I love the vintage vibe that this fabulous Dolce and Gabbana dress has with its combination of patterns and the fitted silhouette it has. The photos really don't do it justice in capturing how wonderful the two fabrics work together in person and how they play off of each other. The top fabric a feminine soft pink with bold floral design woven into the fabric. This goes perfect with the beautiful puff quilted floral silk that has a metallic thread running through it. The design here is also a floral but a softer, more abstract version. The waist nips in and the simple silhouette allows the fabrics to really take center stage. Excellent condition and appears unworn.
Fully lined through the skirt in a black silk chiffon and the top in a pink silk chiffon. It closes with a back zipper. Hook & eye close the attached ribbon at the waist. Tagged a size 42 but Dolce can run small so please check actual measurements.

Super cute summer cover up or lounge wear by Coty Award winner, Bill Tice, in a graphic black and white design. It is made of a very lightweight cotton that is screened with that fabulous striped design. It falls right to floor and is cut serape style with the sides left completely open and a skit with a front keyhole at the neck for your head to slip through. A great at home entertaining option or wear as a cover up or lounging piece! Presents as excellent condition
Unlined and slips over the head with one button at the neck. There is a slight bit of fading to the cotton - the worse area on the back sleeve is pictured. Its priced accordingly but it just kind of adds to that perfect vintage feel in my opinion.

This beautiful two piece set shows what a master Yves was with print. The top and skirt are similar in color and print but just different enough that you get a fabulous contrast. Yves was a master at taking fine wools & silks and simple designs and then adding romantic, feminine elements to crease something uniquely Laurent. The top is a fine high quality silk and the skirt a soft silk wool challis fabric. The silk and wool mix moves and drapes wonderfully and these were two of Yves signature fabrics of choice. The top is box cut and loose with buttons at the neck that you can leave open or close completely to create a high, more severe neckline. The neck, cuffs and yoke of the bodice have a fantastic ruffled trim - another YSL signature. The skirt wraps to close, flows over the hips and ends just past the knee. It is more fitted around the hips and then the pattern opens to create some volume. It is a testament to detail that each stripe and pattern lines up perfectly. It has its original tie belt that can be wrapped around the waist or at the neck. I love the boldness of the Ikat print and the colors on this one! Excellent condition
Both pieces are unlined. The top buttons down the front and has a button on each cuff. The skirt wraps to close and secures with large flat hook & eye inside the waist band. Has its original tie belt. The skirt is tagged a 36, the top no longer has its size tag. Please check actual measurements. You could move the hook & eye on the skirt to adjust the fit.

I love this fabulous late 1970s Hanae Mori caftan dress with its butterfly design covering the entire surface. It is made of a feather light silk crepe that really hold the colors beautifully. The gown is cut super model long and is constructed of two layers - the outermost print and a black silk lining underneath. The custom designed screened butterfly pattern is a signature print for Hanae and the impact that it makes with those thousand of butterflies flitting over the surface is wonderful. I love how it gives the dress a delicate, romantic feeling and is a stunning match to the lightness of the fabric. It has a high neckline finished with a delicate and feminine ruffle. The neckline buttons so you can wear it high or leave it open. Each sleeve billows delicately above the cuff that is also finished with a pretty ruffle. The dress falls from the shoulders in a sleek line to the floor allowing you to wear it loose and easy or use the original tie belt to cinch in the waist for more shape. This dress still has a second smaller tie for around the neckline. Hanae is the only woman of Japanese descent to have presented on the Paris and New York Runways and the first Asian woman to be admitted as an official Haute Couture house. You can see why in this stunning and romantic example of her work. Excellent condition.
The dress is fully lined in a black silk with the sleeves left unlined. It slips over the head with buttons at the neck and buttons at the cuffs. Has it original tie belt and a second shorter tie for around the neck, both in matching fabrics. Hand finishes. The loose cut allows this to fit a variety of sizes.

With a strong nod to earlier eras this dress is a great mix of being bold but not too fussy. The entire front collar and neckline has a bold and beautiful, beaded piece work attached directly to the dress. It is a mix of clear beads, silver threads and those fabulous biog turquoise flat plastic beads that give it that string pop of color. This instantly feels like the dress has its own built in jewels and takes it from simple to fabulous. The bead work carries up and around the entire neckline. The dress itself is a simple cut with long buttoned cuffs and a flared skirt. It's a polyester knit so easy to travel with and wear. Excellent condition

The 1992 Spring/Summer collection was all about lingerie as outwear, sex and supermodels. The collection was called "La Dolce Vita" and the theme was sex. Supermodels stomped down the runway is various lingerie and boudoir inspired pieces. A year later Madonna would partner with Stefano and Domenico for her Erotica tour costumes. Its easy to see why when you watch the runway show in the video attached. This dress is the twin of the one worn by Cindy Crawford at the 11:50 mark in the video below and I have included a photo given to me by the original owner from when she last wore the dress. There is also a photo of a bustier from this collection that is currently held in the permanent archives of the FIT Museum.
This lingerie inspired look is a theme that Dolce & Gabbana revisited throughout the years but the quality of the earlier pieces cannot be compared. It is made out of true corseting fabrics and this makes a difference on how it fits. The front is a silk satin, heavy and of corset weight with vertical seaming and built in wired cups. The sides and back are a heavy elastic, again proper corset weight with a row of heavy corset hooks closing it from to to bottom. It is literally shaped and curved to the female form and once on highlights and gives you that bombshell shape. An extraordinarily early and collectible dress. Rare and of museum quality.
Unlined but with finished interior seams. Closes with lingerie hooks that run from top to hem at the back. A panel of black velvet sits over them in the interior to protect the skin of the girl wearing it. Attached, adjustable hooks. Tagged a 42 but please check measurements as it runs small/ The fabric does have some stretch

This is a really spectacular black dress by New York designer Jackie Rogers who is known for her sculptural evening pieces. Ms Rogers was a fit model for Coco Chanel and credits her for much of her inspiration. This is a super example of her work and very wearable. The dress has a pretty net inset top with little dots fused over its surface that sits over the shoulders and goes down the back. The back has a deep plunging keyhole for e little peek of skin. The bust twists and plunges in a sweetheart line that is very sexy. More dotted net forms a little flounce around the hip adding shape and visual interest. This all tops a flowing skirt that cascades to the floor in a widening sweep of fabric. Very simple and chic. Excellent condition!

"Sex is in the air" declared the reviews for the Tom Ford for Gucci Spring 2001 Collection. The collection featured dominatrix inspired looks with rigid bustiers and fitted silhouettes. This little black number quintessentially represents his sleek sexiness and it is a look he referenced again and again as his career progressed. On the runway it was shown in several variations, most notably in a mesh covered version on Kate Moss that is the same dress but was done in the different fabrication. This little black dress version is made of a polished cotton & silk mix and the dress has formed bustier cups seamed like lingerie. More seaming and boning are worked through the torso to create and suggest a corset. It skims over the hip and follows your curves to just past the knee. So sexy on! Excellent condition.
Fully lined in the Gucci signature black, ribbed silky rayon. It closes with a back, hidden set zipper. Each bra-like cup is lined in black mesh with a padded insert. Tagged a 42 but please check the actual measurements as it runs small.

This beautiful dress only has its I. Magnin label but I feel strongly that this is a designer piece. I feel like I have seen it before and one day I am I will stumble upon a photo and the lucky girl that owns it will get an email confirming its true identity! The base of the dress is made of a high quality silk twill in a beautiful soft pastel striped pattern. Over the top is a floating silk chiffon capelet with the same pattern. This is attached at the top of the shoulders and floats down over the bodice. It dips down to a low V at the back. The dress under it is a simple sheath that falls to the floor in a column of silk. The color is a beautiful mix of blues, greens and pinks on a white silk backdrop and all the lines of the design line up along the seams. Wonderfully made. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in white silk with a nude silk chiffon on the very upper portion of the shoulder area of the inner dress. Some very tiny foxing marks here and there but nothing that detracts. Closes with a back painted metal zipper.

A wonderful and vibrant dress by Leonard in a fabulous mix of blues with shots of purple and green. Leonard Paris is a label that was a contemporary of Emilio Pucci and very sought after. This one is a delicious color combination and made of a silk jersey so drapes very well when on. It is cut to skim over the body and fall softly over the hips with a contrasting band of printed fabric finishing the hem, collar and cuffs. I love the V of the neckline and the impact of those gorgeous colors. It is super easy to wear and to travel with, and the cut is very flattering. The dress is a strong statement piece and still so very chic now. Presents as excellent condition.
Unlined and closes with a hand set, back metal zipper. Hand finished. There is just the hint of discoloration under the arms and on the skirt that runs into the pattern but it is very faint - I am being very picky. It is priced lower then normal so I think you are getting a great deal and will be pleased!

When researching this piece I found a pattern in a similar vein from the 1973 collection in the book "Halston" by Phaidon. I believe this may be from that same season and was most likely a custom piece. The fabric is a bias cut, gold & blue metallic lame silk and is extremely light in weight so moves amazingly and feel wonderful when on. It is cut deceptively simple and constructed to skim and drape over the body. The bias cut of the fabric allows it cling in the right places but not in a tight or fitted way. The waist is elastic so very comfortable with a wide sash of the same fabric to cinch it in and create shape. Once the waist is tied the fullness of the sleeves is emphasized and the long to the floor skirt becomes the perfect balance. The skirt falls in one long swoop of fabric. The way the gold and metallic tones catch the light is incredible. A rare and special Halston that I love. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on to wear. Elastic through the waist with the original matching fabric sash that ties at the waist. A hook at the back of the neck above a small keyhole. The bias cut allows it to fit on a variety of sizes. Note that the gold in person is a true gold color. I have reacquired this dress after selling it a couple years back and am very pleased to have it again. The measurements are taken flat and at the comfortable range given the bias cut
Sleeves: 23"
Shoulders: no defined seam
Bust: to 20" flat across from side seam to side seam, though due to the bias cut it will go beyond that

Ken Scott was an American who moved to Italy and ended up in Milan, first designing scarves for Falconetto in the 1950s and eventually opening his own ready to wear line as of 1964. He was part of the print movement of the time that included designers like Emilio Pucci, Bessi and La Mendola. Each was creating vivid prints and designs and creating beautiful clothing for the jet set crowd. Scott's garments have a touch of the American sportswear movement to them mixed with that European glamor and I love whenever I find a great piece like this dress. It is stunning - the hand printed Ban-lon jersey is printed with a gorgeous mix of ocean blues mixed with pops of purples and greens. The skirt is long and has a wonderful flare that swoops out from the curved in waist and simple top. A plunging neckline has a tie that loops through the base of the V and causes it to plunge just a little bit more. This really emphasizes the bust and gives it a sexy feel. Excellent condition!
Unlined and closes with a back painted metal and nylon zipper. Hand printed Ban-lon fabric that has his signature throughout. The fabric does have some stretch and the measurements show the comfortable range when lying flat

Bold and dramatic, this crisp cotton trench by Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche is the perfect light topper. It is so pristine that I doubt it was ever worn at all. It is like it walked out of a time capsule straight from its original Saint Laurent store to here. It buttons down the front in a double row of buttons and has a tie to cinch in the waist. The sleeves are very full and cut wide from the body, narrowing at the wrist with an adjustable cuff so you can wear them tighter or looser there. A buttoned strap detail sits atop each shoulder. The collar is notched and large and it has pockets that sit on each hip. With an instantly recognizable zebra "safari" print and fabulous lines, it is a rare piece by one of the greatest designer. Excellent, appears unworn condition
Unlined and buttons to close and has its original tie belt. Pockets on each hip. Tagged a 36. For the date - I found a reference to the illustration as attached done by Annana Teramorsi with the same print and dated 1984. Note that it was meant to be worn over-sized as the era dictated. In actuality it will fit on a variety of sizes because of the generous cut.

This is perhaps the most iconic of all of the Halston silhouettes and he was a master at this cut. There is a certain sexiness caused by the illusion of having the entire dress suspended by one hook at the shoulder. It gives the sense that undoing that hook would cause the entire dress to drop in a puddle around you. There actually is an inner dress that is made from the same synthetic jersey. It skims over the body in a long sheath and has a slit traveling up on side of the leg opposite to the draped side. Over this is lies the panel of jersey suspended from the shoulder. This top layer hooks into place and then cascades loosely down and over the inner layer for the ultimate Grecian goddess feel. A classic and iconic piece that is perfect for traveling as they are wash and wear and travel exceedingly well. Easy to style too - a quick change of shoe takes it day to night in a snap. Museum quality and really an exquisite gown. Excellent condition.

This dress is so simple yet so sublime and I just love it. It is really an amazing example of great lines, great cut and a great fabric choice, all combined with the perfect flattering red. The bodice is simple and fitted with tiny silk straps suspending it from the shoulder. The skirt falls to the floor in a cascade of silk. There are actually two layers to the skirt. The inner layer has a more sheath-like cut and is made of an opaque silk crepe. This is topped by a floating layer of silk chiffon in that same gorgeous red. The skirt really adds a sense of airiness and fantasy to the dress. It is really pretty and well made. The red in person is a touch more of a true red and does not have that orange tone that it has photoed with. A little beauty! Excellent condition
The opaque silk crepe inner skirt acts as the lining and the top is lined in a fine grade red tissue silk. The inner seams are hand finished. It closes with a back painted metal and nylon zipper. The bodice is lightly boned.

This gorgeous black silk jersey gown is pure Cavalli - it is both sexy and jet set chic. The gown is constructed of yards and yards of luxurious silk jersey that moves and drapes perfectly into place and is insanely comfortable to wear. The bodice is insanely sexy - a curved neckline swoops and crosses over a low and bare back. At the front two panels of fabric sweep up and over the bust leaving a keyhole right to the waist. Accenting that sexy plunge is a signature gold Cavalli snake that clasps at the base of the neckline. The skirt cascade from there in a sheath of silk jersey that wraps over itself in layers for lots of movement. There is a surprising amount of fullness in the skirt but because of the fabric choice, when you stand still, the skirt lies in a way that gives you a long lean silhouette. Then when you move, the fabric flows and draped in the most fabulous and sensual way. It is red carpet worthy and a great choice for the girl who wants to make a sexy, powerful statement. Excellent condition
Fully lined with an inner layer of silk stretch jersey with a hidden set low back zipper. The front adornment is attached at either side of the waist and closes with a slip buckle. The front wraps over itself and the fabric falls at different lengths - it has not been altered but I have photoed it for you to see. There are two small repairs to the skirt near the hem where a heel had caught. If any of these bothered you despite being completely wearable as is, this dress would work amazing as a mini! I Have a Question
There is just something about a dress made in the 1950s that often no other time period can beat. The attention to detail and level of quality is unmatched. This dress has a Bonwit Teller label but no other label to give us a clue as to who might have made it. It is beautifully made and the lines of it are stunning. The bodice curves up and around the bust with curved boning that have been hand set inside to help form the shape that you see. A slight dip at the front gives the bust a pretty sweetheart shape. Sewn just inside the edge of the bodice is a ribbed white cotton panel that gives just a tiny touch pf detailing that peaks out above the black silk. Under the bust the fabric curves over the waist with vertical seaming so you get a long, unbroken line while still getting that gorgeous shape. This technique uses far more fabric then seaming it across at the waist and shows the care that has been put into creating this dress. Yards of black silk sweep to the the floor, gently widening out as it nears the hem. There is a built in inner skirt made of a stiffened dressmaker paper that helps to hold the shape without having to wear a full crinoline under the skirt. It is s stunning and amazingly long for a dress from this time period. Excellent condition.
Unlined but with a built in underskirt that is tacked through the waist. It closes with a back painted metal zipper. Boned through the bodice and into the waist and the boning is set in individual silk sleeves and hand set. Stiffened ribbon finishes the inside hem for a touch of weight and shaping. Hand finishes

A gorgeous and dramatic feeling, draped and wrapped maxi dress that moves wonderfully because of the light metallic chiffon fabric used to construct it. Pretty tones of pink are mixed stripes of golds and muted coppers and there is even a flash of electric blue thread running down the edges of the stripes for a pretty effect. I love that where each stripe meets there is a bit of an "eyelash" trim giving the fabric and extra dimension. The striped pattern adds length and leanness to the wearer and is so flattering on. The sleeves are very full and gather in at each wrist with a loose set elastic cuff and the skirt flows to the ground in a swath of lightness. A fabulous cord belt that is braided and twisted and then accent with gold at the front knot cinches in the waist and adds a pretty touch. The dress wraps to close and is extremely flattering, easy to wear and high on drama. Excellent condition

This is a unique and fabulous set comprised of a long and lean skirt and a swath of matching fabric that you can wrap and tie in endless ways to create a multitude of looks. Both pieces are made of a metallic lurex knit and the color is a deep wine color with gold lurex thread woven through it - the photos really do not convey how amazing the gold is in person but it is a true gold color through the burgundy knit. The skirt has a defined waist and an attached tie at the waist that you can tie on its own or use it as an element to tie over the "top". The top is a large shawl like piece of matching fabric that is properly finished at all edges. It is a single layer of the knit so easy to tie and twist into the shapes and styles you want. Wear it strapless, tied, as a single shoulder wrapped or as an accent over another piece. Really a work of art and construction wise it is really the equivalent of demi-couture. Excellent condition and appears unworn.

This is such an amazing dress. It is made by Malcolm Starr and it is a stunning example of why we love this label. The silk chiffon base is a pretty combination of pinks and shades of purple mixed together masterfully in a leaf and floral print. Woven through the silk is a secondary design done in gold thread that gives the fabric a two dimensional pop. A high neckline and fitted bodice is balanced beautifully by full sleeves that pouf above each cinched in wrist. The skirt is marvelous with a high slit up one side that allows for a flash of leg. There is pleating set around the slit so when you are standing it does not seem to be there but as soon as you move it is revealed. It is a beautiful, dramatic piece. Excellent condition.

This is an extraordinary silk Ceil Chapman dress that can be worn for day or evening and is really an exceptional example of her work. These days you mostly see the more fitted versions that were made famous by Marilyn Monroe, but this is a true 1950s "New Look" silhouette and these are so hard to find as women hoard them. It is just wonderful. The skirt is very full and the shape is helped by its interface of proper dressmakers paper that gives some weight to the fabric and allows it to sit beautifully on its own or fall perfectly over a crinoline as we have styled it here. The waist is nipped in with a band of fabric that curves up and under the draped and pleated bust. The top is gorgeous - it curves over the bust ion a hand placed draping technique which emphasizes the bust line. The shoulders are cut a bit wide so the straps sit right on the outer portion of the shoulder for the most flattering of necklines. I love it. Excellent condition
The upper bodice is backed in a off-white silky rayon. The skirt is backed with dressmakers paper. It closes with a side painted metal zipper and hook & eye above that. It was styled over a light crinoline that is not included.

If you have been looking for the perfect sunny, happy and chic summer dress - this just might be it. It is made of one of Ungaro's signature printed silks, done in a strong bright combination of yellow with red, white and blue shells scattered over its surface. The shoulders are strong and made even more so with padding and seaming that highlights them. Below the shoulder the dress wraps over itself to close, allowing the waist to cinches in with soft and flattering draping. Where it hooks over on the one side it closes with the prettiest enamel flower button. The skirt softly drapes over itself and allows for a little extra leg to flash at the front. Short little sleeves, a nod to a sailor collar and a bit of a plunging front are the perfect finishes. It is that perfect eighties silhouette that still works now. Excellent, appears unworn, condition.
Fully lined in a silk organza and wraps to close with hook & eye and the button on the exterior. Has an inner waist stay that closes with hook and eye. Padded shoulders that could be easily snipped out of you wish.
Due to the wrap cut the measurements can be adjusted at least one inch up or down

This Courreges is just amazing in person. It is entirely made of a light silk chiffon and lined in a tissue silk and it weighs mere ounces. It is actually astonishing how little it weighs. It is a simple cut - strapless and fitted with tiny little rows of gathers running across its surface to create the pattern and texture you see. When you look close you realize that those little double rows that sit above and below each gathered row are actually a line of tightly spaced "circles" created by meticulously gathering the fabric and sewing them into that design. The hours to create this that must have taken is mind boggling! Down each side runs a band of silk ribbon and a ruffle of silk defines the top of the bodice and hem. The waist is seamed so gives it some shape and the cut is otherwise simple and straight. You can wear this as shown or add a belt for more definition. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a black tissue silk and closes with a back painted metal zipper with an inner waist stay that closes with a large, flat hook and eye. Boned through the bodice. Marked a Courreges "B" but please check actual listed measurements.

This is an exquisite late thirties, early 40s black silk crepe dress whose bodice is entirely covered with hand painted flowers that are highlighted with hand applied sequins. It is one of the most spectacular dresses from this period I have had in the shop. Bouquets of sequin flowers in bright hues are applied over equally bold hand painted floral designs in brilliant colors, all of which are done in colors that are still bright and vivid. You would rarely see this level of handwork on a piece today - the cost and time involved would just be too cost prohibitive. Each flower is a beautiful dense pattern of tightly spaced sequins sewn slightly on their sides so you get a raised 3D effect. These cover the entire front of the bodice and trail down over the hip peplum. The cut of the dress is very simple so that design on the bodice is allowed to shine. The dress is also a labeled piece which is rare for this time period and gives you an idea of the quality of the piece. It is a remarkable example of the fine hand work and hand painting on fabric being done during this era and is really a treasure. Even the thread used to sew on the sequins matches the coordinating color of the flower worked on at the front. Excellent, museum quality condition.
Unlined and closes with a short back metal zipper at the neck and a second metal zipper at the side. Hand finished with all the sequin work and hand painted design work also done by hand - you can clearly see the hand work on the back side of the fabric (as photoed). Carefully stored. For a piece that is almost 100 years old is it to be considered in outstanding, museum quality condition.

The colors in this gown are amazing, and when combined with the gold metallic threads that run top to bottom and create wide striped bands, it is just beautiful. The exterior layer is a silk organza has a secondary print running over it and under the gold bands. I love the richness of the deep red tones mixed with the gold threading. If you look close you also realize that each of those bands of gold has its own pattern within it. All this layered over the interior red silk lining so it really creates a rich and exotic feel. The sleeves are wonderful, each wrist is caught up with an slim cuff so that the sleeve puffs out above to create a subtle billowing. The neck is simple and high and keyhole slit sits just under the collar for a tiny flash of skin. The skirt is full and flares out in a gentle swoop of fabric as it falls to the floor. The original belt cinches in and adds shape to the waistline. It is a beautiful and dramatic piece. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a deep red silk with the sleeves left unlined. It closes with a back painted metal zipper. Each sleeve closes with hidden snaps at the cuff. Has its original fabric belt that closes with hook & eye so can easily be adjusted for the perfect fit.

The color combination in this dress are amazing - they have an almost graphic feel that makes it look so very modern still. The entire dress is made of a waffle weave cotton whose "waffle" is large and pronounced and acts as a design element in itself. The halter sweeps up and around the neck, hooking into place. I love the deep chocolate edges with a wide black band as it really emphasizes the bust. A band of chocolate and black anchor the hem as well giving the dress balance and visual interest. Between those anchoring bands of fabric and that sexy halter is a stark white expanse. The back is left completely bare and little pockets are hidden along the seam of each hip. It is quite fabulous! Excellent condition.

I Have a Question
Geoffrey Beene was one of the great American fashion designers and he was recognized for both his artistic and technical skills. He launched his label in 1963 and a piece from his very first collection landed the cover of Vogue. A Coty award followed a year later and in 1984 the Council of Fashion Designers created the annual Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement award in honor of Beene's fashion legacy.
Geoffrey Beene's evening wear rarely misses the mark. It always has this combination of elegance and sexiness with great details and workmanship that makes you feel that you are really wearing something special. Here we have a beautiful chiffon dress with a fabulous square cut out back. The color of the dress is very unusual. The colour has been achieved by layering a chocolate brown semi-sheer chiffon over an inner layer of cape that has been done in a bright orange. Then under that is a nude coloured lining. This combination makes the final resulting colour a deep burnt pumpkin colour that is very striking. It also gives the fabric a depth and texture that seems to change in different lights. The degree of transparency and colour opaqueness also changes when the fabric moves over itself as you move. The bodice has a wide band at the waist with an attached tie that wraps and snaps into place and then ties at the front. The arms are cut to taper down as they reach each wrist. The skirt swings out from the waist and there is literally yards and yards of fabric in it. If you twirl it is a full circle. The neck is cut in a wide scoop across the front but the back is left completely bare. It is that starts open back that gives you an element of shock when you turn. I love it. . Excellent condition
Fully lined in a nude silk crepe, it closes with a low back, hand set zipper and the attached waist tie snaps into place around the waist and then ties and snaps at the front. Each sleeve has hidden snaps at the wrist. Hand finishes

The Erdem label by Erdem Moralioglu is known for his unique approach to print and his approach to tailoring with attention to the finer details that give a dress a great cut. Here we have a lovely little silk dress that is light weight and flattering to most figures. The fabric is a fine scarf weight silk that has, as the label puts it "fabric specially designed by Erdem" and features a lovely and romantic washed watercolor print with flowers softly adoring the surface. The colors are pretty mix of blues and pinks on a soft backdrop. Cut with a boat neck and silk insets at the top of each shoulder with that same silk organza used to highlight each cuff. A soft shift shape suggests shape but without being skin tight. It is a beautiful dress that you can't help feel feminine and yet powerful in. Excellent, appears unworn condition.

This two piece ensemble by Zandra Rhodes in not only rare, but is also quite beautiful. It is constructed from a fine white silk chiffon that is entirely hand painted with Zandra's famous "Field of Lilies" design. The top is cut caftan-like and is a draped confection of silk embellished with pearls and beads. It is cut wide and loose through the body and then dips low over hip. A second layer of fabric circles the neckline and acts as an extravagant collar that ends in a point on both the front and back. This is edged in pearls and more pearls run down and highlight the seams that run vertical to the arms. The print is entirely done by hand and repeats the word "lilies" over its surface. The skirt is wonderful and flows to the floor in a cascade of silk chiffon. On the skirt the pink portion of the hand painted design is used less then it is on the top so you really notice the text that covers the skirt more. Beautiful lilies are hand painted over the surface as well as the field of lilies text that this collection is famous for. The words, 'I love beautiful flower' 'Beautiful flower' 'A lily flower, a lily, a lily' 'A field of lilies' 'Lilies lots and lots of beautiful lilies a field of yet more lilies' 'Zandra Rhodes, Zandra Rhodes' 'Grass' 'Leaves more leaves, leaves green' 'Zandra's beautiful lilies', are written over the surface.
The V&A Museum notes about this print: "Zandra Rhodes considers the Lily prints to be the best of her work, and particularly significant. It was while developing the Lily textiles that she developed the method of reversing the silkscreen to produce a mirror image of the print and create symmetrical patterns. This went on to influence many of her future significant prints, such as 'Lace Mountain', 'Cactus Volcano' and 'Scribble Turnaround'. The Lily prints also represent the introduction of handwriting and calligraphy into her textile designs. Another point of significance for Zandra is that the Lily dresses were the first dresses that she started applying beading to, which would become a future trademark." It is a true work of art, exceedingly rare and very special - it is remarkably close to the Field of Lilies piece pictured in Life Magazine shown being fitted by Zandra herself. Excellent condition
Both pieces are unlined and semi-sheer. The top has no closures and slips over the head. The skirt has an elastic waist and is very generous in cut. You could wear it on the hips if you are smaller or have the elastic inside the waistband shortened to make it smaller if needed. Hand painted fabric.

What a fabulous little dress and I always love having Oscar's earlier pieces in the shop. The dress is very light - I know it looks like it should not be with all that glittering gold, and indeed at first glance it appears to be a brocade, but the fabric is actually a light textured silk organza. Woven through this is a gold thread that highlights the vibrant print custom screened onto the dress. The pattern is fantastic - pinks and purples create a vivid pattern across the surface and the gold adds a fabulous glimmer. The upper bodice is loose and skims over the body and has a chic, pointed collar. This tops a skirt that has some fullness but is in keeping with the light feel of the dress. The sleeves are left unlined and billow softly above each buttoned cuff. It is very pretty and could be belted for even more shape. Excellent condition
The dress is fully lined in a purple silk and closes down the front with buttons and hook & eye. Each cuff buttons to close.

After the initial introduction of the tuxedo suit in the sixties Yves made a version of the famous Tuxedo suit every season. This version of that classic and iconic look has a wonderful cut and still feels infinitely wearable now. Made of a fine black wool that is easy to wear and feel very comfortable on, it has the most classic lines and is easily recognizable as YSL design. The skirt is a classic simple cut to the knee with a pencil skirt cut that has the slightest suggestion of widening as it nears the hem and softly gathers in at the waist line. The jacket is pure Yves with a matte silk satin lapel cut to mimic a man's tuxedo. In this version it closes with two glittering rhinestone encrusted buttons that sit low at the front. Two of these same buttons also adorn each cuff. The jacket curves past the hip and is cut more boxed then fitted, giving it a wonderful shape that balances the cut and length of the skirt. Strong shoulders are the perfect finish. Excellent condition and appears unworn
Both pieces are lined in a fine back silk. The jacket buttons to close and the skirt has a back zipper and flat hook and eye at the waist. Two buttons on each cuff and the button holes are functional. Pockets on each side of the jacket that are functional. The jacket is tagged a vintage YSL 38 and the skirt a 40. What a fantastic striped dress! It is really a chic version of the classic black and white stripe and by the ready to wear Scaasi line. The fabric has a slight ribbed texture to it and has enough weight to hold the shape particularly in the skirt that falls in a lovely curved manner at the hem. Wide stripes in a graphic black and white sit horizontally on the dress from top to bottom. The but works with the stripes across the shoulders and neckline especially with its wide flat cut that leaves the tops of your shoulders bare. It is fitted through the body and is cut to sit off the shoulders at the top. A wide black belt cinches in the waist and break the stripes. Under the belt the skirt is but so that the stripes form a chevron pattern and the skirt falls to just about the knee. I love the curve of the skirt - it has a nod to that famous Charles James clover leaf gown to it - it's the perfect balance to the stripes and bare shoulders. Appears to have never been worn. Excellent condition.
Fully lined an a black silky rayon and the fabric of the skirt is also self lined to the pattern as well. It closes with a back zipper. The belt is a slip belt and in excellent condition Tagged a 4 but please go by actual measurements

I love Suzy Perette pieces and the earlier, really great ones are just getting more and more rare. This one is a beauty and you cannot go wrong with a little black dress. Made of a beautiful grade, black silk, this one is a beauty. The front is cut simply so the bodice is nicely fitted to the body. The waist nips in over a full skirt. Adorning the bodice and circling around the torso are three black silk bands of fabric, stacked atop each other from the waist to the squared off neckline. Each has a sweet little flat bow at its center. This beautifully detailed bodice sits atop the full skirt. This banding detail and use of the bows cleverly draws the eye into the center of the dress and waist and gives the illusion of an even greater nipped in waist and hourglass silhouette. I love it. The back is scooped in the same squared off cut as the front for the perfect balance. The skirt has the perfect amount of fullness that allows you wear it with or without a crinoline and not be too overwhelmed by volume (shown with a light crinoline under it here). Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a black silk and closes with a back painted metal zipper. There are the tiniest bit of "wrinkling" to the fabric directly under the arm but this does not affect how it presents when worn. There is no discoloration or weakening to the fabric there that I can see. Styled here with a light crinoline underneath that is not uncluded. It can easily be worn without one.

This little Alfred Shaheen is just fabulous. It is so unusual and I feel like it is just begging to go on a tropical vacation. It is a really unusual construction with what is basically two large squares of fabric stitched together and then tied around the neck. Much like a scarf dress you sometimes see but rather then a light silk it is a light washable jersey. I have styled it with it tied at the back but you could also wear it over a bandeau and tie it one shoulder style for a totally different look. The panels are a bright explosion of coral flowers and the edges are a black for contrast. Its really fabulous and being washable makes it a great and easy piece to travel with. Excellent condition and appears to have never been worn.

The Silverman company closed in 1978 and they donated their archives and clothing collection to the Kent State University which formed the start of the Museum there. I think that it is always lovely to have a piece from a designer whose name will continue through the efforts of museums and collectors and it certainly makes them a good investment as well. This particular dress is a really spectacular one shoulder chiffon dress. The pretty pastel palette is so feminine and will flatter most skin tones. It is constructed of a pretty chiffon that flows and moves beautifully with hand rolled edges. The design that runs over it is amazing marbled motif in a mix of soft colors that gains depth as it nears the hem. It is almost weightless and yet constructed so that it drapes on the body perfectly with the side that runs over the arm having an almost caftan feel. This gives it a very floating effect when you move. That very top layer floats over an inner dress that has the same fabric on the exterior and is fully lined underneath. Love the effect created with the two layers floating over each other. Excellent condition

This set is just absolutely gorgeous and in person the colors are even more fabulous then how they have photoed. It really pops and you just feel happy just looking at it. It is an early 1960s printed Emilio Pucci skirt set that is made of his signature printed velvet. The fabric that is amongst the most prized of all his pieces to find and a personal favorite. The skirt is a flat fronted wrap with a sleek cut around the hip. The zipper to close it is cleverly hidden underneath the printed border at the at the front and only goes part way down leaving an opening that give an extra flash of leg when you move or sit. The printed border also circles the waist of the skirt so if you decide to wear the jacket open, or the skirt on its own, it has a perfectly finished, chic feel. The jacket, which you can easily wear on its own without anything under it, zips up the front to close. This allows you to wear it closes right up to the neck, open completely or zipped as low as you dare. It too is finished with hos dramatic print border. The colors are fabulous mix of pinks and corals and are amongst his most iconic. The suit is so versatile since you can wear it as together or as separates. This is a very rare and fabulous set. Excellent condition
Both pieces are fully lined in a coral silk. The jacket closes with front, hidden set painted metal zipper. The skirt closes with a front, hidden set painted metal zipper and hidden hand covered snaps that hold the panel in place over the zipper. Hand finished. Note that it has photoed with the coral being the most dominate color but in person the pink seems more predominant.

This is a dress suited for a little bombshell of a girl and it will give any girl who wears it instant curves. These little fitted Hawaiian wiggle dresses were, and are, the dress of choice for sex symbols of the era. The print is a pretty wash of flowers on a blue backdrop and the fabric has a soft washed feel to it which I love. Pinks, purples and greens cover the surface of the cotton for a pretty and feminine effect. I love the faux wrap sarong style skirting and how it ties at the side of the waist. An elastic panel runs along the back of the bodice so the dress automatically adjusts to fit and boning through the front make it easy to go without a bra if you wish. The bodice has a double peak and pretty little gather between. Tiny straps suspend the dress from the shoulders but you could tuck them in and wear this strapless if you wish. Excellent condition

I love this stunning little top and skirt set from the legendary Emilio Pucci mainly because of the color but also because it is just so chic and versatile. Both pieces are simple in cut, but big on drama and are covered with a gorgeous and classic Pucci print. The colors are as brilliant as the day this was made and that glorious print makes it instantly recognizable as a Pucci piece. The print is a mix of a vivid coral with a taupe and off white and all parts of the patters are edged in a fine black outlined. The fabric is also signed throughout with that famous Pucci signature. The skirt is is a soft A-line to just above the knee while the top is a simple cut with sleek sleeves and a rounded neckline. His signature border circles the neck, cuffs and hems. Being two pieces rather then a dress makes really easy to mix and match and work into your wardrobe for all four seasons. Excellent condition.

This lovely little dress is by Frank Starr who was the father of Malcolm and this label was actually the forerunner of the Malcolm Starr label. It is a very chic dress with a very definitive "New Look" to it. It is made of a cream silk satin. This choice of fabric is perfect to give it the lovely structure and lines you see. The fabric has just enough weight to allow it the structure and shape the dress needs. The skirt is quite full and is made more so by the inner layer of tulle that is attached. I have photoed it here with one additional light crinoline so you can get an idea of how full the skirt really is (the additional crinoline is not included). The skirt is set so that it curves out form a more fitted waist. Over this the strapless bodice sits and is fitted with a shaped bust and pretty gathered band right under it. The entire upper bodice is beautifully beaded by hand with tiny little seed beads. A draped panel of fabric sits at the back for the perfect finish. Presents as excellent condition but please read full description notes below.
Fully lined in a cream silk through the bodice and a heavier cotton through the skirt. There is an attached layer of tulle under the skirt and the sash at the back is made entirely of silk. Lightly boned through the bodice and closes with a side painted metal zipper with hook and eye over that. The dress has a small issue that you could try to remedy or ignore as it is wearable as is. There are some water marks on the sash. Please super-size the last photo to see both these items. Priced accordingly.

This early Marimekko caftan dress is fabulous. The Marimekko company was founded in 1951 by Armi and Viljo Ratia and they quickly became known for making pieces that used boldly printed fabrics of their own designs. The label on this dress dates it to the late 1960s and it's a beauty. The design that covers the surface is simple, yet striking. The color is a deep blue with a white curving line that creates the design that runs over the dress from top to bottom. It is cut full through the bodice with wide cut sleeves. The neckline is cut in a V on both the front and back for a little bit of skin to balance the coverage everywhere else. Part of the waist has elastic running through it at the very front, high up under the bust line. This elastic detailing adds some shape to the front but since it is not carried all the way around you still get that amazing sweep of fabric down the back. The skirt flows down from there and widens as it nears the hem. It is just amazing and perfect for the summer season. The earlier Marimekko pieces are more rare and it is an amazing piece of the label's fashion history. Excellent condition

The Erdem label by Erdem Moralioglu is known for his unique approach to print and perfect-cut tailoring both of which are showcased on this lovely dress. The fabric is a finely ribbed silk that has, as the label puts it "fabric specially designed by Erdem" and features a lovely and romantic washed watercolor print reminiscent of eras past and scenic views hidden in its patterns. The colors are the softest possible mint greens and lavenders. The cut is impeccable with rounded shoulder and a shift shape that curves in at the waist to give the wearer shape but without being skin tight. It is a beautiful dress that you can't help feel feminine and yet powerful in. Excellent, appears unworn condition.

Koos, who sadly has just passed away this year, was especially known for the incorporation of collage into his work. His work always was started from the fabrics he chose and loved and this love of textiles runs strongly through his pieces, especially the more daring designs as the fabulous jumpsuit that we have here. This amazing jumpsuit typifies the movement towards clothes that were easy to wear and still had a sportswear meets runway feel to them. It is made of a slinky silk satin in two tones with his signature collage applied boldly to the front. Being a jumpsuit makes it so easy to wear! You just slip it on, add shoes and accessories, and go. I love the heavily collaged bibbed effect front that sits on either side of the button up top and the sexy of both the top portion and pant, especially in that light and fabulous feeling fabric. So chic and so versatile. Excellent overall condition
Unlined. It slips on and buttons at the front with a tie running through the waist so you can leave it loose or cinch for more shape. There is a teeny watermark on the bodice that may come out with an additional cleaning (supersize the close up of the bodice to see - it has been priced to accommodate). Hidden side pockets on each hip. Tagged an 8 but please check listed measurements.

Founded by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, this label has a loyal fan base, addicted to the stunning prints that they design and transfer onto silks. The duo draws on science and nature for inspiration and you can see that in this print with its pretty poppy feel florals and water like details that hide in the angular design. The dress is a pretty shape with a defined waist and swingy skirt. The top crosses and plunges. That crossing of fabric crosses over itself at the waist and then falls in two panels of fabric over the waist giving the skirt a little extra dimension and movement. This allows the floral pattern at the hem to really be highlighted. The back is left sleek and simple. Love it. Excellent, never worn condition.

This is an amazing set and feels so happy and spring-like, it is hard not to smile when you see it. The skirt is full, with a lovely amount of volume and sits just past the knee. I love the mix of a multi-colored check pattern mixed with those huge blooms. Cut out versions of those glorious poppies adorn the hem of the skirt and circle all the way around adding a pretty dimension to the pattern and design. The waist cinches in and you could pair this with a variety of pieces making it so very versatile. With this is a bib like piece that goes around the neck and covers the front bust. It is fully adorned with those huge poppy appliques and this combination of color and design is spectacular. An interesting thing to note - I have seen a dress version of this piece on occasion in the past. At first I thought that it was perhaps the dress version and it had been altered at some point into the two pieces as you see. However, the dress versions that I have seen had a Donald Brooks label, while this set has the Boutique version label so it's a bit of a mystery and there are no screaming signs of a bad alteration job inside. So there is the possibility that this was as it was intended. The boutique label was only produced from 1971 to 1973 and based on similar pieces held in museums I believe this to be from that very first year of production. Either way it is in excellent condition
The skirt is unlined and the top lined in a white silky rayon. The skirt closes with a back painted metal and nylon zipper and the top hooks at the back neck under the poppy applique.

This beautiful and easy to wear dress is by Travilla, who is of course the genius behind Marilyn Monroe's Subway Grate dress from the movie "The Seven Year Itch". He was renowned for his pleat work and ability to drape a gown and his work respected the fabric choices and used them to their greatest advantage. Here he used three layers of light, fine, sheer silk chiffons and in a way it is really three separate dresses layered over each other with only the fact that the fabric used is so light that is possibly works. The entire dress weighs only a few ounces and feel like air when worn. The bodice is loose and east with a sexy little cut out at each shoulder, under which each sleeve flows. The sleeves are those same thee layers and I love how each layer peeks out form under the other so you can see each and it acts like a border. The sleeves are cut wide - they have an almost kimono feel and come out from the elastic waist. There is also a tie that runs through the waist allowing you to cinch it in for more shape or wear it loose r. The skirt flows to the floor with a high wide slit and again each layer is done so you can see an edge of the three tones. The print on the very top layer is hand screened and the design is a profusion of huge blossoms running on an angle adding a sense of height to the wearer. Love it. Excellent condition
The inner layers serve as the lining. It slips on with elastic and a tie running through the waist. Ties at each shoulder allow you to adjust how low it sits.

Koos, who sadly has just passed away this year, was especially known for the incorporation of collage into his work. His work always was started from the fabrics he chose and loved and this love of textiles runs strongly through his pieces, especially the rarer ones that date to very early in his career as the ensemble that we have here. This amazing pant and tunic set typifies the movement towards clothes that were easy to wear and had a sportswear meets runway feel to them. Both pieces are made of a soft light printed cotton with his signature collage applied boldly to the front of the tunic. Both pieces are so easy to wear and are that slip on and go type pieces. I love the heavily collaged bibbed effect front and the loose and easy cut of both the tunic and pant. The tunic is cut long so it layers perfectly over the pants, whose wide legs are the perfect balance. The tie at the collar is the perfect finish allowing you wear it open or ties. So chic and so versatile. Excellent condition
Both pieces are unlined. The tunic slips on with an attached tie at the neck. The pants close with a zipper and button at the waist and have pockets along each hip seam

I love the classic cut of this suit with it's box jacket and flare skirted dress. The cut is just so classic and timeless it could be from a runway today. The dress is a simple shift that is cut to skim over your curves with the skirt flaring out as it nears the hem and a inverted pleat running down its center for extra volume and shape. It is refined and graceful and feels very female and regal. The silk is like a matte sharkskin silk and has a unique and wonderful texture with the fabric heavy enough to help keep that structural shape but not heavy enough so that it is in any way uncomfortable to wear. The jacket is classic box cut with a pretty tie front. It is simplicity mixed with a masterful seaming and cutting and extraordinary fabric. This is from the Mademoiselle line and is the modern day equivalent of a made to order piece in terms of quality. Excellent, appears unworn condition
Both pieces are fully lined in a black silk. The jacket slips on and ties at the front. One part of that tie is attached to one side of the jacket so it stays perfectly in place. The dress closes with a back painted metal zipper and hook & eye.
