Well Documented Fall 2018 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Green Velvet Halter Dress w Floral Skirt
I Have a Question
- The near twin of this dress walked the runway as Look 65 for the Fall 2018 Valentino season.
- It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli.
- The entire world was in love with Pierpaolo and this collection was raved about. Vogue opened their review saying "Something is going very right at Valentino. It would be hard to name another designer in the establishment echelons of fashion who is putting out a more inclusive, relatable, and unforced sense of modern elegance than Pierpaolo Piccioli. They continued saying "How to put it? Where so many other designers have sought to meet these fraught times with throwbacks to ’80s-power-woman shoulder-padded templates, Piccioli has found a new cadence of expression. It includes flowing lines, flowers, layers, scalloped edges, and a vibrant, sophisticated colour sense. For evening, there was a wealth of options to cover all occasions, according to the person a woman might be. It might mean flowing, completely covered-up gowns or ankle-length A-line tunics with slim trousers beneath... Piccioli handled both minimalism, in spare, dramatic shapes, and decorative embellishment in blown-up floral appliques and jacquard... It recognized dignity and delighted in amazing colour. Bravo, Piccioli. This was outstanding."
- I love that I have the runway photos and a reference video for you because they show how beautiful the dress is once on the body and moving.
- It was worn on several red carpets and shot for various editorials that season. It is one of the best from a show that was filled with outstanding dresses.
- The halter of the dress is made from a deep forest green velvet and then the skirt is a silk brocade that has a beautiful floral pattern worked over its entire surface. The black portions of the print in the skirt are a finely ribbed velvet that has an almost ultra fine ribbed corduroy finish to it. You can feel the added texture of the black parts of the print and it makes the print that much better.
- The top is made from two simple triangles in a deep green velvet. They extend out from the waist into two long straps at the top that curve behind your neck, cross over themselves at the back, and then button and snap into place on either side of the little bit of velvet that curves around the sides and into the low back.
- The halter front and tiny straps leave your sides and your entire back bare. It is the perfect balance between the dress feeling romantic and being very sexy.
- The skirt is remarkable. It is set in around the waist in a series of tiny gathers and there is an internal stiffening around the waist to hold the shape.
- The back of the dress has extra fullness built in and it is cut a touch longer so you get this beautiful sweeping feel behind you that just adds to the overall glamorous feel of the dress.
- It is incredibly beautiful. And it has pockets.
- The halter is backed with silk and the skirt is unlined. The straps button into place and the dress closes with a low hidden set back zipper at the waist. Ribbon edged finished inner hems. Some minor grubbiness here and there at the edge of the hem and perhaps the tiniest snag here and there on the skirt. These are minor, but mentioned for accuracy.

yves saint laurent
Outstanding Spring 1974 Yves Saint Laurent Floral Print Silk Chiffon Top & Skirt Set
I Have a Question
- This set is from the Spring 1974 YSL Rive Gauche collection
- It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
- We found several reference photos of other pieces that appeared on the runway that have the same print. The print is also documented in one of the books on his work. The twin of this may also have been presented on the runway but there is not full documentation of these earlier collections.
- I love that it is a set made up of two pieces. It looks like a full dress when worn together but you still have the versatility of being able to mix and match each piece with things you already have in your wardrobe.
- The colours in the silk chiffon are amazing. The silk has held the colour extremely well and they are as crisp and vibrant as the day it went on the shop floor.
- Yves was a master at choosing the fabrics that were the perfect compliment to the prints that he used. This dress is no exception to that rule with its riot of bright blue and red flowers covering its surface. The choice of the silk chiffon make both pieces feather light and allow the skirt to float around you when you move.
- The bodice is cut to skim over you with a loose and easy feel that is close to a box cut. It buttons at the front with matching silk covered buttons. The collar is neat and extends out into an attached tie at the neck. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves go to just around the elbow. Each one is cuffed and full above their cuffs so that they puff out around your arm. I have shown the top both tucked and un-tucked so you can get an idea of the cut. I love the slight transparency that the top has with its single layer of silk chiffon.
- The waist of the skirt is finished with a small band for shape and then it curves out to be more loose and generous over the hips. From there it falls to the floor. It flares out quite a bit as it nears the hem and one side of the hem is cut slightly shorter than the other. You see this often in his work from this time period. It allows for a little bit added movement and it seems to have been a bit of a signature for him during this era.
- The top is unlined and the skirt has a lining of a nude silk chiffon. The top buttons to close and each cuff buttons to close. There is an attached tie at the neck of the top. The skirt closes at the side with a flat hook and eye at the waist and a zipper under that. It appears to have been worn very little at all.
- The top is tagged a 38 and the skirt is tagged a 40

givenchy
Gorgeous Resort 2011 Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci Look 5 Striking Red Lace & Black Net Dress
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress was Look 5 for the Resort Givenchy collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Ricardo Tisci
- This was his fifth year at the label and in the Vogue review of the show they noted that Tisci told them that the colour palette of black, red and white mixed with the occasional leopard was inspired by Frida Kahlo and her animal-filled paintings.
- The dress is made out of a black net with a red lace overlay strategically placed over the dress to emphasize the cut and design.
- The dress is is suspended from two tiny straps that curve up and over the shoulder. The very upper edge of the bodice is finished with leather piping.
- The bodice is cut to skim over you and I love how the red has been applied on the black to give you extra coverage and really highlight the cut and flow of the dress.
- It continues down to skim over the waist in a more loose and generous feel and then it occurs back out over the hips
- The skirt cascades outward from there to the floor and it is fuller by the time it reaches the hem. The lace applied around the bottom and the way it is cut helps to hold the shape around you.
- That combination of red lace and netting that has been applied over the dress creates a beautiful and striking pattern. The pop of red against the transparent black net is even more striking once on the body and you see the transparency through it that contrast against the red lace and netting.
- The width of the lower skirt allows the dress to move beautifully around you as you move.
- The inner black silk chiffon slip acts as the lining. Both the dress and the inner slip have no closure and simply slipped over the head to wear. I see a couple of tiny repairs in the net near the raw edge finish of the skirt. Very minor but mention for accuracy.

john galliano
Fabulous Spring 2004 John Galliano Pale Mint Green Bias Cut Slip Dress w Rhinestone Detailing
I Have a Question
- This dress is from the Spring 2004 John Galliano collection.
- It was made under the direction of John Galliano.
- The dress is made out of a pale mint green coloured fabric that is completely cut on the bias.
- The dress is absolutely dreamy. It is meant to skim over the body and it has that beautiful movement that Galliano is so well known for.
- The dress is suspended from the shoulders with two matching colour straps that are made of a slightly different fabric and have a bit of a pattern on pattern feel to them.
- The front is set into a shallow V and the back repeats that same V finish.
- It is cut on the bias and the entire dress skims over the body in that perfect way that he always cut a piece.
- The bias cut allows it to be easy fitting over the bust, waist and hips. It is not tight at all but does drape and fall to accent your shape once it is on the body.
- Both the top and skirt are pieced together out of panels that are set in and along angled seaming. This gives the dress a feel that is very reminiscent of Old Hollywood dresses from the twenties and thirties. The skirt is made of two panels that expand outwards to each side. So when you walk or move you get amazing movement.
- All of the seams are finished with rhinestones that have been infused on the fabric. These are a subtle glimmer to the entire dress head to toe and highlight his beautiful pattern work.
- The skirt has that extra swing to it and the cut and fullness allow it to move around you as you move. When this is on and you are walking the movement it creates is absolutely gorgeous.
- This is John at his best and it is a tremendously beautiful dress.
- The dress is unlined and slips over the head with no closures. It is cut on the bias so we put the comfortable range of measurements when the dress is laying flat below. We see some very tiny little spots here and there. Please see the photos after the label shot. They are all so tiny they do not detract in any way.

Prettiest Resort 2009 Valentino by Alessandra Facchinetti Look 16 Palest Dusty Green Silk Organza Dress
I Have a Question
- The twin of this gorgeous dress was presented for the Resort 2009 collection for Look 16.
- It was made under the creative direction of Alessandra Facchinetti
- Vogue noted that it was her third Valentino collection and for this one she "sketched a portrait of a lady in soft hues - pearl grey, icy white, and blush pink - punctuated, with pops of chartreuse and a rich fuchsia... Ruffles found their most elegant expression in organza gowns. Smartly paired with metallic flats these embrace the bodice before walking into the floor". There were three gowns presented in this similar cut - one in black, one in this dusty pastel gray green, and one in a white. This was the more elaborate of the three.
- Its twin with a wide belt added around the waist was worn by Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, and I love that those reference photos and the presentation reference photo lets you see just how beautifully this one is on the body and how it moves.
- The dress is made out of a pale pastel green silk organza that is cut to be more fitted around the bodice and then flows in a cascade of ruffles over the skirt. The fabric choice keeps the dress light in weight and gives it beautiful movement.
- The entire top portion of the dress is gathered in from the shoulders down and into the waist on curves that angle towards the centre. The straps are a touch wider as they curve over the shoulder and it comes in at the waist. The gathering and draping over the bodice is beautiful and detailed.
- Edging the front neckline is a series of little raw edged bows that are held in place by a heavy application of hand applied beads, stones, rhinestones, sequins and metal thread. This follows the neckline all the way down to where it crosses and insert into the waist. There is a modesty panel that keeps it from being too low. If you did wish to have this have a full plunging feel it would be easy to have that adjusted to follow the V of the neck line.
- The skirt falls from under there and it is a little masterpiece of panelling and drape.
- The front is a lighter almost silk jersey and it is heavily gathered at the centre of the waist to fall and expand ot as it near the floor. A matching panel runs down the centre of the back that is not as tightly gathered as the one at the front.
- The sides panels of the skirt are made of the organza and there are added panels of organza layered onto that to create those giant ruffles that you see falling down each side and around to the back. These fall all the way down to the hem and create that beautiful structure that you see in the photos.
- Because the organza is so light in weight when you move, everything moves around you beautifully.
- This is an extraordinarily beautiful dress and I love its added provenance with its royal tie in.
- The dress is fully lined in a matching silk chiffon. The skirt has an additional two layers of silk chiffon under the top layer and these act as the lining. I see a tiny repair near where one ruffle is stitched to the side, but it's on the underneath so does not show. The dress closes with a hidden set side zipper.
- There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements below.

I Have a Question
- This is the actual runway sample piece that walked the runway for the Spring 1978 Philippe Venet show.
- It was made under the creative direction of Philippe Venet.
- The dress has it proper Couture tag and its handwritten tag designating its show number and the model. I love that we found a reference photo so you can see how fantastic this dress is once it is on an actual body.
- Philippe Venet apprenticed to a local tailor who was authorized to make Balenciaga designs. In 1951 he moved to Paris and became a cutter to Schaparelli. From there he met Hubert de Givenchy and in 1962 joined his atelier where he was the head cutter. In 1964 he opened his own Haute Couture label with Givenchy's blessings and support. His work tended towards minimalism and clean lines. His business was never as large as Givenchy's which allowed him to be more hands on for a longer period of time. Couture pieces from him are very rare and hard to find.
- The fact that it is the actual sample piece makes it even that much more special.
- Its construction is at the level of a runway sample. So you do see some slight roughness in some of the seams, even though everything is completely done by hand. This is appropriate for a couture runway sample.
- Both pieces are made from the palest possible mint green silk. The colour is magical and as good as it is in the photos, it is better in person.
- The dress is two pieces. There is an inner dress which I have photoed on its own so you can see it's construction. This is suspended by tiny straps that curve over the shoulders and then crisscross at the back.
- The back is left bare and exposed. The V at the back is set slightly off centre and it follows the pretty angle of the hem. To make this work, the zipper has been set slightly off-side at the base of that V rather than in the exact centre.
- This inner dress glides over the body in a beautiful bias cut that has a more generous cut waist, curves over the hips and then falls to the angled hem.
- Over this goes a loop panel fabric that is attached at one shoulder and then falls down and over the inner dress. The closed side of it is what causes the dramatic swoop and drape you see.
- I love that you can wear this overlay on either side and it creates two different looks. If you wear it on the same one shoulder look side, the whole looks takes on the feel of a more one shoulder dress. If you wear it on the other side you get this interesting cross-over effect at the top and at the hem.
- This really gives you three dresses in one because you can wear the inner dress on its own and then depending which shoulder you wear the outer piece you get two distinct looks from that.
- This is very rare piece of documented Venet with the extra fashion history of knowing that it was the actual runway piece.
- Both pieces are unlined and slip on to wear. There is a hand set zipper at the back of the dress as described above. It is entirely made by hand. There are some small marks on the dress here and there. Everything is minor and it is wearable as is. I have added several shots so you can see. It is not perfect, but it is 100% sound and wearable as is. All of the flaws are minor. Its easy draping cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.
- There is no size tag present, so please go by the measurements listed below
- Excellent condition
Inner dress
Bust: 15-17.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 14-17" flat across from side seam to side seam

Total length: 58" from top of bodice to the longest point and 42" to the shortest.
The overlay
It slips on to wear and will fit any size because of its open cut down the side. It is 61" from the top of the shoulder to the longest point.

Fabulous 2010 Alexander McQueen Bias Cut Liquid Black Silk Dress w Amazing Wide Loop Sleeves
I Have a Question
- This dress is from the 2010 Alexander McQueen season.
- It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
- A copy of this dress that was re-issued in an ivory for the 2011 wedding collection and versions were also made in 2007.
- I love having this version. It has that same bias cut draped feel as the McQueen that Elle Fanning borrowed and wore recently so we have added a photo of that to give you an idea of it on.
- The dress is made from a beautifully weighted silk that has that same liquid feel that the best of the 1930s pieces did that were made from this similar fabrics.
- The colour is fascinating. It is a black in most lights, but in certain bright lights it has a blue undertone that comes out and gives it the appearance of an almost deep deep blue black.
- Like those dresses of the thirties this is also cut on the bias but with a more shaped silhouette. I love that the fabric is heavy enough and that the dress is lined so that it will not highlight 'flaws' underneath like some bias cut pieces can.
- It is cut to flow over the body and skims over the bust, waist and hips to the floor.
- The neckline drops into a V at the front. It glides over the bust and there is a soft curving seam that starts at the bust and runs down into the side seam. This not only helps to add a little shape but it also becomes this interesting design feature and a subtle way for him to work in one of his signature angled seams.
- The skirt continues past and over the hips and then flares out as it reaches the hem. At the back there is extra fabric worked around the centre seam to give you a trained effect behind you.
- This flaring out at the bottom and the extra bit at the back give you fabulous movement when you walk or move.
- The sleeves are incredible. They are set in these soft loops around each arm. They leave the sides of the shoulders bare and really add to the thirties feel of the dress.
- The dress is fully lined in a black silk mix and closes with a hidden set back zipper. The bias cut fabric has some stretch so should allow it to fit a range of sizes. The measurements below give you the comfortable range the fabric has when lying flat. It is in its original length.

Spring 2004 Valentino by the Original Mr. Valentino Black Pleated Bodice & Ruffle Skirt Dress
I Have a Question
- This dress is from the Spring 2004 Valentino collection
- It was made under the creative direction of the original, Mr. Valentino
- We have included some photos from the Spring 2004 Valentino collection of dresses with similar elements to this one. This is a dress that was produced for the shops and it is absolutely gorgeous.
- The dress is made out of a feather light black silk chiffon and the lightness of this fabric choice creates a soft and romantic feel as it floats over your body.
- The entire dress is cut to allow it to drape beautifully over the body and highlight your curves.
- The bodice is finished with tiny and precise pleats that wrap all the way around to the back. The top of the bodice is gathered into a sweetheart and the back sits on a slight curve to leave the upper back bare and exposed.
- A ruffled panel of black silk chiffon is set along straps that are meant to sit off the shoulder. Once this is on a body, it will sit around the upper arm. I think, depending on the space between the shoulder and bodice you might also be able to wear this on the top of the shoulder.
- The waist is cinched and seamed to follow the curve of the body.
- From there it curves out and over the hips and the panels of chiffon that make up the skirt float around you as the skirt falls to the floor.
- The skirt is a little masterpiece in its own right. It is actually made of a series of panels that are all set in around the waist. They are attached together to just under the hip and sat in a way so that they overlap each other as they fall to the floor.
- Each panel is a long rectangle that widen out to their curved ends. Each of the individual panels are finished with a ruffle of a matching black silk chiffon that runs all the way around the entire panel. I love how the ruffle is smaller near the top of the hip and then also widen out as it circles around the bottom of each panel.
- The panels overlap each other as they curve around you but there is no inner lining. It is the overlapping and the multiple layers of the panels that make it opaque enough to wear. Besides making it wearable, the separation of the panels once they get past the hip area is what allows the extraordinary amount of movement that the skirt has when you move.
- The silk chiffon that was used is feather light and the dress is a dream in person.
- The dress is fully lined in a black silk chiffon through the bodice and the skirt is constructed as described above. It closes with a hidden set side zipper. It is in its original uncut length. I see a tiny repair near the hem and along the hem. Both extremely minor. It otherwise.appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Gorgeous Spring 2006 Christian Dior by John Galliano Black Chiffon Bias Cut Dress w Capped Sleeve
I Have a Question
- This is a stunning black chiffon dress from the Spring 2006 Christian Dior collection
- It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano
- This dress feels magical. This is in part because of the perfect bias cut of the black chiffon that is such a signature of John's time at the label.
- As with many Galliano pieces it is meant to be on an actual body and not a mere dress form.
- The way the fabric is cut and draped allow it to hug the body and skim over you from the bust to past the hip.
- The dress has a wide set V plunging front that meets in the centre and twists into a knot. I love the angles this creates on the neckline and the nod to the 1940s that it gives the feel of the bodice.
- The sleeves are gathered in along the shoulder and then they are gathered back in above where they go around the arm. This is another strong detail that is a nod to the thirties and forties, decades that you often see referenced in the best of his work.
- Angled seams run under the bust to the sides of the waist and the fabric curves in there to give shape through the waist. From there it curves back out over the hips and falls to the floor in a widening expanse of chiffon. This helps to create its hourglass shape.
- As the skirt near the floor it widens out considerably and this gives the dress extra volume there and also creates a gorgeous bit of movement around the lower skirts.
- The perfect finishing touch is a high slit that runs up one side of the dress so you get a bare flash of leg as you move.
- The entire dress is made out of a single layer of the black chiffon so it has a touch of transparency. This allows you to go as covered or bare underneath as you dare. It is so pretty and special.
- The dress is unlined and closes with a hidden set zipper at the side. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

christian lacroix
Exuberant Spring 1988 Christian Lacroix Luxe Demi-Couture Runway & Documented Strapless Floral Mini Dress
I Have a Question
- The near twin of this dress with a separate lace underlay styled underneath it walked the runway for the Spring 1988 collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Christian Lacroix
- The dress and print are very well documented. Its near twin was shot for Vogue that season and a similar dress is held in the V&A permanent collection.
- Lacroix's Luxe label was only produced the very first couple of seasons after launching his label. It was a very high-end (very expensive) ready-to-wear line that was made to demi-couture standards. It was available primarily to his couture clients and a select few beyond that. It was the predecessor to his regular ready-to-wear collections. The label only lasted the first two seasons because some of the couture clients complained at how close the garments were to their Haute Couture pieces. Very few pieces were made so they are almost as rare as finding one of his Haute Couture pieces.
- The dress is spectacular. It is made from a beautifully vibrant pink floral covered silk that has a secondary texture worked into the silk. The added texture makes the dress even more interesting as you get closer.
- It is fitted through the bodice and I love how this counteracts the volume of the skirt. The bodice is sharply peaked and has built-in boning inside for shape structure. At the back it dips down on a curve to leave most of your upper back bare and exposed.
- It is seamed so that it cinches in at the waist. The dress comes with its original matching silk belt that hooks into place around the waist. A large soft bow hides where it hooks together. I have styled it with the bow to the front for most of the photos but also showed it with the bow to the back. You could also style it to either side (not photoed).
- The skirt is phenomenal. It is one of his signature bubble skirts that has inspired thousands of designer since. It is made from a single layer of the same floral printed silk. All of the incredible volume that you see is created by the way it is shaped, cut and set in around the waist. I love how it extravagantly curves outward around you and then comes back in at the hem.
- The dress is fully lined through the bodice in a black silk and the skirt is lined in a stiffened transparent black fabric that helps to hold the shape. There is built in boning through the bodice. An inner waist stay hooks at the waist and the dress zips to close at the back. Hand finishes throughout. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

versace
Iconic Spring 1992 Versace by Gianni Versace Jeans Couture Floral Print Full Skirt Halter Mini Dress
I Have a Question
- These full skirted mini dresses appeared in both the ready-to-wear and couture show for the Spring 1992 season.
- It was made under the creative direction of Gianni Versace/
- We have included a ton of reference photos to show you the many designs that were done of this dress and to show you how fantastic the cut is once on the body.
- The collection paired past and present design elements and many of these dresses were shown with cropped denim overtop. He softened his usual baroque patterns with flower designs mixed in. Even with that added softness the entire collection, and especially these dresses, was still extremely sexy and he himself said the attitude of the show was 'pinup girl'. This is an exceptionally fabulous dress and shows why his work is as highly valued as it is.
- The dress is made out of a blue cotton mix that has one of his famous Versace patterns over its entire surface mixed with florals.
- Tiny straps curve over the shoulders and these straps are removable. Take them off and it instantly converts to a strapless dress.
- A gold lame piping highlights the cotton design of the dress and adds a bit of glitz. More of the gold lame has been box pleated and added around the entire hem of the very full skirt.
- The bodice is meant to be more fitted and plunges down the centre at the front. There are three straps going across the plunge to give that signature little hint of bondage that you see so often in his work.
- The waist nips in with an angled band edged in the gold cord to add definition there. The skirt is spectacular. It is set in around the waist in these big box pleats that widen out as they near the hem. This gives the skirt incredible fullness. To help hold that fullness there is a built-in layer of a royal blue tulle underneath the skirt that helps to hold it shape. When you move or twirl or sit you get just a glimpse of this. If you wanted it to be really full you could add an additional crinoline underneath to really give it that full on runway feel. That gold edge that I mention above that runs all the way around the bottom is the perfect finishing touch.
- It is an amazing dress and instantly recognizable as one of his pieces.
- Fully lined through the bodice in a blue silky rayon and the skirt has the added layer of tulle. It closes with a side set zipper. I see the faintest of marks on the border of the plunge. Please see the photo after the label shot.

roberto cavalli
Very Rare Spring 2003 Roberto Cavalli Printed Silk & Net Boned Corset & Red Sequin Mini Skirt Set
I Have a Question
- This is from Spring 2003 and its twin with a gold sequin version of the skirt was worn for Look 19.
- It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli.
- Christina Aguilera wore the gold sequin version for an editorial that same year.
- The corset is made out of a yellow printed silk chiffon that has been cut out and applied on a nude netting. So you have parts of it that have a touch of transparency.
- It has an inner bodysuit built-in that snaps to close and holds it in place. Inside it is fully boned and has wired cups. It laces to close at the back and this allows you to adjust the size.
- The skirt is meant to be worn more low slung on the hip so you see the skin between the corset and the skirt. You can also wear it higher if you don't wish to show that little bit of skin.
- The waistband is made out of a denim and then the rest of the skirt is finished in red sequins that are square in shape and set to overlap each other. The button that closes it at the front of the waistband has a little snake circling it and Roberto Cavalli embossed into it.
- This is an extremely rare set and highly collectible.
- The skirt has some of its paint worn off off of the sequins in areas and I am not sure if that is something that has happened over time or if it was a deliberate distressing. These were stored closely together at some point and part of the red has rubbed off onto the laces of the corset a bit and around the edge. Even with that small flaw it is absolutely amazing. The paint on the sequins seems to come off easily with water so it should not be worn if it is raining and they should be stored with something between them.
- The skirt zips and buttons to close and is lined in a red silk. The corset laces to close at the back and has a full built-in stretch lingerie corseted bodysuit inside that is boned.
- The corset is tagged a Cavalli vintage medium and skirt is a vintage Cavalli small.
- Excellent overall condition with the notes above
Note that I have measured the corset with the laces fully tightened. You could open the laces as much as you needed from there.

christian dior
Outstanding 2014 Christian Dior by Raf Simons Strapless Palest Soft Pink Dress w Tiered Skirting
I Have a Question
- This was a special order dress from the Spring 2014 Dior collection and very few were produced.
- It was made under the creative direction of Raf Simons.
- Suki Waterhouse wore its twin to Cannes that year and I love that the reference photos and video show you how gorgeous this is once on the body.
- The dress is made out of the palest pink silk that has a slight texture to the weave.
- It is strapless and there is a full boned interior corset attached inside to help hold the dress perfectly in place around you.
- The fabric skims over the interior corset and comes in at the waist. The shape is all created by the superb vertical seam work at the waist. From there it curves out and into the top upper portion of the skirt.
- The skirt is made from two distinct tiers of silk. The first one forms a full long peplum layer that drapes beautifully full over the inner hips. This layer falls to just above the knee. I love the soft folds that it has as it falls around the body and the extra fullness built around the back. The shape is all created by the way the fabric has been patterned out over the body.
- That top layer lies over a full inner skirt that is more fitted over the hips and then gradually starts to expand outward so that it becomes extremely full by the time it reaches the hem.
- The front is cut shorter at the front and it is set on an upward curve. It continues to curve around to fall to a longer length behind you creating a beautiful sweep of fabric. Like the tier above it, it also has extra fabric built in the back to create a beautiful fullness behind you.
- Both portions of the skirt are layered in a pink silk, and there is built in stiffen net around the hems of each to help hold the shape and volume that the skirts have.
- This is a spectacular example of Raf's time at Dior and it is an exceptionally pretty dress. It might even make a spectacular gown for a bride.
- The dress is fully lined in a matching pale pink silk with a full built in boned and cupped inner corset. The corset closes with a series of Hook and I with two settings to choose from and then the dress closes with a hidden set back zipper over that. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Spring 2012 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 47 Nude Pink Feather Dress w Silver Thread Flowers Detailing
I Have a Question
- Due to new customs regulations this dress can only ship to a Canadian address. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about this.
- The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2012 show.
- It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta
- On the runway it was styled with a white wrap that sat over the bust and arms and a heavily embellished belt. Once you strip those back and see the dress on its own you realize just how light and pretty the dress is.
- Oscar showed the collection in his new showroom on 42nd street. The space had yet to be fully renovated and this gave the atmosphere a raw edginess and the styling reflected that. Vogue called the evening dresses 'entrance making' and the show felt fresh and new from his work of the past few seasons proceeding this one.
- The dress is made from a pale nude pink silk base covered in netting. Onto this is an extensive floral applique made out of of silver sequins, silver metallic thread and silver lame insets
- The dress is suspended by two little piped silk straps that curve up and over your shoulders. They attached into the peaked fronts of the bodice. Front panels across over each other and then the back has a pretty dip that leaves the upper back bare and exposed.
- It cinches in at the waist and then curves out and over the hips.
- The skirt cascades to the floor from there and is cut slightly longer at the back so that you get a beautiful sweeping feel as you walk away. Onto the skirt is an amazing application of feathers attached onto the top layer of netting. These come up at the front and then widen out to circle all the way around the bottom hem. They curve back upwards at the back. Every feather is stacked and layered over the one underneath. The bottom of the skirt is very full so the combination of the lightness of the silk and netting and the amazing application of feathers create this phenomenal movement when you move.
- The dress is fully lined in a pale pink silk and there is light boning at the sides of the bodice. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Beautiful Fall 2012 Gucci by Frida Giannini Runway Look 35 Deep Green Velvet Dress w Leopard Pattern
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress walked the runway for Look 35 in the Fall 2012 Gucci show.
- It was made under the creative direction of Frida Giannini.
- This was the dress of the season and it was documented on a huge variety of people for red carpets and events. I love that it shows just how fantastic this dress is on a range of body types and frames.
- The original inspiration for this dress is a Fall 1985 Hubert de Givenchy Haute Couture dress that walked the runway. We actually have one of those originals in the shop at the moment. You can view that by clicking here.
- This gorgeous dress is made out of a green velvet with a leopard print done in a different finish of velvet within the fabric. This pattern gives the velvet an extra depth and richness, and also catches the light as you move. It is stunning.
- The bodice is set into a V that crosses over itself where it is set into the waist. The bodice drapes more loosely over you at the front.
- The waist is seamed and cut slightly on the more generous side. There is a 1.5" band that is attached around the waist to add some definition. If you wanted more shape, you could add a belt though it also works perfectly well without.
- The sleeves are more full near the top and then they narrow down to a hand set zippered cuff.
- The skirt falls to the floor and is sad so that it wraps over itself at the front. You can see in the many reference photos that by moving your leg a certain way you can get a flash of bare leg if you wish.
- It is a gorgeous dress and I love it homage to the original Givenchy.
- The dress is fully lined in a black silk. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. Each cuff has a hidden set zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Spring 2016 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri Runway Elephant Printed Cotton Dress
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress as well as a similar second version walked the runway for Looks 48 & 54 in the Spring 2016 runway.
- It was made under the creative direction of both Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
- The show was based on Africa as its inspiration and at this period of time the world was watching refugees attempting the journey to Italy. In the Vogue review for this collection Maria and Pierpaulo were quoted as saying; 'We probably feel that the greatest privilege in doing our work is that fashion can give a message,” said Chiuri. “We think every person coming here is an individual, and we can show that we can improve ourselves by understanding other cultures.'... 'The message,' added Piccioli, 'is tolerance. And the beauty that comes out of cross-cultural expression.'
- The dress is made from an extremely light in weight cotton with an inner nude cotton layer underneath and then that is entirely covered in a stunning elephant and fauna print done in a combination of green and a pale mustard mixed with white.
- Many of the pieces fused both Italian and African traditions , 'They met in the textiles' and the prints in the collection was described as "African-inspired prints with wax block detailed their Spring 2016 collection. The collection was praised for a respectful rather than literal interpretation of African cultural influences."
- The lines of this dress are wonderfully simple and yet it still feels glamorous with the head-to-toe print.
- The neckline is high and the shoulders soft. It skims over your bust to a slight more generously cut waist. The sleeves are long and they each have a button at the cuff and the sleeve puffs out above that.
- From there it curves over the hips and begins to widen out to the floor. There is a surprising amount of fabric in the skirt, but because of the lightness of the fabric, it falls in a more column silhouette until you begin to move.
- The print that covers the dress is stunning. It is set to highlight the lines of the dress and is specifically placed to accomplish that goal.
- The dress is unlined and closes with a hidden set back zipper. Each cuff buttons to close. It appears to have being worn very little if at all.

Fabulous Fall 2011 Emilio Pucci by Peter Dundas Runway Look 3 Green Print Corset Front Dress
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress was presented for Look 3 for the Fall 2011 Pucci collection
- It was made under the creative direction of Peter Dundas.
- Besides being shown on the runway it also made an appearance on the amfAR red carpet that season.
- I love that all the various reference photos and video give you an amazing idea of how gorgeous this is on the body.
- The dress is made out of the classic modern Pucci jersey that makes it extremely comfortable to wear but also perfectly defined your curves. The fabric has some stretch and it is lined in a black stretch silk so that it sits very flattering on top of the body.
- The front neck is scooped and is edged in a bit of ruffled raw edged silk for a pretty detail. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are long.
- Each sleeve zips to close around the wrist and are finished with that same pretty little ruffle detail.
- The front bodice is phenomenal. It has an inner boned corset piece that starts near the top of the shoulders and then comes down in on angle to the waist. This helps to flatten out the front and push the breasts up. It is a nod to a historical front corset and is very flattering once on the body.
- It skims over the bust and waist around this front corset piece and is brought in slightly to add shape around the waist area. From there it curves back out over the hips and falls to the floor.
- The bottom flares out quite a bit so you have some movement around you when you move. You can see that on the runway video. The back is cut longer than the front so you get a pretty sweeping feel behind you.
- This is a gorgeous example of Peter's time at the label.
- The dress is fully lined in a black stretch silk layer. The back of the corset part is lined in a black cotton mix. It closes with a back hidden set zipper and has hidden set zippers at each wrist. The jersey has some stretch and I have put the comfortable range of measurements below. Its easy fit and stretch should allow it to fit a range of sizes. It is in its original uncut length. It appears to have been worn very little, if at all.

roberto cavalli
Rare Spring 2004 Roberto Cavalli Runway Look 23 Feather Light Silk Coral & Gold Print Dress
I Have a Question
- A shorter cut version of this dress walked the runway for Spring 2004 Cavalli collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli.
- The silk used on the dress is extraordinary and is all cut on the bias. It has a slight texture to it and the pattern that runs over the dress has the feel of being hand painted.
- To achieve this effect the design would have been created specifically for the dress how it lays over the dress pre-planned before the silk was cut.
- Following the pattern are fused lines made out of a gold metallic glitter for an extra touch of glitz.
- The dress is suspended from tiny silk straps that curve up and over the shoulders to attached in at the back. Little triangle sit over the bust and they are set in with seams that angle down towards the sides. It skims over your waist and hips, and then the lower skirt falls in different lengths to hem.
- The skirt is made up of panels that are attached into the dress on different angles. This gives it incredible fullness and allows it to open up around you when you move. It is cut longer at the back so you get this pretty sweeping line around you and this adds to the movement that it has.
- The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear. The bias cut of the silk allows it to drape around you once on. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

givenchy
Gorgeous 1980s Hubert de Givenchy Metallic Floral Silk Brocade Dress w Velvet Bodice & Bow
I Have a Question
- This Givenchy dress dates to the mid-late 1980s, maybe early 1990s
- It was made under the creative direction of Hubert de Givenchy.
- In 1952, Givenchy founded his namesake house on Rue Alfred de Vigny in Paris and quickly rose to fame as one of the grand couturiers. 16 years later for the 1968-69 season, he added a ready-to-wear line of clothing and accessories called 'Givenchy Nouvelle Boutique'. The line was initially sold in the United States exclusively through Bergdorf Goodman stores and was eventually available at other retailers as well. The line was high end and extremely well made. He launched this line to expand his customer base and it made to appeal specifically to his non-couture clients. This label continued until 1992.
- This dress has the Givenchy Boutique label without the Nouvelle added and as far as I am aware this label was usually reserved for special orders that were made in the atelier and then shipped to the client without any Paris fittings.
- You can see that in the many hand finishes throughout the dress. This level of construction can be considered Demi Couture from this time period.
- The dress is made out of a beautiful silk brocade that has pink and copper flowers woven throughout the fabric. The pink and slightly coral parts of the flowers are done in a more matte thread and then the copper and gold parts are done with a metallic thread. As a result the flowers almost seem to glow off of the silk. It is an incredible vintage fabric.
- The top of the dress has a low squared off neckline at the front that is made from a black velvet. It curves up and over your shoulders and has the same squared off opening at the back.
- At the front it dips slightly at the centre and placed exactly in the middle of that dip is a large black bow of the same velvet that has stiffened netting inside to help hold its shape.
- The sleeves are gorgeous. Each shoulder is shaped into a high cap. To help support the bit of a rise above the shoulder there is a stiffen thicker grosgrain ribbon that is pleated and stitched into place along the edge of the inner shoulder to add support.
- The sleeves are cut so that they curve over your arm and narrow down slightly to a zippered wrist.
- The top is meant to be more fitted and create a more empire feel.
- The dress is shaped through the waist area with vertical darts to bring the fabric in and create the curve that you see.
- The skirt falls to the floor from there and it flares out quite dramatically by the time it reaches the hem. I love how the width of the lower skirt perfectly balances the shape through the upper bodice.
- It is spectacular and the cut and design are phenomenal. This is classic Givenchy for this time period.
- The dress is backed in the same velvet where it goes over your shoulders and then the bodice and rest of the dress are lined in a black silk chiffon. It closes with a back zipper and there is a zipper at the end of each cuff. Hand finishes throughout and very well made.
- There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below

christian dior
Late 1960s Christian Dior by Marc Bohan Chic Mustard Coloured Short Sleeved Soft Suede Jacket & Belt
I Have a Question
- This jacket has the Christian Dior-New York label in it and is considered to be demi-couture from this time period of Dior's history. These where made for the American market and were most often based on the Haute Couture runway designs with many of the same high standard finishes that Haute Couture pieces incorporated.
- It was made under the creative direction of Marc Bohan
- This would be an incredible piece for any collector and it is almost shocking how modern it feels despite its actual age.
- The jacket is made out of a butter soft deep mustard coloured suede that is very pliable. It is perhaps a touch more pastel in person than how it photoed here.
- There is no collar. It simply has a band of the same suede that runs around the back of the neck and all the way down the front.
- The shoulders are soft and slightly sloped and the sleeves are short. Each sleeve is finished with the same band of the suede around their ends that the front has.
- The jacket has no closures so if you wear it without the belt it has an almost cardigan feel to it. It skims over the bust, past the waist, and then widens out as it nears the bottom hem.
- It comes with its original belt that is backed in a leather and stamped with the Dior name. You can wrap it fully around you or leave the front partially open and use the belt to add shape.
- I love the three top set flap pockets. There is one tiny one at the top of the chest and then one sits on each hip. All three pockets are fully functional.
- This is just an incredible and rare piece of Dior history.
- The jacket is fully lined in a matching colour silky rayon. It has no closures and can be worn with or without the belt. The belt is a slip buckle, so can be adjusted as needed. There is perhaps the slightest bit of rubbing to the suede at the more common touch points and a couple of tiny little darkened spots on the suede but it is very minor and it adds to the perfect patina this vintage piece has. Please see the photo after the label shot.
- There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below. Because there is no front closures and you can wrap and cinch with the belt that should fit a range of sizes.

thea porter
Fantastic 1970 Thea Porter w Documented Print by Sandra Munro Silk Chiffon Mini Dress w Ultra Wide Sleeves
I Have a Question
- This dress dates to 1970 based on the documentation that we found on the print.
- A rare example of the work that Thea Porter was producing during this time period.
- Knowing that the print was designed by Sandra Monroe, adds an extra layer to the history of the dress. The example of the print was sourced from the book on the Thea Porter's work that accompanied the exhibit on her work. Many of the examples in that book came from our archives.
- The neckline comes down in a V at the front and I love how the bodice on both sides has been created by the fabric being gathered into a diamond shaped pin tuck technique. That amazing hand stitched work curves up and over the shoulders and ends just on the other side of the top of the shoulders.
- Directly under that is a band in the same fabric that is cut on an upward curve to match the seams of the bust.
- The skirt flared out from under that and why them out as it near the hem. This may have been a full length dress at some point or it may not have been. Pieces were often altered and modified in the shop to suit the client or girls would change them afterwards.
- Either way it's an amazing mini now or could be worn as a tunic over pants or a skirt depending on your height and how daring you want to be.
- The sleeves are absolutely incredible. They come out from the waist area and widen out to be very full with a bit of a point to drop at their ends. I love the movement that this creates once it is on and how the sleeves only emphasize the length of the dress since they go just past the hem of the skirt.
- Whether you choose to wear this as a mini or tunic, it has that amazing easy to wear feel to it that her pieces so often have.
- This is an exceptional and rare example of her work.
- The dress is fully lined in a blue silk and it closes with a back zipper. Some of the thread work and the silk on the inner seams of the lining has disintegrated and I see some additional small repairs/marks to the inner lining here and there. None of this is seen once of course but mentioned for accuracy. One tiny repair near the seam of the arm.

I Have a Question
- This is an exquisite little top from the 1920s, maybe into the early 1930s
- It is unlabelled as most pieces are from this time period.
- These early pieces are exceedingly hard to find and this one is exceptional.
- It is a remarkable example of the decadence and high end textiles being produced in this time period.
- The fabric is a real metal thread metallic silver/gold lame that is done in a deep metallic that has a touch of a deep gold feel to it. Mixed with that are black embroidered patterns that run over the fabric. The colour in person. is better than how it photoed and has that true metallic feel that textiles from this era have.
- The collar is high and buttons with buttons that are covered in the same fabric. The shoulders are soft and extend into wide cut short sleeves.
- The body of the top is loose and easy and meant to just fit full over the body so is easy to fit on a variety of sizes. On a smaller frame, it will just drape more.
- The lame seems strong and wearable with the care and love it deserves to be shown. The fabric would have been custom designed and made.
- The top is unlined and slips on to wear with buttons at the front. There is some darkening to the metal threads. This is common on pieces from this era. The mark on the back is the one that showcases this the most. Please see the photos. The top is well made and I think it could be worn either way around.
- There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
- Great condition

madame gres
Exceptional Spring 1974 Madame Gres Haute Couture Unlabeled Documented Blue Silk Jersey Skirt & Top
I Have a Question
- This is a very rare Haute Couture Gres skirt and top hat from Spring 1974.
- It was made under the creative direction of Madame Gres.
- The documented to Spring 1974 was done through the sketch of it that we have added here.
- This is the exact set that was worn by Annabelle Wallis. I love that the photos of her show how beautiful this is once it is on. The movement even through the static photographs is phenomenal.
- Madame Gres' work has had profound effects on Haute Couture and her influence still resonates to this day. Her attention to detail, master draping techniques, and respect for the female form is unparalleled. She was known for designing and creating garments directly on her models and this became a signature of her work.
- She opened her first atelier, La Maison Alix in 1932. A partnership briefly changed the house's name to Alix Barton and then the label went to simply Alix. In 1942 she married, and the label made its last change to became Madame Gres, which was a partial anagram of Serge, her husband's first name. Her work spans over five full decades with the vast majority of it, with the exception of a short-lived RTW line begun in 1980, dedicated solely to creating Haute Couture. She is one of the greatest couturiers of our time and her pieces are very rare and hard to find.
- This Haute Couture set is exceptional. Both pieces are made from a bias cut silk jersey done in a perfect tropical sea blue that has a touch of turquoise to it. Silk jersey was one of her signature fabrics. The pleating detailing on the bodice of this set is one of her signature techniques.
- As with many of her pieces the cut and design of both pieces are simple and minimalist but with maximum impact.
- Tiny straps made from the same jersey curve over the shoulders. Under that is the incredible hand-pleated bandeau bodice. Two panels of pleated silk jersey curve around each and wrap behind you creating a curving pattern with openings between the curves all the way around.
- The silk jersey on the bands has been pleated entirely by hand with tiny little hand stitches hidden in the folds.
- It is lightly boned inside and completely made by hand. You can see all the hand work in the photos where I have shown the back. It wraps and curves over itself at the back and closes with two hidden sets of hook and eye.
- An expanse of bare skin sits between the top and the skirt. Depending on your height, the amount of skin shown between the skirt and top will vary.
- The skirt falls from the waist in a swoop of bias cut silk jersey that widens out as it nears the hem. There are yards and yards of jersey in the skirt. You really get an idea of that in the photos of Annabelle. It is quite exceptional.
- Every seam on the dress has been finished by hand. Working with a bias cut silk jersey in this manner is an incredible achievement that would have taken countless hours of handwork to complete.
- It is a work of art and very rare. It very well may be the only one that exists.
- The top is lined in a matching silk with all of the hand were clearly seen. It is lightly boned and hooks to close. The skirt hooks to close at the waist and then snaps under that. I see a bit of grubbiness on the inner lining of the top and on some of the edges of the top and the waistband of the skirt. There is the occasional tiny pull in the jersey. The straps have been reinforced. The hem of the skirt is deliberately raw. I see a couple tiny pinhead holes in the jersey of the skirt near the hem. There is so much fabric in the skirt that you would never see them but it is mentioned for accuracy. The dress is unlabelled. Both pieces are finished to Haute Couture standards and entirely made by hand.
- There is no size tag is present because it is true Haute Couture so please go by the measurements below.

christian dior
Outstanding 1960s Christian Dior by Marc Bohan Demi-Couture Sky Blue Silk Bombshell Dress
I Have a Question
- I believe this dress is from the early 1960s when Marc Bohan took over Dior. It has the Dior tag inside that would have been used in this time period. There is the possibility that it is earlier.
- The dress is almost completely made by hand to a Demi-Couture level and has that fitted hourglass bombshell silhouette of the era.
- It is made out of a sky blue very high end silk. The colour is slightly paler in person than how it photoed here.
- The bodice is shaped with inner boning and stiffened netting built into the inner layers of the bust to create that defined front shaping. It has straps that curve up and over each shoulder. The straps button into place on both the front and back so you could easily remove them and wear this as a strapless dress. I love that extra versatility.
- It is meant to be very fitted around you through the bodice and has built in infrastructure to shape and hold everything in place.
- It nips in at the waist and there is more inner structure built-in around the top of the hips t emphasize a curved hourglass feeling coming out and over the hips.
- The skirt comes back in below the hips slightly and then it flares out for the lower skirt. The back is cut slightly longer than the front for a beautiful little flare at the back. It is an absolute bombshell of dress.
- The dress is fully lined in a blue silk that is all hand set. I feel like the bodice near the waist is slightly paler in colour by the teeniest little bit. It is very minor. I am being very picky and it is mentioned for accuracy. There is evidence that the front dart seams were let out a touch at some point. Please see the photo after the label shot. I see a small teeny tiny darkened mark on the front of the skirt near the knee that is extremely minor but also mention for accuracy. These are all very minor.

lanvin
Gorgeous Resort 2012 Lanvin by Aber Elbaz Ivory Lace, Silk & Silk Netting Wedding Dress
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress was a part of the presentation for the Resort 2012 collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Alber Elbaz.
- The dress is made of an ivory cotton lace with silk net edging that falls beautifully over the body. It is a dress that is easy to wear and very flattering.
- The bodice has a soft and romantic feel as it glides over you. The shoulders are wide and curve into a shallow scoop at the front. I love how he chose to edge the neckline and openings for the arms with that little bit of silk for a pretty contrast.
- The lace skims over the bust and is cut more generously around the waist. This helps to keep the silhouette soft and pretty. If you did want a more defined shape you could easily add a belt or silk ribbon around the waist that could be as elaborate as or simple as you wished it to be.
- The lace skims past the waist and then the skirt is set over top of the lace of the bodice in a very deliberate way that makes the seam there a part of the design. The workmanship is exquisite where they meet and I love how the fabric of the skirt has been gathered into little ruffles that curve all the way around you.
- From there it falls over the hips and down to the floor in a beautiful drape of lace. The fabric is light and soft and there is an additional layer of silk chiffon underneath so that it feels amazing against the skin. It is cut supermodel long in length. All of the fabric that was gathered in around the top of the hips is allowed to expand and give you the fullness of the skirt so that you get this pretty sweep of fabric around you when you move.
- It is extremely pretty and romantic in feel.
- The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk chiffon. It closes with an exposed bronze colour zipper at the side. It appears to have been worn very little at all.

I Have a Question
- This dress dates to the 2010s and is from the Lanvin Blanche line.
- It was made under the creative direction Alber Elbaz.
- The dress is made of a soft ivory dotted net mixed with lace panels that is stunning on the body. This combination of those two fabrics allow it to drape beautifully over the body and highlight your every curve in a very flattering way.
- The bodice has a soft and romantic feel as it glides over you. The shoulders are wide and curve over and down into a V at the front. At the sides, each arm hole is also cut into a V to give the dress a pretty nod to a Grecian feel.
- The dotted netting of the bodice is gathered into the top of the shoulders and around the waist for a pretty and soft feel.
- A chevron patterned lace wraps around the waist. A band of prong set rhinestones tops the band. Underneath the lace there is panel that combines rhinestones and domed matte metallic beads. I love the way this adds detail around the waistline and the workmanship is exquisite.
- From there the skirt curves out and over the hips and falls to the floor. Panels of lace are mixed in with the tiers of the dotted netting. These fall all the way down the skirt with each band getting wider and more full as it reaches the hem. The way the skirt widens as it reaches the floor allows for a pretty sweep of fabric around you as you move.
- The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk and closes at the back with a hidden set zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
- There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

Romantic Resort 2015 Valentino by Pierpaolo & Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri Cotton Embroidered Dress w Flower Belt
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress in black was shown as Look 15 for the 2015 Resort presentation.
- It was made under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
- In the Vogue review for this collection they said: "Monastic, artistocratic, modest, and even prim have been terms applied to Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli's Valentino almost since they took over in 2009."
- l absolutely love this dress. It is well documented and it is the perfect romantic feeling dress that could also be fantastic as part of a wedding weekend.
- The cut of the dress is very simple so that the beautiful cotton that has been embroidered and pin tucked can take centre stage. This fabric gives it a nod to the past while still feeling modern.
- I love that it can easily have a more elegant evening feel by styling it with heels and some statement jewels and that you can wear it with or without the floral belt for a completely different look.
- The fabric is a just lightly off-white cotton that has a touch of transparency to it. It is lined in more cotton so that it is wearable and has structure. Onto that are panels of flowers that are embroidered and cut out with embroidery around their edges. These have been placed to follow and highlight the cut of the dress. They cover the dress from shoulder to hem and this added texture gives the dress the most beautiful visual interest. It is quite stunning.
- The neckline is cut across and the ruffle that goes all the way around the neck line sits at the top outer edge of your shoulder.
- The bodice skims over you and the waist nips in. It comes with a pretty belt that you can wear with it, change to another belt or wear it without any, and it looks just as good.
- I love the belt. It is made from cut out fabric flowers in a variety of colours that have been pieced together and strung onto a belt. I sometimes see this dress sold without the original belt and it is very lovely to have the full set.
- The skirt falls from there and has a pretty fullness to it. It falls outwards to the hem and gets wider as it goes. It has very pretty movement once on.
- The dress is fully lined in a lightweight gauze cotton and closes with a hidden set back zipper. The belt ties into place around you. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

christian dior
Prettiest Spring 2006 Christian Dior by John Galliano Ivory Silk Top & Skirt Set w Embroidered Flowers
I Have a Question
- This set is from the Spring 2006 Dior collection
- It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
- This is a gorgeous little set that is very pretty and has that perfect feel of the work that Galliano was doing for the label during this time period.
- I always love finding a pretty little set like this because it just gives you more options to be able to style the pieces. With this set you also have the option of wearing the top tucked into the skirt or letting it lay above the skirt's waist-line for a softer feel. Both pieces will also mix and match with other things you already have in your closet.
- The pieces are made from a beautiful light in weight silk that has a secondary deeper ivory flower woven into it with a different finishing thread.
- Small medallions of embroidered flowers paired with a scattering of gold flower and leaves cover the fabric. These give the fabric an almost antique feel that is gorgeous.
- The top buttons to close and it is suspended from the shoulders by tiny straps that come out from the centre of the top and cross over the upper back on the other side.
- The top has the feel of a lingerie piece with soft gathered cups and little insets of lace underneath the breasts.
- Both the top edge of the camisole and the bottom hem are detailed with a lace finish that has a pretty ivory ribbon running through it.
- The top buttons to close up the front. My dress form doesn't have quite enough chest to really have this sit on it properly but it will be better on an actual body.
- The skirt is a little masterpiece. It has a banded waist for shape and then it is made of several panels placed horizontally on curving bands down the skirt. When you lay it out flat it is tremendously full across the bottom and this is what lets it fall in those pretty folds that you see here.
- It is a gorgeous little set.
- Both pieces of the set are unlined. The top closes with a series of Mother-of-Pearl appearing buttons down the front that have Dior engraved into them. The skirt zips to close with hidden set snaps on the waistband. I see that the very bottom button is missing.

Outstanding 2010s Valentino by the Original Mr. Valentino Two Piece Metallic Gold Sequin Covered Set
I Have a Question
- This is a spectacular vintage Valentino from the main Valentino line.
- It was made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino.
- This is the full two piece set that consists of a stunning a little top and its matching skirt. Having the two pieces means you can mix and match it with other things you already own.
- Thousands of little gold sequins in three shades of different metallic gold cover a layer of lace and netting on both pieces with different degrees of coverage.
- The top has a base of an embroidered lace and netting. The embroidery forms the suggestion of flowers and also creates the elaborate edgings of the top. The sequins are applied onto that to highlight the design and give some coverage while still allowing a slight bit of transparency underneath. The top is lined in a second layer of netting, but you do get transparency through the design. It is fantastic.
- The neckline of the top is high to frame the neck. The shoulders are soft and curved down into pretty sleeves that have a scalloped finish. That same scalloping finish also edges the bottom hem.
- This is a top that is meant to be worn untucked. There is a band of gold silk that wines through the waist of the top and ties at the front to send it in for added shape. It skims over the bust above and then curves out over the hips below.
- The skirt is equally as fabulous. It has an inner hidden banded waist for shape and then it curves over the hips and falls in a chic little pencil to just above, or at, the knee, depending on your height.
- The skirt has a dense coverage of the same sequins that highlight the shape of the top. Here there are no gaps left in between and the sequins are applied so heavily that some of them actually sit off the skirt for added texture and a slight 3D feel.
- I love the contrast created between the two pieces by changing the density of the sequins. It makes the set feel even more luxe and rich.
- I have taken close-up shots of the sequin work for you to see how beautiful it is. There are three shades of sequins used in the pattern a more shiny light gold a matte deep gold, and an almost copper coloured version. The combination of the three are what give the set a beautiful extra glint in the light. These are all set to form the pattern that you see over the entire set.
- With all of the sequins and beads applied onto it the pieces catches the light perfectly from every angle and every angle that you view them from is absolutely stunning.
- This is an outstanding example of how good Valentino can be and the very high level of quality original Valentino was made at.
- The top closes with a hidden set side zipper and also has a hidden side zipper at the back of the neck. The skirt closes at the side with a hidden set zipper.
- The skirt is tagged a vintage Valentino 6
- Excellent condition

dolce & gabbana
Spring 2015 Dolce & Gabbana Runway Look 48 Silk Brocade Mini Dress w Elaborate Front Embellishments
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress was Look 48 on the Spring 2015 Dolce and Gabbana runway
- It was made under the creative direction of Domenico Solce and Stefano Gabbana
- This dress was only available as a special order piece and the original price was just over 20,000 euros. They were made on a very limited basis.
- The embellishment on this piece was done to a Couture/Alta Moda level. It combines hand carved metal and has different kinds of embellishments that all been placed by hand in the pattern that you see over the dress on both the front, sides and back. There are small 3D silver flowers with pearls topping them, hand-made red patent leather flowers in various sizes, 3D three layered golden metal carved flowers with red crystal rhinestones, and big hand carved metal plates, with some of rhinestones directly embedded onto the metal plates. It is truly a work of art and showcases the very best of the Dolce ateliers.
- I love that we have reference photos so that you can see how fantastic this is once it sits on an actual body.
- The embellishments cover the entire front bodice of the dress and then run all the way around the band at the waist. The skirt is equally covered at the front with the embellishments continuing around to the sides. I have taken multiple photos, including ones of the dress laying flat so that you can see just how elaborate and wonderful all of the embellishments are.
- The dress is made out of a white silk brocade that has a pattern on pattern to the silk for the perfect backdrop to the elaborate detailing added onto it.
- The shoulders are soft and the sleeves curve over the top of your shoulder. The neck line is scooped. It skims over your bust to a wide band that highlights the waist. The skirt flares out to a mini length hem.
- The dress is fully lined in a white silk and closes with a back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Spring 2018 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Pink Silk Organza Dress w Rhinestones & Metallic Silver Appliques
I Have a Question
- The dress is from the Spring 2018 Valentino collection.
- It was made under the Creative Direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli
- This was a red carpet favourite and its twin was seen on both Nicole Kidman and Nicky Hilton It is a beautiful example of how wonderful Pierpaolo could cut a dress.
- Over the course of his time at Valentino Pierpaolo did several variations of these elaborate ruffled and embellished dresses in different fabrications and each is beautiful. The cut of the dress makes it easy to wear and it is very flattering once on the body. It has a beautifully feminine feel and is very striking with the addition of the ruffles. The pink is infinitely gorgeous on almost every skin tone.
- The dress is fabulous and is even better in person than how it photoed here.
- It is made from a pink silk organza mixed with panels of lace set in a chevron pattern that runs down the bodice and top of the skirt on both the back and the front. These fabric choices keeps it light in weight but still give it enough structure to hold that gorgeous shape that you see.
- The neck is cut high with a band of lace running around the neck. A little ruffle of organza runs around the bottom of the collar and this sets the tone for the rest of the dress.
- A ruffle details the top of each shoulder, the end of the cuffs, and then more ruffles are set throughout the dress and around the hem.
- The bodice is cut to skim over you and I love the bit of play on transparency with the very top of the bodice and the sleeves with them being babe can you see if you can get them in yeah I like that a lot! I actually didn't even know that. I think that would do well. a single layer of the organza. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are long and slightly taper down to a ruffled wrist.
- The waist is detailed with more ruffles and is cut slightly on the more generous size. This is a signature cut for him and makes the dress very easy and flattering to wear.
- The skirt falls from there to the floor. It is wonderfully full and extremely elaborate. Chevron panels of lace detail the top portion of the skirt and then panels of organza continue down set on angles for the full length of the skirt. Every second panel of organza has a ruffle peeking out from underneath. The skirt is very wide by the time it reaches the hem and it has wonderful movement.
- Over the entire dress is an absolutely gorgeous mix of hand set rectangular silver metallic sequins that are set vertically over the dress. These are mixed with hand set pronged rhinestones that follow the design of the dress. On the sleeves they are set in vertical rows and then throughout the dress they are set in angled rows to follow the chevron design of the lace and organza.
- This was a special order piece and very few were made.
- The dress is fully lined in a pink silk. It closes with a hidden back set zipper and buttons at the back of the neck. Each sleeve has a button at the wrist. It is in its original uncut length. It has its original tags attached and was never worn.

oscar de la renta
Gorgeous 1980s Oscar de la Renta Deep Fuchsia Pink Silk Strapless Silk Dress w Full Skirt
I Have a Question
- This gorgeous ODLR dress that dates to the late 1980s maybe early 1990s.
- It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
- It is a classic design that is extremely wearable. You see this silhouette repeated in variations throughout his career and it is very flattering once it is on the body.
- The dress is made out of the perfect deep fuchsia pink silk that has a touch of a deep coral undertone. It is strapless and the neckline curves around and over the bust on a slight upwards curve. The strapless silhouette leaves your upper back bare and exposed.
- The seamwork on the top portion of the dress has all been done vertically and this is what shapes it to hug your bodice and curve in at the waist.
- Inside there is a full built-in corset encased in its own layer of pink silk. It is cupped, boned and shaped for support with its own zipper and hook at the waist. This is what holds the dress in place around you..
- The skirt is spectacular. Here you see the full genius of Oscar. The skirt has a ton of volume to it that shows best when you move.
- The skirt becomes wider and more full as it nears the hem. At the back it falls longer then the front so that you get this pretty curve from the side along with a fantastic sweep of skirts from the back.
- The way that it is cut causes a natural inward curve at the sides. This gives it the feel of a more column shaped skirt from the front and it then curves slightly inwards and back out around you at the sides. When you move, that inward curve expands outwards to move with you so the skirt becomes fuller. It is just a beautiful silhouette and shows his skill at tailoring and cut.
- All of the volume through the skirt is created by the addition of a separate matching underskirt that is original to the dress. It has a silk inset around the hips for a proper fit and then has matching pink tulle that falls from the waist over the hips. I love that the front tulle has less layers and fullness than the back so that it matches and highlights the design of the ski skirt. I shot it from both the back and the front so you can see the change in volume.
- When this is on and you are walking, the effect and movement that it creates is absolutely gorgeous. It is so much better and more dramatic in person than how it looks on the dress form.
- The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk organza. The interior corset is encased in pink silk and it closes with its own zipper at the side. A second hidden set zipper closes the dress over that. The inner corset is fully boned and cupped. An attached inner waist stay hooks to close. At some point the seams were let out a touch on at each side seam and you can see evidence of that. I have taken photos of both sides. There is some slight grubbiness around the hem here and there which is minor but mentioned for accuracy.
- Note that if you increase the size of the underskirt, the measurements of the actual dress should accommodate a small-medium. The modern size range mark below is based mainly on the measurements of the underskirt.
- The accompanying underskirt is tagged a vintage Oscar 8 and the dress has no size tag

bill blass
Fall 1987 Bill Blass Runway Strapless Black Velvet Detailed Blue Silk Dress w Elaborate Back Bow
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress walked the Fall 1987 Bill Blass runway.
- It was made under the creative direction of Bill Blass.
- I love that we found a reference photo from the runway so you can see just how fantastic this is once on.
- This is the actual dress worn Mikey Madison to the Oscars Nominees Dinner in February and she landed on several best dressed lists as a result.
- Bill Blass launched his label in 1970 when he bought out the Maurice Rentner label and re-launched it under his own name. Blass was arguably one of the most famous of the American designers. His forte was the ability to mix simple styles with unexpected materials in way that was very flattering to the wearer.
- It is one of those dresses that looks amazing on the dress form but is even better on an actual person.
- The fabric feels like art. The base is a rich blue silk and then onto this is a fantastic design made of out a black velvet. The velvet is very soft to the touch with a chenille like finish that gives the design a beautiful texture and softness.
- The dress has the feel of an antique 18th century gown and I love this reference back to the past.
- The top is a fitted and strapless with a band of black silk wrapping around the breasts. It falls from there to skim outward over the waist and hips, and then narrows back down to the floor as it reaches the hem. This gives the front of the dress a more long and lean feel but with a hint that something special might happen as you turn.
- The back is the star of the show. Sitting over the top of the closure at the back is a large black velvet bow. This tops an added panel underneath that is very extravagant. The panel curves outwards and then loops back in to attach just under the hips. A second black velvet bow sits at the base of where it is attached back into the dress. A slit is hidden under the panel to give you room to walk while keeping the narrow silhouette of the hem.
- The dress is fully lined in a black silk. It closes with a back painted metal zipper hidden under a seam and there is an inner hooked waist stay. There is light boning through the bodice. Hand work throughout. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
- There is no size tag present, so please go by the measurements below.
- Excellent condition

giorgio armani
Fantastic Fall 1998 Giorgio Armani Runway, Ad Campaign & Exhibit Silk Skirt w Fall 2001 Sequin Top Set
I Have a Question
- The skirt from this set is from the Fall 1998 runway and then sequin top was shown on the runway for Fall 2001.
- It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
- The twin of the skirt walk the runway with a fitted long sleeved matching top. That version of the set was used in the ad campaign. It is also featured in their new Archivo online section, worn on the red carpet and featured in an Armani exhibit.
- My client wore it with this sequin top instead that is also from the Armani main line and its twin was in the runway collection.
- The base of the top is a blue chiffon that is a slightly different shade than the skirt. Because of the heavy application of sequins it works well together.
- The top is a simple tank with a scooped front and back and a more generous cut through the body that makes it very easy to wear.
- It is fully covered in blue iridescent sequins that are laid flat outside by side horizontally. Mixed into that are little tiny, silver, sequins and beads rose of tiny seed, beads and little shots of white sequins and red bead work. It's very pretty and the entire top has the sequence coverage on both the front and the back.
- I love how at the back of the top it's left with no closures for the little bit of the bottom. This is a very Armani signature where he lets part of the closure stay open, so you have that little peak of the skirt underneath it and that little bit of extra movement.
- The skirt is stunning. It's made out of a deep blue silk mix, and it is all cut on the bias. It has a flat front with an inner band that helps to hold it and give structure around the waist.
- From there, it curves out over the hips and expands outward to the floor. The front is cut shorter, and then the back herbs around to become a sweeping train of silk behind you. There is a slit that runs up one side so that when you walk, you get a flash of leg.
- I love that because it is two separate pieces. You can wear these together or mix a match either piece with existing things in your wardrobe.
- The top is fully lined in a blue chiffon and closes with hidden set snaps at the back. The skirt is online and closes with a hidden set side zipper.
- The skirt is tagged a vintage Armani 42 and the top has no size tag present.
- Excellent condition

george halley
Outstanding 1967 George Halley Couture Heavily Embroidered, Rhinestone & Applique Soft Pink Dress
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress in a different colour resides in the permanent collection of the Met Museum.
- It was made under the creative direction of George Halley.
- Halley was one of the great American Couturiers.
- George Halley started his career working for Charles James who said of the young designer that he 'was a genius at draping'. By the time Halley opened his own atelier in 1966 he was well on his way to fame. He won the Coty Award in 1968 and his work is on par with true couture. He is one of my personal favourite designers.
- Women's Wear Daily called him 'a designer in a lovely world of his own' and that is how I feel about his work.
- This is an absolutely outstanding dress that shows the extreme level of detail that was being done with Couture pieces in this era. This would have been made entirely by hand in his Salon.
- A pale pink silk net tops a pink silk and then this has an elaborate detailing added over its surface with 3D velvet flowers, prong set rhinestones, hand beading and faux pearls
- Over that is a application of hand done metallic embroidery that covers the top layer of netting.
- The front has a high empire cut with an attached velvet band around the waist. This ends in a pretty and romantic bow at the back.
- The workmanship on the stress is spectacular and I've included a lot of close-ups for you to see. No matter how amazing you think it looks in the photos. It is better in person.
- The dress has been completely made by hand to a Couture level.
- It closes with a back zipper and snaps over the bow. The dress is hand lined in a pale pink silk. I see a little bit of grubbiness on the velvet sash and bow. I feel like this could be removed and replaced with the original just cap to side so that you have all of the pieces, but it would be easy to add a sash of your choice and maybe even extend it down the back. There is some very slight change in colour along some of the edges of the inner pink silk lining, some minor grubbiness along the hem and some splitting of the silk on the inner hem along the very edge at the bottom. These are all minor but mentioned for accuracy
- There was no size tag present, so please go buy the measurements listed below.
- Excellent condition

lanvin
Spectacular Spring 2011 Lanvin by Alber Elbaz Pale Metallic Gold Silver Lame One Shoulder Dress
I Have a Question
- This is a gorgeous dress from the Lanvin Spring 2011 collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Alber Elbaz.
- It's twin was worn by Kate Hudson that season for the Glamour Magazine Women of the Year gala. I love that these photo show you how spectacular this dress is once on the body.
- The dress is made of a very light in weight silk mix. The fabric is detailed with gold and silver metallic threads that give the entire dress a subtle glimmer. I love how the metallic feel is muted but it is still definitely a metallic feeling dress.
- The mix of using both gold and silver threads let it catch the light in a different way, and it almost has a slight ballet pink tone to it. You can see that in the photos.
- All of the edges on the dress have been left raw and this is purposeful and was one of his signatures techniques.
- The fabric is gathered in on the side with the zipper and then it sweeps up to a wide set seam across the top of the shoulder. This drapes down over the very top of your arm in a very soft and pretty way.
- Inside the bodice there is a full built-in corset that is lightly boned and holds the dress in place around you.
- The fabric continues down from there to skim past the waist and hips. The lower skirt flares are quite a bit and one side falls longer for a beautiful line.
- There is a bit of a ruffle set on the other side of the zipper towards the back of the hip and a raw edged panel runs all the way down the length of the dress on the other side.
- The zipper is really what makes the dress. It is one of his signature exposed chunky zippers that runs down the side. What makes this one different is that it opens from the top and also from the bottom which allows you to make the slit that runs up the side as high as you dare to go.
- It is a phenomenal example of his patterning and draping skills.
- The dress is unlined except for that built-in corset. The corset closes with its own zipper and is lightly boned. It has an attached inner waist stay that hooks to close. The dress zips to close over that and you can open that outer zipper from both the top or the bottom as described above.
- Tagged a Lanvin 36
- Excellent condition and it appears to have been worn very little if at all.

I Have a Question
- I have included a reference photos from 1964 that shows similar versions of this dress. This dress does not have its Sarmi label, but it does have a Bergdorf's label that has the 1968 date on it. I believe it was custom ordered based on those earlier dresses.
- It was made under the creative direction of Ferdinando Sarmi.
- This is so thoroughly a Sarmi piece that it is quite incredible.
- The bodice has an ivory silk base that is covered in an off-white mink fur. It has an inner built-in lightly boned bodice.
- The skirt is made from multiple layers of a slightly stiffened ivory tulle with silk organza and silk layers set in under that.
- Onto the very top layer of the skirt are little various size dots made of eyelash tinsel in metallic silver, gold, blue and green. These sparkle from every angle and it is quite incredible.
- It has an empire feel with a large ivory silk, wide ribbon, tied into a bow at the front for a pretty detail.
- The sleeves are just stitched onto the the top so I think you could easily remove them if you prefer this as a strapless.
- It is completely made by hand throughout to Demi Couture level.
- The dress is lined in ivory through the bottom and the layers of the skirt as described above act as the lining period it closes with a back zipper. I see one tiny break in the fur along the edge of one sleeve. There may be a tiny area here in there around the edges where the fur has lifted just a touch, but it is very minor.
- There is no size tag present because it was almost certainly made to order so please go by the measurements listed below.

I have a small collection of historically important, key designer labelled vintage furs and fur trimmed pieces stored away in my archives that I will be slowly posting on the site over the next couple of years until I have none left. I will no longer be buying furs for the shop moving forward and have not purchased anything for several years now. I feel like times have changed and while there still is a place for vintage furs for some, including collectors and historians, many modern girls are choosing other options. Many of the pieces in my collection are representative of the designer during a set time period in history that was different then our modern outlook. I have decided that the best course to handle this controversial issue is to let the pieces I have go rather then sit in a cold storage unit. Fur pieces are final sale.

Spring 1987 Yves Saint Laurent Strapless Dotted Silk Net Dress w Rhinestone Detail & Full Lower Skirts
I Have a Question
- This dress is a version of a series of dresses that Yves sent down the runway for the Spring 1987 collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
- I have included reference photos of similar dresses used for the ad campaign and shown on the runway so that you can get an idea of how great this dress will be on the body.
- The 1987 collection is one of my all time favourites and I am very pleased to have this wonderful example from it in the shop.
- The dress is made from a black silk base with a layer of dotted black silk netting applied over the bodice in horizontal bands. This choice in fabric gives the dress its structure and shape so that it holds the shape around you once on.
- The bodice is strapless and cut on a soft curve across the neckline. It is lightly boned on the inside to hold the dress perfectly in place. It curves in over the waist and then curves back out over the hips. From there the lower skirts flare outwards to the hem.
- The lower skirt is quite full and makes an incredible statement. It has a fishnet style lace for its top layer. Under that is a layer of dotted lace to subtly tie in the lace of the bodice. Under those layers two more layers of the fishnet lace to give it its incredible fullness.
- On the bodice the lace is separated by five wide bands made out of a black silk ribbon that give a beautiful and rich feel to the dress. I love the contrast between the texture of the silk and the dotted netting.
- Each ribbon is stacked to run from the very top of the bodice to the lowest seam above the skirt. Each ribbon is gathered into a little folded bow and has a round metal circle attached that is finished with glossy black glass rhinestones. There are five of those big jewelled pieces in total and they add the perfect amount of glitz to the dress. The combination of the silk ribbon, the dotted lace, the jewelled circles and that stunning full lower skirt is just gorgeous to see and it is even better on the body.
- The dress fully lined in a crisp black cotton and closes with a side set zipper. The inner bodice is lightly boned and shaped. I see some minor repairs in the netting of the skirt. You only see them if you are looking for them because of the amount of fabric in the skirt and the black layers. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little if at all.

guy laroche
Incredible Fall 1998 Guy Laroche by Alber Elbaz Runway Black Jersey Reissue of the Mireille Darc Backless Dress
I Have a Question
- The twin of the dress walked the runway for the Fall 1998 Guy Laroche collection
- It was made under the creative direction of Alber Elbaz.
- Alber was at Laroche from 1996 to 1998. The final collection that he designed was the Spring 1999 show and then he moved to YSL Rive Gauche directly after.
- This dress is an obvious take / reissue on the famous 1972 Laroche designed by Guy and worn by Mireille Darc in the film 'The Tall Blond Man With One Black Shoe'.
- The dress is made out of a soft black jersey that is a mix of wool and silk. This makes it extremely comfortable to wear. It also gives it a slight touch of modernity from the original.
- Like the original it has that deeply plunging and open back. The opening on this version goes right to the top of the neck instead of closing at the back of the neck like the original.
- The front neck is scooped and sits high up on the neck. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are long. I love how he added a flared cuff to the ends of each sleeve instead of keeping them tight and fitted. It gives the dress a slightly more fluid feel.
- It skim over the bust and waist with simple darts, adding shape around the bust area. The jersey makes it very easy to fit because it has some stretch.
- From there it curves back out over the hip and falls to the floor. The bottom flares out quite a bit to pick up on the flare of the sleeves. There is an inset triangle of panel at the back to give it more flare.
- The back is fully open and the scoop is deep. This is intentional and meant to have that same shocking effect that the original dress had. Even knowing of the original dress, it still felt shocking when it was seen on the runway. I don't think it's quite as deep as the runway version but it's really dependent on your height and length of your torso. I have provided the measurement from the neck to the base of the scoop below.
- This is an incredibly rare dress and you may not see one again. I love the double dose of fashion history that this one has with the tie in with the original, as well as being an early piece of Alber's work, plus the documentation on the runway. A collectors dream.
- The dress is unlined and slips on to wear with no closures. The black jersey has some stretch and I have put the comfortable range of measurements below. Its easy fit and stretch should allow it to fit a range of sizes. It appears to have been worn very little, if at all.

yves saint laurent
Spring 1987 Yves Saint Laurent Numbered Haute Couture Strapless Black Handmade Lace Dress
I Have a Question
- This amazing dress is from the Spring 1987 Haute Couture collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
- The dress would have been made completely by hand in the Paris atelier.
- The dress is made from a hand made black French corded lace and this choice in fabric gives the dress its structure and shape. This is mixed with silk satin details across the top of the bottom, around the hip, and finishing the hem.
- The bodice is strapless and is cut to curve across the front. Inside there is a full separate couture level corset that is boned and shaped to hold the dress perfectly in place around you.
- It curves in to skim over the waist and then it curves back out and over the hips. Just under the hips is an attached black silk ribbon that wraps around you and ties in a bow at the front.
- The skirt falls underneath the ribbon detailing and down to the floor. It widens out quite a bit around you for lovely movement when you move. The skirt is cut slightly longer at the back and has extra fabric for a bit of a sweeping feel behind you.
- I love how there is a matching dip at the back of the bodice that picks up on the shape of the extended back skirt. This is all done to add the illusion of length.
- As with all couture pieces, and Yves' especially, they only truly come to life once on the body. This dress looks so simple and easy but it is really a bit of an understated masterpiece in person.
- The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a side set zipper. The inner corset closes with its own zipper. The corset is lightly boned through the bodice and shaped. An inner waist stay hooks to close.
- There is no size tag present since it is Haute Couture so please go by the measurements list listed below.

roberto cavalli
Very Rare Spring 2007 Roberto Cavalli Green Pleated Silk Chiffon Dress w Open Back & Sides
I Have a Question
- This dress is from the Spring 2007 collection and it is a version of the blue dress that walk the runway for look 14.
- It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli.
- Rihanna wore its twin to the 2007 Grammys which is an amazing reference for you to be able to see what this looks like on the body.
- It is absolutely beautiful with its intricate pleating that runs over the entire dress. I love how the pleats are set in different directions to pick up on and highlight the cut of the dress.
- It is made out of a light silk chiffon done in the prettiest soft green colour. It feels more of a pastel green in person than how it shot here.
- The front panel is set to run across the body with all of the pleating done on an angle to follow the line of the neck line and of the bottom of the panel that wraps around the waist. Where your arm slips through there is a wide band of green silk that circles over the shoulder and around the arm.
- A second panel extends out from the side of the waist and curves across the back to meet the opening for the arm. This leaves large portions of bare skin showing all the way down one side and above and below the panel of the back. It is very sexy.
- The skirt and waist have a band of the same solid green used around the arm. The band is meant to sit a bit low slung on the hip and you can see that in the photos of Rihanna on the red carpet. If you wear it higher up the top will blouse over more.
- There is a light line of tiny stitching that runs across the lower part of the front of the bodice. This is done so the silk doesn't sit way off the body if you chose to wear the waistline up higher and it blouses over. It is a brilliantly thought out technical detail.
- There is an incredible amount of fabric in the skirt and the long vertical pleats help it to flare out. The lightness of the silk chiffon combined with the bounce of the pleat creates amazing movement when you walk.
- The bodice is lined in a green silk and there is a built-in bottom part of a bodysuit that sits just inside and under the waist band. It hooks to close and helps hold the dress in place. The skirt is lined in a matching green silk chiffon. It closes with a hidden set back zipper and you just slip your arm through the circle at the side of the top.

arnold scaasi
Documented Fall 1987 Arnold Scaasi Black Strapess Velvet & Green Silk Full Skirt Silk Dress
I Have a Question
- The sleeved version of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1987 collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Arnold Scassi.
- Scaasi launched his boutique line in 1984 and it was high end ready-to-wear and very expensive. He was born Arnold Isaacs in Montreal and the name Scassi is simply his own surname in reverse. He studied in Montreal and in Paris, apprenticed at the house of Paquin and then worked with the legendary Charles James. In 1964 he opened own couture salon.
- It is very rare to find documentation of his work from this time period and I love having it so that you can see how amazing it is on. I think this strapless one is even better then the runway version.
- You can easily see the influence of Arnold having worked for Charles James in this piece. The lines are dramatic and yet elegant.
- The dress is strapless and the top portion of the dress is made from an inky black velvet. It is dramatically shaped at the front with wired peaks and a V plunge at the front.
- It nips in at the waist and then angles down from one side low on the hip on the other. On the side that sits higher up there is a large bow detail that gives the effect of holding all the gathers of the skirt in place.
- The skirt is set under that and the long angling seam on the opposite hip adds visual length to the dress as it extends down and into a deep point. The skirt is quite full and the shape and volume that you see is held by the inner construction.
- Layers of tulle netting set underneath the outermost layer of silk. The green of the skirt is a true brilliant emerald. This unexpected shock of colour is fantastic.
- The dress is fully lined in a green silky rayon. The bodice is lightly boned and it closes with a hidden set side zipper. Built in stiff tulle under skirts and the skirt is interlined in a green organza.
- There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
- Excellent condition

versace
Outstanding Fall 2001 Versace by Donatella Versace Runway Look 54 Green Silk Bias Cut Dress
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress walked the runway as Look 54 for the Fall 2001 Versace show.
- It was made under the creative direction of Donatella Versace.
- In the show notes, Donatella said "above all a woman must dress to please herself". In the book Versace Catwalk they noted that the collection "evoked a hedonistic pop culture moment – late 1970s? Early 1980s? – that was picked up throughout the collection and expanded upon by Steven Mizell when he photographed the advertising campaign in the Playboy mansion."
- Vogue stated that many of the looks played on what she had just done in her Couture collection "fitted hips and corseted waist lines were all the core of her collection"
- This dress was shown with a wide heavy belt on the runway and I actually think it is better without one.
- The dress is made out of a soft sueded feeling bias cut silk with extensive seamwork. Top stitching details the seams and the entire back panel of the dress, all a heavy nod to the 1920s and 1930s.
- At the front the dress comes down into a V and I love how the seam extends out from that V and falls on an angle to the side of the waist. The bias cut allows the dress to skim loosely over you in the most perfect way.
- When the dress is worn without a belt it has shaped from how the back is constructed but has a more skimming and easy feel as it falls over the waist. More of the seamwork defines the angle panels that create the dress from under the bust to past the hips.
- The dress curves out and over the hips and then it is brought in slightly by the final angled seam set just above the lower skirts.
- The skirt is phenomenal. It widens out substantially and on one side there is a curved inset panel that adds even more volume. This gives it tremendous movement and volume when you move.
- The back panel is phenomenal. This is where the dress really stands out. The sides of the front curve around and down into the low back and then the shaped panel falls over your back and into the top of the hip.
- The panel is extensively top stitched which adds structure and shape to it. It is incredibly sexy.
- I think this dress is absolutely phenomenal.
- The dress is fully lined in a second, fully stitched inner layer of the same silk and it backs the entire dress. It closes with a hidden set zipper that runs along a side seam at the back. Some small areas here in there in the fabric have faded slightly. This gives it a slightly antique feel. I see a very faint mark on the back hip near the side and some slight loosening of the stitches in one spot. Please see the photos after the label. It is perfectly wearable as is and priced accordingly.

Fall 2003 Gucci by Tom Ford Runway Look 10 Stretch Silk Dress + Black Corset Waist Cincher Belt
I Have a Question
- The twin of this set was Look 10 on the Fall 2003 runway.
- It was made under the creative direction of Tom Ford.
- We have included runway photos and video for you to see how beautifully this moves once on the body. In Vogue's review of the show they said that "This season every major designer is talking about creating a "beauty" strong enough to defy our anxious times. Backstage that was the word Tom Ford used to characterize his Fall collection for Gucci—a collection in which beauty was personified as a power vixen extravagantly armoured to face down a troubled world" The evening pieces were mentioned specifically "For evening, there were gowns constructed with cutout zones of sparkling mesh and frilled bra tops; others snaked to the floor, held in place with complex asymmetric straps crossing the torso and shoulders. If Ford is treading the territory mapped out by Thierry Mugler and Azzedine Alaïa in the ’80s, it’s no surprise. Much of fashion is heading in that direction >anyway, and Ford, after all, bases Gucci’s entire brand proposition on finding new ways of upping the ante on sex season after season."
- This is a dress from one of the most incredible eras of Gucci.
- I love that this dress is the twin of the colour chosen to walk the runway and that it has it's corset belt. The belts were sold separately but this listing is for both pieces together.
- My client who is the original owner, verified that this colour of dress was only sold in a limited amount of Gucci shops and that they were produced in lower quantities, making it a more rare find. These usually do not have the matching corset belt since it was sold separately or they are in the all black colour that was sold and produced in greater quantities for retail.
- The dress is made out of a silk blend that allows the silk to stretch and give.
- The fabric is as light as air and that incredible stretch allows it to conform to your every curve and helps to create curves.
- The neckline is meant to sit lower on the chest and it sits wide across the front. You can see that on the runway.
- The sleeves are long and simple so that the seaming detail on the dress can stand out. The silk is gathered up and over the edge of the neckline in soft folds and then below that is the incredible seaming that shapes the dress around the body.
- The seam work that he did for his time at Gucci was an integral part of his design philosophy. The seaming acted like embellishments, shaping the pieces and giving them added detailing.
- The waist is seamed and it curves down and over the hips with insets there to hold and emphasize the shape.
- The skirt falls under that, following the curve of the body with just a slight flare out at the back hem. At the back the seaming curves around from that waist area and curves underneath your bottom. The silk is gathered in along those curved seams to create ruching and there is a panel built inside where they meet just above the hem to give added structure and support.
- The corset goes over top of that and it is made out of a thick stretch fabric that has an almost neoprene feel to it. It velcros into place at the front and then straps wrap around you and buckle into place to cinch you in.
- This is a true stand out piece from Tom Ford's reign at Gucci and it is also incredibly sexy.
- Unlined and closes at the back with a hidden set zipper. The belt has Velcro at the front and then buckles to close over that. Both pieces appear to have been worn very little if at all. The dress has its inner fabric tag with the Gucci name on it only. The fabric does have stretch and the measurements below are the comfortable range laying flat.
- The belt is tagged a size 40.
- Excellent condition.

Incredible Fall 2010 Gucci by Frida Giannini Runway Look 45 Strapless Dress Covered w Pailettes & Matching Capelet
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress walk the runway for the Fall 2010 collection for Look 45.
- It was made under the creative direction of Frida Giannini.
- This was one of a series of evening pieces done for the finale of the show and was one of the best of those final looks. I am very glad that we have the runway photos so that you can see how this will properly fit on the body once on.
- The dress is strapless and there is a band made out of a chocolate suede that runs around the top of the bodice. Inside there is light boning to and structure and help to hold the dress properly in place.
- It skims over the bust and is shaped slightly inwards at the waist and then curves back out over the hips. It falls to just above the knee depending on your height.
- The dress can be worn on its own or you can wear the matching little shoulder capelet feeling piece that comes with the dress. My dress form is cut slightly shorter through the body so the bottom edge of the shoulder piece is coming to the top of the dress. Depending on your height and build it will either sit the same or sit above the top to leave a strip of bare skin showing like you see in the runway photos.
- The base is a deeper brown and then that has thousands of iridescent sequin pailettes attached in little clusters over the entire dress. These are in different sizes and the smaller ones are attached top bottom to the dress and then the longer pieces are attached at their tops only so they have this incredible movement and slight sound when you move.
- The shoulder piece is made out of two layers of black silk net. It has more of the same iridescent pailettes attached to it. The ones on this piece have a more clear undertone, whereas the ones on the dress have a slightly brown undertone. The slightly different colour and transparency of the base fabric gives the capelet a touch of a contrasting colour to the dress.
- The shoulder piece snaps to close at the back and has little built in openings for your arms to fit through so that it stays perfectly in place once on. I also love that you could where these as a set as shown on the runway or mix and match with other things in your wardrobe.
- The dress is fully lined in light brown silk. The inner corset piece that is lightly boned has its own zipper and then a second zipper sits over that to close the dress. Part of the back goes over the zipper and snaps into place. It sat down slightly from the top edge of the dress, so you see a bit of the under part of the dress. This is a detail that was done purposefully. The shoulder piece snaps to close at the back with hidden set snaps. Perhaps the occasional sequin missing but no overly bare spots and the pattern does have open spots purposely built into it. The original tags are attached and it was never worn.

alexander mcqueen
Exceptional Fall 2002 Alexander McQueen Runway Look 44 Corset Mini Dress w Leather Details
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress was Look 44 for the Fall 2002 McQueen show that was title Supercalifragilistic-Expialidocious, taken from Mary Poppins.
- It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen
- Vogue noted the 'Milkmaid necklines—far from innocent-were pushed up by leather bodices that curved down into the tightest pencil skirts, and finished off with thigh-high leather boots. McQueen moved from that Helmut Newton-esque fantasy to another—bad schoolgirls, who mixed lingerie and silver lamé ties and skirts in with their proper blazers and duffels. For a splendid finale, he brought out romantic flouncy skirts'
- This is a very rare piece of McQueen and it is just exceptional. It is an absolutely iconic collectors piece.
- The top is a top-stitched formed and shaped corset that has inner boning and made to be shaped around the body. It is constructed from several shaped and formed pieces of what looks to be like a black denim that is top stitched and then pieced together to shape and create the form around the body.
- It closes down the front with metal lingerie hooks and then it has a belt through which a leather belt goes around the waist. That sense of leather is picked up again in the straps. The straps are very clever and they can be removed if you wish to wear this as a strapless piece. They button into place and the buttons are metal with the Q and C made as part of the button. A ruffled and pleated cotton bit comes out at the sides and the ruffled lace across the top of the neckline. This is done to help keep the illusion that you have put a corset over a little cotton mini.
- This illusion continues with the skirt coming out from underneath the corset. It is attached all inside the corset and is made out of two layers of cotton with lace finishing the bottom. This has all been pleated so you get this fantastic movement.
- It is ultralight in weight and it is a truly phenomenal piece of McQueen.
- The inside front of the skirt is elastic so you just slip this dress on and then hook it down the front to wear. I see a tiny little bit of fading to the dye near a couple edges of the seam of the skirt, but with McQueen pieces, these little flaws were often intentional and it certainly does not distract from the dress whatsoever. Some of the leather has rubbed off a touch on the back side of the belt in one spot. This is very minor and it is just mentioned for accuracy

john galliano
Magical Fall 2005 John Galliano Deep Golden Coloured Bias Cut Velvet Dress w Front Knot Detail
I Have a Question
- This dress is from the Fall 2005 Galliano collection
- It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
- The dress is a little work of art that not only combines his signature bias cut but is also made from a soft bias cut velvet that drapes beautifully over the body.
- The front is cut into a V and is caught up into a twisted knot detail at the base of the V. This creates a pretty draping over the bust area as the velvet is all gathered into that knot. The seam under the bust angles down towards the sides in a nod to the seamwork of the 1920s and 30s, something you see often in Galliano's work.
- At the back that same low V is repeated so that you get a bit of skin showing there. This front and back plunge perfectly offset the sensuality of the velvet..
- From there the dress glides over the waist and curves back out over hips. It falls to the floor and widens out near the hem. With all of the fabric cut on the bias this moves beautifully around you as you move. This superb silhouette is a signature of his work and it is done beautifully on this dress.
- The colour of the velvet is this deep gold that has a slight antique feel to it. I love the way that it catches the light. Even in these photos you can see how magical the effect of that is and when it is on and you are moving it will be even better.
- The dresses that Galliano does with fabric cut on the bias are outstanding and the velvets like this one are even more so.
- The dress is unlined and has no closures. It slips over the head and then it just drapes perfectly around your curves. The bias cut will allow for range of fit so I have put the comfortable range of measurements below with the dress laying flat. The dress has lost its main Galliano tag but has its proper inside tag inside as shown. I see a tiny spot near the hem where it looks like the velvet is scuffed a touch. It is very minor and just mentioned for accuracy. Otherwise appears to have been worn very little at all.
