This is an amazing vintage Azzedine Alaia "city" suit that has that high end, minimalist feel of the nineties combined with the chicness of the working girl and sharp tailoring that only Alaia can do. The shoulders are strong and cut that way to emphasize the nipped in waist of the jacket. Cirling the upper bodice of the jacket is an additional panel of fabric giving it a nod to the classic trench coat in feel. It is cut with that classic hourglass shape and pockets curve around each hip and are anchored with a matte black button that matches the ones that close the front. The shorts have a classic flat pleat suit trouser, much like a man's suit trouser. The fabric the suit is made of is also a play on men's suiting, with a ribbed texture worked through it. When this was purchased my client was told it was worn by none other then the iconic supermodel Beverly Johnson. In the video attached you see a version in pink near the end of the clip. Excellent condition.
The shorts are unlined and the jacket is fully lined in a black satin. The jacket closes with buttons at the front and the shorts close with a zipper and buttons at the waist. Each sleeve of the jacket has three decorative buttons.

I stumbled across this little excerpt on marieclare.co.uk from june 2015 on the impact that the Laura Ashley label had and it really was worth posting here with this dress: "Housewives everywhere became hooked on Laura Ashley's romantic silhouettes and floral-drenched prints in the 1970s. The Edwardian-style dresses and vintage-look fabrics divided opinion amongst the more fashion-forward at the time. 'They're not particularly clothes for making a splash in a dramatic place,' the designer justified at the time. 'They're simple garments to wear at home, and when you get home perhaps you need the security of nostalgia.'
That seems perfectly fitting given this lovely and early example of her work. I am not always a huge fan os Laura Ashley pieces and seldom pick them up but this one is the exception. It does have that wonderful mix of the seventies giving a strong nod to the past and yet still feels fresh with what we are seeing on the runways. It is made of a block printed cotton with a charming pattern of deer running across it in bands. The color is a combination of a white with a deep dusky green over that. The front dips into a V and has a high set waist that sits just under the bust. There are attached ties there that wrap around to create some shape. The skirt cascades to the floor from there with a ruffled hem to finish. I love how each sleeve has a little cuff that curves over the wrist and each ties to close. Excellent condition
Unlined and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Each cuff has attached ties to close and there are attached ties at each side of the front empire waist to add shape.

I love vintage Diane Von Furstenberg pieces. The new ones she makes now are certainly beautiful, but there seems to be a special bit of magic about the older pieces from early on in her career. This soft cotton T-shirt fabric set has one of her early, bold designs screened over its surface. It is one of the best prints I have ever seen on a DVF piece - a bright emerald green palm tree print is screened onto a crisp white backdrop. It is actually two pieces, making it incredibly versatile. The skinny fit top wraps to close in her signature style with a plunging neck and long, skinny sleeves. The skirt is cut to fall to the floor and gently widens as it nears the hem into that perfect seventies Aline shape. Wearing a Diane Von Furstenberg design is appropriate for almost any event or occasion that may arise. Which is probably exactly why they are one of the must haves in any girls closet. Excellent condition
Both pieces are unlined. The top has long attached ties that wrap to close. The skirt has a flat elastic band inside the waist. The t-short cotton fabric has some stretch so is incredibly comfortable to wear

I love the simplicity of this little black silk dress and its kind of nod to the flapper era. The skirt is dropped low on the hip and is very full giving it a very flirty feel. It has a built in tulle underskirt that creates that dramatic shape. Having it sit so low give the illusion of length as the eye is tricked to look down. The waist is nipped in and defined by the vertical seaming that runs through the torso. I love the crossed halter top that extends into caps over each shoulder. The big bandeau knot at the front that the crossed panels are secured with is picked up and mimicked on the bad that goes around the top of the skirt. Very chic and a great early Suzy Perette. Presents as great condition but does have some small flaws so its priced at a steal - please read the description below.
Fully lined in black silky rayon with an attached inner tulle crinoline in the low set skirt. It closes with a painted metal zipper up the back. This fabric tends to show very slight creases where it bends where worn and these are lightly apparent through the waist area. There is a touch of patina along the edges of the folds as well. This is a natural occurrence for this type of fabric as it ages but I have significantly reduced the price to accommodate. It still has a ton of like to it ans if sound and strong.

What a beautiful Pucci dress that is constructed from one of his signature silk jerseys with a bright pattern in a coveted mix of blues, lavender and taupes that absolutely pops off the black backdrop. The bodice skims over the bust right down to the hem with a contrasting printed border running down each side to create an even greater illusion of length. Another border accents the high V neck and upper chest. The cut is a simple and classic sheath with a slight Aline cut as the skirt nears its hem with another accenting border circling the bottom. The sleeves are left simple and slim cut. This is a classic Pucci silhouette that is instantly recognizable and very sexy despite it not being super form fitting. I love all the contrasting print panels that give the cut visual definition. This colorway is amongst one of the more covetable of his designs and they are remarkably bright and true even now after all these years. It also has its original piped fabric belt. Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Unlined and slips on to wear closes with hand covered snaps to close the very top of the back neck. Tagged a vintage Pucci 10 but of course, check the actual measurements. The fabric does have some stretch.

Halston is one of those rare labels that for whom the more time goes by it actually feels more relevant. It is easy to think of this piece as both a treasured collectible and a closet staple - knowing that every time you slip it on you will look and feel amazing. It has a definitive Grecian goddess feel to it combined with his signature simplicity and masterful draping - and a touch of Studio 54 sexiness thrown in. I normally stick to the main line label but make the exception for really fabulous pieces like this or the draped one shoulder dresses I have on the site from time to time. It simply slips on with elastic that runs through the waist to create just the hint of a suggestion of shape as it is cut very loose and easy even there. The front plunges deeply but the weight and placement of the fabric and interior elastic hold it in place so that you feel safe wearing it. The wide cut through the waist creates an almost harem pant feel and these narrow by the time they hit the ankles. This piece also has its original cape that goes with the jumpsuit - you simple slips your arms through it and then it hangs over the shoulders to creates a curved, caped Grecian effect with incredible loops of draping down each side. So sexy! Brilliantly Halston in every way and very easy to wear. Excellent condition
The skirt is unlined and the top front has a double layer of the jersey. It slips on and closes with hook and eye arranged and hidden along the waist. Elastic through the waist. Tagged with a Bonwit Teller label as well. 100% Quiana nylon. The easy cut and fabric will allow it to fit a large range of sizes

In 1975 Mary McFadden invented a pleated technique that was a nod to the technique used by Fortuny (which has never been truly replicated as he did not leave his secret to anyone prior to his death). McFadden's version did not use silk but an innovative for its time, synthetic silk, whose pleating was permanent even after washing and wearing. This fabrication became her trademark and was considered cutting edge at the time. This particular dress is a wonderful example of how she used her signature pleated fabric with other elements to create high contrast and beautiful designs. The skirt and rounded, curved sleeves are done in a beautiful pale lavender pleat making it instantly recognizable as a McFadden design. It is of course the intricately beaded ans sequined bodice on a light layer of silk organza that I particularly love. The workmanship is exquisite. The contrast of these two elements is stunning. From her couture label and it is almost a sin that her dresses can be priced at such a reasonable number. Presents as excellent condition
The bodice is fully lined in a second layer of silk organza and the skirt & sleeves are unlined. It closes with a side, hidden set zipper. Tagged an 8 but of course check the measurements below. Note that there is a shadow under the arm in the photos - this is not a flaw but the dress shield that is tacked inside showing through the net. Upon close inspection there appears to have been a few stitches added along that seam to secure the net - its hard to tell as the sequins are hand applied as well. It appears strong and stable but mentioned for accuracy.

I have had this Frank Usher tucked away for a long time because it is so amazing it was hard to let go. If it does not sell quickly it might just disappear back into my archives so count yourself forewarned. It is really amazing. It is drapes to the floor and has yards and yards of slinky taupe jersey for its fabric and this fabric choice really drapes and moves wonderfully. It's a definite statement maker and everything about it screams red carpet, Grecian goddess and sex appeal. It is cut on the bias so falls and drapes to follow your every curve. The skirt is long and lean with a four panel of fabric lying over the inner skirt. Each panel is cut on an angle and the movement this creates is wonderful. The waist is set high and just under the bust, adding to its Grecian feel and it is elastic so extremely comfortable on. The top is pure sex with four triangles that all plunge to the waist and curve over the shoulders. On each shoulder is ties that have multiple strands of the same fabric and these trail down and over the shoulder. It's all old Hollywood meets Madame Gres meets an ancient Grecian goddess and it is fabulous. Excellent condition
The bodice is a double layer of the slinky jersey and the main inner skirt is unlined. It slips on the wear with elastic at the waist.

Stephen Burrows is one of my favorite designers. Burrows was first African American fashion designer to be known on an international scale and was also an award winning designer - he won the Coty award in 1973, '74 and '77. He was recently one of the designers featured in the film "Battle of Versailles" where he participated as one of the five chosen American designers to show their clothes along with the French couturiers at Versailles in 1973 (the other Americans present for that show were Bill Blass, Oscar de la Renta, Halston and Anne Klein, not bad company at all). His is best known for his fluid jersey dresses that draped onto the body and wrapped and tied. The lettuce hem - of which this dress has in a more subtle version of - is his signature finish. Here he taken a layer of a fluid taupe jersey and wrapped it around the body. At the front it is sewn into place by a complicated twist from which two long panels of fabric come out. These then wrap around the body and can be worn tied at the back and left trailing down or wrapped around the waist to create definition like I have done here. A long slit shows off leg when you move. It is very sexy and sophisticated. Excellent condition
There was recently an exhibit on his work called "When Fashion Danced" and it was the first major examination of Burrows' work. Here is what the museum said of his work: "Stephen Burrows: When Fashion Danced looks at the period spanning the 1970s when Stephen Burrows’s meteoric rise to fame made him not only the first African-American designer to gain international stature, but a celebrated fashion innovator whose work helped define the look of a generation. With vibrant colors, metallic fabrics, and slinky silhouettes that clung to the body, Burrows’s danceable designs generated a vibrant look that was of a piece with the glamorous, liberated nightlife of the era. Through photographs, drawings, and original garments, the exhibition will trace Burrows’s evolution from creating eclectic looks for his friends in the 1960s to his work with the chic 57th Street retailer Henri Bendel to the floor of Studio 54, as he dressed such 70s style icons as Cher, Liza Minnelli, and Diana Ross."
The dress is mode of a single layer of his fluid synthetic jersey except through the bust where there is two layers of jersey. It slips over the head and then wraps and ties around the body. The fabric does have stretch so it will fit a larger range of sizes

This dress came with tags from the StarWares auction and was part of an auction several years prior to her passing. Even without the Hollywood connection it is a drop dead gorgeous Ungaro dress and with the recent revival of all things eighties feels surprisingly fresh once again. I have had a similar dress to this in the shop before and this is one of my favorite designs by him. It is utterly fantastic in every possible way and manages to be dramatic, sexy and classic all at once. It is superbly fitted and almost corseted through the torso where the silk is gathered in perfect soft drapes. The shoulders are cut high and square and the sleeves begin fuller at the top pf the arm and then narrow to a zipped cuff. I love the square off front with the angled inset sleeves and the sexy cut out detailing at the back. The fabric is 100% silk inside and out and has a fantastic yellow dot print on black. It is very well made with hand finishes and could have been custom made in this particular fabric just for Joan. The wrapped panel of fabric that ends in a bow on the hip gives it a bit of a forties vibe. A really stunning dress. Excellent condition
The dress is fully interlined in black silk chiffon and closes with a back painted metal zipper and a button at the top back neck. Shoulder pads, lightly boned through the bodice and hand finished. Note that on the proper sized girl it will close completely - it was too small on my mannequin to do so hence the gap mid-back

The print on this lovely silk caftan gown was inspired by Zandra's 1971 trip to Paris. In the book "The Art of Zandra Rhodes:" she says of the inspiration behind this print: "Yves Saint Laurent was the leading light of Haute Couture. His last collection had been short and graphic with vivid flower print colors....I wanted to design a flower print but not a traditional one...I thought I would draw the flowers like buttons stitched on the fabric....with modern bold Matisse shapes for the petals". This "Button flower" became the first floral print of that season and she then expanded the floral print idea with a more wiggly, frilly motif or "Frilly Flower" design that we see here.
This amazing caftan dress is on a light silk dyed a stunning shade of blue with the design hand painted onto the fabric in a pretty pinks and yellows anchored with blacks. Very easy to wear as it just slips on and there is elastic that runs through the waist. The front is very low and sexy with its plunging neckline right to the waist. The sleeves are cut very full and curved like an angle sleeves. I love the knife pleat ruffle that runs around the collar and neck. The skirt Flares out so you have a wonderful light fullness as it cascades to the floor. Once on it is like wearing nothing as the silk is very light in weight. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a matching blue tissue silk except for the top of the shoulders and sleeves. It slips on to wear with elastic through the waist. The tie at the waist is decorative only. The easy cut will allow it to fit a fuller range of sizes. The blue of the silk is a shade more of a pastel in tone than how it photoed

Sometimes that little black dress that has the perfect marriage of ease, sophistication and yet still have that pow factor is a hard thing to find. This wonderful piece from Ferre just might be a contender. It simple pops on and the loose and easy shape settles over the body in a way that is infinitely flattering. The dress has a very simple cut - it is basically a chic little twenties inspired sheath but one that is densely covered with dangling strands of tube beads. The bodice has a flattering scoop neck and the back is also scooped a little lower. The beads that cover the dress are sewn on in little independent strands so create tremendous movement and a glossiness to the surface. They silk on a silk chiffon base and there is second layer of chiffon under that so the dress has this great combination of heavy beads on a light fabric - again giving it wonderful movement and drape. Very old Hollywood mixed with that perfect ease and sexiness of the 80s. Excellent condition.

This stunning dress is one of my favorite Malcolm Starr designs. I have seen it in red before but this is my first in gold and blue. The fabric is stunning with a gold metallic thread covering an underlying pattern in blues and greens, all on an light organza. The effect is amazing - almost like wearing a fine gold leaf and the dress is shockingly light in weight. The bodice skims over the torso with darling little capped sleeves and a detailed waist line. The front is notched and plunges and the neck, waist and sleeves are all detailed with a gold braid that has rhinestones set all along its length. The skirt cascades to the floor in a widening swath of fabric and I love the fullness of it. The silk used is very lightweight and the fabric really holds the shape of the skirt beautifully. I love that it has pockets hidden away at the sides and that it is lined in blue - this unexpected flash of color is spectacular against the gold. Really a lovely piece! Excellent condition.

This Malcolm Starr silk gown is absolutely stunning. The combination of color and print underneath that densely beaded surface is spectacular. It's elegance and refined while still feeling fresh and sexy. The dress has a simple and classic cut - it is a simple sheath with a slightly defined waist and a long, lean skirt that cascades to the floor. It is sleeveless with a scooped front and low V at the back. The bodice is cut to suggest the softest of draping and the skirt cascade to the floor in a column of silk. The silk twill base has a huge floral pattern screened onto it in soft greys and pinks on an pale yellow. Onto this and following the floral pattern are silver interior, clear glass tube beads that are hand applied. The effect is beautiful the gown shimmers in the light as a result. This beading is done head to toe and give the gown an incredible weight, though once in it feels perfectly balanced and comfortable. Excellent condition!
Fully lined in a off white tissue silk. It closes with a painted back metal zipper. Hand applied bead-work and finished. I see no major bead loss. There is one small mark on the bodice that may lighten further with additional cleaning - its hard to spot because of the immense amounts of beads. Please super size the photo to see.

Beautiful bright colors for a pretty floral print that is screened onto this scarf weight chiffon Malcolm Starr dress. The fabric choice makes it feather light and it has that wonderful floating quality that the well made chiffon gowns from this time period have. The color saturation is vivid and true. The bodice is kept simple with long sleeves that widen out to a quite full flare as they near the wrist and the neckline is left high and scooped. It has its original fabric tie belt so you can choose to wear it loose and easy for a more caftan feel or cinch in the waist for shape. The skirt cascades to the ground in yards of fabric and has great movement. This one was designed when Youssef Rizkallah headed the company so would have been made between 1969 and 1975. It is extremely pretty and extremely romantic. The semi transparency allows you to be bold and minimal underneath or wear something under it that will provide full coverage or a contrasting color.. Excellent condition.
Unlined and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Hand finishes and retains its original tie fabric belt. There is one tiny stitch of a repair on the back skirt but it is strong and stable and in now way detracts.

If there was ever a dress that one could imagine on Grace Kelly I think this is it. It has a definitive retro feel but in a thoroughly modern way. I love the crisp taffeta used - it helps to hold the shape and that amazing deep pleating on the skirt and has a lovely lightness to it. The bust skims over the body and is detailed with her signature raw edged seaming. The button front allows you to do it right up to the neck or leave it open to create a plunge at the front. The waist is seamed with the skirt set up over the seam and it has its original belt to create a more cinched in fifties starlet feel. The skirt is a masterpieces - it is deliberately and meticulously shaped and draped with wide pleats of fabric. The finishing is perfection and it is very collectible. It has a decidedly fifties feel to it mixed with a wanton and beguiling, girl-next-door, sexiness. Excellent, appears to have never been worn condition.

I love the vintage vibe that this pretty little Dolce and Gabbana dress has with its beautiful feminine floral print and fitted silhouette. Dolce always cuts their dresses to really flatter a girls figure and this one is no exception. It has that old Hollywood Italian move star feel to it The photos really don't do it justice in capturing how wonderful the fabric and print really is.. The top is fitted with a V that gives a flash of skin and the waist cinched. The skirt is cut to hug the hip and show off your curves. At the back is their signature wide grosgrain ribbon that is set over the zipper. The fact that is is done in a bright red will insure all eyes are on you when you exit a room. And the fact that the lining is down in their signature leopard? Perfect! Excellent condition.

This beautiful and all original swing dress is screened with a bright and vivid floral design on the skirt and has a padded floral detail on one shoulder. The color is amazingly true and bright and is screened on a light silk crepe base. The fabric is stunning - it is a high quality silk crepe that has a slight stretch so is easy and comfortable when on. The dress itself has lots of fine seaming and detailing and is extremely eye catching. The front has a gathered and scooped neckline with side shoulders that are gathered as well. One shoulder has a stunning cut out and padded floral bouquet attached that perfectly picks up the design of the skirt. The skirt is cut fairly lean with a soft, flattering Aline and is gathered up at the front into that angular line of the dropped waistline. The contrast between the black and the color of the skirt and that shoulder derail is really stunning. Extremely pretty and bright and a real find. Excellent condition

Every Halston piece is something special and this little set is no exception. All three pieces are in a feather light crepe chiffon that has a pretty abstract print screened onto it in a deep red over a black base. The fabric is semi transparent so the layering of the two dresses - the inner slip dress and the exterior sleeved one - creates an interesting effect when the pattern plays off each other. The shape is simple and easy to wear - both the inner and outer dress is cut fairly straight and simple. The inner dress has tiny nude straps and the outer has a keyhole at the back neck. The matching scarf piece can be used as a belt, a head scarf or around the neck. I love that you can wear these all together or break the set up and wear separately, Well cut and chic - the Halston standard! Excellent condition
The inner dress is made of two layers of the chiffon and the exterior a single layer left unlined. The inner dress closes with a side hidden set zipper and the exterior layer slips over the head with a hook & eye at the top of the keyhole. The scarf is square cut and approx 36" square

John Anthony opened his label in 1971 and during the seventies produced amazing pieces that were sleek and sexy. This particular dress from the late seventies is genius. The soft draped detail on the bust is hand placed and set to soften the fitted silhouette underneath. It gives the effect of the wearer being wrapped and draped and the gathering at the hip extends this wrapped Grecian feel. I have shown it draped two ways here and each is equally flattering. The body of the dress is cut in a beautiful column of jersey with the waistline defined. The jersey used is a light and of good quality with a bit of crepe feels to it. It drape perfectly and is very flattering as it skims over the body. The side that has a sleeve is cut long and lean. If you love it in the photos you will be more pleased with it in person. Very Grecian goddess and very sexy on - far better on a real body then on my mannequin. Excellent condition

The Annacat label was a favorite of British Vogue at the time and their pieces were often used in the editorial pages so I would not be surprised to stumble across a photo of this fabulous little piece one day. They opened in 1965 and sold out in 1970 so their pieces are hard to find since the time frame they were made in is so small and they would never have been made in large numbers. This is just an absolute dream of an example of their work. Covered in a swirling green print on a crisp, almost canvas weight, white cotton backdrop, this little beauty can double as a chic little coat or be worn as a dress. The styling is pure sixties British mod with large pointed collar and big cuffs, both of which are trimmed in a white lace scalloping. It is a perfect pop of happiness that you cannot help but smile when you see it. It is wonderfully and very well constructed. Pockets are hidden along each inner seam at the front and it closes off side. One of my favorite little details on it are the matching fabric covered buttons. Very fabulous and in excellent condition
Fully lined in a white silky rayon and buttons to close. Looks to have never been worn and the white is crisp and bright.

The woman behind the DeWeese label designed the swimsuits worn in the Miss America pageant for a number of years and was the head designer at Catalina for 12 years. This beginning in swimwear shows in this dress since it is made of high end swimsuit fabric. This fabric wears amazingly - you can literally roll it in a ball in your suitcase and wear it as soon as you arrive to where you are going. It can get wet, it won't wrinkle and its sexy as hell. It also takes color extremely well which is evidenced in the vivid print that covers every inch of the dress. A halter style bodice sits above a high empire waistline and the skirt falls to the floor in a widening A-line. The interior has a built n bra that is molded and very much like the swimsuits of the era. I love the little box that sits under the chest. It's fabulous and a great example of her work during This time period. Excellent condition!
Unlined and slips over the head. The seam under the bust has a bit of elastic stretch to it. The halter ties at the back of the neck. Full cupped built in bra with elastic that goes around the back. In person the coral parts of the print pop much more.

The dramatic and Galliano for Dior is so ninties. The pink floral pattern that covers the silk and gorgeous little ruffled details is quite beautiful. Galliano designed fantasy combined with historical references and during the nineties this bias cut pieces like this where highly coveted, as they still are now. This three piece set consists of a sexy little corset top, a long asymmetrical, ruffled skirt and a long fringe scarf. The skirt flows to the floor in dramatic ruffled layers that are beautifully cut on the bias and have exquisite draping detail. It hugs the hip and then changes to tiered panels of silk chiffon cut on an angle to add an interesting volume and movement when you move. The corset is strapless and made from a bubblegum pink stretch jersey over an intricately boned interior with built in cups. It also has its original matching shawl that can be wrapped around the hips, shoulders, neck or worn as a headpiece. It is absolutely beautiful and unusual. Excellent condition
The top is fully lined in pink cotton netting and is fully boned with interior built in cups. It closes with a metal and nylon zipper at the side. Ruching runs through each arm and the front of the top and this can be adjusted for different effects. The skirt closes with a row of tightly spaced fabric covered buttons at the side and is lined in a pink silk that follows the shape of the pieces of the skirt bottom. The corset a US6. Note the pink of the corset is more of a true pink in person

This is a fantastic little Hanae Mori day dress done in a pretty palette of pink and green on a cotton voile. You just pop this one on, wrap the tie around the waist and it instantly feels chic and easy to wear. The cross over front has a nice little plunge so balance the long sleeves and the skirt flares out slightly. The sleeves are each cut so that they slightly widen as they near their ends and are left unlined which with the slightly semi-transparency that the fabric has - gives a really pretty effect. I love how she top stitched just the front part of the tie belt - it gives it a nod to the classic obi and adds her signature East meets West aesthetic. Really a fantastic piece. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a white cotton voile except for the sleeves and wraps to close with the attached tie belt. There are hidden fabric covered snaps at the front and the attached fabric tie belt goes around the waist. You could move the snaps and inch or so up or down to adjust the size for a perfect fit if needed.

The La Mendola label is highly collectible and sought after - when the duo behind the label where designing in Rome it was girls like Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth that were buying and wait listing for it. The Italian shop closed in 1974 and this would have been from that shop. The silk jersey used is so fine and so light that it feel utterly amazing on and works even in warm climates because the fabric really breathes. The design is beautifully vibrant and bright with its mix of greens and pinks and pops of tangerine, and the dress exquisite. The entire dress weighs ounces and will fold into the tiniest of balls - exactly what a jet set girl of that time would have been after! It has a simple cut with an undefined waist, high neck and long sleeves. This one has a tie belt as well so you can cinch it in. I love how it covers the body completely but the fabric drapes and clings to every curve so it is still insanely sexy. The high neckline and that row of tightly spaced, tiny, hand covered silk buttons up the back of the neck are the final delicious touch. It is an amazing piece. Excellent condition and appears unworn.
Unlined and slips on to wear with a row of hand covered silk buttons up the back of the neck. The bias cut and design of the dress will allow it to work on a variety of sizes.

Quintessential Valentino day wear, this dress has all the elements that made women crazy for that Valentino look. I love the dots - the white dot is perfect screened onto the soft pink silk crepe base. The skirt is cut to skim the hips and flares out dramatically with a ton of fullness creating those beautiful soft pleats that you see. The bodice is also cut to skim and sit loosely over the bodice with squared off shoulders that give it a touch of the forties feel. Each sleeve is cut wide at the top and narrows to a zipped cuff. The neckline crosses over itself and very long ties are set in at the waist giving the illusion that it is a wrapped dress and allowing you to cinch in the waist. Very feminine and chic. Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a pink silk organza through the skirt and a silk crepe through the bodice. It closes with a back painted metal and nylon zipper. Each cuff has a zipper to close. The color of the pink is best represented in the label shot.

This is perhaps the most iconic of all of the Halston silhouettes and he was a master at this cut. There is a certain sexiness caused by the illusion of having the entire dress suspended by one hook at the shoulder. It gives the sense that undoing that hook would cause the entire dress to drop in a puddle around you. There actually is an inner dress that is made from the same synthetic jersey. It skims over the body in a long sheath and has a slit traveling up on side of the leg opposite to the draped side. Over this is lies the panel of jersey suspended from the shoulder. This top layer hooks into place and then cascades loosely down and over the inner layer for the ultimate Grecian goddess feel. A classic and iconic piece that is perfect for traveling as they are wash and wear and travel exceedingly well. Easy to style too - a quick change of shoe takes it day to night in a snap. Excellent condition.
Slips on and has a hook at the top of the shoulder. These will fit a variety of sizes since they are not cut to be super fitted.

A rare Jeff Banks scarf weight, silk crepe top that is so light and it feels like nothing once on. The base color is a pale cafe au lait and that is then covered with soft, pink hued pastel flowers that have pops of a soft tangerine worked into the design. Each cuff buttons to close on a wide cuff and above those the sleeves are done with a huge balloon finish above the wrist. The cut is slim and sexy and the collar has a slightly more subtle version of his signature, long dog ear shape. It is amazing. Excellent condition

I think this is the most coveted of all the Bill Tice designs. A version of it sits in the closet of countless celebrities (Lady Gaga recently wore a version, as have girls like Rachel Zoe & Nicole Richie) and it is one of those fail safe pieces that you know is going to work every time you put it on. It is insanely sexy with a halter style front that plunges to the waist and a back that is left completely open and bare. It is made of a liquid cream jersey so feels amazing on and has the added bonus of traveling very well. It is the kind of piece you can throw into your suit case and slip on with either flats or heels when you reach some far off destination and be perfectly ready to go. The front has a high slit that shows when you walk or sit and I love the signature wide top stitch gold belt at the waist. It is attached all around the back and then the front ties to cinch you in exactly to where you want. Note that while this presents as great condition it does have some flaws and has been priced dramatically lower then what I normally price these at. Please read condition notes below before purchasing
Unlined and slips on. Ties at the back of the neck and at the waist. Elastic through the front portion of the waist. The easy fit allows it work on a variety of sizes.
Note that this one is flawed - there are areas of a very, very faint light pink color that is worked into the fabric. It was cleaned twice and these areas did lighten more then when I acquired it to the what you see now. It may continue to lighten more with additional cleanings. I think it was stored with something that bled some color onto it. The areas are very, very light and run up and through the drapes. When I first saw it I did not even notice - when on I feel it is still wearable as is and it would be a shame not to have it worn and loved still. I photoed the areas for you to see - please double click the photos to super-size - it is hard to see even on the photos but that is the best they would photo. The last two I sold of these were priced and both sold at $925 so this is an incredible price for a dress that is not perfect but still sound and wearable

I love Bonnie Cashin leather pieces and this little sleeveless jacket that you can wear as a long vest or as a dress is just amazing. Just the fact that it has so many styling options is an instant bonus for me and I can't help but think it has a kind of Celine vibe to it as well. It is actually amazing how modern it feels considering it would have been made back in the sixties. It is a leather that is quite pliable and has been dyed an taupe cream. It is cut narrow through the bodice and then widens out quite a bit in a dramatic Aline. It can open completely down the front allowing you to use is as a layering piece and features her signature brass turn key clasps. A matching leather tie belt comes with it and again she has created a way to give you multiple options to wear it - there are little slits on the sides along the seam so you can wrap the belt around the outside, run it through so it only ties at the front and is inside and around you, or the opposite and have it only cinch in the back. Between the chic, neutral color, the design and the fact that you can wear this so many ways, it's virtually a no brainer. Plus it is an amazing and rare example of some of Bonnie's best work. Excellent condition

Famous for creating Marilyn Monroe's scintillating and iconic "subway grate" dress for the movie The Seven Year Itch, Travilla began as a costume designer before opening his own custom atelier in the 1950s. He did both until 1970, closed shop and then reopened in in the late seventies. I would hazard that this gown is one of the early creations from when he reopened and is quite wonderful. The gown is undeniably exquisite in its cut and design. The long lean cut and the way the fabric drapes over the body and hides an inner foundation is marvelous. It is constructed from a rich cream colored, heavy silk crepe with the flaring of the skirt actually crated by the fabric and allowing each vertical panel of the dress to widen out as it nears the floor. The front is a simple strapless gown with an extraordinary detailing of soft cream Mongolian fur circling around the top of the bodice. From that detailing the gown falls to the floor in a sleek column. The entire bodice has a built in corset so you get no lines from the exterior but perfectly fit under. The back is genius with a flared, "mermaid" cut to the back hem that is done with couture precision. The genius is in both the cut and choice of such fine fabrications. Really a beauty and far better in person then how it photoed. Excellent condition.

I Have a Question
If you have been looking for the perfect little black dress that has that perfect mix of sexy and chic, this late eighties Chanel dress is perfect. It is cut to be fitted and to follow your every curve but without being so tight that it is unflattering. If anything the way it is cut and the fabric choices hide flaws and give you curves whether you have them or not. The skirt is made of a thicker stretch jersey with an inner fine, silk lining. It hugs the hips and falls to the floor in a narrow sheath with a slit up the back to allow you to be able to walk. The fabric is reminiscent of a bandage dress so really hugs and conceals. The bodice acts like a corset with inner boning and structure to cinch you in at the waist and hold you up through the bust. The top is completely covered with silk chiffon placed in perfect hand done and stitched flat pleats that run horizontally over the corset. The edge of the top is peaked dramatically and then plunges into a deep V. Down the front runs a row of tightly spaced gold Chanel logo buttons. Excellent condition.
Fully lined through the bodice in silk crepe. The jersey skirt is unlined. The bodice is boned and has a stay that hooks to close under the actual bust and a second hooked stay lower down at the waist. Twelve Chanel logo embossed gold gilt metal buttons run down the front. Hidden pockets along the inner, inset, front seams. Tagged a Chanel 36 with size 4 hand written on the tag

Chic and sophisticated, the true connoisseur of vintage cannot go long in collecting before a Norman Norell lands in her closet. His dresses are cut with a master's hand and every line and seam placed exactly where it should be. This particular dress is a classic created from a very unusual and bright color choice for Norell that makes it that much more special and I love it. It is a sleeveless wool crepe shift dress in a bright robin's egg blue. I love that it has this fabulous little pockets at the hip and each pocket is functional. Don't be fooled by it's simplicity - it is seamed and constructed to couture levels and the finishes within it are superb. A classic that will last you a lifetime and then still be relevant! Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a matching blue, fine tissue silk that is entirely hand set. It closes with a hand set back metal zipper. The two tiny front pockets are functional. There is the teeniest, tiniest bit of fading at the exterior under the arm but I am being picky and it certainly does not affect it once one. Some small discoloration to the interior lining that also does not show when on. Priced accordingly.

Lovely and simple, this Jean Hercey dress is perfect for the summer months and will transition into fall with the addition of a jacket or sweater. Hercey was one of the French Couturiers and [produced demi-couture level work. His work is not found as often as some of his contemporaries but when you do find one its a treasure. You can see the interior hand salvages and this heavy hand finishes really tells the quality of the piece. I love the pretty blue scattering of pop feeling flowers on the backdrop of printed silk voile - the contrast between the two patterns is wonderful. It flows to the floor from a pretty scooped bodice, gradually widening as it reaches the hem to create a soft and pretty A-line. It has just a suggestion of waist that is highlighted with a flat blue ribbon. It's the perfect and easy dress that can be styled up or down and worn day to evening. Very simple, very pretty and very, very well made. Excellent condition

Every once in a while a piece comes along that is so chic and forward that it truly feels like while it could be fresh off the 1972 runway, it could equally be from the 2015 one. This is one of those. It is made from a fine nylon fabric that has almost silk feel to it. It is extremely light and easy to wear and feels like a breathe of air on. The top is a button down with classic skinny seventies fit. It has a long pointed collar and cuffs at each sleeve. The pants are fabulous with super wide legs and a flared cut topped by a sleek fit around the hip. I love the white design over the black backdrop - it really pops and feels fresh. The set has its original matching fabric belt allowing you to cinch in the waist to create some shape. Just an amazing and rare set that you can wear together or as separates. Excellent condition

This stunning Yves Saint Laurent set clearly illustrates his love and fascination with all things gypsy, bohemian and peasant in feel while the color and fabric seem to give a nod to his famous love of color. This is like the perfect melding of the two ideas in one. It is actually two pieces plus a tie sash belt, which gives it endless styling potential. The skirt is three stunning tones in cotton with a polished finish and the fabric choice gives it some weight and shape. It is constructed of three tiers of fabric, each a different color. These gradually widen to create the volume through the skirt that you see. I love the ruffled effect that this creates. The top and belt are made of the same fabric and color as the last tier of the skirt. This both creates balance and also gives the set the feel of a true dress when they are worn together. The sleeves are incredible - each is very very full above the elastic cuff. The top is cut to sit wide off the shoulders which really give it a bit of that famous YSL sexiness. It is an amazing and dramatic set! Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Both the top and skirt are unlined. The skirt closes at the side with a painted zipper and flat hook and eye. The top slips on and has elastic at each cuff. Both are tagged a vintage YSL 34. The original belt is present

This pretty pale ice blue silk organza cocktail dress from Suzy Perette is sublime. It's a true 50s masterpiece and a lovely, lovely dress! The soft silk overlay that covers the dress gives it a pretty translucent quality and a bit of depth. Really beautiful. The bodice is simple with a flat across neckline. The waist nips in and the skirt is full and has a lot if volume - here I have styled it over a light crinoline (not included) so that you can see just how full the skirt is. Incredibly the volume and shape is all created by long vertical panels pieced together to create that hourglass feel - just an incredible amount of work. It is a lovely and early Perette dress. Excellent condition
Fully interlined in a pale silky rayon and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Ribbon finished hem and pinked seams. Note that it is a teeny bit small on my mannequins bust and on a smaller chested girl would have no horizontal pull like it does in the photos and zip fully up of course!

The French have a saying "Jolie laide", meaning "beautiful ugly", or something that is unconventionally beautiful. It is mainly used when speaking of a women but I feel it works here as well. The dress and jacket should not work. It is a clash of patterns and fabrics. The skirt and outer part of the jacket is a metallic lurex in the colors shown with florals splashed over its surface. The top of the dress is covered heavily in sequins and these same sequins also completely line the interior of the jacket. The sequins themselves are odd even, each is has an almost tiger striped worked over its surface. Everything clashes yet everything oddly works. It is so bad its oddly good. Wear the jacket over the dress or wear as a separate. Excellent condition
The dress is interlined in a black silky rayon and closes with a back zipper. The jacket is lined in the same black fabric through the sleeves and otherwise completely and densely sequinned through the interior body with the same sequins as the bodice of the dress. The jacket has no closures.

I Have a Question
Arnold Scaasi was born Arnold Isaacs in Montreal and the name Scassi is simply his own name reversed. He studied in Montreal and in Paris, apprenticed at the house of Paquin and then worked with the legendary Charles James. In 1964, he opened own couture salon. He dressed Hollywood stars like Lauren Bacall, Diahann Carroll and Elizabeth Taylor. He dressed several first ladies including Mamie Eisenhower, Hillary Clinton and both Bush first ladies. He even once bragged that he refused to give Jackie clothes for free. He was the man behind the scandalous 1969 Barbra Streisand sheer trouser outfit that she collected her Oscar in, and he was presented with the Council of Fashion Designers of America Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. His mainline was made to couture standards and I am always happy to find his work.
This dress is made out of a purple silk voile that has a fine silver thread running through it. This touch of silver highlights the woven floral design that sits within a basket weave effect. The fabric is truly incredible. The textile alone on this one is incredible. The strapless bodice is cut with a high dramatic squared off shape at the front and straight across at the back. That front panel is set so that it peaks up and above the bust-line and stands out from it so that the squared off shape is kept. It has an almost flattening effect that gives it a historical feel. There is inner boning to help it stand and keep the shape. It then if fitted around the waist to cinch in your shape. The skirt is set into that in a series of soft gathers pleats. It is very full and falls to the floor in gently widening curve to the hem. The inner skirt is lined in a silk organza and finished with a wide strip of stiffened netting to hem to hold the shape. There is also built in tulle layers to give it the fullness that you see. I did not use any additional crinolines for the photos. The sone is not perfect but presents well. Please read full description below.
The bodice is fully lined in a fine black tissue silk and skirt is interlined in back silk organza. There are two layers of tulle skirting and then an interior black silk skirt. The interior skirt and exterior skirt are finished at the hem with a band of wide stiffened netting. The fabric shows slight wear and some fading under the arms. Slight fading and grubbiness at the hem and edge of the top bodice. Some fading to the fabric down one side and a dot of yellowing on the bodice. Please see the photos after the label shot.

Lillie Rubin was founded way back in 1946 but really for me found their groove in the seventies. The specialized in evening wear and though some pieces can be stronger then others, when you find one that is amazing - its really fabulous. Personally, I think this one is a knock out and really shows the line's strong points in terms of mixing fabric and cut. I cannot even begin to tell you just how wonderful the fabric is in person. Black silk chiffon serves as the base and onto this is fused little patched of rich purple silk velvet with tiny shots of gold thread worked through it. The effect of the semi-transparency and the richness of the color is superb. The skirt is a full length A-line and cut on the bias so it really has a lovely flow and drape to it. The top is spectacular and cut to cross over itself at the front and hook to form a high neck. The sleeves are perfectly full and voluminous below a slight padding in the shoulder to balance the skirt. A heavily beaded belt in gold wraps and ties at the waist. Very chic but sexy. Excellent condition and appears to have never been worn.
Unlined and the black silk chiffon base is semi-transparent between the where the purple velvet and gold is fused to that chiffon. It slips over the head with an elastic waist and the front wraps and hooks at the neck. Each cuff closes with a hidden snap. The belt is densley beaded and a good decent weight. The fabric is just fabulous in person and the dress very light.

An amazing slinky and fluid jersey sheath in a bight coral jersey that skims over the body and is cut to emphasize every curve. It is long and lean with a trailing ruffled detail that gives it lots of movement. The dress is cut on the bias so it automatically drapes and settles into place as soon as it hits your body. A high slit runs up one leg with a ruffled finish slit. The neckline is delicious - one shoulder and with a double strap that creates a keyhole effect. Another ruffle is set along the side. This is the dress for when you want to look and feel a mile tall and supermodel skinny. The edges are finished with his signature stitching that makes the jersey slightly curve and ruffle. Really a fabulous and sexy dress and in excellent overall condition. Note the color is truer and brighter in person - it is a true bright clear coral
The dress is unlined and slips on to wear. Very lightweight jersey with lots of stretch and drape - the measurements are taken with it lying flat and with reasonable stretch - the mannequin is about a 4-6 and it would fit a smaller girl well too. Note that the length does come up a bit when worn on a real body. There is one small stitched repair under one arm - please super size the photos to see. It is seems stable and is not really noticeable when on and I have left it as it. Priced accordingly. Note that it photoed with a more orange undertone, in person it is a true coral with more of a pink undertone.

Louis Estevez worked for Jean Patou for two years before starting his own label in 1955. Here we have a truly beautiful and exceptional piece designed that is fairly early on from his career and quite wonderful. It is impeccably constructed and cut to follow a girl's curves but not in an overtly sexual kind of way. The bodice is a sleek and simple expanse of silk satin that is cut and seamed to nip in at the waist and is highlighted there by a "knot effect". The neckline is a simple high scoop at the the front while the back dips low to leave a bare expanse of skin showing. I love the stunning contrast of color with the two blues used and the fullness of the skirt. Soft pleats run down to shape the skirt and built in layers of blue tulle create the fullness you see (I added no extra crinolines under it either!). It is fabulous and the inside is constructed as well as the outside is beautiful. Excellent condition
Partially lined through the bodice with deep seams of the same silk satin while the skirt is interlined with a cotton muslin in the same color as the exterior. Attached inner tulle under the skirt. It closes with a hand set back painted metal zipper. The colors shown are a good representation for tone but in person the fabric is even more beautiful.

This is Chloe from the early to mid 2000s and it is the epitome of that casual but chic French girl feel that the label is known for. Made of a fine silk chiffon in a pink based cream that is very pretty and feminine and surprisingly in-line with what they are showing this season. It has a bit of a flapper feel with its dropped waist and loose cut through the body. The color is the perfect neutral for summer dressing and can easily go from day to evening. I love the banding of fine cotton voile set into the low waist with raw seam edges, that balanced with the ruffled front give it a delicate and romantic feel. That same raw edging is used to highlight the collar, sleeves and the seams that show are let cut and unfinished as well. Perfect for summer and a collectible! Excellent condition and was never worn
Unlined through the bodice and has a an inner cotton voile lining in the skirt. Closes with a hidden set side zipper and hidden snaps under the ruffle at the front. Tagged a Chloe size 42

Marni dresses always are a bit quirky and walk that line between geek chic and high end fashion. You can easily spot a Marni dress for its fashion forward lines and ease that it falls over the body. Rarely do they hug a girl's curves in an overt fashion but rather skim over the body in a soft manner that is easy to wear and yet feels avant garde. This dress is a deep taupe cream in a good weight stretch jersey that is meticulously cut. The front has her signature curved seams and a low drop skirt that has a nice fullness to it. The back is very interesting with a low curved plunge and an attached tie that sits at the base of that plunge and trails down the back. More pleating gives it an almost abstract bustle suggestion. Very chic and never worn. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips over the head to wear with ribbon finishes. The fabric does have some stretch and is a good weight. Unworn and tagged a Marni size 38.

This is a stunning silk twill dress with a depth and richness to the silk that you just don't get the full impact of till you see it in person. The exterior of the dress is a Hermes scarf weight, silk twill, in a brilliant vivid pink with stunning pops of color trailing over its surface. The colors run entirely over the entire piece from the simple, sleeveless, high collared bodice to the skirt that sweeps to the floor in a long and lean column of fabric. I love the deep V at the back with its collared detail edging its plunge. At the back there is a seam defining the waist and giving it shape but from the front it is a single panel of fabric that sweeps down and over the body. Very simple and chic. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a fine vibrant pink tissue silk and closes with a hand set, painted metal zipper.

In an article from Essence magazine Designer Willi Smith is noted as being a designer "who took much pride in birthing a youthful sportswear collection that pushed fashion's boundaries without breaking the bank. His wortk was in high demand and "By 1986, a year before his untimely death, WilliWear was racking in $25 million. Smith's innovative designs won him a number of prestigious accolades including a Coty American Fashion Critic Award for women's fashion in 1983 and a Cutty Sark Menswear Award in 1985."
Pieces from his line are held in several museums most notably, the Museum of Philidelphia, Willi's hometown, and The Met. I have dated this pieces based on a similar label from that date found in The Met archives. Willi loved print and you can see that in this fantastic jumpsuit. It is cut to perfection with wide legs and a simple cut. The front plunges into a V that meets the band at the waist that gives it shape. It is cut high over the waist and skims over the hips. Each leg has that exact right amount of flare that makes your legs look a mile long. Sleeves that end in an elastic cuff so that they puff out a touch above are the perfect finish. For the girl bold enough to pull this off - this is your dream jumpsuit! Excellent condition.
Unlined and zips to to close at the back. Elastic at each cuff. The fabric is soft - like a very light flannel T-shirt fabric. Easy to wear and feels great on.
