The early little black jersey dresses that Ceil Chapman made on the late 40s and early 50s are some of the best examples of her work out there. This piece is seriously extraordinary and I hope that girl that decides to make it hers truly will love and cherish it. These arely Chapman pieces are very hard to come by and you can see the master draping techniques she employed in this piece. Made of a very early silk knit jersey the fabric is very fluid and drapes perfectly. The bodice is completely gathered in soft pleats held in place by the vertical stitching that run down the front. I love the gathered sleeves that carry the ruched feel down each arm. The looped pleating technique that create the front and back panels is incredibly beautiful and has that art deco, architectural feel to them. The panels give the dress movement and ease as you move. It does not have its Ceil Chapman label but it is absolutely a Chapman. Just a really extraordinary piece that is highly collectible and in excellent condition.
Beautifully lined in a combination of black tissue silk and a wide band of heavier cotton muslin at the hem and bodice to properly weight it and hold the proper shape. It closes with a back painted metal zipper.

I have seen this dress attributed to Suzy Perette but also have seen it attributed to more minor designers and since this one has no tag I cannot say for sure who the original designer was. It is certainly well made enough to be a Perette and is a lovely little dress regardless. Made of a beautiful grade, black silk taffeta for the skirt and a velvet at the top. The front is cut simply so the bodice is nicely fitted to the body. The waist nips in over a full skirt and is set high up under the bust. The skirt is full and has the perfect amount of fullness that allows you wear it with or without a crinoline and not be too overwhelmed by volume (shown with a light crinoline under it here that is not included). The "coffin drape" ruching and gathers that the skirt has is of course the highlight of the dress and gives it incredible texture and an almost "goth" feel yet the lies and fabrics keep it from being too dark in feel. Its a little beauty! Excellent condition.
Fully interlined in a black silk and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Styled here with a light crinoline underneath that is not included. It can easily be worn without one and still has volume.

Absolutely stunning lightweight silky rayon "Purrjama" dress that has the most beautiful soft and romantic floral design hand screened in soft feminine pinks, lavenders and just a touch of blue green on a soft pink base. It is incredible to think that this little beauty would have originally been intended to be worn as lingerie as it makes for a beautiful little dress for a modern girl. It is constructed form long lean individual panels set vertically and curved slightly to create the pretty flared shape of the dress. the collar is wide and pointed and each shoulder a delightful pouf. It zips to close up the front with a brass zipper so you can wear it closed tot he neck or open to show a touch of skin. It is truly a beautiful little early dress. Excellent condition.
Unlined and closes at the front with a brass zipper.

Great little pieces from the sixties are always an amazing addition to a modern girls wardrobe. There is just something about them that really makes them hold up and stand against modern pieces and they are easy to make feel modern with the correct styling. This particular dress is fabulous. Its made of a woven metallic brocade that has weight enough to hold its fantastic shape and lines, but is not so thick as to feel awkward or uncomfortable when on the body. The colors are lovely - a pastel versions of a soft pinky salmon coral mixed through with gold and silver with a pale pink metallic thread thrown in the mix. The cut is simple, long sleeves and has a nice, dramatic little A-line flare as it nears the hem. The neck line is cut high but wide and I love the padding that is edged in silver lame thread that circles the neck, cuffs and hem. It really adds a shot of glamor. Excellent condition.

I absolutely adore this dress and am already jealous of the girl that will be able to wear it. It is so unusual for the time period with its use of a lurex thread knit fabric in this shaped and length. The fabric is amazing - super light weight knit with silver threading worked through the black base to give it a metallic glint from shoulder to hem. The top has a high neck with a wide tie attached at its front. The waist is highlighted with an attached belt and the skirt flares out gently to just past the knee. Each sleeve puffs out above the sequin detailed cuff. Onto the poufed area is a dense floral design made of silver and black sequins. Excellent condition
Fully lined through the body in a silky rayon and closes with a back painted metal zipper. A missing sequin here and there on the cuffs but nothing that overly detracts.

I have had a version of this dress before but never one that still retained with it its matching coat. It is really a rare and unusual set that has a witty trompe l'oiel handbag made of bead work and faux pearls on the dress. Made to appear as if a beaded evening bag sits over the shoulder and down the side, the entire design is completely hand beaded onto the dress. A ring of beads also circle each cuff. On the coat, the neckline also is encircled in beads as is each cuff. The dress is self is cut in a generous A-line shift and the coat is also cut on a generous A-line. The base fabric on both is a black slub silk mix and I love the pop of red rhinestones that sit in and amongst the faux pearls and beads. The lucky girl who gets this will be very pleased indeed! It is truly a special piece that can be worn together or broken up and worn separately for more versatility. Excellent condition
Both pieces are lined - the dress in a black silk and the coat in a burgundy silk that has quilting around the inner edges. The dress closes with a back painted metal zipper and the coat closes with hidden buttons. It looks like someone added an extra row of button holes - perhaps to adjust where they sit a little - but because they are hidden under the front edge you don't see this and they look to have been professionally done in any case.

This is a fantastic sixties kimono-esque wrapped caftan that is quite wonderful. The green used is a deep deep olive and that combined with the pop of orange used on the applique and embroidery work that detail the front, neck and sleeves makes for a fabulous combination. The sleeves are wide and very full and the body of the caftan is cut loose and easy. This one wraps and button into place at the front - which is a little more unusual then a standard, over-the-head version. The fabric is a light cotton so even though there are yards and yards of it it does not feel heavy when on but loose and easy to wear. This can easily go form the beach to day wear to evening. It's brilliant! Excellent condition
Unlined and wraps and buttons to close with a series of buttons hidden inside (pictured) and on the exterior. The embroidery and cotton applique work appear to be done by hand. The cotton is light weight and there are some very minor variations and discoloration in the shade of green here and there - I feel this is a combination of natural patina and the fabric choice used (its hand dyed). It just makes it feel more authentically vintage and fabulous in my opinion. The loose cut can fit a variety of sizes

Stunning, fine silky rayon printed 1940s dress is in museum quality and is a real beauty. The cut and design are beautiful - it is loose through the body and skim your curves but has a matching tie belt that you can cinch in the waist with. It has a fantastic huge grey scale leaf and branch print on the gorgeous green back drop. The cut is so easy to wear - a loose fitting bodice tops a wide cut skirt that gently flares out as it nears the hem. I love the ruffles that ring the neck and shoulders and how this same ruffle detail is used to finish the hem. It is a tremendous example of the workmanship and extraordinary thought that went into dresses during that time period. A wonderful piece to wear now! Excellent condition
The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear. Note that there is a small hole right under where the belt sits (so does not show when belted at all) its about the size of a cigarette ash burn. Priced accordingly. The very loose and easy cut when not belted will allow it to fit a large variety of sizes.

An amazing 1970s caftan for the beach that is the epitome of hippie chic. Looking like it could have been worn by Talitha Getty this is an amazing and easy to wear piece. A classic Indian cotton caftan has a gorgeous print hand blocked over its surface and this paired with a dramatic shape and cut make it a must have. Love the squared off neckline that dips on both the front and back. Running through the waist is a black cord tie that wraps around you inside and creates some shape at the front. You can cinch it in for more definition and gathers at the waist or leave super loose and full. It is amazing and a great original piece. Excellent condition!
Unlined and slips on to wear. A ties goes around you inside the caftan and then comes put at the front and ties so you can adjust and add some shape. The sides are partially closed with a seam that runs about 12" in from the outer edges under the opening for the arm.

I have seen this dress somewhere in the past attributed to Valentino but have never been able to verify that so I am hesitant to attribute it as such. If it is then the person who buys it is getting a fantastic bargain! It certainly is of a quality to be from the designer and is quite beautiful. The sequins appear to be completely hand applied and when you see the dress in person the work and density of the sequin coverage blows you away. They are densely packed and I love the curving "stain glass" feel to the design. A border of yellow and pink edge the neckline and hem. Soft blue is broken up with black and a scattering of flowers rings the hem for the perfect pop of bright color. The shape is a classic shift that widens as it nears its hem so it is very easy to wear and comfortable. This one is especially beautiful because of the colors and intricacy of the design. Really super piece. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a pale blue silk and closes with a back painted metal zipper. The sequins appear to be all applied by hand. There are a few missing sequins on one shoulder but this does not detract in anyway. Priced accordingly

Simple and perfect little fifties black with it's cut outs through which a nude color peeks out, is the perfect soring and summer dress when you want to have that Audrey Hepburn vibe. I love the high boat neck that gives the shoulders such a flattering line. Simple sleeves end just below the elbow and the bodice is fitted and nips in. This combines with the flare of the skirt helps create the illusion of a teeny tiny waistline. At the back as well there is a sexy little V that dips and exposes the upper back. The skirt flares out and is quite full. I have put a crinoline under it so you can see the fullness, or you can wear it without. Its is very pretty and its cotton lace cut out design makes it unusual and a real find - when up close you see a series of curved open "circles", but from afar these for lines and a more graphic feel. Excellent condition.

Made from an amazing early rayon jersey that is cut on the bias so has a touch of stretch to it, this dress is just wonderful. It appears to have been stored properly for all these years as the color is as crisp and vibrant as the day it was made! The design is stunning. A beautiful floral design is done in a brilliant combination of pink and yellow. Its an unusual color combination for this time period and really something special. The cut is simple and sweet with a dipped neckline and soft gathered pleating along each shoulder. The waist nips in with attached ties that you can use to cinch it in further. There is a curved panel of fabric on each side that is built in for a suggestion of a hip peplum without any of the bulk that a true on would give you. The skirt is cut swing style and gently curves away from the more fitted hip area. The front has a row of three large early plastic buttons that look like twisted licorice and are fabulous. Really a spectacular and special piece. Presents as excellent condition.
Unlined and closes with a side metal zipper. There is slight color run near the seam under each arm but it does not show when on and does not detract at all because of the print.

This little beauty is so well made I am sure it is a designer piece but somewhere along the way it has lost all its labels. The work on it is wonderful with hand rolled and finished edges and you can tell by the pattern that the design was well thought out. It has a definite Hanae Mori vibe to it and I feel certain that one day I will be emailing the new owner to let them know I have found evidence of its true heritage! Made of floating layers of silk chiffon with a print that starts in a soft pink at the top and deepens to a vivid cherry, then purple and finally a green and block design around the hem. Each sleeve is a single, wide layer of chiffon and set low into the sides of the dress. The outer chiffon bodice floats over an inner more fitted piece. The skirt is a single layer of chiffon but set into the waist in a series of soft gathers so is very full. It sweeps to the floor in a beautiful cascade of silk and color. An attached gathered sash cinches in the waist for added shape and balance. It is so pretty in person. Excellent condition.
The upper portion of the dress has a built in pink crepe inner bodice. The skirt has an inner black silk taffeta skirt under the chiffon layer (the hip measurement given is of the lining - if you needed more room it would be an easy alteration to add or replace the lining to accommodate). It closes with a back hidden set painted metal zipper. All the edges are hand finished.

This little embroidered dress with its nod to the tradition Mexican dress is a beauty. I especially love the pop of color with that bib of embroidery that covers the bodice. It is just so pretty. The base fabric a texture to it and has little strips of a cotton ribbon lace separating the panels. These give an extra bit of texture to the dress. The front is notched quite deep at the center and I love the wide bell finish to each sleeve. These mimic the wideingin curve of the skirt with each tier being wider then the one above it. Little colored looped yarn in the same colors as the bodice design are used to separate each tier and edge the sleeves as well. Everything about this dress is beautiful. Excellent condition

Very fine, high end silk was used to create this stunning, single shoulder, gorgeous dress and jacket from the late 1950s. The silk has an exotic sari feel to it and I love the gold thread used to create the beautiful curved design that runs over its entirety. During this time period India held a great fascination as it opened to the Western world. Pieces made specifically for the Western market began to be bright back by tourists and these were made of beautiful, traditional silks crafted into more Western cuts like this dress and jacket. The blue is a deep sea blue turquoise and curved gold medallions are woven directly into the silk. The neckline and hem of the dress are bordered in a band of gold with a more dense pattern and this same detailing runs down the front of the jacket and rings the cuffs. I love how the hugs the body and has that side slit. Contrasting this sexy cut is a more formal box cut jacket. It is beautifully made and very light. Very sexy. Excellent condition

This is a full length maxi dress is just fabulous. It has no label and that fact does not really even matter as its a stand out all on its own. Made of what feels like a cotton knit I love the texture the fabric has and that amazing bright, almost neon tomato red color with its orange undertone. The edges are scalloped around the neckline and the cuffs. The fit is long lean with sleeves that widen and curve as they reach the cuff and the skirt cut to widen out at the hem. If you have the right body type for this piece, this is sure to be one of your absolute favorite pieces ever. Of course it is that open weave, cut out pattern that rings the neck and goes across the waist leaving sexy glimpses of skin that puts this dress over the top. It is pure sexiness! Finding the perfect little fifties printed sun dress in that crisp 50s cotton is such a treat. This little beauty is done in delicious summer shades of white and yellow anchored with a fine black line that allows the pattern on the fabric to really pop. The combination of sunny yellows and white would be the perfect choice for a hot summer day. The skirt is quite full with beautiful little gathered pleats through the waist to give it that fullness. You can wear it on its own or add a little shape and volume as I have here by putting a light crinoline underneath. The top is kept simple with a cut that fits to a tee. The neckline is cut straight across and the shoulders straps create a great angular shape. It is absolutely adorable. Excellent condition

What a fantastic and beautiful fifties dress that works equally well for day or evening. These are getting harder and harder to find and this one is a real beauty. It is as feminine and romantic as you could wish for. The fabric is slightly textured silky rayon that has a sharkskin effect which gives it a beautiful iridescent quality to it in the light. Over this is a pattern of flowers that are embroidered in a darker green onto the fabric and done in a way that highlights the cut of the dress. The skirt is wonderfully full - it was shot with a light crinoline underneath to give you an idea of just how full it is and so that you can see the extent of the pleat work. I love how those exacting knife pleats are deliberately placed to give the skirt volume but also left off at the very front so you don't add size to the person wearing it. It moves wonderfully and you can of course wear it without a crinoline too. The bodice is the same fabric that is shaped and boned with a scalloped, strapless bust line. This same soft scalloping is how the skirt is finished as well. Such a romantic touch. Really outstanding and just a beautiful dress in every way. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a silky rayon and is lightly boned through the top. It closes with a painted back metal zipper and hook & eye. The crinoline used for styling purposes is not included. Hand finished.

This fabulous late 50s, early 60s coat could be straight off the runway for fall 2015, Miu Miu's in particular as you can see from the photos I have included of the recent runway show. It is actually remarkable how similar the peices are in cut and feel. The only big difference is of course the price, from what I can ascertain the Miu Miu pieces will be prices well over 15k so you are certainly getting the same look for significantly less. The coat is so chic and fresh feeling with its loose cut and slouchy feel. It literally will fit like the photos you see of the runway pieces. The skins used are still supple and soft with minimum aging or wear. The collar is simple and neat and the front closes with huge buttons that have a snake skin center. A flap pocket sits on each hip and I love how these are dropped and add to the slouchy, cool feel the cut of the coat gives it. It is cut generously through the body so is great for layering. It is a good light weight and feels amazing on. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a black silky rayon and buttons to close with three buttons at the front. The skins are in excellent condition as is the lining

The dress is so adorable. It is made from in rich cream fabric that has a floral bouquet pattern woven through its surface. The dress itself is strapless and fitted with a pointed bodice, nipped in waist and fitted skirt that lands just above the knee. Over this ties a skirt overlay that is made of yards and yards of a matching fabric. It is cut almost apron like with an opening at the front and it simply ties into place and is sized so that you get an opening down the front so you can see the dress under it and also see your legs. You could probably get clever and style it to wear in a variety of ways - with the tie at the side or back, or you can get clever and use it as a top tier or a cape. Really unusual and cute. Excellent condition.
The dress is lined in a matching color silky rayon and closes with a backpainted metal zipper. The bodice is lightly boned. The skirt is unlined and ties into place.

What a gorgeous gold metallic brocade dress that has a really unusual color play worked into the fabric! The fabric is a good weight brocade that is heavy enough that the dress can keep that slightly sculpted shape, but it is not so heavy that is feel uncomfortable on or unwieldy to wear. It is an incredible mix of gold and black and has huge metallic blossoms worked over its surface. In the center of each blossom blue and pink metallic threads lay under the white thread weave in each petals center and this creates a really pretty and unusual effect. The neckline is high with a rounded cut. The sleeves are incredible and widen as their near the cuffs and each ends in a point that is cut longer then the rest of the sleeve. The bodice skims over the body and from there flares out on an angle to create that dramatic shape. The gold brocade gives it a fabulous rich feel and in person it has a much more overall metallic gold feel that really pops in the light. Excellent condition.

This is the most amazing two piece set in a stunning cream lace with shots of gold thread highlighting the floral design worked through the lace. With this seasons emphasis on all things seventies and sixties this set is perfect for that girl who has a little bit of wild child in her. The pants are flat fronted with an elastic running through the waist for comfort and easy fit. Each leg is wide with a slight curved bell bottom flare and are cut to sit just above the ankle. What I lvoe most about them though is the fact that they are semi-transparent and left unlined except for a built in "hot pants" at the very top of them. The tunic is equally as fabulous. It glides over the waist and flares out at the hips to mimic the shape of the pant legs. The neckline is cut in a V. Each sleeve has been left unlined so you get that same effect as the pants and they are finished with a full ruffle of fabric at each cuff. It is insanely gorgeous and the photos are not capturing the play on transparency that the pants and sleeves have that play against the lined tunic. Wear together or break them up and mix in with your modern wardrobe. You can also wear the tunic as a micro mini. Excellent condition
The tunic is lined through the body in a cream silky rayon and the sleeves are unlined. It closes at the back with painted metal zipper. The pants are lined to cover the bottom torso only, the legs are unlined. They have an elastic at the waist and slip on.

This is an incredible jumpsuit from the sixties that is exquisitely made and very chic with an extravagant, over the top feel. Made of a silk organza that has a heavy working of gold thread worked through it in a swirling pattern on a base of golds and corals. The effect is a soft muted gold from head to toe. The top is sleeveless so you get a nice balance to the wide legs and it is cut loose and easy with a draped effect over the waist. Each leg is cut wide and full so initially you think it is a maxi dress but it has the ease and comfort of a pant. I love how the fabric is gently gathered into the neckline and the actual collar is accented with gold braiding and a scattering of colored rhinestones and gold beads. It is amazing and I love it! Excellent, appears unworn condition

An amazing late forties, early fifties dress that makes a pretty, yet dramatic statement. The top is made from a slinky black silk jersey that is gathered and softly pleated to really show off the bodice. The seams are cut so that you get that pin up, cinch waist feel. I love it and I love the sexy plunge on both the front and back. The skirt is wonderful - it is made of three layers over top each other. The innermost layer is a nude silky rayon taffeta. This is topped with a layer of tulle net and then the top layer is a black chiffon. What is remarkable is that the "lace" is actually fine bits of a chenille velvet fused onto the chiffon and creating the illusion of lace. The skirt is cut classically full full full and I have photoed it over a crinoline so you really get the beauty of it (crinoline not included). It is gorgeous! Excellent overall condition.
The bodice is lined in a black silky rayon and the skirt in a nude rayon. It closes with a back metal zipper. There is slight wear to to the chenille fused on the skirt here and there but nothing that detracts - this is normal aging and I don't feel it's a flaw.

A stunning kimono in a very pretty and soft print and color. The combination if the soft dove grey with tiny [ops of a deep red mixed with the white that makes up the blocked print has a very romantic feel to it. The design covers the entire kimono, running down each sleeve and across the front, back and interior. The upper half of the interior has a pale cream & pastel pink and blue patterned silk inset that also lines the sleeves. The work is very fine and is just so unusual. You can wrap these and belt them so that you to be able to wear it as a mini dress or tunic, or use it as a light evening coat. They really are versatile and a great way to work a bit of vintage into your wardrobe. Excellent condition
Partially lined in a cream and pastel patterned silk through the upper half and inside of the sleeves. Hand stitching finishes. The kimono cut will allow this to fit a variety of sizes but please check the measurements below to be sure. Supermodel length, spectacular wrap seventies cotton batik print dress is a knock out that you will want to grab time after time. This is so well made and feels so easy to wear and yet at the same time has a touch of high glamor. I have seen these in shorter lengths but this is the first I have seen to have this amazing skirt to the floor. The skirt falls from the waist in a long, dramatic swoop that gets wider as it nears the floor. It skims over the hips and then there are just yards and yards of that beautifully printed fabric by the time you reach the hem. The bodice t is just spectacular - each side of the bodice extends into a very long tie and then you can wrap these as you wish to create a more halter feel, a sexy strapless option or really cinch in the waist. It is fabulous! Excellent condition
Unlined and the skirt closes with a painted metal zipper at the back. The top wraps and ties and you can tie it a couple of different ways.

A really wonderful late forties, early fifties bombshell of a dress that is made of a inky black silk crepe that is then completely covered in tightly spaced rows of fringe! with little bows embroidered through the fabric. The fringed rows sit atop each other in a layered pattern from top to bottom and the movement this creates every time you move is just fabulous! The top is kept simple and sexy with tiny straps for the shoulders and a simple bodice. The waist nips in to give you that coveted hourglass shape and the skirt is fitted and lean so your every curve is accentuated. Wonderfully constructed and certainly not your basic little black dress. Fringe is the detail of the season and an original dress with it head to toe is a great find. Excellent condition!

The needlework done on this caftan is fantastic - the colors absolutely pops off of the black jersey background and there is an incredible amount of work on it. The caftan is cut long and lean and has a medium weight to it - light enough so it does not feel bulky but with enough weight to hold the shape. I love the dramatic panels of hand done needlepoint embroidery work that runs all the way down each side and across the entire front panel in huge breastplate. Each sleeve has the design trailing down it and then circling the cuff. As shape is a simple column that as it nears the hem it widens out a bit. It has a great exotic feeling and really makes a dramatic statement. I love the contrasting design that is little rectangles of color one after another too - really a fabulous touch. Excellent condition

What a beautiful example of the early swing or day dress as it evolved form the more tubular flapper to a more fitted silhouette. Made of a bias cut, silky rayon that is that perfect early rayon fabric that feels so good and hold color and cut perfectly. The cut is fantastic with the sleeves cut to puff above a prettily tied wrist gather. The bodice is loose and easy and the front cut in a V and accented by a bow at its base. The dress looks like a two piece but is truly a dress with a printed top and black, bias cut silk rayon skirt. The skirt is cut and pieced in panels, all bias cut and this gives the dress a real hour glass shape as it drapes over your curves. A pretty floral print covers the surface of the upper bodice for a wonderful contrast and surprisingly modern feel. Present as excellent condition but please read condition notes below.
Unlined and slip over the head with no closures. Each cuff ties and there is an attached decorative tie at the neck as shown. Note that there is a slight smudging/running of color of the print under each arm from heat there. It is otherwise in sound, fine condition. Please super-size to see the photo provided. Priced accordingly and when on this is not seen.

What a pretty bias cut, hand screened silk chiffon flapper dress this one is. The colors are a pretty mix of brown with the florals done in brighter colors that really pop off the background. It is constructed from almost weightless silk chiffon that allows the entire dress to have a very light and airy feel. This one is seamed so that the shape and seams create a tubular feel with an almost "sack" style looseness to it. A belt that is original to the dress gives just a hint of shape - it would have been meant to be worn loose and low on the hip during the period but could be cinched now if you wish. It is extraordinarily lovely and wearable with care. These where meant to float over a smaller frame so keep that in mind and allow a little extra in the measurements. A truly beautiful dress and wonderful example of the textiles from this era. Excellent condition. The dress is unlined and slips over the head. Hand finished. It is in what I would consider excellent shape with no real flaws to note. The silk appears sound and wearable. The belt is a simple slip buckle so can be adjusted to any size. Please remember that pieces of this age will have a natural patina and should not be expected to be absolutely perfect (though this is close)! It is after all almost 100 years old!

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. This is such a great dress! It is completely covered in glossy sequins so densely spaced that the sit overlapping each other. The entire surface is covered in sequins with a black base and abstract shapes in bight colors worked through. I love the pops of almost neon color with the yellow and orange strips. The edges of each pattern and the neck and sleeves are finishes with rows of gold seed beads. It has a high neck and the sleeves are cut short but really wide so sit in an interesting way once on. It skims over the body past the hips to just above the knee. Fabulous and fun. I suspect it is a Swee Lo but it only has its Neiman Marcus tag left. Excellent condition.

What a glorious 1940s swing dress! These are getting harder and harder to find and to find a jewel like this one is just wonderful to have. The fabric is a deep burgundy moss crepe that drapes wonderfully when on. The bodice is cut to have a slightly looser drape and the that "ruffled" pleat detail that details the bodice and waist is just outstanding. The skirt is lean with just a bit of volume as it nears the hem for that perfect swing cut. It has a wonderful flat pleat detail that runs down the center front so when you dance and twirl it opens up a bit more. Really beautiful and very well done. The design is spectacular. Each shoulder has light padding and the cuffs at each wrist is wide and deep. A pretty cluster of velvet flowers sits on the shoulder and is the perfect chic finish. This dress is everything you want in a 1940s piece and is a real jaw dropper. Excellent condition.
Unlined and closes with a side metal zipper. The tightly spaced, fabric covered buttons that run down the front are functional. Each cuff closes with the same tightly spaced, fabric covered buttons. It is more os a true wine burgundy in person

This stunning dress is almost certainly an unlabelled Malcolm Starr. My client is sure that it had that label at one time and I have a very similar one that is shorter in my archives so am quite confident that it is indeed a Starr. The fabric is a fabulous metallic thread with an underlying pretty pattern under the gold thread that is woven through the fabric! The color is amazing - it is a stunning combination of corals with little pops of other colors in and under the gold. The bodice skims over the torso with darling little capped sleeves and the skirt cascades to the floor in a widening swath of fabric. The silk used is lightweight and the fabric really holds the shape of the skirt beautifully. I love the flat gold braiding that finishes the neckline, waist and each sleeve. Really a lovely piece! Excellent condition.

Wonderful 1960s hostess gown has an amazing caftan vibe. A texture cotton mix has a cross hatch of fine gold thread woven through it for a subtle bit of golden glint. Then a bright floral design has been worked through the fabric in lovely bright hues. This really gives it an interesting and unusual texture that I love! It is cut caftan style with an A-line cut through the body that widens dramatically as it nears the hem. The sleeves mimic this and also widen as they near the wrist. The neck is high and scooped and the front embellished with a thick gold cord and braided cord detailing. Each sleeve has the same gold cord circling it. Very chic. It was a little big on my mannequin - on the proper size girl it will sit and move far better then how it photoed. Excellent condition!

This late 50s, perhaps early 1960s Japanese furisode kimono is a stunning textile. These are often displayed and it is easy to see why as it is extraordinary beautiful. The silk has a stunning scene created from a combination of embroidery and hand dyed techniques, floating across its surface. It is very long in length. The furisode was worn by unmarried Japanese women who would pull them up and then belt them at the proper length for them with an Obi. It is a good weight but not cumbersome and the work is of very good quality. The colors are bright and true and the embroidery work fine. Behind the embroidery you can see how the fabric has been hand dyed. A second layer runs all around the edges for contrast. Everything is hand finished and both layers of the hem are lightly padded. Beautiful! Excellent condition.

This late 50s, perhaps early 1960s Japanese wedding kimono is a stunning textile. These are often displayed and it is easy to see why as it is extraordinary beautiful. The silk has a stunning scene of golden cranes, the symbol of happiness and eternal youth, floating across its surface. It is very long in length and the hem padded. It would have been worn open over another garment with the glorious back trailing behind. It is very heavy and of very good quality. The colors are bright and true and the embroidery work fine. Behind the embroidery you can see how the fabric has been hand dyed and goes from a solid red to a washed pink to the cream silk at the bottom. The hem is the same red as the interior. Beautiful! This amazing 1960s silk chiffon caftan has no designer label but I strongly suspect that it once did. The workmanship is very fine and the quality high. It has a spectacular rainbow design set amongst a vivid pink and purple print on feather light silk chiffon. The cut has that draped, goddess, flowing feel to it that is so easy to wear and looks so amazing when on. I love that the inner dress is entirely separate and really gives you two caftans in one. That inner piece is an opaque raw silk in a bright pink and the same easy caftan cut. Over this a floating caftan of printed silk chiffon sits and through the fabric run gold lame thread accent. It has high slits up each side and each sleeves widens as it nears the cuff. I love the effect that the two pieces sitting over each other create with the braided edges each has. An amazing find and how can you not feel amazing wearing rainbows? Excellent condition
The inner silk caftan dress serves as the lining. It slips on to wear. It could easily be adjusted for a smaller girl or subbed out for a larger. The caftan overlay slips on and buttons down the front.

Wenjilli dresses have a bit of a cult following and if a long body hugging metallic knit dress is your thing - well once you discover this brand you are hooked forever. I know girls who have dozens of them tucked away as they are a fail safe, chic and sexy choice every time. Made of a metallic silvered black, light weight knit, this dress is made to act like a second fabulous, glittering skin (it has more of a glittering obsidian undertone that does not fully come across in the pictures - it is really amazing!). It skims over your curves and hugs you in all the right places. It is long, long, long so be prepared to wear your highest stacked heels if you are not supermodel tall! (it does shrink up a little - the knit is done on a bias so adjusts to your curves) I love the pattern worked into the knit and that loose and easy cowl collar. Those stripes of open weave that run down the front are just too sexy. A different ribbing defines the waist. Excellent condition.

This dress is extraordinary. It has no label but it does have all the hallmarks of a very well made garment and was certainly a designer piece. The bead and sequin work on it are all hand applied to the silk chiffon backdrop. It has a beautiful pink and green, over-sized, floral pattern that covers the dress from top to bottom. Sequins were then applied to highlight that flower design and they follow the colors within the design as well. The neckline and arms have a densely beaded border whose beads are applied so heavily that you get a 3D feel of the pattern there. The back dips down to expose the back and draping from the base of that scoop are extra panels of fabric sweeping to the floor. This creates a goddess feel along with a beautiful bit of movement when you move. From the front, the dress falls in a singular chic column to the floor. A real beauty and the kind of workmanship that only vintage can provide. Excellent condition

This spectacular and brilliantly printed dress is done in a slinky nylon jersey. This fabric works brilliantly with pattern and color. It holds the color perfectly and the saturation of the print stands the test of time by staying true and crisp. Here,a brilliant palette of vivid pinks, coral and greens are used. The dress has a high collar and sleek bodice. The sleeves are cut long and lean and the skirt cascade to the floor. I love the sheer overload of color that somehow works together perfectly. What a gorgeous, dramatic, silk print dress in a brilliant combination of colors on fine Thai silk. The fabric would have been screened with the print and specifically placed on the fabric so that everything lined up perfectly upon the the final assembly. A print of the wide cut maxi skirt is a smaller floral explosion of color with wide printed bands of contrasting border. This border defines the waist and also the wide floating sleeves. The design used on the top portion offers sharp contrast with a larger version of the floral design. I love the caftan feel cut and how you can wear it loose and easy or use the attached waist ties to cinch it for more shape. It is a true beauty, really fantastic and an easy to wear statement piece. Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Unlined and closes to the waist with a hidden set painted metal zipper. A fabric covered button sits at the back neck and there is an open slit between the back of the neck and the waist. This dress is made of a thin, very fluid nylon jersey that feels like nothing once on. It simply wraps into place and you adjust it with the ties that wrap around the waist. You can also adjust how low it plunges at the front and cinch it in with the tie belt. The skirt is softly gathered along the waistline with elastic so it is super easy to wear. A stunning kimono with a very beautiful print done in a striking combination of a black silk base with metallic silver and copper threads woven through the silk. The design covers the back and runs down each sleeve and across the front. It really reminds me of the work Treacy Lowe was doing in this same time period and has that feel though it's cut is slightly more structured then the caftan like pieces Lowe was doing. It has wonderful wide sleeves that billow out from a cap sleeve. Each is full and left unlined so gives it a nice airy feel. The neck is scooped and the waist set high and it has its original belt that you can use to give it some shape at the empire. The skirt flows tot he floor from there and it is edged with the same contrasting design that the sleeves are finished with. It is a really pretty and well done piece. Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Fully lined in a navy blue silk with the sleeves left unlined, and closes at the back with a painted metal and nylon zipper. The belt snaps into place along the front and then hooks at the back to close. You can easily adjust the hooks on the belt for the perfect fit.

What a fantastic fifties day dress! These are getting harder and harder to find and this one is a beauty! It is as feminine and romantic as you could wish for. Done in a soft but crisp polished cotton that is completely covered with a wonderful check pattern that is a mix of a soft pastel turquoise and light chocolate. The skirt is wonderfully full - it was not shot with a full crinoline underneath to give you an idea of just how full it is. It moves wonderfully and you can of course wear it without a crinoline too! The bodice is the same fabric that is shaped and boned into a sweetheart, strapless bust line. Such a romantic touch! ]Really outstanding and just a beautiful dress in every way! Excellent condition.
The bodice is lined in a cotton and is lightly boned. The skirt is unlined. It closes with a painted back metal zipper. Hand finsihed.

Love the groovy print and design of this jumpsuit - it really makes for an extraordinary and dramatic piece! The colors are a bright clash of corals, pinks and purples that somehow work brilliantly! The legs are super wide so it looks at first glance to be a dress but it is definitely a jumpsuit! The bodice is cut to fit loose and easy and is sleeveless. It is made out of stretch jersey so is easy to travel with and virtually wrinkle free - it is the kind of piece you can throw into a suitcase and be able to wash and wear. It works from day to night depending on how you style it. Truly a stunner. Excellent condition!
Lined through the bodice in a light orange silky rayon and closes with a back painted metal zipper. The legs are unlined.

Super chic jersey dress in the best coral print. This is one of those easy to wear pieces that yu can just throw into a suitcase and it works for day, the beach or night. It works in the city, the country or some far off exotic place. The jersey means you can wash and wear it and it is virtually wrinkle free. Its got a element of sexiness too it with a bit of that Grecian goddess vibe going on.The front and back cross over each other so you get a nice plunge - how deep it is is dependent on how you cinch it into place with the original belt. A tie at the back keeps it from falling off your shoulders once on. I love it! Excellent condition.
Unlined and slip on to wear with an elastic waist. Ties at the back neck. Original fabric belt for the waist
