge right to the waist.
• The skirt appears to wrap around you and falls to mid-calf depending on your height.
• Set at the base of the plunge is a panel that extends out to create that beautiful draping that you see running down that side to just past the hem. ore silk has been set in panels above that so that entire side has that incredible detailing.
• The floral print combines pinks with a brown that has a touch of pinky-purple undertone to it.
• One of my favourite details about this dress is that the inner hem has been finished with a 3" panel of the same pink that is in the print. You do not see the panel when you are standing still, but when you walk or move, you get a tiny flash of that unexpected colour.
• The dress is fully lined in black and closes at the side with a zipper and then the swag snaps to close over that. The end of the sleeve has elastic. I see a tiny catch on the shoulder and a small very faint watermark on the skirt that gets hidden in the folds. Please see the photo after the label shot.

• This two piece set is from the Fall 2019 Christian Dior collection and was Look 83 on the runway.
• It was made under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri.
• Vogue's Sally Singer noted that; "Chiuri sought inspiration for this collection from Britain’s postwar Teddy Girls, those working-class, rock ’n’ roll–loving beehived vixens who hit the clubs in a mix of men’s Edwardian jackets, full skirts, blue jeans, leather, velvet, and eyeliner galore. She was struck by the similarity in silhouette and the optimistic excess that characterized Christian Dior’s designs of the same period. She was also moved by Yves Saint Laurent’s addition to the Dior pantheon of a men’s black leather jacket for women in the late 1950s. So, heritage, hipsters, and herstory."
• The twin of this look also appeared on red carpets that season.
• At first glance it looks like this is a full dress but it is actually two pieces. There is an inner romper or play suit and then an open front skirt that goes over top of that. I love the versatility and added wearability that having two separate pieces gives you.
• Both pieces are made out of a deep red silk chiffon and have a inner black layer that deepens the colour and adds interesting shadows to the areas where it is gathered or draped. This fabric choice keeps the pieces soft and pretty as well as light-in-weight.
• The bodice of the inner piece is fitted with a built-in corset that is cupped and boned to sit perfectly in place around you.
• I love how the silk is gathered over the bodice to emphasize the bust. The gathering continues down on an angle around the waist to give the illusion of a smaller waist.
• Under the waist it curves out over the hips and becomes a pair of wider legged short shorts.
• The skirt is its own separate piece and snaps into place over top of the shorts. It falls from a banded panel around the waist and then expands outwards from there.
• It closes under a flat bow at the centre front and is open to the hem under that. This gives it a soft and easy movement around you as you move. 
• The skirt is made out of a layer of the red silk chiffon and then underneath are two stacked black layers of a black net. Floating the layers over each other helps it to retain volume and shape around you. It also gives you an interesting colour contrast when the front opens as you move.
• It is just outstanding in person and beautifully constructed.
• The skirt is lined in a black net and the romper in a black silk. Inside the bodice is an attached cupped and lightly boned corset. The playsuit closes with a hidden set back zipper and the skirt closes with hidden set snaps plus hook & eye under the bow at the front. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress in a gold walked the runway for the Spring 2008 Oscar de la Renta collection as Look 64. 
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• On the runway a version of this was shown in a gold and then for the shops they produced this red version with a chunkier embellishment around the collar area and down the front.
• The dress is made out of a linen like finished red silk and then the collar has had an extensive pattern of various beads, rhinestones and sequins added by hand. Some pieces are backed by leather and there is embroidery in the mix.
• The collar is spectacular. It is just under three inches wide and to create a bold band curving around your neck. At the front it runs down and over the silk to just about the waist giving the illusion of wearing a jewelled bib collar. At the back it splits into two straps that expand outward on an angle to meet the silk.
  
• I love how this leaves most of the upper back bare and exposed.
• The beads on the collar have a very organic feel and they mix what looks like wood and perhaps ceramic beads applied onto leather backings in some spots. Big chunky rhinestones and clear beads have been added, and there are bits of embroidery. It is really fantastic and you can clearly see hand work throughout.
• Under that the dress is cut on a slight curve at the neckline and then comes in at the waist. The shaping through the waist is all done by long vertical seams at the sides with no horizontal line to break the eye or the beaded pattern at the front.
• From there it curves back out over the hips with a slightly exaggerated shape and then it expands out again as it nears the hem.
• Extra fabric has been added at the back and around the sides of the lower skirt to give you extra fullness there and a bit of movement as you move. You can get an idea of how it moves with the reference video added.
• I love how dramatic the red version is. It is a fantastic example of his work during this time period.
• The dress is fully lined in a matching red silk and closes with a hidden set back zipper that is hidden along and offset side seam. The collar hooks to close at the top of the shoulder on one side.. The embellishments have been added by hand. I see some slight scuffing into the top layer of the fabric around the back hem. Please see the photos attached. It is minor but it is mentioned for accuracy.

• The twin of this dress was shown as Look 7 for the Fall 2024 atelier collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Prabal Gurung.
• He told Vogue that "We've always had a small private client business". He had soft-launched his Atelier collection the previous year and the Fall 2024 collection was the first publicly shown Atelier collection. 
• This is a beautiful dress that showcases his love of the 1950s Hollywood Golden Era.
• The dress is made out of a pale nude net that has a touch of pink to it. Little black chenille dots are fused onto the fabric.
• The bodice is strapless with a soft curve to the neckline. There is a boned and cupped built-in corset inside. The waist nips in and then curves back out slightly.
• The skirt is phenomenal. There is a little peplum that combines a layer of tulle with netting just under the waist and then the skirt falls in two more wide tiers under that to the floor.
• The middle tier has a a double layer of tulle under it and then there are more built-in layers under the entire skirt.
• The innermost layer has bands of stiffening placed horizontally around the hem and through the body of the skirt to hold its volume. I did not add any crinolines under the dress. All the volume you see is because of the built-in construction.
• The back of the skirt is cut longer than the front so that it sweeps out slightly behind you.
• The fabric is light in weight so even with the intricate construction of the dress is still feels easy and comfortable to wear.
• I love the little net bow that sits on the hip. It is set on a brooch so you can choose to wear it there, place it elsewhere, or leave it off.
• The dress is fully lined in layers of the netting as described above with a full built-in corset that is boned and cupped. A waist stay hooks to close. The corset closes with its own zipper and then the dress zippers to close over that with a hidden set zipper. The dress appears to have never been worn.

• The twin of this dress was the final look on the runway for the Pre-Fall 2015 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• Vogue noted in their review "Pre-Fall 2015 was the last collection he (Oscar de la Renta) had a hand in designing. The house's new creative director, Peter Copping, advised the studio a bit on how to finish it after de la Renta's death in October but this wasn't his debut. Copping sat in the front row taking it all in as a bystander." They continue the review saying, "How does one review a collection like this—one that operates not as a swan song, not as an homage, but as a coda to a great career, now definitively over? On its merits, of course. And though these clothes didn't serve to turn the fashion dial in any way, they manifested the soigné de la Renta signature in spades....It spoke loudest in the collection's clutch of cocktail frocks and gowns, particularly the champagne-toned finale gowns with allover gold or silver embellishment."
• This would make an amazing wedding dress for the bride looking for a non-traditional choice or as an alternative dress in a more extended wedding celebration.
• The dress is made from a fine ivory net that is covered in beautiful curving gold metallic thread appliques that form flowers and pretty patterns over the entire surface of the dress.
• Each individual applique is made from a pale, muted silver-gold lame fabric sewn that is embroidered all the way around its edges. The lame has a slight vertical ribbing that combines the gold and silver thread and this adds a beautiful texture. I love how they catch the light in a subtle way from every angle. In person the dress has a more metallic and gold feel then how it photographed here.
• It sits wide across the front and the straps are set to the edge of the shoulder. The bodice curves up and over your shoulders and then at the back it falls in a V for a bit of bare skin to show. All of the edges follow the curving pattern of the applique and I love this little romantic touch.
• There is an inner lining inside the bodice that has a sweetheart neckline shape to it and then the netting has a touch of transparency above that. It skims over you from there, past the waist to the seam that sits at the top of the hip.
• From there the skirt explodes outwards in two tiers. Underneath each tier is a layer of tulle and then another layer of netting under that. The second layer has a stiffened edge to help hold the shape of the skirting. Inside the skirt there is a built-in underskirt that has multiple rows of that same stiffened fabric so it holds the volume that you see in the photos. I have added no extra crinolines underneath the dress to take these photos. All of the volume that you see is all built into the dress already.
• The dress is cut shorter at the front and then the back is cut so that it trails out behind you past the floor. The lightness of the tulle and netting allows the dress to billow out around you when you walk.
• This is dress that feels like a fairy tale come true once it is on the body.
• The skirt is fully lined in layers of tulle and netting as described above. The bodice has an inner layer of silk and netting. The dress closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little.

• The twin of this dress was featured in the Cult Gaia Lookbook for the Resort 2019 collection.
• It was made under the Creative Direction of Jasmin Larian Hekmat.
• Hekmat founded the label in 2012 and it is based in Los Angeles. The label's name comes from mixing 'Gaia' (the goddess of Mother Earth) with 'Cult'  which she meant to reflect the idea of a community built around organic design, nature and the power of femininity.
• The label names their dresses and this one was called Cosette. It was produced in several colours, one of which was this gorgeous pinky coral that is noted on the tag as being the 'bubblegum' colour.
• The dress is made so that it all falls from a single shoulder on one side to create a beautiful drape down and over the body.
• The bust angles on a slight curve up to a wide gathered shoulder. This extends out to become a part of the dramatic caped panel that falls all the way to slightly past the floor. It leaves the other shoulder bare and exposed.
• The dress drapes and skims over the bust and curves in at the waist. From there it curves back out over the the hips.
• At the waist there is a large open cut out circle on both sides that goes from the waist down over the outer hip. To hold this in place around you there is an elastic strap in the same colour that loops around you. The strap is removable so if you prefer the circles completely wide open you can wear it that way as well. It is very sexy.
• The open cutouts already add drama to the dress and then that cascading panel down the one side adds even more to the extraordinary beauty of the dress.
• The panel that is attached to the shoulder curves and cascades over the arm and all the way down the body. As the panel falls down the side of the body it extends just past the hem. 
• On one side of the skirt there is a high side slit so that when you move or sit you get a flash of bare leg.
• It is absolutely the most flattering dress once on the body and it has beautiful movement.
• The dress is fully lined in matching fabric. It closes with a hidden side set zipper and the band that slips around the waist hooks to close. The band is removable. I see a very faint mark the front but the dress is new with tags and was never worn. Please see the photo after the label shot. The colour is perhaps a touch more pastel than how it photographed.

• The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2018 Etro runway and was shown for Look 3 on the runway.
• It was made under the creative direction of Veronica Etro
• Vogue reported that the collection "displayed the really excellent cutting of Veronica's dresses. She doesn't need to drain her designs and gorgeous pattern to achieve gorgeousness."
  
• Even the stills from the runway gives you a wonderful idea of how fantastically this dress will move in real life. On the runway it was paired with a jewelled piece that was worn to follow the V of the neck.
• The dress is made out of layers of a light in weight cotton and silk mix gauze that is incredible. A base colour is a soft ivory, and then there is a secondary white print worked into the fabric. Added embroidery and sequin embellishments on the embroidered patterns are done to form a beautiful multi-layered pattern over the entire dress.
• The shoulders are  soft and set wide across to the edges. These curved down into sleeves that narrow slightly to the wrist and are finished with a tiny lace trim. I have shot them at their full lengths but you can see on the runway photos they were worn scrunched to the elbow for added ease.
• The neckline come down in a soft curving V and cotton panels on the bust are gathered into twisting knots along the centre point.
• The skirt sweeps out from under the bust and from there it begins to expand outwards to the hem. By the time it reaches the hem it has quite a bit of volume. The back is cut slightly longer than the front so you get a beautiful sweep and movement when you move.
• The lower tier of the skirt is cut to be wider around to create more volume and movement in the skirt. It is set into the skirt above with more lace.
• The final perfect detail is the elaborate floral embroidery work that covers the entire dress in a matching thread. Onto many parts of the embroidery are added sequins that give the entire dress a beautiful texture from top to bottom.
• This is an absolutely stunning dress that is wonderfully constructed.
• The dress is lined in a layer of the same cotton gauze. The sleeves are unlined. It closes with a hidden set side zipper. I see a small mark that gets hidden in the folds of the skirt, grubbiness at the edges of the hem and there is a tiny stress area to the fabric at the top of one shoulder. Please see the photos after the label. Its easy cut should allow for a range of sizes.

• It was made under the creative direction of Giambattista Valli .
• This is one of those ultimate princess, cupcake, fairy tale wedding dresses made with the fantastic execution that Valli is known for.
• The entire dress is made out of a dotted tulle and choosing this fabric keeps it light in weight while still being able to create the fantastic volume that the dress has. The dress is more of a true white.
• The bodice is strapless and there are two tulle panels that extend out from where they are attached at the back waist.
• Since the panels are only attached at the back waist you have the ability to style them in several ways. They can be twist over the front and wrapped back around the neck where it hooks to close.
• They could also be wrapped around the waist for a true strapless feel.
• Inside the bodice there is full built-in corset that is lightly boned so you have full support for wearing the dress.
• I love how tulle is wrapped horizontally over the bodice and then the skirt is set vertically. This combined with the dots in the netting create a subtle visual interest
• The waist nips in and then the skirt expands outward from there.
• I love the drama and volume that this creates through the skirt. Multiple layers of crisp white tulle are stacked on top of each other and this is what holds the volume. 
• It has a very ballerina princess feel to it and is absolutely gorgeous.
• The dress is fully lined in a silk organza underneath the tulle layers in the skirt. It closes at the back with a zipper and the panels have hook at their ends to hold them in place. The inner bodice is lightly boned for support. It appears to have never been worn.

• This is an original Mexican sundress that dates to the 1960s or maybe even a little earlier.
• These were made by hand by local artisans for the tourist market. I think this one is one of the prettiest I have ever seen and I think I will be sad to see it go once it sells.
  
• I love that it has its original label inside as the label is as pretty and unique as the dress itself.
• These lovely little hand embroidered cotton Mexican dresses are works of art in my opinion and this one is an amazing example.
• The base fabric is a crisp black cotton that has been top stitched with little vertical pin tuck seams that cover the entire dress. These add visual detail and also help to shape the dress.
• Distinct bands of hand embroidered yarn flowers run around each sleeve, the band around the waist and above the lower hem of the skirt. That is what adds the bright pops of colour to the dress that you see. It is incredible.
• The neck line is squared off at both the front and back and the shoulders are soft.
• Each sleeve is cut so that it fall straight from the shoulder to the embroidered band and then underneath that it has these amazing cuffs that expand out to become incredibly full. Each is a full circle all the way around if you lay them out flat.
• A wide band of lace edges the bottom of the sleeve. You see lace used throughout the dress in between the different portions and parts of the pattern.
• The lace is all placed strategically so you get a little glimpse of skin underneath but are still properly covered. It is fantastic.
• The bodice skims to the band of embroidery at the waist and then the skirt sits under that. It gradually widens out to be very full by the time it reaches the hem.
• Everything about this dress is beautiful and it is rare to find one that is still so crisp and perfect. It is a beautiful dress.
• Unlined and closes with a painted metal zipper at the back. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This dress is from the Fall 1982 Givenchy collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Hubert de Givenchy.
• I believe this is the actual runway sample that walked the runway. The only photo that we have been able to find to verify its presence on the runway is one from the back but it is still a photo that shows that it is a runway piece.
• It would have been made completely by hand in the Paris atelier.
• The dress is unlabelled and it is made by hand in the same level other of his runway samples that we have had in the shop.
  
• The bodice and sleeves are made from a black velvet with a flat pile finish. I love how it is cut to sit off shoulder and leave a bare expanse of skin across the top of your shoulders. Two little straps curve over the top of the shoulder to hold it perfectly in place and then the sleeves drop so your upper arm is bare.
• The neck line and the very top of each sleeve have a finish of black feathers that add an amazing feel to the dress.
• The sleeves have been tacked into place along the edge of the bodice and they have an elastic running around the top edge for an easy fit.
• The bodice comes in for shape around the waist and then curves back down to the top of the hip.
• The skirt is spectacular. It comes out from the bottom seam of the top and explodes outward around you with incredible volume
• The skirt is made out of a fine black and silver-grey striped silk that has a pretty red metallic dot woven through its surface. It is the perfect subtle touch of colour and contrast.
• The way the feathers fall around the sleeves and upper bodice is just incredible. They also create slight movements when you move. This is a superb example of his Couture abilities.
• The bodice of the dress is fully lined in a black silk and the skirt is lined with a black silk organza. It closes with a back zipper and each sleeve zippers to close at the wrist. It is finished a level appropriate to a runway sample and all of the work is by hand. It appears to have been worn very little at all.
• There is no size tag present given that it is Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.

• This is a phenomenal Guy Laroche true Haute Couture dress.
• It was made under the Creative Direction of Guy Laroche.
• It would have been made entirely by hand in the Paris atelier.
• The dress is a rich royal purple in colour and the silk that it is made out of is of extremely high-quality.
• The bust extends up to curve over one shoulder and then swoops down and  becomes a part of the back panel of the dress. This leaves the other shoulder bare and exposed. 
• It skims over the bust and is attached to the waist seam on only one side.
• This creates an open cut out on the other side and I love the juxtaposition of the bare shoulder with the bare expanse of skin showing on opposite sides.
• The side that is open has a little tie bow at the top of the hip for added detail. The zipper is set underneath directly under that. This side falls on a slight downward angle to play on the angles of the top.
• A second bow sits on the closed side of the waist with the silk all gathered in towards that bow. It is just fantastically beautiful.
• From there the skirt falls to the floor and slightly widens out as it near the hem. There is a very high slit up the same side as the cut out at the waist.
• When you walk or move you get a fantastic flash of bare leg. It is very sexy but at the same time manages to stay very elevated and chic.
• The dress is fully lined in a purple silk chiffon. All of the inner work is done by hand to haute couture standards. It hooks to close at the top of the shoulder and at the side of the bodice above the cut out. There is a zipper and hook combination at the side. An inner silk waist stay hooks to close. I see a tiny line of stitching between the base of the zipper and the top of the slit. I think at some point the slit was higher and someone closed it. It would be easy to reopen. It otherwise appears to have been worn a little if at all.

• The dress is from the Fall 2003 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• This dress is from John Galliano's own label and is an incredible example of his work from this time period.
• For this season he had emphasized a glamorous hourglass shape mixed with nods to pinup girl lingerie style dressing. These bias cut dresses always showcase his love of the 1930s and 1940s and you can see that influence in them.
• The dress is made out of a deep dusky purple silk that has a slight bit of texture to it. It is completely cut on the bias in that signature cut he does so well.
• The dress falls from a delicate strap that curves up and behind the neck and then it drapes down and over the body to the floor.
• The bias cut of it allows the dress to skim and drape over you so that it shows every curve but is not overly fitted.
• The fabric has been pieced together with dropped and angled panels throughout to create the beautiful shape that you see.
• At the back the strap meets behind the neck and then drop down the centre of the back and panels of silk are suspended from it. These curving panels can be worn either down and under the arms or you can drape your arms through them.
• The dress glides over the body past the bust, waist and hips and then flares out as it reaches the hem.
• It buttons to close down the side with a row of his signature buttons covered in the same silk and then on the other side the fabric is gathered in and up into a wired circle. The circle is open in the centre and the panels that gather into the circle have been cut out and opened so that it forms the shape of a flower trailing over one hip.
• Silk lining backs the cut outs at the hip but I have seen this dress in another colour where someone had that part of the lining removed so you see bare skin and it looked great.
  
• The dress is fully lined in a slightly deeper purple silk crepe and closes at the side with a series of silk covered buttons. I see perhaps a tiny pull in the fabric here and there which happens with this fabric and a teeny bit of shininess here and there from pressing near seams. Very minor and mentioned for accuracy. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes with it just draping more in a smaller frame

• This dress is from the Fall 1982 Valentino collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino.
• This is a very rare and unusual dress from the Valentino boutique label.
• Michelle Harper wore its twin in 2011 and you can see it in the foreground of the photo of an exhibit of his work at the Met Museum. Its twin was shot in black that season as well.
• Valentino launched his ready-to-wear label in 1962 just two years after opening his first couture salon in Rome. In 1970 he expanded and opened a boutique in New York. 
• His ready-to-wear was done to give everyone access to the Valentino experience. He often based the boutique designs from his main couture label and in the early days pieces were remarkably close in quality and the line between the two labels was often blurred. This is a beautiful example of that.
• The dress is made of a beautiful weight silk in the perfect shade of purple mixed with those rainbow coloured bands at the top of the bust and around the inner hem. The silk has just enough weight to hold the shape that you see, but still feels light on the body.
• I love the unusual lines that this dress has and how despite its bold silhouette it is still easy to wear and very flattering.
• The dress is strapless and the neckline is set in a peak at the front with the four coloured stripes set on angles that slant down and then curve around the back. The silk is seamed to fit around you and really emphasize the shape through the bust and waist.
• It curves over the very top of the hips from there and then the skirt falls out outwards in the most dramatic poof under that.
• The skirt is a masterpiece. It is gathered softly into the waist and then it expands outward in that fantastic shape that you see. At the bottom it is brought in and under and there are four more matching bands of coloured silk in those rainbow colours. 
• When this is on and you move you are going to get the most incredible movement of the skirt.
• There is tulle in between the outer layer and the inner silk lining in the skirt that helps to keep the skirt its structure and shape so it does not collapse around you once you are standing still. And it has pockets.
• The dress is fully lined in a light purple silk. Light boning through the bodice and the inner silk portion of the bod closes with a row of hook and eye. The dress zips to close over that. The skirt has a black silk chiffon lining and this closes with its own hook and eye inside at the waist. The rest of the skirt is lined in a black silk organza and there is tulle in between the exterior layer and the organza. I see a tiny bit of change of texture where the silk has been pressed over the inner tulle here and there. It is very minor and just mentioned for accuracy. Hand finishes.

• The twin of this set walked the runway for the Fall 2007 show for Look 43. 
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• Galliano repeated the same design through the upper bodice for Look 18.
• In the book 'Dior Catwalk' they note that the Collection "managed to translate the intricate Japanese inspired references and techniques of Galliano's previous Haute Couture show for ready-to-wear, from origami folding and gravity defying pleats to elegant draping, tiered skirts, striking headpieces and bright colors." Women's Wear Daily hailed the collection as "a brilliant blockbuster, a glorious celebration of the grand and glamorous."
• Once worn together you get the feel of a full length dress but it is a two piece set with its original belt included. Both pieces are made out of a dusky purple hammered silk that has incredible drape.
• The top slips on and zips to close at the back. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are cut long and on a curve a traditional tailoring technique to follow the shape of the arm. Each sleeve is cut a little longer than a normal sleeve so that when they are on the body they can be bunched up along your arm just slightly or worn slightly over the top of the hand depending on your arm length. 
• The sleeves are cut to curve outward from the body of the top with gusseted seams underneath forgoing the traditional arm seams. This means extra steps during the garment assembly that you rarely see anymore outside of Couture.
• The neckline comes down in a shallow V and then the silk is gathered up and into the intricate fold at the front.
• A hand dyed to match snakeskin belt is used to cinch in the waist. The buckle of the belt is finished in deep purple rhinestones.
• The skirt skims over the hips and there is an extra panel of fabric that puddles and drapes down one side. It runs from just below the hip down all the way to the floor.
• Under that extra added panel is an incredibly high slit that goes to the top of the thigh. The skirt flares out as it nears the floor and the hem has a touch of an asymmetrical feel to it with the side with the panel falling longer past the hem than where it starts on the inside portion of the slit.
• On the runway you can see the high slit as the model moves and this skirt has that same detail.
• This is an exceptionally rare set and an outstanding example of his work for this collection.
• The top slips on with a hidden set short zipper at the back of the neck. The belt has a rhinestone encrusted buckle and the skirt closes with a side hidden set zipper. There is a teeny bit of lift on the edges and wear marks on the belt that are minor and if I hold the skirt up to the light I see a tiny bit of vertical thinning marks under the waist and here and there around the ham of the skirt. They do not show through to the front at all and I am being very picky. Both pieces otherwise appear to have been worn very little if at all.

• A version with similar floral finishes walked the runway for the Spring 1982 Givenchy collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Hubert de Givenchy
• In 1952 Hubert de Givenchy founded his namesake house on Rue Alfred de Vigny in Paris and quickly rose to fame as one of the grand couturiers. 16 years later for the 1968-69 season he added a ready-to-wear line of clothing and accessories called 'Givenchy Nouvelle Boutique'. The line was initially sold in the United States exclusively through Bergdorf Goodmans and was eventually made available at other retailers. The line was high end and extremely well made.
• This part of his brand was created specifically to appeal to his non-couture clients who wanted to be able to purchase a piece of the Givenchy dream.
• The label continued until 1992 when it was retired and re-branded as the Givenchy Couture label.
  
• The dress combines a brilliant pink silk skirt with a more fitted strapless bodice. The bodice on this one is so pretty. The base of it is a slightly off-white silk that has a white netting covering it. That is then covered with the prettiest little silk flowers in a range of soft pastel colours mixed with pops of pink and purple.
• The flowers cover the bodice all the way around from the front to the back. They have been laid out flat beside each other and only the centres are sewn down onto the fabric so that the petals sit off the fabric and move slightly with the smallest bit of air. 
• The skirt is full with the silk layer on the top and an inner silk chiffon layer underneath. The colour is a brilliant pink that perfectly picks up in the pink flowers in the bodice. It is set into the waist in soft folds so that it really has fullness and movement when you move.
• The dress comes with its original green silk covered belt that you wear with it for an added pop of colour. 
  
• The dress is fully lined in a ivory silk though the bodice and the skirt is lined in a pink silk. Light boning in the bodice. There is an inner waist stay and another under the bust and both hook to close. It closes with a metal side set zipper. There is a touch of grubbiness along the edges of the bodice around the arm areas and the flowers have softened over the years. There is some grubbiness and slight fading to the edge of the skirt hem and I see one tiny hole in the silk. The belt shows some fading and wear. Please see the photos after the label shot. Everything is minor overall and the dress presents beautifully.
