Interesting and unusual shape rhinestone Tiara from approximately the 1920s though it might be a little earlier or a little later. It has a silver metal base and I love that the inside of the head band is finished with etched in scroll work. The Rhinestones are prong set with the very peak welded and fixed into place but with the strands connecting to the band left so that they have some movement. No missing or darkened stones. Fabulous!
A very unusual twenties boudoir cap or cloche is all hand formed from gold metallic ribbon applied in circles and then stitched down. The edges that result are all scalloped. The inside stitching is somewhat crude. I suspect a girl made this for herself to wear back then. I cant really figure out what the front or the back is - it can be worn just about anyway. Was packed & stored and looks unworn. Really neat piece in great condition.
Interesting and regal rhinestone Tiara from approximately the 1920s though it might be a little earlier or a little later. It has a silver metal base with big rhinestones that are prong set and five large faux pearls along the front. No missing or darkened stones. Fabulous & fit for the princess in you!
I am having a little hippie chic bohemian moment so forgive me the indulgence of sharing it with you. There is just something about these late 60s, early 70s hand made, soft as butter leathers that just feel right at the moment. The Char label is one of the best and has a cult like following and I have a couple of really unusual pieces to share. This one is a fantastic cropped bolero made of a combination of dyed sueded deer skin in a rust color with fantastic snake insets under each arm. Char made these pieces, by hand from approx 1968 - about 1975-76 in Mexico. Some of the best leather craftsman in the world were there at the time and the piece made are fantastic. It's all hand whip-stitched and corded and the ball details on the tassel on the front are hand carved. Just look at those amazing shoulders! Unusual and fantastic and in excellent condition.
I am having a little hippie chic bohemian moment so forgive me the indulgence of sharing it with you. There is just something about these late 60s, early 70s hand made, soft as butter leathers that just feel right at the moment. This is a unusual and I think quite rare piece that would have been hand made in Mexico for the Michael Novarese label. One normally thinks of Novarese and pictures beaded gowns so to see this little bohemian hippie piece is really something. Some of the best leather craftsman in the world were being made in Mexico at the time and the piece made are fantastic. The jacket is all hand whip-stitched and made form that butter soft deerskin. Just look at those amazing details and pockets! Unusual and fantastic and in excellent condition.
A spectacular 1950s hand painted Mexican circle skirt. It is on a cream cotton base with a black painted overlay and the scenes circle the entire skirt . The series of painting depict the absolutely most adorable donkey with a wicker basket filled with flowers. Other hige blossoms and braided rope accent that design. The scenes are then highlighted with hand placed and sewn silver sequins. It is all hand painted and the subtle black and whote color palette has added depth with the charcoal grey hoghlighting It ties at the waist and one set has hook and eyes to secure. Note that these can be moved so it sits exactly right on you once you receive it! A very unusual piece and highly collectible too!
Rare and hard to find piece - this is a 1970s Courreges mesh stretch turtleneck that amazingly comes to you in its original plastic package with the Courreges logo embossed on it, original price tag and cardboard insert! Like stepping back into time! Its a deep navy blue and the body is a semi sheer knit mesh. The turtleneck and cuffs are a ribbed knit - classic Courreges and the Courrege logo is embroidered in knit just below the neck. I have this exact top in white as well - it will be listed in the upcoming weeks but if you are interested you can contact me. Its in unworn, excellent condition.
This pretty little yellow silk Ungaro blouse is in perfect condition. It's such an unusual design - the shoulders and sleeves are cut wonderfully -they have little squared off corners at the shoulders and each elbow. The silk allows it to drape so its a subtle, odd detail that you really notice most when its lying flat but it allows it to sit just differently enough to make the piece unusual and very cool. It has a long tie that you can wrap around the waist for definition or use at the neck. Unworn, mint condition.
An amazing slightly textured silk crepe striped top from Ungaro. The fabric is wonderful - that rich silk crepe that feels like a dream and drapes perfectly. The design is a cream and black stripe whose direction is used to create an interesting visual effect. Over the striping large tropical blooms are screened on - love the contrast A simple scoop neck and loose blouse top is caught up on one side and a killer sash tie extends down almost to the knee. A really fabulous and innovative design! Excellent condition!]
Michaele Vollbracht pieces are so unusual and graphic - as time goes by they seem to get better and better. He loved silk and he loved to splash huge graphics across the fabric and then work that into a garment. This Rooster skirt is killer. To the floor with a cinched waist and then quite a full shape without being too full, the silk falls wonderfully. A subtle stripe runs through the fabric adding an extra dimension. And then that rooster! A huge colorful rooster adorns both the front and back! A very unusual piece and highly collectible too! Mint, still has its original price tag attached condition.
Gorgeous sequin and beaded shell top is classic sixties chic! This is an exceptional example of the little sequin piece and a modern girl could work it into her wardrobe by pairing it with unexpected fabrics or cuts (cargoes & sequins anyone?) Glossy black sequins cover every inch and then a tightly beaded diamond & triangle design works its way around the bottom hem and the collar! Those are all done in blue, yellow and coral and the effect against the black is fabulous! Excellent condition and a show stopping piece!
An exceptional 1950s skirt that is made of a woven fabric spotted through out with intricate little cut outs. The fabric is actually white base upon which the most detailed, extraordinary design has been painted or screened over in a black! Abstract stripes and waves flow towards the hem and circling the entire skirt is a painted ring of bows! I have had a similar dress in the past and was equally blown away! It almost looks like its made of paper upon first glance. I styled it over a deep red crinoline to that accounts for the color - it will show any color you put under it! The waist is finished with a silk check. It's a rare little gem indeed! A very unusual piece!
A stunning silk chiffon printed floral maxi skirt from Valentino! It's a rare thing to find pieces from the Valentino Boutique days and this skirt is absolutely stunning! Cut in his classic goddess styling the skirt is entirely made of feather light layers of silk chiffon all screened with bouquets of pinks flowers! The inner layer is cut long and lean with a scooped effect and a layer that swoops over the inner layers - it gives the appearance of a sarong style skirt. At one side is an amazing gathered swag of the same silk chiffon so it scoops up over the hip and then flows out and down the side. It is longer then the skirt hem so creates a wonderful train effect! I love how the pattern changes to black at the bottom to anchor the print. Really lovely and highly collectible piece!
Super rare and super fabulous butterfly print top from the iconic Biba label. The prints used, like this one, that have a strong art deco reference are the most desirable and to pair that with a charming butterfly design and fabulous color palette is just a wonderful thing! I love the styling of this one - it has fabulous balloon sleeves with Biba's trademark high shoulder and skinny upper arm. The collar is pointed and the front can be left unbuttoned fairly low if you wish. A suggestion of a peplum hip and a fine cotton mix voile fabric all add up to an extraordinary piece! Excellent condition!
I have added the pictures of Lady Gaga wearing the exact copy of this bag while out and about in October of 2011. Two icons meet! Yes this is a real and I assume will work, portable telephone handbag. This is indeed a fully functional phone that you plug into a wall jack and then dial away. The receiver is handily integrated into the bag's handle - you just undo the Velcro and voila - chat away! You dial using those front buttons and the cord to plug it in tucks into the bag. Shiny red vinyl gives it a nice mod touch and it still has its original long detachable strap. In a season where the 60s & 70s are back and in full swing - this is a fab and kitshy one of a kind piece!
A spectacular 1950s hand painted Mexican circle skirt. It is on a cream cotton base and the scenes circle the entire skirt. The series of painting depict an couple dancing with there village and scenery painted all the way around the skirt behind them! It is all hand painted and very well done - the faces are fabulous on the couple. It ties at the waist from both front and back as was typical of these so the waist size can be adjusted so it sits exactly right on you once you receive it! A very unusual piece and highly collectible too! Excellent condition and really an excellent example of these pieces!
A spectacular 1950s hand painted Mexican circle skirt. The skirt is on a cream cotton base with the most amazing scenes that circle the entire skirt. The series of painting depict a festival of some sort in full swing - girls in full costumes dance their way around the skirt to the music of painted musicians Brilliant flowers, grand trees and the village all reside in the background. The scenes are then highlighted with hand placed and sewn translucent different colored sequins. It is all hand painted and beautifully done.† It ties at the waist and one set has hook and eyes to secure. Note that these can be moved so it sits exactly right on you once you receive it! This is a really unusual skirt and has a decidedly couture feel to it! You can see that trademark Valentino touch in this piece with its two layers of fullness - cinched in between so that it creates to great and dramatic poufs! The taffeta has just enough weight to keep the shape and you can wear it more or less bubbled by adjusting a tie that sits under the top pouf! A very unusual piece and in mint condition!
I am still having that little hippie chic bohemian moment this season so forgive me the indulgence of sharing it with you. There is just something about these late 1960s, early 1970s hand made, (and often made to order), soft as butter leathers that just feel right for the mood of the season. The Char label is one of the best of the hand made hippie chic labels from the sixties and seventies and has a cult like following - and I have a couple of really unusual pieces to share! This one is a fantastic vest that is hand-dyed to a deep pinky red color - you can imagine the dye came from the desert itself! (It is a slight more dusty red then photoed) It is a combination of suede and deer skin that is hand cut and whip-stitched into place. The deerskin front and back panels are then hand painted with a bouquet of sweet little field flowers. Char made these pieces, by hand from approx 1968 - about 1975-76 in Mexico. Some of the best leather craftsman in the world were there at the time and the piece made are fantastic. Unusual and fantastic and in great worked in condition.
In all my years of collecting I have never seen a Char belt before. Coats, vests, pants, dresses, capes and even bags but never a belt! Never mind a corseted tie belt that is hand painted on butter soft deer hide mixed with patches of hand dyed snake skin. The edges are whip-stitched with a dyed pale green rawhide on the edges and a bighter green rawhide to fix the snake skin in place. Then they geniusly used a red version of the ties for the corseted front. It's just a jewel of a piece and in wonderful condition!
I love these Malcolm Starr pieces - they are little works of art and really the best of the whole sixties arts and crafts movement. With the current trend back to maxis they also seem even more relevant. There is something shockingly fresh about wearing an elaborate and colorful maxi skirt with a chic modern top and shoes. This one is the classic merry go round skirt with its lovely felt applique riders circling the entire skirt. Gold braid highlights the design and a variety of fabrications are used to create the design. The riders literally pop off the skirt with their little 3D accents! An amazing combination of color and textures its in wonderful condition!

This one is the classic Ringmaster skirt and depicts the classic animals of the circus with the big top colors all around. Lions, panthers - all the bog cats are represented and made of felt and faux fur - all in 3d! An amazing combination of color and textures its in wonderful condition
