Phenomenal Fall 1991 Jean Louis Scherrer Haute Couture Runway Silk Velvet Cut Devore Cocoon Coat
- The twin of this phenomenal coat walked the runway for the Fall 1991 Jean Louis Scherrer Haute Couture collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Eric Mortensen.
- The coat would have been completely made by hand in the Paris atelier.
- This coat is a dream and I feel like the photos do not fully convey how beautiful it is in real life. It is made out of a cut silk devore and has the feel of a 1920s couture flapper coat.
- The fabric is outstanding. The base silk is a pale olive green and then the silk velvet on top of that is the prettiest softest brown. The velvet catches the light and changes how its colour feels slightly depending on how the light hits it.
- The pattern that covers it is a beautiful floral pattern that trails over the entire coat.
- The collar is soft and is a nod to the extended shawl collars of the 1920s. There is some padding built into the shoulders for some structure.
- The sleeves extend out from the waist so they are very wide around the body and then they narrow down to the opening that you slip your hand through.
- To wear the coat you simply slip it on. It has no closures and once on it drapes into place around you falling in beautiful, curving draped lines around you.
- The hem is cut so that it curves up and around at the front and falls longer at the back.
- This is a piece that you really cannot get the full sense of until it is on and moving. It wraps around you in a cloud of silk velvet and silk. It is so very good.
- The coat is fully lined in a very high end olive coloured silk and has no closures. All of the work is done completely by hand to couture standards. The proper Haute Couture numbered tag is present. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. The generous cut should fit just about any frame. It will just be more draped and cocoon feeling the smaller you are.
- There is no size tag present because it is true Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.

SIZE GUIDE
Please review all measurements carefully. More often than not, vintage garments do not fit any size category exactly. If in doubt, measure a garment of your own that fits and is a similar cut and compare it's measurements to the listed measurements below.
