• This is an exceptionally beautiful Jean Patou dress. 
  
• Jean Patou once said "Certain dressmakers desire to pass for an artist. I have one ambition: that is to have good taste." This dress is the very epitome of that statement.
  
• It is one of the most beautiful dresses that I have had come through my hands.
• The dress combines a crepe chiffon for the ruffles and sash with a beautifully printed bias cut silk organza through the body.
• It is suspended from tiny straps made out of the printed silk organza and these curve up and over each shoulder. The neckline is cut fairly straight across at the front and has a slight scoop at the back.
• All the way around the edge of the neckline are three stacked layers of softly pleated ruffles. There are two that are in a deep fuchsia pink that has a slight red undertone and then a blue layer sits in between those. The movement these create once on is fantastic.
• Around the hem is a double layer of ruffles with the pink on top and a blue underneath. The ruffles at the hem are wider and tie everything beautifully together.
• Under the ruffles the bodice skims over to a seamed waist. The pattern on the bodice has a blue base with yellow and pink flowers.
• At the waist the pattern between there and where the ruffle start on the hem changes to a more intricate print that brings in yellows, soft pink and greens. It is spectacular. 
• The skirt widens out quite substantially as it reaches the hem. They add just enough weight so that it moves beautifully around you as you move as well as adding to the beauty of the dress.
• The dress comes with it's original matching wide sash that hooks in place around the waist. It is the same colour as the pink parts of the ruffles. I love how this cinches in the shape. It is the perfect finishing touch. You could also wear a thinner belt if you wished or even wear no belt, but it does look spectacular once altogether.
• The dress is fully lined in a blue silk and has a ton of hand finishes inside. I have photoed an inner seam for you to see. It closes with a back zipper. The lining has a hidden panels of stiffening throughout the lower portion of the skirt so that the shape is held better. I see some slight fading around the very inside edge of the top but it is nothing that shows outside. Some minor fraying to the top of the straps. Please see the photos after the label shot. The sash hooks to close.

• This is an exceptionally beautiful Jean Patou silk chiffon dress that is an absolute masterpiece. It is an important and early representation of both the house of Patou and the level of Haute Couture being produced during this time period.

• The dress is made entirely by hand and represents countless hours of dedicated hand work within the atelier.
• It is one of the most beautiful dresses that I have had come through my hands and the photos cannot begin to convey the detail and fine work that has gone into the creation of this piece.
• It is constructed from a fine black silk chiffon and the bust is fitted with a boned and shaped interior to hold the dress around you. The upper edge of the bust has a little silk chiffon ruffle that folds over for a pretty detail.
• It cinches in at the waist and the skirt flows down on a gentle curve. The waist seam curves upwards at the centre front and then curves downward towards the hip. The back seam continues curving downwards to to create a dip at the back.
• Under this the skirt falls in a cascade of silk chiffon tiered panels. There are three in total and each one overlaps the one underneath. Hidden in between the ruffles are panels of silk organza which helps to give the dress its volume. An extra panel sits under the very lowest tier. Inside the skirt is a layer of stiffened netting.
• The skirt follows the same curve the waist seam has with the front coming up a touch and the back sweeping out behind you.
• We have not added anything under the skirts. There is room to go fuller if you wanted to add a crinoline underneath you can go as full as you wish.
• A spray of pink silk flowers and black velvet leaves run down one side of the skirt.
• This is really an extraordinary piece of early golden era Haute Couture.
• The bodice has a hand set silk lining and is boned. It closes with hand set back metal zipper. The skirt is lined as described above. I see some minor grubbiness around the hem of the interior lining. The tulle lining under the skirt is raw cut and there may be occasional little break near the hem here and there. There is light stress near the seams on the bodice around the waist area that indicate there was a belt or ribbon attached at some point. You could easily add a belt or ribbon and you would never see these. The flowers do not feel fresh. They are just tacked in place and they could be removed or replaced.

• This appears to be the actual Haute Couture sample coat that walked the runway for the Fall 1985 Jean Patou collection for Look 12
• Made under the creative direction of Christian Lacroix 
  
• This is an extremely rare and important piece of fashion history. Very few pieces of his work at Patou come up for sale and this is more then likely the only piece to exist.
• Made in the Paris atelier
• Made of a soft orange wool shaped in an enveloping cocoon shape highly reminiscent of a 1920s flapper coat.
• It is all cut on the bias so once it is on the body it wraps around you beautifully. It is extraordinary. 
  
• The sleeves are quite extremely wide and they have a long wide cuff that flips up and over the sleeve. The cuff is completely covered in hand dyed feathers.
• More of the same hand dyed feathers are used to create a huge shawl collar that drapes down and over the shoulders. It continues to run all the way to the hem and circles around to the back hem.
• The coat narrows in as it reaches its bottom. This is a classic cut for this style of cocoon coat
• It feels wonderfully decadent and opulent, both key design elements in Lacroix's work. It is literally like wearing a work of art.
• Partially lined in a silk through the upper body of the coat and through the sleeves. The rest is unlined.
• Has its hand written Haute Couture sample label in place and attached metal couture tag

It is very full and open and has no closures so should fit almost any size. It is approximately 52 inches from neck to hem but that will come up a bit once it is on the body.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1977 Dior show.
• It was made under the creative direction of Marc Bohan.
• I have had several other dresses from this collection and it is a personal favourite season in Dior's history.
• I am very happy to have photo references so you can see how fantastic this dress sits on the body and how it can also be worn belted for added shape.
• The dress is made out of a feather light silk chiffon and comes with its original matching ivory silk slip that can be worn underneath.
• I shot the dress with the shoulders up because the slip underneath has a little straps. On the runway it was shown off the shoulder and I love that you have the option of wearing it either way.
• It has a red and two different blue tone abstract stripe print that runs over the entire dress. You can see how he has manipulated the directions of the stripe to highlight the detailing and shape of the dress.
• Matching ties run through the neckline and this is what allows you to bring the neckline in or to wear it more loos and off of the shoulder. Two more ties close the front under that.
• The sleeves are fantastic. They are very wide where they come out from the body of the dress and then are gathered in at the wrist. They each have a little tie bow and elastic around the cuff with a ruffled finish.
• The body of the dress is very full and open and should fit just about any size.
• I love the inset at the front and how it has just the perfect amount of detail and contrast with the stripes going the other way.
• Around the hem is a wide band that also has the stripes placed the other way to the rest of the dress.
• At the back it falls with a more caped feel if you choose to wear it without a belt. If you do add a belt, you can bring the length up as much as you wish. The styling possibilities are endless.
• The outer dress is unlined and it comes with its matching inner slip. You could switch the switch out for another colour to get a different feel. The dress slips over the head to wear and then ties at the front as described above. The inner slip zips to close at the side. I see some minor pulls in the silk here and there. Please see the photo after the label shot. It is an extraordinary dress from this time period. The dress should fit pretty much any frame and you could always wear a different sized slip underneath if you need more room. Hand finishes throughout.

• The mainline version of this dress dates to 1973 and then this RTW version was released in 1974.
• It was made under the creative direction of Gnyuki Torimaru.
• Gnyuki Torimaru started out as an architect before becoming a textile engineer and then a designer. He worked for Louis Feraud, Pierre Cardin and Norman Norell before striking out on his own in 1972.
• Shortly after the launch of his couture label he teamed up with Rembrandt to produce a ready-to-wear line that had the feel of his couture pieces but was available at locations outside of his atelier. 
• His name became very well known around the globe after creating pieces for Princess Diana’s visit to Japan in 1986. 
• An entire exhibit was dedicated to him at the Kobe Fashion Museum "Gnyuki Torimaru: Legendary Fashion Designer" in 2019. The twin of the dress was also shot for several publications in both 1973 and 1974.
  
• This dress is amazing and it is an incredible statement piece.
• The fabric is a light-in-weight ivory jersey that has a soft slinky feel to it.
• The dress is very easy to wear despite its dramatic presence. It is cut very loose and easy through the entire body and the sleeves are phenomenal.
• The neckline is done in a phenomenal plunge that goes right down to the waist. The jersey is gathered into the waist from the sides to create the soft vertical draping that you see.
• The gathering at the front and the deep plunge are key features to the design of the dress. It is what creates that beautiful draped feel that runs all the way to the hem.
• The sleeves are created by extending out the jersey from the body of the dress. Each one starts incredibly wide as it comes out from below the waist area and then narrows down to a extra long cuff that closes with two buttons at their ends.
• The extreme volume above the long defined cuffs are what helps them to billow up above the wrist more.
• This design leaves the caftan completely opened on the sides from the bust area all the way down through the waist and hips.
• From there it swoops down to the hem to create the unbelievably dramatic draping down each side and it lets the fabric billow around you beautifully when you move.
• At the back it falls in one swoop of fabric to give an almost caped effect
• The movement and boldness of the design is amazing to see. Everything about this dress has a feel of organic movement and drama. It is a remarkable dress and even more stunning on.
• The dress is unlined and it closes at the front at the base of the plunge with a zipper. There is a jersey covered elastic piece that you can step into around the waist if you wish. It could also be worn without that if you need more room. The outer jersey layer is tremendously voluminous and its easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes. On a smaller frame it will just drape more.

• This is a gorgeous Couture dress from 1970s Lanvin.
• It was made under the creative direction of Jules-Francois Crahay
• Jules-Francois headed the Lanvin ateliers from 1964-1984. He has been noted as one of fashion’s'great colorists with his colorful patterns making his 1970s Lanvin designs hugely desirable and influential.' His time at the Lanvin label is one of my personal favourites.
  
• The dress is not perfect so please make sure to read the entire description and view all the photos.
• The fabric is made from a combination of an ivory silk chiffon with panels of silk brocade handmade ribbon that have been added in vertical lines down the front.
• The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are set into them slightly deeper than a normal sleeve so they have a bit of volume. 
• The sleeves are made of a single layer of the chiffon so that they have a touch of transparency. They remain wide all the way to the elastic set around the wrist. This lets them puff out above your hands in the most beautiful way.
• The bodice skims over the bust to a seamed but generously cut slightly dropped waist. You could add a belt if you wanted extra shape. When worn as it is photoed it simply skims over you to let the full impact of the ribbon take centre stage.
• From there the skirt curves over the hips and continues to expand outwards to the floor. There is an immense amount of fabric used in the skirt. It has been gathered in soft pleats all the way around and this is what helps to give it its fullness. When you move, it moves beautifully around you.
• The ribbons that run down the full front of the dress are beautiful. There are seven in total. Four of them are done in shades of blue and green and three in pale yellow. These are set vertically over the bodice, stop at the waist and then are picked up again just under the band of chiffon at the waist.
• On the skirt they are set on the top of the pleats so when you move you get a vertical band of silk chiffon between them. It is very pretty.
• The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk and the sleeves are unlined. It closes with a series of hidden hooks and snaps down the front. Elastic at each wrist. I see a small very faint mark on the outside of one sleeve and some minor grubbiness around the edges here and there. There is a more substantial yellow mark near the hem. I have taken a photo of it spread out so you can see the full extent of it. I have also taken a photo of it as it falls so you can see that the impact of it is lessened once most of it is hidden within the pleats. I have everything dry cleaned but it was not aggressively cleaned so it is possible that it could come out with a more aggressive specialized cleaning.
