Rare Edith Small dress that is a beauty from the late 1940s, early 1950s and a testament to her skills as a dressmaker. Edith Small was perhaps not as well known as some of her contemporaries of the day but she produced well made pieces and used high end fabrics. This is a very wonderful example that would make a fantastic cocktail dress or evening a less formal wedding gown. It is constructed of a off-white lace that is on a net base and backed by silk crepe. Onto the lace are hundreds of hand applied paste rhinestones so the dress has a bit of glitter and glitz! The skirt is very full and cut on the bias so it actually skims over the hips and then flares out to all that wonderful fullness! The bodice is pure bombshell vixen - it has a shaped, boned halter with a deep scoop and the strap goes up and around the neck. The back is left quite bare. It is gorgeous! Excellent condition
Bust: 17" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 11-12" flat across from side seam to side seam

The dress is fully lined in white silk crepe with a built in layer of tulle in the skirt. No additional crinolines where used in the photos. It closes with a side painted metal zipper that looks like a replacement but its well done and definitely still an older zipper. . Hand finishes. There are a couple f faint discolorations in the skirt here and there but due to the volume it very minor - priced accordingly. The bodice is lightly boned and all the edges are finished with an edging of netting.

I don't often list newer items but this came as part of a grouping and it is so adorable I cannot resist! It is a more current M Missoni dress and is in mint condition. It is so easy to wear too - you just slip it over your head and go! The skirt is a gorgeous screened print in a deep green silk with a pop of deep burgundy pink. The top is classic Missoni - it is a chunky knit with silver lurex thread running though it to highlight the design! Easy to wear and a gorgeous little dress! Excellent condition!

A very unusual dress in that it is constructed entirely of a pleated netting in a brilliant green color. Onto the netting is an embroidered design that really serves to highlight the dresses design. It sits off shoulder - though you could wear them up as well and has a wide, heavily embroidered collar. That same embroidery runs through the dress and gets heavier at the end of the fantastic wide sleeves and all around the bottom of the dramatic skirt. A full tulle underskirt is built in so you get lots of volume all around the bottom. It is completely lined in a nude jersey so is both comfortable to wear and makes it appear as if you are wearing netting and nothing else! A net belt cnches in the waist for maximum shape and definition to counter allthat volume! A fabulous piece and in excellent condition. Item# DD867
I love this bold, yet feminine Lilli Diamond Maxi dress! The cut, the design, that fabulous ruffled neck all work perfectly together. Constructed from a slightly starched cotton-linen mix custom screened fabric in a dramatic black and white floral design. The actual cut of this dress is actually quite simple - the sleeveless, halterneck bodice skims over the bust and then nips in at the waist. The full length skirt flares out in a full A-line. But turn around and the back has been scooped out entirely with a dramatic ruffled edged bareness. This same ruffle continues around the neck. The original tie belt cinches the waist. It's a stunner and in excellent condition! Item# DD868
Based on the runway presentation of the Spring 2009 "NATURAL Dis-Tinction, Un-Natural Selectionî Alexander McQueen show this dress is a stunner and showcases his masterful draping techniques. Constructed of two layers of bias cut silk they fit over each other perfectly and once on, move to fit the body just so. References to the animal kingdom abounded in this collection and on this piece we see a beautiful, soft screened bib feathers highlighting the softly draped cowl at the neck. The back hem is rounded and longer then the slightly scooped front. It is amazing and a testament to his genius. Excellent condition and a rare piece!

A few years back there was a sale of some micro pleated Pierre Cardin pieces done for Mia Farrow in 1967. This dress is from that same time period and shows many of the same elements. Those dresses, because of their celebrity association all went for about $20,000 a piece! I love this particular version - it really embodies the late 1960s with its pleated fabric with the ruffled finish to the edges and double skirted feel and swingy cut. The bodice is cut high with a demure slightly scooped neck. From this a dramatic tightly pleated expanse of fabric swings out - there are literally yards of fabric in there all finished with tiny knife pleats. The top layer is from the shoulder while the second layer that forms the bottom skirt is attached to the inner lining. A signature twisted ruffle finish made by adding horse hair wiring to each hem gives it that identifiable Cardin touch. The sleeves are with a soft billow at each cuff. A fitted under dress in silk gives the wearer the feeling of structure! This one has it original fabric tie that you can use at the neck, as a head scarf or as a belt! An amazing piece of couture and fashion history! Truly a find and in excellent condition. Item# DD871
A very rare and wonderful Dorothy O'Hara gown in a stunning combination of silk, silk chiffon and hand worked lace and ribbon detailing. The skirt flows to the floor in two fantastic layers of silk - a taffeta underneath and miles of silk chiffon in a soft cafe au lait color over that. The effect is of lightness and floating when the wearer moves! The top is spectacular the same silk chiffon is fully appliqued with a cut work lace whose edges are all followed by silk ribbon piping stitched by hand into place! A halter of silk chiffon goes around the neck for the perfect Goddess feel finish. A superb dress from a tough to find designer! Excellent condition. Item# DD872
Made of a stunning combination of deep blues and brilliant greens on silk this Suzy Perette dress is a beauty! The front is is simple with vertical seaming so the bodice is nicely fitted to the body. The waist nips in and a bow sits just above one hip. More vertical seaming sits at the very top of the full skirt and then gently open to give the volume the skirt has. This seaming and use of the bow cleverly draws the eye into the waist and gives the illusion of an even greater nipped in waist and hourglass silhouette. I love the little capped sleeves and scooped neck. The back is scooped slightly lower then the front and gives the feeling of a barer back then what it actually is! The skirt has the perfect amount of fullness that allows you wear it with or without a crinoline and not be too overwhelmed by volume. Amazing and in excellent condition. Item# DD873
This is a fantastic little dress and a bright and colorful one as well! This is everything I love about Beene! It is meticulously made and has used the finest silk that has been beautifully screened with a gorgeous and bright print. Yet it still has that easy to wear, American sportswear feel to it. The silk used is a silk twill - think Hermes scarf in weight and feel. This type of silk really holds color superbly and this glorious, huge floral print on this confirms that! It has an inner silk bodice over which a looser fitting, more draped exterior is placed. This has a simple scooped neck ad a slit cap sleeve. It bloused gently at the waist. The skirt is soft with a touch of large pleating for fullness and balance to the top. It is cinched in at the waist. A really lovely dress and in superb condition
Bust: 17î flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12î flat across from side seam to side seam

Bodice: approx 16" from shoulder to waist but it drapes when worn
Skirt: 23" from waist to hem
Note that the largest blue flowers pictured are actually two tones of purple in real life. The oranges are deeper as well. If you love it in the pictures - in person it is better!
The dress is fully lined through the bodice in a tissue silk and with a silk organza through the skirt. It† closes with a back painted metal zipper with a second interior painted metal zipper on the tissue silk layer inside the bodice. Hand finishes. Note that an extra inch could be gained through the waist and an inch or more through the bust by modifying the interior silk inner bodice

This is an absolutely amazing Bessi dress and one of the best that I have had or seen! The print is spectacular - you can easily see her days at Pucci strongly influencing the design. The colors are sublime - a deep golden yellow, light olive, pops of purples and pinks all mixed together masterfully. I love the strong use of a contrasting border that defines and anchors the cut of the dress and the silk is a fantastic silk twill - Hermes scarf like in weight and feel. The bottom has a full panel added that is edged with a band of color that matches that edging on the rest of the skirt and the waist. The simple sleeveless bodice perfectly balances the skirt. This is truly a fabulous gown and in excellent condition! Item# DD875
This is an amazing three piece set that is so fabulous I am a little enamoured with it! A vibrant abstract print is screened onto a light cotton with a touch of texture to it. It has that perfect airy summer feel to it and the bright color just makes it more so! The top is simple with straps for shoulders and a basic straight tank cut. I love the detail and extra work that went into putting a row of working buttons down one side seam. The skirt is pheasant style with a ruffle tier at the bottom and cut to get wider as it reaches the hem. There is a ton of fabric in there but it still feels light and summery! The original fabric tie belt is with it - it is a bright yellow cotton and ribbed with horizontal stitching. It is fabulous and so versatile! Excellent condition

There is nothing quite as sexy as a ruffled front halter that leaves the back bare. Add to that the sleekness of black and make it a designer piece and you have an instant knock-out! Everything on this one works perfectly together. Constructed from a textured black almost linen look base the contrasting silk organza ruffled neck with its flat piped edges are perfect together. The actual cut of this dress is actually quite simple - the sleeveless, deep V fronted halterneck bodice skims over the bust and then nips in at the waist. The full length skirt flares out into the perfect cut A-line. But turn around and the back has been scooped out entirely. Two layers of black silk organza form the ruffles around the neck and they go all the way up and around the wearers neck. It's a stunner and in excellent condition!

A stunning and wonderful design from the infamous Biba is the perfect British mix of saucy, sexy and girl next door. The fabric is classic black moss crepe. It is cut in classic sixties style with a short hem that slightly flares out! The sleeves are wickedly wild - they are long and have an elastic at each cuff that sits just above a full ruffle. They are meant to pouf slightly above the wrist and then that cuff is an extravagant finish. A V neck with a bit of a collar on each side and high shoulders are the perfect finish. It is am amazing original Biba piece that is extremely collectible and infinitely wearable. A real treasure of a find and in excellent condition! Item# DD879
Absolutely one of the best Yves Saint Laurent pieces ever! This is an exceptional silk wrap gypsy skirt with the earliest Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Paris label. The original Saint Laurent boutique opened in Paris in 1966 and I believe this to be from about 1970 based on the style and the label. It is a spectacular skirt made of a fluid red silk. The cut is amazing - it drapes longer in the back and has a wonderful ruffled edge that cascades down the front. Two patterns are woven into the silk so you get a nice contrast between the body of the skirt and the ruffle! And it has its original matching fabric tie sash too! Excellent, appears unworn condition. Item# S339
Super rare and super chic sixties flare bottom, flower power crop top set by Nina Ricci. What I love about this one is the amazing color combination that absolutely screams jet set hippie chic and those crazy flat fronted flared pants! The top sits just above the belly button and has that groovy 1960s vibe with an attached tie at the waist and matching buttons. A simple scooped neck and long sleeves balance the exposure of the stomach. The pants are flat fronted and nip into a tiny, low waist and then flare dramatically from there! Together they are a strong statement but you can also break then up and wear them seperatly! Amazing set, very rare and in excellent condition! Item# DD883
A wonderful diaphanous and ethereal silk chiffon dress by Bill Blass that is so fresh and modern in feel that it could be easily mistaken as a piece from the spring runways! Feather light layers of beautifully screened silk are layered atop each other. Four full layers make up the body of the dress and each sleeve has two layers and yet you could probably pull the dress through a small circle like a scarf! The florals have extra depth and texture since the pattern lies atop another layer underneath. Each layer is also slightly shorter then the other so you get a pretty ruffled effect at the hem. The sleeves are long and widen as they reach their cuffs. It is really a gorgeous dress and the effect that it has when on with all that stunning silk softly moving just cannot be conveyed in the photos! Excellent condition

This is a fantastic and romantic gown and capelet set by Alfred Bosand. Made from a a beautiful pale ice blue silk net that has been embroidered with little flowers throughout. It has a high turn of the century empire goddess that has hints of ancient Greece in its cut. The fabric is gathered in a formed high bodice with little straps. The skirt cascades from there to the floor with a panel of chocolate dyed netting to anchor it. An extra layer of tulle is under the top layer and the inner skirt is a sensual feeling silk. The skirt is not too full nor too slim. A matching capelet made of netting and embroidery picks up the gown's hem and is the perfect feminine finish. A really lovely and pretty set that is also well made! Excellent condition

This is the second time I have had this fantastic little dress in the shop and I suspect it will go as quickly as the first! He does not do a ton of color so when he does it is really special and this particular shade of blue is gorgeous. This amazing and very sexy little Alaia knit dress features a loose weave ribbed knit over a nude colored inner sheath. As with all Alaia pieces this dress is cut to hug every curve! The workmanship and the fabric is the best you can get and I love the saucy, flippy little skirt that finishes the dress with a girlie ruffle. It is a classic Alaia design, reissued in this color from an earlier design he made infamous in the nineties. The interior lining makes it appear that you are just wearing a thin layer of lace - insanely sexy and perfect for hot summer nights! Excellent condition. Item# DD889
A fabulous and easy to wear caftan feeling dress by Teal Traina for Traina-Mignon. Made of a pink floral print chiffon over a inner sheath dress in black. It has a wonderful loose, hostess feel to it and drapes and moves nicely. I love the ruffled cuffs - such a feminine touch! That same ruffled feel is picked up on the wide hem at the bottom of the skirt - this also adds a bit of interest to the otherwise simple cut. The neckline is also ruffled and a velvet ribbon looped through it - this allows you to widen it or wear it tighter - you could even wear it off shoulder! Add a belt and you have instant definition too. Excellent condition and appears to have been worn little if at all. Item# DD890
What a gorgeous little dress and it is a bit remarkable as it was never worn! It is as fresh and perfect as the day it was made! Made of a combination of silk and lace done in that perfect ballet slipper pink this is as feminine and gorgeous as a girl can ask for. The cut keeps it classy but sexy. The top portion is a pink lace that is fitted and sleek. I love how all the edges of the laces are left scalloped - the effect against the skin is amazing. It nips into a banded waist and then hugs the hips in a sleek pencil skirt. The back is equally amazing - the bodice scoops to a V and the back skirt is gathered in soft pleats along the dipped waist banding. The skirt extends slightly below the rest of the skirt giving the illusion of length and curves. Fit for a bombshell, it is absolutely gorgeous! Excellent, unworn condition. Item# DD891
This is a gorgeous piece from Victor Costa that I think may be one of my favorites I have ever had from him! The print is a pretty small floral that covers the chiffon top to bottom. The main body of the dress is a long slim sheath with a pretty black lace hem. The black on the bottom really serves to draw the eye down and anchor the print perfectly! The shoulders are very pretty and unusual - the seam actually sits above the bust and the fabric goes over the shoulders and the sleeves are rounded. A slit is left open at the back for a bit of exposed skin to the waist. Then from the waist a train of chiffon finished with the same panels of lace swoops the floor. It is just gorgeous! Excellent condition and appears to have been worn little if at all.

This dress is drop dead gorgeous in every single way. It is gorgeous! Look closely and you will see that the lace is actually all rows stacked on top of each other! Each of the lace rows is stitched separately into place and set to just slightly overlap the row above and below it!! Because of the way the dress is cut this would have been designed and then the lace applied to the fabric to accommodate the design. The bodice has wide straps with the same technique used and a square cut neckline. It follows the wearers curves and nips in at the waist. The skirt skims over the hips with a built in pleat at the back that allows the wearer to walk! The color is gorgeous too - a pale nude peach that is very flattering. Excellent condition, extremely well made and appears unworn

"Tim Jocelyn (1952-1986) was a brilliant, articulate, and innovative artist who rose to prominence in the tumultuous Queen Street art scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s. His fascination and facility with fabric led him first to the manufacture of unique and beautiful fashion accessories, but he branched out into other areas, making brilliant and provocative banners, furniture coverings, and screens. Jocelyn turned increasingly away from fashion to enter wholeheartedly the avant-garde art world.
Tim Jocelyn's partner and fellow artist, Andy Fabo, was a founding member of the influential ChromaZone group. It was as an associate of the group that Jocelyn became curator of the Chromaliving show in 1984. Toronto's NOW magazine rated Chromaliving as the single most important art show of the last 20 years: A landmark manifesto show, according to NOW, Chromaliving brought over 100 artists working in every medium into one recently closed high-end department store to celebrate the end of the death of painting. It was a fabulous, formative, anarchic event, featuring faux-fashion shows, seminal installations, and funny, subversive performances." - The introduction from the book The Art of Tim Jocelyn.
Tim Jocelyn was an important Toronto based textile artist who died from an AIDS-related illness at age 34 in 1986. According to the The Tim Jocelyn Art Foundation "he left behind a legacy of love and talent unequaled in the Toronto art scene....Tim Jocelyn's brief yet significant contribution to Toronto's Queen Street art scene began in 1981, when he and Andy Fabo organized The Fashion Show, Jaywalking the Intersection of Fashion & Art at the Theatre Centre."
He participated in many exhibitions at the Ontario Crafts Council, Harbourfront, at the ChromaZone venues, and even had a retrospective exhibition at the venerable Olga Korper Gallery in 1983. Visual/ Rhythms, an outdoor exhibition at the Toronto Sculpture Garden in 1984 that incorporated three huge banners by Jocelyn, furthered public familiarity with his work. He was also included in a show of Canadian design at 49th Parallel Gallery in New York in 1985. It was not until after his death, how ever, that the larger players museums and public galleries began to take notice of this important body of work. A posthumous retrospective of his work, Fictions + Realities, was mounted at the Power Plant in Toronto in 1990. Shows organized in conjunction with the Tim Jocelyn Art Foundation have followed at the Textile Museum of Canada, Toronto (1996), the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa (1997), the Macdonald Stewart Art Centre in Guelph (2000) and the Royal Ontario Museum (2002). There is also a book on his work entitled "The Art of Tim Jocelyn", written by Sybil Goldstein, 2002.
He often used a technique where he "tattooed" metallic fabric onto silk - you see that in this piece. The tubular shape of the dress is further highlighted by the column down the front and back. Simple chairs sit at its base and birds fly above it. Each sleeve has a more elaborate chair placed like a crest on each The skirt is a simple gathered cream chiffon.
His pieces are exceedingly rare to come across on the open market. It is unlabelled but is guaranteed to be his work. It is unmistakable. Value for it has been quoted as potentially triple the list price but my client prefers to have it go to a good home and she has set the price despite being advised that it could go higher. It is rare, wonderful and should be considered as a true art piece and not just clothing. Museum quality condition.

This dress by Sonia Rykiel really emphasizes everything that was fabulous about the eighties. The cut is innovative and unusual. The linen cotton fabric chosen adds texture and interest. The fabric has been hand dyed to an almost rust color and you can see the sport impact that worked it way into the design of clothes made during the eighties. I feel that the little front pocket that sits just above the waist really gives it that feel. The cut is loose and full with a scooped neck and full arms. It has an almost sweatshirt cut through the bodice. The skirt is very unusual with ties that runs through the hem and then come out to tie at each side of the skirt allowing you to leave it loose or pull it tight creating different shapes depending on how tight you go. A top second layer sits just on the front of the skirt and it also ties into place at the sides and can be adjusted through a tie through the hem. It then has very long fabric ties attached at the waist. One of the waist ties matches the main color of the dress while the other is a contrasting cream. I have tied these around the waist for the photos, but you could really get creative in the styling and leave then trailing or wrapped in a different way. The dress is well cut and well made. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes with a back zipper. The ties at the waist are attached and can be styled a variety of ways. The front top layer of the skirt is attached at the waist seam and then ties to the underskirt at the sides. Elastic is looped through the hem of the actual skirt and this top layer and ties sit at either side of the hem of the skirt.

A gorgeous, dramatic, caftan feel Goldworm print dress that mixes their signature knit with a silk chiffon top. Most of the pieces you find from this label are a poly knit but this one is a amazingly soft knit through the skirt and the top a silk chiffon. The fabric would have been made specifically based on the end design as every element works with the other. A stunning floral print is worked into the knit on the bottom and also screened into the chiffon top. The edgings of the top are fine knit ribbons made to match the striped detailing in the skirt and on the waist. Even the buttons are custom made and degrade in color from the top to the bottom of them! I love the caftan feel cut and the sheerness of the top. It is a true beauty, really fantastic and an easy to wear statement piece. Excellent condition! Item# DD902
This is an utterly fabulous and very rare, late 1970s, early 1980s OMO fringed suit by Norma Kamali. This is the kind of piece that still stops traffic and is definitely not for the girl who is faint of heart. You will get noticed in this one! It is entirely covered with an amazing, six inch long, pink fringe that has been hand sewn into place in rows across the entire jacket and skirt. The amount of movement this makes when the girl who wears it moves is just incredible. The jacket has strong, rounded shoulders and cinches in at the waist. I love the way the hem of the jacket curves to a point at the front and the back. The skirt is short, sexy and fitted. Excellent condition

What a stunning dress! This is an amazing example of Geoffrey Beene's work during this time period and it is one of the best made dresses from this time period I have seen in a while. The details in the construction are just wonderful! A leopard-esque printed black on red silk taffeta is mixed with a light black stretch jersey fabric. On the bodice the ed fabric is top stitched in a quilted look and applied over the black base. It is cut and curved to give the illusion of a bombshell silhouette with a definite nod to the corsets. I love that black diamond of fabric in the middle, it nips in the waist even more that the dress is already cut to do! The skirt is an eighties take on the fifties silhouette and is wonderfully full. The edges of it are curved and it has underskirts and bands of stiffened net running through its hems to hold the shape and create that fullness. It is sleek and sexy and in excellent, appears unworn, condition
Shoulders: no defined seam
Bust: 18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 13.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: open
Bodice: approx 17" from neck to waist

Fully lined in black silk and closes with a back zipper. It has built in skirting made of a combination silk organza and stiffened net - an inner short layer of silk around the hips, over that is a full silk layer whose edge is finished in a 5" band of lace with stiffened net under it to help hold the shape of the skirt. The exterior skirt is lined in silk organza and has a deep hem that also has stiffened net inside all the way around. Each sleeve has a hidden zipper at its cuff and a hook & eye at the wrist.

What a gorgeous little dress! Made of a brilliant green silk with a weave that catches the light and gives interesting texture. Onto this are clusters of little pink cherries (or apples - that caused a big debate around the studio let me tell you!) The top is cut loose with pretty little sleeves. The waist nips in and the skirt flows form there. The skirt is fantastic! Under the top ruffle there is a fitted pencil skirt but over that is draped that fantastic ruffled edged panel of fabric that swoops around the hip and up one side. This gives the dress a bit of a sexy edge and lots of movement! Wonderfully constructed with lots of high end detailing inside. Excellent, unworn condition.
Shoulders: slight drop - 16" across
Bust: 20" flat across the back from side seam to side seam
Waist: 14" flat across the back from side seam to side seam

Skirt length: 23" from waist seam to hem
Unlined through the bodice. The skirt is fully lined in a fine silk organza. It closes at the back with hidden buttons to the waist. It has a side zipper at the waist down and hidden fabric covered snaps form the waist to under the arm. A waist stay inside the waist.

I have two identical Halston Goddess dresses for you and it is one of the best designs that he ever did! Made of a fluid perma pleated cream jersey this sexy silhouette was made infamous by Pat Cleavland and that picture of her in an almost identical dress. That photo just might be one of the most cited photographs whenever anyone talks about Halston! The dress will fit just about any body - the pleats hide the fact that there is an amazing amount of fabric through the body. It slips on and mile long ties wrap and tie at the back of the neck to hold it in place. You can then tie and wraps them as you wish to go anywhere from a loose caftan feel to a more cinched wrapped Grecian Goddess feel. You cannot help but feel amazing in this dress! It is a classic Halston silhouette and both dresses are in excellent condition! Item# DD909
This is a stunning and pretty silk chiffon dress by Adolfo in beautiful neutral shades of taupes and caramels. I love the petal effect that the layers of the skirt an the sleeves give the dress. Each sleeve is a single layer of chiffon with deep petal shaped edges. They are set wide and low into the sides of the dress. The bodice has a panel of light cafe au lait colored lace set over the chiffon in a panel at the front. The skirt has three layers of chiffon - two that sweep to the floor and a third top payer in the same light taupe as the sides and back of the dress. Attached ties cinch in the waist as much was you wish. It is so pretty and so unusual! It is an amazing piece of fashion history! Excellent condition!

Easy to wear and will pack and travel like a dream this poly jersey Hanae Mori dress is super! It is a deep navy with a purple and pink print that is like little hearts on trailing vines. The hem has a wonderful ruffles like finish that give it a ton of movement when you walk and move. The body is a simple waistless sheath so is flattering and easy to wear - if you want more shape you can add a belt! A yoked, smocked bodice and a pretty tie at the neck balance skinny long sleeves. A great piece and cut with the master eye that you would expect from Hanae! Excellent condition!

Killer dress by Leonard of Paris is one of those miracle pieces that will accommodate, and flatter, almost any body type or size. Made of a fluid jersey that has a wonderful custom screened print that would have been planned out prior to the cutting of the fabric so that is would be placed exactly where intended. Brilliantly colored fruits adorn the dress from top to bottom in varying sizes. I love the contrasting border print on the cuffs, hem and neck. The dress is a strong statement piece and fabulously eighties, yet still chic now. Excellent, unworn condition! Item# DD913
A spectacular metallic threaded gown by the great American designer Pauline Trigere! This is an extraordinary piece that beautifully combines cut and exquisite fabric. Made of tissue thin, almost weightless silk chiffon that has that spectacular dots of gold lame thread woven though the silk. From top to bottom fine gold thread gives it a subtle shimmer when you move. It has a plunged front with interesting seam work and the sleeves are narrowed in at the cuff and are fuller near the shoulder! The skirt is beautifully full and flows to the floor. A matching light silk chiffon jacket can be worn with the gown if you wish. A muted pastel hued pattern is screened onto the gown from head to toe. Excellent, seemingly unworn condition. Item# DD916
This is an amazing and wonderful dress! You just know that you will end up dancing by the end of the night in this one! How could you not? If you think it is wonderful in the photos I can guarantee you that it is not even near how great it is in real life. The exterior is a black silk taffeta and then it is fully and properly lined with a crazy brilliant green lining. Which is screened with his signature dot! With every slick and twist of the skirt that lining pops up and makes an impact! The bodice is very sexy with a halter top and straps that scoop down to the low cut back. Darling little bows sit in the small of the back. The skirt is full and has flat pleats worked into it to give it maximum movement. You could add a crinoline if you wanted for even more fullness but I have shown it here as it is without. Excellent, seemingly unworn condition.

Treacy Lowe designed around fabric. She used the lightest, finest, near impossible to work with, tissue silks and sheer silk chiffon's. Using fabrics on that level meant that a dress like this weighs a mere few ounces. The print has art feeling paisley type design with contracting borders. The sleeves are left unlined with the same border making up the cuff. Once done up the sleeve above billows softly. The print is hand screened onto the silk and the design is still brilliant in hue and cover every inch of the dress. I love the extra bit of vertical seaming that has been done of the collar border! Made of the finest woven Indian silk you could get at that time. And is still has its original fabric sash! Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Sleeves: 22.5"
Shoulder: 14.5" across

An extraordinary silk fifties dress in every way, from its charmingly full skirt to it's nipped in waist and stunning fabric. You can just picture the girl in her flats and cat eyed sunglasses and scarf over her curls that would have worn this. It is a wonderful example of Fogarty's work and eye for fabric. Constructed from fine Indian grade fabric that would have captured the exoticism trend happening in that that time. I love contrast of the Indian paisley feel design mixed with bold striping. The fabric is light as a feather yet the dress still feel structured and proper - an amazing contrast. The skirt would have been constructed around fabric screened specifically for it. Each pleat has the striping inside so when you move you get lots on visual interest. The bodice is cut like a proper fifties dress should be with rounded shoulder and gussets under each arm. The fabric is again used specifically to follow the design. Amazing! Excellent condition.

This late 1970s, early 1980s typifies the movement towards clothes that were easy to wear and had a sportswear meets runway feel to them. Made of a soft light cotton poly mix the dress feels fantastic on and is one of those slip on and go pieces that will work year round. It is full of amazing, but subtle Koos touches. Bits of contrasting print are worked through the design - the more closely you look at the piece the better it gets! I love the piped borders of a stiffened cotton dot ribbon - it adds just a hint of structure and a definite visual interest. The skirt is soft and flows out from the elastic waist. The bodice is cut long so it can be draped above an added belt to the waist can be worn lower on the hips for a more hippie feel. The collar buttons so you can change the feel by having them closed or leaving some (or all) open. Excellent condition. Item# DD923
Amazing and very rare early dress from the original Saint Laurent ready to wear label. The colors are amazing! Who else but Yves could mix† clay colored hues with a purple blue and make you wonder why you do not wear them together every day? The print would have been custom screened specifically for this dress and the fabric is an unusual silk knit that is fine and light. It is extremely sexy and has an almost Ossie Clark feel with the way the bodice is cut. A deep plunge turns into a buttoned front and you can see flashes of skin between each button. The waist is slightly dropped and the skirt flows from there. Flat seamed pleat work circles the hips in his signature manner, and allow the maximum amount of fabric through the bottom portion of the skirt. The top is fitted and so sexy with sleeves that pouf up above their cuffs. It is a masterpiece and in unworn, excellent, museum quality condition.
Sleeves: 27" (meant to pouf a bit)

Also please note that the bust 16" falt across f;at but has strecth the mannequin it is on has a 35-36" bust to illustrate fit.

However much you think this looks fabulous in the photographs it is infinitely better in person. This is truly one of those extraordinary, couture level pieces that every collector and vintage lover needs to own in their collections. Everything about this piece is perfection. It is in perfect condition and appears to have never been worn. It is entirely finished by hand - you can clearly see the hand work down to set the lining into the dress. The dress is constructed of long vertical panels that are folded and knife pleated flat upon each other, without creating bulk, so that as if near the skirt it turns into pleat work. The green is brilliant and there is a raised design woven directly into the exterior fabric. The jacket is as fantastic as a stand alone piece as it is as the completion of the set. Huge jeweled buttons adorn the front and I love the top stitching on the collar and those decorative flaps on each hip. A vented pleat is worked down the back seam. No shortcut was taken in the construction and it is a stand out piece in every possible way! Excellent, appears unworn condition.

An astonishingly chic and fabulous dress by Jean Paul Gaultier. When I attended the opening of his exhibit in San Francisco I spotted a dress from this same collection being showcased there (the same exhibit that is now making its way around thew world to much acclaim!) On the runway, this same print was featured in the F/W runway presentation - I have included the photo of look 35 for your reference.
The fabric is amazing - angels, cherubs, stars and Baroque beauties cavort across it within medallions of vines and flowers. It is fitted to the body with a strapless bodice and the skirt is slightly sculpted and rounded. The back is amazing - a lace panel sits above the waist and one of the scenes has been hand cut and appliqued onto it creating a picturesque frame. The zipper is masterfully hidden under a side seam so it looks like there is no zipper to interrupt this design detail. It has an extreme couture like sculptural feel and the fabric used is a high quality silk brocade. I love the little slanted pockets that sit on each hip just begging for the wearer to slip her hands into and strike a runway worthy pose. It is a masterpiece. Excellent condition and appears to have never been worn.
Fully lined in a rich, heavy weight silk through the skirt and silk net & silk through the bodice. It closes with a hidden zipper at the back that runs under the side seam. It is boned through the bodice and has hand finished cups set inside of the bust. The pockets on each hip are lined in silk. Note that some of the photos have a slight yellow reflection to it - the dress is a subtle silver grey - the color in the photos in a reflection from the light only. It is flawless.

I love Donald Brooks pieces and this is a wonderful example of his work and attention to subtle detailing. A seemingly simple full length dress has lots of extra details that make is a stand out. Made of a voile cotton mix fabric it has pretty little multi colored flowers screened on it from top to bottom. From a distance these look like bright little dots, but as you get closer you see they are all individual blossoms! The skirt is gathered in at the waist and cascades to the floor. The bodice is simple with a wide scooped neck and no sleeves. I love the rows of ribbon that are appliqued to create a band around the waist. These are then picked up and circle the entire hem as well. Wonderful and in excellent condition!

Wonderful full length silk chiffon dress in a brilliant red. The skirt flows to the ground in a cascade of silk - there are yards of fabric in that skirt! The halter top is quite beautiful with a gathered bst and twisted swatch of silk chiffon that goes up and around the neck. The color is that perfect shade of red with a slight blue undertone Perlberg made these pieces to be danced in and this one would look amazing twirling across the dance floor! Very Grecian goddess and very sexy. Excellent condition. Item# DD940
This is a very, very early rendition of what would go onto become one of Ossie's most famous and recognizable designs. This late 1960s, possibly early 1970s maxi is based loosely on a "graduation" gown mixed with the flowing softness and drape he was renowned for and a dash of sex. The front plunges in a deep square cut to the empire waist. An attached tie wraps around and gives the gown and the wearer shape and keeps the plunge from moving about. The skirt flows from the front gathers under the neckline and then from the shoulders at the back. It cascades to the ground and is balanced by sleeves that pouf up above each cinched wrist. This dress is unusual in two regards - first the tie is shorter and wider then the long fabric ties he used later when the dress was produced in larger quantities - on this dress each tie has a satin backing, whereas later renditions are just fabric ties. And second, the fabric is not the standard moss crepe that is used later, but a lightweight, almost felt-like jersey fabric. This is the couture Ossie Clark label and it also has the Jeeves Dry Cleaning, Quorum recommended, tag that instantly dates it as one of his earliest pieces. The Ossie collector will instantly recognize just how important this dress is - all version of this dress are just later renditions of this one! Excellent condition.

Bust: to 22" flat across from side seam to side seam

Unlined and slips over the head to wear and has satin backed ties at the waist. Each cuff has has two fabric covered buttons at the wrist. When I go over a McQueen dress the thing I always marvel at is how close in construction it is to its older, hand tailored counter parts. If not for the label and slightly different grade fabrications you almost get the thought that you are handling a piece of very well made vintage. He excelled in his tailoring and did not scrimp or save on seaming or fabric when he made a dress. The dress was made properly and in traditional manners with all the little details one comes to expect in high end vintage. This dress is a fabulous example of that. It is impeccable tailored and the lining is as high a grade of silk as the exterior. Small details abound - a zipper set so that it all but disappears from sight, gussets under the arm, deep pleating worked in the skirting and bodice and hand placed work through the hem so it has the slightest drawing in to suggest a tulip silhouette. Ties sit at each side of the waist to cinch it in and the front plunges. It is beautiful and wearable and a great piece of fashion history and testament to his genius. Excellent condition.

Am amazing and chic 1960s dress that perfectly captures the mood of the times. At first glance you think that the dress is only embroidered but that stunning patter is actually created by a combination of embroidery work mixed with white sequins that are used to create those beautiful medallions! The dress is not perfect - there is a sequin missing here and there and at some point the inside hem was redone and it is not the most perfect job ever (I chose to leave it as found to conserve as much length as possible) but it presents well and is still infinitely wearable as either a super short mini or a tunic over a skinny pant. The front has a hook over a keyhole neckline so you can wear it closed or open and it flares out gently as it nears the hem. Little pockets sit low on the hips, hidden along the seam on either side. Its fantastic despite its vintage patina and I love it! Item# DD885
Brilliant floral print chiffon, full length dress by Chester Weinberg, one of the great American designers! He was renowned for his love of fabric and based the design on the fabric choice rather then vice versa. You can almost picture him looking at the beautiful long lines of the pattern on this and deciding they would best be displayed on a dress with long and lean proportions. The dress is as stunning and bright as it appears in the photos and is even better in person! The outermost layer of chiffon has huge pink and coral flowers custom screened onto it from top to bottom. Brilliant pops of green are worked in amongst them for maximum contrast. The bodice buttons to below the waist for a shirt like feel with cuffed sleeves for the perfect finish. It is a beautiful, dramatic piece and in excellent condition.
