c1967 Pierre Cardin Demi-Couture Cut Out Neckline Dress
I believe this to be from the 1967 "Cosmocorps" collection but the main line not the ready to wear line. You can see the very similar design treatment at the front with that incredible scooped out detail in the photos from that year provided. The best Cardin designs have this molded sculptural element to them and this one has that in spades. The dress is constructed from an inky black wool of a mid-weight that holds the sculpted shape perfectly. It is cut in a sleek little A-line with a fabulous mod feel. The dress is meant to define the shape rather then the body under it. At the neck there is a contrasting panel in blue that has one of his signature curved cut outs. This gives the dress a graphic pop and is quite fabulous. This same blue is used at each cuff. This is Cardin at his best and is an instantly recognizable design. It is very rare and very special. Excellent condition with two small notes
Fully lined in a black silk and closes with a back zipper and hook & eye at the back neck. Each cuff closes with a black fabric covered button. There is a teeny thinning of the fabric at the neck that is barely noticeable and there are two nips out of the fabric near the seam at one side. See the reference photos for both areas. These have been there since I acquired it and the dress has been specialty cleaned. They came through with no problems and are strong and stable.
