• The dress is from the fall 1969 Oscar de la Renta collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• This is just a fantastic and rare find. Peggy Palmer was photographed by Francesco Scavullo for the December issue of Cosmopolitan that same year wearing the twin the dress. It is incredible to have that reference photo.
• I love that this is such a fantastic and early example of his work. In 1965, at the very beginning of his career, Oscar entered into a partnership with the fashion house of Jane Derby. Jane died shortly after that partnership was formed and in 1966 the first labels that bore only the Oscar de la Renta name appeared.
• The dress is made out of a inky black cotton velvet that has been hand embroidered with gold metallic dots.
• During this time period Oscar was using extremely lavish and decadent finishes and you can see that in the edging that circles the neck line cuffs and around the hip. The bands that you see there are made from actual gold toned metal mixed with gold, braiding, sequins and prong set rhinestones. This is an incredibly decadent choice and shows the attention and quality that you will only find in vintage.
• The neckline of the dress is scooped and has been finished with the metallic edging described above. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are kept simple, narrowing down slightly into zipper cuffs that are edged in the same metal detailing.
• The bodice skims down to the waist. There is a dropped seam just below the waist that is curved downwards and cut generously. The dress comes with its original matching velvet and gold belt that hooks into place to add more shape. 
• It curves back out under that over the hips. The very top of the hips have another band of that same metal and rhinestone detailing that wraps all the way around. This is a very clever way to create the specific shape that the skirt has by adding a touch of added structure.
• Pockets sit along the seam just under that banding and when you put your hands in the pockets it helps to add and emphasize the intended shape. If you really wanted to emphasize and exaggerate that shape even more you could add some structure under the dress around the hip area so that it really sits full and wide. From there the skirt widens out beautifully as it falls to the floor.
• Over the entire dress are large dots that are made from a gold metal thread embroidered onto the velvet backdrop to create the shape of the dots. These are a fantastic and whimsical addition to the dress.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a back zipper. Each cuff has a hidden set zipper. The belt hooks to close with multiple holes to choose from. Pockets on each hip. I see some dots that have a bit of patina to them with the occasional missing gold thread in America. It's very minor and mentioned for accuracy. There is the occasional small gold medal piece missing on the braiding. I also want to note that the skirt is turned up under the metal braiding around the hem by just under three inches. There is also 1.25" turned under the cuffs of each sleeve. If you needed extra length on either spot it would be possible to let them down as there does not seem to be any wear (or very minor wear) along the edges. The belt is 36.5 inches from and to end with four options to hook it closed. It appears that it was re-glued at some point and you can see some evidence of that on the back. This is minor and doesn't show but mention for accuracy.
• There is no size tag present. Please go by the measurements listed below.

• The twin of this dress in a gold walked the runway for the Spring 2008 Oscar de la Renta collection as Look 64. 
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• On the runway a version of this was shown in a gold and then for the shops they produced this red version with a chunkier embellishment around the collar area and down the front.
• The dress is made out of a linen like finished red silk and then the collar has had an extensive pattern of various beads, rhinestones and sequins added by hand. Some pieces are backed by leather and there is embroidery in the mix.
• The collar is spectacular. It is just under three inches wide and to create a bold band curving around your neck. At the front it runs down and over the silk to just about the waist giving the illusion of wearing a jewelled bib collar. At the back it splits into two straps that expand outward on an angle to meet the silk.
  
• I love how this leaves most of the upper back bare and exposed.
• The beads on the collar have a very organic feel and they mix what looks like wood and perhaps ceramic beads applied onto leather backings in some spots. Big chunky rhinestones and clear beads have been added, and there are bits of embroidery. It is really fantastic and you can clearly see hand work throughout.
• Under that the dress is cut on a slight curve at the neckline and then comes in at the waist. The shaping through the waist is all done by long vertical seams at the sides with no horizontal line to break the eye or the beaded pattern at the front.
• From there it curves back out over the hips with a slightly exaggerated shape and then it expands out again as it nears the hem.
• Extra fabric has been added at the back and around the sides of the lower skirt to give you extra fullness there and a bit of movement as you move. You can get an idea of how it moves with the reference video added.
• I love how dramatic the red version is. It is a fantastic example of his work during this time period.
• The dress is fully lined in a matching red silk and closes with a hidden set back zipper that is hidden along and offset side seam. The collar hooks to close at the top of the shoulder on one side.. The embellishments have been added by hand. I see some slight scuffing into the top layer of the fabric around the back hem. Please see the photos attached. It is minor but it is mentioned for accuracy.

• The twin of this dress was the final look on the runway for the Pre-Fall 2015 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• Vogue noted in their review "Pre-Fall 2015 was the last collection he (Oscar de la Renta) had a hand in designing. The house's new creative director, Peter Copping, advised the studio a bit on how to finish it after de la Renta's death in October but this wasn't his debut. Copping sat in the front row taking it all in as a bystander." They continue the review saying, "How does one review a collection like this—one that operates not as a swan song, not as an homage, but as a coda to a great career, now definitively over? On its merits, of course. And though these clothes didn't serve to turn the fashion dial in any way, they manifested the soigné de la Renta signature in spades....It spoke loudest in the collection's clutch of cocktail frocks and gowns, particularly the champagne-toned finale gowns with allover gold or silver embellishment."
• This would make an amazing wedding dress for the bride looking for a non-traditional choice or as an alternative dress in a more extended wedding celebration.
• The dress is made from a fine ivory net that is covered in beautiful curving gold metallic thread appliques that form flowers and pretty patterns over the entire surface of the dress.
• Each individual applique is made from a pale, muted silver-gold lame fabric sewn that is embroidered all the way around its edges. The lame has a slight vertical ribbing that combines the gold and silver thread and this adds a beautiful texture. I love how they catch the light in a subtle way from every angle. In person the dress has a more metallic and gold feel then how it photographed here.
• It sits wide across the front and the straps are set to the edge of the shoulder. The bodice curves up and over your shoulders and then at the back it falls in a V for a bit of bare skin to show. All of the edges follow the curving pattern of the applique and I love this little romantic touch.
• There is an inner lining inside the bodice that has a sweetheart neckline shape to it and then the netting has a touch of transparency above that. It skims over you from there, past the waist to the seam that sits at the top of the hip.
• From there the skirt explodes outwards in two tiers. Underneath each tier is a layer of tulle and then another layer of netting under that. The second layer has a stiffened edge to help hold the shape of the skirting. Inside the skirt there is a built-in underskirt that has multiple rows of that same stiffened fabric so it holds the volume that you see in the photos. I have added no extra crinolines underneath the dress to take these photos. All of the volume that you see is all built into the dress already.
• The dress is cut shorter at the front and then the back is cut so that it trails out behind you past the floor. The lightness of the tulle and netting allows the dress to billow out around you when you walk.
• This is dress that feels like a fairy tale come true once it is on the body.
• The skirt is fully lined in layers of tulle and netting as described above. The bodice has an inner layer of silk and netting. The dress closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little.

• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta
• In the review of the show Vogue said in part; "It’s virtually impossible not to get swept up in Oscar de la Renta’s confident vision of the luxurious life. The designer played to all of his strengths for spring, showing more of the pretty dresses, chic suits, and slim coats that have made him a touchstone of relaxed, modern elegance....Judging from the cuts and colors of this collection, de la Renta has Palm Beach on his mind." and for the evening pieces it was noted that; "Turning up the volume for evening, de la Renta progressed from a long, cool pour of pink charmeuse, to a giddy yellow satin strapless dress covered in nosegays of silk flowers, to embroidered and embellished showstoppers guaranteed to make it a memorable night—red carpet or not."
• This dress is absolutely dreamy. It is made out of the perfect pale pink silk that has been finished with a combination of black embroidery and black bead work that covers the entire dress. 
• The dress is strapless and the neckline has a soft rounded shape to it. The silk is shaped over the bust to give shape and curves. Inside it there is a full built-in corset that is cupped and shaped for support structure. 
• All of the panels that make up the dress are set vertically and he has use these to create the shape that you see. As it skims over the bust the panel panels narrow to create the shape through the waist. I love that there is no horizontal line to break the eye or the pattern that covers the dress.
• The skirt is spectacular. Here you see the true genius of Oscar. The panels that start at the top of the bus and narrowed into create the shape of the waist now expand into incredibly wide panels all the way around you. Each is over 30" wide by the time it reaches the hem and there are eight of them in total. This gives the skirt incredible volume that shows best when you move.
• Built in underneath that outer skirt is a second layer of the same silk. That layer has a stiffened edging all the way around it's ham and also is finished with a black chiffon ruffle that peaks out from underneath the top skirt as you move.
• The volume and lightness of the silk allows the skirt to move around you beautifully when you walk or move. When this is on and you are walking the effect that this creates is absolutely gorgeous. You can easily see that in the runway reference video.
• The final perfect detail is the extensive black embroidery and beadwork that covers the dress and highlights its shape and curves. I love how it is done in a deliberate pattern that follows the curves of the bodice and narrows in at the waist, giving the illusion of an even tinier waist.
• Dangling jetted beads circle all around the top edge of the dress and beads are worked through the embroidered pattern on the bodice. More embroidery is applied to each panel so that it circles around the entire skirt. When you move you glimpses of just how beautiful the embroidery is. 
• This little extra and pretty detail adds that perfect finishing element of romance and femininity. This is Oscar at his very best and it is a tremendously beautiful dress.
• Fully lined in a pink silk with a full built-in cupped corset inside the bodice. The corset closes with its own zipper and then the dress closes over that with a back set zipper. An inner waist stay hooks to close. The dress appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• Vogue said of the collection that "After more than 40 years in business, de la Renta has earned the privilege to send multiple messages down the catwalk and he definitely has a diverse fan base, but for the most part, the 59 looks he showed today played best to the polished uptown types who love him best"
• I love that we have runway reference photos and video to show you how fantastically the jumpsuit moves.
• On the runway, it was paired with a fur trimmed shrug and an extra wide ribbon was wrapped around the waist. I think it is one of those pieces that gives you the opportunity to style it multiple ways.
• The jumpsuit is made from a black silk chiffon that has a metallic blue design that has been heavily applied to the silk. Onto that are beads and sequins.
• The additional embellishments to create the pattern over the silk are gorgeous and it is even better in person then how it photoed.
• At first glance you appear to be wearing a dress but it is actually jumpsuit legs. They are just very full and wide. So when you stand still you look like you are wearing a strapless dress but when you move, you have the ease of pants.
• The bodice is strapless and meant to be more fitted to the body. Inside there is a full built-in corset that is cupped and boned for support and to hold the jumpsuit in place around you.
• The waist nips in and is defined by a seam and then the jumpsuit curves out and over the hips. The pant legs widen out as they near their hem and each is a full 50" around the bottom hem.
  
• I love the high glam of the fabric and strapless bodice mixed with ease of the wide legs. 
• The jumpsuit is fully lined in a black chiffon. The inner corset closes with its own zipper and then a hidden set zipper is set over that. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This dress dates to the 1970s maybe early 1980s and is from the Miss O label which was launched in the mid-1970s to attract a younger client to the ODLR brand. 
• This dress is absolutely dreamy. It is made out if a very light in weight silk that has the weight and feel of a silk scarf. 
• Tiny silk straps curve over each shoulder and it is cut to hug the bodice.
• The silk has been draped softly over the inner lining in soft horizontal gathers that wrap all the way around you.
• That stunning red and black floral print that covers the entire dress combined with the soft gathers creates the most gorgeous effect.
• The dress is meant to hug the body and highlight your curves to the waist to create an hourglass feel. Extra long attached ties are set on each side and you can wrap them around to cinch in the waist to add even more shape.
• The skirt falls from under that and it is spectacular. Here you see the genius of Oscar. It curves out from under the waist and expands out in a rounded line. At about the knee, it begins to curve back inwards to the hem.
• This gives you this pretty curve from every angle and the lightness of the silk allows it to move around you fantastically.
• The final perfect detail is how it curves up at the centre front. This allows you to walk and also allows for a flash of bare skin when you walk and move.
• The dress is lined in a black silk through the bodice and the skirt is unlined. It is soft through the inner bodice. It closes with a side set zipper and snaps on the fabric below the waist. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This Thea Porter is from the Spring 1972 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Thea Porter.
• This is the actual dress that was in the Thea Porter exhibit in 2015 and was lent to them from my personal archives. It even still has the little paper tag that the museum added for their records.
• The twin of this dress was selected for the ad campaign that ran in Cosmopolitan that April. 
• The dress is made out of a pretty deep aubergine coloured light weight cotton voile that has a floral print over its entire surface. This is mixed with panels of a solid red in the same fabric. 
• The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are incredibly wide by the time they reach their ends. Each sleeve is almost 48" around by their bottoms! I love the incredible movement these add when you move.
• The front falls into a V that dips down to meet the wide six inch red band that wraps under the bust and down to the waist.
• The band ads shape and offers stunning contrast to the print. I love how that same red is picked up in a wide band that runs around each sleeve and then a another one that goes all the way around the hem of the skirt.
• The skirt falls from under that and is incredibly full. It is really cut to pick up and mirror the fullness and shape of the sleeves. The skirt has an inner lining of red so when you move or twirl you get another flash of red there as well.
• It is a stunning piece of her work and of course it has the added special province of being a documented museum exhibited piece.
• The dress is lined in a red cotton voile through the body and skirt and the sleeves are unlined. It closes at the back with a zipper. I see two small dark spots on one sleeve. Please see the photo after the label shot.

• This exceptional dress is by Marc Bohan for Christian Dior and it is a wonderful example of his work during this time period.
• The floral print and style best matches the work that he was doing in and around Spring 1974.
• The dress is made from a silk organza that has a slight texture and has been done in the prettiest pink. Screened onto the silk is a soft pastel floral print that covers the entire dress.
• The neckline is set high and detailed with a wide six inch ruffled collar that follows the hide set neckline. It softly falls over the edges of the shoulders at the sides.
• That ruffle collar extends all the way around you and down the back to follow the deep and unexpected V there. I love this almost shocking expanse of bare skin in contrast to the more covered front. That combination of the extremely pretty pink and then that open cut out at the back feels very sexy when you turn around.
• The shoulders are soft under the ruffle and the sleeves extend down and narrow slightly in at the cuff where they button to close. The sleeves have no lining so you get a play on transparency through them that is very pretty.
• At the front the bodice skims over you to the waist. The waist is detailed with a band of the same pink silk chiffon. My dress form is fairly short through the upper body so the top blouses out a bit over top of that band. If you are longer through the body it would fall slightly less bloused to the waist.
• The skirt billows out from under that to the floor. It widens out beautifully as it nears the hem and extra fabric has been set along the centre of the back to give it added fullness, creating the perfect balance to the ruffles that surround the V above. It is absolutely stunning.
  
• The band around the waist adds shape but you could define the waist even more by adding a belt or sash to cinch it in as much as you want.
• Once on the body the entire dress has this stunning movement and yet feels minimalist and elegant. It walks this beautiful line between the femininity and prettiness of the fabric mixed with that added touch of sensuality with the bareness of the back.
• The dress is fully lined in silk organza and closes with a side set zipper. The band around the waist hooks to close over that. Each sleeve closes with a silk covered button and loop. The pink is a touch softer hue in person than how it photoed. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This gorgeous Thea Porter dress dates to the early-mid 1970s.
• It was made under the creative direction of Thea Porter.
• It feels very much like a variation on her iconic Faye dress in its lines.
• The Faye dress was named after Faye Dunaway and Thea made these in various fabrications starting in 1968. These were one of her most iconic designs. Given her extremely limited run on certain pieces it could be one of only a couple that exist. It is truly a very special piece.
• The dress combines a hand dyed silk chiffon with metallic gold infused chiffon and sequin medallions that have been handed applied.
• The neckline comes down at the front and there is a modesty panel that has been added that matches the fabric of the sleeves. If you wanted a more bare look all the way to the waist you could easily have this removed and it would dramatically change the feel of the dress.
• Each shoulder has a light padding tacked inside that holds the shape across the top. If you wanted a softer feel you could easily remove them.
• Each sleeve is gathered into the top of the shoulder and then they are cut to be extremely wide and full, flaring out to their ends. The silk of the sleeves match the modesty panel at the front. Both areas are made out of a deeper red chiffon that has a pattern running through it and then over that pattern are bands of gold metallic stripes worked through the chiffon.
• The waist is seamed for some added shape and if you wish to cinch it in even more you could add a belt.
• Under that the dress flares out over the hips and becomes beautifully wide by the time it reaches the hem. All of the silk of the skirt is cut on the bias. The top pink silk layer sits over an inner red chiffon layer that is also cut on the bias. The layering of the two colours is very pretty and creates a beautiful effect and depth of colour.
• The pattern on the top layer of the silk is fantastic. It has a tie dye feel to it that I absolutely love.
• The perfect final detail are the three medallions that are hand-sewn in a row down one side of the bodice. Each one is hand cut and embroidered around their edges. Inside the have hand finished patterns done with embroidery, small tube beads and sequins.
• This is an exceptional and rare example of her work. 
• The body of the dress is fully lined in a pink chiffon through the bodice and red chiffon through the skirt. The sleeves are unlined. It closes with a back zipper. Light padding tacked into each shoulder. I see minor fading near the hem, a faint mark and a small tear also near the hem. These are a minor and mentioned for accuracy. There is so much fabric in the skirt you would never notice them once on. Please see the photos after the label shot.

• This dress dates to the 1970s.
• It was made under the creative direction of Marc Bohan.
• The dress is a wonderful example of the work being done during this part of Dior's history. It illustrates the outstanding level of craft and skill that was put into pieces from this era.
• I love how the dress has a touch of Old Hollywood in its cut. The closer you get to it the more you see the incredible and elaborate amount of detail that has been put into the fabric.
• The dress is made from a black silk net with a floral pattern worked throughout. The flowers are edged in black silk cord and then it has been hand beaded with an elaborate pattern of bead work that follows the design.
• Under the top beaded layer of net is a black silk chiffon layer and then there is a final nude silk chiffon inner layer backed in a black silk. Adding that nude innermost layer gives the wearer the illusion of wearing nothing underneath.
• The dress is suspended from two beaded straps that curve over each shoulder. The front neckline dips into a slight V and the back is a simple scoop.
• It is cut to skim over the body from bust to hips with no seaming at the waist to break the eye or the design created by the bead work. All of the seams are set vertically on the inner layers and then the top layer has been specifically cut and shaped to follow the curves.
• It curves out over the hips and then falls to the floor widening out a touch as it nears the hem.
• The elaborate design that covers the entire dress is done with a combination of glossy black beads in various sized mixed with black sequins. The design is heavier around the top the bodice, lightens in coverage as it goes over the hips, and then becomes dense and heavy again at the hem.
• The sequins have been applied so that they are stacked and layered over each other to give a slight 3D feel. Small faceted beads follow other parts of the pattern and the same beads are place by hand over the straps. Tiny little seed beads are in the mix along with square pailettes and oval faceted beads on a much larger scale.
• The beads are all applied by hand and catch the light from every angle as you move. It is incredible to see this dress in person and the level of detail that it has.
• The label on the dress is numbered and when you see that in a Dior Boutique label during this period it most often meant that the piece was a special order or was a custom made order for a client in the atelier but fitted at the boutique rather then the Paris atelier.
• The dress is fully lined as described above. It closes with a hidden set side zipper and the tag is numbered. The slight bias cut will allow for a bit of movement in the measurements and I have put to the maximum below.
• There is no size tag present. Please go by the measurements list below.
