I love Bonnie Cashin leather pieces and this little sleeveless jacket that you can wear as a long vest or as a dress is just amazing. Just the fact that it has so many styling options is an instant bonus for me and I can't help but think it has a kind of Celine vibe to it as well. It is actually amazing how modern it feels considering it would have been made back in the sixties. It is a leather that is quite pliable and has been dyed an taupe cream. It is cut narrow through the bodice and then widens out quite a bit in a dramatic Aline. It can open completely down the front allowing you to use is as a layering piece and features her signature brass turn key clasps. A matching leather tie belt comes with it and again she has created a way to give you multiple options to wear it - there are little slits on the sides along the seam so you can wrap the belt around the outside, run it through so it only ties at the front and is inside and around you, or the opposite and have it only cinch in the back. Between the chic, neutral color, the design and the fact that you can wear this so many ways, it's virtually a no brainer. Plus it is an amazing and rare example of some of Bonnie's best work. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a matching silky rayon and closes with her signature brass turnkey locks down the front. It has its matching leather belt that slips through slits on each side and you can tie it a variety of way to create different effects.

Famous for creating Marilyn Monroe's scintillating and iconic "subway grate" dress for the movie The Seven Year Itch, Travilla began as a costume designer before opening his own custom atelier in the 1950s. He did both until 1970, closed shop and then reopened in in the late seventies. I would hazard that this gown is one of the early creations from when he reopened and is quite wonderful. The gown is undeniably exquisite in its cut and design. The long lean cut and the way the fabric drapes over the body and hides an inner foundation is marvelous. It is constructed from a rich cream colored, heavy silk crepe with the flaring of the skirt actually crated by the fabric and allowing each vertical panel of the dress to widen out as it nears the floor. The front is a simple strapless gown with an extraordinary detailing of soft cream Mongolian fur circling around the top of the bodice. From that detailing the gown falls to the floor in a sleek column. The entire bodice has a built in corset so you get no lines from the exterior but perfectly fit under. The back is genius with a flared, "mermaid" cut to the back hem that is done with couture precision. The genius is in both the cut and choice of such fine fabrications. Really a beauty and far better in person then how it photoed. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a cream silk and has a built in, finished and boned corset through the bodice area. Zips up at the back with a painted nylon and metal zipper. It appears to have never been worn

I Have a Question
If you have been looking for the perfect little black dress that has that perfect mix of sexy and chic, this late eighties Chanel dress is perfect. It is cut to be fitted and to follow your every curve but without being so tight that it is unflattering. If anything the way it is cut and the fabric choices hide flaws and give you curves whether you have them or not. The skirt is made of a thicker stretch jersey with an inner fine, silk lining. It hugs the hips and falls to the floor in a narrow sheath with a slit up the back to allow you to be able to walk. The fabric is reminiscent of a bandage dress so really hugs and conceals. The bodice acts like a corset with inner boning and structure to cinch you in at the waist and hold you up through the bust. The top is completely covered with silk chiffon placed in perfect hand done and stitched flat pleats that run horizontally over the corset. The edge of the top is peaked dramatically and then plunges into a deep V. Down the front runs a row of tightly spaced gold Chanel logo buttons. Excellent condition.
Fully lined through the bodice in silk crepe. The jersey skirt is unlined. The bodice is boned and has a stay that hooks to close under the actual bust and a second hooked stay lower down at the waist. Twelve Chanel logo embossed gold gilt metal buttons run down the front. Hidden pockets along the inner, inset, front seams. Tagged a Chanel 36 with size 4 hand written on the tag

Chic and sophisticated, the true connoisseur of vintage cannot go long in collecting before a Norman Norell lands in her closet. His dresses are cut with a master's hand and every line and seam placed exactly where it should be. This particular dress is a classic created from a very unusual and bright color choice for Norell that makes it that much more special and I love it. It is a sleeveless wool crepe shift dress in a bright robin's egg blue. I love that it has this fabulous little pockets at the hip and each pocket is functional. Don't be fooled by it's simplicity - it is seamed and constructed to couture levels and the finishes within it are superb. A classic that will last you a lifetime and then still be relevant! Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a matching blue, fine tissue silk that is entirely hand set. It closes with a hand set back metal zipper. The two tiny front pockets are functional. There is the teeniest, tiniest bit of fading at the exterior under the arm but I am being picky and it certainly does not affect it once one. Some small discoloration to the interior lining that also does not show when on. Priced accordingly.

Lovely and simple, this Jean Hercey dress is perfect for the summer months and will transition into fall with the addition of a jacket or sweater. Hercey was one of the French Couturiers and [produced demi-couture level work. His work is not found as often as some of his contemporaries but when you do find one its a treasure. You can see the interior hand salvages and this heavy hand finishes really tells the quality of the piece. I love the pretty blue scattering of pop feeling flowers on the backdrop of printed silk voile - the contrast between the two patterns is wonderful. It flows to the floor from a pretty scooped bodice, gradually widening as it reaches the hem to create a soft and pretty A-line. It has just a suggestion of waist that is highlighted with a flat blue ribbon. It's the perfect and easy dress that can be styled up or down and worn day to evening. Very simple, very pretty and very, very well made. Excellent condition

Every once in a while a piece comes along that is so chic and forward that it truly feels like while it could be fresh off the 1972 runway, it could equally be from the 2015 one. This is one of those. It is made from a fine nylon fabric that has almost silk feel to it. It is extremely light and easy to wear and feels like a breathe of air on. The top is a button down with classic skinny seventies fit. It has a long pointed collar and cuffs at each sleeve. The pants are fabulous with super wide legs and a flared cut topped by a sleek fit around the hip. I love the white design over the black backdrop - it really pops and feels fresh. The set has its original matching fabric belt allowing you to cinch in the waist to create some shape. Just an amazing and rare set that you can wear together or as separates. Excellent condition

This stunning Yves Saint Laurent set clearly illustrates his love and fascination with all things gypsy, bohemian and peasant in feel while the color and fabric seem to give a nod to his famous love of color. This is like the perfect melding of the two ideas in one. It is actually two pieces plus a tie sash belt, which gives it endless styling potential. The skirt is three stunning tones in cotton with a polished finish and the fabric choice gives it some weight and shape. It is constructed of three tiers of fabric, each a different color. These gradually widen to create the volume through the skirt that you see. I love the ruffled effect that this creates. The top and belt are made of the same fabric and color as the last tier of the skirt. This both creates balance and also gives the set the feel of a true dress when they are worn together. The sleeves are incredible - each is very very full above the elastic cuff. The top is cut to sit wide off the shoulders which really give it a bit of that famous YSL sexiness. It is an amazing and dramatic set! Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Both the top and skirt are unlined. The skirt closes at the side with a painted zipper and flat hook and eye. The top slips on and has elastic at each cuff. Both are tagged a vintage YSL 34. The original belt is present

This pretty pale ice blue silk organza cocktail dress from Suzy Perette is sublime. It's a true 50s masterpiece and a lovely, lovely dress! The soft silk overlay that covers the dress gives it a pretty translucent quality and a bit of depth. Really beautiful. The bodice is simple with a flat across neckline. The waist nips in and the skirt is full and has a lot if volume - here I have styled it over a light crinoline (not included) so that you can see just how full the skirt is. Incredibly the volume and shape is all created by long vertical panels pieced together to create that hourglass feel - just an incredible amount of work. It is a lovely and early Perette dress. Excellent condition
Fully interlined in a pale silky rayon and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Ribbon finished hem and pinked seams. Note that it is a teeny bit small on my mannequins bust and on a smaller chested girl would have no horizontal pull like it does in the photos and zip fully up of course!

The French have a saying "Jolie laide", meaning "beautiful ugly", or something that is unconventionally beautiful. It is mainly used when speaking of a women but I feel it works here as well. The dress and jacket should not work. It is a clash of patterns and fabrics. The skirt and outer part of the jacket is a metallic lurex in the colors shown with florals splashed over its surface. The top of the dress is covered heavily in sequins and these same sequins also completely line the interior of the jacket. The sequins themselves are odd even, each is has an almost tiger striped worked over its surface. Everything clashes yet everything oddly works. It is so bad its oddly good. Wear the jacket over the dress or wear as a separate. Excellent condition
The dress is interlined in a black silky rayon and closes with a back zipper. The jacket is lined in the same black fabric through the sleeves and otherwise completely and densely sequinned through the interior body with the same sequins as the bodice of the dress. The jacket has no closures.

I Have a Question
Arnold Scaasi was born Arnold Isaacs in Montreal and the name Scassi is simply his own name reversed. He studied in Montreal and in Paris, apprenticed at the house of Paquin and then worked with the legendary Charles James. In 1964, he opened own couture salon. He dressed Hollywood stars like Lauren Bacall, Diahann Carroll and Elizabeth Taylor. He dressed several first ladies including Mamie Eisenhower, Hillary Clinton and both Bush first ladies. He even once bragged that he refused to give Jackie clothes for free. He was the man behind the scandalous 1969 Barbra Streisand sheer trouser outfit that she collected her Oscar in, and he was presented with the Council of Fashion Designers of America Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. His mainline was made to couture standards and I am always happy to find his work.
This dress is made out of a purple silk voile that has a fine silver thread running through it. This touch of silver highlights the woven floral design that sits within a basket weave effect. The fabric is truly incredible. The textile alone on this one is incredible. The strapless bodice is cut with a high dramatic squared off shape at the front and straight across at the back. That front panel is set so that it peaks up and above the bust-line and stands out from it so that the squared off shape is kept. It has an almost flattening effect that gives it a historical feel. There is inner boning to help it stand and keep the shape. It then if fitted around the waist to cinch in your shape. The skirt is set into that in a series of soft gathers pleats. It is very full and falls to the floor in gently widening curve to the hem. The inner skirt is lined in a silk organza and finished with a wide strip of stiffened netting to hem to hold the shape. There is also built in tulle layers to give it the fullness that you see. I did not use any additional crinolines for the photos. The sone is not perfect but presents well. Please read full description below.
The bodice is fully lined in a fine black tissue silk and skirt is interlined in back silk organza. There are two layers of tulle skirting and then an interior black silk skirt. The interior skirt and exterior skirt are finished at the hem with a band of wide stiffened netting. The fabric shows slight wear and some fading under the arms. Slight fading and grubbiness at the hem and edge of the top bodice. Some fading to the fabric down one side and a dot of yellowing on the bodice. Please see the photos after the label shot.

Lillie Rubin was founded way back in 1946 but really for me found their groove in the seventies. The specialized in evening wear and though some pieces can be stronger then others, when you find one that is amazing - its really fabulous. Personally, I think this one is a knock out and really shows the line's strong points in terms of mixing fabric and cut. I cannot even begin to tell you just how wonderful the fabric is in person. Black silk chiffon serves as the base and onto this is fused little patched of rich purple silk velvet with tiny shots of gold thread worked through it. The effect of the semi-transparency and the richness of the color is superb. The skirt is a full length A-line and cut on the bias so it really has a lovely flow and drape to it. The top is spectacular and cut to cross over itself at the front and hook to form a high neck. The sleeves are perfectly full and voluminous below a slight padding in the shoulder to balance the skirt. A heavily beaded belt in gold wraps and ties at the waist. Very chic but sexy. Excellent condition and appears to have never been worn.
Unlined and the black silk chiffon base is semi-transparent between the where the purple velvet and gold is fused to that chiffon. It slips over the head with an elastic waist and the front wraps and hooks at the neck. Each cuff closes with a hidden snap. The belt is densley beaded and a good decent weight. The fabric is just fabulous in person and the dress very light.

An amazing slinky and fluid jersey sheath in a bight coral jersey that skims over the body and is cut to emphasize every curve. It is long and lean with a trailing ruffled detail that gives it lots of movement. The dress is cut on the bias so it automatically drapes and settles into place as soon as it hits your body. A high slit runs up one leg with a ruffled finish slit. The neckline is delicious - one shoulder and with a double strap that creates a keyhole effect. Another ruffle is set along the side. This is the dress for when you want to look and feel a mile tall and supermodel skinny. The edges are finished with his signature stitching that makes the jersey slightly curve and ruffle. Really a fabulous and sexy dress and in excellent overall condition. Note the color is truer and brighter in person - it is a true bright clear coral
The dress is unlined and slips on to wear. Very lightweight jersey with lots of stretch and drape - the measurements are taken with it lying flat and with reasonable stretch - the mannequin is about a 4-6 and it would fit a smaller girl well too. Note that the length does come up a bit when worn on a real body. There is one small stitched repair under one arm - please super size the photos to see. It is seems stable and is not really noticeable when on and I have left it as it. Priced accordingly. Note that it photoed with a more orange undertone, in person it is a true coral with more of a pink undertone.

Louis Estevez worked for Jean Patou for two years before starting his own label in 1955. Here we have a truly beautiful and exceptional piece designed that is fairly early on from his career and quite wonderful. It is impeccably constructed and cut to follow a girl's curves but not in an overtly sexual kind of way. The bodice is a sleek and simple expanse of silk satin that is cut and seamed to nip in at the waist and is highlighted there by a "knot effect". The neckline is a simple high scoop at the the front while the back dips low to leave a bare expanse of skin showing. I love the stunning contrast of color with the two blues used and the fullness of the skirt. Soft pleats run down to shape the skirt and built in layers of blue tulle create the fullness you see (I added no extra crinolines under it either!). It is fabulous and the inside is constructed as well as the outside is beautiful. Excellent condition
Partially lined through the bodice with deep seams of the same silk satin while the skirt is interlined with a cotton muslin in the same color as the exterior. Attached inner tulle under the skirt. It closes with a hand set back painted metal zipper. The colors shown are a good representation for tone but in person the fabric is even more beautiful.

This is Chloe from the early to mid 2000s and it is the epitome of that casual but chic French girl feel that the label is known for. Made of a fine silk chiffon in a pink based cream that is very pretty and feminine and surprisingly in-line with what they are showing this season. It has a bit of a flapper feel with its dropped waist and loose cut through the body. The color is the perfect neutral for summer dressing and can easily go from day to evening. I love the banding of fine cotton voile set into the low waist with raw seam edges, that balanced with the ruffled front give it a delicate and romantic feel. That same raw edging is used to highlight the collar, sleeves and the seams that show are let cut and unfinished as well. Perfect for summer and a collectible! Excellent condition and was never worn

Marni dresses always are a bit quirky and walk that line between geek chic and high end fashion. You can easily spot a Marni dress for its fashion forward lines and ease that it falls over the body. Rarely do they hug a girl's curves in an overt fashion but rather skim over the body in a soft manner that is easy to wear and yet feels avant garde. This dress is a deep taupe cream in a good weight stretch jersey that is meticulously cut. The front has her signature curved seams and a low drop skirt that has a nice fullness to it. The back is very interesting with a low curved plunge and an attached tie that sits at the base of that plunge and trails down the back. More pleating gives it an almost abstract bustle suggestion. Very chic and never worn. Excellent condition

This is a stunning silk twill dress with a depth and richness to the silk that you just don't get the full impact of till you see it in person. The exterior of the dress is a Hermes scarf weight, silk twill, in a brilliant vivid pink with stunning pops of color trailing over its surface. The colors run entirely over the entire piece from the simple, sleeveless, high collared bodice to the skirt that sweeps to the floor in a long and lean column of fabric. I love the deep V at the back with its collared detail edging its plunge. At the back there is a seam defining the waist and giving it shape but from the front it is a single panel of fabric that sweeps down and over the body. Very simple and chic. Excellent condition

In an article from Essence magazine Designer Willi Smith is noted as being a designer "who took much pride in birthing a youthful sportswear collection that pushed fashion's boundaries without breaking the bank. His wortk was in high demand and "By 1986, a year before his untimely death, WilliWear was racking in $25 million. Smith's innovative designs won him a number of prestigious accolades including a Coty American Fashion Critic Award for women's fashion in 1983 and a Cutty Sark Menswear Award in 1985."
Pieces from his line are held in several museums most notably, the Museum of Philidelphia, Willi's hometown, and The Met. I have dated this pieces based on a similar label from that date found in The Met archives. Willi loved print and you can see that in this fantastic jumpsuit. It is cut to perfection with wide legs and a simple cut. The front plunges into a V that meets the band at the waist that gives it shape. It is cut high over the waist and skims over the hips. Each leg has that exact right amount of flare that makes your legs look a mile long. Sleeves that end in an elastic cuff so that they puff out a touch above are the perfect finish. For the girl bold enough to pull this off - this is your dream jumpsuit! Excellent condition.

The La Mendola label is highly collectible and sought after - when the duo behind the label where designing in Rome it was girls like Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth that were buying and wait listing for it. The Italian shop closed in 1974 and this would have been from that shop. The silk jersey used is so fine and so light that it feel utterly amazing on and works even in warm climates because the fabric really breathes. The design is beautifully vibrant and bright with its mix of citrus and berry colors, and the dress exquisite. The entire dress weighs ounces and will fold into the tiniest of balls - exactly what a jet set girl of that time would have been after! It has a simple cut with an undefined waist, high neck and long sleeves. I love how it covers the body completely but the fabric drapes and clings to every curve so it is still insanely sexy. The high neckline and that row of tightly spaced, tiny, hand covered silk buttons up the back of the neck are the final delicious touch. It is an amazing piece. Excellent condition and appears unworn.

This is a stunning and beautiful example of Mr Blackwell's custom, demi-couture line. The pieces made for this label were all one of a kind and of exquisite quality and workmanship. It is a fabulous set that still feels relevant now. The fabric is a stunning puffed cream silk brocade that has a gold metallic thread running through it. The depth is then created at the base of the fabric with a taupe chenille - the mix of the three threads together and forming a floral pattern is superb. The dress has a simple shift type bodice with a slightly nipped in waist and capped sleeves that tops a flared A-line skirt. The dramatic cape that tops this perfectly simple dress is my favorite. It curved around the shoulders with a panel on each side at the front and a long slit running between for the arms. Unlike most capes that have an opening worked into the seam these slits are left open right to the hem making them that much more dramatic feeling. Large fabric covered buttons and a rounded collar are the perfect finish. The balance of that dramatic cape and the simple shift dress underneath is perfect. All hand finished and exquisitely constructed. Excellent condition.
The cape is fully lined in a luxurious high end cream silk satin and the dress in a nude silk. Hand finishes to both. The dress closes with a hand set, back painted metal zipper. The cape closes with the fabric covered buttons at the front as shown.

The La Mendola label is highly collectible and sought after - when the duo behind the label were designing in Rome it was girls like Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth that were buying and wait listing for it. The Italian shop closed in 1974 and this dress would have been bought from that shop. The silk jersey used is so fine and so light that it feel utterly amazing on and works even in warm climates because the fabric really breathes. The design is beautifully vibrant and bright with its two tones of pink, and the dress exquisite. Excellent condition.
Unlined and slips on to wear with a row of hand covered silk buttons up the back of the neck. The bias cut and design of the dress will allow it to work on a variety of sizes.

From the Dior Boutique collection comes this gorgeous little silk dress in a beautiful floral pattern made of shades of pink screened onto a lovely silk taffeta. I believe this is from the Galliano era and is a wonderful example of how he could be pretty and romantic while executing a sharply cut design. You often see a nod to the fifties and sixties in his work for Dior during this time period and never more so here with this silhouette. It is so easy to wear and has a delightful retro and feminine feel to it. The silk taffeta is as light as a feather and this choice of fabric allows the lines and fullness to hold its shape without having to add any interior structure. It bodice skims over the torso and has pretty flat bows at the top of the shoulder. The waist cinches softly in and you could define it further by adding a belt. The skirt is stunning and seems to float around you with a lovely fullness to its shape. It is gorgeous! Excellent condition
Fully lined in a high quality pale pink silk. It closes with a hidden set, back zipper. Tagged a size 40. Has its original Dior hang tag attached and has never been worn.

I absolutely adore this printed cotton Lanvin dress with its amazing pink dot design screened onto the red cotton fabric. The print is just exceptional and the colors used are wonderful and unexpected. It is so bright and cheerful! You can wear it as a shift so its loose and easy, or use the original tie belt to create shape at the waist. I love the the long sleeves with their cuffed ends and slight fullness just above each wrist. It buttons all the way up the front allowing you to leave it undone and quite low to add a flash of skin, or keep it buttoned up. Because it opens fully down the front you could even layer it over other pieces. A neat little pointed collar and the Lanvin double "L" engraved buttons are the perfect finishing details. Excellent condition.
Unlined and buttons to close down the front. Original matching fabric belt. Each sleeve closes with two buttons. All the logos are engraved in white with the Lanvin logo.

This is a gorgeous red jersey Donald Brooks maxi dress that is very well made and has miles of fabric in it making it feel very luxurious and decadent! I love the ease of the fabric and the killer drape that the choice of the slinky jersey gives it. It makes it that perfect combination of being able to go full out dressy but with a certain ease - a delicious contrast. The faceted glass crystal button detailing is the perfect contrast to the jersey - it's an ingenious way to give it a little glitz without ruining the perfect simplicity of the jersey. These are spaced down the front in a way that gives just a glimpse of skin between for a little added sexiness. It has its original, extra long tie belt. There is literally yards and yards of fabric used in the skirt and I love the fluid, very full jersey sleeves with their dramatic ballooned appearance. His mainline label and very fabulous and well made. Much better in person so if you love it here you will be thrilled when you have it in hand. Excellent condition.
Unlined through the skirt. There is an extra layer of the same jersey fabric that runs through the front of the bodice with the back left unlined. It buttons at the front with faceted glass crystal buttons and fabric loops as shown. The original tie belt is present. Elastic at each cuff. More of a true red in person. The cut and fabric will accommodate a wider range of sizes

An amazing, sculptural piece from the house of Hermes in the most amazing starched black linen! The choice of fabric gives it an instant sense of luxury and chicness. The bodice is dipped in a V at the front and it wraps to close. The front wraps over itself, securing with a series of buttons hidden inside and then the other, exterior side and shoulder are detailed with a tightly spaced series of gold embossed Hermes buttons. The skirt flares out in an A-line to a chic midi length. I love the sculptural line of it and the fabric choice - it feels very jet set with that rich luxurious feel that house always seems to infuse into its goods. Hidden halfway under that front wrap just below where the gold buttons end is a large pocket that sits on the hip. Really a wonderful and chic dress. Excellent, appears to never have been worn condition.
Unlined with finished inner seams through out. It wraps to close with a series of buttons inside at the waist and then the outer buttons as seen. Buttons across the top of the shoulder as well. There is a half hidden pocket just under the front button. All the buttons are engraved "Hermes Paris". Tagged a 38

The early little black jersey dresses that Ceil Chapman made on the late 40s and early 50s are some of the best examples of her work out there. This piece is seriously fabulous and quite sexy and I hope that girl that decides to make it hers truly will love and cherish it. These early Chapman pieces are very hard to come by and you can see the master draping techniques she employed in this piece. Made of a very early silk knit jersey the fabric is very fluid and drapes perfectly. The bodice is completely gathered in soft pleats held in place by the ruching down the sides. I love the off shoulder sleeves and the way that the back dips and drapes. It is very sexy! The rest of the dress is draped with an extra panel down the back. The skirt is caught up under the hem giving it a soft finished rather then the normal straight across finish. It is all cut on the bias so drapes perfectly on your body once on. It does not have its Ceil Chapman label but it is absolutely a Chapman. Just a really extraordinary piece that is highly collectible and in excellent condition.
Fully lined in a combination of black silk and jersey that properly weighs it and holds the proper shape inside. It closes with a back painted metal zipper set mid-back. There is one teeny tiny run in the fabric on the skirt but it is on the side near the hip and not apparent when on the body but you do see it when the dress is lying flat so it is mentioned for accuracy.

I just can't get enough of this fabulous little white shift dress with its shiny contrasting black buttons running down the front. This chic little dress is designed by none other then the great Normal Norell who was known for his sharp tailored lines and use of the best possible fabrics. This particular dress is the perfect example of both. It is made from a wonderful linen cotton mix fabric that has a nice crisp and clean feel to it. The tightly spaced, glossy black buttons down the front are bold and really give the dress a surprisingly modern feel even now. Little cap sleeves, a neat collar and just the hint of shape at the waist its simplicity is part of its appeal that allow the starkness of the black and white color and the girl wearing it to take center stage. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a high grade white silk and close with the front buttons. Proper tailored buttonholes and hand finished beautifully inside. Hidden pockets along the side seams. There is the faintest of a small spot near the buttons at the front. Super-size the photo to see - its very faint and was tough to capture. This may come out with additional cleaning. Priced accordingly

Jean Muir is renowned for her cut and use of fluid flowing silk like jerseys and this is a beautiful example of that. It has the added plus if being a version of the same dress design that is currently held in The Metropolitan Museum's collection (see photo attached of the long, red version and you can view it on their site here). I have also included a photo of a similar dress from an editorial done for Encens Magazine in the Fall/Winter 2014 issue.
The cut of the dress is simple, yet dramatic and the fabric choice is fabulous. The light weight fluid crepe silk jersey moves fabulously once on the body. Vertical seams run around the neckline and each opens to allow the volume you see through the body. These seams act almost like a breastplate giving the dress the most interesting visual detailing. Each seam is done with her signature top stitching in a matching olive thread. This dresses would have been made by one single person in her atelier from start to finish - during this time period all of her pieces where meticulously constructed in this manner. It is really spectacular and literally transforms when worn. It has a definite thirties feel to it and the drama of that back cape effect is spectacular. It runs around the shoulders and acts as sleeves. At the back it dips down for great effect. You can belt this to give it more shape and also to highlight the drape of the cape more. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes with a back, painted metal zipper and a hidden snap closes the neck of the cape at the back. The cape is attached. Hidden pockets along each side seam. I see a couple of teeny tiny repairs near the shoulder where there was a pinhole in the fabric and a smudge on the front skirt along with some very very minor color changes - with the volume of fabric none of this can be detected when on - you have to have to flat and fully spread out to see any of these, but is noted for accuracy. Priced accordingly

I suspect that this was from the 1980 Rive Gauche collection as it is eerily similar in design and cut to the 1979 Haute Couture version I have had in recently (see that one here). The dress is amazing and a classic Yves Saint Laurent cut and silhouette. The silk is of the highest possible grade and I adore the red and white dot pattern. It has a very 40s throwback feel and is very chic. The top is loose fitting and the sleeves slightly voluminous above their buttoned cuffs. The skirt is a masterpiece of pleat work and an example of how finely done a pleat can be - each is very deep and uses an excessive amount of fabric that gives the skirt volume when you move. It buttons down the front with a double row of buttons that have a flat enamel red disc inside their gold exterior. These are actually separate from each other and click into place when its buttoned and on. It comes with its original long tie around the neck giving it that signature YSL touch. Add a contrasting belt or wear without. Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Unlined and closes with the buttons you see at the front and large hidden flat hook and eye at the waist. The tie at the neck is attached lightly at the back neck. Tagged a vintage 36 but please check actual listed measurements. Buttons at each cuff

The Mac Tac label was produced by a parent company called Leonard Sunshine and in terms of print and quality it is right up there with Leonard or Pucci pieces in my books. And of all the designs they produced I think the single shoulder pieces are the best. This lovely example of just that is made from a beautifully printed fluid jersey that drapes and moves fabulously. It is also very easy to travel with as it is virtually wrinkle free - it is the kind of piece you can throw into a suitcase and be able to wash and wear. It works from day to night depending on how you style it and what shoes you wear. The base color is a black and the floral print just pops off that neutral backdrop. One side of the shoulder is left completely bare and the other has a wide swath of fabric that sweeps up and over it. The waist is defined and the skirt flares to the floor in a gentle sweep. Excellent, appears unworn condition.

Supermodel length, spectacular silk jersey Quorum gown in a crisp, fresh white that is still pristine and looks unworn. This is so well made and feels so substantial and yet still slinky and sexy at the same time. It is a real marvel of construction and surely an Ossie Clark design from the time he spent there! The skirt falls from the gathered and banded bodice in a long, dramatic swoop that gets wider as it nears the floor. It skims over the body and hips with literally yards and yards of slinky fluid jersey fabric by the time you reach the hem. The front is just spectacular - under each arm at the seam is n extremely very long jersey tie. With these you can wrap them around you as you wish to create an endless possible variety of ways to wear it from loose and easy to a very wrapped and fitted look. Excellent condition and very rare.
Unlined and slips over the head to wear. The top wraps and ties and you can tie it numerous ways. The fabric does have some stretch and is cut on the bias. It is a true pristine white in person. Note that the shoulder straps have stretched out from improper hanging before I acquired it. I have decided to leave them as is and they will require you to tweak them so it falls right on you. This has been taken into account in the pricing. It makes more sense for the new owner to do it and have them fitted perfectly to you rather then to have me guess. The cut allows it to fit almost any size as long as the band that runs above the bust will fit.

A really spectacular set by Yves Saint Laurent done is a brilliant array of colors on black silk. This is a glorious two piece skirt and top set constructed of black silk with a bright abstract shell design strewn across its surface. It is almost weightless and yet constructed so that it drapes on the body perfectly. The skirt is a faux wrap style with an elastic waist and panel of silk wrapping across itself at the front. The top is stunning and very sexy - it has just a single shoulder, leaving the other bare and the bodice is entirely cut on the bias leaving it lose around the waist with a slight flare out at the hip. Once tucked in it looks like one single piece but because it is two you could potentially break it up and wear the pieces separate as well! Museum quality. Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Both pieces are unlined and slip on. The skirt has an elastic waist and the top slips over the head with an attached tie at the top of the single shoulder. Because of the bias cut silk and elasic at the waist this will fit a range of sizes

Florals and Yves Saint Laurent were always the perfect combination and in this darling little silk fine light silk dress that is shown to its best! Over a black back drop are a riot of multi-colored, bright and bold flowers strewn over its surface. This is one of his most iconic prints and I love it! The cut is all Yves as well - the dress has high set shoulders and fabulously wide sleeves that puff out above the elbow. The bodice has a angled neckline and gathers at the bust. From there is skims over the torso with a full cut through the waist and then the skirt flares out in the prettiest of ways. You can wear it lose and easy or cinch in the waist with a belt. Like the infamous "Scandalous" haute couture collection of Spring 1971, this is a nod to the dresses of the 1940s but done in that perfect YSL style that is all its own. It is perfection. Excellent, appears unworn condition

This little beautiful Suzy Perette dress is made of a stunning black lace with a floral pattern built into it and backed by a black fabric, giving it a fabulous texture feel. The front is fitted like a glove with built in molding seaming around the cups for a bombshell silhouette. This curves into a nipped in waist and a tight skirt that hugs the hips. The back and sides of the skirt have built in panels of fabric that are very full and comprised of yards and yards of fabric, all backed by heavy dressmakers paper so it has a sculpted curved fullness that flares out around and behind you. It is photographed here as it naturally falls with no extra crinolines added. The panels are placed with perfection so that this extra skirting falls exactly as the designer intended - shaped and slightly sculptural. Amazing and presents as excellent condition.
Fully lined in black silky rayon and the panels are lined with heavy dressmakers paper in black. It closes with aback metal zipper. There is the slightest fading to the lace here and there - I believe this is from being stored in sun at some point. It is very faint and at first glance just seems to be the way the light hits the fabric. I have marked down the price a bit from what I was originally going to list it but I think its completely forgivable once on and absolutely wearable as is.

What a gorgeous little dress! It is made of a brilliant colored cotton with a floral pattern done in a bright pink, yellow and green. It has an almost flapper-esque cut with its loose and easy lines and drop waist. The top is cut loose with pretty little cap sleeves. The waist is set low with a panel around the hip and the skirt flows from under that. This gives the dress a real easy feel to it and that combined with the great vivid colors used makes for a pretty little day dress whose style is timeless! Love the little round collar and you could change the shape in an instant by adding a belt. Excellent condition

In 1958 Pierre Cardin went to Toykyo and ended up staying a month - he met his longtime muse, model Hiroko Matsumoto, who he invited to France in 1960, and made history when she became the first Japanese model to walk in the Paris collections. While there he also inked a deal with the department store Takashimaya, which led to Pierre Cardin becoming the first Western brand to be manufactured and designed specifically for the Japanese market. That collaboration still exists to today.
Here we have one of two suits I have in the shop from the early days of that groundbreaking collaboration - this one a gorgeous little blue coated linen number that has shows the early beginnings of what was to come in terms of his signature "space age" style. The skirt is a chic little pencil silhouette with the slightest of flares as it nears the hem. The top is chic and simple with a high collar and chic little cap sleeves. The cut through the body is simple and like the skirt slightly flares as it nears the hem. Onto the top is a padded and top stitched "diamond" of fabric and two more adorn the skirt. When on these form a little line of diamonds that is quite fabulous. The fabric choice is heavy enough to hold the shape but not so heavy as to be cumbersome when on. I suspect that this is a very early piece from the collaboration and an excellent example of what was to come on terms of his later work. Excellent condition
The skirt is fully lined in a deep blue silk and the top is unlined but finished to high standards inside. The top closes with a fine, back painted metal zipper and completely unzips. This is a fabulous and brilliantly printed nylon dress that can go from beach to cocktails to dancing! Made from a French nylon it has the most amazing and bright floral print on a black base. If you have not encountered a piece in this fabric before - think high end swimsuit fabric! This fabric wears amazingly - you can literally roll it in a ball in your suitcase and wear it with a quick steam as soon as you arrive to where you are going. It can get wet, it always looks right and crisp and it's sexy as hell. A plunging triangle cut halter bodice sits above a high, defined waistline and the skirt falls to the floor in a widening A-line. It's fabulous and it's Miss Dior. Excellent condition.

Killer late seventies early eighties piece from Loris Azzaro that would have been at home at Studio 54. Azzaro was a worn on a regular basis by such beauties as Raquel Welch and Sophia Loren - bombshells in other worlds. When I first saw this I almost passed it by - on the hanger is does not look like it will fall properly on the body and the proportions look off. However, once on a body it transforms (as all the best clothing does) into this wicked little plunging dress that still has strong lines, but ones that work and it is so sexy. Few pieces I have seen are plunged that far and have that strong a shoulder - it is like he took all the stereotypes of power and sex and dramatically emphasized them! Made of a slinky black jersey, the skirt has lots of movement while clinging to your curves and it falls to the floor in a swish of fabric. The low waist and hip is emphasized with wide gathered banding. The shoulders are insane with strong shape and padding. The front is of course the main attraction on this one and that dramatic plunge is edged with a series of glittering rhinestones that further emphasize the line to the waist and below. Amazing! Excellent condition.
The skirt has an inner black jersey skirt that serves as its lining and the bodice is unlined. It closes with a series of wide spaced fabric covered buttons to the waist and a back metal and nylon zipper below that. Padded shoulders

Supermodel length, spectacular light nylon jersey print dress or cover up is a knock out of a dress that you will want to grab time after time. This is so well made and feels so easy to wear and yet at the same time has a touch of high glamor. The skirt falls from the waist in a long, dramatic swoop that gets wider as it nears the floor. It skims over the hips and then there are just yards and yards of that beautifully printed fabric by the time you reach the hem. The bodice is just as spectacular - the top extends into a very long tie that is attached around and then you can wrap these as you wish to create a more halter feel or create a sexy strapless option. The fabric is very light in weight and has just a touch of transparency to it. It will easily go poolside to market to evening and travels very well as the fabric does not easily wrinkle. This particular set is absolutely divine. I love that it is two pieces as you can break it up and wear them separate or as the suit as intended. This fabric is amazing - it is a rich, heavy cream silk that falls wonderfully and is of very high quality. Onto this is a design done in green gold tube beads and faux pearls, densely spaced applied to the cuffs, collar, hem and bottom of the pants. This really makes the set feel lush and rich in feel and the workmanship is exquisite. The pants are flat fronted and have a sleek flared leg that instantly adds a sense of height to the wearer. The tunic sits over the pants, skimming the torso and flaring out at the hip. It has a high neck, perfectly formed bodice and long sleeves. There is a simple fabric attached belt that circles the waist but it is set to give just a hint of shape. I love the wide, flared bead, sequin and pearl adorned sleeves - they are the perfect finish to the ensemble. Michael Novarese designed gowns for many of the stars during the 60s-80s including the likes of Jane Russell, Liza Minelli, Judy Garland, Dinah Shore, Elizabeth Taylor and many others. I love his work, particularly the earlier pieces from the 60s and seventies like this one. Excellent condition
Both pieces are fully lined in an off-white silk. The tunic closes with a hand set back painted metal zipper and the pants close with a hand set zipper and hook & eye at the waist. Hand finished throughout. The bead work is hand done and very heavy and dense - the workmanship on this set is exquisite.

I love this floating confection of a dress made from the most amazing green and gold metallic thread shot silk chiffon! Really a stunning fabric that is as light as air and moves perfectly! The silk chiffon base has beautiful medallions of metallic thread worked into it. The sleeves are left unlined and each has an elastic at the wrist so you get a soft billow effect. I love the how it just slips over the head and the neckline is left soft and open with a tie running through the neck to create soft gathers. The sash belt is is a combination of the same fabric and a gold metal cord and you can wrap it for added shape or lave it loose and easy. It feels as light as air when on - the lining is just a wisp of nude silk chiffon so the dress weighs very little! A really gorgeous piece from a great American designer. Excellent condition.
Fully lined through the body in a nude silk chiffon. Slips over the head to wear. Has its original matching belt.

This Pauline Trigere dress is a work of perfect construction and sleek and simple lines. Made of a blue lurex knit that is detailed with large rhinestones. It has a real sophistication to it - a look she was known for. The neck is very high at the front with a simple rounded, seamless collar to detail it and the bust and shoulders are kept simple. It skims over the body in a long and elegant column that runs right down to the floor. All the detail work on this dress centers around the long lines and cut of the dress. It is then detailed with large rhinestones which help to pick up the silver thread running through the fabric. These rhinestones wrap around each cuff like wearable jewels and cover the outline of the amazing pockets that sit on each hip. The overall effect is just beautiful and so sculptural in feel. It is just an amazing piece. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Each pocket is lined.

This is a lovely and versatile dress that really has that eighties feel. It has that typical eighties cut - over-sized through the upper body with wide shoulders and lots of fabric so its sits loose and easy and then a more defined skirt. The waist is elastic so you can wear it where you wish - I have shown it styled low around the hips so the skirt is long but you could also pull it up to wear it mid hip or right at the waist for a higher hem line. Each sleeve is full and wide with a buttoned cuffed finished. I love the light knit metallic lurex fabric - it weighs very little and is almost like wearing a giant Tee. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips over the head to wear. Buttons at the front, elastic at the waist. The cut and elastic at the waist makes the size very variable - a smaller girl can wear it as an over-sized piece.

This absolutely stunning, silk & feather dress is by Geoffey Beene, who one of my favorite American designers. This is made to demi-couture standards and it shows. It is a fantastical combination of a bright orange-coral silk with amazing feather detailing at the cuffs and circling the entire hem. Each sleeve and the hem is finished with a beautiful and dramatic circle of fluffy, soft, full feathers giving the dress a dramatic, over-the-top feel. It is cut very simply with long sleeves, a high neck with a neat little collar and a full cut through the body. It is almost sculptural in feel as the hem flares out from the more fitted bodice. I love the slanted pockets that sit on each hip - these act as a design element in and of themselves. That shocking blast of color paired with the high drama of the feathers make for a real show stopper. Museum quality condition
Fully lined in a matching colored silk and closes at the back with a hand set, painted metal zipper. Ribbon finished interior at hem and cuffs. Lots of hand finishing and the feathers are glossy and there is no shedding. The color is perhaps a touch brighter in person. There is some very very slight "grubbiness" to the collar and one faint slightly lighter spot near the seam on the side that will not photo and because of where it sits does not show when on.

What a stunner! Made by Larry Aldrich this exceptional 1960s cocktail dress is made from a lovely bright orange and gold silk brocade fabric. The fabric is very unusual and the abstract print that runs over its surface is very pretty - it has a very "mod" feel to it. I love that it has delicate pops of a soft running through it - a color combination that should not works, yet does brilliantly. The cut is a simple shift shape that gently flares out as is nears the hem. The waist is left undefined and the shape has an sculpted feel and is very sixties chic. It closes with a hidden set zipper down the front so you can zip it right up to create a high neck or leave it open for a more daring look. It is utterly gorgeous! In person you get an extra bit of richness as you can really see the 3 dimensional texture the fabric has as well as the fabulous shimmering gold effect. If you love the pictures you will love it more in person! An exceptional vintage dress. Excellent condition

This gorgeous and amazing 1960s caftan is the epitome of luxe hippie chic. Looking like it could have been worn by Talitha Getty this is an amazing and easy to wear piece that will add an instant dose of glamor to any evening. The base fabric is a semi transparent silk chiffon over which gold metallic thread and little gold sequins are hand applied. This paired with the dramatic shape and cut make it a must have. I love the dramatic panel of sequin and gold that runs down the front and back and how the front plunges for a bit of skin to show. The sleeves are cut wide and on an angle and left unlined so have a light and sexy feel. It has its original matching belt that is heavily covered in sequins and gold so you can cinch it the caftan in for more definition and gathers at the waist or leave super loose and full. It is amazing and a great original piece. Excellent condition!
Fully lined in a black tissue silk and slips on to wear. Has its original tie belt so you can adjust and add some shape. The caftan cut will allow a variety of sizes to wear it

This is the near twin of the set was photoed for L'Officiel in 1976 - that red version that we had that sold already can be seen here. This version of that set is a day version with the same print done in a purple and turquoise. It is equally as gorgeous and consists of a top that can be worn as a top or layered as a light jacket and a day length skirt that has a beautiful cut - slightly different from the one we had in red. This one was made to be this length. The top is cut to be worn loose and if you pop over to the red listing you can see where I have photoed it tucked as presented in the editorial photo. Here we present it un-tucked so you can see the full thing. The sleeves are cut wide and full and the front closes with matching silk fabric covered buttons but set so there is a wide key hole that runs down the front. It is edged in gold piping that though discreet, adds a beautiful finish. The skirt flows to the just past the knee and has flat pleats around the hip so its skims the hips beautifully. Once past the hip these open and allow volume and movement. It is absolutely beautiful and a wonderfully documented and rare set. Excellent condition
The top is unlined and closes with a button at the low neck and three buttons near the waist. The skirt closes with a hand set side zipper and hook & eye at the waist and is fully lined in a solid color purple silk chiffon.

If you are an Ossie Clark fan then you instantly will have recognized this dress as being one of his designs. It is made from his signature moss crepe fabric which gives it the beautiful drape that you see! I love the classic cut and Ossie touch of sexuality in the way the front is set to cross over itself and plunge. The shoulders are finished with a pretty and feminine flutter sleeve. The bodice ends in a panel of pleated fabric that drapes down the front for a little extra volume. Attached ties circle the waist and add a soft suggestion of shape. I love the soft purple color that is a very unusual find - normally these are in more basic black versions. Presents as excellent condition
Unlined and slip over the head with attached ties at the waist that you can tie to add shape. There is the slightest of color variation - priced accordingly. It is more of a true purple then the cornflower blue-purple it photoed as.
