• This is an outstanding production dress from the Fall 2010 collection. 
• It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
• At first glance it feels very much in line with what he was doing for 2007 with his castle /fairy prints. For this collection he visited upon graphic black and grey-scale prints once again. We did find a photo from the 2010 look book that shows a shorter similar version of the dress. Just to give you an idea of how the top especially will fit once on the body.
• The dress is made out of a beautifully weighted silk that he loved to use because it gave him the drape and fluidity that he wanted his pieces to have.
• The shoulders of the dress are padded with thicker rounded pads hidden inside. Falling from there and extending around to the back is a beautiful caped panel that drapes over the top of your arms and then folds up and under itself to create the draping around and down the back. He used a double layer of the silk for this panel so that when you move you see the pattern underneath. It is these exacting small details that always make a McQueen piece stand out.
• The front neck line is set in a draping cowl that sits over an inner V. The dress skims over the bust and waist and then widens out to curve over the hips.
• Yards and yards of fabric have been used to construct the skirt. It is set into the body of the dress on a curving seam that is beautiful. He often use these curving and angled seams that are throwback to Couture pieces of the 1920s and 30s and here he has used it beautifully. The silk in the skirt is all cut on the bias. The back trails out longer behind you and all of this adds up to spectacular movement around you when you move.
• This is a truly outstanding McQueen dress.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hidden set partial mid-set zipper at the back whose placement is again a nod to the Couture pieces of the 20s and 30s. The shoulders are padded. It appears to have been worn very little if at all

• The dress dates to the late 1990s-early 2000s time period of the Versace label.
• It was made under the creative direction of Gianni Versace.
• The dress is made out of of a fabulous metallic silver stretch lame that makes it incredibly easy to wear and fit.
• On the bodice wide panels curve up and over the shoulders. The shoulders are cut wide and sloped so that they sit slightly off the shoulder. There is a bit of padding underneath to hold the shape correctly on your shoulder.
• The front plunges all the way down to the waist. I love how the way the bodice is constructed. It looks like it has all been flung over your shoulders and ties into place at the waist. It looks effortless but this is actually all achieved by the way it is seamed and set.
• Where it meets at the front there is attached tie that loops over itself to create the suggestion of a knot and then that falls all the way down the front.
• The skirt curves out over the hips and the entire upper portion of the skirt at the front has been gathered into the centre seam. From the hem up to the base of all of the gathers is a high slit that allows a flash of leg when you walk or move.
• The silver catches the light from every angle to give it a liquid affect over the body and the stretch of the fabric makes it very comfortable, easy to wear and fit.
• The dress is unlined and slips on with an elastic waist. There is light padding in each shoulder. The stretch should allow it to fit ranger sizes. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The near twin of this dress walked the Spring 2005 ODLR runway for Look 53.
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• I love having video and the reference photos however I do want to point out that the skirt on this dress is slightly different than the one that walked the runway. It falls longer and is swept up slightly to one side. I think after the runway, they reconfigured the skirt slightly and it is far better on this dress than what you see in the runway photos and video.
• Vogue said that his collections "are a delight to the eye: flawlessly executed, poised, and urbane with just the right balance of mature charm and youthful exuberance" and this dress in particular was noted when they said "When it comes to evening wear no one knows more about giving women what they want... a cooly elegant strapless dress with an undulating puff skirt? In Oscar's world there's no such thing as the wrong choice."
•  The dress is made out of the perfect deep fuchsia pink silk. It is strapless and the neckline curves around and over the bust dipping in the middle. The strapless silhouette leaves your upper back bare and exposed.
• Starting at the waist area the silk is draped from the centre of the back and wraps around the waist and over the top of the hip on either side. It is then gathered over itself at the centre front. I think this detail is beautiful.
• Inside there is a full built-in corset that is cupped, boned and shaped for support.
• The skirt is spectacular. Here you see the genius of Oscar. The skirt has a ton of volume to it that shows best when you move. It is made out of a cascade of silk with a second layer under the top layer. At the front both layers are cut shorter and then sweep and curve around to the back.
• The skirt becomes wider and more full as it nears the hem and at the back it falls longer then the front so that you get this pretty curve from the side view along with a fantastic sweep of skirts from the back. On the runway, this was very symmetrical and shorter but this has that second inner layer that falls lower on the leg and it has a bit more of an asymmetrical feel. It is so much better and more dramatic than how it was shown on the runway in my opinion.
• All of the volume is created by the sheer amount of silk used and the addition of a pink silk organza lining which helps to hold air between the two layers and keep the volume.
• When this is on and you are walking the effect and movement that this creates is absolutely gorgeous. This is Oscar at his very best.
• The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk organza. The interior corset closes with its own zipper at the back and then a second hidden set zipper closes the dress over that. The inner corset is fully boned and cupped. An attached inner waist stay hooks to close. I see a tiny bit of stress to the seam just under the zipper that is very minor but mentioned for accuracy, and perhaps some grubbiness around the hem, again very minor but mentioned for accuracy.
• There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

• The twin of this dress was Look 35 on the Spring 2008 Yves Saint Laurent runway for Look 35.
• It was made under the creative direction of Stefano Pilati
• On the runway the dress was worn by Freja and it was also shot on Kate Moss that season.
• Stefani said that he had been thinking of "goddesses and stars" for the evening pieces.
• This was the strongest dress of the collection and I love having all of these reference photos for you because you can see just how beautiful this dress is on the body.
• The dress is made out of a beautifully weighted silk that is cut on the bias. The colour is a deep fuchsia pink. That is a rich and lovely jewel tone.
• The end entire dress falls from one shoulder. The sleeve on that side is kept simple, starting out wide from the body and then narrows at the cuff.
• The front of the dress angles down on a curve and it does the same at the back. It is more fitted through the bust and curves past the waist.
• The bias cut lets it skim over and fall over the hips to highlight your curves.
• The skirt falls from there and is made from seamed panels that give a nod to the thirties in their execution.
• The skirt is very full and that, combined with the bias cut, give this incredible movement as you move. It  is an extremely sensual and sexy feeling dress once on.
• I think this was one of the strongest dresses of his entire time at this label.
• The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk and it closes with a hidden set zipper at the side. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress was Look 15 in the Spring Monique Lhuillier presentation.
• It was made under the creative direction of Monique Lhuillier.
• We have included a photo of it on the Dee Hilfiger in between that and the presentation photo, you can see how spectacular this dress is on the body.
• The Lookbook was shot at a picturesque French château and Lhuillier  said of the show that she "wanted the clothes to be seen in the place where they might be worn”.
• The bodice is strapless and cut to hug you and shape your curves. The peaks at the front are high and the netted tulle wraps over the bodice with variations in colour to add a bit of interest and depth. Inside it boned and shaped and the back scoops down and around.
• The waist is nipped in and then the skirt explodes out from under that. The skirt is spectacular. It is layers and layers of tulle set on top of each other and cut in different sections to get its elaborate shape.
• Underneath each layer is netting cut to follow the shape above and then that has a wide panel of stiffened netting that goes all the way around you and follows the pattern of the skirt. The back is cut a little longer so that you get a bit of a trailing effect behind you.
• The bodice has a built-in netted and lightly boned corset and the skirt is lined in a pink silk. Layers of netting underneath the tulle as described above. Retailed just over $10k and produced in limited quantities. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for Spring 2018 Collection as Look 89.
• It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld.
• This was the final closing wedding look of the collection and is an outstanding and rare piece of Chanel history.
• On the runway it was layered underneath a chiffon ruffled top. It works fabulously on its own as well.
• Lurex threads, crystal jewellery and transparent elements ran throughout the collection. Vogue noted that "the integrate balance between natural looking textures and advanced technical skills, was breathtakingly dynamic to behold." Karl himself noted that all of the fabrics were made by Chanel in-house with "not a fabric here which you can buy elsewhere". 
  
• And indeed the fabric on the dress is extraordinary. It is in almost weightless silk chiffon with multiple shades of ultra fine metallic silver thread woven through the silk into horizontal rows.
• The dress is strapless and inside the bodice there is a full built-in corset to hold the dress in place. The corset has its own zipper to close and is boned all the way around. I love that the lining of that corset has been embossed with various Chanel logos and the Camelia flower.
• At the front the fabric is set in criss cross panels that angle down and over the bodice. It is cut to come in for some shape through the waist and then curves back out over the hips. The angling and overlap of the fabric panels creates an interesting visual detail. At the back he has stacked those same layers in a true horizontal pattern and I love seeing the slight difference from the front and back as you turn.
• The skirt is phenomenal. It curves down and out from underneath the last stacked panel and is set in beautiful ruffled tiers.
• At the front the ruffles sweep up to the centre to leave an expanse of bare leg showing and the ruffles move fantastically around your legs when you move. And at the back they fall to create a beautiful movement behind you.
• In person the dress is a paler, more apparent silver, and it has a real sense of lightness that the photos do not convey.
• A little silver Chanel plaque sits on one hip for the perfect finish.
• The dress is fully lined in a soft silver grey Chanel logo embossed silk through the body of the dress and again for the inner corset. The corset is boned all the way around inside and closes with its own separate zipper. An attached inner waist stay hooks to close. A hidden set back zipper closes over that. Inside the bodice there is a band of a slightly rubberized fabric that goes around the top of the inside bodice to help hold it in place. Beautifully made. The dress appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2020 Emporio Armani collection for the Look 59.
• It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
• The collection was entitled "Air" and the pieces were soft. The show opened under a projection of a lightly clouded sky, and when the evening pieces walked the runway, it changed to a star filled moonscape. Appropriate given the silvers and greys of the final grouping of dresses. The sequins and paillettes on the dress catch the light beautifully and you can see that in the reference video.
• This was shown as a strapless piece on the runway. The straps that it was sent to the shops with are set inside the upper edge of the bodice so that they could easily be tucked in if you preferred it that way.
  
• The dress is made out of a textured silk organza that is beautifully light in weight but still has enough structure to hold the shape that you see.
• Onto the silk are little oval paillettes done in different shades of silver and pewter. Each is suspended from the dress by a little hole at their tops and as they progress down the dress they have a little beaded bit so that they hang off of the dress more. At the top of the dress they are so heavily overlapped that they almost stand up and off of the dress and then as they reach the hem they scatter out.
• A grey piping finishes the neckline and that is also what the straps are made out of. From there it skims over the bust and widens out around the waist for a easy to fit feel. It continues to widen out over the hips all the way to the hem. 
• These were produced on a very limited basis and that is noted on the tag. It was priced at just over 6K at retail.
• The dress is fully lined in matching grey silky feeling fabric and it closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1983 YSL Haute Couture collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
• The dress would have been completely made by hand in the Paris atelier
• In this collection Yves paid homage to Paris. He told French Vogue that the collection was dedicated to "the prestige of Paris, as I knew it when I first arrived… That is why it reflects many things from my youth, my first sensations when I arrived in Paris from Algeria.". The book Yves Saint Laurent: Catwalk noted that the cuts were loose and offered room to breathe. Pink and black with the two primary colours used for this season and that "the black dresses were chic and cut to perfection".
• This dress is exceptional in person and I feel like the photos are not giving it full justice. The silk is light and weight, and it has far more drape and ease than I think the photos are conveying. It is an absolutely beautiful and chic dress that needs a body to truly come to life.
• The runway photos really give you a better idea of how this dress will look like once on the body.
• The dress is made out of a light weight black silk of exceptional quality.
• The shoulders are lightly shaped and the silk has been gathered up and into the shoulders. The sleeves are cut wider where they are set into the bodice and then narrow to a zippered wrist.
• The dress wraps and snaps at the side to close and there is a built-in inner waist stay to hold it perfectly in place. This is one of his signature designs and allows the drape that you see while letting the dress stay secure. It also allows the bodice to drape beautifully over you.
• The wrap of the dress creates a V neck line at both the front and the back.
• Where the dress closes at the waist the fabric has been gathered into a black silk bow to highlight the waist area. On one side of the dress the fabric is finished with a pleating detail that opens up to create the perfect drape over the body. On the other side, it is pulled up and under the bow which lets the hem at that side have a slight curve up from the bottom.
• The dress is so well-made that I think you could wear it either way around depending on how it works best on you.
• This is an extraordinary piece of true Haute Couture by one of the greatest designers of our lifetime.
• The dress is unlined and is completely hand finished inside to Haute Couture standards. It hooks and snaps to close at the waist and inside there is a hidden set zipper and inner built-in waist stay. Each sleeve zips to close at the wrist. Light padding at the top of each shoulder. 
• There is no size tag present because it is true Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.

• This is one of his most iconic and collectible designs that dates to 1972.
• The dress made under the creative direction of Ossie Clark 
  
• Ossie named all of his couture dress and this one is known as the Cuddly.
• To wear the dress you simply slip it on and wrap it at the waist where it ties into place.
• The dress is made out of his signature moss crepe in black.
• The wrap creates a V at the front and then the back has a large open cut out that leaves your back bare and exposed. 
  
• It is very sexy and instantly recognizable as being an Ossie Clark piece.
• The sleeves are phenomenal. Each is a huge very full balloon bishop cut sleeve that are puffed and full above their cuffs.
• Once the dress is wrapped around you the skirt curves over your hips and then falls to the floor, widening out as it nears the hem. The dress is in its original length.
• The wrap leaves a long overlap at the front side of the skirt. When you stand still it falls over itself but when you move or sit you do a flash of leg. Depending on how tight you tie out around the waist you can show the entire leg.
  
• The dress is unlined and made out of a black moss crepe. One tie is a little shorter then the other but does not appear to have been altered. I see very minor bits of lighter areas on the moss crepe here and there. This is a natural patina on this type of fabric as in ages. I see a small break on the fabric along the front and a small repair near the hem. Minor but mentioned for accuracy
• The wrap style should allow it to fit a variety of sizes.

• The twin of the dress was presented for the Resort 2018 Michael Kors presentation.
• It was made under the creative direction of Michael Kors
• The show was presented at the Whitney Museum and he said that he chose that space to remind people that they live on an island, calling the theme "Tropicalia a la Tomboy". The evening pieces he described as being the "super easy, super glamorous point of the whole collection."
• This is a fantastically easy dress to wear and has all the hallmarks of the amazing tailoring that Michael excels at with this particular silhouette of dress.
• The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are small caps. The neckline is slightly scooped and the bust skims over you with perfectly placed darts to help shape it around the body.
• The waist is seamed for shape and then it curves out over the hips. It falls in a chic pencil shape that will land just below the knee depending on your height.
• The base fabric is a fine black virgin wool with a bit of spandex added so that it has some stretch and feels insanely comfortable once on the body.
• Onto that is a lovely and intricate design that runs over the entire dress. It combines tiny gold sequins that are set to overlap and create the outline of a abstract design that is filled with a little teardrop and circle shaped glossy black paillette sequins. These are only attached at their very tips so they have the slightest bit of movement. They are so densely applied that they sit off of the dress slightly to create an amazing three dimensional texture.
• It is very chic, very easy and very Michael Kors.
• The dress is fully lined in black silky rayon and closes at the back with the hidden set zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The near twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 2009 collection for Look 29. 
• It was made under the creative direction of Junya Watanabe
• A version was shot for Vogue Korea that season and we have included those reference photos so you can get an idea of how fantastically this will sit on the body.
• The dress still has its original tags and was never worn so it is pristine.
• The soft sculptural quality of the dress is phenomenal. It is made out of a very light in weight black nylon that is very pliant. Light in weight padding lies between the layers that make up the body of the dress. This gives the dress a soft structure and the incredible volume and shape that you see. We have added nothing underneath to any of these photos to create the volume that you see.
• The sleeves extend out from either side of the neck line to slope softly outward from the shoulder.
• Both the front and back plunge into a V and are detailed with a chunky gold toned metal chain that is hand stitched into place. The chain continues from there to cross over itself at the front and at the back. From there it scoops over to the sides. On one side the chain curves down and over one hip on the outside of the dress and on the other side  it sits on the interior of the dress. The fabric is gathered and hand stitched into the chain to create the beautiful curving shapes that the dress has. It is ingenious.
• An open keyhole is created at the back where the chains meet and the dress is so well-made that I think you could wear it either way around if you wanted that at the front instead.
• The skirt is phenomenal. It is quilted and lightly padded. It scoops back up and under itself at the hem and is attached into the chain that sits in the interior.
• The dress is like a complicated puzzle that has been peace together perfectly.
• The skirt is full and when I lay it out flat it makes a complete circle of fabric.
• The the skirt is constructed so that the inside is the same fabric as the outside and the bodice is unlined. It slips on to wear with no closures. Its easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes. On a smaller frame it will just feel more oversized. • The near twin of this dress walked the Fall 2002 runway for Look 50 in the collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• Photos from a Moroccan open air market were projected onto the stagefront and this is what set the tone for the show that season. In the review of the collection that year Vogue commented; 'There was a whiff of far-flung exoticism throughout the collection... almost every outfit got a touch of spice via embroidery, (or) a dusting of sequins. De la Renta ended as always, with a parade of great evening wear... just a thing for midnight at the Medina.'
• The dress has this fabulous almost sculptural feel with is simple cut and that beautiful deep purple silk fabric. It's full coverage keeps it feeling very refined and elegant.
• The silk is a very high quality and feels very smooth to the touch. This fabric choice keeps it fairly light in weight but it still has enough structure to hold that gorgeous shape that you see.
• The neck is a shallow scoop and the bodice is cut to skim over you. The shoulders are shaped but soft and the sleeves are long and slightly taper down to the wrist.
• The waist is brought in through curved vertical seaming and the skirt falls from there to the floor. 
• I love the patchwork panels that are added all the way around the lower hem. These are made up of a variety of embroidered silks and velvets that have the occasional mirrored embellishment worked within the embroidery. These run all the way around the hem and up and into the skirt.
• Underneath the top layer is a vivid pink underskirt with a stiffen hem and ruffle covering over that. I have taken a photo to show you how the very edge of this ruffle peaks out from underneath the outer hem of the skirt for an unexpected shot of vibrant colour.
• The underskirt helps add support and hold the fullness of the skirt. It adds a pretty sense of sweeping skirts as you walk away.
  
• Hidden pockets are set along each hip.
• The dress is fully lined in a vibrant pink silk. It closes with a hidden back set zipper and each sleeve has a hidden set zipper at its cuff. There is a tiny bit of stress to the center and one side seam near the waist at the back. Please see the photo after the label shot. The zipper has a tiny bit of stick when it hits the spot. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little at all.

• The twin of this set walked the runway for the Spring 1988 Jean Louise Scherrer Haute Couture collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Jean Louise Scherrer.
• The set would have been completely made by hand in the Paris atelier.
• I love that we have reference photos so that you can see how phenomenal this is once it is on an actual body. As good as it looks in the photos, it is even better on.
• The silk it is made out of has a soft matte moire pattern finish to it and has just enough weight to hold the intended shape.
• The hand done workmanship on both pieces is phenomenal.
• The skirt is slim cut and on the shorter side. The fabric on it has been gathered up so that it has soft gathers near the top of the hip and the bottom hem at the front. At the back it is all gathered into the centre seam.
• The brevity of the skirt is in sharp contrast with the added volume and fit of the beautiful jacket that tops it.
• The jacket has a full built-in boned inner half corset tacked into the interior that zips in place around you. The outer jacket hooks into place over that with a series of hidden set corset hooks. 
  
• The neck line comes down in a wide squared off scoop that leaves the collar bones exposed and extends out almost to the shoulders.. 
• The edge of the neck line is finished with an elaborate ruffle in a matching silk. The ruffle continues down the front of the jacket and goes all the way around the hem. It is fitted through the waist and meant to have a slight feel of a peplum over the hips.
• The sleeves are incredible. Each is extremely full and they balloon out substantially over the gathered in ruffled cuffs. There is an exaggerated cuff at their ends with a bit of the same fabric wrapped and tied in knot just above the ruffle.
• Three large fabric roses are placed down the front for the perfect feminine and romantic finish.
• This would make an amazing going away suit or a suit to wear as part of your wedding weekend.
• Both pieces are fully lined in a handset pink silk. The skirt zips to close at the back and the jacket closes as described above. The pink is a slightly paler pink in person. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
• The jacket has its proper Haute Couture numbered tag in place.
• There is no size tag present since it is true couture so please go by the measurements listed below.

• Irish designer Sybil Connolly had her first major US fashion show in 1953. The American press dubbed her the 'Dublin's Dior'. Jacqueline Kennedy wore Connolly for her official White House portrait and Connolly was a particular favorite of Carmen Snow, the editor of Harper's Bazaar.
• It was made under the creative direction of Sybil Connolly
• The dress would've been made entirely by hand in her atelier in Ireland.
• In 1957 she launched her couture label. She created Haute Couture pieces made from Irish textiles and in particular she became famous for her distinctive use of  pleated handkerchief linen.
• This excerpt from the FDIM Museum explains Sybil Connolly's techniques: "Sybil Connolly's trademark gowns required a tremendous amount of fabric. To construct one pleated evening dress required between 72 and 90 yards of Irish handkerchief linen. After undergoing a secret pleating process, this initial yardage became 7 to 10 yards of slightly irregular, narrow linen pleats. Like the early 20th century designer Mario Fortuny, Sybil Connolly was very protective of her pleating process, swearing that it was a secret she would "carry to the grave." In her designs, Connolly usually oriented the pleats horizontally, covering the seams with self-fabric cording. The cords also lengthen the overall line of the garment, providing a counterbalance to the horizontal pleats. As Connolly tended towards solid colors, the stiff cording also provides a necessary visual contrast to the soft linen pleats."
• She worked directly with the cloth on a model and rarely sketched beforehand.
  
•  I found a quote that referred to the Irish linen she used to be 'of a quality so fine it was almost chiffon-like in weight' and that description is very accurate.
• The dress has a fairly simple line so that the pleating technique takes centre stage. The bodice is strapless and fitted and the pleated linen runs horizontally across the dress.
• The waist cinches in under that for shape and has a wide attached band done in a matching pale purple silk for added detailing.
• The skirt billows out from there and is very full. To help create the volume that you see the skirt has been set in and around the waist in soft cleats that open up into the fullness that you see as it falls to the floor. An incredible amount of fabric would have been used to create the skirt. 
  
• The dress comes with its original matching shawl. This is cut into a simple triangle with loops set just inside the outer edges to slip your arms through and hold it in place.
• This is a wonderful and very rare example of her work. Most pieces are held in museums.
• The gown is fully lined in an ivory silk and boned through the bodice. It closes with a back zipper on the inner corset and then a second zipper closes over that on the outer layer of the dress. There are areas throughout where the fabric has  softly faded. There are also areas where the it has slightly discoloured. Please see the photos after the label shot.
• There is no size tag present because it is Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.

• This is an absolutely fantastic and ultra rare piece from the Spring 1993 Versace collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Gianni Versace.
• Similar pieces was seen on the runway worn by Linda Evangelista, versions were shot for Italian Vogue and used for various editorials that season.
• This collection was an homage to South Beach, a place that Gianni absolutely loved. In 1991 he bought Casa Casuarina, a mansion on Ocean Drive. Two years and $30 million later it was a lavish palazzo. But before that completed, he created this spring 1993 show as a love letter to South Beach. Little Havana was referenced in the amazing bell bottom pieces and floral printed silks, both of which are found on this jumpsuit. 
• The jumpsuit is made out of a black and white floral printed silk that has a beautifully soft finish to it which makes it very comfortable and easy to wear once on the body.
• A wide 5" band of the floral printed silk is mixed with a second ruffle made out of a black and white dotted silk. This gorgeous double layer of ruffles circles around the shoulders with a silk covered elastic band that lets it sit perfectly in place on you. I I love the bare expanse of skin this leaves showing across the top of the shoulders. As good as it looks on the dress form it will be even better once it is on a body.
• The body of the jumpsuit skims over you and its cut is shaped to follow your curves. Depending on your preference and size, it can be worn super fitted or have more of a skimming feel over you.
• All of the shape over the bust, waist and hips is created by long vertical seaming. The waist curves to come in for shape and then the silk curves back out over the hips.
• The pants are phenomenal. Each one has a fairly straight leg to about the knee. At that point there is a curving seam that wraps around the waist and into that the bottom of the pant leg has been added. The fabric is done in an extra full flare to create that fantastic bell bottom that you see. It is made out of two layers of silk. There is an inner dotted layer that extends out past the hem and then the floral printed layer over that. When you lay it out each bell bottom is a full 52" all the way around. I love how the dotted fabric peeks out from below the hem and ties the dotted fabric on the ruffle around the shoulders together perfectly.
• The extreme bell shape of the lower pant legs creates phenomenal movement when you move but because the silk fabric is so light and fine they have the perfect amount of fullness when you stand still.
• The jumpsuit is unlined and closes with a back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• After much research I believe this to be from the Spring 1979 Chloe collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld. 
• In this collection he moved away from 1940s as his inspiration into the sex appeal of the 1950s, said the book 'Chloe Catwalk'. The silhouettes were based on the hourglass. In that same book there was a very similar floral patterns shown I have included several photos here for you.
• Hand placed gathering emphasizes the hips for many of the pieces in this collection, along with extra emphasis on the waist. Lagerfeld said of the collection to the press "Frivolity is important. I want shape and sensualness."
• The dress is made from one of his signature feather light silks being used during this time period for Chloe. It is screened with a custom print that mixes an ivory, more pastel coral colour and a pale lavender.
• An interesting detail is that the labels are on the side of the dress that I think is the front. The side that has the deep plunge is longer in length at the hem so I believe that should be the back. I have seen other dresses with this label placement from around this time period and when the back is plunged like this, so it is not unusual to see. I have photoed it both ways for you, with the plunge at the back and the front. You could potentially wear the plunge at the front if you don't mind the longer hem at the front much like that Lacroix dress from me that was worn to the Met Gala a couple years ago when they turned it around backwards.
• The sleeves are long and it skims over the bust to the waist. The back plunges into a low V to just above the waist. As mentioned above, it is possible that you could wear it either way around. It is incredibly sexy worn either way.
• The waist is seamed and the dress comes with its original striped screened silk belt that hooks into place around you. The stripes on the belt pick up the stripes that are on the end of each sleeve and circle around the hem.
• The skirt curves over the hips and there is a gathering of the silk for added shape. It falls to the floor with the back cut longer then the front for a slight trained effect. You get the most fantastic movement as you walk.
• The dress is in its original uncut length and is unlined. It closes with a back hand set zipper. Hand finishes throughout. There is a tiny bit of fading at the top of the shoulders and edges of the hems. The entire dress looks to be hand dyed and or screened and it presents perfectly once on as this becomes part of the uniqueness of the pattern. The belt hooks to close.

• The twin of this dress walked the Chanel 2010 Cruise runway for Look 33 with a jacket over it that was later sold separately in the shops.
• It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
• The show was set on the boardwalk of the Venice Lido at dusk. "Coco at Lido" is how Karl Lagerfeld described this cruise collection. Vogue described the scene as Karl "reinstating the long-lost leisurely sensation of a fashion show as an exceptional one-off experience. The 350 guests reclining on sun beds in the famous white tented cabanas certainly felt privileged to be witnessing the extreme glamour of the designer's learned-but-light invocation of an important part of Coco Chanel's biography." The location was "one of Coco Chanel's favourite summer haunts—she visited Venice for almost ten years beginning in 1919 and met Diaghilev here".
• The inspiration behind much of the show was the twenties and thirties and you can see that in the lines of this dress.
• The dress is made out of a feather light ultra fine silk chiffon whose weave gives it the feel of a fine netting or mesh. These amazing fabric innovations were a keystone that you see in Karl's work. 
• The silk is covered in a beautiful oversized floral print in dusky pastels done in a way that makes then look like they have been hand painted directly onto the fabric. The base colour is a deep blue-purple and the colour combination of everything together is stunning.
• It is sleeveless and the very upper portion of the bodice around the shoulders is a single layer of the silk so that it has a touch of transparency. Just above the bust it becomes a double layer so it can be worn, It is cut to skim over the bodice down to the waist. An attached panel of the same fabric goes around your waist and hooks into place at the back for added shape and subtle detailing.
• The dress falls from there in a swoop of that feather light silk to the hem that widens out as it near the floor. The back feels slightly fuller than the front so you get this pretty billowing effect around you when you walk. This is a signature Karl silhouette to give the dress as much movement as possible.
• The famous double C logo is worked throughout the floral print of the dress making it impossible to not know that you are wearing Chanel. 
• The dress is lined with the same fabric through the bodice and the skirt is lined with a layer of a deep blue silk. It closes at the back with a hidden set zipper and has a hook and eye at the back of the neck with a keyhole between the two. The dress appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This is a modern Valentino was made in homage to the very famous Valentino dress that walked the runway for Fall 2004. 
• This version was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli and the original 2004 version under Mr. Valentino
• The dress is strapless and made out of a red silk in the signature Valentino red.
• The dress is made out of long set vertical panels that run from the top of the bodice all the way to the hem. At the front the silk is gathered into both sides of the middle panel. The dress is shaped around the body by manipulating the width of the panels.
• One of the key signatures of this dress are the two large silk flowers in a marching red silk that sit on either side of the hip. On the original dress these top pockets are very shallow. The ones on this dress are slightly deeper so that you can slip your hands into.
• As the dress near the lower skirt the panels widen quite a bit to create that gorgeous flare that you see. Triangle shaped silk panels have been added on each side and all the way around the back of the skirt. This is what allows the skirt to flare out and sit in those exaggerated folds so beautifully that you see in the photos. They also allow a really beautiful and dramatic movement when you walk.
• The dress is fully lined in a red silk with an inner built-in lightly boned corset piece that zips on its own. The dress zips to close over that with a hidden set zipper that follows one of the back side seams. There is a teeny bit of stress along a back seam and a pinhead hole at the front. Please see the photos after the label shot.

• This beautiful dress is from the Spring 2018 collection and it was made on a limited production.
• The dress was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli.
• Its twin was worn by Imogen Poots and also by a guest at the Couture collection that season. We have included reference photos for you to see how gorgeous this is once on the body.
• The dress is made out of a black tulle that sits over an inner black silk chiffon base. The netting has gold metallic embroidered thread applied in long stripes over the dress. Hand Zone onto the gold thread are tiny little sequins in a rainbow of colours. This creates an incredible subtle burst of colour across the entire dress.
• The netting on the bodice crosses over itself at both the back and front to create that pretty neckline that sits wide across to the shoulders.
• The little cap sleeves are very full with elastic and a ruffle at their ends. You can see in the reference photos that the sleeves can be worn on or off the shoulders and it dramatically changes the look of the dress. I love this extra versatility that this gives the dress.
• The skirt is very full and explodes outwards from the waist. All of the volume you see is created by multiple layers of netting and silk stacked over each other in layers. I have not added any extra crinolines underneath for the shots.
• Pretty velvet ties fall from each shoulder and they are set in a bow at the top of the shoulder for the perfect dreamy finish.
• The dress is fully lined in black silk and closes with a hidden set side zipper. It appears to have never been worn.

• This is a phenomenal dress that we believe dates to the early to mid 1980s.
• It was made under the creative direction of Thierry Mugler.
• Mugler was a masterpiece of draping and cut and this is a fantastic example of that. It is cut with Mugler's masterful eye and attention to detail.
• It is made out of a black silk chiffon that sits over an inner structured and boned bodice. The dress under that is a play on transparency. The way the silk is draped in parts make some of it less transparent. The silk is gathered and placed to wrap around the body and emphasizes your curves.
• A panel of fabric extends up to create a single strap that wraps and hooks into place around the neck. A little half bow extends out to sit at the top of your back shoulder. The strap extends across the back on an angle to leave the rest of your back bare.
• The panels drapes upwards on one side and other panels extends down to wrap around the hips. Panels are caught up at the back of the waist to leave ties hanging down the side, picking up on the tie at the top of the shoulder. The body of the dress extends down to just above the knee, depending on your height. A single layer of bias cut silk chiffon is set in under that to create the lower skirt. It falls to the floor in a sweep of chiffon and adds incredible movement as you move.
• The bodice has a built in corset that closes with a series of hooks and then there is a zipper set under that. There is a layer of chiffon through the body of the dress. The neck strap snaps into place with hidden set snaps.

• The twin of the dress walk the runway for the Fall 1986 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
  
• On the runway it was shown in both this colour and also in a red. 
• The dress is constructed in a way that creates its unusual gathered velvet technique. It is also what gives it an amazing tactile feel when its touched.
• The colour of the velvet is a beautiful deep purple that in certain lights has a touch of a blue undertone. I love that.
• The dress is strapless with inner built in structure to help hold it in place once one the body. The back part of the bodice has a built-in elastic so the dress is easy to fit. It curves down and past the waist with no seam to break the eye. From there it curves back out and over the hips in a sleek pencil silhouette.
• The dress closes with a zipper that is set off to the side to follow a seam at the back. The inner bodice area is lined in a blue silk and the rest of the dress is unlined. An inner waist stay that hooks to close. You can clearly see the hand stitching on the back of the fabric done to create the pattern on the velvet.

• This dress is from the Spring 2005 Cavalli collection
• It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli
• For that season Cavalli based everything shown on the 'Fashion Traveller' Theme and Vogue proclaimed that to mean "an eclectic throwing-together of hippie-ish trailing print skirts, ruffled cavalier shirts (worn belted at the hip as tantalizing dresses), and nineteenth century Sgt. Pepper-ish frogged military jackets."
• The dress is made of a black bias cut silk that is covered with a gold tone print. The print depicts golden feathers that curve heavily down and over the bodice and then gradually just become the gold parts that trail down and over the skirt.
• The feather print is very detailed and quite beautiful. I love how the pattern is set to accentuate the curves of the body underneath the dress and build on the cut of the dress itself.
• The dress is suspended from two tiny straps in the same silk that curved up and over the shoulders. At the back they cross over each other. The entire upper back is left bare and exposed behind the crossing of the straps and the front comes down in a wide V.
• The dress curves in at the waist with long curving vertical seams and then curves back out over the hips. Everything is cut on the bias and there are no horizontal seems to break the print or lines of the dress.
• The lower skirt flares out with quite a bit of fabric used for its construction. There are extra triangular panels built-in around the sides and back. These are what give the fullness to the lower skirt that you see and create its sweep. The back skirt is cut a little longer than the front so that you have a beautiful bit of fabric behind you as you move. The extra fabric also gives you wonderful movement as you walk. 
• The dress is unlined and closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This is the all black version of the Spring 2006 pink floral dress from the same collection that we currently have in the shop.
• It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli
• The twin of the pink version of this dress was worn by Noemie Lenoir in 2006 and we have included those reference photos in this listing because even though it is a different colour it still shows you just how phenomenal this is once on the body.
• The dress is made from a black silk feeling jersey that is draped over an inner black body suit that gives you the perfect amount of inner structure and holds the dress perfectly in place.
• That inner corset is lightly boned through the front and the bust area is shaped with inner padding and wire. The jersey on the exterior is draped into place over that and gathered over towards one side. At the base of where it gathers there is a decorative panel that has a tie running through it and little gold metal loops. You could use the ties to wrap around the waist or just let it hang down over the hip as I have done for these photos. 
  
• A single layer of the jersey drapes down from there to form the skirt. The skirt is incredible. It falls to extend down long and dramatically on one side so you get a sweeping feel around you as you move. On the other side there is an inset triangle made out of a black chiffon that gives you the very slightest bit of transparency on that side. 
• If you loved the dress in the flower print but are not a flower kind of girl. This is the version for you.
• The inner black bodysuit is shaped and made of a stretched lingerie netting to give you support and shape. It zippers to close at its side and then hooks to close at the bottom. The dress closes over that at the side with a hidden set zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
• There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

• This dress is from the Spring 2006 Cavalli collection and from what we understand it is a special edition piece that was released on a very limited basis.
• It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli.
• Its twin was worn by Christina Aguilera to the 2006 Grammys and I love that this lets you see how beautiful it is once it is on the body.
• The dress made of a beautiful bias cut ivory silk that has the feel and look of the very best of pieces from the 1930s in 1940s.
• Two wide straps curved down from the shoulder and create a deep front plunge. At the base of the plunge the fabric is twisted and brought down and under the bust. The panels over the bodice have a halter top feel to them that again picks up on the pieces from the 30s and 40s. It skims over the waist and then curves back out over the hips.
• As the skirt falls to the floor, long vertical seaming curves it back in under the hips and then it flares out beautifully all the way around the hem. The extra amount of silk used for the lower skirts gives it beautiful movement as you walk.
• The back is spectacular. Almost the entire back is left bare and exposed. The front panels extend into straps that run down each side of the back and connect into a panel that comes across the mid-back. From the top of the shoulder down to where it connects, the straps have been heavily detailed and covered  with crystal rhinestones and beads. It hooks across the middle of your back and this creates a round circle that is completely bare. The entire circle and the panels above have more hand applied glass crystal rhinestones and silver tube beads. I have shown the back hooked in place for all of the shots, however if you needed a bit of extra room, or wanted to be more daring, you can also wear the back unhooked and then it just falls with a more open back edged with all the crystals and beads following the curved line that it creates.
• The dress is unlined and hooks to close at the back. It very much has the feel of a lingerie piece. I see some small, very minor scuffs on the silk here and there, and there are perhaps a couple of beads missing here and there. Very minor but mentioned for accuracy. Please see the photos after the label shot.
• There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

• The twin of this dress was Look 27 on the Spring 2011 Prada runway.
• It was made under the creative direction of Miuccia  Prada
• On the runway was the first of three variations of dresses that featured extensive and whimsical embroidery over them along with the beadwork around the hem.
• The dress was an instant hit. You saw it in editorials, on celebrities and it was used in the ad campaign that season. It is also featured in the book Prada:Catwalk. This dress is noted in particular in that book where it says "a beachy feel came through in those prints again, and in Mexican embroideries across the front of a white sundress. There were shades of Josephine Baker also here, emphasize by the model slick pin curled hair – just the lightest touch of history in case anyone might forget where they were and the deep understanding of culture that entailed. Bar the furs and jangling plastic beads at hems, the clothes in this collection were entirely made from a cotton – sensible, hearty, humble. The collection was extraordinarily bold: an immaculately executed fashion statement that couldn't have been more confident, clear or right for its time." Miuccia herself called it "minimal baroque".
• This is a fantastically rare dress and it is exceptional and important part of Prada's history.
• The dress is made of a crisp white cotton. Onto that is a heavy finish of embroidery to create that print that you see going across the dress is all the way around the dress.
• It is suspended from the shoulders by straps made of the same white fabric and the dress itself is the simplest of cuts. The front has darts to create a bit of shape around the breast and then it has a touch of a barrel shape through the body. The waist and hips curve outwards and then the hem comes in slightly.
• The back dips down for an expanse of bare skin to show.
• A dancer is in full stride with a huge headdress and skirt are a nod to the great Josephine Baker.
• Bright bold colours swirl across you and around to the back of the dress and the embroidery work is fantastic to see. It has a slight 3D texture as it sits slightly up and off the dress.
• The hem of the dress is equally as fantastic and has a finish of braided silk cord and large beads that dangle and jangle all the way around the hem.
• The dress is fully lined in a white silk and has an offset hidden zipper at the back. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. The open cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes. It will just fit more over-sized on a smaller frame.

• This is a rare and early example of Galliano's work from the Fall 1999 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• We have included several runway shots that we found that show the same fabric as it was seen on the runway.
• The dress is ultra soft to touch. It is made from a deep creamy ivory and then onto that are tiny little black bows made out of yarn. They form a grid in their centres as they weave through the underlying ivory and then the ends are allowed to extend out on both side sides. This is what forms the bow and also gives it the 3D feel as each end sits up and off of the fabric.
• The dress is done in a simple shift feel with no sleeves and an easy to wear cut. Long vertical seams curve over you to add shape. The bust is simple and set to curve over you. The waist is shaped to come in slightly. From there it curves back out over the hips. 
• The skirt is a simple slim pencil shape that comes in very slightly at the hem. At the back, extra fabric is hidden inside of an inverted vent. The fabric is pleated on both sides, inside the vent, and this allows you to move and walk in the dress. It also gives you a little unexpected flare at the bottom of the back skirt while you are moving.
• It is the perfect minimalist 1990s piece with a Galliano twist.
• The dress is lined in an ivory silk with hand finishes around the neck and arms. It closes with a hidden set side zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of the dress was presented as Look 20 in the Spring 2021 Rodarte collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Kate and Laura Mulleavy.
• “Everything we do is about fantasy and dreams, but we are located in a moment, and we are a part of what is happening now,” said Kate. A fanciful gown, both designers agree, has little place in today’s world, so instead they channeled their efforts into clothing they would want to wear now “without distilling the ideas".... Vogue continued their review by noting that the floral story continues in the 1940s dresses they played with last season, now relaxed in shape with prints that radiate from the navel or appear in handkerchief-like grids.
• Its twin was worn by Kourtney Kyung Smith and Anya Taylor Joy also wore one to the Venice Film Festival that year. Liz Gillies wore one while in character for Dynasty. 
• The dress is absolutely exquisite and really showcases the charm that the Rodarte collections have and why people love collecting them.
• With its pretty combination of white, pink and red this might also make a fantastic dress for a bride for one of her events around her ceremony.
• The dress is made out of the perfect white and pink bias cut silk that is a beautifully light in weight. It is very soft and supple and the bias cut lets it glide over your curves once it is on. 
• Onto the white and pink base is a gorgeous print that features tiny pink flowers ad black bows nestled among green leaves and dots. These are set in large medallions that cover the entire dress.
• Tiny black silk straps curve up and over the shoulders. The front dips into a shallow V and the back also dips into a V that is set lower for a bare expanse of skin to show above.
• The bias cut lets the dress skim over your bust, waist and hips to fall to the floor. It flares out prettily at the hem and this give it beautiful movement when you walk.
  
• A little silk flower in a pretty pink sits at the base of the V of the front. The flower is detachable so you can move it to where it sits on you best.
• The dress is unlined and slips on to wear with no closures. The flower pins into place and is also labelled at the back. The dress is in its original uncut length. I see a tiny bit of grubbiness near the hem in a tiny hole near the seam at the back of the hem. It doesn't look like the dress was ever worn otherwise so this is probably from improper storage. Please see the photo after the label shot. The bias cut allows for some give so I have put the comfortable range while lying flat below. The length may come up a bit because of the bias cut once it is on the body.

• The skirt dates to the 1960s and is from Scassi's main label
• It was made under the creative direction of Arnold Scaasi
• Scaasi was born Arnold Isaacs in Montreal and the name Scassi is simply his own surname in reverse. He apprenticed at the house of Paquin and then worked with the legendary Charles James. In 1964 he opened own couture salon. He dressed Hollywood stars like Lauren Bacall, Diahann Carroll and Elizabeth Taylor along with  several first ladies. He even once bragged that he refused to give Jackie Kennedy clothes for free. He was the man behind the scandalous 1969 Barbra Streisand sheer trouser outfit that she collected her Oscar in, and he was presented with the Council of Fashion Designers of America Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. In 2010, The Boston Museum of Fine Arts, who hold the bulk of his archives, launched an exhibit of his work titled "Arnold Scaasi: American Couturier"
• Pieces from his main label were made to order and done to demi and couture standards. 
• There are certain pieces that you come across that seem to go beyond just a piece of clothing and start to belong to the category of being a piece of art. This skirt qualifies. It is one of the most unusual and exceptional pieces I have seen.
• It is almost camp in feel and yet it has an incredible craftsmanship at the same time.
• It is made from looped tufts of wool in a pink, coral, deep burgundy and pale purple, that are independently attach by embroidery to a silk ribbon background. That silk ribbon is then sewed together and stacked row by row with a tiny gap left between each row. This creates this amazing sub-texture underneath the yarn.
• The yarn detailing is set horizontally and they puff out from the skirt so that it has a 3D feel.
• At the waist is a wide red grosgrain ribbon that sits in a bow at one side.
• Under the nipped in waist the skirt falls on an angle to widen out quite a bit by the time it reaches the hem. It somehow manages to stay both soft and feel structured at the same time.
• It is not unwieldy to wear but it does have the feel of substance. 
• Inside it is hand lined in a fine red silk.
• Fully lined by hand in a fine red silk and closes at the back with a zipper and then hook and eye at the banded waist. All the work is done by hand and all of the yarn has been done by hand and applied to the silk ribbon behind it.

• This is a phenomenal dress in a floral print version of various versions that walked the runway for the Spring 1980 YSL show.
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
• The dress is made out of what feels like a feather light cotton / silk mix. This fabric choice holds the colours beautifully. 
• The neckline is set wide across so that it sits at the edges of the shoulders. If you are not very broad across the shoulders you may be able to wear it fully off the shoulder but for most I think it will sit at the edges of the shoulder like you see on the dress form here. A wide 7" ruffle follows the entire neckline and gives it the prettiest flounce all the way around you.
• Under that the bodice skims down to a low dropped waist that is cut more generously through the middle. I have taken a photo without the belt so you can see how it is cut generously through the body. The dress comes with its matching tie belt that you can cinch in the waist as much as needed.
• The skirt is set into a slightly angled seam around the waist that comes up into a peak at one side. Tiny gathers are set in all along that seam and this is what gives the skirt its incredible volume.
• The skirt falls shorter at the side to match the peak of the seam of the skirt. As it circles around the back it gets longer. If you were to lay this out and open the skirt it is more than a full circle around. That volume combined with the lightness of the fabric gives you incredible movement when you move.
• This is an absolutely stunning example of his work during this time period and this particular cut of dress is one of my favourites from him. I have had it in several colours and patterns now and this is one of the prettiest I have had.
• The dress is unlined and closes with a side set zipper. The tie belt is original to the dress.

• This dress has been dated by the one that is its twin and was part of the 2014 exhibit 'Chicago Styled'.
• It was made under the creative direction of Thierry Mugler.
• The dress is made out of a light in weight metallic gold fabric that drapes beautifully and is perhaps a touch paler gold than how it photoed here.
• The dress is cut with Mugler's masterful eye and attention to detail.
• It drapes up and over the shoulders with wide panels of the gold. On one side the fabric is heavily gathered and hooks in at the waist underneath. On the other side the dress comes out from under that and is not as gathered so that it falls more down and over the top of the shoulder.
• The side with the wider shoulder is set into a panel that runs down the opposite side of the dress.
• This panel is finished with gold studs and this is where the dress closes. The panel runs all the way down the side to where it splits for the hem. There is even a weight added inside the base of the panel to hold the dress perfectly in place.
• The body of the dress is all gathered into that side panel. It wraps around you and then is gathered into the panel at the back. This creates incredible draping down the body and around you.
• The vertical side panel draws the dress up a few inches above the hem and this then creates a bit of an angled curve along the lower hem of the dress that beautifully picks up the angles on the bodice.
• This is a spectacular and very rare example of his work.
• The dress snaps to close where you see the studs at the side and underneath that there is a hidden set zipper. A grosgrain ribbon wraps around the waist and is attached to the part of the bodice that tucks underneath the crossing over at the front to hook to close inside the dress. It is very cleverly put together. 
• I love how the entire dress shimmers in the light because of the gold metallic fabric.
• The dress is partially lined through the bodice and fully lined through the skirt. There are little padding shells set through the inner shoulders but it feels like their inner padding has been removed at some point. It would be easy to add padding back in if you preferred a stronger shoulder.
• There is no size tag present so please go by the listed measurements below.

I see some tiny and very minor snags on the skirt here and there. There is so much fabric you would never see them once this is one but they are mentioned for accuracy.

• The dress is from the Spring 2010 wedding dress collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• The twin of the dress was used for the ad campaign that season.
• The gown is made out of a pale ivory that combines silk organza and silk chiffon with a silk netting. The colour is very soft and flattering. The fabric itself is very light in weight and it is only the tremendous amount of fabric in the dress that adds any weight. The lightness of all of those layers allow it to move beautifully around you once on. 
  
• The bodice is strapless with a slight curve over the bust. A pretty double layer ruffle made of silk chiffon starts at the very top and then layers of ruffles continue all the way down the entire dress. Inside the bodice there is a full built-in cupped, wired and lightly boned stretch corset to hold everything in place.
• The layers run horizontally over the bust and waist in beautiful bands of silk chiffon that all overlap each other. The edges of each band are left raw so that it adds a touch of texture. It continues down and around the waist. By the top of the hip panels of silk organza that are caught wider start to be interest first in to the bands.
• The ruffles of the skirt start all the way up at the top of the hip and they continue down horizontally all the way to the hem. As you get lower down the skirt, the bands become wider and they start to mix a silk chiffon with a silk organza. This widening of the ruffles coincides with the widening of the lower skirt.
• I love how the volume increases as you go down the dress to give the lower skirts their massive volume and pretty romantic sweep.
• For the very lowest ruffles there is a white netting done in ruffles underneath circling the very bottom hem. Inside there are wide, weighted hymns with stiffening and this is all a clever way to help. Hold the shape around you when you stand and move.
• The back and sides extend out longer than the front so that the entire dress sweeps around and behind you beautifully.
• As beautiful as it looks in the photos this is a dress that is even better in person once moving and on an actual body.
• I love that they have made the little straps that you hang the dress on a hanger with out of a wite ribbon with the ODLR in a beautiful soft pale blue that instantly gives you a "something blue" already built into the dress.
• There is a full built-in corset that zips with its own zipper and has a inner waist stay that hooks to close. The dress is lined in a silk under that and there is an inner skirt supporting the volume of the skirt. The inner layer of the skirt is finished with stiffening around its hem to help hold the shape and volume. It closes with a back hidden set zipper. I see a bit of grubbiness along the very edge of the inner hem here and there. I think that is just from hitting the floor as it was hung in the past. It is very minor but mentioned for accuracy.The colour is slightly more ivory in person.

• The near twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 2005 show for Look 82 and was worn by Erin Wasson. 
• It was made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino.
• Vogue said of the collection that "Valentino's couture touch brought exquisite workmanship to filmy lace blouses and brocade jackets as well as evening gowns that captured the seasons passion for Victorian and Edwardian effects." They went on to mention the feel of this gown specifically saying "courtly evening gowns had trains, composed of tiers of ruffles."
• On the runway they showed the dress with the ruffles backed in a silk taffeta in what looks to be a more coral red. When the dress was produced for shops this version has a pink behind the bows and it is lined in pink for just a hint of colour. The silk ruffles cascading down dress have no lining in a different colour. I think the dress is more striking this way. It is not so busy as how it looks and was presented on the runway.
• The dress is absolutely spectacular and showcases what made these original Valentino pieces so special under Mr. Valentino's direction.
• The dress is strapless and curves across you at the front and is fitted around the bust. Inside there is a built-in corset that is lightly boned to keep the dress perfectly in place.
• From there it is shaped so that comes in at the waist without any seams to break the eye. It curves back out to glide over the hips.
• The skirt widens out to be very full by the time it reaches the hem. The back of the skirt is cut longer than the front so that you get a beautiful sweeping feel behind you.
• Beginning just under the bust is the first ruffle. It is 7.5" wide and is set to curve down and around you before dipping lower at the back for a very pretty line. And its long longest point in the back it extends to 12". A bow in a matching silk sits at the top centre of the front and this is backed in a pink silk for a tiny touch of colour.
• The second ruffle begins just under the waist and this one follows that same beautiful curve around you. It dips lower and longer at the back to a full 21" at its longest point. This ruffle is also topped by a pretty black and pink silk bow at the front.
• Each of the tiers is gathered in lightly along where they are set into the dress so that they have lots of volume and movement. Under the last ruffle the entire lower skirt at the back widens out substantially and trails behind you in a swooping train. Under the skirt is a pink silk organza lining that is finished with a pink edging made of the same pink silk that the bows are backed with. When you move and your legs kick the dress outward you get a little hint of the pink and it all perfectly ties in with the pink of the bows.
• This is a truly spectacular dress and one that you will not see come around very often if ever again. 
• The dress has a built-in black silk corset that is lightly boned and zips with its own zipper. The dress closes with a hidden set zipper over that. Where the ruffle goes over the zipper, there is a series of hidden snaps to fully close the ruffle over the zipper so that it is all hidden. The skirt is lined in pink organza as described a book. The dress appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2016 runway for Look 34. 
• It was made under the creative direction of Sarah Burton.
• Vogue declared that it was the prettiest and most personal collection since she took over as the Creative Director at McQueen. Sarah declared that she wanted the collection to be "believable, touchable, soft.". Vogue's review noted that "The beautiful dresses speak for themselves. Everything about them in times when every camera phone has a zoom lens and can be examined in all their extraordinary detail, down to the finest stitches and the Couture level embroidery. 
• This was one of the series of lace pieces in the show and I love the contrasting black-and-white lace used for the dress and how it is all set on a nude netting.
• On the runway the front buttons were left open above and below a single closed button at the centre. A jewelled body harness was worn underneath and over the dress for added detail and it was styled over pants, showing how you are able to style this in many ways. 
• The dress is set high around the neck with cut outs between the straps that wrap around the neck and the ones curving over each shoulder. The front lace inset is a deep white ivory and it closes with black silk covered buttons that are all functional. Black lace panels wrap around you to the back.
• At the back you see the same combination of the white lace running down the centre of the dress and the black around the sides. Here there are deep open cut outs on either side of the white lace. There is another row of buttons there as well and these are also functional.
• Leaving buttons opened or fully close changes the look of the dress substantially.
• More buttons sit around the waist cut outs and you could in theory button them high and change how the dress sits. Leaving them open leaves the sides of your waist open and exposed.
• The skirt is absolutely magnificent. It is made out of layers of black lace set in overlapping ruffles. At the front there are two layers of ruffles and then the dress is quite open under that down the full front. We included a photo of an all white version of the dress from the runway so you can clearly see what length the front will fall once on the body.
• The skirt fall down from there on either side of you and curves around to the back. There are six layers of the ruffles and they are all set on a black lace backdrop. This gives the entire skirt a touch of transparency while at the same time the stacked ruffles play on that transparency. It is fantastically full by the bottom hem and you can see from the runway video how beautifully this moves. 
• This is an extraordinarily rare dress from the Sarah Burton era and it is absolutely exquisite in every way 
• The body of the dress is backed in a nude netting and the skirt is unlined. It buttons at both the front and back. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. If you wanted a more bare look you could wear boy shorts or a barer or more covered option underneath.

• When my client sold this to me I told me it was from 1978. We have not yet sourced a runway photo of it because these early collections were not always documented but if we do at some point we will forward that on to its new owner.
• It was made under the creative direction of Pierre Cardin.
• The dress would have been made completely by hand in the Paris atelier. 
  
• The dress is made out of a very high-quality black silk chiffon that is feather light in weight. It gives the dress phenomenal movement around you once on the body.
• This is a fantastic and surprisingly avant garde Haute Couture dress by Pierre Cardin that shows the breadth and depth of his talent. From a historical perspective it is also an interesting insight on the volume and play on proportion being done during this time period.
• The design is simple and has a minimalist feel but is still striking and dramatic. It is really a piece that will only truly come to life once on so is a bit of what I like to call a 'trust me' dress because you have to trust a bit on how phenomenal it will be.
• The neckline is squared off right to the outer edges of the shoulder on both the back in the front. The back dips down a little bit lower for more skin to show. I think that you might be able to also wear this fully off the shoulders if you wished.
• Inside there is a little strapless soft cupped bra made out of lingerie nude netting. 
• The silk falls from the shoulders and skims over the inner bra, flows generously past the waist and hips and then it widens out a touch more as it nears the floor.
• Under the top layer of black silk chiffon there is a layer of a dark brown silk chiffon. This keeps the dress from being too transparent and at the same time it creates the illusion that the dress has more transparency than it actually does as the two colours play against each other. 
  
• The sleeves are phenomenal. They are cut on a curve and are gathered into a piped wrist finished with a little bow, made of the same piping. Once on they pouf and balloon out fantastically above your wrists. They are one of the most exaggerated balloon sleeves that I have ever actually seen on a dress but in the best possible way. On my dress form they appear to hang very long and low but once on and held in place by your wrists they sit properly and billow out around the arm. They are quite brilliant.
• It is an incredible dress and like many of his pieces it truly will only come to life once there is a body in it.
• It is remarkable piece of true couture and a true piece of fashion history.
• The dress is fully lined with a layer of dark brown silk chiffon. It slips on to wear and the inner bra hooks to close. You could adjust the fit a bit by replacing that inner bra with one fitted to you and I have included the measurements of the outer dress for you as well as the inner bra.
• The dress has no size tag since it is couture so please go by the measurements below.

• Several versions of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1980 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
• This dress and the various prints it was made in were integral to that season's collection. Once these went to the shops many were produced with the front skirt made a little longer. Variations were photoed for editorials and pieces were included in the labels ad campaign that year.
• The dress is made out of a feather light red silk organza that has a beautiful white curving print that runs over the entire dress from top to bottom. The red is a beautiful clear deep colour that flatters more skin tones.
• The neck line is set wide across so you can wear it off of the shoulder for a bare expanse of skin to show. A wide 8" ruffle follows the entire neckline and gives the prettiest flounce all the way around you.
• Under that the bodice skims down to a low dropped waist that is cut more generously through the middle. The dress comes with its matching silk tie belt that you can cinch in the waist as much as needed. The belt is tacked lightly in place and knotted at the moment but it could easily be untacked and used as a proper belt to tie all the way around you. 
• The skirt is set into a slightly angled seam around the waist that comes up slightly at one side. Tiny gathered pleats are set in all along the seam and that is what gives the skirt its incredible volume.
• The skirt falls shorter at the front and longer at the back. If you were to lay this out and open the skirt it is more than a full circle around. That volume combined with the lightness of the fabric gives you incredible movement when you move.
• This is an absolutely stunning example of his work during this time period and one of my favourite pieces I have ever had in by him.
• It is exceptionally rare to find this dress in this runway print.
• The bodice of the dress is lined in a silk chiffon. At some point someone added a second layer of silk chiffon that skims over the inner body to just past the inner hip to make it more opaque. I have left it as is because it does make the dress easier to wear but it could be removed very easily. It closes with a side set zipper and the tie belt is original to the dress.

• This is an exceptionally beautiful Jean Patou silk chiffon dress that is an absolute masterpiece. It is an important and early representation of both the house of Patou and the level of Haute Couture being produced during this time period. 
  
• Jean Patou once said "Certain dressmakers desire to pass for an artist. I have one ambition: that is to have good taste." and this dress is the very epitome of that statement.
• The dress is made entirely by hand and represents countless hours of dedicated hand work within the atelier. It is one of the most beautiful dresses that I have had come through my hands and the photos cannot begin to convey the detail and fine work that has gone into the creation of this piece.
• It is constructed from a fine black silk chiffon and the bust is fitted with a boned and shaped interior to hold the dress around you. The upper edge of the bust has a little silk chiffon ruffle that folds over for a pretty detail.
• It cinches in at the waist and the skirt flows down on a gentle curve. The waist seam curves upwards at the centre front and then curves downward towards the hip. The back seam continues curving downwards to to create a dip at the back.
• Under this the skirt falls in a cascade of silk chiffon tiered panels. There are three in total and each one overlaps the one underneath. Hidden in between the ruffles are panels of silk organza which helps to give the dress its volume. An extra panel sits under the very lowest tier. Inside the skirt is a layer of stiffened netting.
• The skirt follows the same curve the waist seam has with the front coming up a touch and the back sweeping out behind you.
• We have not added anything under the skirts. There is room to go fuller if you wanted to add a crinoline underneath you can go as full as you wish.
• A spray of pink silk flowers and black velvet leaves run down one side of the skirt.
• This is really an extraordinary piece of early golden era Haute Couture. Finished to Haute Couture standards and entirely done by hand.
• The bodice has a hand set silk lining and is boned. It closes with hand set back metal zipper. The skirt is lined as described above. I see some minor grubbiness around the hem of the interior lining. The tulle lining under the skirt is raw cut and there may be occasional little break near the hem here and there. There is light stress near the seams on the bodice around the waist area that indicate there was a belt or ribbon attached at some point. You could easily add a belt or ribbon and you would never see these. The flowers do not feel fresh. They are just tacked in place and they could be removed or replaced.

• The twin of this dress was the final look on the runway for the Pre-Fall 2015 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• Vogue noted in their review "Pre-Fall 2015 was the last collection he (Oscar de la Renta) had a hand in designing. The house's new creative director, Peter Copping, advised the studio a bit on how to finish it after de la Renta's death in October but this wasn't his debut. Copping sat in the front row taking it all in as a bystander." They continue the review saying, "How does one review a collection like this—one that operates not as a swan song, not as an homage, but as a coda to a great career, now definitively over? On its merits, of course. And though these clothes didn't serve to turn the fashion dial in any way, they manifested the soigné de la Renta signature in spades....It spoke loudest in the collection's clutch of cocktail frocks and gowns, particularly the champagne-toned finale gowns with allover gold or silver embellishment."
• This would make an amazing wedding dress for the bride looking for a non-traditional choice or as an alternative dress in a more extended wedding celebration.
• The dress is made from a fine ivory net that is covered in beautiful curving gold metallic appliques that form flowers and pretty patterns over the entire surface of the dress.
• Each individual applique is made from a pale, muted silver-gold lame fabric sewn that is embroidered all the way around its edges. The lame has a slight vertical ribbing that combines the gold and silver thread and this adds a beautiful texture. I love how they catch the light in a subtle way from every angle. In person the dress has a more metallic and gold feel then how it photographed here.
• It sits wide across the front and the straps are set to the edge of the shoulder. The bodice curves up and over your shoulders and then at the back it falls in a V for a bit of bare skin to show. All of the edges follow the curving pattern of the applique and I love this little romantic touch.
• There is an inner lining inside the bodice that has a sweetheart neckline shape to it and then the netting has a touch of transparency above that. It skims over you from there, past the waist to the seam that sits at the top of the hip.
• From there the skirt explodes outwards in two tiers. Underneath each tier is a layer of tulle and then another layer of netting under that. The second layer has a stiffened edge to help hold the shape of the skirting. Inside the skirt there is a built-in underskirt that has multiple rows of that same stiffened fabric so it holds the volume that you see in the photos. I have added no extra crinolines underneath the dress to take these photos. All of the volume that you see is all built into the dress already.
• The dress is cut shorter at the front and then the back is cut so that it trails out behind you past the floor. The lightness of the tulle and netting allows the dress to billow out around you when you walk.
• This is dress that feels like a fairy tale come true once it is on the body.
• The skirt is fully lined in layers of tulle and netting as described above. The bodice has an inner layer of silk and netting. The dress closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little.

• The fabric that the dresses made out of is a stunning pale nude ballet slipper pink that has a beautiful weight to it. This and the cut is what helps hold the draping perfectly in place.
• It has a very unusual design hidden from the outside. There is an inner bodice that one side of the outer dress hooks onto around the inner waist and then the other side drapes over that and hooks along the outer waist. This gives you coverage over the bust on the inside but still allows the bodice to feel so loosely draped around you and allows the plunge to be so low at the front while still feeling secure and covered underneath.
• The sleeves are incredible. They are extremely full and each is lined with a pale pink silk chiffon to help hold the added volume of them. I love the way they drop over the cuff at the wrist to form that gorgeous puff at their ends.
• The inner waist closure holds the dress in place around you and then the exterior silk drapes and skims past the waist and hips. The skirt flares out slightly as it nears the hem. The silk drapes over the waist for a bit of definition in shape, even though there is no actual seam there.
  
• The inner bodice zips at the front and then the dress hooks to close around it. The rest of the dress is unlined. I see one tiny faint mark along the edge of a fold of the top, some very minor faint marks at the hem and a tiny scratch in the fabric at the back hem. All very minor but mentioned for accuracy. Hand finishes. The colour is slightly more pastel soft pink than how it shot.
• The fit of the dress as it is currently is based almost completely on the measurements of the inner bodice piece but the outer dress is more generous. You could easily alter/add to the inner bodice to get more room if needed.

• I purchased this many years ago and was told this was a dress made under the creative direction of Olivier Theyskens.
• Theyskens debuted at Rochas in 2003 at the age of 25 and stayed at the brand until Spring 2015.
• The dress has a beautiful Victorian feel to it and the fabric is gorgeous. It is very light in weight and feels like a fine silk organza mix. Onto it is a stunning washed watercolour feeling floral print that covers the entire dress. It is very pretty.
• A pretty ruffle circles the collar and ruffles continue down the front on either side of the buttons. The bodice is detailed with stripes of black flat pile cotton velvet and the buttons are covered in that same fabric. The seams are exposed and deliberately top stitched with a embroidered feeling thread. The sleeves are long and each ends in a wide cuff that has a little bit of velvet detail.
• It skims over the bust and waist and is cut to be more full and easy through the body. The bodice extends down past the waist to a seam that sits on the top of the hip. The skirt is attached above the seam with an exposed serging all the way around you.
• The skirt falls from there to the floor and it is wonderfully full. It is gathered in around the seam at the hip and then opens out as it near the hem. The lower portion of the skirt is covered in the same detailing that we see on the bodice, combining the velvet ribbon, exposed seams and ruffles, but on the skirt it is flipped horizontally to wrap around you. Underneath the skirt is lined in a black woven netting that helps to hold the shape.
• It is beautifully detailed and the design is properly and carefully thought out and executed. Its loose easy cut through the body make it an easy to fit dress. I think you could even belt this to create a completely different feel to the dress and add more shape.
• They bodice is unlined and has a touch of transparency to it. The skirt is lined in black netting as described above. It closes at the front with the black velvet buttons. Each cuff closes with a series of five hidden hook and eye. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2008 Fendi runway for Look 19.
• It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
• This was a highly documented collection and this dress and versions of the dress especially were the outstanding pieces. On the runway it was shown with a belt that was sold separately in the shops. A version was included in the Met Museum's 2023 exhibition "A line of beauty". Its twin was used for the ad campaign that season and it, and a version of it, were used in editorials that year.
• The dress is very interesting in how it is made. There is a silk organza outer layer with its circular print on the skirt and more print on the sides of the bodice. Underneath that layer of the skirt is a second silk chiffon layer that has its own different print scattered all the way around the skirt so you get this diffused feel of the print underneath the top organza layer. It is very interesting.
• The dress is suspended by two tiny straps that curve over the shoulders and hook into the low waist at the back. This leaves the entire back bare and exposed.
• At the front, two triangles of fabric curve up to meet those straps and are plunged to the waist. A panel of printed silk has been set in behind those to provide some coverage and also add yet another design detail.
• The waist is defined by a wide band of the organza and then the two layers of the silk fall from there to make the skirt. Depending on your height this will fall mid-calf or slightly lower. The skirt has many yards of silk organza and silk chiffon underneath  that and it has the most incredible movement as a result. The lightness of both those fabrics allow it to pick up the slightest bit of air.
• The printed silk chiffon layer under the skirt acts as the lining and the bodice is backed in silk chiffon. It closes with a hidden set zipper at the back with two button buttons on the waistband. I see a couple of small marks. There are to faint dots underneath the band at the front to the side, a mark in the print of the skirt and another near the hem. All are fairly faint and because of the print and amount of fabric do not create a huge impact. Please see the photos after the label shot

• The twin of this dress was shown as Look 7 for the Fall 2024 atelier collection
• It was made under the creative direction of Prabal Gurung
• He told Vogue that "We've always had a small private client business". He had soft-launched his Aterlier collection the previous year to bring more clients pieces that are focused around specific occasions and more traditional silhouettes. The Fall 2024 collection was the first publicly shown Atelier collection from Prabal. 
• This is an absolutely beautiful dress that showcases his love of a more traditional silhouette. Even though it is a modern piece it has that perfect feel of the 1950s Hollywood Golden Era in its silhouette.
• The dress is made out of a pale nude net that has a touch of pink to it. Little black chenille dots are fused onto the fabric for the perfect little detailing.
• The bodice is strapless and I love the soft curve to the top edge. Inside there is a boned and cupped built in corset to hold you perfectly in place. It is fitted and the waist comes in and then curves back out slightly.
• The skirt is phenomenal. There is a little peplum of the tulle with netting underneath that sits just under at the waist and then it falls in two more tiers to the floor. The middle tier has a a double layer of tulle under it and then there are more built-in layers under the entire skirt.The innermost layer is a more stiffened net that has bands of stiffening placed horizontally around the hem and through the body of the skirt to hold its volume. I did not add any crinolines under the dress. All the volume you see is because of the built-in construction.
• The back of the skirt trails out slightly behind you and is cut longer than the front.
• The fabric used is still very light so even with the intricate construction of the dress is still feels light and comfortable to wear.
• I love the little bow that falls down one hip. And I love that this is added with a little brooch pin so that if you choose to not wear it you can take it off completely or you can move it to where it suits you best.
• The dress is fully lined in netting as described above with a full built-in corset that is boned and cupped. A waist stay inside hooks to close. The corset closes with its own zipper and then the dress zippers to close over that with a hidden set zipper. The dress appears to have never been worn.

• The twin of this skirt walked the runway for the Fall 2019 season for Look 36.
• It was made under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri
• Vogue's Sally Singer noted that; "Chiuri sought inspiration for this collection from Britain’s postwar Teddy Girls, those working-class, rock ’n’ roll–loving beehived vixens who hit the clubs in a mix of men’s Edwardian jackets, full skirts, blue jeans, leather, velvet, and eyeliner galore. She was struck by the similarity in silhouette and the optimistic excess that characterized Christian Dior’s designs of the same period. She was also moved by Yves Saint Laurent’s addition to the Dior pantheon of a men’s black leather jacket for women in the late 1950s. So, heritage, hipsters, and herstory."
• This skirt is one of the ones that felt most like a heritage piece from that show while still having a modern flare.
• The skirt is made out of a black silk net and the fabric choice is what allows it to hold its fullness.
• Onto the tulle is an extensive pattern created from hand applied beads and sequins. A thin band at the waist cinches it in and then the skirt is full under that. It will fall to about mid-calf to the ankle depending on your height.
• At the front the skirt is fully split and open from just under the band at the waist to the hem. It wraps over itself a touch at the split and there is a little flat bow at the waist for added detail.
• This open split lets you can layer it over just about anything. You can take a simplest little dress or plain skirt that you already have, pop this over it, and all of a sudden you have an amazing and elaborate look.
• The entire skirt has been appliqued with little floral sprigs that are made of hand set metal coils, tiny seed beads, sequins and MOP finished paillettes. All of the work appears to have been done by hand.
• It is made out of two layers of the black netting and meant to have a slight transparency. It closes with snap and hook an eye at the waist and is open down the front. It looks to have never been worn or worn very little. It is a very little special piece that has a huge array of styling options.

• This is original dress from the 1950s that is completely made by hand.
• It is an absolutely incredible example of the high level of hand work being done during that time period and you would be hard pressed to find anything modern done to this degree outside of true Couture pieces.
• The dress has hundreds of thousands of sequins and beads hand applied over every inch of its surface. The sequins are incredibly dense in the way that they have been applied. They are set so that they overlap each other to the point where they stand up and off the dress slightly. The black sequins were done in a swirling burst design and this lets it catch the light differently and creates the most amazing effect.
• Added to that is a floral design in pale pink, gold and greens that is also done in sequins. This wraps around the bodice and then runs down the entire skirt of the dress with the density of the design getting heavier as it near the hem.
• Added over that are coloured over-sized faceted beads have been applied by hand to add an extra bit of detail and sparkle to the dress. They are all jewel tones mixed with gold and copper and it is just incredible to see.
• The dress does have weight to it but it is perfectly balanced once it is on the body. 
• It has straps but can also be worn strapless. Inside there is a full built-in boned and cupped corset that holds the dress in place and adds shape. The waist is brought in by this corset and then the dress skims over the hips. As it falls to the floor it narrows down. There is an overlapping curved slit at the back that allows you to be able to walk in it.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silky rayon. The dress has an inner corset that hooks into place with a double row of metal lingerie hooks. The inner corset is boned and cupped. It is lightly tacked into the dress. I see some slight minor wear on the inside of the corset here and there. The dress zips to close over that. It is completely made by hand. My favourite detail is a handwritten tag with the name Edith that sits inside the hem. This is almost certainly the name of the burlesque dancer or showgirl dancer that would have worn the dress.

• This dress is from the Spring 1998 season.
• It was made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino.
• This is a really stunning dress that shows how beautifully Valentino emphasize the female body will always staying within a certain type of elegant.
• It is strapless and cut to curve over the top.
• Under that the dress is covered in a black netting that has little dots worked throughout the tulle. 
• An inner ivory silk layer gives the dress its structure and allows the pattern that you see on the netting to really take centre stage by acting as it's backdrop.
• The dress is gathered down the full length of each side. This is what creates the shape and gathers in the netting that you see. 
• Each side has a detail of a double row of tiny black seed beads running vertically all the way down for a little added glitz as you move.
• The very bottom of the inner skirt peeks out from underneath the netting. It is that so that it flares out with an elaborate pleated ruffle all the way around.
• The ivory acts as the lining through the body and then the bodice is lined with an additional layer of black silk satin. Lightly boned through the inner built-in bodice. It closes with a hidden set side zipper and the inner bodice piece has its own separate zipper. It has its original tag and appears to have never been worn.

• The twin of the dress walk the runway for the Resort 2018 Prada runway as Look 19.
• It was made under the creative direction of Miuccia Prada.
• The dress is made from an inner silk chiffon, lace edged dress that you wear a silk organza and feather dress over top of that. The two dresses laying over each other is what creates the depth and airiness that you see.
• The inner dress is a pale ivory and the outer dress is a pale grey. The two together are absolutely beautiful.
• A nude pink silk edges the top of the outer dress and there is a layer of gold connected metal discs set under that.
• The fit is full and open through the body much like a 1920s flapper dress.
• There is a pleated organza that detail the hip area above the feathers. I love how she always adds these tiny details.
• Hand dyed feathers circle around the entire lower skirt and give it incredible volume. They move beautifully as you move.
• The inner dress slips onto to wear with a single button at the side of the bodice and the outer dress closes down the side with hidden set snaps
• There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

• The dress is from the Spring 1972 season as noted on its Haute Couture tag we were lucky enough to find photos from the collection and you can see how beautiful it is once on.
• It was made under the creative direction of Marc Bohan for Christian Dior. 
• There is very little documentation on this particular collection, but in the book 'Dior Catwalk' it notes that the New York Times exclaimed, that "romance, contemporary style, is the provision look for spring." It goes on to declare that Bohans collection for Dior was the best of the season in Paris. "Mark Bohan succeeded in bringing back the fable elegance without becoming historical. There's no pinpointing of the 1930s or 1940s. The clothes look really contemporary".
• With such little documentation of the collection it makes a piece like this that is documented even more special and rare.
• This would have been made completely by hand in the Paris atelier.
• The dress is made out of a beautiful stiffened or starched blue silk gazaar that is woven on the bias so that the dress has a more sculptural structure and shape while still staying very light in weight. The colour is a deep blue.
• It is cut to sit fully off the shoulders though I think you could also wear it on the top edge of the shoulders if you wished.
• Each sleeve is cut to just above the elbow and has a beautiful ruffle all the way around.
• It skims over the bust and curve in a touch at the waist. Inside there is a full boned inner corset that goes to the top of the hips. This holds the dress perfectly in place around you once it is on.
• From there it skims over the hips and then flares out beautifully to the hem. The entire hem is finished with a wide ruffle that picks up on the detailing of the sleeves.
• What makes this dress especially interesting is the way that it is almost sculpted because of the fabric treatment. As good as it looks in the photos it is even more beautiful in person.
• The dress is lined in a grey-blue silk organza. The inner corset closes with its own zipper and there is an inner partial waist stay that hooks to close inside the corset. The exterior dress zips to close over that at the side. All of the work is done by hand to Haute Couture standards.
