One of the holy grails for the Biba collector is this iconic natural fox fur jacket! It has a strong nod to the 40s in is cut - typical of this era - and it is in amazing shape! The shoulders are strong but cut slim - you can see that definite Biba cut at play. I love how a striped line is created by following the natural pelts and how it has an almost swing jacket cut. Pockets are hidden along the front, again giving it a bit of a forties feel. The collar is small and neat and each sleeve is cut wide. Has not only its Biba tag but the original tag identifying its item number! Very collectible and special! Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a taupe silky rayon. Closes with fur hooks at the front. Hidden pickets at the front waist. I has been specialty cleaned. Perhaps the teeniest of wear near the sleeve ends but nothing that mars or detracts.

This is a stunning day dress and a beautiful example of couture during this time period. Best of all it is the same pattern as the evening piece worn and documented by Catherine Deneuve! The dress is constructed on an impeccable level. The silk is very fine and has a snake print in green the completely covers it from shoulder to hem. The bodice is cut to skim and the waist cinches in. You can give it further definition with the matching belt! The sleeves cuff at the wrist and have a slight puff above. I love the skirt - it is flat pleated around the hip and then opens to soft knife pleats that give it movement. It is extremely well made as one would expect. Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Fully lined in silk except for the sleeves. It closes at the front with the buttons as shown and has a side, hidden set zipper. Each cuff closes with a button. The belt is original and in excellent shape.

This is a rare and stunningly beautiful Gina Fratini silk chiffon gown. It is one of the most beautiful pieces I have seen form her. She did this gown in printed silks but only a version or two was done in this glitter on silk applique technique. Silver glitter is fused onto the silk and creates a stunning geometric pattern that runs over the entire dress head to toe. The inner dress is a bias cut sheath that dips low in the back and whose train is comprised of layer of silk over each other. It is cut slim and fitted at the front and then trails down at the back with extra panels gathered up through the center low back to give it this gorgeous trained effect! Over the simple tank interior is a stunning overlay of chiffon - it billows around the wearer with sleeves set from the waist and it ties at the back. The inner dress dips low at the back and this suggestion of bare skin peeks through the silk overlay. It's very sexy and gives the wearer a goddess feel. Excellent condition
Fully lined in black tissue silk and closes with a back low set zipper. The layer that sits over the bodice closes with a silk ties at the back of the neck.

A stunning Bill Blass gown that has a unique and beautiful design! That flowing bohemian feel skirt is created by huge "scarf" like panels of fabric that are inserted at the waist and circle the entire skirt. There is an inner skirt that is more fitted adn these scarf panels float over the skirt. They are incredibly fine and light so move with the wearers slightest movement! Really incredible. This airy feeling is continued in the sleeves that are left unlined and cut wide with a slight slanted edge. The front plunges tot he high waist and an attached panel of fabric hooks in the back to define the waist. The fabric is a high grade silk chiffon with gold thread woven through it. It is very beautiful and the design is both innovative and rare. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a nude tissue silk through the bodice and the inner skirt of the same fabric acts as a lining for the overlay of "scarf" panels that are attached at the hip all around the dress. The sleeves are unlined. Closes with a back painted metal zipper

An exquisite silk Galanos that is absolutely wonderful! Really one of the best I have seen! The print is fabulous as well, black silk chiffon has black dots worked directly into the fabric. Then brilliant turquoise blue squares are screened onto from top to bottom. This, combined with how he has layered the exterior fabric over the same inner fabric give it lots of texture and depth. I adore the ruffles that go down then front and ring the neck and where the sleeves are set into the shoulders. Each cuff and the waist have elastic so its incredibly easy to wear and adjust for fit. The from unbuttons completely to the waist so you can go from refined lady like appeal to sexy seventies vixen with just a few buttons. Even when buttoned tot he neck there is a bit of a keyhole between the neck and next buttons. The sleeves are amazing - very wide and full but all in that near weightless chiffon/ Really absolutely beautiful! Excellent, appears unworn condition

A rare and extremely beautiful Scott Barrie dress made of the lightest, finest silk chiffon. I absolutely love the print on this dress and I love how he has cleverly used elastic worked into the fabric to create shape and definition exactly where he wanted it. This has been used across the shoulder and into the high neck. It runs down each shoulder top and is used again at the cuff. This gives it an twist on a medieval type feel and really allows for volume through the sleeves. The waist has 5 full bands so a slight empire waist is creates. Using this technique also allows for the fabric that does not have elastic to be very full - the skirt is stunning and just cascades to the floor. It is a really special piece and very beautiful! I personal favorite! Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Sizing is variable because of the elastic gathers that really allow this piece to stretch and work for different sizes - if the bust fits the rest should work fine. It closes with a back painted metal zipper and each cuff has elastic.

From the Fall 1971-72 collection that took its inspiration from the Medieval gowns in terms of cut and then were spun into fabulous these fabulous dress! Sant' Angelo was the winner of two Coty Awards and two Council of Fashion Designers of America honors and was known for his innovation and pioneering use of stretch fabrics. This is an amazing maxi dress that showcases his love for color and that nod to using fabrics that were up to this point in time, largely not used. Made of a what is almost a fleeced T-shirt material with a bit of a stretch it is the most deliciously comfortable thing to wear. His signature contrasting piping finishes the neck and pattern is masterfully used in layers and screened tiers to showcase the cut. The sleeves are amazing two tiers of fabric that sit over each other and they are cut wide and full. The skirt also falls in two tiers of fabric with a ruffle finish and a sexy front slit. Sant' Angelo once said, "I am not a fashion designer but an artist who works in fashion engineer of color and form" This gown shows us how true that statement. A similar gown resides in The Met collection! Excellent condition and a rare, highly collectible piece.

This is am amazing piece and similar to another I have had in the past! At first glance it appears to be a gown but at closer inspection you see that it is a skirted jumpsuit! The attached skirt that sits over the interior jumpsuit is made of a net that has a dot design worked into it. The same netting forms the puffed sleeves. A zipper sits at both the front and back. It's made in a way that I actually had to think on how it should go on the mannequin. Every square inch of the jumpsuit part is covered in glossy black sequins and the the zipped front allows you a full high neck or a super low and sexy plunge. The waist nips in through seaming and it skims the body while the sequins make the entire thing glint and glimmer in the light. The unexpectedness of the jumpsuited legs is just fabulous! Terrific piece in excellent condition and well made as one would expect from Oscar de la Renta!
Except for the sleeves it is fully lined in a black rayon and has a fully zip at the back and a partial zip at the front. Each sleeve has a snap to close. Note that the hem has been let down on each leg for maximum length so each finishes with a ribbon.

An amazing Azzedine Alaia leather coat that you could potentially wear as a dress too! It is cut to fit and hug every curve. The leather is a deep olive-brown color that is very striking and a perfect alternative to black. The shoulders are rounded and the waist nips in to create a wasp waist shape. The skirt part is cut wide and at the back it has extra leather worked in so that you get a almost bustle like fullness . Signature Alaia and very sexy! Excellent condition.

This is a fabulous 1970s Leonard done in a beautiful silk jersey in a deep red with hand painted gold and azure flowers painted onto ii. Those incredible and dramatic sleeves give is a kimono-esque, exotic feel that is unbelievable. They are each a full 35" in length and trail down the sides with an opening for the wearer to slip their hand through. The skirt flows to the ground in a column of silk jersey. The waist is seamed but is left loose so that it does not disrupt that column feel. The front crosses and plunges. The contrast between the colors on the red and the slimness of the skirt mixed with the volume of the sleeves is incredible! Excellent condition.
Unlined and closes with a hand set, side painted metal zipper. Each sleeve has an opening created by a stitched side so you can slip your hand through and then the rest of the incredible sleeves trails below. The fabric of the body is a silk jersey and has stretch. There is the slightest water mark on the front skirt but it gets lost in the fabric and does not detract from this incredible gown. Priced accordingly.

An absolutely stunning and very sexy red silk halter and skirt by Bill Blass. It is so fresh and modern in feel that it could be easily mistaken as a piece from a current runway! It is completely and masterfully cut on the bias so drapes to skim over the body. The color is absolutely fantastic - the perfect clear red that flatters most skin tones - I think it is even better in person then how it has photoed! A fine layer of the finest grade silk floats over the body and cascades to the floor. The neckline is a high and a tiny strap suspends it from the neck. The skirt is long and lean with a high sexy front slit. Attached tot he skirt are long piped silk ties. There is a small opening made at the front of the halter that the ties slip through and then you wrap them around you to create a very Grecian goddess look. Between that and the stunning fabric and cut it is very sexy. Excellent, appears unworn, condition
Both pieces are unlined. The halter has a fabric covered button and loop at the very back of the neck. The skirt closes with a painted zipper and hook & eye at the waist. The tie belt that loops around and through the opening on the top is attached at one side of the waist band of the skirt. Hand finishes.

This is an incredible numbered Christian Dior from the 1950s. The color is a startling blue that is just divine! It is hand dyed on a textured silk brocade. The brocade has a raised pattern worked into it so depending on how the light hits it different aspects of the pattern come to play. It is just incredible! Based on the "New Look" silhouette the top is sculpted to the body and kept simple with a rounded front and back. The sleeves go just to the elbow and are cut straight. A seam that follows the shoulder runs down each. There is an amazing detail at the waist - just above the belt you can see two piping rows of satin - these are connected by a fine thin bit of net underneath! Just a hint of sexuality but so subtle a girl of that time could never get chastised for it! The skirt is full and has its own built in underpinnings with two layers of tulle, the inner of which has a double hem of horse hair edging for fullness and shape. An inner boned, fine corset holds the wearer perfectly in place. The dress is finished by a sweet bow at the front and an attached belt that wraps around and hooks under the bow. An exceptional early dress that is in excellent overall condition and is important and rare.
Fully lined and closes with a back painted metal zipper as well as hook & eye and snaps. . A full built in corset made of netting and it is boned. Two tulle underskirts with the inner having a tiered bottom and both edges finished with a wide strip of horsehair ribbon inside for shape. Note the following condition issues - the backing of the belt that wraps around the waist is degrading. It is still in sound shape but it is going at the back. This does not show when on. There is some minor degradation of the silk under one arm and at the very tip seam of the opposite shoulder. I have photoed the one under the arm - please super size to view. It has been priced accordingly and I feel it is sound enough to wear with care if you wish to do so. Note the color is a touch deeper blue then how it has photographed

The ultimate rich hippie rock an droll chic coat! Made of hand dyed burnt orange ostrich feathers that are set onto the base fabric so that they almost twist - its almost like they create a bias cut fabric out of the feathers - this causes it to roll open a bit when one so you get this long lean line and it always seems to sit perfectly in place and not create bulk like some feather pieces can! The color is just amazing, rich and deep and very flattering to most skin tones! It feels very in season this year with the Saint Laurent rick and roll effect taking place. Very rare and special piece! Excellent condition
Fully lined in a matching silky rayon and has no closures. The lining has some slight discolorations and a couple of minor repairs but it presents as perfect when on. No shedding.

Krizia was one of the leading Italian fashion houses in the eighties and produced some stellar pieces that are rapidly becoming collectibles. Krizia was one of the group who in the eighties took sportswear to the streets and made is fashion. This outfit is just amazing! It is made of a silk cut gold velvet on a soft pastel teal chiffon and is very light weight. It is also but on the boas so the movement and drape are fabulous! The pants are cut harem style but feel wrapped around the leg - each side is cut high up and on a curve so it almost has a skirted effect. There are side panels on each leg that cross and button at the front, further emphasizing that skirted look. The top is amazing! It is loose and draped and has a long fabric piece attached that crosses on the front and drapes down and round the back! Buttons adorn the front and on each shoulder and what buttons they are! It is just amazing and so different and unique! Highly collectible and will only be more so as time passes. Excellent, appears unworn condition
Unlined and cut on the bias. The pants have a front zipper and button at the waist and then each side panel folds over and buttons at the waist as well. The top buttons down the front and the draped panel is attached so you step into it. There are snaps on either side to hold it n place - it deliberately twists in the back to form off set drapes.

This is an outstanding early example of James Galanos work! The near identical dress resides in the permanent collection at The Metropolitan Museum in NYC in a black version. I think the beautiful red version is so much better! Galanos was a designer for whom the fabric was always the start point and this particular fabric is wonderful! It is a deep blood red and cut to skim over the body. The Met's description of the black version feels proper to share here for this one as well:
"From an early age, James Galanos knew he was destined to be a fashion designer. Unlike his peers, he chose to build his career in Los Angeles, rather than New York's Seventh Avenue. He is recognized for his exquisite ready-to-wear pieces that are characteristically couture, as they are as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. With his extreme attention to detail and talent with luxurious fabrics, most notably silk chiffon, he created masterpieces worn by ladies of society, actresses, and former presidential lady, Nancy Reagan.
The sculptural quality of this sheath dress is a classic example of Galanos' work. Perfection is achieved with his great attention to detail, most notable in the pleats at the bust and the seaming at the waist. The dress enhances the natural curves of the body, following the silhouette with precision. It is timeless because of its simplicity and elegance."
Beautifully constructed a true piece of fashion history. Excellent condition and constructed to couture standards.

A classic sixties set from the rare Webe label. Webe pieces are very well made and had a refined chicness about them! The dress is a waistless shift with rounded, almost sculpted shoulders. The seaming on it is all highlighted by a row of stitching down one side. This subtle little detail really adds to the richness of the piece. The coat has this same design touch. It is cut to skim over the sleeveless sheath without creating a lot of bulk. Hidden pockets make is practical and the little back belt on both pieces is a pretty design element. Very well made and in excellent condition
Both pieces are fully lined in a brown silky rayon that is hand set. The dress closes with a hand set, back painted metal zipper. The coat buttons to close and has pockets hidden along the sides. There is a slight suggestion of over pressing down the front of the coat but it is only noticeable in certain lights.. Very well made and both pieces are of a good solid weight but do not feel cumbersome when on.

This is just extraordinary and exemplifies Yves mastery in cut. He combines the utmost simplicity in this gown and uses the fabric to create the statement. His signature pink is used here in a heavy grade textured silk that is cut completely on the bias and has also been cleverly seamed down the front to create his signature "Y"! The gown is suspended by a mere 3 and a half inch band of black silk velvet. It flows from there in a swatch of pink to the floor, gently widening as it nears the ground. The effect is stark and dramatic but soft and feminine at the same time. Truly a master piece and in excellent condition.
Note that the color is actually that iconic YSL pink it has photoed a touch more hot pink than it is in person - think his famous pink bow dress pink!

In 1975 Mary McFadden invented a pleated technique that was a nod to Fortuny but was done in a polyester fabric and whose pleating was permanent. This fabrication became her trademark and was considered cutting edge at the time. This particular gown is a wonderful example of how she worked that fabric in and used it in contrast with other textural elements. The skirt is a beautiful silk brocade and has a subtle shimmer to tit. The top is of course her signature pleated fabric and is cut low in the front and will long and lean sleeves. It is the banding at the waist that I particularly love on this one - it is quite wide and has sequins hand sewn and placed on a gold metallic thread base! The contrast of the three elements is stunning and it is a beautiful gown and from her couture label! Excellent condition

Hailed as one of the seasons most "joltingly dramatic contributions to the current dialogues about tailoring and austerity." by Style.com this was one of Stefano Pilati's strongest collections while at YSL. The "curviform layers of scroll-like volumes in skirts" were specifically mentioned as a strong design element and this dress has just that! It is made of a stretch, bias cut silk that conforms to the body until the skirt flares saucily outwards. It has a slight draped neckline and round cut shoulders. Shown on the runway with a jacket over it. Very futuristic but with a touch of the 1940s! It has never been worn and still has it repair swatch!

This gown is a knock out! It is really one of those pieces that make you catch your breathe when you see it! It is however, extremely tiny and I could not get its tiny cut onto a mannequin. You will have to take my word that once on it transforms into a figure hugging mermaid, bombshell of a dress! It has a full built in bra and the exterior cups of this are shaped and covered in densely placed, hand sewn bead work interspersed with glossy jet sequins. The design swirls around each cup and flares up and above the chest. The applique continues around the back. From there the dress turns into a sequin encrusted column that hugs every curve. The back is cut slightly longer which emphasizes the lean, long cut. All the work is hand done and it is extraordinarily special and absolutely fabulous! Excellent condition and constructed to couture standards.
Fully lined in a deep taupe silk and closes with a fine painted metal zipper. There is repair work to the inside back lining near the hem but it if course does not show when on. The bodice has a full bra built in that closes with hook and eye. In theory you could remove this (or extend the back) if you needed a touch more room. The hips have no room at all from the listed measurement. The sequins are all hand sewn onto a fine silk chiffon base. Perhaps the occasional missing sequin.

A remarkable Oscar de La Renta dress from 1971 as documented in US Vogue! Made of a poly jersey it has a simple, heavily elasticized bodice like a tube top. This hugs the body until it gets to the waist and then the skirt flows out from there. The sleeves are amazing! The too are elastic until just above the elbow and then they puff out until they are cinched back in at each wrist. You can wear it on or off the shoulder. I love the little ruffle edge along the top! Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Unlined and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Each cuff has fabric covered snaps to close. Attached tie detail at front waist. The zipper can open if not completely zipped but it is original and is fine is zipped to the top and the pull folded down so I have left it in its original condition.
Sleeves: approx 21"
Shoulders: no defined seam and will sit on or off shoulder
Bust: heavily elasticized - will fit teeny to about a 34" bust
Waist: heavily elasticized - will fit teeny to about a 24" waist

This is an early Valli - he only started his company in March of 2005 so it is wonderful to find an early runway piece! The dress is classic Valli at his best! It is fitted and the inside is finished like a corset - this holds the almost micro mini firmly in place! The fabric is a thin light cotton that is hand placed and tucked into place. It is all seemingly caught up with the three bows hat sit on the bust waist and hips. A spectacular Valli and very sexy! Excellent condition
Note that this does do up all the way on a girl it fits properly. Has a full built in corset that is cupped and boned and closes with hook & eye. The entire inner dress is lined in layers of silk organza all hand set. It closes with a hidden set zipper and hook and eye at the base of the zipper. It has some stretch so it really holds the wearer once on. Tagged a 40/XS

Really an exception Jean Patou that would have been designed while Karl Lagerfeld was in charge of the atelier during the early sixties. It is absolutely amazing and though not numbered is from the Atelier so is most likely a True Couture piece or at least a demi-couture dress but not the RTW line. A heavy chocolate silk is bias cut and has a nod to the twenties in its cut - a low low dropped waist seam suggest the flapper silhouette. Those spectacular balloon sleeves then give it a modern twist! The neck is high and simple and the skirt flows and swings perfectly! It comes with its original wide and long, long sash that you can belt, wear at the neck or even use turban style! Off the hanger one might think it a rather simple dress but once on it transforms - as all of the best cut dresses do! Excellent, appears unworn condition.I love it!
Fully lined in a fine deep chocolate brown silk. Hand finished inside to couture levels. Closes with a hand set, hidden painted metal zipper. Each cuff closes with fabric covered buttons and the button holes are properly finished - the cuffs even have little snaps so it sits just perfectly!

Amazing, amazing amazing entirely cut on the bias gown that you instantly identify without even having to think about it as a dress made during Galliano's period at Dior. Regardless of his recent downfall and appalling behavior he was at one time a pivotal designer in recent fashion history and was lauded with awards and honors based on his ability to cut a dress including the British Designer of the Year in 1987, 1994 and 1995. In 1997, he shared the award with Alexander McQueen, his successor at Givenchy. This gown certainly shows his ability to cut! A ribbed deep chocolate, silk velvet, is entirely cut on the bias in an almost spiral fashion. Curved and angled fabric creates his signature shaping to the body. The bodice drapes in a soft cowl that is slightly offset and the entire dress is suspended by a saddle weight leather strap that buckles into place. Excellent, appears unworn condition. Hand written label inside.

What an incredible Chanel piece! This came out of the estate of a very wealthy Texan who was mad for Chanel. She custom and special ordered many of her pieces, even RTW ones like this so they were in the exact combination she wanted and this is one of them. It still has the button and fabric swatch that she based her order on! Its classic Chanel and I love the red silk - it is of course very good quality silk and the weight of it allows the dress to drape fantastically! It is entirely pleated in long vertical pieces with a slight drop waist. It buttons at the from with gold toned metal buttons and it comes with its original Chanel belt that has a quirky set of extra "buckles" along the back. It is so chic and so classic and yet has a touch of sexiness too! One of my favorites! I have seen versions of the belt alone of these piece sell for over what I have this marked at! Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Lined with red silk through the skirt and unlined through the top. It closed with buttons down the front. Comes with an extra button and swatch of fabric that was was the original samples that the dress was made from - it was a custom order! The belt is original to the dress and has a hand written tag in the back with the order number.

A gorgeous and event worthy, perfect shade of green (much more vivid and truer green that how it photoed) one shoulder jersey gown by the infamous Travilla! Travilla is of course the genius behind Marilyn Monroe's Subway Grate dress from the movie - The Seven Year Itch. He was renowned for his pleat work and ability to drape a gown in a goddess like fashion and this dress is a perfect example of that. The soft pleat detail on the bust is hand placed and set to draw the eye toward that spectacular side keyhole. The keyhole is formed with a dense application of sequins in turquoise and gold that swoop up and over one shoulder and then down the side. Through the open circle this creates comes a swath of jersey that trails down one side. It gives the effect of the wearer being wrapped with the end of that wrap adding a touch of drama and chicness! The body of the dress is cut in a beautiful column of jersey. The jersey used is a good weight so feels solid when work but is still light enough to drape perfectly and really be flattering. If you love it in the photos you will be more pleased as the color and subtle texture of the cloth is better in person. Very Grecian goddess and very sexy. Excellent condition
Fully lined with the same jersey as the exterior. The bodice has a built in boned portion that is hidden under the lining. Closes with a hand set painted metal zipper. Very well made and has a good weight to it as a result but not unwieldy to wear. All of the sequins on the side knot detailing appear present. Hand finished inside

One of the best Ossie Clark designs ever done. This is yards and yards of printed silk. The sheer weight of this piece due to tall that fabric is astounding. It wraps to close and is cut to leave a dangerous amount of cleavage. I love the slight oriental kimono reference in the padded waist belt and I wish the camera could convey properly the insane amount of pleating that has been done at each hip.Emma Watson recently wore a version of this dress on the red carpet and it was used at a Shrimpton photo shoot. It truly is one of the best Ossies you could possibly own.

"Mariano Fortuny created a number of variations of his pleated silk gowns. In this model, he combined elements of the classical chiton and the peplos. A "tunic" is attached along its neckline to a long sleeveless underdress, suggesting the apoptygma of the classical peplos. This effect is further emphasized by the handkerchief points at either hip, which would have been seen on the sides of an authentic apoptygma. In the ancient Grecian peplos, the arm openings were positioned along the neckline edge rather than the sideseam edges. This resulted in a dipping hemline at either side of the garment when worn. Fortuny took this structural attribute and achieved the similar, purely decorative effect by cutting away at the tunic's front and back hem. Further, he interpreted the buttoned or pinned closings characteristic of a chiton's shoulder seams by connecting the topline seam of the tunic's sleeves with Venetian glass beads interlaced with silk "rat tail" cording. Fortuny was noted for his antiquarian intentions and scholarly treatment of classical dress, yet in the end, he invented rather than replicated a Hellenic style."
This peach version is a very fine Fortuny Peplos gown, circa 1907-1920. Hand dyed to an Apricot, the pleated silk has a corded silk drawstring at the neck, short kimono style sleeves and an attached tunic with pointed side panels all of which are weighted with clear, Venetian white striped beads. The gown is in very good condition. The silk is strong and wearable with no splits in the pleats. The pleats are intact throughout, with just the slightest of softening in the arm areas - please super size the photos to view. There is a slighte fading of the color in the upper arm area as well. Even the one from the MET seems to have the same softening of the pleats and color through the arm area and I believe this occurs partly from age and partly as a result of the pleats being moved more in this area when worn. All the beads are present. The color, style of sleeve and type of beads used place this in the very early years of Fortuny's career. There is no label present (this was not uncommon in the earlier pieces) but I have had it verified by the senior curator at the Royal Ontario Museum and guarantee it to be a Fortuny.
It is 56" long from the mid neck at the back to the hem and does not appear to be altered or changed in any way from its original condition.
Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Please purchase accordingly.

This gown was one of 40 pieces showcased and provided by Shrimpton Couture for the Fashion Television 25th Anniversary Party's 25 year Retrospective Catwalk show!
Alaia did this insane collection that knocked off the idea of a faux fur but its really a thick knitted plush fabric that's about an inch thick and feels and looks like nothing else on the planet. Its a completely unstructured jacket with a huge shawl collar that can be used as a hood. Alaia's hooded pieces are iconic. To find them is one of the holy grails of fashion and this one is perfect in every way! Style it a million ways and wear it over everything and anything. It seems heavy when you pick it up but is surprisingly light feeling when worn. Its a truly fantastic piece and a true one of a kind. A similar piece is shown on Tina Turner in the Alaia book! If you are an Alaia collector you probably just fainted. And rightly so. Part of me thinks I am crazy to even think of giving this treasure up - the girl that gets this one is very lucky indeed! Mint condition.

This dress is stunning! It is an early piece from Jean Muir and incorporates her love of using suede within her designs - you often see this in her earlier pieces. It is also extra special as a version of it was featured in an issue of British Vogue! The fabric is an amazing feather light silk chiffon upon which tiny bits of fringed fabric and silver lame thread are applied. The effect is quite fantastic and gives it a nice dimension. The fabric would have been custom made and created! The skirt is very full - there is actually quite a bit of material there and it is lined in a tissue silk. The bodice is loose and easy to fit. The sleeves are full with a 7.5" cuff that is detailed with a row of clear buttons. The highlight is of course the amazing suede banding at the waist and circling the collar. I love how the collar is scalloped and both the suede details top-stitched! It is fantastic and one of the best Muir's I have had. Before she hit her minimalist stride as a designer she did go through a bit of a chic hippie period and this bohemian showcases her earlier foray and experimentation with fabrics proves it! Excellent condition.
Shoulders: 14" flat across from seam to seam
Sleeves: 23" from shoulder seam to longest point
Bust: to 18" flat across the back the back from side seam to side seam
Waist: 13.5" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Hips: open
Bodice: 17" from shoulder seam to bottom of the suede band
Skirt length: 29" from bottom of the suede band to hem
The bodice of the dress is unlined while the skirt is fully lined in a chocolate tissue silk. It closes with clear buttons at the top of the neck and at the small of the back. There are no closures in-between the top and waist buttons so if you hit the right angle you see a glimpse of skin! It is freshly cleaned and it came out wonderfully. There is a very slight variation in the color of the suede but it is a combination of the nature of the suede, natural patina and way the pile of the suede lies. I do not consider this a flaw.

Rare runway Karl Lagerfeld dress that is numbered alongside the tag. My client has told me that this was the actual piece shown on the runway and it would have been shown in the late eighties, early nineties. I am trying to find a picture and will post if successful! A stretch knit jersey is cut in one long column. Big pockets sit low on each hip and are cut on a slight angle - one can just picture the model sauntering down the catwalk with her hands shoved in them. The front zips and a silk chiffon modesty panel can be snapped into place or tucked to one side if you want more skin to show. The collar is big and exaggerated. The back is killer with am inset panel of black silk chiffon so most of your back is left exposed and yet covered. The dress is in impeccable, mint condition and would fit a 2-6 as the fabric has a slight bit of stretch to it. A rare and highly collectible piece!
Iconic mini tank dress from the great Alaia. His forte is the ability to cut garments that cling like a second skin and yet somehow manage to nip and tuck and add curves in all the right places. This knit piece embodies everything that is great about Alaia and this particular pattern is one of the rarest and highest sought after for collectors. A deep charcoal base has rows of white bars woven through to create a subtle 3D ribbed texture. The black and white combination is classic and it is a dress that will never go out of style. All labels are present. This piece (or it's twin) was photoed on Linda Evanglista and was pictured with Azzedine himself!
An incredible piece of history, this museum quality gown is an unbelievable find. Jeanne Paquin was French and one of the first great couturiers. She trained as a dressmaker under Rouff and opened her own salon in 1891. She was the first woman to do this making her quite remarkable for that fact alone! She was known for her pastel garnished evening gowns. She did a series of dresses suited for the tango - she apparently was fascinated by Spain and this may have been made for a spanish aristocrat of the day.
The gown is made from two pieces - the main dress is silk netting over a silk base. The bodice is a fine nude silk onto which an elaborate netted skirt is attached. The upper portion of the skirt is solidly beaded with tubular glass beads done in rows that fan out in ever widening panels. Each panel changes from that solid beading to a fan design on rhinestone ones. The underskirt is black silk. The top is a simple short tank that slips over the head. It is also silk netting completely covered in pearl colored glass beads sewn in rows.
The piece has a Paquin tag and a separate numbered ribbon along an inside seam (it's partially under the silk - I took out s stitch to photo it and then replaced it as was). I would class the condition as near mint for its age and fabrication. There are a few small areas where someone has tightened and reinforced the netting but most look to have be done long ago and was done expertly. Though it would be strong enough to wear with care and love, it really should be treated as a collectible piece and stored properly and handled appropriately. It is am amazing, irreplaceable and important piece of fashion history.
Rabanne was quoted in 1966 to have said, "I defy anyone to design a hat, coat or dress that hasn't been done before...The only new frontier left in fashion is the finding of new materials" and so he began to design a range of dresses using plastics, metals and alloys. All of which are infamous, rare and extremely collectible now.
These kits were the epitome of his "rebellion" against traditional fashion are are very hard to come by in their original state The discs are silver metallic finished plastic and the rings are gold metal. The kit contains 750 discs, 1300 rings, the Paco Rabanne metal tag, and two pliers.
From the best of what I can research these kits were issued in 1996. I have been told and heard accounts that there are earlier kits but the only verifiable account I can find is the 1996 references as the only real release of these kits. From what I have been able to find I don't believe that these kits where even issued at all prior to that despite what you might read here and there. So this is being sold as that. If I am wrong and its earlier then you are getting an even better bargain!
Note the the kit seems entirely intact but the suitcase does show cracking and wear.
The resulting dress this kit makes is similar to the ones pictured here, I believe that it will end up a size 4-6 from the research I have done.
Sybil Connolly pieces are very rare things and this fantastic hand crocheted cape is one of two that I believe where made and the only other example is not labeled as this one is and a slightly different length. Hand done from a thick black yarn, it is tightly knitted/crocheted to form a full cape that has open work deign near the hem The same open work pattern is picked up at the elaborate and dramatic hood that can been worn up or down to create a full and striking collar. There are two big snaps to close at the neck and these are hidden under the yarn work as not to break the line. It is fairly heavy and has a decided arts and crafts, raw feel about it - very primal and earth. Its really a striking and rare piece. Connolly was an Irish designer that is renowned for using and bringing to the forefront, crochet, linens, yarns and laces in unusual ways in a time when these where not typically fashionable fabrics. Here pieces are very hard to find. Excellent condition. Item# C86
Bergdorf's salon in the twenties was one of the epi-center of New York fashion and the place that well-heeled women flocked to for the best of Paris fashion. This is a rare and stunning example of the high deco period and would have originated in France. The exterior is one of the best example of lame from that period that I have ever seen. Real gold metallic threading make up the floral relief but it is the subtle shots of blue that are woven through the design that is just extraordinary. It was most likely done by hand and specifically for this coat. The mutton sleeves are exaggerated and full and the cut and combination of lame and velvet is quite beautiful. And attached collar again blends the velvet and lame and is cut so a small attached scarf can be swung jauntily around the neck. I would have loved to have known the woman who purchased this coat. She must have been extraordinary. Its in excellent condition and truly one of the most wonderful things I have had.
Coty award winner, Michaele Vollbracht, designed under his own name for just 6 short years making his designs rare and collectible things. He is renowned for his customs prints on rightly hued silks and his pieces are a pleasure both the wear and to look at - they really are wearable art! This set is amazing, so easy to wear and a real statement piece! The top is a poncho like, caped swatch of silk. It is all one piece with a neckline cut out and piped and the natural drape allows the sides to hang lower then the middle when on. I love this draped, caftan look - it is wonderfully fluid and sexy. The skirt wraps closes and is a single spectacular piece of silk that is finished and piped at its edges. The print is amazing. It would be a customs painted print that was then screened to create this one of a kind fabric. On each of those black brushstrokes, glossy black sequins have been hand applied for just a touch of glitz. It's in immaculate condition and a wonderful, highly wearable and highly collectible set!

It's always an honor to have pieces of couture in your hands and this late seventies, early eighties set is fantastic! My client swears it was featured in Vogue at the time but so far I have not been able to track it down (if you have that issue please send me a picture!) It is two pieces - a almost military feel jacket paired with peasant cut skirt. This look was madly popular at the time and this is an incredible example of it constructed to the highest standards. The body of the jacket is a rich black silk velvet and it closes across the high collar and then down one side with gorgeous gold and black enamel metal buttons. The waist nips in. The sleeves are masterpieces in themselves - billowing textured, screened silk chiffon is set in tight flat pleats so that they pouf extravagantly above a narrow zippered 6" cuff. The skirt is the same pattern as the sleeves but done in a fine wool challis. It is flat pleated around the waist and then these let out to give it the fullness to balance the jacket. The hem of the skirt is finished with a strip of cotton velvet so has that tiny perfect bit of weight that make it drape perfectly. The inside is a study in perfection - hand set silk lining and immaculately seamed. Excellent condition and a true piece of fashion history.

This set, from the same estate, is also a rare and wonderful Beene that is in mint condition and I doubt was even worn. It is constructed from miles and miles of a slinky silk mix jersey that has a fantastic weight to it and drapes beautifully. The top is a simple Tee that has seaming along the top of the arms and then under and down the side only. This creates a wonderful minimalist effect and it's insanely sexy. The skirt is amazing. Super model length it is cut on the bias and the amount of fabric in it are astounding. Its is seamed to mid hip, so you step into it and then a long long tie wraps around, loops through and cinches. I love the way he constructed the waistline on this one with a wider panel and then soft pleating that comes out form each side. This is just insanely fabulous! And the small unseen when worn detail that makes this? Both the top and skirt has a tiny label hand sewn in that say front. Just a courtesy for the fabulous girl that wears it of course. One can picture Beene throwing his hands up and saying - no no you have it on backwards ...and then having the labels sewn in so his masterpiece is worn properly! Mint and fabulous!
This is an amazing suit from the Yves Saint Laurent label that dates to the F/W 1989 runway. I have included a photo that shows the same fabric in blue that was used for the presentation that year. The fabric is absolutely stunning and takes center stage on this piece. Both the jacket and skirt are constructed from a metallic silk brocade done in a vivid hues of pink with shots of a brilliant metallic green running through it. It is also interesting as it builds on the ideas from the the collection he did in tribute to Pierre Bonnard for Fall-Winter 1988. It is cut perfectly in that Yves way, with strong shoulders, a wide notched lapel and classic double button front. Two top seamed pockets sit just below the waist. Large gold metal buttons close the jacket and four smaller versions finish each cuff. Each of the buttons on the sleeve are there for decorative purposes only, however, each still has a proper finished buttonhole underneath - I love that attention to detail!. The skirt is stunning. It wraps and closes at the side with four of those same huge gold buttons with a flash of leg seen underneath. One scooped pocket sits on one hip. Excellent condition.
Both pieces are fully lined in a fine, high quality pink silk. The jacket closes with the gold toned metal buttons as shown and the skirt closes with the same huge gold buttons and a large flat hook & eye at the waist.
