I Have a Question
The Spring 2005 Prada show is one of the label's most iconic and recognizable. In her review of the show, Vogue's Sarah Mower stated: "Just when the whole fashion world has turned ladylike—thanks, of course, to Miuccia Prada—she's tossed it all in the air, looking for a certain freedom." I wanted to move toward something more young and sporty, tall and narrow" she stated.... In broad terms, the news from Prada included a different silhouette (short hemlines, worn mostly with flat sandals), a return to one of her favorite palettes (brown-ochre-rust), and as always, lots of artful eccentricity. There was also a Jamaican dance hall vibe, with reggae on the sound system, Rasta stripes in the knitwear, and Caribbean crochet in the raffia hats and cardigan coats." This is one of the striped skirts from that collection and it is wonderful.
This is the twin of the skirt that walked the runway for Look 35 and it is instantly recognizable as being Prada. With this one we see her masterful hand at mixing colour. The colours on the skirt are just extraordinary it combines a bright orange collar with deep purple toned bands. The result is this brilliant burst of colour that is just wonderful to see. It is made from a very fine silk with a finish that gives it a slight sheen. This fabric choice helps to hold the shape and volume. It is more fitted around the upper hips and then it is perfectly pleated with wide knife pleats that have sharply defined edges and deep folds. This gives the skirt lots of movement and shape. It is just gorgeous. The silk is light in weight and all of the shape and structure is created by the precise pleating. It is fabulous. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition with one minor note below
Unlined and closes with a hidden set side zipper. Tagged a Prada 40. I see one pinhead sized for on the fabric near the waist and there is a tiny hole in the fabric that is on an inside pleat so not seen them worn. Please see the photo after the label shot

I Have a Question
The Char label is one of the best of the hand made leather goods labels from the sixties and seventies. It has a cult like following because of the quality and sheer fabulousness of their pieces. Char made these pieces from approx 1968 to about 1975-76 in Mexico. Some of the best leather craftsman in the world were there at the time and the pieces they made are fantastic.
This skirt is wonderful and an excellent example of their work. They hand-dyed their leathers and suedes using colours that instantly make you think of the desert. They loved to use a combination of suede and leather that they hand cut and whip-stitched into place to make up their creations. This is a wonderful example of their work. It is a wrap skirt that has been made to create a patchwork landscape scene that goes all the way around the entire skirt. Each part of the design was individually cut and then pieced together to create the design that you see. Everything would have had to have been pre-planned and the and for would have taken many hours to complete. To wear it you simple wrap and tie it in place with the rawhide ties. It is a very unusual piece and its gorgeous too. Excellent condition with a minor note below
Unlined, hand made and whip-stitched. It closes with a leather ties. At some point someone added a series of hooks and one of them has stitching that you see form the front. You could easily adjust the hooks and ties to fit a variety of sizes. I have given the measurements of the back seam to seam but you can easily go up or down a couple inches in either direction. It shows normal patina for leather of this age with the occasional scuff and wear that just adds to its authentic vintage feel. Please see the last photo for the most apparent spot on it.

I Have a Question
The Wolkenstricker label launched in 1979 and they have been making beautiful cardigans one piece at a time ever since. You can still buy them today and I found one site where modern versions are selling for just under $1700USD. On their site they say (in rough translation thanks to google) that; 'We see knitting as an art and create something extraordinary with every model. We create garments that underlines the personality and attracts attention. The valuable manual work characterizes every cardigan. Creating the cut and the knitting techniques used a garment that excels in quality and execution cannot be compared with normal commerce. Most of our customers never part with their treasures and even inherit them. This is sustainability!' I have two vintage ones from the 1980s today and each is very special and unique.
This one has been done in a deep moss green that is then mixed with pretty pink flowers. It is very pretty and easy to wear. The actual knit is a mix of a cotton and silk so is very hardy and yet soft and has a beautiful strength to it that helps it to retain its shape. I love how the edges of the cuffs and hem are finished in a jagged knit pattern. Then the entire neckline is finished in a panel of hand embroidered flowers that circle around the collar. Each sleeve has another spray of flowers at its cuff and the two tiny pockets that sit on the front are also finished with flowers. The flowers are very prominent off the knit and just lovely to see. The body of the cardigan is finished with little 3D knots that are scattered over the entire thing. This added bit of texture is fabulous. It closes at the front with little engraved metal buttons and I love how each one has been secured with a 'W' in a matching thread. It is the perfect finishing touch. This one looks to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes down the front with the buttons as shows. It still has an extra button sewn into an inner seam. Entirely made by hand.

I Have a Question
Jacques Fath showed his first collection of just twenty garments in the spring of 1937. It was received well and he steadily built a strong clientele, eventually expanding into America. The label was shuttered in 1957 after Fath's death three years earlier. In 1992 the label was revived and for the next ten years or so continued to present runway collections. This dress is from that period in the 1990s and is a wonderful piece. It has a definitive nod to Fath's earlier work with its high Hollywood drama. It is fabulous.
This is a wonderful cropped feather cape that is quite wonderful. The color of the feathers is a pale and pretty soft ivory. It hooks at the neck and then simply falls over the shoulders to wear. The neckline is quite high so that it frames the face beautifully. I love the short cropped cut to it and the way the feathers are set in distinct rows with a border of feathers around that to add a little interest and contrast. The choice of the soft down feathers gives it a pillow soft feel and makes it very romantic and feminine. It has that bit of a old Hollywood feel to it and the length means it can top just above anything from jeans to a full on wedding look. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a matching ivory silk organza set by hand and hooks at the neck to close. There is a slight bit of grubbiness to the feathers here and there but it is very minor. The easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This one is a colour that reminds me of the colour of a natural linen flax. It is very pretty and easy to wear. Really the perfect neutral. The actual knit is a mix of a cotton and silk so is very hardy and yet soft and has a beautiful strength to it that helps it to retain its shape. It is edged in a baby blue and has a tie running through the neckline in that same blue. The entire neckline is finished in a wide panel of hand embroidered flowers that circle all the way around the back. Each sleeve has another spray of flowers at its cuff. I Have a Question
This is one of three tops that my client had made about 15 years ago using a combination of new with antique / vintage fabrics and detailing from various vintage and early era pieces that were beyond repair or found as fragments. Each is a one off and the only one like it ever made. This one uses a black silk fabric for the body of the top. The top is cut into an easy to wear sleeveless tank that you just slip over the head to wear and hook at the back of the neck above the keyhole there. The back falls in a sleek and easy line and then the front has an applied panel to give it a tuxedo feel at the front. Hand applied to that front bib detail is a fantastic found netting that has been stitched into stripes and then an early bit of antique lace is hand applied over that. A little rounded collar of vintage silk in a cream is the perfect finish. Her tailor was couture trained and all three of these tops are beautifully made. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on to wear with a hook at the back of the neck. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little. The loose and easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.

The top is cut into an easy to wear long sleeve top or jacket that you just snap to close down the front. The main part of the top is made from the kimono fabric and then there are parts of an antique kimono applied to that. The applied parts are amazing and have a heavy 3D feel with their golden metal threads and heavy embroidery. These are hand applied to the front and on one shoulder at the back. It is very soft and easy to wear and slouches on the dress form and will sit even better on an actual body. It is the perfect topper so just about anything. I Have a Question
The construction on this coat is wonderful. The Marty Modell label was out of Switzerland and they produced well made higher end pieces that were sold in select salons around the world. They are very well made pieces and this one is a greta example of their work
The choice of the black silk jacquard fabric that the coat is made out of makes it very easy to wear for multiple occasions. It would have been considered a formal evening piece during its time period but now a modern girl could wear almost anything with it. It is made from a high end black silk brocade that has some weight and structure to it. This allows it to keep that wonderful shape that you see. The cut of the coat is very simple and elegant. The collar is high and neat and cut more on the wide side. This frames the face perfectly and gives it a bit of that Balenciaga funnel neck feel. Where it closes at the neck there is a small and neat flat bow for detailing and then there are two large fabric covered buttons under that. The sleeves are straight and end at the elbow for that perfect feel of this time period. Under the buttons the coat swings open and is quite wide and full by the time it reaches the hem. The photos don't quite convey the volume it has and the generous cut through the body. It will fall much much better on an actual person. It is very beautiful. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a fine black silk and closes with the two buttons at the front and two hidden snaps under the bow at the neck. It is a light-medium weight. Hand finished. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. The loose and easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes

Each is a one off and the only one like it ever made. This one uses a pale lavender silk chiffon fabric for the body of the top and it comes with a matching silk tank that you wear underneath for coverage since the top layer has a touch of transparency to it. The colour in person is far better then how it photoed and has a more soft true purple feel. The top is cut into an easy to wear classic T shape that you just slip over the head to wear and that layers over the inner tank. Hand applied to the front is a fantastic found hand beaded floral piece from the twenties. This is set to run across the front of the top and adds such beauty to the piece. I Have a Question
This is an incredible cropped fur jacket and the workmanship is of the best possible quality. The design is typical of the furs being produced during this time period and this one is exceptional. It would definitely been a high end piece and the quality it was made with still shows even after some 65 odd years later. It is made from a dark natural mink. The pelts are still very soft and supple and have a bit of a reddish undertone to them in certain lights. It is cut with rounded shoulder and an almost cape like feel through the body. Each sleeve is wide and full. It has been constructed from rows of the fur that are interspersed with rows of a black braided silk cording. The cording has its own incredible pattern worked through it and the final effect is beautiful. The collar is set high and wider across the neck. It is a beauty and a stunning vintage fur. Excellent condition

I have a small collection of historically important, key designer labelled vintage furs and fur trimmed pieces stored away in my archives that I will be slowly posting on the site over the next couple of years until I have none left. I will no longer be buying furs for the shop moving forward and have not purchased anything for several years now. I feel like times have changed and while there still is a place for vintage furs for some, including collectors and historians, many modern girls are choosing other options. Many of the pieces in my collection are representative of the designer during a set time period in history that was different then our modern outlook. I have decided that the best course to handle this controversial issue is to let the pieces I have go rather then sit in a cold storage unit. Fur coats are final sale.

I Have a Question
Turnbull & Asser was founded in 1885 by Messrs Regan Turnbull who was a hosier and Ernest Asser whose background was in sales. The original London shop focused on men's hosiery. They soon expanded to meet the needs of their wealthy clients and offered a bespoke service for the making of gentlemen’s clothes. In 1895 they changed their name to “Turnbull & Asser”. They have a long and lustrous history and still operate to this day. This is a men's piece but is slim cut and works for any gender. In the 1950s The Gentleman’s Magazine described the smoking jacket as: “A kind of short robe de chambre, of velvet, cashmere, plush, merino or printed flannel, lined with bright colours, ornamented with brandenbourgs, olives or large buttons.” This one is in immaculate conditon. The company still makes versions of these today with new one's being several thousand dollars. It is very difficult to date this since they have made versions of them since the 1920s and this one is so perfect. It does feels older though and is in perfect condition
The jacket is made from a black velvet that is as deep a black as you can get. It has a slim cut and the shoulders are sharp and tailored. Each sleeve is cut on a slight curve to follow the shape of the arm in the proper tailoring manner. It flares out slightly as it nears the hem and the interior is lined with a crisp white silk satin that is hand set. Pockets sit on each hip and I love the piping detailing on the flap of each. The collar runs down to the waist and is set with a contrasting and more matted ribbed silk. Braiding edges the collar and extends down the front edges. The jacket closes with huge front frog knots made of the same black braided cording. I love that you can literally close the knots to either side depending on which is more comfortable. I assume this was done originally to accommodate both left and right handed gentleman. It is fabulous and a great find. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a white silk satin and closes with the fron braided loops and knots. Light padding in each shoulder and pockets on each hip. It looks to have never been worn or worn very little.

yves saint laurent
Fabulous 1980s Yves Saint Laurent Oversized Metallic Bronze Quilted & Fur Trimmed Jacket
I Have a Question
This jacket is from the Yves Saint Laurent variation line which was an experimental lower priced lined that last for a short time period during the 80s. Most of the pieces you see from it are not what I look for from his work on a day to day basis but this jacket had such great lines I could not resist picking it up. There was just something so young and fresh about it and it is really in par with the regular label snd what he did in the couture line for this type of look that I decided to make an exception. It is quite fabulous actually.
The cut of the jacket is magnificent and it has all the fullness and impact of its more couture counterparts. The cut through the body is very full and meant to b oversized. Each sleeve is also cut to be incredibly full and then narrows down a bit as it reaches the cuff. The body of the coat is made from a deep copper coloured nylon that has a bit of a metallic finish to it. This is then lightly padded inside and cross quilted so you get a bit of a puff jacket feel. The neck line is high and it has no closures down the front. It simply settles into place after slipping it on. There are pockets on each hip. To give it more of a wow factor it has been edged in a deep dark shaved fur that I believe is shaved fox. This runs round the neck and then down the front to curve all the way around the hem. Each sleeve ends in a ring of the same fur. The fur has an added bit of texture created by cleverly shaving it into the pattern that you see. Inside it is fully lined in the fur as well except for the sleeves that have an inner quilted lining. I love the contrast between the metallic colour and the statement the fullness of the jacket makes. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in the same fur as the exterior detailing with the sleeves finished in a quilted lining. It has no closures at the front and just slips on to wear. Pockets on each side. Padding in the shoulders. It appears to have been worn very little, if at all. It is meant to be worn oversized

I Have a Question
This little coat is wonderful. The cut of this coat has that perfect 1970s vibe. It is simple and sleek so that the brilliant colour that it has been done in can take centre stage. It is cut with a classic double button front, straight sleeves and is fairly straight cut through the body with just a suggestion of shape through the waist. It skims over the torso and falls in a slim silhouette to just under the knee depending on your height. All of the edges are top stitched and this adds the perfect little touch of detailing to the coat. The buttons are the same colour and I love the little top stitched flap pockets on each hip. The collar has the slightly oversized rounded notch shape that was done so perfectly during this time period. The colour is the best part and in person it is even better then how it photoed. It's wonderful. Excellent condition
Fully lined through the body in a pink coloured silk satin and closes with the buttons you see at the front. Pockets on each hip that are functional. There is the faintest lightest bit of darkening near the front hem but you really have to look for it and it is only visible in certain light

I Have a Question
Jerry Sorbara is considered to be one fo the best furriers in the US. At 22 he started with another famous furrier, Ben Kahn. It was 1961 and the pieces he designed soon developed a following. In 1962 he started to push the envelope in the well established fur field when he convinced Kahn to let him start dying furs. By 1975 he was such an integral part of the company that he asked for a partnership and when he was laughed at, he walked out and started his own label. Jackie Onassis, Muhammad Ali, Anna Nicole Smith and Elizabeth Taylor were clients. Furs ranged from $8000 to over $50,000 and that was in the 1980s. Jerry said in an interview once “We always like to take our time and get things right. I try to make coats with no excuses. My coats, they have to be the best. And they are the best.”
This is an insane and generously cut white Mongolian fur jacket that dates to the late 1970s, early 1980s and is absolutely fabulous. I have seen many the Mongolian fur jackets but to find one that still a bright and gorgeous shade of white is special. Normally they tend to be a more creamy ivory but this one a gorgeous brighter white. It is also a bit more special because it is cut to a longer length. That past the hip length and the sheer joy of its shagginess makes for quite the dramatic statement piece. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little and is in very good condition. The cut will work on a smaller frame to feel more over-sized, while the actual measurements will allow for a fuller framed girl to also carry it off. I love the big oversized collar and that is has soft felt line pockets. It is gorgeous. Excellent condition
Fully lined with a white silky rayon. No closures. It has a touch of a vintage fur storage smell to it. The easy cut should fit a range of sizes

This is an exceptional example of upcycling. This is a custom made coat that utilizes the fabric from the traditional Tehuantepec embroidered cloth. Those original textiles are absolutely beautiful examples of Mexican textile art. They were hand woven and were part of the traditional dress from the Tehuantepec area of Oaxaca. Frida Kahlo was known to wear pieces with this embroidered work on them. All of the embroidered parts to the coat that you see are from that traditional and original fabric. The workmanship is incredible and it is a stunning example of the art of Mexican textiles.
The coat is gorgeous. The back and front are made of large panels of the embroidered fabric. The colours are amazing. Bright vivd corals are mixed with greens and yellow and red. In between the embroidery is a soft purple velvet. The purple is then picked up by the more modern wool jersey that makes up the sleeves and the bottom hem of the coat. The solid colour anchors the bright mix on the body and gives it a more modern feel. The coat is easy to wear with it skimming over the body cut. The shoulders drop slightly into the sleeves and there is no collar to deter from the embroidery. It closes down the front with a series of fabric covered snaps so that when it is closed the line of the embroidery is not broken up. It is generously cut through the body so should work on a range of sizes and body types. It is the perfect and easy to wear jacket that adds an instant pop of happy colour to your day mixed with a stunning example of early hand made textiles. Excellent condition
Fully lined an a black silk and closes with fabric covered hidden snaps down the front.

I Have a Question
The Western world in the twenties to the sixties had a special fascination with the Far East and this highly influenced the fashion of that time period. Japan and China began to export and sell pieces made specifically for the tourist market that combined classic design elements of those respective cultures with a slight western twists to the cut and colours. These embroidered jackets where amongst the most prized and this one is a stunning black silk one embroidered with absolutely brilliant colors. You will often see the shorter ones cropped to hit at the hip but I am always on the lookout for these longer ones. They are harder to find and when you do find one it is an absolute brilliant piece to add to your closet. They are an instant jolt of colour and craft and can be flung over everything from jeans to a ball gown. This one is stunning and made from a high grade fine black silk that is then completely covered with the embroidery that you see. All of the embroidered work is done in a wash of absolutely brilliant colours. The pattern embroidered onto the silk is primarily flowers but there are also bright colourful birds worked through the design. It is exquisite. It is also lovely and light in weight which makes it easy to wear. The shoulders are soft and the body is cut loose and generously. Front pockets sit on each hip and it closes down the front with a series of frog knots. I love it. Excellent condition
Fully lined in black tissue silk and closes with frog knots at the front. Pockets on each hip. The loose cut should fit a range of sizes.

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Please purchase accordingly. This garment has been professionally cleaned, pressed and is odor free. Thoroughly checked over before shipping, it will be ready to wear upon arrival.

I Have a Question
This is a stunning example of the fur pieces being produced during this time period. This was the beginning of the movement of treating fur more like a fabric and making coats that had far more style to them then the previous norm. It is made from alternating strips of a deep brown mink, an ivory mink and then a dark brown leather that is so deep in colour it picks up as black against the other two. The fur is supple, shiny and very soft. The fur is set in on angled chevron rows with the bands of leather in between. This creates an incurable visual effect. It is cut in a classic sixties cut that flares out as it reaches the bottom hem. Each sleeves widens out to a flare finish at the cuff and I love how the pattern is taken down right to the ends of each sleeve. The collar is notched and made from the darker mink and this then runs down the front and around the hem to anchor the angled pattern. It does up with textured black dome buttons at the front. Pockets sit along the edge of the seams at each hip. It has been properly stored and cared for and appears to have been worn very little if at all. No splitting, issues or shedding. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a deep brown silk satin and closes with buttons down the front. Pockets on each hip. I see no bald spots or shedding. The pelts are supple and soft. The fur has the slightest bit of a vintage storage smell. Very minor. It is still supple and is stable with no signs of any shedding that would indicate that it is breaking down.

I Have a Question
A patterned version of this coat was photographed for The Daily Telegraph Magazine in September 1973 and featured Jean Shrimpton and Barbara Miller. I am very pleased to have an all black version of it for the shop as it is exceptional. This coat is made even more interesting because the tag on it is from the short lived and very rare Maternity line that Biba did. These were made in the same fabric and styles as the regular line but with room added for a growing bump. It is extremely rare to find pieces with this label which makes this coat that much more fascinating
The coat is wonderful. It has those fabulous Art Deco lines that Barbara Hulanicki favoured. The extra room it has through the body just makes it even more fabulous to wear with or without a baby bump to go with it. It is made out of a light in weight ultra soft black faux fur. The pile of the fabric lays flat and close to the cloth and it has a swirly textured feel to it. The fabric is very soft and supple. The coat falls beautifully once on. The coat zips up the front to a high funnel neck. It is more fitted through the shoulders and then falls, swinging outwards with all of the volume created by the way the fabric has been cut and pieced together. The shoulders and sleeves are spectacular. Each shoulder is set with a high capped cut. This was something that Hulanicki became known for and pieces with this cut are among the most coveted. The sleeves are equally as fabulous. They are cut wide and full and get wider as they reach their ends. This is from the Big Biba store era and it is an exceptional piece of fashion history that is still so very wearable and chic. Excellent condition
Fully lined in black silk. It zippers to close at the front and has pockets on each side. Perhaps the lightest of matting to the inside collar. A teeny bit of wear here and there along the edges of the cuffs. If the arm opening will work it should fit a range of sizes.

You will often see embroidered versions of these come up for sale but these beaded and sequin pieces are a little harder to find. These were the most prized both then and now. This one is stunning and is probably from the early 1960s. It is made from a red silk satin and the red is a clear crisp red. Onto this fabric it is an extensive pattern depicting dragons and birds. The designs are a 3D raised pattern made from beads and sequins and are all hand applied to the jacket. All of the edges are also densely beaded and sequinned so that you get this brilliant metallic feel and incredible raised texture over the entire thing. It is lovely and light which makes it so easy to wear. It closes with a oversized front zipper done in a matching red. Excellent condition with a small note below.

I Have a Question
This is perhaps one of the best 1940s tops I have ever had in the shop. It is made out of a black moss crepe and it was this exact kind of a piece that you can see where Ossie Clark would have gotten his inspiration from. It has the feel of one of his pieces but with those extraordinary hand embellishments added. It has a high neckline with an attached tie that extends out from either side of the neck. The top skims over the bust and it is heavily gathered across the shoulders. It buttons down the front with a tightly spaced row of hand covered buttons and hand made and placed fabric loops. The waist is brought in slightly and then it flares out a bit under that. The sleeves are amazing. They are huge and cut to pouf and balloon out over the wrist. Just the lines of the top are perfection on its own. And if that was not enough it was then embroidered and beaded and all of the detailing is done by hand. The band at the waist is entirely covered with a combination of raised embroidery, metal thread and beadwork done with the tiniest possible seed beads. Then on each sleeve there is a huge medallion of the same embroidery and bead work. The colours pop off the black beautifully and the fact that this was all done by hand is just amazing. It is truly a piece of history and a work of art. It is a superb example of this time period. Excellent condition.
Unlined and closes down the front with a series of fabric covered buttons and fabric loops. Each sleeve ends in a gathered elastic cuff. It is in remarkable condition for its age. It is meant to fit generously. It might fit a large if you are narrow through the shoulders

azzedine alaia
Gorgeous Fall 2000 Azzedine Alaia Documented Flared Stretch Knit Floral Pattern Skirt
I Have a Question
Azzedine Alaia pieces are always a delight to find. His knits were all self developed and are among the best out there. He started his career as a dressmakers assistant and copied couture gown for wealthy Tunisian clients. In 1957 he moved to Paris and worked for Christian Dior for a grand total of five days. He then moved to Guy Laroche and quietly started to get private commissions on the side. By 1960 he was doing mainly private work and within a few years established a small salon on the Left Bank where he continued designing privately. He stayed at that salon until 1984. During this time period he also did private freelance work for other designers including Claude Montana, Thierry Mugler and even Yves Saint Laurent. It was not until 1981 that he launched his first official collection and by 1983 he had a boutique in Beverley Hills. The French Ministry of Culture honored him with the Designer of the Year award in 1985. In 1993 he decided that the established fashion show schedule was not for him and he eschewed producing a new collection every season. Instead he showed when his collections were ready and continued to do so until his death in 2017.
Alaia cut the pattern and assembled the prototype for every single piece that he created. He was one of the few designers that often worked on a live model and many give this as the credit for his incredibly flattering pieces. He hated undergarments and instead made his pieces work to shape the body on their own. He developed his own proprietary knits and they are this incredible combination of give and take. This skirt is from the Fall 2000 collection and was made in both a long and short length as well as two colour ways. Included here is an editorial shot of the more pink, long version of the skirt and it gives you an idea of its incredible fit. The upper part of the skirt hugs the hips to shape them and then the skirt flares out from there. I love the gored effect created by the knit opening into angled vertical seams. Inside each panel are flowers that trail down the full length of this part of the skirt. Each is woven directly into the knit and the colours are gorgeous and vibrant. Very easy to wear and a great piece of Alaia to add to any collection. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on to wear. The fabric has stretch so should fit a range of sizes. The measurements below are the comfortable range of stretch when laying flat. It will probably stretch a little more on an actual body. Tagged a vintage Alaia XS

I Have a Question
This late 1940s topper is very chic and dramatic. Elmar Designs was a small millinery shop that operated out of New York from the 1940s to the 1960s. One of their hats is held in the Indianapolis Museum of Art's permanent collection and they seem to have centered primarily around making hats with veils. This example of their work is quite charming. The top portion is a flat disc that has deep charcoal grey and black feathers placed around an center midpoint. Detailing the midpoint is a little spay of feathers placed to hide the ends of the ones that extend out and around the head. Under this is a little silk net veil that dips down to just past the cheeks. There is a little black velvet bow that scoops the netting up at one side and you can really play with the placement of it to create different looks. It is very chic and film noir. Excellent condition
The veil is 27" around and about 8" deep from the crown.

I Have a Question
This jacket is dated to 2003 and showcases McQueens strong tailoring background and master cutting abilities. This is a a piece that would have been produced for retail and was not shown on the runway. Something that you see often with his work during this period as his popularity was skyrocketing and demand for his work was booming. The jacket is cut with a nod to a traditional men's tuxedo. I love that it has been made out of a beautiful ivory colour instead of a classic black. This gives it an unexpected bit of freshness and lightness to the very refined cut. The shoulder are sharp with just a tiny turn up at their peaks. Each sleeve is cut on a slight curve in the proper manner of tailoring a sleeve and each has a row of four buttons to finish them at their ends. The blazer is shaped with a female body in mind and is cut in at the waist for shape. A matching cream coloured silk satin lapel curves around the neckline and runs down to the waist. To close the jacket there is an attached pair of French cuff style buttons that you put through proper buttonholes on either side. Flap pockets sit on each hip and a there is a single breast pocket. The inside is lined in a cream silk satin that matches the lapel. The workmanship is meticulous and it is a beautiful jacket. Excellent condition

I Have a Question
We had a photo of a gold leather set from the spring 1982 Yves Saint Laurent show in our archive files and this skirt is very similar but finished in a silver instead of a gold. You can also see the similar buttons used on the gold set that looks to be a match to the button closes the waist on this skirt. This version looks to have been cut a little longer and is more of a true pencil shape. I love its flattering cut. This might just be the perfect silver leather skirt. It is very high quality and very well made. The leather is light in weight. It is just heavy enough to keep the shape but light enough that it is constructed as if it was made from fabric. The shape is a classic pencil and the vertical seaming helps to create a lean silhouette. The leather is coated with a soft brushed metallic silver that has just enough shine to add a touch of metallic to your wardrobe but not in a flashy or tacky way. It is exceptional and looks to have never been worn or worn very little. Excellent condition.

I Have a Question
The twin of this top in a green was shown as Look 10 for the Fall 2016 Rosie Assoulin show. This is its twin but has been done in a putty coloured ivory. The top is brand new and has never been worn. It still has its original Rosie Assoulin tags and tags from Lane Crawford attached.
These tops were a hit piece from the collection and with its convertible aspect, highlights the cleverness of Rosie's work. This ability to transform the top so easily makes it easy to style in multiple ways. You can wear it out for the evening with heels or keep it more low key for the day. It also showcases her love of creating new proportions and cuts. The neckline of the top is cut on an angle that leaves one shoulder bare whether you choose too wear the sleeve or not. One shoulder is covered and the other one has the sleeve hanging low on the arm. You can also choose to unbutton the low hanging sleeve and take it off completely to convert the top to a single sleeved piece. Each sleeve is cut with volume through its middle and is cut on a curve so that they follow the arm and create a wider pouf near their middle. The fit through the body is relaxed and it buttons up one side. There are attached ties that you can wrap around you to add shape where you want it to be. I love it. Brand new and never worn. Excellent condition
It is constructed from a soft canvas finish cotton twill. It buttons down the side and has attached ties. The one sleeve buttons into place. Tagged a modern brand size M but the cut is very generous so it should fit a variety of sizes.

I have a small group of hand made tops straight from the swinging sixties ad they are all incredible. Each is a one of a kind and completely unique. This is the type of thing that you will only ever find with vintage so if you love one - snag it fast because you will never see it again. This one combines a natural cotton yarn done with pink and gold thread. The sleeves are elaborately done with big lilies crocheted around the open fishnet pattern. On the front a large pink flower sits at the centre of the low dipping V. A band runs across the bust above that to hold it in place. Lots of different crochet patterns have been mixed together and it is so unique
Unlined and slips on to wear. A little stretch to the knit. It is handmade so you can see the threads tied off at the back. Some repairs to the strands in the sleeve and there is a darkening to the bottom of the front where the cups are set. Some darkening to the yarn here and there. The areas that cover the breasts are backed in a nude stretch lingerie nylon. These were all worn and loved so have a touch of normal patina to them but all are in great condition

giorgio sant angelo
1970s Giorgio Sant Angelo Hand Painted Stretch Blue Net Bodysuit w Gold & Silver Accents
I Have a Question
Sant' Angelo was the winner of two Coty Awards and two Council of Fashion Designers of America honors and was known for his innovation and pioneering use of stretch fabrics. He has had an entire museum exhibit dedicated to his work and career and is firmly entrenched as one of the great designers. His work captured a moment in fashion history and his love of color and strong lines will forever be collectible. Pieces reside in museums worldwide.
This is an amazing and rare body suit that has been hand painted on a pale blue netting. The interior of the suit is a stretch nude coloured jersey so that when you put it on it stretches and conforms to your body in the most comfortable of ways. The sleeves are long and slim and the front is scooped. It does up by snapping into place at the lower gusset. The pattern that you see has two componensts to it. There is the washed water-colour effect that runs on curving swoops over the surface of the body suit. These are done in pastel green, pink and blue. It is extraordinarily well done and it feels like you are looking at a painting that has been applied directly to the fabric. Then to highlight the design are little hand painted dots of gold and silver paint. You can actually feel these on top of the fabric. It is very beautiful and can be worn with many different pieces. Excellent condition.

I have a small group of hand made tops straight from the swinging sixties and they are incredible. Each is a one of a kind piece and completely unique. This is the type of thing that you will only ever find with vintage so if you love one - snag it fast because you will never see it again. This one combines a natural cotton yarn done in a floral pattern on wide set short sleeves with a denser knit body. The main part of the top is made up of a combination of a creamy off white with tones of blue and bits of a gold thread. It is scooped super low at the front and the back and then it is cropped. A braided tie runs through the bottom so that you can cinch in. It's fabulous
Unlined and slips on to wear. A little stretch to the knit. It is hand made so you can see the threads tied off at the back. These were all worn and loved so all have a touch of normal patina to them but all are in great condition
Bust: 13-15" flat across from side seam to side seam
Seam at bottom: 14-15" flat across from side seam to side seam and can be cinched in
Length: 13" from shoulder to bottom edge
Modern Sizing Equivalent: XXS-XS

adolfo
Extraordinary 1970s Adolfo Ivory Felt Wrap Skirt w Gold Filigree Studs & 3D Flower Detailing
I Have a Question
This is a beautiful and intricate skirt by Adolfo. Adolfo started his career under Balenciaga and like Halston, was a successful milliner before opening his own fashion house. He became know for his Chanel inspired suiting and beaded pieces. Adolfo often did custom work for his clients who ranged from the Duchess of Windsor, to Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Gloria Vanderbilt and Nancy Reagan. He even won a Coty Award in 1969. I love his work and am very pleased to have this exceptional skirt in the shop today. It is wonderful example of just how complex his work could get. The skirt is made out of a beautiful ivory coloured felt that is thick enough to hold the shape that you see. This fabric choice also gives it the structure to hold the extensive appliqué work that has been added to it. At the waist there is a wide angled band of black felt that contrasts with the ivory. This angles down to one side when the skirt is on and it has been covered with a combination of big round gold coloured medallions with filigree finishes mixed with large gold studs. He then added a scattering of little black beads over the entire ivory part of the skirt and mixed in cut out flowers. The flowers have been hand cut out of the black felt. Each flower has a round felt centre in the ivory and then a gold stud is applied at its centre to hold it into place. A tightly spaced row of the flowers circle the hem and run op the edge of the skirt that wraps over at the front. All of the appliqué work is done by hand and it is extraordinary. It looks to have never been worn or worn very little. Excellent condition.
Unlined and wraps to close with hooks along the waist. You could easily move the hooks to go up or down in size a bit if needed.

These are a super cute pair of vintage sunglasses that are not from any particular brand but have lots of style and impact. They are made out of a deep red plastic frame shaped into two large hearts. The lenses have a mirrored finish that graduates to a bit clearer lens as it works its way towards the lower points of the hearts. I see one teeny scuff on one lens otherwise they are perfect.
Will ship in a case that is not original to them

I Have a Question
This is a gorgeous top that was made in Mexico and the textile it is made from probably dates to the sixties or seventies. The cut is loose and easy with a wide cut neckline and a simple T shape through the body. The fit through the body is very wide and open. There are two attached ties made from the same embroidered fabric that you can tie to give the top more shape. I have tied it at the back so you really get a sense of the work on the front of the piece, but you could just as easily tie it at the front. The entire top has been hand embroidered. The main pattern is a stunning array of colours in an intricate design. Then over that is a secondary design that combines beautiful bright flowers and birds with just a subtle pop of silver thread worked in here and there. The bird and floral pattern curves around the neckline and runs over each shoulder. There is a wide band of the design that runs across both the front and back of the upper chest. More of the design is set at the bottom centre of the hem on both sides. It is extraordinary and one of those little magical things that you only find in vintage. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on the wear. There is a hook at the top of the notched neck that has been added. The loose cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes and the smaller you are the more it will feel like an oversize cut piece when on.
Sleeves are 14" around in total

I Have a Question
This is a super cute red plaid check Vivienne Westwood top. It no longer has its label inside but it does have her custom engraved buttons that clearly identifies it as her work. I love the lines on this one. It has her signature nod to the past but it still feels cutting edge and completely modern. The front does up with the buttons and they are offset and follow the way that she has wrapped the shirt around the body. The collar is pointed and neat. You can wear the top more open or do it right up to under the collar. The sleeves are cut with a long slim feel and the body is shaped and slightly fitted through the waist. Excellent condition.
Unlined and buttons to close. No inner tags but all of the buttons are engraved with her logo

I Have a Question
This was purchased in Laos and my client was told that it was from the late 1800s, early 1900s. It is an incredible antique textile and the workmanship on it is fantastic. I have taken numerous photos and included many of the blue underside as I think that it is as beautiful as the embroidered top layer. At some pinto someone has added snaps to keep it closed. It also looks like it was folded and stitched at some point in its history to give it that interesting shape. Both these tweaks allow it to follow a more modern neckline better. This could all be undone if you wished. The colours are incredible. They are a bright combination of corals, pinks and blues. You can see all of the hand work that has been done on the back side of the piece. It is sold as found and truly a thing of beauty. This is one of those little treasures you only find in vintage. Excellent condition with some grubbiness to the fabric and small marls on the back. It was not cleaned because of its age bit it sound and strong.
5.5" wide and with a 15" neck opening as it is where the snaps are placed now. You could easily change them to accommodate any size

I Have a Question
Rene Lewis is a NYC diamond jewelry designer who uses antique materials worked into modern pieces. In the late 1980s and early 1990s she did a limited clothing line that reworked vintage pieces into contemporary shapes and silhouettes. This is one of those pieces and the fabric would have originated from the 1940s. She tweaked the shape perhaps or maybe this was originally a damaged dress that she converted into a top. It is made out of a black crepe that has a wonderful metallic thread embroidered detail at the neckline. The cut of the top is simple and sleek, with a straight cut through the body with just a hint of shape at the waist. At the neck, the embroidery work is exceptional. Gold metal thread is curved and stitched into place for the intricate design that you see. A black and gold band also loops around each arm. Antique buttons run down the back to close the top. You can easily see that it is completely done by hand on the opposite side of the fabric. Excellent vintage condition with a note below
Unlined and slips on. It buttons down the back. The embroidery work is hand done. Normal wear and patina to some of the gold from aging. All of the buttons at the back have some small chips out of them. I have photoed the one with the most of them

I Have a Question
This is a stunning 1940s black crepe top that is a little unusual because it has long sleeves. The vast majority of tops you find from this time period are short sleeves because they were meant to be worn under a jacket. This one is made out of a black silk crepe and has a wonderful metallic and non-metallic thread embroidered detailing that is quite extensive. The cut of the top is simple and sleek, with a straight cut through the body with just a hint of shape at the waist. The sleeves are long and end in a snapped cuff. The embroidery work is exceptional and you can clearly see the hand work on the back of the fabric. The pattern is done with a combination of a muted gold metal thread mixed with non metallic natural coloured thread and then little pops of green and red. The design is done in a bib feeling design down the front. It then runs over each shoulder and down each sleeve. At the back the embroidery works its way around the keyhole. The embroidery work is quite dense in coverage and it pops off of the black. It is wonderful. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on. There is a button at the back of the neck above a keyhole opening. The embroidery work is all hand done. Each cuff snaps to close

I Have a Question
This is a wonderful 1940s top that has a subtle little play in its design. It is made out of a deep blue silk that is the weight of a heavier silk scarf. The cut is loose and easy with no true shoulder seams. It simple drapes over you and then is brought in a bit at the waist for shaping. Onto the front are a stacked row of white insets. There are two of these on either side of the bodice. These angle down across the top of the bust and extend all the way out to the ends of the sleeves. I added one photo with one side held out so that you can see how it goes across the entire top. These are stitched into place all around their edges but they are stitched so that there is a 1/4" gap between the white and the blue silk. So when it is one you see that little line of bare skin all around. Very sexy in the most subtle kind of way. Excellent condition
Unlined and slip on to wear and then buttons down the back. The buttons are hand covered in the same silk as the top. I see the tiniest little nick on the fabric as the front that is stable.
