My client bought this dress from an estate in Palm Beach many years ago and the woman was apparently quite fabulous and a world traveler. She had exceptional taste and this dress proves it! I love the bold graphic print. It really elevates the simple cut into something special. The cut is so simple - a sleeveless shift widens as it nears the hem leaving the body loose and easy. It has a long, fringe edged scarf with hand knotted fringing. There is lots of hand finishes to the pieces and it was stored wonderfully so looks shockingly new. Really an exceptional early piece and I think it is very special! Excellent, appears unworn condition.

This is a great and versatile caftan in a black poly jersey that is easy to travel and wear. The cord work appears to have been hand done in panels and then hand sewn into place onto the caftan. The cord is a deep gold color and pops against the black backdrop. Excellent condition.

A gorgeous vintage caftan whose base is a black cotton mix fabric that has a gold and silver-white thread design embroidered onto it. The caftan is cut supermodel long and is light but with enough weight to hold the shape. I love the dramatic and wide panel of embroidery work that runs all the way down the front and across the upper back. It is picked up heavily around the cuffs of the sleeves and the design trails down each side and around the bottom. As it nears the hem it widens and is quite full. It gives it a romantic, exotic feeling and really makes a dramatic statement. I love the buttons and loops - they are a metal thread so add a nice bit of gleam down the front. Excellent condition

What a gorgeous gold metallic brocade mini dress that has such a fabulous Pierre Cardin feel to it. The fabric is a good weight brocade that is heavy enough that the dress can keep that wonderful sculpted shape, but it is not so heavy that is feel uncomfortable on or unwieldy to wear. The bodice has a real sculpted detailing to it with a curved seam that runs in the opposite direction that you see on most necklines and has an almost bullet bra shaping to the bust-line. The seam that forms the empire waist curves from under the cups of the bust and not just straight across as you would normally see. This becomes a design detail and really adds to the effect the dress has. The back mimics this curve with a scoop. From the bust the dress flares out on an angle to create that dramatic and mod feeling A-line shape. Two rounded pockets sit atop each hip. The gold brocade gives it a fabulous rich feel and it is even better on person. Excellent condition.

This is a fantastic little dress and a bright and colorful one as well! It was meticulously made and I was shocked that it did not have a designer label in it as it seems that it should! The silk chiffon exterior has been beautifully screened with a gorgeous and bright floral print. This type of silk really holds color superbly and this glorious, huge floral print on this confirms that! It has an inner bodice over which a looser fitting, more draped exterior is placed. This inner bodice is covered int he same fabric so you get an interesting depth to the pattern through the top.  It blouse gently above the waist and I love the delicate little bows that sit atop each shoulder. The waist nips in and then the skirt is soft and full with pleating around the waist. A really lovely dress. Excellent condition.

Absolutely exquisite forties strapless printed silk or silky rayon dress with its original 1/2 bolero/wrap! Made by the highly collectible Hawaiian label Surfriders this is hands down one of the most exceptional forties dress I have had. The print is fine and detailed with Asian warriors prancing across the dress on battle dressed horses. Cranes flit amongst field f flowers. The detail is astounding! It photoed with a more white tonality that it really is - in real life it has a soft pastel mint green tone to it - like the boudoir wraps you saw in the twenties from Japan that were for the export market. The bodice is strapless and curved to accentuate the bust line. It nips in at the waist and a panel of fabric sweeps across and ties to form a swag at one hip. Incredibly it still has its original bolero/ wrap that has only one arm opening - the other end is more like a scarf! Truly incredible and a nod to the absolute fantastical fabric work of glory days gone by.

Closes with a side metal zip. The skirt has an over layer that wraps and ties at the side of the hip. It is silk or the best silky rayon I have yet to see with rayon backing to the half bolero. There is small, old, repair near the waist seam about two inches down. There is a teeny bit of color transfer here and there but you have to really want to notice that it is not part of the actual print anyway. I only mention these for accuracy (both these are there but get lost in all the print and the dress is still completely wearable) I have priced it accordingly. Boned through the bodice. Really exceptional and rare piece.

If you are looking for a black gown that still makes a bold statement look no further! This gown has a definite nod to the 1960s but that extravagant bow detail that seems to flow from the very fabric of the dress is pure 1980s drama. It is cut strapless with bining through the bodice. The skirt is sleek and long with a vent at the back to allow you to walk. The bow begins as a panel of fabric set along one seam and then drapes across the front skirt to the other hip. One side of that panel of fabric is gathered to suggest one half of the bow and then the other one is placed on the other side of the gather down the center. It is very chic but dramatic. This is a sexy and easy to wear one shoulder, black jersey jumpsuit by one of my favorite California designers, Joy Stevens! An amazing and fabulous silver brocade gown with the most incredible detailing around the waist! I love the fabric - it is made of a silver silk brocade that has a secondary gold thread woven into the fabric so depending on how the light catches it you get a shimmer of silver or gold. A nude silk mesh is set in at the waist and acts as a sexy band that gives the illusion from afar of a crop top over a maxi skirt. To further emphasize this separation a thick banding of three dimensional beading circles the entire waist both above and below that mesh. The bodice is a simple capped sleeve silhouette above this and the skirt flows to the ground in a widening arch below. The tag is Samuel Winston for Roxanne - and it is interesting to note that for a time Charles James actually worked for this company and Geoffrey Beene as well! Excellent condition!

The detail work on this dress was entirely done by hand and it is quite incredible! It is aobviously a high end piece and its label is a Palm Beach designer or shop called Harold Grant. The base is a light knit that I beleive has cashmere in it. Through the knit, literally, are yellow ribbons that are placed to form big circular medallions with a flower suggested at the center of each. Hand placed through and around these are sequins and pearl finished beads. This gives the dress tremendous texture and interest! The fron scoops down and the back scoops even lower leaving quite an expanse of bare skin. The knit ensures that it fits and hugs your curves. It is very, very bombshell-esque and a real beauty! In person the yellow is slightly more lemon yellow then the deeper yellow it has photoed. Really fabulous! Excellent condition

The base is a light yellow knit and it does not have additional lining. It closes with a painted metal zipper. The sequins, beads and ribbon are all applied by hand and I see no bare spots. The measurements are taken flat and shows the comfortable range of each measurement

I don't think it is possible to look at this dress and not smile. How can you help but do just that when you are looking at a cheerful mix of soft blue, yellow and orange and happy daisies? It is made of a very light weight cotton that has an almost see through effect as the fabric is so fine and light. The pattern takes on a soft washed feel because of it and helps those colors that otherwise might clash, work together perfectly. The cit is very simple with a high neck and simple cut through the waist and A-line skirt that end just above the ankles. It has its original (and long) piped tie belt to add some shape at the waist. The sleeves give it a final perfect pop - each is cut full above the wrist so they balloon out perfectly. Excellent condition.

They are densely packed and I love the curving pattern that is the end result. All the sequins have been hand sewn onto a stretch knit base so it is very easy to wear and comfortable. This one is especially beautiful because of the colors. Shades of turquoise and blues mix with soft pink in curving designs that run the length of the dress. Really super piece. Excellent condition.

Made from an amazing printed silk that is cut on the bias so has a touch of stretch to it, this dress is just wonderful. It appears to have been stored properly for all these years as the color is as crisp and vibrant as the day it was made! The design is stunning. The base is a deep navy blue and then onto this is screened beautiful floral bouquets with each tied with a pale and pretty ribbon. The soft pink and cream pastel colors that have been used for the flowers are really beautiful and when combined with the pops of green it is just lovely! The cut is simple and sweet with a rounded neck and soft gathered pleating along each shoulder. The waist is cut loose and easy and the skirt is cut swing gently away from the more fitted hip area. It moves wonderfully! It has a slight nod to earlier eras in that it is not meant to fit tightly - it just skims the body and drapes. Excellent condition.

Mexican wedding dresses are works of art in my opinion and this black one is a beauty. Making it even more special  is the extensive, hand done embroidery  that covers its surface. The base fabric has been stitched with a crossed pattern of perfect little pin tuck pleats and they give an extra bit of texture to the dress. Separating each row of the pin tucked cotton are vertical bands of black lace through which you get the faintest glimpse of skin. The front is cut into a high square neckline and I love the wide bell sleeves that end just above each elbow. The entire dress was then covered in hand done, yarn embroidered flowers, that run down the panels of the dress on both the back and the front. Everything about this dress is beautiful. Excellent condition

This dress is quite remarkable. It is entirely made of a weave of ribbon and what feels like a raffia. This gives it a complete bias cut effect and amazing texture. You can wear a nude slip under it and feel quite scandalous or get creative with color. These days I am sure there are girls that could get away with an amazing lingerie set under it only! The weave changes thickness and density to visually define the waist and give some structure around the hips. You could even pull it up and wear it shorter and more draped if you wish because of the way the hip portion is woven. It is other wise a simple sheath and the great design element on this one is found on the sleeves - each widens to a full 22" diameter as it reached the wrist and is cut on an angle as well. They are gorgeous! Excellent condition.

This maxi dress is so insane and over the top. In person its a truer brighter green than how it photoed. It pops more. It is made of a rayon jersey that is easy to wear, travel with and care for. Its cut fairly sleek with the only definition being the gathering of the fabric around that round open circle at the waist. It flows around that from the shoulder to the floor. The shoulders are slightly rounded and from them a cape flows right to the floor. It is attached to the dress but only at the top of the shoulders. The dress actually dips low and bare in the back. And if that open circle is too much for you - there is actually a small flap of fabric that you can drape down that is set behind the keyhole! Excellent condition.

This is from the 1910s if not before and and is on remarkable condition for its age. Made of a purple dyed cotton velvet it is a stunning testament to the workmanship of this period. The applique panel that runs down the front and is picked up at the back is all backed in a fine tissue silk. This would have been constructed by hand and then placed and sewn by hand onto the base of the dress. It cleverly hides all the closures - behind the front panel lies an series of snaps and hooks that close the dress. That panel is hand embroidered on velvet with silk cording laid into place by hand as well. Around the very top portion of the collar is a inlay of metallic thread and tiny seed beads. I love the austere shape of the dress and how those elaborate panels completely offset that. It is exquisite and remarkable. Excellent, museum quality condition.

The fabric is self backed and the protons of the applique that are not attached to the dress itself but act as closures are lined in purple tissue silk. It closes with hook & eye and snaps under the front as described above.

A very beautiful fifties cocktail dress that is well made and striking. Made by Seymour Jacobsen, the dress is made of a combination of silk and appliqued netting. The skirt is a full cut silk faille and I love how the fullness is derived from the flat, sharp pleats set on each side of the waist but under where the curve of the waist is defined. This technique leaves the front and back skirt  with slightly less fulness so you have a sleek, lean feel but with a full skirt still. The bodice is spectacular with black netting over a nude underlay. The netting then is appliqued with a design made of chiffon cording and further accented with tiny black beads. Very sleek and chic. Excellent condition

This lovely little black fifties cocktail dress is a dream. Made of a chiffon it has a touch of a Grecian feel to it with that bodice and the way the chiffon is layered over the inning part. Two panels of chiffon sweep down over the bodice in deep plunges. The inner bodice is a nude chiffon covered with an applique of braided cord. A panel of gathered chiffon defines the waist and then the skirt sweep out and is quite full. There is enough skirt that you could wear a crinoline under it and get a very full cupcake effect. Excellent condition

The bodice is two layers of the nude chiffon and the skirt is lined in a black silky taffeta rayon. It closes with a painted metal back zipper.

This is a darling fifties frock that has the prettiest design and print. Made of a fine silk taffeta with a soft, romantic watercolor washed floral print covering in from top to bottom in a pretty palette of pinks and greens. It is so difficult to find amazing fifties dresses that still feel modern and wearable and are of such great quality and this one is really a wonderful example. It is a fairly simple design with a wide cut neckline and the bodice is attached into the cap sleeves seam. The waist nips in and the skirt s set on a wide A line that mimics the fullness that a crinoline type design would have. The bow at the front is the stand out detail - it is set at the waist on an angle and purposely large and dramatic. Just wonderful! Excellent condition

What a glorious 1940s swing dress! These are getting harder and harder to find and to find a jewel like this one is just wonderful! The base fabric is a black silk crepe that drapes wonderfully when on. It has that touch of thirties influence still with a slightly wider cut through the bodice and looser drape and pleating which makes it very flattering. The skirt is long and lean  with a bit of volume as it nears the hem for that perfect swing cut. On each hip there is a spectacular triangular shaped pocket that is densely beaded into a floral design. It's like having two little bouquets with you! This same floral designs sits on each shoulder. Really beautiful and very well done. The design is spectacular. Each shoulder has light padding and the fabric from the bodice is softly gathered into the seam under those wonderful beaded details. A piped tie at the neck that sits above a keyhole is the perfect chic finish. This dress is everything you want in a 1940s piece and is a real jaw dropper. Excellent condition.

The gown is a beautiful silk organza that has a slight iridescent quality to it and a checked plaid pattern that has a fantastic array of vibrant, gorgeous colors. The bodice is fitted and has hand placed gathering, with light boning all through the bust so you are completely supported. The skirt is fantastic - very full and with three built in layers underneath - a silk organza layer, a silk tulle layer and finally, a tissue silk layer edged with stiffening at the hem so that wonderful airy shape is kept. This is a striking and beautiful thirties dress that is made from a pale blue machine lace that is pieced on the bias so that is skims over the body and moves where it needs to to accommodate and accentuate your curves. It is most striking for that beautiful cascade of ruffles that starts just under the waist and goes to the floor in ever widening strips of lace ruffles. Though originally meant to be worn at the back, the cut is so divine that you can literally turn it around and put both the plunge and the ruffle to the back as I have photoed it for you. The skirt widens as it nears the hem and creates a pretty and romantic line. The back dips in a V and there is no other ornamentation on the dress other then the ruffles. You could wear a nude silk slip under this and it will appear as if you have nothing on but a layer of lace or be more bold and use color underneath as contrast. Excellent condition

Vintage pin tucked cotton and lace Mexican dresses are works of art in my opinion and this is a beauty . It is also a more rare colorful version with its beautiful turquoise tone! Every inch of the base fabric has been stitched into even perfect little pin tuck pleats that are then laid out in a crisscross hatched pattern that even lines up at the seams for the most part. Can you imagine the care to do that? As it nears the hem bands of turquoise cotton lace are set between the fabric so that you get a sexy glimpse of skin. A simple V neckline and a flattering skim over the body cut complete this little beauty. Everything about this dress is beautiful and feels like summer! Excellent condition

This is just incredible! The work that was put into creating this outstanding fabric is just wonderful! A off white raw silk base is covered in a stunning pastel design that is dine in a combination of sequins and bead work. It is all done by hand and has a slight raised 3D effect off. I love how they use soft hues of pinks, silvers and blues to create the beautiful effect. The gown is very simple with a high neck that is also embellished with handwork, no sleeves and the cut meant to skin over the body and then flare out as it nears the floor. It is very well made with lots of beautiful hand finishes inside too. The beads and sequins add weight to the dress but it is very comfortable when on. It is just spectacular! Excellent condition.

Love this unusual silk pant and tunic set in a bright and cheerful yellow that is just a few shades short of a neon. The pants have an elastic waist and are cut loose and easy - almost like a man's pajama pant. Over this flows a tunic with a unique cut - it is sleeveless on both sides and has a draped panel that floats over one arm giving you a one shoulder gown feel. When this is layered over the pants the effect is quite wonderful and chic. Very light and airy and versatile since you could get endlessly creative and style these individually with other pieces. This is a pretty silk chiffon floral wrap dress that came fro the same estate as several of the recent designer pieces listed however it's tag has been removed. It is very well made so I would not be surprised to find out it was a designer piece! It is a glorious riot of color with Pink and purple mixing with softer shades of both in huge blossoms that cover the entire dress. Under the ruffles that trail down the front and on the shoulder is an iridescent pink organza that when you moves gives it a nice extra pop of color. It wraps and ties at the side and there are two large pink flowers that are set along that edge. Love the flounce that ends each sleeve. Excellent overall condition.

Unlined and semi-transparent if not styled with a slip under it as I have done. It wraps and ties to close. Each cuff has elastic in it. There are some faint marks on the collar that get lost in the pattern cut can be seen when laid out flat. They do not detract when on and I have priced this accordingly.

This is an incredible late twenties, early thirties gown made entirely of a fine silk chiffon that has those incredible panels in a purple, pink and raspberry that create the lines and pattern that you see. The back is so exceptional that I had to lead with it as the first photo. It is entirely cut on the bias so has that incredible drape and stretch that gowns from this period have. It is incredibly sexy - the lines formed by the pleats accent and highlight the curves of the body. It is suspended by three piped silk straps that are caught up into braids at the top of each shoulder. The front is cut straight across with a little edging detail and the back dip to low V and is accentuated by a tight row of hand covered fabric buttons that run down the back. The dress hugs your curves to just past the hip and then the skirts below the hip are actually quite full. It is semi-sheer so you can change the depth of tone and look by what you choose to wear underneath. An incredible early gown, very rare and very special! Excellent condition

Unlined and closes with a series of tightly spaced buttons and fabric loops down the back as shown. Hand finishes. A bit of grubbiness to the hem and very minor discoloration to the lightest parts of the fabric. Tiny pinholes here and there but all are stable and teeny - nothing that detracts once one.

Upon close inspection you also notice that the pattern of the lace's edges have been stitched and the passing of time has oxidized some of it to a deep blood red thread - a really pretty effect. The matching jacket also has a velvet edge around the waist and I love how the neck and front have used the natural pattern of the lace to create visual interest at all the edges. This gown only has its Creed label, however, I am certain that this would have been a designer piece from the time. I know that at some point in the future I will stumble across a photo of this dress somewhere and curse my luck for not having found it sooner! It really is incredible and the construction belies a couture touch. The exterior of the gown is a black net over which a delicate floral design has been embroidered over the entire surface in a fine blue thread. It has its own separate crinoline to add the volume through the skirt that you see. This is made of a starched blue net with inner panels of black tulle. It has extra fabric through the back to create that slight bustle effect once worn under the gown. A hand placed black silk banding at the waist gives definition. I took a detail photo of the closures so you can get an idea of the workmanship. Really a beautiful gown. Excellent condition.

The gown is fully lined in silk through the bodice and the very inner skirt. A layer of silk net and silk chiffon sit between that and the exterior layer of net. The bodice is boned with a full foundation garment built in. This inner corset closes with hook and eye and the gown closes with a painted metal zipper. This thirties bias cut silk chiffon gown is absolutely beautiful. It is completely cut on the bias over the inner lining so drapes and moves to fit you perfectly from the second you slip it on. The silk is feather light - you could probably pull this dress through a decent size ring if it was not lined. Lots of those fab period details like the teeny gathers at the shoulders and puffed, high cap sleeves - they even have tulle inside them for extra volume. The waist is defined by a gathered panel. The bodice is high and simple so those fabulous sleeves get all the attention and the skirt cascades to the floor. There are yards of fabric in that skirt! I love the soft print and this has an unusual fabric covered zipper at the side - these were only made for a very short period so its is fascinating from a historical perspective as well! Truly a beauty that is utterly romantic on feel! Excellent condition!

This eighties set is just sort of fun and fabulous. The pants have a high waist and are cut full through the leg and then taper slightly as they near the ankle. The are completely covered in tightly spaced, glossy black sequins. The way they catch the light is just marvelous! The jacket is also heavily sequined but in a bright vivid blue. I love the military nod with the patches and shoulder detailing. The jacket has sharp cut shoulders and a nipped waist cut. Very versatile since you can wear it together as intended or pair with other pieces for a an endless source of looks! Excellent condition

This is such a great dress! It is completely hand beaded and the shape and cut combined with that wonderful star pattern adds up to one special piece! It hugs the body past the hips and then there is a low dropped 10" skirt that has hidden layers of ruffles silk under it to give it volume and a sexy little kick of extra color when you sit! This is an early Japanese, made for the tourist market, silk kimono with an interesting subtle grid pattern woven into the silk. Color wise it is an absolutely stunning combination of white, purple, yellows and blues. It is even more stunning due to that bright red and almost neon yellow inside! It is hand screened with huge flowers across its surface. Each design is also hand detailed with a painted center in each flower. I just love the romantic feel of the huge blossoms as they trail across the surface of the kimono and the sheer vividness of it. There are fantastic to wear at home, as a light evening topper or even as a dress if you add a silk slip under it and a sash! Presents as great condition with a few small flaws

The kimono is fully lined with red cotton in the sleeves and upper half and that neon yellow at the sides and bottom. It has no closures. It is in excellent shape overall with some minor marks here and there and some marks inside. A bit of thinning to the fabric along the top shoulder fold I do not feel like these distract. Please do remember these were worn and loved so have a natural patina and should not be expected to be perfect! It is after all almost 100 years old!

This is an early Japanese, made for the tourist market, silk crepe kimono in an absolutely stunning shade of a raspberry. It is hand screened and painted with hauntingly beautiful floral motifs. Each design is also hand detailed with a thin black line. I just love the romantic feel of the huge blossoms as they trail across the surface of the kimono. There are fantastic to wear at home, as a light evening topper or even as a dress if you add a silk slip under it and a sash! Presents as great condition with a few small flaws

The kimono is fully lined with white cotton in the sleeves, a solid silk through the body and a cream silk through the upper half. It has no closures. It is in excellent shape overall with some minor areas that look like old color transfers or watermarks here and there. There are also three hand done repairs - one on the front near the edge, one on a sleeve and one on the back shoulder. I do not feel like these distract. Please do remember these were worn and loved so have a natural patina and should not be expected to be perfect! It is after all almost 100 years old!

This gown is just stunning. It really has a Thea Porter feel to it with its silk and sequin combination. There is no label but it is very well made and very beautiful. I love when a very formal cut is done in an unexpected fabric and that is exactly what was done here. The turquoise silk chiffon is the absolute perfect shade of that tone of blue. It has been completely covered with a stunning design of gold metallic thread and fine gold sequins. The bodice is cupped and each cup is gathered in soft pleats. The waist nips in and then the skirt flows to the floor in a wide cascade of silk. The way it glimmers is the light is amazing. The effect is enchanting and it is a truly beautiful gown! Excellent condition

Fully lined in a turquoise silky rayon and hand finishes in the interior. It closes with a hidden set zipper. There is a break in the fabric near the zipper but it appears stable. The inside is boned and the covering over the boning is set by hand.

I always have a soft spot for these formal beaded 1950s gowns and it is very unusual to find one in such a magnificent color! The satin base is a deep azure turquoise blue and it is quite beautiful. The fabric has a floral pattern worked through it and then onto this are a combination of seed and tube beads that follow and highlight that design. This is done from top to toe making the gown a good weight when you lift it but once on it perfectly balances and feels comfortable. The top is simple and sweet and the skirt gently widens as it nears the floor. I adore the way the back has extra fabric and fullness and how it is caught up in that sweet bow! Very old Hollywood. Excellent condition.

Fully lined in a turquoise silky rayon and closes with a painted metal zipper. The beads appear to be present with perhaps a missing one here or there but no bare spots.
