This fabulous 1972 ultrasuede shirt dress is done in a beautiful cream color. These were THE thing to own in the 1970's - no one had seen this fabric before and they were all the rage! Similar examples are held in The Met's and the Museum at FIT's permanent collection and this particular one is actually the twin of one of theirs. The notes there state: "Wrapping, tying, and folding were all habits of mind for Halston. That the designer prized simplicity is evident in his most famous millinery achievement, the pillbox hat. In this Ultrasuede shirtwaist, perhaps his greatest dressmaking success, he offered a versatile sportswear icon in a new material, allowing for countless individual expressions through personal styling."

I love the that this one has such sleek lines and is so seventies in feel - the color is a simple neutral and the cut is fabulous. These can get stiff as they age but this one is still soft and supple. The waists on these are cut to skim over the torso but the original belt allows you to cinch it in for shape. I love the button front that allows you to use it as a layered piece or light coat as well as a dress. Hidden pockets allow for the perfect cool girl slouch. I have included here the photo from 1972 of Halston surrounded by models in variations of this collection and the photo of the dress held at FIT. Excellent condition.

This is one of the most coveted of all the Bill Tice designs. A version of it sits in the closet of countless celebrities. Lady Gaga recently wore a version, as have girls like Rachel Zoe & Nicole Richie among countless others. It is just one of those fail-safe pieces that you know is going to work every time you put it on. It is also insanely sexy with a cross over front that plunges almost to the waist. That said because of how its cut and the way it toes at the waist you can really control how deep the plunge sits once its on. It is made of a liquid cream jersey so feels amazing on and has the added bonus of traveling very well. It is the kind of piece you can throw into your suit case and slip on  with either flats or heels when you reach some far off destination and be perfectly ready to go. There is a high slit at one side that shows when you walk or sit and I love the signature wide top stitch gold belt attached at the waist that adds a nit of glamour and also allows you to cinch in the shape as much as you want. Excellent condition.

This is a great example of Donna Karan's early work and how she sculpted pieces to the body. It is also an extremely chic and wearable and makes an amazing impact once on the body. It is made of a stretch wool knit jersey that has a bit of weight to it that allows it to skim and mold to the body rather then cling and be unflattering. This fabric choice really allows it to move well and wear well. The cut is fantastic with a sexy, edgy feel to it. It has slim cut legs, skims over your middle and the neckline and sides are cut low and plunging in deep V's. I love how the legs of the jumpsuit especially. They are fitted through the butt and upper thighs that then narrow and end just above the ankle with that signature 1980s stirrup wrapping around the foot. Stirrup pants all over the runway for fall and this jumpsuit incorporates them fabulously. It is one of the best jumpsuits I have had in the shop. Excellent condition.

Unlined and the stretch fabric allows you to just step into it and slip it on. It has no closures. The fabric does have stretch so it will fit a range of sizes. It is tagged a vintage DK Medium

Azzaro was a beloved label and worn on a regular basis by women like Raquel Welch, Sophia Loren and Marisa Berenson. It was a label that defined sexiness and had a certain French flare that women world-wide loved. Loris launched his label in 1967 and quickly defined his trademark looks with colors, ornate beading and daring cut-outs and ways of defining the body. This is an amazing two piece set that is made of a perma-pleated, slinky jersey. The color is a deep true red and incredibly flattering on most skin tones. This outfit is so easy to wear and feels fantastic once on. The pants are cut incredibly wide through the leg so it almost looks like a maxi-skirt when on. This gives them lots of movement while still showing your curves as the fabric moves against your body in a swish of fabric. The waist and hip is defined and the cut sublime. The top is equally amazing and simply wraps into place with the attached, long ties at the waist. This allows you to really cinch in the waist and that, combined with those fabulously strong, structured shoulders are the perfect contrast and give you tremendous shape. . The front crosses over itself resulting in a dramatic plunge. Long, full sleeves with a cuff are the perfect finish. Excellent condition.

I have worn variations of this exact kimono for years now whenever I head out for the evening. It is the perfect pop of color over a dress and is light and luxurious feeling for evening. I have even in a pinch wrapped and closed with with a large pin (and sometimes I have just belted it) at the front and worn it as a dress. It is absolutely stunning. Made entirely of  silk, this wonderful kimono from Hanae Mori has dramatic color mixed with a pretty  and romantic print.  The red is that perfect shade that flatters most skin tones and the print is done in pretty soft blues and greys. It looks to have never been worn or used and would be perfect to use as wedding kimono or on your honeymoon, or to top an evening ensemble. Of course it also works as a lingerie piece. The print is hand screened and painted with hauntingly beautiful butterflies that flit across the surface of the silk. The butterfly is a Hanae Mori signature and I love that they are used with such romantic abandon on this kimono as they trail across its surface. Excellent condition

The kimono is fully lined with a pale soft purple/blue tissue silk and has no closures.  The fabric is signed throughout. There is slight color transfer on the interior lining but does not affect the exterior. Tagged a S but the open, loose cut will allow it to fit just about any size.

These long, slim dresses made of pure cashmere wool were a Halston staple and were designed for that chic modern woman to wear while entertaining at home or in an intimate setting. The wearer was able to move and be superbly comfortable, never worrying about getting wrinkled or being inappropriate or uncomfortable. Really these were one of his signature pieces and every chic woman had to have one. Variations were recently featured in the Museum at FIT exhibit "Yves Saint Laurent + Halston: Fashioning the 70s" In their notes on some of his work they mention these cashmere pieces:

"Halston’s use of historical elements to create new collections was sparing. Rather than re-interpret the designs of those who came before him, he made subtle allusions to those designers whose work he most admired. He was inspired by body-revealing activewear and the sinuous, bias-cut gowns of Madeleine Vionnet from the 1930s, while primary influences from the 1940s included the cashmere sweater sets of Mainbocher and the ingenious ties and closures employed by Claire McCardell"

The dress is full length and cut with long slim sleeves and falls form the shoulders in a column of red cashmere to the floor. The color is amazing - a true red that will flatter most skin tones. Versatile and beautiful, it is an amazing and rare piece of fashion history. Note that this is not perfect but does present very well. Please review condition notes below.

Unlined and slips on to wear. It is made from hand-loomed 100% cashmere made in Italy. There has been some old repairs done to the fabric. It could probably be re-woven properly and the value would instantly double. It could be worn as is and the larger area easily hidden under a belt. Please review the photo provided. This is priced at half the current market value with these small flaws present as is. The fabric does have stretch and due to he forgiving cut will fit a variety of sizes.

Pat Sandler opened his own label in the early sixties and quickly became known for his wonderful little cocktail dresses that often incorporated metallic fabrics like in this one, or embellishments. This particular set is amazing and I love the combination of pink and gold. Plus with it being two fantastic pieces you have the added versatility of wearing it as a set or mixing and matching with other pieces from your closet. The fabric is the star here and quite fabulous with an abstract dot pattern worked through the fabric in shades of golds and pinks with subtle pops of coral. I love the metallic lame thread and how it is used in different textures and weights to give the design extra dimension. The dress is a simple little mod shift with an A-line cut and ends above the knee. The collar is high and curved seaming at the front helps to create an illusion of shape and line. The coat is made of the same fabric and is also cut to above the knee. It widens as it nears the hem and has long, slim sleeves. Glittering, jewel encrusted button run down the front and I love the huge top set pockets on each hip. Despite the flap closure they actually open at each side. It is absolutely gorgeous in person - better even then the photos portray. Excellent condition

Both pieces are fully lined in a pink silky rayon. The dress closes with a back painted metal zipper and the coat has hidden set snaps up the front. The buttons are decorative only. Pockets on the coat but none on the dress.

Everyone knows Halston for his gowns but he also did these fabulous little day dresses with the same love of minimal seaming and bias cut mastery. Once you discover them it's hard to go back. This particular one is exceptional and is documented as well which is always a treat. Stripes ruled the runway for his spring 1976 collection and it was in this collection, and the following few, where you actually saw some prints worked in. Normally Halston's preferred a solid color palette so it is nice to see some patterns here and there. The dress is masterful in its simplicity. The minimal seaming that Halston was so very good at is combined with a light, scarf weight bias cut silk in a brilliant sunny yellow. The waist is elastic and the dress slips on for perfect ease. At the collar there is an attached tie that tops a deep front plunge - you can leave this casually looped and low like I have, or tie it at the neck for a variety of looks.

In the Phaidon Halston book there is a quote by Bob Colacello that states "His colors were so American, they were like out of a Crayola crayon box. Halston's red and purple and green were like true colors; they weren't pastels, they weren't dark, they weren't iridescent - they were very true and very American" Every time I look at this particular dress I cannot help but think of that quote with the color being so strong and true on this dress. Very fabulous and chic and absolutely heaven once on. Excellent condition

Unlined and slips on to wear with elastic at the waist for an easy fit. Hand finished. I see a teeny barely there smudge of a spot on one shoulder but it makes no impact on the wearibilty. The bias cut and elastic waist will allow it to fit a variety of sizes

This is an absolutely wonderful striped set by Marc Bohan for Christian Dior. I remember coming across a editorial or ad photo that documented this set but unfortunately have not been able to re-locate it. It is out there though so at some point I hope to be able to date it accurately either before its sold or will send a note to its new owner once that information is found. I love that it is a set as it really makes it versatile, especially as a travel piece. You can certainly wear the set together or break up the pieces and mix and match all three with other piece in your closet. The top, skirt and belt are all made of a light cotton with a touch of a polished finish that allows it to hold its shape. The vivid striped give it a dramatic and exotic feel that is quite wonderful. The top has elastic that runs through the shoulders so that it can be worn on or off the shoulder. It also has elastic at the cuffs so the sleeves keep that fabulous pouf. More elastic runs through the waist for shape and it also allows for a great little peplum to create even more shape.  All this sits over a skirt that is cut with yards and yards of fine cotton fabric so is very light but very full. It is finished with a flirty little ruffled bottom. The fabric belt can be used to  cinched in the waist even more and is cut wide to you get lots of shape. It is very bright and colorful and wonderful. Excellent condition

Both pieces are unlined. The top will fit a variety of sizes. It slips on over the head and has elastic at the sleeves, the waist and the neckline. The skirt closed with a zipper and button and the waist is fixed in size and not elastic. Hidden pockets along the hip seam of the skirt. The belt closes with hook & eye and is will fit to a 24.5" waist where hooks currently sit - you can move the a little to get more room if needed. I see a teeny tiny area of foxing on the skirt but that was laid out and fully flat and open. You can't see it at all when on because of the immense amount of fabric used.

This lovely dress is similar to another blue print one I have in the shop but this one is a little more casual and fun that the more formal secretary style of the other. I really love this one and think its quite wonderful. Prints and Yves Saint Laurent were always the perfect combination and on this little fine silk dress his prints are shown to its full advantage. A riot of multi-colored, bright flowers are scattered over its surface. The cut is pure YSL - the dress has fabulously full sleeves that puff out to just below the elbow. The bodice is cut loose and easy with a V neckline and the top of the dress softly blouses. It skims over the torso to a defined and seamed waist and then the skirt falls in a slim column to just below the knee. You could easily cinch in the waist more with a belt and in doing so you can change the length of the skirt if you wished it a little shorter. It is very pretty and I am sure this print was used in some of the ad campaigns so don't be surprised if it ends up being dated before it's sold, or that you get an email from me one day with that information if you are the girl who snatches this beauty up. Excellent condition

This is an amazing and fun jumpsuit by Halston that is one of those pieces you will wear to death. This is from one of his diffusion lines and it is the second one I have found over the years. It is made from a deep chocolate toweling fabric that has an almost velour finish to it. In the seventies this was very avant garde within the lounge wear. world with designers like Pucci and even Yves Saint Laurent producing pieces that their clients were buying for their jet set lives. Made to just be able to just throw it on, slip on a pair of sandals  or heels and you are ready to go. I love the wide, kimono cut sleeves and the equally wide cut legs. The waist is elastic so will adjust to fit any figure and the front zips as low as you want to dare. You simply step into it, zip and you are ready to go. It's fun and fantastic. Excellent condition.

Quad was a London Boutique that was part of that great British movement of the 60s and 70s. It opened in the 60s and their pieces were fun, young and often had a nod to the past in their cut and design. This piece is quite fabulous and very versatile. It is really a full length skirt with attached straps that curve over the shoulders and cross at the back. This makes it am amazing and striking piece to layer other pieces under to come up with endless styling options. The fabric is a light wool done in a bright red Tartan plaid. The waist sits fitted under the bust and then the skirt flares out form there and is very full. A great little piece that is very fun. Excellent condition

This is perhaps the most iconic of all of the Halston silhouettes and in 2016 it entered modern day fashion history when Kate Moss wore the twin of this exact dress on the red carpet at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. Halston was a master at this cut. There is a certain sexiness caused by the illusion of having the entire dress suspended by one hook at the shoulder. It gives the sense that undoing that hook would cause the entire dress to drop in a puddle around you (which it would). It is made with an inner dress cut from the same synthetic jersey that skims over the body in a long sheath and has a slit traveling up on side of the leg opposite to the draped side. Over this inner sheath lies a draped panel of jersey suspended from the shoulder that falls down both the front and back. This top layer hooks into place and then cascades loosely down and over the inner layer for the ultimate Grecian goddess feel. This is a classic and now even more iconic piece that is perfect for traveling as they are wash and wear and travel exceedingly well. Easy to style too - a quick change of shoe takes it day to night in a snap. Museum quality and really an exquisite gown. Excellent condition.

This amazing two piece set by Yves Saint Laurent is from his 1971 collection and combines his love of print and color that he was able to produce using his signature wool challis fabric. The set is especially fabulous and both pieces are an easy fitting, body hugging wrap design. Each is also printed with one of Yves signature prints and I love the strong use of color that the print gives the set. The base is a deep navy and onto that are little mod feeling medallions in teal, coral and white. The top is spectacular. It wraps to close with long attached ties at the waist. The sleeves are cut slim with cuffed wrists. The neck line can be adjusted to wear it higher or lower depending on how tight you tie and wrap it. The skirt is also genius with a pretty swing of fabric and wide set flat pleats all around. It also wraps over itself and hooks to close at the waist. Being two pieces it is very versatile and you will be able to wear these together or separate. Excellent condition

Both pieces are unlined. The skirt wraps to close with snaps and hook & eye at the waist. Note my client moved the closures over to make the waist smaller. You can easily move them to get more room if needed (probably up to about 4" even). The top slips on to wear and wraps to close with long attached ties at the waist. If you are familiar with YSL and his use of this fabric then you will know the color and print are one of his signature hues and that this is from one of the earlier collections of the 1970s. Both pieces are tagged 42 and I have given a range of sizes due to the waist note above.

I am always thrilled to find amazing examples from Halston, especially when they are as wearable and sensual as this one is. From the 1974 collection comes this wonderful  Halston that is made of layers and layers of his signature, bias cut silk chiffon. This feather light fabric is notoriously difficult to work with but Halston used with like a Master to envelope the body and accentuate curves. The front is kept very simple and sexy with a V-cut neckline at the front and tiny straps that curve over the shoulders. The skirt is incredibly full - if laid out flat it is a full circle with fabric to spare. All of the fabric that is in the skirt is cut on the boas so it falls in a sleek column when you are standing still and twirls and swirls as you move. It is made of three separate layers and this creates a beautiful floating effect. If you are taller it will hit you just above the ankle or just below for smaller girls. This makes it an incredible versatile length to play with. Its absolutely wonderful. Excellent condition.

The bodice is made from two layers of the silk chiffon and the skirt is made of three layers. It closes at the side with a series of snaps and has a flat hook at the waist.

I love this fun little printed cotton piece from the house of Hermes. The choice of fabric gives it an instant sense of luxury and chicness and that combined with the color and print are fantastic. The cut is very simple with wide straps and a loose shift shape. It makes a fantastic and chic little day dress or you can wear it to the beach or even as a more casual evening piece.  I love the bright sailboats and the printed logo at the side that proclaims it as Hermes if someone did not already recognize the sailboat print. It has a matching swatch of fabric that I used  as a headscarf for a touch of extra glam. It feels very jet set with that rich luxurious feel that house always seems to infuse into its goods. Really a wonderful and chic dress. Good condition with small notes below. 

Unlined and wraps to close with a series of buttons down the side as seen. There is the slight fading along the dark blue edges here and there with slightly more under each arm. The scarf edges are hand stitched and show slight fraying here and there.

This stunning silk kimono from Hanae Mori has a dreamy and romantic print in shades of blues that range from the palest of colors to a deeply saturated pastel. It looks to have never been worn or used and would be perfect to use as wedding kimono or on your honeymoon, or to top an evening ensemble. Of course it also works as a lingerie piece for the boudoir as well. It is just lovely and has such a romantic feel. The print is hand screened and painted with hauntingly beautiful butterflies that flit across the surface of the silk. The butterfly is a Hanae Mori signature and I love that they are used with such romantic abandon on this piece as they trail across the surface of the kimono. These are fantastic to wear at home and you can even make these work as a dress if you add a silk slip under it and cinch the waist closed with the matching sash. Excellent condition

The kimono is fully lined with an blue tissue silk and has no closures. It has its original belt and the the fabric is signed throughout. There are couple of small smudges here and there but nothing that detracts.

The Attico line has burst on the scene and rapidly is becoming one of the must have labels. Their website says of the two women behind the label: "Italian designers Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio, are combining their vastly different aesthetics to push the boundaries of specialty couture, launching their own line, Attico, in February, 2016. Attico, the Italian word for penthouse, is a collection of standout pieces inspired by the classic peignoir but designed to be flaunted. Dripping with artisanal detail, each piece embodies a woman from a different city, modern muses with nostalgic cigarette taste. Each piece will teach, too: how to make thrown together appear dressed up, dressed up feel everyday, and how to make every entrance feel like the entrance. Attico throws tradition on its head, making an antiquated concept contemporary, making chaste sultry, and seduction natural."

This is from the Fall 2016 and is an oversized canvas coat in an army green. The edges are left raw so it has a deconstructed feel. The sleeves are wide for a nod to the kimono and the skirt of the coat is long and sweeping with an excessive amount of fabric. The back has a panel that capes over the waist. This is meant to be layered over other pieces in an easy and luxurious way and sit oversized on the body. It still retains it original tags. Excellent condition.

This is a seriously fabulous jumpsuit by one of my favorite labels - the iconic house of Lanvin. In the late 60s and early 1970s these washable, stretch jerseys were the new miracle fabrics and Lanvin did an amazing range of items made from it in graphic and brilliant colors. Girls bought them in droves and they appealed to their younger, jet set clients who wore them to travel, dance in and pretty much everything else. You see the dress versions of these more often but I have a soft spot for the more rare and hard to find jumpsuits they did. This one, with its graphic black and white print and long, lean lines has to be one of the best I have yet to have. The black and white design covers the fabric from the top of the collar to the bottom of that fabulous hem of the pant legs. The print is set vertically so you get this wonderful long and lean line. It buttons at the front so you can choose to wear it as low as you dare. The sleeves are long and lean and the collar appropriately pointed. The original tie belt cinches in the waist and adds a pop of contrast since the print here is set black on white rather then the white on black of the jumpsuit. The final result is one long, supermodel silhouette. Excellent condition.

The jumpsuit is unlined and closes down the front with matching fabric covered buttons. It comes with it's original matching fabric belt. The jersey has some stretch and the measurements given below are the comfortable range when lying flat. It will fit a larger variety of sizes because of the cut and just be looser and more draped on a smaller girl and more fitted on a larger

I am a huge Hanae Mori fan and this jersey pant suit is perhaps not what you normally think of when you think of her work but is fabulous none the less. It is made up of a pair of wide legged pants and button front top with a matching fabric tie. The fabric is a wash and wear jersey that holds the graphic print well and is a dream to travel with. These jerseys would have been used to make garments to appeal to her younger, jet set clients. The set has one of her signature floral prints in a graphic black and white that covers the entire surface of the jersey fabric. I love the little pop of color scattered here and there with a bright little purple and pink bird topping her signature.The pants have an elastic running through the waist for an easy and comfortable fit. The legs are cut wide and full. The top is cut with with the perfect seventies line and has a pointed collar and button cuffs on the sleeves. The original fabric belt adds shape at the waist and finishes the look. Wear together for a strong statement or break up the set and wear them as separates with other pieces in your closet  for lots of styling options. Excellent condition

Both pieces are unlined. The pants slip on with an elastic waist and zipper and the top closes with buttons at the front. The original fabric tie is present and runs through attached fabric loops at the side of the top. Each sleeve closes with two buttons.

This bold and bright set by American couturier James Galanos perfectly illustrates the work he was doing in the early 1980s with its bold shoulders and dramatic cut. Galanos was known as the designer that could rival the French in terms of construction and design. He launched his atelier in 1951 and though he was never a designer that was formally made a true Haute Couture atelier, he certainly produced clothing with many of the hallmarks that define couture, thus giving him the status as being known as one of the "American Couturiers". I love the bright floral print that completely covers both of the pieces that make up this set. The silk chiffon fabric that he chose to use is wonderful and the lightness and airy feeling it creates is the perfect balance to the bold print. It moves beautifully once on and really gives the ensemble a sensual and luxurious feel. The top is cut like a jacket skims the body and has dramatic padded shoulders. These top equally dramatic and full sleeves. giving it a bit of a 1940s feel. Red crystal encrusted buttons run down the front. The pants continue that forties feel and are cut very wide with a full 60" circumference at the hem of each leg. So wide that if you are standing still it appears that you are wearing a maxi skirt. These are also made out of a bias cut silk chiffon. The waist nips in and the top can be worn tucked or loose. Excellent condition.

Both pieces are fully interlined  in a red silk chiffon with chiffon ribbon finished edges. The top buttons to close at the front and the pants closes at the side with a zipper at the waist. Appears unworn. Note the color is more of a cherry and pink feel in person. Also after photoing this I feel like perhaps the buttons could (or should) be meant to be at the back. I think you can wear it either way making tit that much more versatile.

Ot was around 1973 that Halston really embraced sequins and started to showcase them regularly in his collections as his clients asked for more evening pieces from him. The sequin technique he used during this time period differed from later collections. In these earlier pieces the sequins were laid onto the silk underneath completely flat and were placed side by side to each other. This makes the fabric extremely fluid and flexible while giving it a glossy, liquid finish. I have included a reference photo of Liza Minelli wearing a panted version of this suit that year

The glossy black sequins on this suit have been hand placed and sewn onto a silk chiffon base. The technique used to place the sequins onto the fabric captures the light as much as possible so that it really has a high gloss feel. His sequin pieces are incredibly well done and despite their lightness in weight, there is still a solid underlying structure to them. This suit is cut to follow every curve. The skirt has a banded waist and a simple cut that flares out slightly as it nears the hem. The jacket is cut to follow the body and plunges low at the front. It corses over itself and hooks. There is also an inner elastic waist stay that wraps around you and hooks to hold it perfectly place. Excellent condition.

Both pieces are fully lined in black silk. The skirt closes with a zipper and flat hook & eye at the waist band. The jacket hooks to close with a combination of hook and eye. There is an inner elastic waist stay inside the jacket that hooks to close. Minor sequin loss around the hook to close the waist

We do get double of pieces in the shop now and again, and sometimes it happens years apart and sometimes just a couple of weeks go by. I literally just listed (and sold) the twin of this just a few weeks ago. I was happy to have another land in the shop so soon. I have added a photo of one of our wonderful clients - Vi - who was shot in the version she bought for a styling feature she was in. I loved how to really took it outside the box and used it as a layering piece. I also added a photo of Erin wearing a cream version

Beene is one of the great American designers and I always look for his work. When I find amazing pieces from his earliest, Geoffrey Beene Boutique, days I am even happier. This fabulous full length, fitted black dress is an amazing find and with its shiny contrasting black buttons running down the front and big over-sized pockets, it feels shockingly modern. There is a memory tugging at me that says maybe Chanel did something remarkably similar in the 1980s and the recent Balmain pieces have this same vibe as well but this is the original. It is made from a wool knit jersey fabric that has a good weight to it and feels "high end" when on and holds the shape wonderfully as well. The large black buttons that run down the front give the dress a surprisingly modern feel and because they end just about mid-though add a little sexiness when you walk or move in the dress. I love the squared off bust-line and skinny straps in a matching fabric - I feel that if you wished you could even wear this one strapless and it would work amazingly. The front has four flap pocket buttons and the placement along the upper edge of the bust is brilliant. They also are all functional giving it a little tongue in cheekiness that only you will know about. Its simplicity is part of its appeal and it looks amazing once on. Excellent condition.

Fully lined in a high grade black silk and close with the front buttons. Proper tailored buttonholes and hand finished beautifully inside.

In 1958 Pierre Cardin went to Toykyo and ended up staying a month - he met his longtime muse, model Hiroko Matsumoto, who he invited to France in 1960, and made history when she became the first Japanese model to walk in the Paris collections. While there he also inked a deal with the department store Takashimaya, which led to Pierre Cardin becoming the first Western brand to be manufactured and designed specifically for the Japanese market.

This is an absolutely amazing and very rare and early piece from Pierre Cardin and that collaboration with the Takashimaya, department store in Japan. It is also an important and early rendition of what was to become a theme of his work in later collections with that attached looping of fabric at the front. The chic and simple lines that we covet from Cardin ware present and and again you can see how this was expended on later for the American markets. It is made of a fine, light wool crepe in the perfect red. The shape is wonderful and flattering - a simple A-line cut with a rounded neckline and sleek sleeves. A seam is set vertically across the front and from it dangles two flat loops of fabric that sit around each other. These early label Cardin for Takashimaya pieces came straight out of the Cardin Atelier. A rare find and a sound investment piece. Excellent condition.

This is one of those dress that you just know that every time you slip it on you will look and feel amazing. It combines Blass's signature simplicity and masterful draping with more then a touch of Studio 54 sexiness thrown in. The dress simply slips on and wraps and you use the black nylon jersey fabric belt to tighten and tie it onto place. That's it and that is all that keeps it on place. This gives it a bit of a scandalous feel when on and that combined with that fabulous red make for one sexy dress. The front plunges as it crosses over itself with you controlling where the placement of the fabric lands by how much you wrap the dress around you before you tie it at the waist. It is made of a liquid feeling nylon jersey so wraps and drapes to follow your every curve. The skirt is long and lean with pockets along each seam at the hip and the top blouses over. The wrapped styling allows the entire front to look like you could step out of the dress at any moment but it is designed to stay in place. It's old Hollywood meets Studio 54 sexiness. Please read the condition note below

Unlined and wraps to close with the original tie belt holding the dress in place. There are some marks that run up one side of the skirt. I have photoed it and the price reflects this. Still wearable and with the color and draping and placement of the marks I doubt anyone will notice. The measurements are taken flat across the back seam to seam but the easy fit and loose cut waist and with all the shape coming solely from tying the fabric belt make it easy to fit a range of sizes. More a true red in person

This fabulous 1972 ultrasuede sleeveless dress is done in a beautiful pale cream that has just the barest hint of yellow to it. These were the thing to own in the 1970's - no one had ever seen this fabric before and they were all the rage. Similar examples are held in The Met's permanent collection. In the notes  of similar pieces there they state: "Wrapping, tying, and folding were all habits of mind for Halston. In this Ultrasuede shirtwaist, perhaps his greatest dressmaking success, he offered a versatile sportswear icon in a new material, allowing for countless individual expressions through personal styling."

I love the that this one has such sleek lines and is so seventies in feel and yet still feels so very modern. Examples of these can get stiff as they age but this one is still soft and supple. It is a simple cut with a front zipper and no sleeves. The bodice skims to the waist and then the skirt flares out to the hem. All the shape is created by vertical seaming. It has its original belt which allows you to cinch it in for shape. That zip front sits below a squared off neckline and you can unzip it a bit if you wish.  Hidden pockets along the front seams allow for the perfect cool girl slouch. I have included here the photo from 1972 of Halston surrounded by models in variations of this collection and the photo of the dress held at The Met. Excellent condition.

What a gorgeous little coat that is so representative of the sixties. The fabric is just wonderful - it is a soft, pale yellow knit wool jersey that has enough weight to give it structure and hold the lines but without feeling too heavy when on. It is cut with simple and chic lines that are more fitted through the shoulders and sleeves and then it flares out perfectly as it nears the hem. The shape is defined through all that wonderful seaming that highlights the cut and gives it that mod feeling that Cardin was so known for. The buttons are a highlight all on their own and the contrast they give to the yellow is wonderful. Excellent condition

This 1960s Pierre Cardin dress is amazing. It is cut with scandalously high slits on each side making it more of a tabard in feel. This can be worn layered over something else whether it is as small and risque as a nude thong or a more conservative route with a trouser or skirt. The neckline is cut high with a defined collar and it is sleeveless. It then falls in two straight, extended rectangular panels on the back and the front. These panels fall right to the floor and a supermodel expanse of plush black velvet. The use of velvet gives it a rich, lush feel that captures the light and becomes a detail of its own. Inside it is lined in a black silk taffeta and this is hand set. It is an incredible, edgy avant garde piece and I would not be surprised to learn that it was meant to be worn on its own even with those incredible, waist high, slits. Excellent condition with one note below

This dress is stunning. It is from Jean Muir and incorporates her love of using leather touches within her designs - you often see this in her earlier pieces. The base fabric is made from a slinky, matte black jersey that gives the dress a bias cut feel when on and makes it very comfortable to wear. The skirt is dropped  and gathered into the low seam with soft pleats. This gives it fullness and movement and also has a nod to the flapper dresses of the twenties. The bodice is cut to skim over the bust and waist in a loose and easy fit. I love how the collar is squared off and panels of black leather define both the collar and shoulder. bands of leather wrap right over and around each shoulder and down and around the arm. On each cuff leather is used again to define the wide sleeves. It is fantastic and one of the best Muir's I have had. Excellent condition.

Unlined and closes with a back zipper. At the back neck is an elaborate wired frog knot closure. Hidden snaps are set under the leather at the top of the neck in addition to the frog knot.

An absolutely gorgeous Pucci dress with a sublime and chic color palette in soft blues and lavenders mixed with greys and off-white. It is made from his signature lightweight silk jersey and has one of his signature custom screened designs running over its surface. The sleeves are full and billow above the wide cuffs. These balance a bodice that is cut to skims over the bust and features a deep and sexy plunge. The skirt flows to the floor in a sleek and simple column. This is a classic Pucci silhouette that is instantly recognizable and very sexy despite it covering you from head to toe. I love the contrasting pattern at at the cuffs, neckline and front and that circles the easy cut waist. It zips up down the front and is so comfortable to wear. The print and colors all work with each other beautifully. This is a piece that will never go out of style or seem anything but appropriate no matter if worn for day or evening. It is a perfect example of what the best Pucci's are all about. Excellent condition with some small notes below.

Fully lined in a white stretch jersey and and closes with a front metal and nylon zipper. 100% silk jersey and does have some stretch. Tagged a vintage Pucci 12 but please check actual measurements. This has some extremely minor little marks and discolorations here and there as is normal with many older Pucci's. Nothing that would photo or distract and all get lost in the print but it is noted for accuracy.

A chic set from the legendary house of Chanel is one you will wear over and over. Both pieces are superbly simple in cut, and yet have a touch of sexy innocence to them. The colors are a mix of a deep blue with green and red checks set over the silk - one the skirt this is done in stacked boxes and on the top set on the side to create a diamond shape. The skirt is tightly knife pleated below the fitted waist and hips so it falls fairly straight but with tons of volume and swing when you move without adding bulk around your middle. The waist has a gold button at the waist to close and this is embossed with tiny double C's. The top is a soft cut that slips on with soft cap sleeves and alight padding through the shoulder to give then a touch of height. Each has a button cuff just above the elbows and this allows the sleeve to puff up above. I love the drawstring that runs through the waist of the top. It is cut to just hit the top of the waist band of the skirt but you could cinch it in and create an expanse of skin between if you wish. Excellent condition

The top is unlined and the skirt lined in a black, fine silk lining. The skirt closes with a button at the side on the waistband. The top slips with a button at each cuff and a drawstring though the waist.

I love this bright little Emilio Pucci for Formfit Rogers zip front caftan robe. It was of course meant to be hostess level lingerie when it was originally made but would be completely wearable as a maxi dress, or can be used as a chic beach cover up. These are a fabulous option to travel and vacation with and are easy to wear and wash. The colors used over the surface of this one is an amazing bright combination of pinks, blues and purples. If you are a Pucci collector you know how vivid his colors are and this color combo works fabulously. A string geometric design circles just above the hem for the perfect contrast. The nylon is and fluid and  light - it weighs mere ounces. The fabric is signed all through and is instantly recognizable as a Pucci. The cut is easy to wear with a plunge V at the front with a hook and eye that you can use if you want it a little more modest. Below that the caftan zips up the front to the waist. The loose and easy fit make it very comfortable. Excellent condition

The Resort 1977 collection by Halston was one of the few in and around these mid-late 70s period where he experimented with adding some prints into his collections. I found a runway photo in the Phaidon book on Halston with a garment with a similar print which is included here for reference. The asymmetrical neckline and spiral cut gives us further confirmation of the date as this was a theme he used in this collection and for the Spring collection. This neckline treatment has since become one of his signatures and is instantly recognizable as a Halston. The dress is cut on the bias, and also on a spiral pattern, which gives it virtually no seams. It also means it drapes and winds about the body perfectly! It is made of a fine scarf weight silk that it is almost weightless on. The cut is very simple - basically a T shape with wide caftan feeling sleeves. It simple slip son and drapes into please effortlessly. Its ease makes it very flattering and very easy to wear and you can style in a million ways. Excellent condition.

Unlined and cut on the bias. A button closure at the neck above the angled slit that follows the boas cut of the fabric. The bias cut will allow a fit on several sizes.

This is a gorgeous, and versatile little wrap dress by Mr Mort that has a beautiful print screened onto a plush cotton velvet. The Mr Mort label was at the height of it's success during the sixties and some of the ideas that Stan Herman,, the designer for the label during the 60s, were producing were pretty cutting edge, like putting dresses over pants. One can easily imagine that this is one of those pieces that he would have styled in that way. The way it wraps and closes makes it a close cousin to the coat and it could easily be worn on its own as a dress or as a layering piece. The velvet gives the colors deoth and richness and I love the muted but rich palette. The dress is cut s that it wraps over itself at the front and closes with a belt to add more shape if you wish. Long sleeves give balance to the shorter length of the skirt. Gold and purple metallic braiding is set in panels along the edges of the front and on each cuff with rhinestones scattered through that design for a little bit of glitz. It was a touch too tiny through the chest on the mannequin so is not closed properly in the photos but will of course sit even better on the right size body underneath. Excellent condition

The fabric is self backed and the dress closes with hidden snaps and hook and eye under the front edge. The front snaps could be adjusted a bit to give you more room through the bust if needed.

This Donald Brooks dress is gorgeous and a piece is from his main line. Brooks launched his label in 1964 and the earlier pieces from this time period tend to be dramatic and made from graphic feeling prints and fabrics that allowed his to really  create sculptural shapes. The skirt on this dress in particular is quite fabulous in its construction. The flare that you see is created by triangle shaped insets that run around the skirt. These panels create the volume you see and also add shape and structure so that the volume is held. The fabric has a graphic black & white floral print that covers its surface. The bodice is fitted to the waist and then opens into the skirt and this is all created by the seaming. The front has an unusual button closure that has a nod to the frog knot with sets of buttons in attached pairs slipping through finished buttonholes at the neckline. What an extraordinary piece. Presents as excellent condition with a note to review below

Fully lined in a white, hand set silk. The top closes with a series of  buttons down the front and there is a hidden set zipper at the back. I have priced this lower then what I normally would as there is alight grubbiness and discoloration along the bottom edge of the hem and the very slightest of yellowing that can be seen on close inspection around the hem area. This is all negligible once on but mentioned for accuracy and it definitely makes the dress a true bargain.

I have had the twin of this dress in the shop ages ago and was so pleased to have another become available. This is one of my favorite designs from Mr Beene and feels as fresh and wearable now as when it was first deigned.  The Geoffrey Beene Boutique label was launched in 1972 and I believe this to be from early on in that launch as you can clearly see the sixties influence in the design. The bodice is cut to skin over the bust with long, slim sleeves and a high neckline. The skirt twirls out from the waist and is amazingly full - it reminds me of a version of the skater skirt, or a 1950s circle skirt, and this fullness really allows it to move and swirl. The waist nips in above that full skirt for shape and balance. The fabric is a woven polished silk and has enough weight to help hold the shape and structure of the dress but is comfortable to wear. It closes with a zipper that runs down the front so that you could wear the neckline open if you wish. Excellent condition.

This wonderful little silk coat and dress set bears the Christian Dior New York label, making it a beautiful and early example of Christian Dior's work. The New York label is what I consider to be demi-couture from this time period of Dior's history. These where made in, and for, the American market but were based on the runway designs and with many of the same high standard finishes that the true Haute Couture pieces incorporated and based on the Dior Haute Couture collection. You can see a similar print from the 1958 collection in the reference photo included here. the set is wonderful as one would expect from early Dior and it is in remarkable condition. Both pieces, and the matching belt, are made of a rich printed silk in a beautiful floral print that makes one feel you have entered gallery of fine art each time you look at it. I have tried to capture the beautiful colors the silk fabric has screened onto it. In person the color is richer and deeper and has a real lush, rich feel to it. The cut of the dress is wonderful - it nips in at the waist with a slim pencil cut skirt under that. The bodice is kept simple with a graceful curving neckline that is set wide and is gathered along its edge for subtle detailing. The jacket that tops the dress makes me think of a short sleeved painters smock and I like to think that is intentional and a witty nod to the artistic print. It has a rounded collar buttons down the front. The front is cit fairly tubular and straight with big top set pockets on each hip. The back is cut full and voluminous to balance the slim cut skirt. The original belt snaps into place and is adorned with a flat bow that you can wear to the front or back.  Excellent, museum quality condition.

The dress is fully interline in a black hand set silk organza. The coat is lined in the same silk as the exterior with pockets on each hip. The dress closes with a back hand set painted metal zipper and the jacket with large fabric covered buttons. The buttonholes are properly finished. The belt spas and is adjustable and has additional hook & eye. It is stamped. The belt shows slight natural wear to the leather backing but the set otherwise appears unworn.

This is a wonderful example of the earlier work by Emilio Pucci and is also quite fabulous. The set is comprised of a fitted, sleeveless shell top and shorts that are also fitted in a way that highlight every curve but are not skin tight. Both pieces are made from a silk and nylon mix so it looks like a raw silk but has a touch of bias to the cut. The print is one of his earlier ones and is a series of little blocks set so they have a diamond shape and stacked to run over the entire set. The colors range from a soft pale pin to a more pastel fuchsia, purples and shots of coral. It is meant to fit and hug your cures and has that classic 50s cut. The top has molded and seamed with an inner cupped half bodice built in. The waist of the top nips in through clever seaming. The shorts are fantastic with a curved cut around the hips, boy short feel tot he leg and a high fitted waistband. It is very sexy and you can of course break up the set and wear each piece with something else for a variety of styling possibilities. Very rare and collectible. Excellent condition

Both pieces are unlined. The shorts close with a side painted metal zipper and the top closes with the saem type of zipper at the back. Inner boned half bra on the interior of the top. Note that on the inner bra you can see part of the coiled wiring on each side of the bust. This is deliberate so that they can be removed prior to cleaning - they basically sit in little "pockets". This inner bra is made of silk and had sewn into place. Hand finished throughout

This is an absolute stunning dress from 1998 Chanel runway. My client knew that it was a runway piece and after sifting through 100s of photos we finally spotted it in the photo added here for reference. Everything about it has that chic Chanel feel that makes many of Karl's designs classics forever. It is very beautiful in person and the simple lines and cut make it the kind of dress that you can wear multiple times and the styling and accessories you add will make it feel different each time. It is two separate pieces and each is made of light crepe chiffon in a milk chocolate color. The over layer seems to be able to be worn with the opening to either the back or front and I photoed it both ways for you (it was worn to the back on the runway). The inner dress is as simple sheath with a low plunging bodice made of a double layer of the fabric and is cut with a deep plunge, it has the feel of a bikini top in coverage. The skirt of the inner dress is semi-transparent because it is made of a single layer of fabric. Note that in person it is not as transparent as it photoed since the light made it more so. Over this you layer the outer overlay which is almost like a sleeveless jacket. It hooks at the neck and waist and has a ling attached tie that comes out from the neck that you can style many ways. A caped overlay sits over the top and it also extends into long ties that can be simple knotted or wrapped in as many ways as you can think of. It is the perfect mix of sexiness and elegance. Excellent condition.

The inner dress bodice is made of two layers of the silk crepe chiffon and the rest of the ensemble is unlined. The over lay has hook & eye at the neck and waist and the inner dress closes with a hidden set side zipper. Tagged a Chanel 36 from collection 98A

When I look for Pauline Trigere's work I am often drawn to the more flowing silk pieces that she did in the early to mid seventies. However, when I saw this wonderful dress whose label dates it more towards the end of that era, and perhaps into the earlier eighties, I had to have it for the shop. Trigere was known as a master cutter and she kept her business small the entire time it was open from the 1940s to the early 2000s. She ran the business herself all through that time period and was known to cut garments directly on the fit model. The photos are deceptive as they don't quite convey the texture and weight of the fabric and the cool, chic feel that the simple cut and immaculate seaming give the dress. The top is cut to be sleek and simple with molded bust created by curving seams and a curved fit over the waistline. It then skims past the waist and over the hips where it opens into a beautifully cut skirt that widens as it nears the hem. It is constructed from a textured, heavy silk linen in a natural tone that is cut on the bias. Excellent condition

Closes with a hand set side painted nylon and metal zipper. Lined in neutral silk muslin with the bodice backed in the same fabric as the exterior. Hand finishes throughout.

This fabulous little black dress is by Claude Montana. Montana designed for strong woman and his pieces always pushed the envelope and defined the female form as he wished it to be. This strapless number with its dramatic halter scarf neckline is gorgeous. The dress is a sleek sheath of jersey that has just a touch of stretch to it so that it is thick and structured enough to define shape but not so thick as to be heavy or uncomfortable. Montana was a genius at creating structure with this type of "bandage" jersey while still allowing the body to be able to move freely. These thicker jerseys that really allowed the designers to give pieces a more structural shape were a cutting edge fabric in the late 80s and early 90s - Tom Ford also used a version in some of his early Gucci collections. It holds you in and sculpts the body but without the elastic of a true "bandage" dress.  The bodice is strapless and a slit up the back center allows you to be able to walk. The neckline has a thin halter strap that glides around the neck and hook into place behind the center of the front bodice. A small loop is set in the center front and through this drapes that incredibly ling silk chiffon scarf piece. I have ties this up and around the neck but you could probably get clever and style this in numerous ways. Excellent condition

Unlined with an extra seamed, finished interior bust made of the same jersey as the body of the dress and light boning on the sides. Closes with a back metal and nylon zipper. Tagged a size 40.

Fernando Pena was born in Spain and ended up based in Miami where he ran a small independent couture house. He was known for his bold and striking evening wear which, like this dress, were pure drama and showed his love for beading and glitter. This is an absolutely stunning, full length silk net dress that is absolutely covered in beading. His dresses would have been made in his studio in very small and limited quantities and it shows in the workmanship in this dress. The dress is a fantastical confection of a cream and pale pink netting that has thousands of tiny glass tube beads hand sewn into place and following the vertical lines of the netting. These beads are done in rows of gold. pink and silver and the effect of all of this together is beautiful. Heavier bands of beads circle each cuff. Through the netting are panels of silver and pink lace - these are set seamlessly into the rest of the netting and give detail to the neckline, chest and hem. The shoulders are set with a high cap and the sleeves left long. It is truly magical. You will feel like a princess in this one. Excellent condition.

The outer dress is unlined so could be worn on its own over a foundation garment for a more sheer, bold feel. The inner lining dress is well made and made of a cream nude silk. The dress closes with a back painted metal zipper and each cuff has a small hidden set painted zipper. hand work through out. The cut will allow it to work on a range of sizes

In 1988 Yves did an entire series of draped gowns using slipper satin and these were made in a variety of vibrant, beautiful colors. This dress was done in a fabulous and flattering shade of purple and is a fabulous example of his mastery. This is a fabric that is very difficult to work with and its simplicity belies the difficulty in the cut. It literally wraps and hooks into place with two hooks and has an accompanying, matching fabric sash that ties to define the waist more. The nod to the 1940s is self-evident, a theme that you see so often in pieces designed by Yves, yet it does not feel dated, even now. The fabric is gathered into very soft pleats at all of the defining seams - along the shoulders, the cuffs and the waist - and this elevates the gown. It also places the fabric over the body in a way that the light catches it with the slightest movement creating the illusion of liquid and that the fabric is sliding over the body. I love it. Excellent condition.

Unlined and wraps to close with a large flat hook on the interior waist and one on the exterior. Each shoulder is lightly padded and the fabric tie belt is original. There is a button on each cuff. Tagged a vintage YSL 40. The fabric is cut on the bias so there is some give in the measurements

It goes on to note "The designer’s clothes aim to enfold the body, they are extremely subtle and the dialogue between garment and wearer is an intimate one. This is an otherworldly vision certainly but also a quieter one than might be expected from a designer famed for anything but that. Each piece has been worked on painstakingly – there’s not a fiber out of place. Clothing is clean but the detail absolute. A respect for tradition is here, as always, very much in evidence – the use of heavy tweeds and cashmere's in particular – but so too is a love of nature in the form of a preternaturally lovely orchid print used in a highly disciplined and sparing way."

From the "Pantheon as Lecum" Collection", this was Look 12 on the runway and this version was done in the purple fabric as seen in Look 50 (both shown here for your reference). The dress moves beautifully when on - if you view the video below you will see it on the model at about the 3:40 mark and you can see how it looks and moves. The base is a deep purple rayon silk mix that drapes beautifully on the body. It is cut to skim over your curves and the skirt flares out gently once past the hips. The sleeves are long and the neckline high and stark. Attached to the dress are draped panels of silk that go around the neck and down the back and then appear to circle the waist. Panels go around the hip and tie at the front - all done in a way to accentuate and add to a woman's curve. His genius tailoring is evident. Museum quality. Excellent condition.

Unlined and slips on to wear with a hidden set back zipper. Tagged a 46 but please check actual listed measurements as McQueen runs small. The fabric does have some stretch.

The silk chiffon used for the outer layer of this dress is so fine and light that it seems almost an impossibility that it is so densely covered in the beads and sequins that adorn its surface. The workmanship is exceedingly fine and well done and the final result reminiscent of the fine work done in the 1920s. It is made of two pieces that layer over each other, though I have photoed it with and without the inner silk layer so you can see the work on the outer dress more clearly. That outer layer is covered with hand applied,  teeny tiny glossy black sequins mixed with dense 3D raised areas of bead work. Through the midsection that bead work and the sequins become more elaborate and the pattern denser and it is hard to imagine that this is all done on such fine silk. The cut its easy and it skims over the body with an air of elegance and refinement of past eras. This sits over an inner silk slip dress that is well made enough that it could be worn on its own as a dress. This is exceptional bead and sequin work that is all done by hand.  Excellent condition.

The interior dress is a separate silk chiffon sheath that acts as the lining. This inner layer closes with a back zipper and is bias cut. The exterior dress is semi-sheer and closes with a hidden set zipper at the back. All the bead and sequin work appears to be done by hand. Hand finishes throughout.

This is an early rendition of what would go onto become one of Ossie's most famous and recognizable designs. The version held in the Victorian and Albert Museum dates to the 1970 collection but I believe this version with a cuffed sleeve is a little earlier and dates to the 1969 collection. It is based loosely on a "graduation" gown mixed with the flowing softness and drape he was renowned for. Of course there is his signature dash of sexuality with that low front plunge. The front plunges to a deep square that is cut right to the empire waist. An attached tie wraps around and gives the gown and the wearer shape and keeps the plunge from moving out of place. The skirt flows from the front gathers under the neckline and from the shoulders at the back. It cascades to the ground and is balanced by huge sleeves that puff up above each cinched wrist. This dress is unusual in that the fabric is not the standard moss crepe that is used in the version of this dress with the wider cut sleeve. Rather it is a soft, light, wool T-shirt weight fabric that feels insanely comfortable once on. This label is from the couture Ossie Clark line and it also has the Jeeves Dry Cleaning, Quorum recommended, tag. The Ossie collector will instantly recognize just how important this dress is and speaking from personal experience since I own one myself, it is a dress that you will wear over and over. Excellent, appears unworn, condition.

Simonetta Visconti opened a design studio in in 1946 and quickly became a favored designer in her native Rome. In 1952 she married fellow Italian designer, Alberto Fabiani and the label grew and prospered as Italian couture designers were among the favore d of the jet set of the era. In 1962 they opened a short tlived  label together Simonetta et Fabiani and by 1965 she was back to her own label and lived in Paris until she sold the label in 1972. This dress dates to those Paris days and showcases Simonetta's more refined aesthetic and love of evening wear. The dress is made of layers of lace on a black net backdrop. The black net used as the base has a touch of transparency which gives the dress a very unique feel when you move. A brave girl will wear something underneath meant to be seen and those more demure can wear a slip. The cut of the dress is simple with tiny straps, a straight across neckline and sheath like cut that skims over the body. Over this pops a little cape that is made of the same lace and net. This has an elastic that runs through its top that lets you wear it low on the shoulders or higher on the neck. You could wear it over one shoulder only or, I think you could even scoot it down to the hip and create a peplum feel. It is very versatile. Excellent condition

Unlined and closes with a back zipper. It has a built in bra that shows some wear - this could be removed altogether and you could just wear your own garment underneath. The cape has elastic around its upper edge.

The early seventies saw the house of Lanvin dive full on into the bright and riotous colors of the era and they produced some of the best of the bright, full length maxi dress that you could ask for. This one is particularly great with it's bright and colorful design that features, of all things, giant stylized tomatoes, both whole and cross sectioned, on a black jersey backdrop. I love the long lean silhouette of the dress and the way the vivid colors pop off the jersey and the giant print takes on a art feel. The bodice of the dress is a simple halter style with the straps that curve up and over the shoulders. A second set of straps can be ties around the neck for a clever double strap feel or ties in a bow at the front. The neckline is kept rounded and a keyhole sits at the front for a subtle flash of skin. It looks to have never been worn and the fabric is virtually wrinkle resistant so it is perfect to travel with and wear with no fear of wrinkles. Gorgeous and unique piece. Excellent condition.
