Spring 2010 Emilio Pucci by Peter Dundas Runway Look 24 Blue Printed Silk Chiffon & Sequin Dress

I Have A Question: Spring 2010 Emilio Pucci by Peter Dundas Runway Look 24 Blue Printed Silk Chiffon & Sequin Dress

    • The twin of this dress walked the runway for Look 24 of the Spring 2010 collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Peter Dundas.
    • I love that the runway photos and video show you just how gorgeous this is on the body and how it moves. We also found a reference photo from an editorial that really shows how much fabric has gone into making this dress.
    • In the coverage for this collection, Vogue said that Peter Dundas turned out a sizzling collection for spring summer... "it is, of course the season the house was made for having been established on jet Capri in the 1960s, but it also doesn't hurt that Donda is an avid scuba diver. The underwater universe produced some aqueous prints.. there were some gorgeous shades of blue... backstage Dundas said he wanted to work with easier and loosen up the silhouettes a bit, but there's little doubt that his Pucci girl remains a predator shark type."
    • The dress combines an ultra light-in-weight silk chiffon with sequins that cover the very upper bodice and straps.
    • The upper bodies has a racer back cut to it. The straps curved around at the front on either side of the neck and then it meets at a middle panel that leaves the sides of your back bare and exposed
    • There are many yards of a fantastic feather light silk chiffon used for the dress and it all falls from the sequin straps. It skims over the bust, opens out over the waist and hips, so that it is extremely full by the hem.
    • The print on it is exactly what Vogue described when they talked about his love for the ocean. Beautiful soft colours in blues, turquoise and pale purple mixed with a variation of a classic Pucci print swirl over the dress. It has been deliberately treated so that it has a underlying very light tie-dye effect that runs over the fabric behind the top print. It is very beautiful.
    • The front is scooped and this bit of bareness at the top perfectly balances out the fullness as the dress falls to the floor
    • The skirt has a second layer of an ivory silk chiffon underneath the top printed layer that keeps it still very light but gives it a touch of opaqueness so that it can be worn without being too transparent.
    • There is a tremendous amount of fabric in the skirt. The lightness of the silk layers have phenomenal movement around you as you move.
    • The dress is one of my favourites of all the modern pieces of Pucci that I have seen and the era that Peter Dundas was the creative director at Pucci is 100% my favourite of the modern predecessors to Emilio.
    • The sequin part of the top is backed in a black silk and then the rest of the dress is lined in a second layer of ivory silk chiffon. It zips to close at one side with a hidden set zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. The bias cut of it and easy open fit should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

Outstanding 1960s Christian Dior by Marc Bohan Demi-Couture Sky Blue Silk Bombshell Dress

I Have A Question: Outstanding 1960s Christian Dior by Marc Bohan Demi-Couture Sky Blue Silk Bombshell Dress

    • I believe this dress is from the early 1960s when Marc Bohan took over Dior. It has the Dior tag inside that would have been used in this time period. There is the possibility that it is earlier.
    • The dress is almost completely made by hand to a Demi-Couture level and has that fitted hourglass bombshell silhouette of the era.
    • It is made out of a sky blue very high end silk. The colour is slightly paler in person than how it photoed here.
    • The bodice is shaped with inner boning and stiffened netting built into the inner layers of the bust to create that defined front shaping. It has straps that curve up and over each shoulder. The straps button into place on both the front and back so you could easily remove them and wear this as a strapless dress. I love that extra versatility.
    • It is meant to be very fitted around you through the bodice and has built in infrastructure to shape and hold everything in place.
    • It nips in at the waist and there is more inner structure built-in around the top of the hips t emphasize a curved hourglass feeling coming out and over the hips.
    • The skirt comes back in below the hips slightly and then it flares out for the lower skirt. The back is cut slightly longer than the front for a beautiful little flare at the back. It is an absolute bombshell of dress.
    • The dress is fully lined in a blue silk that is all hand set. I feel like the bodice near the waist is slightly paler in colour by the teeniest little bit. It is very minor. I am being very picky and it is mentioned for accuracy. There is evidence that the front dart seams were let out a touch at some point. Please see the photo after the label shot. I see a small teeny tiny darkened mark on the front of the skirt near the knee that is extremely minor but also mention for accuracy. These are all very minor.
    • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements below

I Have A Question: Gorgeous Resort 2012 Lanvin by Aber Elbaz Ivory Lace, Silk & Silk Netting Wedding Dress

    • The twin of this dress was a part of the presentation for the Resort 2012 collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Alber Elbaz.
    • The dress is made of an ivory cotton lace with silk net edging that falls beautifully over the body. It is a dress that is easy to wear and very flattering.
    • The bodice has a soft and romantic feel as it glides over you. The shoulders are wide and curve into a shallow scoop at the front. I love how he chose to edge the neckline and openings for the arms with that little bit of silk for a pretty contrast.
    • The lace skims over the bust and is cut more generously around the waist. This helps to keep the silhouette soft and pretty. If you did want a more defined shape you could easily add a belt or silk ribbon around the waist that could be as elaborate as or simple as you wished it to be.
    • The lace skims past the waist and then the skirt is set over top of the lace of the bodice in a very deliberate way that makes the seam there a part of the design. The workmanship is exquisite where they meet and I love how the fabric of the skirt has been gathered into little ruffles that curve all the way around you.
    • From there it falls over the hips and down to the floor in a beautiful drape of lace. The fabric is light and soft and there is an additional layer of silk chiffon underneath so that it feels amazing against the skin. It is cut supermodel long in length. All of the fabric that was gathered in around the top of the hips is allowed to expand and give you the fullness of the skirt so that you get this pretty sweep of fabric around you when you move.
    • It is extremely pretty and romantic in feel.
    • The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk chiffon. It closes with an exposed bronze colour zipper at the side. It appears to have been worn very little at all.

I Have A Question: Gorgeous 2010s Lanvin Blanche by Alber Elbaz Dotted Net Plunge Dress w Rhinestone Details

    • This dress dates to the 2010s and is from the Lanvin Blanche line.
    • It was made under the creative direction Alber Elbaz.
    • The dress is made of a soft ivory dotted net mixed with lace panels that is stunning on the body. This combination of those two fabrics allow it to drape beautifully over the body and highlight your every curve in a very flattering way.
    • The bodice has a soft and romantic feel as it glides over you. The shoulders are wide and curve over and down into a V at the front. At the sides, each arm hole is also cut into a V to give the dress a pretty nod to a Grecian feel.
    • The dotted netting of the bodice is gathered into the top of the shoulders and around the waist for a pretty and soft feel.
    • A chevron patterned lace wraps around the waist. A band of prong set rhinestones tops the band. Underneath the lace there is panel that combines rhinestones and domed matte metallic beads. I love the way this adds detail around the waistline and the workmanship is exquisite.
    • From there the skirt curves out and over the hips and falls to the floor. Panels of lace are mixed in with the tiers of the dotted netting. These fall all the way down the skirt with each band getting wider and more full as it reaches the hem. The way the skirt widens as it reaches the floor allows for a pretty sweep of fabric around you as you move.
    • The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk and closes at the back with a hidden set zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
    • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
    • Excellent condition.

I Have A Question: Romantic Resort 2015 Valentino by Pierpaolo & Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri Cotton Embroidered Dress w Flower Belt

    • The twin of this dress in black was shown as Look 15 for the 2015 Resort presentation.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
    • In the Vogue review for this collection they said: "Monastic, artistocratic, modest, and even prim have been terms applied to Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli's Valentino almost since they took over in 2009."
    • l absolutely love this dress. It is well documented and it is the perfect romantic feeling dress that could also be fantastic as part of a wedding weekend.
    • The cut of the dress is very simple so that the beautiful cotton that has been embroidered and pin tucked can take centre stage. This fabric gives it a nod to the past while still feeling modern.
    • I love that it can easily have a more elegant evening feel by styling it with heels and some statement jewels and that you can wear it with or without the floral belt for a completely different look.
    • The fabric is a just lightly off-white cotton that has a touch of transparency to it. It is lined in more cotton so that it is wearable and has structure. Onto that are panels of flowers that are embroidered and cut out with embroidery around their edges. These have been placed to follow and highlight the cut of the dress. They cover the dress from shoulder to hem and this added texture gives the dress the most beautiful visual interest. It is quite stunning.
    • The neckline is cut across and the ruffle that goes all the way around the neck line sits at the top outer edge of your shoulder.
    • The bodice skims over you and the waist nips in. It comes with a pretty belt that you can wear with it, change to another belt or wear it without any, and it looks just as good.
    • I love the belt. It is made from cut out fabric flowers in a variety of colours that have been pieced together and strung onto a belt. I sometimes see this dress sold without the original belt and it is very lovely to have the full set.
    • The skirt falls from there and has a pretty fullness to it. It falls outwards to the hem and gets wider as it goes. It has very pretty movement once on.
    • The dress is fully lined in a lightweight gauze cotton and closes with a hidden set back zipper. The belt ties into place around you. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

I Have A Question: Spring 2018 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Pink Silk Organza Dress w Rhinestones & Metallic Silver Appliques

    • The dress is from the Spring 2018 Valentino collection.
    • It was made under the Creative Direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli
    • This was a red carpet favourite and its twin was seen on both Nicole Kidman and Nicky Hilton It is a beautiful example of how wonderful Pierpaolo could cut a dress.
    • Over the course of his time at Valentino Pierpaolo did several variations of these elaborate ruffled and embellished dresses in different fabrications and each is beautiful. The cut of the dress makes it easy to wear and it is very flattering once on the body. It has a beautifully feminine feel and is very striking with the addition of the ruffles. The pink is infinitely gorgeous on almost every skin tone.
    • The dress is fabulous and is even better in person than how it photoed here.
    • It is made from a pink silk organza mixed with panels of lace set in a chevron pattern that runs down the bodice and top of the skirt on both the back and the front. These fabric choices keeps it light in weight but still give it enough structure to hold that gorgeous shape that you see.
    • The neck is cut high with a band of lace running around the neck. A little ruffle of organza runs around the bottom of the collar and this sets the tone for the rest of the dress.
    • A ruffle details the top of each shoulder, the end of the cuffs, and then more ruffles are set throughout the dress and around the hem.
    • The bodice is cut to skim over you and I love the bit of play on transparency with the very top of the bodice and the sleeves with them being babe can you see if you can get them in yeah I like that a lot! I actually didn't even know that. I think that would do well. a single layer of the organza. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are long and slightly taper down to a ruffled wrist.
    • The waist is detailed with more ruffles and is cut slightly on the more generous size. This is a signature cut for him and makes the dress very easy and flattering to wear.
    • The skirt falls from there to the floor. It is wonderfully full and extremely elaborate. Chevron panels of lace detail the top portion of the skirt and then panels of organza continue down set on angles for the full length of the skirt. Every second panel of organza has a ruffle peeking out from underneath. The skirt is very wide by the time it reaches the hem and it has wonderful movement.
    • Over the entire dress is an absolutely gorgeous mix of hand set rectangular silver metallic sequins that are set vertically over the dress. These are mixed with hand set pronged rhinestones that follow the design of the dress. On the sleeves they are set in vertical rows and then throughout the dress they are set in angled rows to follow the chevron design of the lace and organza.
    • This was a special order piece and very few were made.
    • The dress is fully lined in a pink silk. It closes with a hidden back set zipper and buttons at the back of the neck. Each sleeve has a button at the wrist. It is in its original uncut length. It has its original tags attached and was never worn.

Gorgeous 1980s Oscar de la Renta Deep Fuchsia Pink Silk Strapless Silk Dress w Full Skirt

I Have A Question: Gorgeous 1980s Oscar de la Renta Deep Fuchsia Pink Silk Strapless Silk Dress w Full Skirt

    • This gorgeous ODLR dress that dates to the late 1980s maybe early 1990s.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
    • It is a classic design that is extremely wearable. You see this silhouette repeated in variations throughout his career and it is very flattering once it is on the body.
    •  The dress is made out of the perfect deep fuchsia pink silk that has a touch of a deep coral undertone. It is strapless and the neckline curves around and over the bust on a slight upwards curve. The strapless silhouette leaves your upper back bare and exposed.
    • The seamwork on the top portion of the dress has all been done vertically and this is what shapes it to hug your bodice and curve in at the waist.
    • Inside there is a full built-in corset encased in its own layer of pink silk. It is cupped, boned and shaped for support with its own zipper and hook at the waist. This is what holds the dress in place around you..
    • The skirt is spectacular. Here you see the full genius of Oscar. The skirt has a ton of volume to it that shows best when you move.
    • The skirt becomes wider and more full as it nears the hem. At the back it falls longer then the front so that you get this pretty curve from the side along with a fantastic sweep of skirts from the back.
    • The way that it is cut causes a natural inward curve at the sides. This gives it the feel of a more column shaped skirt from the front and it then curves slightly inwards and back out around you at the sides. When you move, that inward curve expands outwards to move with you so the skirt becomes fuller. It is just a beautiful silhouette and shows his skill at tailoring and cut.
    • All of the volume through the skirt is created by the addition of a separate matching underskirt that is original to the dress. It has a silk inset around the hips for a proper fit and then has matching pink tulle that falls from the waist over the hips. I love that the front tulle has less layers and fullness than the back so that it matches and highlights the design of the ski skirt. I shot it from both the back and the front so you can see the change in volume.
    • When this is on and you are walking, the effect and movement that it creates is absolutely gorgeous. It is so much better and more dramatic in person than how it looks on the dress form.
    • The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk organza. The interior corset is encased in pink silk and it closes with its own zipper at the side. A second hidden set zipper closes the dress over that. The inner corset is fully boned and cupped. An attached inner waist stay hooks to close. At some point the seams were let out a touch on at each side seam and you can see evidence of that. I have taken photos of both sides. There is some slight grubbiness around the hem here and there which is minor but mentioned for accuracy.
    • Note that if you increase the size of the underskirt, the measurements of the actual dress should accommodate a small-medium. The modern size range mark below is based mainly on the measurements of the underskirt.
    • The accompanying underskirt is tagged a vintage Oscar 8 and the dress has no size tag

Fall 1987 Bill Blass Runway Strapless Black Velvet Detailed Blue Silk Dress w Elaborate Back Bow

I Have A Question: Fall 1987 Bill Blass Runway Strapless Black Velvet Detailed Blue Silk Dress w Elaborate Back Bow

    • The twin of this dress walked the Fall 1987 Bill Blass runway.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Bill Blass.
    • I love that we found a reference photo from the runway so you can see just how fantastic this is once on.
    • This is the actual dress worn Mikey Madison to the Oscars Nominees Dinner in February and she landed on several best dressed lists as a result.
    • Bill Blass launched his label in 1970 when he bought out the Maurice Rentner label and re-launched it under his own name. Blass was arguably one of the most famous of the American designers. His forte was the ability to mix simple styles with unexpected materials in way that was very flattering to the wearer.
    • It is one of those dresses that looks amazing on the dress form but is even better on an actual person.
    • The fabric feels like art. The base is a rich blue silk and then onto this is a fantastic design made of out a black velvet. The velvet is very soft to the touch with a chenille like finish that gives the design a beautiful texture and softness.
    • The dress has the feel of an antique 18th century gown and I love this reference back to the past.
    • The top is a fitted and strapless with a band of black silk wrapping around the breasts. It falls from there to skim outward over the waist and hips, and then narrows back down to the floor as it reaches the hem. This gives the front of the dress a more long and lean feel but with a hint that something special might happen as you turn.
    • The back is the star of the show. Sitting over the top of the closure at the back is a large black velvet bow. This tops an added panel underneath that is very extravagant. The panel curves outwards and then loops back in to attach just under the hips. A second black velvet bow sits at the base of where it is attached back into the dress. A slit is hidden under the panel to give you room to walk while keeping the narrow silhouette of the hem.
    • The dress is fully lined in a black silk. It closes with a back painted metal zipper hidden under a seam and there is an inner hooked waist stay. There is light boning through the bodice. Hand work throughout. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
    • There is no size tag present, so please go by the measurements below.

Outstanding Spring 2011 Giorgio Armani Runway Look 60 & Ad Campaign Strapless Blue Sequin Dress

I Have A Question: Outstanding Spring 2011 Giorgio Armani Runway Look 60 & Ad Campaign Strapless Blue Sequin Dress

    • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2011 Armani main label collection for the Look 60.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
    • One was used for the ad campaign that year and it is just an absolutely beautiful shot.
    • This was the closing look on the runway. Having the finale look of any collection is always an extra point in collectibility
    • In Vogue's review of the collection they said "Giorgio Armani's secret weapon is focus. He'll take one idea and elaborate on it over the course of a collection. Today's focal point was the night sky over the Sahara: warm, velvety blue, scattered with stars.... Everything was navy shading towards midnight. As the show moved toward evening, sprinklings of crystal and sequins appeared to echo the heavens at night."
    • This dress is outstanding and it is pristine. In fact, it still has its original tags attached. It's original retail price was just over €13,000.
    • The bodice is strapless with a curving panel of midnight blue silk that wraps around the entire bodice splitting at the back on either side of the zipper.
    • Inside there is a built-in corset made out of lingerie stretch netting that is lightly boned, zips to close at the back and has a hook at the waist. This is what holds the dress in place around you.
    • From there, the dress falls to the floor. It curves around the bust shaped around the built in cups of the corset underneath skims over the waist and curves back out over the hips. It narrows in under the hips and then flares back out beautifully around the hem.
    • Semi transparent, blue iridescent sequence that are on the larger size are set in tightly, spaced horizontal, rose stacked on top of each other from the very top of the bodice all the way to the ham. I love how each sequin overlaps its neighbor. They are very heavily applied and their slight touch of transparency give the dress a really extra bit of luminescence as they catch the light from every angle.
    • The sequins are set on a blue chiffon that has a slight bit of stretch so this makes the dress conform to your body and allows for a little bit greater range of size. This gives the body of the dress a very slight transparency through the sequins that is fantastic. As with many of Armani pieces, the sensuality of the dress is hinted at and not completely in your face.
    • I think this might be one of my favourite Armani dresses I've ever had the pleasure of seeing in person. It is truly outstanding.
    • The dress has a full built-in boned inner corset that closes with its own zipper and hooks at the waist. The rest of the dresses unlined. It closes at the back over the inner corset with a hidden set zipper. It has its original tags attached and is pristine. The outer fabric does have some stretch so I put the comfortable range below for that as well as the inner corset.

Outstanding 1967 George Halley Couture Heavily Embroidered, Rhinestone & Applique Soft Pink Dress

I Have A Question: Outstanding 1967 George Halley Couture Heavily Embroidered, Rhinestone & Applique Soft Pink Dress

    • The twin of this dress in a different colour resides in the permanent collection of the Met Museum.
    • It was made under the creative direction of George Halley.
    • Halley was one of the great American Couturiers.
    • George Halley started his career working for Charles James who said of the young designer that he 'was a genius at draping'. By the time Halley opened his own atelier in 1966 he was well on his way to fame. He won the Coty Award in 1968 and his work is on par with true couture. He is one of my personal favourite designers.
    • Women's Wear Daily called him 'a designer in a lovely world of his own' and that is how I feel about his work.
    • This is an absolutely outstanding dress that shows the extreme level of detail that was being done with Couture pieces in this era. This would have been made entirely by hand in his Salon.
    • A pale pink silk net tops a pink silk and then this has an elaborate detailing added over its surface with 3D velvet flowers, prong set rhinestones, hand beading and faux pearls
    • Over that is a application of hand done metallic embroidery that covers the top layer of netting.
    • The front has a high empire cut with an attached velvet band around the waist. This ends in a pretty and romantic bow at the back.
    • The workmanship on the stress is spectacular and I've included a lot of close-ups for you to see. No matter how amazing you think it looks in the photos. It is better in person.
    • The dress has been completely made by hand to a Couture level.
    • It closes with a back zipper and snaps over the bow. The dress is hand lined in a pale pink silk. I see a little bit of grubbiness on the velvet sash and bow. I feel like this could be removed and replaced with the original just cap to side so that you have all of the pieces, but it would be easy to add a sash of your choice and maybe even extend it down the back. There is some very slight change in colour along some of the edges of the inner pink silk lining, some minor grubbiness along the hem and some splitting of the silk on the inner hem along the very edge at the bottom. These are all minor but mentioned for accuracy
    •  There was no size tag present, so please go buy the measurements listed below.

Spectacular Spring 2011 Lanvin by Alber Elbaz Pale Metallic Gold Silver Lame One Shoulder Dress

I Have A Question: Spectacular Spring 2011 Lanvin by Alber Elbaz Pale Metallic Gold Silver Lame One Shoulder Dress

    • This is a gorgeous dress from the Lanvin Spring 2011 collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Alber Elbaz.
    • It's twin was worn by Kate Hudson that season for the Glamour Magazine Women of the Year gala. I love that these photo show you how spectacular this dress is once on the body.
    • The dress is made of a very light in weight silk mix. The fabric is detailed with gold and silver metallic threads that give the entire dress a subtle glimmer. I love how the metallic feel is muted but it is still definitely a metallic feeling dress.
    • The mix of using both gold and silver threads let it catch the light in a different way, and it almost has a slight ballet pink tone to it. You can see that in the photos.
    • All of the edges on the dress have been left raw and this is purposeful and was one of his signatures techniques.
    • The fabric is gathered in on the side with the zipper and then it sweeps up to a wide set seam across the top of the shoulder. This drapes down over the very top of your arm in a very soft and pretty way.
    • Inside the bodice there is a full built-in corset that is lightly boned and holds the dress in place around you.
    • The fabric continues down from there to skim past the waist and hips. The lower skirt flares are quite a bit and one side falls longer for a beautiful line.
    • There is a bit of a ruffle set on the other side of the zipper towards the back of the hip and a raw edged panel runs all the way down the length of the dress on the other side.
    • The zipper is really what makes the dress. It is one of his signature exposed chunky zippers that runs down the side. What makes this one different is that it opens from the top and also from the bottom which allows you to make the slit that runs up the side as high as you dare to go.
    • It is a phenomenal example of his patterning and draping skills.
    • The dress is unlined except for that built-in corset. The corset closes with its own zipper and is lightly boned. It has an attached inner waist stay that hooks to close. The dress zips to close over that and you can open that outer zipper from both the top or the bottom as described above.
    • Tagged a Lanvin 36
    • Excellent condition and it appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Inner bust: 15-16" flat across from side seam to side seam

Incredible 1968 Sarmi Ivory Silk Net Dress w Mink Bodice & Metallic Tinsel Dot Detailing

I Have A Question: Incredible 1968 Sarmi Ivory Silk Net Dress w Mink Bodice & Metallic Tinsel Dot Detailing

    • I have included a reference photos from 1964 that shows similar versions of this dress. This dress does not have its Sarmi label, but it does have a Bergdorf's label that has the 1968 date on it. I believe it was custom ordered based on those earlier dresses.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Ferdinando Sarmi.
    • This is so thoroughly a Sarmi piece that it is quite incredible.
    • The bodice has an ivory silk base that is covered in an off-white mink fur. It has an inner built-in lightly boned bodice.
    • The skirt is made from multiple layers of a slightly stiffened ivory tulle with silk organza and silk layers set in under that.
    • Onto the very top layer of the skirt are little various size dots made of eyelash tinsel in metallic silver, gold, blue and green. These sparkle from every angle and it is quite incredible.
    • It has an empire feel with a large ivory silk, wide ribbon, tied into a bow at the front for a pretty detail.
    • The sleeves are just stitched onto the the top so I think you could easily remove them if you prefer this as a strapless.
    • It is completely made by hand throughout to Demi Couture level.
    • The dress is lined in ivory through the bottom and the layers of the skirt as described above act as the lining period it closes with a back zipper. There may be a tiny area here in there around the edges where the man has lifted just a touch, but it is very minor.
    • There is no size tag present because it was almost certainly made to order so please go by the measurements listed below.
    • Excellent condition

I have a small collection of historically important, key designer labelled vintage furs and fur trimmed pieces stored away in my archives that I will be slowly posting on the site over the next couple of years until I have none left. I will no longer be buying furs for the shop moving forward and have not purchased anything for several years now. I feel like times have changed and while there still is a place for vintage furs for some, including collectors and historians, many modern girls are choosing other options. Many of the pieces in my collection are representative of the designer during a set time period in history that was different then our modern outlook. I have decided that the best course to handle this controversial issue is to let the pieces I have go rather then sit in a cold storage unit. Fur pieces are final sale.

Spring 1987 Yves Saint Laurent Strapless Dotted Silk Net Dress w Rhinestone Detail & Full Lower Skirts

I Have A Question: Spring 1987 Yves Saint Laurent Strapless Dotted Silk Net Dress w Rhinestone Detail & Full Lower Skirts

    • This dress is a version of a series of dresses that Yves sent down the runway for the Spring 1987 collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
    • I have included reference photos of similar dresses used for the ad campaign and shown on the runway so that you can get an idea of how great this dress will be on the body.
    • The 1987 collection is one of my all time favourites and I am very pleased to have this wonderful example from it in the shop.
    • The dress is made from a black silk base with a layer of dotted black silk netting applied over the bodice in horizontal bands. This choice in fabric gives the dress its structure and shape so that it holds the shape around you once on.
    • The bodice is strapless and cut on a soft curve across the neckline. It is lightly boned on the inside to hold the dress perfectly in place. It curves in over the waist and then curves back out over the hips. From there the lower skirts flare outwards to the hem.
    • The lower skirt is quite full and makes an incredible statement. It has a fishnet style lace for its top layer. Under that is a layer of dotted lace to subtly tie in the lace of the bodice. Under those layers two more layers of the fishnet lace to give it its incredible fullness.
    • On the bodice the lace is separated by five wide bands made out of a black silk ribbon that give a beautiful and rich feel to the dress. I love the contrast between the texture of the silk and the dotted netting.
    • Each ribbon is stacked to run from the very top of the bodice to the lowest seam above the skirt. Each ribbon is gathered into a little folded bow and has a round metal circle attached that is finished with  glossy black glass rhinestones. There are five of those big jewelled pieces in total and they add the perfect amount of glitz to the dress. The combination of the silk ribbon, the dotted lace, the jewelled circles and that stunning full lower skirt is just gorgeous to see and it is even better on the body.
    • The dress fully lined in a crisp black cotton and closes with a side set zipper. The inner bodice is lightly boned and shaped. I see some minor repairs in the netting of the skirt. You only see them if you are looking for them because of the amount of fabric in the skirt and the black layers. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Incredible Fall 1998 Guy Laroche by Alber Elbaz Runway Black Jersey Reissue of the Mireille Darc Backless Dress

I Have A Question: Incredible Fall 1998 Guy Laroche by Alber Elbaz Runway Black Jersey Reissue of the Mireille Darc Backless Dress

    • The twin of the dress walked the runway for the Fall 1998 Guy Laroche collection
    • It was made under the creative direction of Alber Elbaz.
    • Alber was at Laroche from 1996 to 1998. The final collection that he designed was the Spring 1999 show and then he moved to YSL Rive Gauche directly after.
    • This dress is an obvious take / reissue on the famous 1972 Laroche designed by Guy and worn by Mireille Darc in the film 'The Tall Blond Man With One Black Shoe'.
    • The dress is made out of a soft black jersey that is a mix of wool and silk. This makes it extremely comfortable to wear. It also gives it a slight touch of modernity from the original.
    • Like the original it has that deeply plunging and open back. The opening on this version goes right to the top of the neck instead of closing at the back of the neck like the original.
    • The front neck is scooped and sits high up on the neck. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are long. I love how he added a flared cuff to the ends of each sleeve instead of keeping them tight and fitted. It gives the dress a slightly more fluid feel.
    • It skim over the bust and waist with simple darts, adding shape around the bust area. The jersey makes it very easy to fit because it has some stretch.
    • From there it curves back out over the hip and falls to the floor. The bottom flares out quite a bit to pick up on the flare of the sleeves. There is an inset triangle of panel at the back to give it more flare.
    • The back is fully open and the scoop is deep. This is intentional and meant to have that same shocking effect that the original dress had. Even knowing of the original dress, it still felt shocking when it was seen on the runway. I don't think it's quite as deep as the runway version but it's really dependent on your height and length of your torso. I have provided the measurement from the neck to the base of the scoop below.
    • This is an incredibly rare dress and you may not see one again. I love the double dose of fashion history that this one has with the tie in with the original, as well as being an early piece of Alber's work, plus the documentation on the runway. A collectors dream.
    • The dress is unlined and slips on to wear with no closures. The black jersey has some stretch and I have put the comfortable range of measurements below. Its easy fit and stretch should allow it to fit a range of sizes. It appears to have been worn very little, if at all.

Spring 1987 Yves Saint Laurent Numbered Haute Couture Strapless Black Handmade Lace Dress

I Have A Question: Spring 1987 Yves Saint Laurent Numbered Haute Couture Strapless Black Handmade Lace Dress

    • This amazing dress is from the Spring 1987 Haute Couture collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
    • The dress would have been made completely by hand in the Paris atelier.
    • The dress is made from a hand made black French corded lace and this choice in fabric gives the dress its structure and shape. This is mixed with silk satin details across the top of the bottom, around the hip, and finishing the hem.
    • The bodice is strapless and is cut to curve across the front. Inside there is a full separate couture level corset that is boned and shaped to hold the dress perfectly in place around you.
    • It curves in to skim over the waist and then it curves back out and over the hips. Just under the hips is an attached black silk ribbon that wraps around you and ties in a bow at the front.
    • The skirt falls underneath the ribbon detailing and down to the floor. It widens out quite a bit around you for lovely movement when you move. The skirt is cut slightly longer at the back and has extra fabric for a bit of a sweeping feel behind you.
    • I love how there is a matching dip at the back of the bodice that picks up on the shape of the extended back skirt. This is all done to add the illusion of length.
    • As with all couture pieces, and Yves' especially, they only truly come to life once on the body. This dress looks so simple and easy but it is really a bit of an understated masterpiece in person.
    • The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a side set zipper. The inner corset closes with its own zipper. The corset is lightly boned through the bodice and shaped. An inner waist stay hooks to close.
    • There is no size tag present since it is Haute Couture so please go by the measurements list listed below.

Very Rare Spring 2007 Roberto Cavalli Green Pleated Silk Chiffon Dress w Open Back & Sides

I Have A Question: Very Rare Spring 2007 Roberto Cavalli Green Pleated Silk Chiffon Dress w Open Back & Sides

    • This dress is from the Spring 2007 collection and it is a version of the blue dress that walk the runway for look 14.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli.
    • Rihanna wore its twin to the 2007 Grammys which is an amazing reference for you to be able to see what this looks like on the body.
    • It is absolutely beautiful with its intricate pleating that runs over the entire dress. I love how the pleats are set in different directions to pick up on and highlight the cut of the dress.
    • It is made out of a light silk chiffon done in the prettiest soft green colour. It feels more of a pastel green in person than how it shot here.
    • The front panel is set to run across the body with all of the pleating done on an angle to follow the line of the neck line and of the bottom of the panel that wraps around the waist. Where your arm slips through there is a wide band of green silk that circles over the shoulder and around the arm.
    • A second panel extends out from the side of the waist and curves across the back to meet the opening for the arm. This leaves large portions of bare skin showing all the way down one side and above and below the panel of the back. It is very sexy.
    • The skirt and waist have a band of the same solid green used around the arm. The band is meant to sit a bit low slung on the hip and you can see that in the photos of Rihanna on the red carpet. If you wear it higher up the top will blouse over more.
    • There is a light line of tiny stitching that runs across the lower part of the front of the bodice. This is done so the silk doesn't sit way off the body if you chose to wear the waistline up higher and it blouses over. It is a brilliantly thought out technical detail.
    • There is an incredible amount of fabric in the skirt and the long vertical pleats help it to flare out. The lightness of the silk chiffon combined with the bounce of the pleat creates amazing movement when you walk.
    • The bodice is lined in a green silk and there is a built-in bottom part of a bodysuit that sits just inside and under the waist band. It hooks to close and helps hold the dress in place. The skirt is lined in a matching green silk chiffon. It closes with a hidden set back zipper and you just slip your arm through the circle at the side of the top.

Documented Fall 1987 Arnold Scaasi Black Strapess Velvet & Green Silk Full Skirt Silk Dress

I Have A Question: Documented Fall 1987 Arnold Scaasi Black Strapess Velvet & Green Silk Full Skirt Silk Dress

    • The sleeved version of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1987 collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Arnold Scassi.
    • Scaasi launched  his boutique line in 1984 and it was high end ready-to-wear and very expensive. He was born Arnold Isaacs in Montreal and the name Scassi is simply his own surname in reverse. He studied in Montreal and in Paris, apprenticed at the house of Paquin and then worked with the legendary Charles James. In 1964 he opened own couture salon.
    •  It is very rare to find documentation of his work from this time period and I love having it so that you can see how amazing it is on. I think this strapless one is even better then the runway version.
    • You can easily see the influence of Arnold having worked for Charles James in this piece. The lines are dramatic and yet elegant.
    • The dress is strapless and the top portion of the dress is made from an inky black velvet. It is dramatically shaped at the front with wired peaks and a V plunge at the front.
    • It nips in at the waist and then angles down from one side low on the hip on the other. On the side that sits higher up there is a large bow detail that gives the effect of holding all the gathers of the skirt in place.
    • The skirt is set under that and the long angling seam on the opposite hip adds visual length to the dress as it extends down and into a deep point. The skirt is quite full and the shape and volume that you see is held by the inner construction.
    • Layers of tulle netting set underneath the outermost layer of silk. The green of the skirt is a true brilliant emerald. This unexpected shock of colour is fantastic.
    • The dress is fully lined in a green silky rayon. The bodice is lightly boned and it closes with a hidden set side zipper. Built in stiff tulle under skirts and the skirt is interlined in a green organza.
    • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
    • Excellent condition

Outstanding Fall 2001 Versace by Donatella Versace Runway Look 54 Green Silk Bias Cut Dress

I Have A Question: Outstanding Fall 2001 Versace by Donatella Versace Runway Look 54 Green Silk Bias Cut Dress

    • The twin of this dress walked the runway as Look 54 for the Fall 2001 Versace show.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Donatella Versace.
    • In the show notes, Donatella said "above all a woman must dress to please herself". In the book Versace Catwalk they noted that the collection "evoked a hedonistic pop culture moment – late 1970s? Early 1980s? – that was picked up throughout the collection and expanded upon by Steven Mizell when he photographed the advertising campaign in the Playboy mansion."
    • Vogue stated that many of the looks played on what she had just done in her Couture collection "fitted hips and corseted waist lines were all the core of her collection"
    • This dress was shown with a wide heavy belt on the runway and I actually think it is better without one.
    • The dress is made out of a soft sueded feeling bias cut silk with extensive seamwork. Top stitching details the seams and the entire back panel of the dress, all a heavy nod to the 1920s and 1930s.
    • At the front the dress comes down into a V and I love how the seam extends out from that V and falls on an angle to the side of the waist. The bias cut allows the dress to skim loosely over you in the most perfect way.
    • When the dress is worn without a belt it has shaped from how the back is constructed but has a more skimming and easy feel as it falls over the waist. More of the seamwork defines the angle panels that create the dress from under the bust to past the hips.
    • The dress curves out and over the hips and then it is brought in slightly by the final angled seam set just above the lower skirts.
    • The skirt is phenomenal. It widens out substantially and on one side there is a curved inset panel that adds even more volume. This gives it tremendous movement and volume when you move.
    • The back panel is phenomenal. This is where the dress really stands out. The sides of the front curve around and down into the low back and then the shaped panel falls over your back and into the top of the hip.
    • The panel is extensively top stitched which adds structure and shape to it. It is incredibly sexy.
    • I think this dress is absolutely phenomenal.
    • The dress is fully lined in a second, fully stitched inner layer of the same silk and it backs the entire dress. It closes with a hidden set zipper that runs along a side seam at the back. Some small areas here in there in the fabric have faded slightly. This gives it a slightly antique feel. I see a very faint mark on the back hip near the side and some slight loosening of the stitches in one spot. Please see the photos after the label. It is perfectly wearable as is and priced accordingly.

I Have A Question: Prettiest Fall 2015 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri White Lace & Net Dress

    • This dress is from the Fall 2015 collection and you can see it's references in the photos that we have included here from the ready-to-wear show.
    • In 2015 both Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli were the acting creative directors for Valentino.
    • The neckline is high and comes up in a neat collar around the neck. There is a single layer of the netting that runs across the front and back upper bodice.
    • The sleeves are net and have an added dot and suggestion of a vertical stripe worked into the netting. They are made of a double layer of the tulle and each sleeve is slightly puffed above its end.
    • The top of the bodice is cut straight across and that continues around to the back. The bodice is has a n overlaid panel of the same netting used for the sleeves. The panel hangs over a lace trimmed and dot netting layer that is stacked over an inner silk. It skims over you to the waist which is cut on the more generous side.
    • The skirt falls from there to the floor and it is made up of five more tiers of the dotted netting. Each panel that runs over the skirt has an additional layer of lace attached to the tulle for added detail. It is the same lace that was used underneath the panel on the bodice.
    • Each tier slightly overlaps the one below it and this gives the skirt a beautiful soft and romantic feel. It also gives you a really pretty line as it widens out as it near the hem.
    • When you move all of the layers softly move around you. It is very beautiful.
    • The dress is fully lined in ivory chiffon and closes with a back hidden set zipper. It still has its original tags attached and was never worn.

I Have A Question: 2012 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri Tiered Ivory Lace Net Dress w Sequin & Bead Detailing

    • This dress is from the Fall 2012 Valentino collection
    • At this time both Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli were acting Creative Directors.
    • On the runway it is clearly a take off on look 51 and the included reference photo gives you an idea of how this spits on the body.
    • This is the second time I have had this dress in the shop and the first time I had it, a girl who bought its twin let me know that the original retail on this dress was over $20,000.
    • The base fabric of the dress is a fine silk tulle netting that has panels of lace laid over it that run in horizontal rows down the length of the dress.
    • The collar is set wide and is trimmed with two layers of silk chiffon. The upper bodice and sleeves are made from a netting that has little dots of embroidery mixed with beads.
    • This same beaded technique is used on the double ruffled hem that circles the lower skirt. The dress is meant to skim over you and widen out as it nears the hem.
    • The back skirt falls slightly longer than the front and there is a bit of extra fabric at the back so you get a soft sweeping of fabric behind you.
    • The body of the dress is completely covered with alternating layers of the lace mixed with tiny little rows of ivory iridescent sequins. These are all set horizontally and wrap around the entire dress. The top layer of the dress has a transparent quality to it and to make the dress wearable it is then lined in three layers of ivory silk chiffon. It is absolute beautiful.
    • Fully lined in three layers of silk chiffon. It has an inner corset that zips to close and an outer hidden side zipper. Each cuff zips to close. It appears to have never been worn.
    • There is no size type present so please go buy the measurements listed below.
    • Excellent condition

Magical Fall 2005 John Galliano Deep Golden Coloured Bias Cut Velvet Dress w Front Knot Detail

I Have A Question: Magical Fall 2005 John Galliano Deep Golden Coloured Bias Cut Velvet Dress w Front Knot Detail

    • This dress is from the Fall 2005 Galliano collection
    • It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
    • The dress is a little work of art that not only combines his signature bias cut but is also made from a soft bias cut velvet that drapes beautifully over the body.
    • The front is cut into a V and is caught up into a twisted knot detail at the base of the V. This creates a pretty draping over the bust area as the velvet is all gathered into that knot. The seam under the bust angles down towards the sides in a nod to the seamwork of the 1920s and 30s, something you see often in Galliano's work.
    • At the back that same low V is repeated so that you get a bit of skin showing there. This front and back plunge perfectly offset the sensuality of the velvet..
    • From there the dress glides over the waist and curves back out over hips. It falls to the floor and widens out near the hem. With all of the fabric cut on the bias this moves beautifully around you as you move. This superb silhouette is a signature of his work and it is done beautifully on this dress.
    • The colour of the velvet is this deep gold that has a slight antique feel to it. I love the way that it catches the light. Even in these photos you can see how magical the effect of that is and when it is on and you are moving it will be even better.
    • The dresses that Galliano does with fabric cut on the bias are outstanding and the velvets like this one are even more so.
    • The dress is unlined and has no closures. It slips over the head and then it just drapes perfectly around your curves. The bias cut will allow for range of fit so I have put the comfortable range of measurements below with the dress laying flat. The dress has lost its main Galliano tag but has its proper inside tag inside as shown. I see a tiny spot near the hem where it looks like the velvet is scuffed a touch. It is very minor and just mentioned for accuracy. Otherwise appears to have been worn very little at all.

    I Have a Question

Ultra Rare 1990s Paco Rabanne Haute Couture Metallic Silver & Coral Dress w Chainlink Top & Headpiece

I Have A Question: Ultra Rare 1990s Paco Rabanne Haute Couture Metallic Silver & Coral Dress w Chainlink Top & Headpiece

    • This is a very rare Paco Rabanne Haute Couture set from the 1990s, maybe 2000s.
    • It was made under the creative direction of the original Paco Rabanne.
    • This is a very rare collector piece and is almost certainly the only one in existence. It most likely was a runway piece but it is very challenging to find runway documentation for his Couture shows from this time period. If we do come across it at some point, we will certainly send it to its new owner.
    • The set is made up of three separate pieces and you can wear them individually or together.
    • The inner dress is strapless and widens out substantially around the body as it falls, outward and down to the hem. The back is cut longer than the front so you get a fantastic swoop of fabric behind you as you walk.
    • Inside, there is a built-in inner bodice to hold the dress in place. This is the only thing holding the dress in place since the fabric that lays over the inner bodice is cut to be extremely open and full as it falls down to the hem.
    • The inner fabric of this piece is foiled silver fabric that has an black woven net with an orange woven applique set into the netting so that it that forms an organic pattern. This unique and innovative fabric is used for the entire dress part of the set. The fabric innovation that he was doing for his Couture shows really highlights how far he was pushing the envelope and how purely experimental his creations were.
    • Slipping over the dress is a one of his signature chain-link pieces. It has a part cape / part top feel to it. It combines plastic silver links that have a rhinestone in each of their centres, with round circle loops that are hooked together, plus little orange plastic and gold pieces. All the pieces are hand linked together in a nod to his traditional metal chain link. The top drapes down over the bodice with an upwards curve at the front. At the back, it extends far longer to well past the small of the back, ending in a point that perfectly picks up on the shape of the back skirt.
    • Each sleeve of the piece has been made to be very full and wide. They flare outwards at their ends and have an edging made out of with strands of the same pieces as the body of the top with an added little oval shape at their ends.
    • The original hooded head piece complete the set. It is extremely rare to have the headpieces included. These were almost always made for the runway show only and is the biggest clue that this was most likely the actual sample piece. The little handwritten tag that says 49 that is attached under the label was probably the order number in the show, giving us the second clue.
    • This incredible little headpiece simply slips over the head and is long enough that it covers the neck. All of the edges are finished with the same dangling embellishments you see edges of the on the top. An opening at the front allows your face to peak out but you are otherwise covered over your entire head. The beads are then all gathered into a 'knot" at the top. Once in place it gives the illusion that the headpiece and cap piece are all a singular piece of chain-link over you. It is incredible.
    • The dress is completely made by hand and I believe that this is the original sample runway sample dress. Under the tag is a handmade tag that says 49 and I believe that is the Look number that would've been shown on the runway. The edges are all handed basted and this adds to the feel that this is the original sample because that is often how you see runway samples finished from this era.
    • The dress has a built-in inner corset and this is what holds the dress in place around you. This inner bodice is lightly boned and has built in cups and meant to be fitted. Because of the excessive drape of the exterior dress you would be able to add and increase the size of the inner corset and you would never see any changes on exterior nor would it have any effect. That inner piece zips to close at the back and there is an attached waist stay that hooks to close. The dress closes with a series of snaps over that. There are dappled markings on a silver interior that show through to and under the netting. I believe this is all intentional as it is evenly distributed over the fabric on the silver parts of the fabric. There are some small pulls and stressing to the netting here and there.
    • There is no size tag present because it is Haute Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.
    • Excellent condition

Inner bust: 15-16" flat across from side seam to side seam
Inner waist: 11.5-12" flat across from side seam to side seam
    Hips: open
Total length: 54" from top of bodice to the front hem and the back extends another 8" past that, with 1" turned under the entire hem.

Modern Sizing Equivalent: XS-SML based on the interior corset only. The rest of the pieces are more accommodating to a greater range of sizes. Please read the notes above.

I Have A Question: Spectacular Spring 2000 Thierry Mugler Runway Nude Chiffon One Shoulder Dress w Acrylic Detail

    • The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2000 runway and I am very happy to have video reference so you can see just how beautifully it moves.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Thierry Mugler
    • The dress is made out of a nude chiffon that is perhaps a touch paler than how it photoed here.
    • The dress is cut with Mugler's masterful eye and attention to detail.
    • It is suspended from one shoulder and the other is left bare and exposed. All the seaming on the dress is set vertically so that it enhances and highlights the curves of the body.
    • The bust and waist are created by the shaping of those beautifully curving vertical seams.
    • It skims over the hips and then falls to the floor with a slight widening out as it nears the hem. The hem is cut on a slight angle so that the side that has the shoulder is cut a little bit longer than the other.
    • The shoulder is detailed with a panel of fabric that you can sweep behind you for a bit of extra movement when you move.
    • At the very top of the shoulder is an extra large custom made piece made out of an acrylic that has pale green rhinestones embedded in it to follow its curves.  I love that little detail. These would have been custom-made for each dress.
    • The very outer layer of the chiffon is split quite high along the edge at the back and this adds incredible movement to the dress as you can see on the runway. You are still fully covered by the inner dress underneath.
    • It is an extraordinary dress that is both rare and very beautiful.
    • The dress is fully lined in the same fabric and closes with a hidden set side zipper. I see one tiny catch in fabric near the seam just above the hem. It is very minor and only mentioned for accuracy. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Spectacular Spring 2020 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Neon Orange Tent Dress w Outstanding Capped Sleeves

I Have A Question: Spectacular Spring 2020 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Neon Orange Tent Dress w Outstanding Capped Sleeves

    • The dress is from the Spring 2020 collection and its twin walk the runway for Look 76.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli.
    • This was one of the most heavily documented dresses of the collection and there is an outstanding number of references as it was shot and photoed everywhere. This dress was sold out and wait-listed worldwide. Very few were produced.
    • Vogue said that the show felt like "a long gulp of fresh air and optimism centred on something known." They noted that "in technical terms Piccoli's aim for spring was casualizing the voluminous couture silhouettes he had established over the past few staggeringly well received seasons... The collection was joyful, touched on a myriad of occasions and lifted hearts." It ended with a standing ovation.
    • I love the bright almost neon feeling orange that the dress has been done in. It is incredibly difficult to capture the actual colour in a photo and I think it is even better in person.
    • The dress is made out of an almost parachute feeling fabric that holds its shape fantastically. This combined with the brilliant seaming and cut is what gives the dress its exuberant volume and shape.
    • Both the front and back are deeply plunged and everything is kept perfectly in place on the body by the way that it is all cut and by taking into account all of the weight and fall of the fabric below. It is quite ingenious.
    • Circling all the way around the arms from the top of the shoulder to the seam under the bust are the incredible sleeves that are made from the same fabric. The fabric has been folded over and onto itself to create a double layer. This is what gives them their volume and airy feel. I love that we have so many photos of this dress on so many different people so you can see how spectacular it all sits. They attach in just under the arm and after curving up and around the shoulder they attach down the back. It is almost like a stylized angel wing in the best possible sense of that idea.
    • The waist has a generous cut and it is meant to feel more loose and easy. It is really a piece that is easy to fit and should fit a range of sizes. If you are smaller the waist is just going to drape down and off the lower back a touch.
    • The cut and expanse of the skirt keeps everything in place so even though it has a plunge at the front and back it still feels safe to wear. I love the bare expanse of skin that shows at the back.
    • The skirt is spectacular. It falls from underneath the seam of the bust in four tiers. Each tier gets progressively wider as it near the hem and the very lowest tier falls out and behind you for a dramatic sweep of fabric. The silk of each tier is gathered into the seam above and below it and this also helps to add to the volume.
    • The amount of fabric in the skirt and the lightness of the fabric is what lets it billow and move around you in the most spectacular way. And it has pockets.
    • This is an absolutely stunning example of his time at the label and it is a very collectible piece.
    • The front triangles are backed with another layer of the same fabric and the skirt is unlined. It closes with a hidden set side zipper.

I Have A Question: Striking Resort 2019 Alex Perry "Abigail" Brilliant Orange Full Length Capes Sleeve Dress w Open Back

    • The twin of this dress in black was presented for the Resort 2019 Alex Perry collection.
    • It was made under the creative Direction of Alex Perry.
    • Alexandros Pertsinidis is an Australian fashion designer who launched the Alex Perry label in 1992. His work has been featured on numerous the covers worldwide since then and is a favorite on the red carpet. It's been worn by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Rita Ora, Katy Perry, Lupita Nyong and countless others.
    • The twin of this dress was seen on the red carpet on Britt Lower and Dina Amer.
    • The dress does not have a single unnecessary seam. It really shows how sometimes absolute minimalism is best.
    • The dress is made from a combination of a brilliant orange crepe through the body with a matte satin crepe for those incredible sleeves. The fabric choice has a beautiful drape. This is what lets it move so beautifully over the body once it is on.
    • It is constructed so that it drapes and skims over the body perfectly. The skirt falls to the floor in a sweeping expanse of fabric. When you stand still it looks more like a sleek column but when you move you realize how much fabric is in there as it billows out behind you.
    • The bodice drapes softly over you at the front and the shoulders are padded inside so that they have a defined and shaped silhouette. Caped sleeves fall all the way to the floor to create this elegant and dramatic feeling over your arms.
    • The fabric has enough weight that it stays in place when you are standing still but when you move you get a billowing effect around you.
    • The waist has a touch of stretch so the dress is easy to fit and should work on a range of sizes.
    • At the back there is a full cut out that leaves your entire back bare. This unexpected expanse of skin when you turn around is amazing.
    • The inner part of the front bodice is lined in an orange matte satin with extra define seaming to help shape the bodice. The skirt has an inner underlay skirt in the same fabric and the sleeves are unlined. It closes with a hidden set zipper at the back waist and buttons at the back of the neck.  It comes with its original hang tag attached and was never worn.

Sexiest 1990s Gianni Versace Chartreuse Stretch Dress w Exposed Waist Side Cut Out & High Slit

I Have A Question: Sexiest 1990s Gianni Versace Chartreuse Stretch Dress w Exposed Waist Side Cut Out & High Slit

    • This is a fabulous dress from the late 1990s Versace.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Gianni Versace.
    • The dress is very sexy with its cut out and made of a stretch fabric that hugs and shapes the body. All signatures of Versace from this time period.
    • The colour is a bright chartreuse that is just an exceptional and unusual colour.
    • There is light padding in each shoulder and this holds the dress and gives it a tapered feel to the waist.
    • It skims over the body and then is gathered into one side at the waist. The other side has been left open with a cut out that exposes your bare skin. It is meant to drape down on the top of one hip. This open cut out continues from there to wrap around to the opposite side the back extending out the opening.
    • Under the cut out on the hip the fabric has been gathered in on that side for added detailing.
    • The skirt falls from that point and narrows down as it reaches the hem.
    • On the same side as the waist cut out there is a high slit that starts from the bottom of the gathering on the hip to the hem. This allows a mile of bare leg to show when you walk and move.
    • A small gather of the fabric sits on the opposite side to that placed several inches above the hem.
    • All of these gatherings and cut outs give it a really sculptural feel around the body.
    • It is fully lined in a more matte version of the same stretch material. The fabric has stretch and the measurement below are the comfortable range when the dress is laying flat. It has no closures and slips on to wear.

Beautiful Late 1980s Pierre Balmain Pastel Blue & Yellow Feather Light Strapless Silk Dress w Full Skirt

I Have A Question: Beautiful Late 1980s Pierre Balmain Pastel Blue & Yellow Feather Light Strapless Silk Dress w Full Skirt

    • This is a phenomenal dress by Pierre Balmain from the late 1980s - early 1990s.
    • At this point in history the Couture line was called simply Pierre Balmain and the main ready-to-wear line was called Ivoire de Balmain. Depending if it was late 1980s or early 90s, the creative Director would have been either Erik Mortensen (up 1989) or Alistair Blair (who joined in 1990 to over see the RTW line while Erik continued Couture).
    • The dress is made from a beautiful silk that is extremely light in weight. When this is on it is almost like wearing nothing.
    • Onto the silk is an over-sized check pattern that mixes pastel yellow with shades of soft blues. Some parts have an almost iridescent pale green finish to them and there are also muted deep golds and taupe.
    • It is strapless and fitted at the waist. The lower skirt widens out considerably from there to the hem. There are yards and yards of silk making up the skirt.
    • The back is cut longer than the front so you get this beautiful sweeping feel behind you. The silk that was used is so very light in weight and it is all cut on the bias which allows it to float and moves around you with your slightest movement.
    • I love the way there is extra fabric built-in at the back. The fabric wraps over itself for a few inches to hook into the inside the waist and also on the outer part of the waist. This adds extra fabric to the gorgeous sweep of volume of the back skirt.
    • Inside the bodice is a lightly boned and cupped inner corset that holds the dress in place. It is made out of the same fabric. The rest of the skirt is unlined. The dress closes at the back with a hidden set zipper and an inner waist stay hooks to close. The silk at the very back of the skirt hooks over itself as described above.
    • It is tagged a vintage Balmain 36

Exceptional 1960s James Galanos Yellow Silk Crepe w Blue & Yellow Beaded Back Cut Out Top

I Have A Question: Exceptional 1960s James Galanos Yellow Silk Crepe w Blue & Yellow Beaded Back Cut Out Top

    • In 1951 a 27 year old James Galanos launched his first label called Galanos Originals. By 1954 he had won a Coty award and the Neiman Marcus award.
    • His custom pieces were made close to couture standards and with a level of craftsmanship that was on par with the French couturiers. He was truly one of the great American designers and his work is held in all of the major museums around the world.
    • This is a dress that is extremely well made with a very high level of construction techniques.
    • The style of label in the dress gives us a date range of 1963 to 1977.
    • The body of the dress is made from a yellow bias cut silk crepe that has a slight texture. This is topped with a hand beaded bodice that is completely covered in a combination of yellow and brilliant blue glass tube beads.
    • The dress is suspended from the shoulders and the straps are finished with handset rows of yellow beads that are set vertically. On the bust the beads are set horizontally to run all the way around you ending at the top of the waist. More beads are set just below the waist seam.
    • The bodice is fitted and then at the back it has a cut out opening between the more bandeau back and the waist. This leaves a strip of bare skin exposed.
    • The skirt skims over the hips and then flares out quite a bit as it reaches the floor to get that beautiful silhouette that you see here.
    • The dress is fully lined in a handset yellow silk chiffon. There is elastic around the inner waist that just helps to hold it in place so it doesn't dip too much at the back. It closes with a side zipper on the bodice and then a second side zipper from the waist down. All of the bead work is done by hand and there are hand finishes throughout the dress.
    • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements below.
    • Excellent condition

Bust: 16-16.5" flat across from side seam to side seam

Spring 2007 Christian Dior by John Galliano Black Strapless Inner Corset Dress w Rhinestones & Beads

I Have A Question: Spring 2007 Christian Dior by John Galliano Black Strapless Inner Corset Dress w Rhinestones & Beads

    • This is from the Christian Dior Spring 2007 collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
    • The dress did not appear on the runway but you do see similar bead work on the Couture dress example that we have added here. Galliano often used inspiration from his Couture dresses when he looked to creating ready-to-wear pieces and vice versa.
    •  The bodice is strapless with an inner boned and cupped corset that holds the dress in place.
    • A panel wraps around the very top of the bodice with a double pleat detail running around the very the top edge.
    • Into the seam of that panel he has added the fabric that runs to the floor. It is wrapped around to overlap itself and on one side there are stitched pleats that open up at about the waist area and then continue to the hem. On the side that wraps under that there are top stitched seams set on angles towards the outer edge of the dress. All of this teamwork and stitching is subtle but adds this very interesting detail when you see it as a whole.
    • From there the dress simply skims and drapes over you to the floor. Because of its generous cut through the body it will be easier to fit and is extremely comfortable once on the body.
    • It flares out slightly at the bottom to create a beautiful column over you. It is an incredible feat of patterning.
    • All around the top portion of the dress are these floral patterns made of what looks to be a fabric covered domed bead interspersed with little prong set rhinestones. More rhinestones are scattered down the body of the dress to about the hip. These were all added by hand and you can clearly see that on the inner side of the dress.
    • John's pieces only truly come to life when worn and as good as this looks on the dress form, it is better once on the body. It is an incredible example of his work and looks to have been worn very little if at all.
    • Unlined and has an inner boned and cupped corset that hooks to close at the side. The dress closes over that with a hidden set zipper. Hand finishes.

Dreamy Fall 2008 Ungaro by Esteban Cortazar Runway Look 18 Printed Chiffon Backless Halter Dress

I Have A Question: Dreamy Fall 2008 Ungaro by Esteban Cortazar Runway Look 18 Printed Chiffon Backless Halter Dress

    • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 2008 Emanuel Ungaro collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Esteban Cortazar.
    • Estaban headed the label from 2007 to 2009, succeeding Peter Dundas. He was only 23 when he began there.
    • He brought a softer look to the label and you can clearly see that in this dress. On the runway this dress was shown with a wide belt. And you could certainly add one if you wanted to add some more shape but I love it just on its own as shown here.
    • The dress is made out of a printed silk chiffon with a soft, pale, grey tone, floral pattern worked over at surface. The silk is interspersed with silvery toned pale grey panels of jersey that help shape the direction of the fabric and add some structure to create the way the dress falls over the body.
    • A band of fabric wraps around the neck and then extends out into long ties that fall down the back in the most beautiful way.
    • At the front the silk is gathered into the band at the neck and then sweeps down and around to the back.
    • This leaves the sides partially exposed and the entire back from the waist up is left completely open and bare. Only the ties that extend from the back of the neck break the bareness of the skin there. It feels soft and feminine yet very sexy at the same time.
    • The waist is seamed and the front halter blouses over the seam. Under that the skirt curves out and over the hips and then sweeps down to the floor.
    • The jersey panels are set in curving angles down one side of the dress with the silk set so they blouse slightly over the jersey insets. This perfectly ties the way the top blouses over at the waist and creates a pretty detailing all the way down the skirt.
    • The very lower portion of the skirt is quite full and moves beautifully as you move. You can see that in the reference runway video here.
    • It is a very romantic and beautiful feeling dress.
    • The dress is fully lined in a pale grey silk chiffon through the bodice and stretch pale grey jersey through the skirt. It closes with a hidden set zipper and snaps along the back waist. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
    • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below

Outstanding Spring 2009 Nina Ricci by Olivier Theyskens Runway Look 12 Floral Printed Silk Dress

I Have A Question: Outstanding Spring 2009 Nina Ricci by Olivier Theyskens Runway Look 12 Floral Printed Silk Dress

    • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2009 Nina Ricci
    • It was made the creative direction of Olivier Theyskens.
    • In Vogue's review of the collection they said "Olivier Theyskens' collection for Nina Ricci was like watching the performance of a long piece of self-referential romantic poetry. It's a world of his own, and to fully appreciate it, you need to know what's gone before in his work: his love of Edwardiana and tailcoats; the fluttery, flyaway cutting; the delicate prints and the dusty, organic woodland-floor palettes he likes. Essentially, it was a single silhouette, with a high collar, leg-of-mutton sleeves, and skirts cut away to show long lengths of leg, clad in sheer black tights, walking on high-heeled pump"
    • Theyskens said he was "inspired by dance and dresses that each evolved their own shape, short in the front and long in the back."
    • Pieces from his time at the Nina Ricci label are an important piece of Theyskens history.
    • The dress is made out if a hand dyed silk with a print that suggest flowers in soft pastels. It has a touch of a watercolour painting in feel.
    • Under the top layer is a second pale pink tissue silk layer that is cut to follow the lines of the dress and it peeks out from behind the edges of the entire piece.
    • The bodice is very feminine in feel. The pink tissue silk under layer is cut to give a touch of a ruffle feel all the way around the straps that curved up and over the shoulders.
    • At the back there is a rounded soft scoop that leaves your entire back bare and exposed. The pink silk underlayer peaks out to create a touch of ruffle all around that scoop.
    • Vertical seaming creates shape through the waist and then the dress curves back out and over the hips.
    • The skirt is extraordinary. Depending on your height, it will sit just from mid thigh to above the knee. From there it is set so it has a slight ruffled feel all the way down the sides to the floor and then the back sweeps out behind you.
    • The silk used is extremely light in weight so this moves fantastically. I love that we have reference runway stills and video for you to be able to see how beautifully it moves.
    • This is an extraordinary example of his work during this time period.
    • The dress is fully lined in a pale pink tissue silk as described above and closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little.

I Have A Question: Prettiest Fall 2019 Alessandra Rich Black Version of Runway Look 46 Bias Cut Silk & Sequin Lace Dress

    • The twin of the dress in a white walked the runway for Look 46 for the Fall 2019 presentation.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Alessandra Rich.
    • Leonie Hanne wore the twin of this dress to the fashion show in 2019.
    • The silk that it is made out of is feather light and cut on the bias. It skims over the body to follow your curves all the way down in a beautiful and flattering way.
    • The sleeves are cut with a high peak on the shoulder and there is a little bit of stiffening along their inner edges to help hold the shape that you see. They narrow down as they reach the cuffs and there is a lace and net inset at their ends that forms the cuffs.
    • The front dips low and has a touch of transparency. It is a combination of lace and netting with a second cut out layer that sits over each breast to make it a bit more opaque. The lace plunged down to the waist so it has a very sexy feel.
    • All of that front detailing is edged in sequins that pick up the light fantastically.
    • The netting continues down the sides and the back is covered with a layer of the black netting and lace for a gorgeous exposure of skin through the lace netting.
    • The skirt is cut longer at the back than the front for a bit of a sweeping feel behind you.
    • Unlined and closes with a back hidden set zipper. Each cuff has a hidden set zipper. The fabric has stretch and the comfortable range of measurements are listed below when laying flat.
    • Tagged a modern 42
    • The dress is new with its original tags and in its original uncut length. Excellent condition and was never worn.

I Have A Question: Beautiful 2000s Valentino Roma Black Bias Cut Silk Chiffon Dress w Front & Back Plunge & Silver Sequin Bow

    • The Valentino Roma label launched in 2000 to take the place of the Miss V line. It was sold at a price point that was a bit more accessible then their main line and was meant to be available in more shops then the main line would be. The pieces were very well made. This one caught my eye simply because of how gorgeous and sexy it is. It is a stunning dress with beautiful lines.
    • The dress is made out of a black silk chiffon that is cut on the bias and flows over the body beautifully. The fabric choice keeps the dress very light in weight and gives it beautiful movement.
    • The bodice is comes down into a V at the front and the silk is gathered on an angle over to the side. A deep V is also set at the back for a bare expanse of skin to show. One side of the V at the back extends out and curves around the waist and is secured in at one side under the bow. The gathering and draping over the body feels very inspired by the bias cut gowns of the thirties and forties.
    • The bow is the key design point on the dress and it is so special feeling. It is made out of a rounded piped fabric that holds its shape. It is completely covered in tiny silver sequins, beads and rhinestones for the perfect little bit of glitz.
    • The skirt falls from under there and it is draped heavier on the side where the silk angles upwards. This creates more of a draped panel down the side that sits directly under the bow. The skirt has an extra panel of chiffon added at the front and the drape is set on the side under the bow so that it curves upwards. So when you move you get fantastic movement when you move.
    • The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hidden set side zipper.

Incredibly Rare 1970s Holly’s Harp Bias Cut Black Jersey Dress w Crossed over Plunging Front

I Have A Question: Incredibly Rare 1970s Holly’s Harp Bias Cut Black Jersey Dress w Crossed over Plunging Front

    On Layaway
    • This is a very rare dress from the 1970s created by Holly Harp.
    • Harp opened a shop LA in 1968 where she created custom clothing under the Holly's Harp label. When she started designing her clothing she tended to create her clothing out of a hodge-podge of new and old materials but once she opened her shop her designs became more slinky, and sexy. They began to reference the glamour of Old Hollywood and she preferred the bias cut feel of the 1930s.
    • She had a huge following of Hollywood and Music stars; Liza Minelli, Diana Ross, Ali McGraw, Sally Field, Janis Joplin and Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane were all fans.
    • This is a phenomenal dress from the early - mid 1970s and it is even better in person. The bias cut really needs a body in it to truly come to life.
    • Dresses like this from her are impossible to find anymore. Her work is magical.
    • The dress is made out of a bias cut black jersey that is light enough so that it drapes fantastically but also has enough weight so that it is opaque.
    • The combination of the fabric and cut make it very easy and comfortable to wear.
    • The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are set into the body of the dress starting off wide and then they narrow to a cuff at the wrist. This lets the fabric puff out slightly above each cuff.
    • The neckline crosses over itself at the front and has long attached ties which tie around the waist for shape and to hold that front V perfectly in place.
    • The dress skims over you all the way down the body to a low set seam under the waist. The dress ties at the waist and then that seam sits at the top of the hip.
    • The skirt is fantastic and it is made out of two layers of the black jersey. This gives it the weight to fall in a smooth column when you stand still but also explodes with movement when you move. When you move it all moves around you and the lightness of the fabric makes it all feel incredibly easy on.
    • The bodice has a second layer of the same fabric acting as the lining and the skirt is made of two layers of the jersey. It slips on to wear and crosses over itself at the front and ties. The fabric does have some stretch and I have put the comfortable range below.
    • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements below

Exceptional 1970s Roland Klein Metallic Silver Lame Pleated Fan Dress w Completely Open Bare Back

I Have A Question: Exceptional 1970s Roland Klein Metallic Silver Lame Pleated Fan Dress w Completely Open Bare Back

    • The dress dates to the 1970s and this is one of those things that you will only ever find in vintage. It is a remarkable vintage piece.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Roland Klein.
    • One of Klien's greatest claimed to fame was that he was one of the handful of designers that worked with Princess Diana.
    • The dress is made out of a bright metallic silver lame that has a touch of structure that allows it to hold both its shape and those amazing pleats that run over the entire dress.
    • The front part of the bodice is done in a series of angled knife pleating. This is shaped to have the feeling and shape of a fan on each side from shoulder to waist. In between the two side sides it plunges all the way to the waist and a small panel of the silver fabric covers the seam where the two panels meet at the waist.
    • Underneath the outer panels of fabric are simple triangle shaped inner halters that keep you covered and holds everything in place. Ties extend out from the top to tie behind the neck.
    • With only the two triangles at the front of the dress the entire back is subsequently left completely open and bare.
    • The waist has elastic all the way around so it is incredibly easy to fit and very comfortable to wear.
    • Under that is the skirt and the skirt is equally as phenomenal as the top. It is knife pleated into sharp pleats that run from the waist to the hem. There is an incredible amount of fabric in the skirt and when you lay out flat, it is more than a full circle around. This allows the skirt to flare out as it reaches the hem and really balance out the bodice.
    • The fabric is ultra light in weight and between that and the pleats this has fantastic movement once it is on the body and you are moving.
    • The dress is unlined and slips on wear with an elastic waist. It ties behind the back of the neck. The easy fit should allow it to work on a range of sizes. I see one tiny pinhole in a pleat on the skirt.
    • Excellent condition

Bust: each triangle under the fan covers to 7.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 11-20" flat across from side seam to side seam
    Hips: open
Bodice: approx 15" from neck to waist and adjustable with the tie
Total length: 60" from neck to hem and can be adjusted up or down an inch or two depending on how you tie it at the back of the neck.

    Modern Sizing Equivalent: XS-LRG

Outstanding Fall 2010 Alexander McQueen Gray Scale Print Silk Dress w Caped Sleeves & Trained Skirt

I Have A Question: Outstanding Fall 2010 Alexander McQueen Gray Scale Print Silk Dress w Caped Sleeves & Trained Skirt

    • This is an outstanding production dress from the Fall 2010 collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
    • At first glance it feels very much in line with what he was doing for 2007 with his castle /fairy prints. For this collection he visited upon graphic black and grey-scale prints once again. We did find a photo from the 2010 look book that shows a shorter similar version of the dress. Just to give you an idea of how the top especially will fit once on the body.
    • The dress is made out of a beautifully weighted silk that he loved to use because it gave him the drape and fluidity that he wanted his pieces to have.
    • The shoulders of the dress are padded with thicker rounded pads hidden inside. Falling from there and extending around to the back is a beautiful caped panel that drapes over the top of your arms and then folds up and under itself to create the draping around and down the back. He used a double layer of the silk for this panel so that when you move you see the pattern underneath. It is these exacting small details that always make a McQueen piece stand out.
    • The front neck line is set in a draping cowl that sits over an inner V. The dress skims over the bust and waist and then widens out to curve over the hips.
    • Yards and yards of fabric have been used to construct the skirt. It is set into the body of the dress on a curving seam that is beautiful. He often use these curving and angled seams that are throwback to Couture pieces of the 1920s and 30s and here he has used it beautifully. The silk in the skirt is all cut on the bias. The back trails out longer behind you and all of this adds up to spectacular movement around you when you move.
    • This is a truly outstanding McQueen dress.
    • The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hidden set partial mid-set zipper at the back whose placement is again a nod to the Couture pieces of the 20s and 30s. The shoulders are padded. It appears to have been worn very little if at all

Fantastic 1990s Gianni Versace Metallic Silver Stretch Jersey Dress w Front Plunge & Long Tie

I Have A Question: Fantastic 1990s Gianni Versace Metallic Silver Stretch Jersey Dress w Front Plunge & Long Tie

    • The dress dates to the late 1990s-early 2000s time period of the Versace label.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Gianni Versace.
    • The dress is made out of of a fabulous metallic silver stretch lame that makes it incredibly easy to wear and fit.
    • On the bodice wide panels curve up and over the shoulders. The shoulders are cut wide and sloped so that they sit slightly off the shoulder. There is a bit of padding underneath to hold the shape correctly on your shoulder.
    • The front plunges all the way down to the waist. I love how the way the bodice is constructed. It looks like it has all been flung over your shoulders and ties into place at the waist. It looks effortless but this is actually all achieved by the way it is seamed and set.
    • Where it meets at the front there is attached tie that loops over itself to create the suggestion of a knot and then that falls all the way down the front.
    • The skirt curves out over the hips and the entire upper portion of the skirt at the front has been gathered into the centre seam. From the hem up to the base of all of the gathers is a high slit that allows a flash of leg when you walk or move.
    • The silver catches the light from every angle to give it a liquid affect over the body and the stretch of the fabric makes it very comfortable, easy to wear and fit.
    • The dress is unlined and slips on with an elastic waist. There is light padding in each shoulder. The stretch should allow it to fit ranger sizes. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Fall 1979 Halston Runway Olive Brown & Deep Metallic Gold Leopard Print Bias Cut Dress w Belt

I Have A Question: Fall 1979 Halston Runway Olive Brown & Deep Metallic Gold Leopard Print Bias Cut Dress w Belt

    • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1979 collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Roy Halston.
    • I have seen this dress made in only three colour ways to date and with this one have now had all three on the shop; this deep green, gold and brown version, a blue and gold, and a version that has a lighter green and gold combination.
    • The dress is from his main couture line and these would have been made-to-order in his workshop during this time period.
    • Halston defined how woman dressed in the 1970s and his dresses in particular were tremendously flattering to the body.
    • This is an amazing couture Halston dress and a very rare and special find.
    • It is feather light and you are barely conscious of wearing anything. The fabric is a very fine light gold, light brown and green silk lurex lame that moves and drapes beautifully.
    • It is entirely cut on the bias above and below the elastic waist and utilizes his signature minimal seaming.
    • The neckline is scooped and there is a little keyhole at the back below the hook there. The sleeves extend out from the waist with no seam around the arm and then they narrow down to their ends. This leaves the bodice loose and generous over you.
    • There is elastic set around the waist so it is very easy to fit. The dress also comes with its original matching tie belt in the same fabric. The belt is shaped more like a cummerbund with a wider panel that extends into smaller ties on each side. This lets you wrap and shape it around you and cinch in the waist much as you wish. You can leave the ties at the front or the back.
    • The skirt falls from there and slightly widens out as it nears the hem and there are pockets on each hip.
    • This is a rare example of Halston at his very best and is a rare example of when he chose to use a print over a solid colour.
    • The is unlined and slips on with an elastic waist. It hooks at the back of the neck above a keyhole. It comes with its original belt and is hand finished throughout. Its easy fit should allow it to work for range of sizing.
    • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below
    • Excellent condition

Sleeves: approx 25" and are open through the upper arm
    Shoulders: no true defined seam
Bust: open with no true side seams

Hips: 19-26" flat across from side seam to side seam

I Have A Question: Spectacular Spring 2005 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 53 Strapless Deep Pink Silk Dress w Full Skirts

    • The near twin of this dress walked the Spring 2005 ODLR runway for Look 53.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
    • I love having video and the reference photos however I do want to point out that the skirt on this dress is slightly different than the one that walked the runway. It falls longer and is swept up slightly to one side. I think after the runway, they reconfigured the skirt slightly and it is far better on this dress than what you see in the runway photos and video.
    • Vogue said that his collections "are a delight to the eye: flawlessly executed, poised, and urbane with just the right balance of mature charm and youthful exuberance" and this dress in particular was noted when they said "When it comes to evening wear no one knows more about giving women what they want... a cooly elegant strapless dress with an undulating puff skirt? In Oscar's world there's no such thing as the wrong choice."
    •  The dress is made out of the perfect deep fuchsia pink silk. It is strapless and the neckline curves around and over the bust dipping in the middle. The strapless silhouette leaves your upper back bare and exposed.
    • Starting at the waist area the silk is draped from the centre of the back and wraps around the waist and over the top of the hip on either side. It is then gathered over itself at the centre front. I think this detail is beautiful.
    • Inside there is a full built-in corset that is cupped, boned and shaped for support.
    • The skirt is spectacular. Here you see the genius of Oscar. The skirt has a ton of volume to it that shows best when you move. It is made out of a cascade of silk with a second layer under the top layer. At the front both layers are cut shorter and then sweep and curve around to the back.
    • The skirt becomes wider and more full as it nears the hem and at the back it falls longer then the front so that you get this pretty curve from the side view along with a fantastic sweep of skirts from the back. On the runway, this was very symmetrical and shorter but this has that second inner layer that falls lower on the leg and it has a bit more of an asymmetrical feel. It is so much better and more dramatic than how it was shown on the runway in my opinion.
    • All of the volume is created by the sheer amount of silk used and the addition of a pink silk organza lining which helps to hold air between the two layers and keep the volume.
    • When this is on and you are walking the effect and movement that this creates is absolutely gorgeous. This is Oscar at his very best.
    • The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk organza. The interior corset closes with its own zipper at the back and then a second hidden set zipper closes the dress over that. The inner corset is fully boned and cupped. An attached inner waist stay hooks to close. I see a tiny bit of stress to the seam just under the zipper that is very minor but mentioned for accuracy, and perhaps some grubbiness around the hem, again very minor but mentioned for accuracy.
    • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
    • Excellent condition

I Have A Question: Chic Spring 2008 Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati Runway Look 35 Deep Fuchsia Pink Silk One Shoulder Dress

    • The twin of this dress was Look 35 on the Spring 2008 Yves Saint Laurent runway for Look 35.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Stefano Pilati
    • On the runway the dress was worn by Freja and it was also shot on Kate Moss that season.
    • Stefani said that he had been thinking of "goddesses and stars" for the evening pieces.
    • This was the strongest dress of the collection and I love having all of these reference photos for you because you can see just how beautiful this dress is on the body.
    • The dress is made out of a beautifully weighted silk that is cut on the bias. The colour is a deep fuchsia pink. That is a rich and lovely jewel tone.
    • The end entire dress falls from one shoulder. The sleeve on that side is kept simple, starting out wide from the body and then narrows at the cuff.
    • The front of the dress angles down on a curve and it does the same at the back. It is more fitted through the bust and curves past the waist.
    • The bias cut lets it skim over and fall over the hips to highlight your curves.
    • The skirt falls from there and is made from seamed panels that give a nod to the thirties in their execution.
    • The skirt is very full and that, combined with the bias cut, give this incredible movement as you move. It  is an extremely sensual and sexy feeling dress once on.
    • I think this was one of the strongest dresses of his entire time at this label.
    • The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk and it closes with a hidden set zipper at the side. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
    • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

Spring 2019 Monique Lhuillier Runway Strapless Bright Pink Net Tulle Dress w Full Multi Tier Skirt

I Have A Question: Spring 2019 Monique Lhuillier Runway Strapless Bright Pink Net Tulle Dress w Full Multi Tier Skirt

    • The twin of this dress was Look 15 in the Spring Monique Lhuillier presentation.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Monique Lhuillier.
    • We have included a photo of it on the Dee Hilfiger in between that and the presentation photo, you can see how spectacular this dress is on the body.
    • The Lookbook was shot at a picturesque French château and Lhuillier  said of the show that she "wanted the clothes to be seen in the place where they might be worn”.
    • The bodice is strapless and cut to hug you and shape your curves. The peaks at the front are high and the netted tulle wraps over the bodice with variations in colour to add a bit of interest and depth. Inside it boned and shaped and the back scoops down and around.
    • The waist is nipped in and then the skirt explodes out from under that. The skirt is spectacular. It is layers and layers of tulle set on top of each other and cut in different sections to get its elaborate shape.
    • Underneath each layer is netting cut to follow the shape above and then that has a wide panel of stiffened netting that goes all the way around you and follows the pattern of the skirt. The back is cut a little longer so that you get a bit of a trailing effect behind you.
    • The bodice has a built-in netted and lightly boned corset and the skirt is lined in a pink silk. Layers of netting underneath the tulle as described above. Retailed just over $10k and produced in limited quantities. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
    •  Tagged a modern Lhuillier 4.
    • Excellent condition.

I Have A Question: Easy-to-Wear Spring 2020 Emporio Armani Runway Look 59 Grey Silk Organza Silver Sequin Dress

    • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2020 Emporio Armani collection for the Look 59.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
    • The collection was entitled "Air" and the pieces were soft. The show opened under a projection of a lightly clouded sky, and when the evening pieces walked the runway, it changed to a star filled moonscape. Appropriate given the silvers and greys of the final grouping of dresses. The sequins and paillettes on the dress catch the light beautifully and you can see that in the reference video.
    • This was shown as a strapless piece on the runway. The straps that it was sent to the shops with are set inside the upper edge of the bodice so that they could easily be tucked in if you preferred it that way.
    • The dress is made out of a textured silk organza that is beautifully light in weight but still has enough structure to hold the shape that you see.
    • Onto the silk are little oval paillettes done in different shades of silver and pewter. Each is suspended from the dress by a little hole at their tops and as they progress down the dress they have a little beaded bit so that they hang off of the dress more. At the top of the dress they are so heavily overlapped that they almost stand up and off of the dress and then as they reach the hem they scatter out.
    • A grey piping finishes the neckline and that is also what the straps are made out of. From there it skims over the bust and widens out around the waist for a easy to fit feel. It continues to widen out over the hips all the way to the hem.
    • These were produced on a very limited basis and that is noted on the tag. It was priced at just over 6K at retail.
    • The dress is fully lined in matching grey silky feeling fabric and it closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little at all.

I Have A Question: Fall 2016 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Nude Pink Net Dress w Scattered Silver Sequin & Beads

    • The twin of this dress that was shown over a nude stretch top and walked the runway for Look 80 in the Fall 2016 collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli.
    • It was also featured in an editorial for Marie Claire Spain that season.
    • The entire dress is made from a pale nude tulle netting that has just a hint of a pink undertone to it. It is lined in a matching silk so that is so opaque enough to wear. That lining could be removed if you preferred a full transparent feel.
    • Scattered over the tulle are silver sequins that each have a tiny clear bead topping the sequin. These catch the light from every angle.
    • The dress is suspended from tiny net straps that curve up and over each shoulder. The front scoops across and the upper back is left bare and exposed.
    • A ruffled panel of the netting is attached all the way around the neck line and as it curves towards the back it gets wider so that it drapes down the sides and just past the waist at the back. This adds a pretty feminine and airy feel to the dress.
    • The waist is seamed to nip in and the skirt is full and easy over the hips. It is very wide and full by the time it reaches the hem. Under the top layer of netting are three additional netted layers. The layer in the middle of those three has a double hem and all of this built in under-skirting helps to hold the volume and give the skirt its structure and shape. A final opaque layer in silk sits against your skin.
    • The dress is fully lined in a matching silk and closes with hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Exceptional Fall 1983 Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture Runway Black Silk Wrap Dress w Bow Detail

I Have A Question: Exceptional Fall 1983 Yves Saint Laurent Haute Couture Runway Black Silk Wrap Dress w Bow Detail

    • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1983 YSL Haute Couture collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
    • The dress would have been completely made by hand in the Paris atelier
    • In this collection Yves paid homage to Paris. He told French Vogue that the collection was dedicated to "the prestige of Paris, as I knew it when I first arrived… That is why it reflects many things from my youth, my first sensations when I arrived in Paris from Algeria.". The book Yves Saint Laurent: Catwalk noted that the cuts were loose and offered room to breathe. Pink and black with the two primary colours used for this season and that "the black dresses were chic and cut to perfection".
    • This dress is exceptional in person and I feel like the photos are not giving it full justice. The silk is light and weight, and it has far more drape and ease than I think the photos are conveying. It is an absolutely beautiful and chic dress that needs a body to truly come to life.
    • The runway photos really give you a better idea of how this dress will look like once on the body.
    • The dress is made out of a light weight black silk of exceptional quality.
    • The shoulders are lightly shaped and the silk has been gathered up and into the shoulders. The sleeves are cut wider where they are set into the bodice and then narrow to a zippered wrist.
    • The dress wraps and snaps at the side to close and there is a built-in inner waist stay to hold it perfectly in place. This is one of his signature designs and allows the drape that you see while letting the dress stay secure. It also allows the bodice to drape beautifully over you.
    • The wrap of the dress creates a V neck line at both the front and the back.
    • Where the dress closes at the waist the fabric has been gathered into a black silk bow to highlight the waist area. On one side of the dress the fabric is finished with a pleating detail that opens up to create the perfect drape over the body. On the other side, it is pulled up and under the bow which lets the hem at that side have a slight curve up from the bottom.
    • The dress is so well-made that I think you could wear it either way around depending on how it works best on you.
    • This is an extraordinary piece of true Haute Couture by one of the greatest designers of our lifetime.
    • The dress is unlined and is completely hand finished inside to Haute Couture standards. It hooks and snaps to close at the waist and inside there is a hidden set zipper and inner built-in waist stay. Each sleeve zips to close at the wrist. Light padding at the top of each shoulder.
    • There is no size tag present because it is true Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.
    • Excellent condition

Iconic 1972 Ossie Clark Couture 'Cuddly' Black Moss Crepe Open Back Wrap Dress w Huge Sleeves

I Have A Question: Iconic 1972 Ossie Clark Couture 'Cuddly' Black Moss Crepe Open Back Wrap Dress w Huge Sleeves

    • This is one of his most iconic and collectible designs that dates to 1972.
    • The dress made under the creative direction of Ossie Clark
    • Ossie named all of his couture dress and this one is known as the Cuddly.
    • To wear the dress you simply slip it on and wrap it at the waist where it ties into place.
    • The dress is made out of his signature moss crepe in black.
    • The wrap creates a V at the front and then the back has a large open cut out that leaves your back bare and exposed.
    • It is very sexy and instantly recognizable as being an Ossie Clark piece.
    • The sleeves are phenomenal. Each is a huge very full balloon bishop cut sleeve that are puffed and full above their cuffs.
    • Once the dress is wrapped around you the skirt curves over your hips and then falls to the floor, widening out as it nears the hem. The dress is in its original length.
    • The wrap leaves a long overlap at the front side of the skirt. When you stand still it falls over itself but when you move or sit you do a flash of leg. Depending on how tight you tie out around the waist you can show the entire leg.
    • The dress is unlined and made out of a black moss crepe. One tie is a little shorter then the other but does not appear to have been altered. I see very minor bits of lighter areas on the moss crepe here and there. This is a natural patina on this type of fabric as in ages and is mentioned for accuracy
    • The wrap style should allow it to fit a variety of sizes.

Incredible & Rare 1980s Bob Mackie Well Documented Ivory Sequin & Nude Stretch Net High Slit Dress

I Have A Question: Incredible & Rare 1980s Bob Mackie Well Documented Ivory Sequin & Nude Stretch Net High Slit Dress

    • This dress is instantly recognizable as having been designed by Bob Mackie.
    • Mackie was best known for dressing Cher and for his undying love of opulence and bead work, both of which he incorporates heavily into the best of his designs.
    • He worked for both Edith Head and Jean Louis prior to working as a costume designer and co-designing with Ray Aghayan. That led to his incredible journey in designing for stars like Cher and Diana Ross for many years.
    • Tracee Ellis Ross wore its twin along with several others we have included here. It is one of his pieces that have become iconic in modern culture.
    • This is an amazing dress that is heavily sequinned and extremely sexy and flattering once on. The base of the dress is made of a nude stretch silk netting that has a pattern made up of beautiful curving bands that feel like they are wrapped around you like flames.
    • Mixed into this is an elaborated detailing made of faux pearls that curve down the front of the dress and highlight that very high set slit at the front. The pearl embellishments travels upwards right to the neckline and run down each sleeve.
    • The designs that you see are made up of ivory coloured sequins hand set in curving bands. White and silver tube beads are set vertically to create an edge around each of those curving bands. Additional silver sequins and rhinestones are scattered in between.
    • The combination of the glass tube beads and sequins give the dress an extra layer of texture and glamour as every inch of it catches the light and sparkles.
    • The dress has a decent weight to it when it is off of the body because of that extensive bead-work but once on the body it lies and drapes in a way that it is balanced and easy to wear.
    • The bodice is cut to skim over the chest with a high, slightly angled neckline. The sleeves are cut straight and lined with a layer of nude silk to really show off the design that trails down and around each sleeve.
    • The waist is brought in just slightly so that there is a bit of shape created but there is no horizontal seam to break the lines of the design.
    • The skirt is cut on a curve so the back is longer then the front and it wraps around you to that high, wide slit at the front. The effect of this is far more dramatic and fabulous on a real body and it really shows off the legs.
    • These were produced with a nude silk chiffon lining. If you preferred the true nude, semi-see through dress that Mackie is so well known for, you could easily have it removed.
    • The dress is fully lined in a nude silk through the body and the sleeves have a more transparent nude chiffon lining. It closes with a painted metal and nylon back zipper. Hand finished throughout. Slight padding at the edge of each shoulder and zippers on each cuff. In person it is a touch more of a cream. Perhaps the occasional loose thread. It is extremely well made. It does have some stretch and the measurements below are the comfortable range laying flat.

Fall 2002 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 50 Purple Silk Dress w Hand Applied Patchwork

I Have A Question: Fall 2002 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 50 Purple Silk Dress w Hand Applied Patchwork

    • The near twin of this dress walked the Fall 2002 runway for Look 50 in the collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
    • Photos from a Moroccan open air market were projected onto the stagefront and this is what set the tone for the show that season. In the review of the collection that year Vogue commented; 'There was a whiff of far-flung exoticism throughout the collection... almost every outfit got a touch of spice via embroidery, (or) a dusting of sequins. De la Renta ended as always, with a parade of great evening wear... just a thing for midnight at the Medina.'
    • The dress has this fabulous almost sculptural feel with is simple cut and that beautiful deep purple silk fabric. It's full coverage keeps it feeling very refined and elegant.
    • The silk is a very high quality and feels very smooth to the touch. This fabric choice keeps it fairly light in weight but it still has enough structure to hold that gorgeous shape that you see.
    • The neck is a shallow scoop and the bodice is cut to skim over you. The shoulders are shaped but soft and the sleeves are long and slightly taper down to the wrist.
    • The waist is brought in through curved vertical seaming and the skirt falls from there to the floor.
    • I love the patchwork panels that are added all the way around the lower hem. These are made up of a variety of embroidered silks and velvets that have the occasional mirrored embellishment worked within the embroidery. These run all the way around the hem and up and into the skirt.
    • Underneath the top layer is a vivid pink underskirt with a stiffen hem and ruffle covering over that. I have taken a photo to show you how the very edge of this ruffle peaks out from underneath the outer hem of the skirt for an unexpected shot of vibrant colour.
    • The underskirt helps add support and hold the fullness of the skirt. It adds a pretty sense of sweeping skirts as you walk away.
    • Hidden pockets are set along each hip.
    • The dress is fully lined in a vibrant pink silk. It closes with a hidden back set zipper and each sleeve has a hidden set zipper at its cuff. There is a tiny bit of stress to the center and one side seam near the waist at the back. Please see the photo after the label shot. The zipper has a tiny bit of stick when it hits the spot. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little at all.

I Have A Question: Fall 2008 Alexander McQueen 'The Girl Who Lived in a Tree' Strapless Draped Silk Dress w Elaborate Beading

    • This dress is from the McQueen's Fall 2008 collection.
    • It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
    • This is the actual dress worn by Connie Britton to the 2024 Emmys.
    • The fall 2008 collection was called 'The Girl Who Lived in a Tree' and it was inspired by a combination of his trip to India and a 600 year old elm in his garden.
    • The V&A Museum says of this collection: 'McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2008 collection centered on a fairy tale narrative devised by McQueen about a girl who descends from a tree to marry a prince and then become a queen. It was inspired by a 600-year-old elm tree in the garden of the designer’s Sussex home. At the center of the set stood a giant tree swathed in fabric, inspired by Bulgarian artist Christo, who is renowned for wrapping buildings with material.'
    • You can see a similar swooping cut that the final pieces of this show had.
    • The dress is made out of a beautiful rich black silk and is cut with a sculptural line combined with that bias cut draping.
    • Inside there is a more fitted dress and then the length is created by a long panel of black silk that is attached around the neck line and drapes over the inner dress.
    • The dress is strapless and there is a full built-in cupped and boned corset that holds the dress in place and gives you support. The way that the silk panel is draped over the inner dress allows one side of the inner dress to be seen.
    • The part of the inner dress that can be seen was then elaborately finished with hand done embroidery and beads done in a stunning floral design. I took several photos holding the draped panel away from the inner part of the dress so you can see how the beading extends even underneath the panel that lies over top of it.
    • The silk panel that sits over this beautifully constructed inner bodice falls around you all the way to the floor on one side. On the other side, the silk is gathered up so that it drapes down and around you. This is a classic and signature McQueen silhouette, and is absolutely stunning once on the body.
    • The dress is a beautiful mix of exposing just enough of the shape of the body so you don't lose your shape completely while at the same time it showcases the exceptional tailoring skills that he excelled at and how he could control the draping exactly how he wished it to fall.
    • I love how the draping slightly exaggerates the shape of the body. No matter what angle you see this dress from once it is on there is an interesting drape or an elaborate beaded detail.
    • Inside, an inner black silk lining goes to just above the knee and there is a built in inner corset that is lightly boned and cupped. The corset has its own back zipper to close and then the dress zips to close over that with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
