• This dress is from the McQueen's Fall 2008 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
• This is the actual dress worn by Connie Britton to the 2024 Emmys.
• The fall 2008 collection was called 'The Girl Who Lived in a Tree' and it was inspired by a combination of his trip to India and a 600 year old elm in his garden.
• The V&A Museum says of this collection: 'McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2008 collection centered on a fairy tale narrative devised by McQueen about a girl who descends from a tree to marry a prince and then become a queen. It was inspired by a 600-year-old elm tree in the garden of the designer’s Sussex home. At the center of the set stood a giant tree swathed in fabric, inspired by Bulgarian artist Christo, who is renowned for wrapping buildings with material.'
• You can see a similar swooping cut that the final pieces of this show had.
• The dress is made out of a beautiful rich black silk and is cut with a sculptural line combined with that bias cut draping.
• Inside there is a more fitted dress and then the length is created by a long panel of black silk that is attached around the neck line and drapes over the inner dress. 
• The dress is strapless and there is a full built-in cupped and boned corset that holds the dress in place and gives you support. The way that the silk panel is draped over the inner dress allows one side of the inner dress to be seen. 
• The part of the inner dress that can be seen was then elaborately finished with hand done embroidery and beads done in a stunning floral design. I took several photos holding the draped panel away from the inner part of the dress so you can see how the beading extends even underneath the panel that lies over top of it.
  
• The silk panel that sits over this beautifully constructed inner bodice falls around you all the way to the floor on one side. On the other side, the silk is gathered up so that it drapes down and around you. This is a classic and signature McQueen silhouette, and is absolutely stunning once on the body.
• The dress is a beautiful mix of exposing just enough of the shape of the body so you don't lose your shape completely while at the same time it showcases the exceptional tailoring skills that he excelled at and how he could control the draping exactly how he wished it to fall.
• I love how the draping slightly exaggerates the shape of the body. No matter what angle you see this dress from once it is on there is an interesting drape or an elaborate beaded detail.
• Inside, an inner black silk lining goes to just above the knee and there is a built in inner corset that is lightly boned and cupped. The corset has its own back zipper to close and then the dress zips to close over that with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This amazing sequin dress is from Mackie's 1980s boutique label.
• It was made under the creative direction of Bob Mackey.
• This is the actual dress that Sarah Snook wore to attend the Director Guild Awards in March 2022.
• Mackie was best known for dressing Cher and for his signature glamour. He worked for both Edith Head and Jean Louis prior to entering costume design and he began by co-designing with Ray Aghayan. That led to his incredible journey in designing for stars like Cher and Diana Ross for many years before launching his own label.
• His work always has that touch of the best of Hollywood glamour.
• The dress has an incredible pattern done in sequins that allows the entire dress to catch the light from every angle.
• The sequins are a glossy black and are set in vertical rows set into rectangular sections over the dress. In between the sections he left bands of the fabric with no sequins to create horizontal and vertical lines.
• The sequins are set so that they slightly overlap the next sequin in line. There are thousands of sequins on this dress.
• The dress is strapless and it is cut to hug the body through the bodice. Inside the waist is cinched and the sequins curve over that inner structure. The inner corset is cupped and boned to hold the dress in place and add shape.
• The dress skims over the hips and falls to the floor, widening out as it nears the hem with a little flare. At the back it is cut longer with extra fabric there to create a little flare. So when you walk you get a little kick of fabric behind you.
• The fabric has a slight stretch to it so it is very easy to fit and comfortable to wear.
• It has a very classic Old Hollywood movie star feel to it. This is a dress that you just slip on and go.
• The bodice has a built in inner corset that is cupped and boned. The rest of the dress is unlined. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. When it was borrowed by Sarah's styling team they added a wide stay under the bust and another around the inner waist. Both hook to close and I have left them in place because it gives extra support. They also temporarily turned the hem up to accommodate her height and it has been let back down to be its full original length. There is one tiny area along the very top edge of the neckline near the zipper that has a couple missing sequins and perhaps a missing sequin here and there. • This stunning Valentino wedding dress is new with tags and was never worn. It is beautifully made.
• The wedding collections are not as well documented as the regular collections so dating them is a little trickier but this is most likely from the late 2010s.
• It is a beyond gorgeous for the bride looking to make a chic and elegant statement.
• This is a stunning dress. Tiny matching silk straps curved up and over each shoulder. It is cut fairly straight across the neck line and skims over the bust to the waist in a simple silhouette that has the perfect classic feel to it.
• Centred and tacked into place at the front of the bodice is a large flat bow that is made out of the same silk. I love the nod to the 1950s that this gives the dress while still staying thoroughly modern in feel.
• From there the skirt falls to the floor and widens out dramatically as it nears the hem. For the majority of these photos I have added a light crinoline underneath so that you could see how full the skirt is. We also shot it with no crinoline underneath so you can see how it naturally falls. I think that if you wanted it to be even fuller you could easily achieve that by adding a very full underskirt.
• The skirt is a work of art. It is done in an incredible 23 layers of ruffled bands of the same silk alternated with a lace in a matching colour. I love that this gives it an almost petticoat feel that is purposefully meant to be seen.
• Each stacked band of either the silk or lace gradually gets fuller around as they near the floor and this is what creates the volume of the skirt that you see.
• All of that volume gives you incredible movement while still maintaining structure so the general shape and fullness of the skirt is not lost when you move. The way this moves around you is magical.
  
• The dress is fully lined in a matching silk and closes with a hidden set side zipper. It has its original hang tag attached.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1979 Chloe collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld. 
• This is an incredibly rare and very well documented dress from one of the most creative and forward thinking collections that Karl did for the label. 
• In the book 'Chloe Catwalk', Vogue was quoted as saying "The clothes that Karl Lagerfeld designs for Chloe are the natural results of the world he creates, and if they sometimes seem to be from other times, it is because those other times have as much reality for him as rain and taxes have for the rest of us. You can love Karl Lagerfeld's clothes, you can hate them. See them once, and you can't forget them." The Japan Times called it "A trend setting collection". The Glasgow Herald said "Karl... takes the Edwardian Gibson Grill as his inspiration; hour glass shapes - curved bosom, tiny waists, swelling hips". 
• US vogue also commented that "Women collect Lagerfeld by the piece, not by the wardrobe"
  
• It is incredibly well documented and an extremely rare piece of Chloe, from an outstanding collection, and exemplary example of the history of the brand under Karl.
• The dress is made from a feather light silk chiffon in a deep ivory. In person, the ivory is a touch deeper than how it photoed here. Onto this are hand applied rows of lace and strings of faux pearls.
• The sleeves are long and they have added fabric built inside the shoulder area to help hold some volume ad the slight cap around the upper arm. They are full all the way down to the wrist where they explode outward with a cuff made out of four layers of the angle edged lace. Circling each wrist, and circling where the sleeve is set into the bodice, are a string of larger size pearls. Smaller size strings of pearls follow the lace that runs down and wraps around the full length of each sleeve.
• The neckline is high and like the cuffs, it is made out of multiple layers of the lace that are stacked on top of each other to create that dramatic ruff around the neck. It wraps over itself at the front and sweeps out to meet one shoulder.
• The bodice is cut to skim over the bust to the dropped waist. Multiple panels that mix the lace and strings of pearls are set diagonally over the bodice and around the back, highlighting the sweep of the collar above.
• The waist is dropped and seamed with a slightly more generous cut. It was not shown with a belt on the runway, but if you wanted to add shape, you certainly could belt it at the natural waist for a more defined silhouette.
• The skirt curves over the hips and it is a gathered all the way around the waist in a series of tiny pleats. These allow the skirt to open up underneath beautifully to help create that hourglass feel that was so prominent in this collection. Four more rows of the lace are set in the same angle all the way down the skirt but without the pearls. It is the perfect added detail and ties the whimsical feel of the entire dress together. A final layer of lace circles the bottom hem.
• At the back, the dress buttons to close with a series of large pearl buttons. These buttons are the largest pearls that we see on the dress and I love that he has used three sizes of pearls for this piece. These are the perfect finishing touch. 
• The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk. It closes with the buttons at the back. Hand finishes throughout with most of the inner seams finished completely by hand to couture standards. The lining through the upper body is starting to split in places. I see a couple of minor marks on the outer dress and some of the lace around the upper shoulders and neck line have darkened slightly. There are added panels around part of the inner lining where part of the inner lining was reinforced. Please see the photos after the label shot. These are all mentioned for accuracy but most of the flaws are inside the dress. Given the rarity and importance of this dress it is still considered to be in excellent overall condition.

• The twin of this dress was shown for Look 37 for the Fall 2010 Valentino collection.
• It was made under the creative design of both Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. 
• Its twin was also worn by Fan Bingbing at Cannes that year. 
• This is one of their earlier collections after stepping into Mr Valentino's shoes and I love that they stayed true to the label's heritage by using a classic Valentino combination of silk chiffon and ruffles for this dress. 
• This dress was the second to last look of the runway collection.
• The dress is made out of a feather light silk chiffon done in a pale pastel salmon pink that is an exceptionally pretty colour. This fabric choice keeps the dress extremely light in weight and easy to wear.
• The elastic neckline is set wide across so that it sits fully off of the shoulders. I love how this leaves the top of your shoulders completely bare and exposed. Because the neckline is finished with elastic I believe that you could wear this on top of the shoulder if you wished.
• A wide 11" ruffle follows the entire neckline and gives it the prettiest flounce all the way around you. The width of the ruffle falls slightly over the waistline and this creates a pretty caped to the upper part of the dress.
• Underneath the ruffle the bodice skims down to the more generously cut waist. On the runway, and on the red carpet, a little brooch was added to one side. If you liked how this looked it would be easy to re-create with your own jewelled piece.
  
• The skirt is covered in a series of ruffles. Around the hips and waist they are set on a slight angle that runs down one side and and they are stacked horizontally along that angle. Under that, long vertical ruffles run the rest of the length of the skirt all the way to the hem.
• The incredible amount of ruffles covering the skirt combined with the lightness of the fabric gives you the prettiest movement when you move. 
• This is an absolutely stunning dress and this particular cut of dress is one of my favourites.
• The dress is fully lined in a marching coloured silk and closes with a hidden set side zipper. The neckline has elastic running through its edge. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway as Look  53 for the Pre-Fall 2012 show.
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta 
• Vogue said of the collection that "For Spring, Oscar de la Renta gave us a refresher course on all the reasons we love him. The taffeta ball skirts! Those handkerchief lace dresses! The embellished gowns! ...Chief among them were a series of dresses, both to the knee and floor-length, cut from crinkled and pleated silk. Whisper-thin and nearly weightless, they're the kind of frock you'll turn to again and again when the weather warms: fabulous, but also easy."
• The twin of the dress was also the choice of the night for Sarah Jessica Parker, who wore one to the amfAR gala that season.
• The dress is made from a lightweight romantic and feminine shade of pink silk. The silk has a slight crinkled texture running through it that has visual interest. The skirt has also been soft pleated so that you see the suggestion of a pleat but it was never intended to be a sharp defined pleat. 
• The bodice is simple and easy to wear. The neckline is cut into a rounded curve and there are no sleeves. It has been lately top stitched all the way around in vertical lines, and the slight crinkle texture has been set on an angle. The neckline is made out of the same fabric that has been rolled and twisted into a piping detail.
• It skims over the bodice in an easy fashion and then it is cinched in around the waist by a wide band in the same pink silk. The band is stitched into place and fully built in to add shape and a touch of structure to the soft silhouette.
• The skirt cascades to the floor from there and is cut at different lengths all around you. It comes up at the front, angles down to be longer on each side of the front and then scoops back up at at the sides. The back is then cut in the perfect soft train so that you get a tremendous sweeping feel as you walk away.
• The silk of the skirt is stocked over a second layer of a pale pink, almost weightless silk, and this lets the skirt float over and around the body to give it the feel of airiness and lightness. The lightness of the silk gives it a gorgeous movement when you move and walk. You can easily see this in the runway reference video. 
• The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk and it closes with a back set zipper. The pink is slightly more pastel in person. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This dress is from Fall 2008 collection and is a piece that would have been produced for the shops.
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• The Collection celebrated the 1960s with Simon & Garfunkel's 'Mrs. Robinson' for the opening music. The models were styled with a nod to the 1960s but in a highly exaggerated way.
• Galliano said of the show "I am always looking for heroines who make me dream"
• The dress is made from a muted silver coloured silk. The silk is a beautiful weight and is just heavy enough to keep the shape that he wanted without it feeling too heavy.
• Straps extend outward from the middle of the front and curve over each side of your neck and then are angled back down to connect in the centre of the back.
• The bust is peaked and shaped. Inside it has a bit of a slightly stiffened lining to help hold the shape and mold it over the breasts. The fabric is softly pleated to angle in towards the centre where part of the silk extends out and is twisted to form a pretty 3D flower.
• From under the seam of the bust it falls over the body with a more generous feel. The silk is gathered in and pleated on one side and it does the same on that same side around the back. It has a more generous cut over the waist and hips. The bottom skirt widens out as it near the hem.
• The fabric at the hip on the opposite side of the pleating has been gathered and twisted to form too large flowers. These are a pretty extra detail and tie in the flower at the bust. They also are a clever way for him to have controlled the draping and the way the dress sits over and around you.
• The bit of flare on the lower skirt creates a pretty bit of movement around you when you move.
• The dress is fully lined in the same silver silk and closes with a hidden set side zipper. I see a couple of small faint marks underneath the bust area near the pleats. Please see the photo after the label shot. It does not detract from its wearability but is mentioned for accuracy.

I have a small grouping of Chanel pieces that will be listing over the next week or so and they all come from an avid Couture and Chanel collector. Many of these pieces were extremely difficult to source when they were released and were only made in very limited quantities. They are in amazing condition and all but one have their original shop packet that has the extra fabric and style information. These are exceptional pieces for the collector and each is extremely special.

This is a suit pieced together from the actual Chanel sample jacket for this look and then the pants were purchased at retail by my client. It is incredibly rare to find a sample piece so that is a little extra special. The twin of the suit was worn for Look 13 for the Chanel Métiers d’Art show. The show was set in the  Hamburg concert hall and that setting held an extra special place for Karl since it was his hometown. The concert hall had just been opened and for this show Karl mixed the modernity of the new space with his memories of Hamburg as a child “I’ve never left; this is part of me,” he reflected after the show. “I like Hamburg as an idea; something in the back of my mind.” Vogue noted 'You saw what that was, the essence of his inspiration, in a flash: Sailors in peaked caps on leave, girls in thigh-high boots and leather, the people who mill around docks and nightclubs. The clothes evoked ’60s beatniks, countercultural girls in sweaterdresses, smartly dressed officers in uniform, and naval ratings in sailor pants—looks that ran up and down the register of the cool, the hip, and the immaculately classic. It was an obvious, simple idea, really, but one marinated in a mind that has the sophistication to align the results with Coco Chanel’s heritage, and with what any girl would absolutely kill to wear right now.'

The lines of this suit are crisp and sharp and the tailoring is immaculate. Both pieces are made out of a pinstriped virgin wool that allows them to retain the exact lines that Lagerfeld intended while still staying light in weight. The jacket is cut so that it is fitted across the shoulders and then falls in a more box shape to the top of the hips. The collar is neat and small and I love how there is an inset of a white waffle weave cotton for a crisp little pop. That same little pop of cotton is set within each cuff so that it feels perfectly tied together. It buttons to close up one side and the buttons themselves are incredible. I took a detail shot so you can see that they are especially done with both Paris and Hamburg noted on them. The bottom hem is banded and there is a little top set pocket on one side. Each sleeve is long and straight and they end in a notched slit held by a button rather than a traditional cuff which falls in line with the sleek minimalist feel of the rest of the suit. Beside the little pop of white at the end there is also a little 'hidden' surprise of another functional pocket that sits at the end of the one sleeve nearest the pocket on the front. I am obsessed with this little detail. The pants are sleek and simple in their cut. They are flat fronted with a slanted slip pocket on each hip under the waist band. Two more pockets are at the  back and each is still tacked shut. The legs fall wide to the ankle with just the tiniest bit of a flare at the ends. Each leg is finished with a precise wide cuff. The inside of the suit is as immaculate as the outside and it is lined in a deep grey silk embossed with the Chanel logo. A signature Chanel chain runs along the inner hem of the jacket. Every stitch is perfection. Excellent condition with a minor note below. 

The jacket is lined in a grey Chanel embossed silk and closes with the buttons along the front panel as seen. It has a Chanel sample label and is tagged a modern Chanel 38. A pocket on the front and on each cuff. Metal embossed buttons and the signature Chanel chain around the inner hem. There is slight yellowing and grubbiness on the inner collar of the Chanel. The pants zip to close at the front and have hidden hook & eye at the bands. Slip pockets on each hip and two tacked shut pockets at the back The pants have their original Chanel packet and are tagged a modern Chanel 40

• This is a limited edition piece from the Spring 2016 Dolce and Gabbana collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
• This amazing playsuit was only available as a special order piece. It was not a runway piece,but the embroidered magic mirror was a part of the runway show and we have included photos here for your reference.
• The level of detail on this piece is very in line with their Alta Moda work. All of the embroidered pieces were done separately and then hand applied to the dress. It is truly a work of art and showcases the very best of the DG workshops.
• The base fabric is a beautiful gold brocade that uses three different tones of gold applied in a slightly raised pattern on a mixed ivory and gold thread backdrop. The slight raising of the pattern gives it a beautiful tactile feel.
• Wide straps curve up and over each shoulder and the front bodice is cut and shaped in a nod to a corset. Seams curve down and into the waist and at the back there is an inset of a stretch corset fabric in black. This makes it easier to fit and offers a pretty contrast to the gold. Inside it is lightly boned and shaped for support around you.
• Embroidered black and gold cut out embellishments with gold sequin detailing have been applied onto and around the bodice. At the front they follow the dipping neckline and are set to extend off of the playsuit around the straps. At the sides they are set so that they actually sit up and off of the fabric as they curve around the sides. They continue around to the back towards the zipper at the centre.
• The waist is seamed and then the shorts curve out from there to skim over your hips. The legs are wide and each one is a full 28" around. I love that the way they are cut makes it feel like you are wearing an ultra mini at first glance but you have the security and ease of wearing shorts. Slant pockets sit at each hip.
• Set on an angle at the front is an embroidered and gold sequin mirror that says "who is the most beautiful" in script. This is the detail that was also seen on the runway for that season.
• The final perfect finishing detail is the little heart emblem at the neckline. It has a red velvet backdrop and DG in a metal font applied onto it.
• The playsuit is backed in a black silk through the bodice. It is lightly boned for shape and the shorts are lined in a black silk. It closes with a back zipper and the panel of black corset fabric across the back has a slight touch of stretch. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this jumpsuit walked the runway for the Fall 2019 Gorgio Armani collection for the Look 80.
• It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
  
• This is from his main label and its twin was also seen on both Cressida Bonas and Kelly Chen. I love having the reference photos so you can see how phenomenal it is once on the body.
• The Fall 2019 show was co-ed with both male and female models on the runway. Vogue said in part that "Armani served a pre-millennial nightclub’s worth of smoky whorl and twist." Velvet, beading and wide silk bands were integral to the looks in the show.
• The base fabric of the jumpsuit is an inky black velvet which gives the beading  added on top of it a luxurious background.
• The neckline is high and finished with black silk piping. The shoulders are soft and slightly dropped. The arms narrow slightly at the wrist where they are also finished with black silk piping. At the back the fabric wraps over itself to button and snap into place along the neck line. Very interesting way to close the piece.
• Starting at the centre of the neckline is a black silk ribbon that is 2.5" wide and it runs all the way down the front to the waist. A second ribbon is attached under that to wrap around the waist and tie at the front so that you can cinch in as much shape as you want. It can be worn with the waist left more generous and open, or very cinched.
• On the runway, and in the reference photos, you can see that it the bodice is split completely open down each side of the ribbon. That split is technically. there on this one as well but it is currently tacked closed with an added modesty panel under the lower half of it inside. If you wanted the full split feel of the runway, it would be very easy to reverse this and have it completely open on both sides all the way to the waist. If you preferred it open just let me know upon purchase and I can have my tailor do that for you.
• It skims over the bust and is cut generously around the waist for a easy to fit feel. The waist is finished with hidden elastic since there is no closure on the jumpsuit and you just simply slip it on to wear.
• From under the waist it curves out over the hips and then the legs fall in a wide straight cut all the way. They are very wide and that, combined with the ease and drape of the velvet, gives you gorgeous movement as you walk and move. They are a full 26" around the hem of each pant.
• Applied onto the jumpsuit is an intricate script pattern done in little faceted jet beads that are applied directly onto the velvet. These add the perfect amount of sparkle as they catch the light from every angle. If you look closely you will realize that they are his signature.
• I have taken close-ups of the extraordinary amount of bead work that has been done to make these. It is really exquisite workmanship.
• Hidden set pockets sit on each hip for the final perfect detail.
• The jumpsuit is fully lined in fine black silk. It slips onto where and then buttons and snaps around the back of the neck line. It appears to have been worn very little at all.

• A version of this set walked the runway for the Spring 2006 Giorgio Armani, collection for Look 54.
• It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
• This is from his main label and Vogue said of the dresses "Finely layered chiffon and tulle, picked out with minute embroideries of bugle beads and sequins, qualified each one as a singular piece of signature Armani... With this collection, the designer said that he had resolved to focus on what women really wear today."
• This is a set made up of two pieces which I love because this gives you the ability to mix and match them with other things from your wardrobe.
• The top combines two layers of silk chiffon with an attached layer of netting that floats over both of those layers. It is suspended from the shoulders by two straps that have been finished with tiny silver tube beads stacked in rows. These circle the neckline and then the entire top is finished with a combination of silver sequins and beads across the front. I absolutely love the flower and butterfly pattern. With the net floating over top the sequins and beads have a  slightly diffused feel and it is so pretty.
• I have taken close-ups of the extraordinary amount of bead and sequin work that has been done to make the design. It is really exquisite hand workmanship.
• The front neck line is scooped into a V and the back is finished in a wide shallow scoop. I love how this leaves a bare expanse of skin around the upper shoulders.
• It skims over the bust and is cut generously around the waist for an easy fit. The hem is cut on an angle that dips down on one side and this mimics the way that the skirt and ruffles are cut underneath.
• The waist of the skirt is finished with a small black piping and then it curves out and over the hips all the way to the hem. The hem is so interesting because it is cut on a sharp angle that falls shorter on one side and then is substantially longer to fall to the floor on the other. 
• The inner layer of a skirt is a silvery grey colour and then black chiffon is set in ruffles over that. The ruffles that are stacked on top of each other and set to follow the same sharp angle of the hem. It has amazing movement once on. As good as the photos are I think it is even better in person.
• The top has a lining of black silk chiffon and the skirt is lined in a grey chiffon netting. Both the skirt and top close with hidden set side zippers. Both pieces appears to have been worn very little at all.
• The skirt is tagged a vintage Armani 40 and the top has no size tag

• This is a great vintage Mugler piece that is wonderfully minimalist in feel and easy to wear.
• It was made under the creative direction of Thierry Mugler
• The jumpsuit is made out of a soft black silk that has a beautiful soft drape to it.
• The cut is very simple and easy but at the same time the lines make it feel dramatic and a true statement piece. It is that perfect mix of being very minimalist yet very striking.
• The neckline scoops wide across the front and then that scoop continues down into an open V at the back. A panel extends out from one side of the V and wraps across the back and comes to the front. The fabric is gathered into a loop at one side of the waist that has an opening underneath. The panel from the back loops through that opening and snaps into place to create the knot detail at the waist that you see in the photos. This is a very clever way to keep the front feeling minimalist but with an unexpected detail. I also love the bare flash of skin that it exposes through the upper back.
• The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are long with a slight flare as they reach their ends. The sleeves are low down the side and that line of having them wider near the body and then narrowing and flaring back out is gorgeous.
• The waist has a bit more generous feel to it but you still get shape by the knot at the side where the panel attaches in from the back as described above.
• It skims over the hips and then the legs are cut wide to the hem. Once they are on the body they pick up on the flared feel of the sleeves. At the very top and across the hips you can see how he has added extra silk and carried it up and across to meet up and into the knot at the waist. It is all cut brilliantly and is very flattering once on the body.
  
• The jumpsuit is fully lined in a black silk except for the sleeves. It closes with a hidden set zipper at the back, and then the panel runs over that and attaches in at the front as described above.

• This is original Haute Couture who's twin walk the runway for Spring 1985.
• The suit was made under the creative direction of Emanuel Ungaro.
• This would have been completely made by hand in the Paris atelier.
  
• This is a stunning two piece set done in a black on black stripe woven directly into on a fine wool / silk mix feeling fabric.
• The jacket is a classic cut of his from this time period. It features wider set strong shoulders and is meant to feel more oversized through the upper bodies.
• The entire lower portion of the jacket wraps around and over to one size creating this phenomenal dropped waist detailing that adds incredible detail all around the lower portion of the jacket.
• The front wraps over itself and hooks and snaps into place on one side at the top of the hip. There is no collar so you have a very clean feel to the upper bodice. The draping that happens around the hips is what adds all of the drama to the jacket.
• The shape at the lower front portion of the jacket is achieved by the gathering of the fabric along the side of the sea, and then into a ruffle at the front that hides where it snaps into place. This is what gives you that brilliant shape and  that fantastic flare at the side. It is the kind of detail you look for in a couture piece.
• The sleeves are full through the upper arm and they come down to a more narrow cuff. The entire lower portion of the sleeve is detailed with six round gold toned, filigree buttons that have black rhinestone set into them for a little added glitz. Hidden under the buttons are a row of silk covered snapped that you can use to bring the wrist in further.
• The skirt has a band at the waist and then it is cut in a slim pencil shape to just past the knee depending on your height. A panel wraps over the front of the skirt to give the illusion of a wrapped finish that picks up on the wrap of the jacket.
• Both pieces are fully lined in a handset black silk. The jacket hooks and snaps. to close. There is an inner attached waist stay that hooks to close. The button on the sleeves are decorative with head and snaps underneath of them as photoed. The skirt closes at the side with a zipper and hooks at the waist. The shoulders have padding. All of the hand work is to Haute Couture standards throughout.

• This is original Haute Couture whose near twin walk the runway for Spring 1984.
• The suit was made under the creative direction of Emanuel Ungaro.
• This would have been completely made by hand in the Paris atelier.
  
• This is a stunning three piece set done in a black on black striped woven into a fine wool/silk mix feeling fabric and it comes with a matching pink silk and lace camisole.
• The jacket is a classic cut of his from this time period. It features wider set strong shoulders and is meant to feel more oversized through the upper bodice. The waist is shaped to be cinched in with a single pink dome button that sit at the front and the there is a dramatic peplum set under that. This cut is what gives you that fantastic exaggerated hourglass feel that the best of his work has.
• The front closes with that single button at the waist. The collar is done in a pastel pink silk and it is very wide and pointed and set so that it covers almost the entire upper bodice. Under that the hips flared dramatically out all the way around you.
• The shape of the bottom peplum is achieved by having the panels of the jacket shaped and cut to widen out just under the waist. This gives you those brilliant little flares but without adding extra seams. It is the kind of detail you look for in a couture piece.
• The sleeves are full through the upper arm and they come down to a more narrow cuff detailed with four of the same pale pink domed buttons that are slightly smaller than the one at the front. 
  
• Under the jacket is a little pink silk camisole that is just exquisite.
• The camisole is made out of a lingerie weight pink bias cut silk that has hand made lace set into. Each strap that wraps over the shoulder has silk that runs through a little lattice work of netting. The top is cut fairly boxy and so is very easy to fit and wear.
• The skirt has a band at the waist and then it is cut in a slim pencil shape to just past the knee depending on your height. Pockets sit on each hip and the pockets add a little bit of shape around the upper hip.
• The jacket and skirt are fully lined in a handset black silk. The jacket buttons to close with one button at the front. The button on the sleeves are decorative. The skirt closes at the back with a zipper and hooks at the waist. The shoulders have padding. The camisole is online and slips over the head to wear. I see a tiny indentation in the fabric in one spot and there's a bit of edging missing on one part of the strap. Please see the photos after the label shot. All of the hand work is to Haute Couture standards throughout.

• This dress is from the Cruise 2009 collection and it is a production piece produced for the shops.
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• The runway pieces that season were based lightly on Poiret and the Paris of the past and for production there was a group of more refined and elegant pieces like this wonderful dress. You so often see how John translated his over the top runway collections into elegant, wearable and yet still glamorous pieces like this dress but this one is infinitely wearable.
• The Vogue report on the collection noted that: "Galliano has been mining the good old U.S. of A. for raw material from which to spin his dreams....grandes dames like Barbara Hutton, Millicent Rogers, and Nan Kempner—women who weren't afraid to make a bold sartorial statement, one that preferably involved a whopping piece of jewelry. From a shimmering backdrop that conjured a Tony Duquette garden, there emerged a full wardrobe for their modern-day counterparts in Palm Beach, Beverly Hills, and Dallas.... What this season is really about is not so much breaking the mold as delivering a vision of the good life—and Galliano can do that in spades."
• The dress is made out of a crepe that has a little bit of texture to it and is in the absolute perfect purple colour that is so good on so many skin tones.
• Wide straps curve up and around the neck and they extend into two triangles that cover your front and slightly wrapped around the sides.
• The neckline plunges right to the waist at the front and the entire upper back is left bare.
• A wide band wraps around your middle to the top of the hip and it is detailed with buttons that run down the front and appear to hold and gather the dress around you. These buttons are decorative. The real buttons are spaced down the side in his signature tightly spaced fabric covered buttons and loops and this is what closes the dress around you. His buttons are a design detail in themselves.
• From there it curves over the hips and then falls to the floor, expanding out as it near the hem. The bottom skirt is quite full and it flares out dramatically on either side.
• At the back, it stands out to create a train behind you. This extra fabric at the bottom creates beautiful movement as you walk and it elongates the body fantastically.
• This is that long, sexy silhouette that Galliano does so well and it is spectacular in this deep purple colour.
• The bodice is unlined and the skirt is lined in a purple silk that is cut to extend all the way to the end of the train at the back. The buttons at the front or decorative and the dress closes with a series of tightly space buttons at one side.

• This dress is from John Galliano's own label and is an incredible example of his work from this time period.
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano
• This is a production piece that was not shown on the runway but would have been made in limited quantities for the shops.
• For this season he had emphasized a glamorous hourglass shape mixed with nods to pinup girl lingerie style dressing. These bias cut dresses always showcase his love of the 1930s and 1940s and you can see that influence in them.
• The dress is made out of a deep dusky purple silk that has a slight bit of texture to it. It is completely cut on the bias in that signature cut he does so well.
• The dress falls from a delicate strap that curves up and behind the neck and then it drapes down and over the body to the floor.
• The bias cut of it allows the dress to skim and drape over you so that it shows every curve but is not overly fitted.
• The fabric has been pieced together with dropped and angled panels throughout to create the beautiful shape that you see.
• At the back, the strap meets behind the neck and then drop down the centre of the back and panels of silk are suspended from it. These curving panels can be worn either down and under the arms or you can drape your arms through them to create a beautiful curving 'sleeve' effect over the arm.
• The dress glides over the body past the bust, waist and hips and then flares out as it reaches the hem.
• It buttons to close down the side with a row of his signature buttons covered in the same silk and then on the other side the fabric is gathered in and up into a wired circle. The circle is open in the centre and the panels that gather into the circle have been cut out and opened so that it forms the shape of a flower trailing over one hip.
• The dress is lined in a crepe silk but you could choose to remove that lining and have that side be completely bare so that your skin showed through if you wished. I have seen this dress in another colour where someone did that and it looked great. It is an incredible feat of patterning.
• The photos cannot fully convey how a bias cut dress moves. It will only truly come to life when worn.
• Fully lined in a slightly deeper purple silk crepe and closes at the side with a series of silk covered buttons. I see perhaps a tiny pull in the fabric here and there which happens with this fabric and a bit of shininess here and there from pressing near seams. All minor and mentioned for accuracy.
• Tagged a FR42, GB14, US8. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes with it just draping more in a smaller frame

• The twin of this caftan walked the runway for the Spring 2022 Chloe collection for Look 21.
• It was made under the creative direction of Gabriela Hearst.
• The show was all about summer holidays and joy. Gabriella said “As cheesy as it sounds, this collection is about love. It is really about the love of so many things: the love of craft, the love of friendship, the love of fellow humans".
• The other thing to note about this collection is that she dramatically reduced the number of items in the show down to only 31 when the norm was usually over 50. This was in an effort to make the brand more sustainable and use better sourced fabrics and more transparent supply chains. 
• On this caftan for example, the silk is handwoven and came with its own instructions about the fabric and the way it will wear. I have included a shot of those so you know what to expect of the fabric. The band around the neck is handwoven and braided. A seashell used as a centrepiece was hand cut. This is all done under a new division she created called Chloe Craft.
  
• The neckline dips into a V at the front with a stitch to keep it from being a full plunge. Instead you see a little open keyhole underneath that stitch.
• There is a braided strap in a matching deep burnt orange that buttons to close behind the neck and this is attached to a shell that is enclosed in more braiding and then stitched on either side of the neck line.
  
• The top layer of the dress has vertical seaming that begins around the waist area to bring it in and gives the dress some added shape. Under that it falls to the floor and the hem opens outwards. The closed seams end just past the hip and the sides of the caftan are left open underneath. Because of the immense amount of fabric on either side you don't immediately see that it is open but when you move a certain way or sit you do get a flash of bare leg.
• Once it is on, you have a more fitted shape through the body at the centre, and then at the sides are full and open like a true caftan.
• The movement and drama this creates is extraordinary. When you walk and move the dress billows out and floats around you.
• The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear with no closures. As noted on the label, the fabric can lightly pill and this will go away in time. It does not distract, but I want to note it for accuracy. I see a tiny bit of darkening on the top of one shoulder. There is the slightest bit of stress on a seam at the back. Please see the photos attached. The original tags are still in place and it was never worn.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for Look 50 in the Spring 2016 runway.
• It was made under the creative direction of both Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
• The show was based on Africa as its inspiration and at this period of time the world was watching refugees attempting the journey to Italy. In the Vogue review for this collection Maria and Pierpaulo were quoted as saying; 'We probably feel that the greatest privilege in doing our work is that fashion can give a message,” said Chiuri. “We think every person coming here is an individual, and we can show that we can improve ourselves by understanding other cultures.'... 'The message,' added Piccioli, 'is tolerance. And the beauty that comes out of cross-cultural expression.'
• The dress is made from an extremely light in weight cotton with an inner nude cotton layer underneath and then that is entirely covered in a stunning giraffe and fauna print done in a deep orange and navy. 
• Many of the pieces fused both Italian and African traditions , 'They met in the textiles' and the prints in the collection was described as "African-inspired prints with wax block detailed their Spring 2016 collection. The collection was praised for a respectful rather than literal interpretation of African cultural influences."
• The lines of this dress are wonderfully simple and yet it still feels glamorous with the head-to-toe print. 
• The neckline is high and the shoulders soft. It skims over your bust to a slight more generously cut waist. The sleeves are long and narrow in slightly at the wrists.
•  From there it curves over the hips and begins to widen out to the floor. There is a surprising amount of fabric in the skirt, but because of the lightness of the fabric, it falls in a more column silhouette until you begin to move.
• The print that covers the dress is stunning. It is set to highlight the lines of the dress and is specifically placed to accomplish that goal.
• The dress has an attached inner slip dress made of nude cotton. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have never been worn and still has its original hang tags.

• This is an absolutely fantastic and ultra rare piece from the Spring 1993 Versace collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Gianni Versace.
• Similar pieces was seen on the runway worn by Linda Evangelista, versions were shot for Italian Vogue and used for various editorials that season.
• This collection was an homage to South Beach, a place that Gianni absolutely loved. In 1991 he bought Casa Casuarina, a mansion on Ocean Drive. Two years and $30 million later it was a lavish palazzo. But before that completed, he created this spring 1993 show as a love letter to South Beach. Little Havana was referenced in the amazing bell bottom pieces and floral printed silks, both of which are found on this jumpsuit. 
• The jumpsuit is made out of a black and white floral printed silk that has a beautifully soft finish to it which makes it very comfortable and easy to wear once on the body.
• A wide 5" band of the floral printed silk is mixed with a second ruffle made out of a black and white dotted silk. This gorgeous double layer of ruffles circles around the shoulders with a silk covered elastic band that lets it sit perfectly in place on you. I I love the bare expanse of skin this leaves showing across the top of the shoulders. As good as it looks on the dress form it will be even better once it is on a body.
• The body of the jumpsuit skims over you and its cut is shaped to follow your curves. Depending on your preference and size, it can be worn super fitted or have more of a skimming feel over you.
• All of the shape over the bust, waist and hips is created by long vertical seaming. The waist curves to come in for shape and then the silk curves back out over the hips.
• The pants are phenomenal. Each one has a fairly straight leg to about the knee. At that point there is a curving seam that wraps around the waist and into that the bottom of the pant leg has been added. The fabric is done in an extra full flare to create that fantastic bell bottom that you see. It is made out of two layers of silk. There is an inner dotted layer that extends out past the hem and then the floral printed layer over that. When you lay it out each bell bottom is a full 52" all the way around. I love how the dotted fabric peeks out from below the hem and ties the dotted fabric on the ruffle around the shoulders together perfectly.
• The extreme bell shape of the lower pant legs creates phenomenal movement when you move but because the silk fabric is so light and fine they have the perfect amount of fullness when you stand still.
• The jumpsuit is unlined and closes with a back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress was shown for Look 70 of the resort 2017 Valentino collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri.
• This ended up being the final collection that Maria worked on for the Valentino label.
• The inspiration behind the collection was Cuba and the looks were rife with embroidery and print. Piccioli remarked that "It gave us a real freedom to mix, like a souvenir, lots of pieces together."
• The dress has the added provenance of being the twin of the dress worn by Natalie Portman that year on the red carpet. She wore it beautifully and it shows you just how spectacular the dress is once on the body.
• The dress is made out of a light weight, more open weave black net that sits over a black silk chiffon lining to make it opaque enough to wear. Onto that is a stark white embroidery that forms a beautiful pattern over the entire dress.
• The neckline is set wide across so that it sits at the edges of the shoulders. If you are not very broad across the shoulders you should be able to wear it fully off the shoulder. The dress form shows it fully off the shoulder. The collection photo shows it at the very edge and then Natalie chose to wear it a little higher up. I love that this let you see all of the options.
• A wide 9" ruffle follows the entire neckline and gives it the prettiest flounce all the way around you.
• Under that the bodice skims down to the seamed waist and then the skirt is smoothly set into the waist. From there the skirt expands outwards and by the time it reaches the hem it has an amazing amount of volume. The back is cut slightly longer than the front so you get a beautiful sweep.
• The the hem of the skirt has a ruffle that picks up on the one around the shoulders and that ruffle is a full 13" wide. Underneath the top layer is two more layers of black netting that sit between the top skirt and the inner silk chiffon lining. I love how this added touch of underskirts along with the beautiful cut of the skirt adds to the volume and detail of the skirt. It also gives you fantastic movement when you move.
  
• This is an absolutely stunning dress and this particular cut of dress is one of my favourites. 
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk chiffon with extra layers of netting through the skirt as described above. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This set is from the Fall 2006 collection for Valentino.
• The dress was made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino.
• The near twin of this piece was worn by Kerry Washington that same year.
• This is a very interesting dress because of it strong tie in to both past and future Valentino. The first time this print was used by the house was in 1970. Mr. Valentino revisited it for this fall 2006 collection and then Pierpaolo used the print for his Resort 2020 collection.
• This two piece set is especially fun with its mix of prints and colours. It is made out of a beautiful silk chiffon that keeps it light in weight.
• The top is a simple halter type top that has a more structured waist area that wraps around you and zips to close at the side.
• On the front there are two triangles made out of a printed silk chiffon that has been doubled to make it opaque enough to wear. These attach in along the top of the panel underneath and then they simply tie into place behind the neck.
• The ties are cut to be excessively long from the point where they tie behind the neck so they drape beautifully down and over your bare back. 
• The skirt has a more structured band around the top and when the halter is on it fits perfectly over top of that structured part.
• It widens out to the hem from there with a series of stacked ruffles set to overlap each other slightly from waist to hem. This gives you very pretty movement when you move.
• The halter part of the top are lined in a second layer of the same printed silk chiffon and the rest of the top and the skirt are lined in a purple silk chiffon. Both the top and skirt close with hidden set side zippers.

• The twin of this dress walked the runway in the Spring 2003 show for Look 64
• It was made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino
• It was the only dress shown in this entire collection that season that was done in his signature Valentino red. So when you look through the collection photos it really stands out.
• The show was a huge success and Vogue especially loved the evening pieces; "For the evening review, it gets even better. Valentino's communiqués from his couture collection show up as delicate metallic-embroidered chiffons made into fragile capes, cardigans or dresses. And for the grand occasion, there's a full battalion of the designer's fabulous signature chiffon gowns." 
• The dress is suspended from the shoulders by two tiny straps in the same red silk. The bodice is seamed just under the breasts and have minimal darting. 
  
• It skims over the waist and hips and then from there it falls to the floor in a beautiful column of the red silk crepe that flares out slightly as it nears the hem.
• The back of the dress is cut slightly longer so you have a beautiful bit of a sweep behind you as you walk.
• Two panels of silk chiffon wrap around the waist area to add detail and shape to the dress. The panels are attached all the way around and then loop through openings at the front of the dress. The ties are cut extra long and fall to just above the hem at the front of the dress. These not only add beautiful detailing to the dress but also create amazing movement as you move.
• The top panel of the bodice is lined in a red silk and the rest of the dress is unlined. It  closes with a hidden set side zipper. I see a touch of grubbiness here and there around the hem but it is very minor

• It was made under the creative direction of Mary Katrantzou
• For this collection Mary "turned to landscape in the shadowy vistas of old black-and-white photography." Vogue stated that she wanted to shift away from the prints and colour that "have fuelled her meteoric rise, to a strong focus on shape and silhouette." Prints were inspired by the early-twentieth-century photogravures of Edward Steichen and Alfred Stieglitz.
• These dresses were sold out worldwide and wait-listed. While this exact version did not appear on the runway that season its near twin in a different colour-way was worn by Naomi Harris. We added that to this listing as I love that this lets you see how great the silhouette of this is once on the body. The dress she is wearing is available in another listing from today.
• The dress is made out of a fabric that has almost the feel of a very lightweight neoprene. This allows it to perfectly hold the intended shape on and off the body.
• The body is strapless and shaped with vertical seams to fit and hug the bodice. While there is stiffening behind the seams at the front and back the only boning in the dress has been placed at the sides. This makes it extremely comfortable to wear while still fitting snug to the body.
• The waist is seamed for shape and then the skirt is fitted into that with a series of sloped pleats that round the skirt out and over the hips. Depending on your height, this should land at the knee or just above. I love how the skirt comes back in slightly at the hem.
• Hidden along those pleats on each side are pockets that sit on each hip.
• The print on this one is in a beautiful mix of colours depicting a more scenic view that runs over the entire dress. I love the phenomenal pop of colour that this gives this dress.
• The dress is fully lined in a silver toned silk and closes with a back set zipper. It was never worn.

• It was made under the creative direction of Mary Katrantzou
• For this collection Mary did a series of more evening pieces that focused on prints containing flowers, exaggerated beadwork and jewels.The printd popped and Fashion Daily Mag noted that "she delicately placed flowers upon springtime frocks that are perfect for an English garden party."
• These dresses were sold out worldwide and wait-listed. 
• The dress is made out of a fabric that has almost the feel of a very lightweight neoprene. This allows it to perfectly hold the intended shape on and off the body.
• The bodice curves up and around the scooped neck and I love how it curves down around the openings for the arm. At the back it has an almost exaggerated racer back feel that is split by the zipper. The fabric that it is made out, of along with the vertical seams that shape and fit it over the bodice, keep it soft and comfortable to wear while still fitting snug to the body.
• The waist is seamed for shape and the skirt is fitted into that with a series of wide pleats that give the skirt its incredible fullness. I also appreciate how the vertical seams on the bodice line up exactly with the pleats of the skirt at the front.
  
• Built in between the top layer of the skirt and the lining is netting to help hold the shape and fullness.
• Depending on your height this should land at the knee or just above. 
• Hidden along those seams on each side of the skirt are pockets.
• The print on this one is done in a beautiful mix of soft pastel colours depicting jewels and beads and the print covers the entire dress. I love the contrast of the two colours on the bodice and skirt along with the phenomenal pop of colour that this gives the dress.
• The dress is fully lined in the same fabric through most of the bodice and then has a silver toned silk lining through the rest of the dress. Built in netting through the skirt as described above. It closes with a back set zipper. It was never worn and still has its original tags attached.

• This is an ultra rare original Halston from his main label. While this dress was eventually the inspiration behind the pieces that were recreated in a less expensive jersey for his Halston IV line, this is an original as seen on the runway. It is one of the pieces that would have inspired all of the other ones created in the diffusion lines.
• It was made under the creative direction of Roy Halston.
• In 2016 the twin of this dress entered modern day fashion history when Kate Moss wore its twin on the red carpet at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. 
• We have had Martha Hunt wear a white one version that she sourced from us to Cannes. She landed on several Best Dressed lists as a result. 
• Ones from the main label like this would have been a custom order by a Client during this time period.
• I am always on the look out for this style of dress by Halston. It is perhaps the most iconic of all of the Halston silhouettes.
• There is a certain sexiness caused by the illusion of having the entire dress suspended by one shoulder. It gives the sense that the entire dress could drop in a puddle around you.
• It is constructed from two separate layers. This is also where this one differs from the more common diffusion line. Pieces from the Halston IV line have one panel of fabric that wrap around and extends out to create the draping. On this one there is a separate draping panel that is attached all the way around the neckline and then falls over the inner part.
• The inner dress is cut to skim over the body in a long sheath that widens out as it nears the hem. Here again we see a slight difference in the design. On this dress there is no slit running up the side seam. You can see in the runway photo that ones were created with a slit and from what I understand it was the choice of the client to have that added or not.
• A draped panel of the same fabric is attached all the way around the neckline and then is gathered up in a series of folds at the top of the shoulder. This allows for an incredible amount of fabric to fall from that shoulder and from around the neck. The jersey drapes down over the front and the back of the dress with one side of the draping completely opened down the length of the dress. The gathering on the shoulder causes that side to curve up a touch from the hem while the rest of the jersey cascades loosely down and over the body. 
• I love that the edges were finished by machine but then they have been turned under and tacked into place by hand all the way around the top draping so that it lies perfectly. This would have added countless hours to the construction of the dress and shows the level of detail that lies within his pieces. The simplicity of his work hides and extreme attention to every single stitch in line.
• This is an iconic and rare original dress by Halston.
• The dress slips on to wear with no closures. It should fit a variety of sizes since it is not cut to be super fitted and the jersey does have some stretch. It looks to have been worn very little if at all.

• The twin of this dress in a brown walked the runway for the Fall 1989 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Patrick Kelly.
• We have included other reference photos of various styles of the dress in the same colour. It could very well be that the actual twin of the dress also walked the runway, but there is not always full coverage of his shows to be found.
• The Philadelphia Museum of Art hosted an exhibit of the work of Patrick Kelly in 2014. The show notes state: "“I want my clothes to make you smile”—that was the goal of late African American designer Patrick Kelly in creating his bold, bright, and joyful creations. Kelly achieved this on the streets, nightclubs, and runways of New York, Paris, and beyond in the heady, inventive, and often-subversive urban milieu of the 1980s....Kelly’s work pushed racial and cultural boundaries with golliwog logos, Aunt Jemima bandana dresses, and his ubiquitous black baby-doll brooches. His playful looks were inspired by his muse, Josephine Baker, and admiration for couturiers Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Yves Saint Laurent, among others."
• The dress is made out of a fantastic stretch velour fabric that will stretch to hug your curves and show off every bit of the body. That said the velvet keeps it flattering and easy to wear as it gives support at the same time it hugs the body. This combined with that leopard print in the more unusual silver tone is fantastic.
• Kelly cut this one so that is can be worn on or off the shoulder while keeping the sleeves long and lean. On the runway it was shown off the shoulder and that is how I prefer it too. That bare expanse of skin is the perfect contrast to the coverage of the dress.
• The cut through the body hugs your every curve and the dress is meant to hug your frame all the way down.
• It curves over the bust, waist and hips and the very lower hem has a slight flare outwards. The stretch that the fabric has is what allows you to walk as there are no slits or vents in the skirt. 
• The shape once this is on the body is fabulous and it is very easy to fit because of the stretch.
  
• It is a showstopper and an amazing example of his work. I love everything about this dress and that it is a true piece of fashion history that is extremely well documented.
  
• Unlined and slips on to wear with no closures. The printed velour finish velvet has stretch. Elastic through the neckline. At some point the bottom hem was let down and I have left it for that extra length. The fabric does have stretch. I have put the comfortable range while laying flat below. You probably still have some extra room beyond the listed range if needed.

• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
  
• On the runway it was shown in both this colour and also in a red. 
• The dress is constructed in a way that creates its unusual gathered velvet technique. It is also what gives it an amazing tactile feel when its touched.
• The colour of the velvet is a beautiful deep purple that in certain lights has a touch of a blue undertone. I love that.
• The dress is strapless with inner built in structure to help hold it in place once one the body. The back part of the bodice has a built-in elastic so the dress is easy to fit. It curves down and past the waist with no seam to break the eye. From there it curves back out and over the hips in a sleek pencil silhouette.

• This is an exceptional and very rare example of a Heim Haute Couture work from the late 1940s early 1950s.
• It was made under the creative direction of Jacques Heim.
• Jacques Heim began his career working at his parents fur business. In 1923 he took that business over and made it into his own vision. Heim began designing a line of made to order, in-house couture pieces that used original fabrics most notably those of Sonia Delauney. In 1930 his label became an official member of Haute Couture and his self-named label, Jacques Heim, was born. Jacques remained at the helm of his business until his death in 1967. The label closed in 1969.
• This era of Couture was known as the golden era in part because of its excellence in every aspect to the art of Couture. This dress is everything you look for in an Haute Couture dress from this time period.
• The dress is a phenomenal example of Couture and is made out of a hand dyed net and hand dyed, handmade lace.
• The dress is completely made by hand and would have been made in his Paris atelier.
• Wide straps curve up and over each shoulder and then the front neck and back are both scooped with a more shallow version at the front in a deeper one at the back. The opening across the shoulders is cut wider across so that you can wear this dress more on the outside of your shoulders and expose the collarbones.
• It skims over the bust and is shaped and meant to be slightly more fitted. From there it nips in at the waist. The dress comes with its original matching belt that is also made by hand and covered in the same net and silk as the dress. The belt is slim in its cut and highlights the waist even more.
• The skirt is truly outstanding. It is the perfect rendition of that 1950s full "New Look" feeling skirt that has come to be so associated with that era. The skirt is made from five layers of tulle that are hand dyed to this incredible soft taupey grey that has a hint of purple in its undertone. These five layers sit on top of multiple layers of inner skirting. All of the volume that you see here is created from the stocking of all those layers. I have added nothing extra underneath for these photos, though I think you could make it even fuller if you took the time to starch out every single layer.
• Onto the very top layer of netting are hand applied strips of handmade lace that have been added in vertical rows. Fees stand down and over the bodice to the waist. From there they trail down the skirt to end in various lengths. This has been done all the way around you and the final effect this creates is beautiful. It is hard to imagine the length of time this all would have taken by hand.
• The dress closes with a back metal zipper and the belt buckles to close. The inner bodice is boned for structure and all the hand work is done to Couture standards. An inner waist stay hooks to close. The skirt is made from multiple layers of netting as described above. I see a tiny bit of wear near one grommet of the buckle, one tiny repair in the netting and a faint mark on the skirt. These are all extremely minor but mentioned for accuracy.
• There is no size tag present since it is true Couture so please go by the measurements below.

• This set is from a late 1970s YSL collection most likely 1979 or 1977
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
  
• Both pieces are made out of a feather light silk in a very unusual muted turquoise that has a gorgeous muted quality to it. The photos are very close to the colour. It is perhaps a touch more pastel in person.
• The neckline of the top is set wide across so you can wear it off of the shoulder for a bare expanse of skin to show. A wide 6" ruffle follows the entire neckline and gives the prettiest flounce all the way around you. At the front the ruffle has been gathered so that it narrows in by a matching band of fabric that slips through an open loop along the seam. I love the added detail that this adds.
• Under that top ruffle there is a second ruffle sitting directly underneath it with stiffening added to its edge to add support. Set under that is another 5" wide ruffle that circles around each arm. These also have a little half ruffle with stiffened edging underneath for added support. The final effect is that of an gorgeous double ruffle set just under each shoulder and it is phenomenal.
• The top is cut wide and generous in a very boxy shape. This width through the body makes it easy to fit and it also is what gives it some volume once it is tucked into the skirt. 
• The skirt is a YSL masterpiece and a phenomenal example of the skirts that he was doing during this time period.
• The waist is banded and comes with a matching silk tie belt that you can cinch in the waist as much as needed. This tie is incredibly long and you can tie it in a bow wherever you wish. I love how it picks up on the bow of the top.
• Tiny gathered pleats are set in all the way around the waist and then the skirt falls under that into beautiful tiers. At the point just past the hips, the lower skirt is set into the top of the skirt with a ruffled seam that circles all the way around you. Built in behind that on the interior of the skirt is a wide band of stiffening that helps to hold the shape and volume. At the hem there is a panel of the same silk that has been tightly gathered into a wide ruffle. All of this perfectly ties in with the ruffles around the shoulder of the top. 
• The skirt is incredibly full but still light in feel because of the lightness of the fabric. If you were to lay this out and open the skirt out, it is more than a full circle around. That volume combined with the lightness of the fabric gives you incredible movement when you move.
  
• This is an absolutely stunning example of his work during this time period and one of my favourite pieces I have ever had by him.
• It is exceptionally rare to find a full set in such a iconic YSL design and in this condition.
• Both pieces are unlined. The top slips over the head to wear and the skirt zips to close with a side set zipper and two flat hook and eye at the waist. The tie belt is original to the dress.
• Both pieces are tagged a vintage YSL 40.

• This is a very pretty late 1970s, early 1980s dress from the Richeline label.
• The Richilene label was launched around 1970 and lasted to about 1990 or so. It was a New York based label and was designed by Ilene Pacun and her husband Richard. The name came by combining their two first names.
• They focused on party dresses for the most part and had a pretty wide range of options price wise. By the mid-1980s their prices ranged from about $200-$2000 and the higher end pieces were very well made.
• This dress combines a soft pastel turquoise and pink floral print with the top and sleeves being done in a silk chiffon and the skirt made out of a silk in the same print.
• The shoulders are soft and the front and the back of the top have a wide scoop that goes almost to the edges of the shoulder.
• The sleeves are incredible. Each is exceptionally wide by the time it reaches the cuffs. They are finished in a beautiful balloon cut. They are cut extra long but once they are closed around the wrist they simply puff out above your hands in the most beautiful way.
• The bodice skims over the bust to a seamed waist for shape. We have added a little turquoise grosgrain ribbon that will be sent with the dress. Inside it is lined in a nude silk chiffon for the upper bodice and shoulders with the rest backed in a blue silk so that it is opaque.
• From there the skirt curves in a very full and open shape over the hips and continues to expand outwards to the floor. There is an immense amount of fabric used in the skirt. It has been gathered in wide soft pleats all the way around the waist and this is what helps to give it its fullness. When you move it moves beautifully around you.
• The dress is fully lined in a blue silk through the bodice as described above and the sleeves are unlined. The skirt has an attached cotton-mix matching blue lining. It closes with a back zipper and there is a hidden snap on each wrist.

• This dress is from the Spring 1971 collection and we found a reference photo from the 1971 collection that utilized the same type of beading
• It was made under the creative direction of Loris Azzaro.
• Azzaro launched his label in 1967 and quickly defined his trademark looks by using ornate beading, sequins, daring cut-outs and avant garde ways of defining the body. Some of the most beautiful women in the world wore his clothing including Marisa Berenson, Raquel Welch, Jane Birkin, Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot and Tina Turner. It was a label that defined sexiness and had a certain French flare that women world-wide loved.
• By the seventies and eighties he was experimenting with volume and proportions and new fabrics that at the time were all cutting edge. This is a stunning example of his work during this period.
• The dress is made out of a deep turquoise silk jersey that glides over your curves and is very flattering.
• The neckline plunges in a V at the front and then it has elaborate border with a thick application of beads, sequins and paillettes. These start at the back  of the neck and wrap around to follow the plunge at the front. From there it expands into a wide panel that ends in a almost medallion feeling embellishment that sits at the waist. The beads are densely applied to sit up and off the dress and it is quite incredible to see.
• The sleeves are long and each one expands on a curve to pouf out just above the cuff. Each cuff has the same incredible beaded detailing that you see at the front.
• The deep turquoise silk jersey glides over the bust and comes in at the waist for shape. 
• The skirt falls under that, skimming over the hips and then widening out to fall beautifully to the floor.
• It is the perfect combination of feeling covered yet sexy and the dress is incredibly easy and comfortable to wear.
• Unlined and the dress closes with a hand set back set zipper. Each cuff snaps to close. I see a light bit of colour change to the fabric here and there. It is something that you noticed only when looking really close at the dress and it presents perfectly once on the body. It is there however, and it is priced accordingly. Please see the photos after the label shot for examples. The jersey does have some stretch and the measurements below are the comfortable range when laying flat. The colour is a touch brighter turquoise then how it photoed. Hand finishes throughout.

• The dress is from the Fall 2000 Richard Tyler Couture collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Richard Tyler.
• Faith Hill wore its twin to the 2000 Grammy awards. I love that we have this reference photo so that you can see how the dress is once on the body.
• Richard Tyler was the designer to wear in the 1990s and early 2000s. He won the Council of Fashion Designers of America New Talent award in 1993. In 1994 and 1995 he won the Council's Womenswear Designer of the Year award. Julia Roberts, Janet Jackson, and Sigourney Weaver were just a few of the stars who loved his work and his dresses made regular appearances on the red carpet.
• Tyler was known for his impeccable tailoring and finishes and at the time employed some of the best tailors and seamstresses in the business.
• The dress is made from an ultra soft and supple black leather that has been treated like a fabric for the construction of this dress.
• Beaded straps curve up and over each shoulder and then extend down to meet the dress at each side. There are also beaded straps that extend out from each side of the under-bust seam and are attached in at the sides. At the front they run through a little slit on the seams to pass across the plunge. A final beaded strap hooks into place across the low back and gives the illusion of being a part of the strap that wraps around the front. I love these little added beaded details that up the glamour on the dress that little bit more.
• The straps connect to triangles of leather that curve on an inward curve into a front plunge. The beaded strap that runs across the front helps to hold the dress in place and add a little extra detail. I love the how the seams under the bust turn into a dart to add shape. Just having those extra seams also add subtle detail.
• At the back it curves down into a low V at the small of your back, leaving your entire back bare and exposed. It is very sexy.
• It is shaped to come in at the waist and then curve back and over the hips. There is a horizontal seam placed at the bottom of the hips and then the lower panels of leather fall in a pretty column to the floor to give you one long lean line.
• At the back of the skirt there is an extremely high slit that goes all the way up to meet the seam that wraps around the bottom of the hips. These high back slits were a Tyler signature and allows for a flash of bare leg as you walk away.
• The leather is extremely soft and supple. It is not stiff in any way at all. It is so soft that it does act and drape like a fabric. It is incredible.
  
• The dress is lined with a black silk through the upper bodice and then the lower skirt is unlined. Closes with a hidden set side zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This is the all black version of the Spring 2006 pink floral dress from the same collection that we currently have in the shop.
• It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli
• The twin of the pink version of this dress was worn by Noemie Lenoir in 2006 and we have included those reference photos in this listing because even though it is a different colour it still shows you just how phenomenal this is once on the body.
• The dress is made from a black silk feeling jersey that is draped over an inner black body suit that gives you the perfect amount of inner structure and holds the dress perfectly in place.
• That inner corset is lightly boned through the front and the bust area is shaped with inner padding and wire. The jersey on the exterior is draped into place over that and gathered over towards one side. At the base of where it gathers there is a decorative panel that has a tie running through it and little gold metal loops. You could use the ties to wrap around the waist or just let it hang down over the hip as I have done for these photos. 
  
• A single layer of the jersey drapes down from there to form the skirt. The skirt is incredible. It falls to extend down long and dramatically on one side so you get a sweeping feel around you as you move. On the other side there is an inset triangle made out of a black chiffon that gives you the very slightest bit of transparency on that side. 
• If you loved the dress in the flower print but are not a flower kind of girl. This is the version for you.
• The inner black bodysuit is shaped and made of a stretched lingerie netting to give you support and shape. It zippers to close at its side and then hooks to close at the bottom. The dress closes over that at the side with a hidden set zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This dress is from the Spring 2022 bridal collection and was named the "Salinas" dress in the collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Naeem Khan
  
• I love that we have a reference photo of both the back and front of the dress so you can see how beautiful it is once on the body. 
• The base of the dress is an ivory net that keeps the dress light in weight despite its extensive added detailing. Onto the net the dress has been heavily sequinned and beaded by hand. The dress was then lined in an ivory silk chiffon with a nude silk chiffon under that to make it just opaque enough to wear.
• The design that covers the entire dress is utterly gorgeous. It is a series of abstract, soft curving shapes that run over the entire dress. I love how the shapes change form and direction to highlight the curves of the body underneath and the cut of the dress.
• The shoulders are soft and slightly sloped and the sleeves are cut long to the wrist if not slightly past.
• It skims over the bust and then curves back in slightly at the waist for shape. This is all done with vertical seaming so there is no line across the midsection of the dress to break the eye. From there it curves back out and over the hips. The bias cut lets it highlight your shape but without being tight or confining once on the body.
• It comes back in slightly under the hip and then the lower portion of the skirt widens out substantially around you. There are yards of extra fabric worked all around the sides and back of the skirt. As it curves around you it extends and becomes even more full to create a classic train that sweeps out behind you. This creates phenomenal movement and a beautiful silhouette around you.
• The dress is beautifully made and there is a  high attention paid to every last detail.
• The dress closes at the back with a hidden set zipper and each sleeve hooks to close at the cuff. The bias cut of the fabric gives it some light movement and I have put the comfortable range of measurements below. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This dress is from the From the Stella McCartney bridal collection for 2014
• It was made under the creative direction of Stella McCartney
• An all silk version of this dress was worn by Nicola Peltz, and Beyonce also wore an all silk version to the Vanity Fair Oscar party in 2015. I love that this lets you see how fantastic this is going to be once on the body.
• This version was made with more of a wedding/bridal point of view and it is made out of a beautiful white lace.
• The neckline is slightly scooped and set higher up. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are long to the wrist.
• It closes at the back of the neck and then the fabric curves down and over the back of your shoulder from there to leave an open cut out. The cut out starts at the nape of your neck and curves over to each side. It is fully open right to the low back where the top of the skirt is set on a pretty curve. This gives you a beautiful silhouette from the back.
• It skims over the upper bodice with darts for shape. There is a seam set under the bust that tops a panel of the same lace. This wraps around to each side at the front only down to a second seam at the proper waist. That second seam is what curves all the way around to the back to sit under the open cut out.
• It skims over the hips and widens out as it nears the floor. The bottom of the skirt flares out quite a bit so you have a beautiful movement as you move.
• The back sweeps out behind you in a classic rounded train. It is absolutely gorgeous.
• The dress is fully lined in a matching silk chiffon and has very light padding in each shoulder that acts more as a support to the lace than to add shape. There is a slight touch of transparency. It closes with a back hidden set zipper and each sleeve has a hidden set zipper at its end. The dress is new with its original tag and is in its original uncut length

• This is an absolutely fantastic and very rare piece whose twin walked the Spring 1993 Versace runway.
• It was made under the creative direction of Gianni Versace
• Besides being prominently featured on the runway, it was featured in editorials for the Versace lookbook.
• This collection was an homage to South Beach, a place that Gianni absolutely loved. In 1991 he bought Casa Casuarina, a mansion on Ocean Drive. Two years and $30 million later it was a lavish palazzo, but before that was completed, he created this Spring 1993 show as a love letter to South Beach. Little Havana was referenced in the amazing floral printed silks that we see on this piece.
• On the runway, this was worn over a printed bell bottom pant in a contrasting floral print. In real life, you could certainly re-create that look or pair it with something simpler to let the vest shine on its own. It would look equally as good topping any length skirt, a pant, and you could even go very daring and wear something far more bare underneath.
• The vest is made out of a printed silk that mixes a solid black for the collar and lining. Black silk is also used for the properly finished button holes and the silk covered buttons at the front. It has a slightly softened feel to it that gives it a bit of a washed cast. This is intentional and carries through the entire piece where the black silk has been used.
• The rest of the vest has a brilliant oversized floral print running over it that is spectacular. It mixes all the primary colours and covers the entire piece. I love how the back panel of the vest is a different floral panel pattern for contrast.
• The shawl collar curves down low to the waist and then the vest closes with a double set of silk covered buttons across the front. Long floral covered tails fall around the side of the hip and down the front. These will end around or past the knee depending on your height.
• At the back, seams curve inwards to add shape through the waist and there is a fabric half belt that you use to cinch in and add more shape. The belt buckle and added embellishment on the belt are amazing. They are made out of a gold toned metal with the tops of each piece finished in a red, hand poured enamel. There are two curving pieces, one that secures the belt once buckled and the other to finish the end of the belt strap. Three more straight pieces sit on either side of that for added decoration. It is a very decadent and beautiful extra touch of detail.
• This is an iconic and highly collectible piece of Versace history. That is an easy piece to incorporate some vintage into your existing wardrobe.
• The vest is fully lined in a black silk and closes with the two front buttons that have properly finished button holes. As noted above, the black silk portion of the vest has a slight washed feel to its finish that appears intentional. It does have a fabric and size tag, but it is faded and you can no longer read what size it is.

• The front is cut in a low plunge that meets the waist. At the waist of the plunge is a little gap so you have a bit of a squared off feeling rather than the typical V. Because of the way it is cut and the angle the front is cut on, it is surprisingly secure once on the body and stays in place very well without exposing you despite that low plunge. A curved shoulder yolk wrapped over the shoulder and extends into the back. The fabric at the front between the seam under the bust seam and those shoulder yokes are gathered vertically for added pretty detail.
  
• The sleeves are phenomenal. Each is a cut very wide and are gathered around the shoulder yolk, giving the illusion that they extend directly out from the front and back. Their width gives them an almost caped feel as they flow over the upper arm.
• The bust skims over you and then comes along a upward curving scene that ends at the base of the plunge. This talks and insert that gives you some definition around the waist and then cursed down the centre front of the skirt. It is all shaped to give you an hourglass feel with no harsh lines to break the eye and line of the dress.
• The skirt curves back out and over the hips where it widens out to be quite by the time it reaches the hem. There are yards of beautiful, moss crepe in its construction. An extra panel of fabric is set along the front horizontal seam just below the hip. This adds even more fabric and gives the dress beautiful movement when you move.
• When you stand still it falls in a beautiful column of moss crepe but when you move you really get a sense of the fullness and the amount of fabric in a skirt
• The dress is unlined and made out of a red moss crepe. It closes with a low back zipper with a keyhole slit between the seam of the shoulder yolk and where the zipper starts. Someone has added two snaps to hold the keyhole closed. I have left them, but they could easily be removed, or left undone, if you wanted it to be more open.

• Victor Costa launched his label in 1974 and was known for producing versions of what was seen on the Paris runways. Costa chose good fabrics for his designs and even though his work was often very close interpretations of other designs, he did add his own unique twist when it came to colours, cut and fabrics.
• The dress is made out of a red synthetic feeling fabric with a slight sheen finish. The red colour is a good clear red that should be flattering on most skin tones.
• It is strapless and the neckline is cut into a rounded sweetheart shape that is very flattering. A band of fabric edges the entire neck line and where it meets in the centre it continues down the front to form a pretty panel to the waist.
• The bodice is gathered inwards towards that centre band giving a lovely added detail. Big domed silver buttons with six large rhinestones set within the dome are added down the centre of the front band for extra detail and a shot of glamour.
• The bodice is shaped with internal boning at the sides so that it cinches in at the waist.
• The skirt cascades outwards from there to fall very full all the way around you. Underneath the top layer of fabric there is a built-in layer of red netting with added panels that help to hold the shape. We did not add any extra crinolines under the skirt but there is definitely room to add more structure underneath if you wanted the dress to be extremely full and more in line with a 1950s shape.
  
• The dress is fully lined through the bodice in a red fabric and then that attaches to the tulle under skirt. The dress closes with a back zipper. 
• There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 1990 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
• I love that the reference photos shows how amazing it is once on an actual body. The dress has a very Old Hollywood / 1940s feel that I also love. This was a look that he touched upon often in his work and this is classic and beautiful Yves.
• The dress is made out of a red silk crepe that drapes beautifully once on. 
  
• The sleeves are fantastic. Each is a big balloon sleeves that puffs out dramatically over the cuffs. They are gathered into where they attach into the shoulder and then they drop and expand out to phenomenal volume above their cuffs.
• The front crosses over itself in a plunge and hear as well we see gathering start from the shoulders. It wraps and snaps into place around the waist on both the inside and outside with all of the closures hidden from view. A hidden snap that lets you close the V more or you can leave it open for a more full deep plunge. 
• The skirt is gathered in under the waist seam with the majority of it, pulled over to the one side. This causes a dripping all the way down to the hem on that side. The skirt itself falls to the floor and gently widens out as it near the hem. This gives it beautiful movement as you move. Everything about the dress is about movement around the body. He was a master at creating shapes that accentuated the body, but without ever having to be very tight and fitted.
• The dress is fully lined in a red silk and closes with a series of hidden set snaps around the waist and behind the opening hidden by the knot of fabric at the side. A hidden set snap at the front where it crosses over into the plunge. Each cuff has a slight elastic in it. There is also elastic around the back of the waist that make the dress very easy to fit. I see one darkened mark near the hem at the front and two little nicks out of the fabric in that same area. These are extremely minor and mentioned for accuracy.

• The twin of this dress walked runway for the Cruise 2011 Chanel collection for Look 36.
• It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
• I have had a version of this dress in the shop that had a more tank bodice to it but this is the first time I have had the actual twin of the runway look and I think I love it even more with its one shoulder silhouette.
• The Chanel Cruise collections have an interesting history. Gabrielle Chanel actually sailed and her love of the sport led to her inception of a 'cruise' collection in the 1920s. She was not the first to come up with this concept but hers were among the first to show a complete collection in a fully fledged show. They eventually fell off in popularity within the brand and it was not until Karl Lagerfeld took over Chanel that the Cruise collections started again.
• This was a very successful collection and was lauded by critics. Vogue said that 'It was like something out of a quintessential Riviera movie.... And like the carefree starlets and jet-setters they were channeling, the models traipsed down the street-cum-runway often barefoot, wearing seventies-ish diaphanous caftans, long crocheted dresses, ruffle-lapelled silk jersey trouser suits, and patchwork denim skirts.' They noted that 'Key, of course, is that lightness of touch, the sense of enjoyment and ease. And with fashion once again experiencing a 1970's revival, the show also ended up feeling—as Lagerfeld's Chanel outings often do—very much of the moment.' And the location choice? Karl said the location was a personal choice "I spent many years of my life here," he said. "I know Saint-Tropez like I know Paris. The collection is very casual, very down-to-earth."
• Of course only Karl and Chanel would think a gold knit ribbon dress is casual, to the rest of us this is an incredibly glamorous dress. 
• The dress is beautiful. For all the talk of the seventies influence on this collection this one definitely has a nod to the twenties, a decade that Karl often touched upon.
• The base of the dress is made out of a knit that combines a natural deep linen silk cord that has a gold metallic thread woven through it. Gold grosgrain ribbon is braided through the knit and then additional strands of ribbon and silk cords are set vertically over the different parts of the dress to create the final effect that you see. 
• The knit that edges the neckline has a chunkier feel to it than the knit that runs through the body. The ribbon on those two parts of the dress is also set into the knit differently.
• For the area around the waist and the seam above the final part of the skirt, Karl treated the knit and ribbon differently again. It is quite interesting to see how he used the change of direction of the knit and different finishes of both the knit and the ribbon to separate and highlight the different parts of the design on the dress.
• Through the body the weave of the knit is all set vertically with gold ribbon braided vertically. Long vertical expanses of ribbon are set over the underlying knit layer along with strands of metallic finished cords that are very fine and delicate. These attached into the seam above and below and because of how they are attached and set they sit off of the dress underneath and create its unusual texture and 3D feel. This is an absolute testament to the genius of Karl and his constant pushing forward of the technical aspect of fabrics.
• At the very bottom portion of the skirt, the final 10" of the ribbon and cord are allowed to fall like a long fringe. When you move these create incredible movement as they swish and swoop around you. You also see your leg through the fringes as you walk. It is incredible.
• Once on the body it simply falls over you and is super easy to wear and just a really interesting and unique dress.
• The gold gives it that added glam factor and you could easily wear this for day with sandals and then go all out for an evening look. It would even make a great bridal piece for the bride not looking for something traditional or as a dress for an event surrounding the ceremony. 
• The dress is fully lined through the middle portion in a stretch lingerie feel silk jersey that makes it very comfortable to wear. The bodice is unlined. It has no closures and slips on to wear. It does have some stretch and I have given the comfortable range of measurements below. It appears to have never been worn very little if at all.

• The silhouette of this dress is very well documented and our research turned up two different ads for a black and gold version that appeared in Vogue. It also made an appearance in one of Vogue's party round up editorials. The ads were from the September issues of both 1980 and 1981.
• It was made under the creative direction of Bill Tice
• Countless celebrities own and have worn the different colours of this dress. Lady Gaga wore a version, as have girls like Rachel Zoe & Nicole Richie and every girl that has bought one through me has loved it. It is one of those fail safe pieces that you know is going to work every time you put it on.
• The dress is insanely sexy and bare feeling with a halter style front that plunges to just above the waist. It ties behind the neck and then the back is left completely open and bare.
• The dress is made of a wash and wear metallic gold that has a slight texture to the fabric. It is very light in weight.
• The cut is very clever so that despite its bare appearance it stays in place perfectly once on the body. At the front of the skirt there is a high slit that shows lots of leg when you walk or sit.
• I love his signature wide top-stitched gold fabric belt at the waist. The belt is attached all the way around the back and then ties at the front to cinch you in exactly to where you want.The belt is really what gives it that signature Bill Tice look.
• The dress has the added bonus of travelling very well. It is the kind of piece that you can throw into your suitcase and slip on with either flats or heels when you reach your destination and be instantly ready to go. It packs down to almost nothing and barely wrinkles. 
  
• Unlined and slips on. Ties at the back of the neck and with the attached belt at the waist. Elastic through the front portion of the waist. The easy fit allows it work on a variety of sizes. The gold is a true bright gold in person.

• This dress is a production piece for the shops from the Spring 2008 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
• The dress is made from a purple bias cut silk and you can see the inspiration that the cut and fabric draws from the thirties and forties in its cut. 
  
• Wide straps curve over the shoulders and extend down into a front plunge. The silk is gathered into a centre knot at the base of the plunge. It appears that at some point in the history of this dress, someone has lightly tacked shut about 2" of the plunge so that combined with the way the dress is cut makes it feels very safe to wear and the plunge stays in place.
• Cascading down from the knot is a panel of the same silk. It runs down the centre of the dress all the way to the hem. It creates that beautiful draping you see and also gives the skirt incredible movement. 
  
• Shallow pockets are created along the curve of the front fabric.
• The dress is fully lined in purple silk and closes with a hidden set side zipper. The front has been light tacked shut partway as noted above and could be un-tacked if you wanted a deeper front plunge. It is in its original uncut length. The bias cut should allow it to work on a range of sizes. I have put the comfortable range of measurements below when laying flat.

• We believe the dress is from the 1986 collection and Kim Kardashian wore its twin in 2008.
• It was made under the creative direction of Thierry Mugler.
• The fabric that it is made out of is a light in weight metallic gold fabric that drapes beautifully and has a beautiful deep gold tone to it.
• The dress is cut with Mugler's masterful eye and attention to detail.
• The bodice is strapless. One side is curved and is gathered in underneath the other side. There is a peaked panel that folds down to create a little flap on the other side.
• A panel of the metallic gold fabric extends out from the side with the peaked bodice and this buckles into a gold metal buckle belt coming around from the back. This creates a heavy gathering at that side that sweeps up and adds shape through the waist area.
• The buckle is metal and is signed at the back. These would have been specifically made for Mugler.
• The skirt falls under that with a bit of a curving hem at the front so that it is all brought upwards as you can see in the photos. It is meant to feel hourglass in shape.
• This is a spectacular and very rare example of his work.
  
• I love how the entire dress shimmers in the light because of the gold metallic fabric.
• The dress is lined through the bodice with a more structured fabric that creates an inner built-in corset that is boned and cupped. The skirt is fully lined in a lighter feeling silk. It closes at the back with a zipper and then buckles around the waist with the attached buckle belt. The actual interior of the Terry Mugler tag has been cut out.

• This dress has been dated by the one that is its twin and was part of the 2014 exhibit 'Chicago Styled'.
• It was made under the creative direction of Thierry Mugler.
• The dress is made out of a light in weight metallic gold fabric that drapes beautifully and is perhaps a touch paler gold than how it photoed here.
• The dress is cut with Mugler's masterful eye and attention to detail.
• It drapes up and over the shoulders with wide panels of the gold. On one side the fabric is heavily gathered and hooks in at the waist underneath. On the other side the dress comes out from under that and is not as gathered so that it falls more down and over the top of the shoulder.
• The side with the wider shoulder is set into a panel that runs down the opposite side of the dress.
• This panel is finished with gold studs and this is where the dress closes. The panel runs all the way down the side to where it splits for the hem. There is even a weight added inside the base of the panel to hold the dress perfectly in place.
• The body of the dress is all gathered into that side panel. It wraps around you and then is gathered into the panel at the back. This creates incredible draping down the body and around you.
• The vertical side panel draws the dress up a few inches above the hem and this then creates a bit of an angled curve along the lower hem of the dress that beautifully picks up the angles on the bodice.
• This is a spectacular and very rare example of his work.
• The dress snaps to close where you see the studs at the side and underneath that there is a hidden set zipper. A grosgrain ribbon wraps around the waist and is attached to the part of the bodice that tucks underneath the crossing over at the front to hook to close inside the dress. It is very cleverly put together. 
• I love how the entire dress shimmers in the light because of the gold metallic fabric.
• The dress is partially lined through the bodice and fully lined through the skirt. There are little padding shells set through the inner shoulders but it feels like their inner padding has been removed at some point. It would be easy to add padding back in if you preferred a stronger shoulder.
• There is no size tag present so please go by the listed measurements below.

• The dress is from the Spring 2007 Collection
• It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli
• This is an absolutely beautiful bias cut silk dress who's cut is a nod to old Hollywood in feel.
• The entire dress is covered with a very pretty and intricate leaf and bird print. This runs over its entire surface and the print has a slightly metallic feel with colours centring around a deep red, rust and a coral.
• The front is gathered in and up to the neck and at the centre of where it is gathered, there is a gold toned metal snake that is placed so that it sits at the top of the gathers. The silk extends out from there to curve up and behind the neck where it ties into place. There is a tiny keyhole under the snake detail at the front and the front drapes down and over your bust, waist and hips from there.
• The halter neckline leaves the back completely open. I love how the fabric that comes around from the front is set so there is a pretty curve at the base of your back. This is highlighted even more by the silk ties that extend out from the neck trailing down the middle of your back.
• Once passed the hips the skirt flares out beautifully. This full shape at the bottom of the dress is created by the addition of added panels set all the way around skirt to help it flare out. This extra silk placement creates amazing movement when you move.
• This is classic Cavalli and an absolutely beautiful piece of work.
• The dress is unlined and closes with a hidden set back zipper. The ties that extend out from the neck can be tied and left to trail down the back. The dress is cut on the bias so I have put the comfortable range when laying flat. The length will come up a touch once on a body. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This is from the special edition 2024 Valentino Summer Escape capsule collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of the in-house team while they were waiting for Alessandro Michele to join the label.
• The capsule pieces were "modern interpretations of the Valentino archives" including plays on the famous chevron striping that you see on this piece. 
• It is a simple giant square of fabric made out of a cotton mix. It is feather light and meant to be a piece that you slip on over other things, from a bathing suit, to shorts, to a simple dress.
• Your arms slip through openings across the top and there is a little stitch that brings the inner edges of the front inwards so that it falls beautifully around you.
• The back is kept simple and the lightness of the fabric allows it to billow out behind you as you move. The lightness of the fabric also gives it a touch of transparency that is very pretty.
• It is covered in a multi-colour pastel rainbow of stripes that have the Valentino name worked  throughout the piece from top to bottom, leaving no doubt as to who you were wearing.
• It is unlined and slips on with no closures. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Its original retail price was US$2980
• There is no size tag present. Its loose and easy open cut should allow to fit any size.

• The twin of this dress walk the runway for the Fall 1987 season.
• It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent.
• It is absolutely sensational and I am very pleased that we found photos of it on the runway so you can see how dramatic and amazing it is on the body. He could really push the envelope with some of his designs and this particular dress is a nod back to some of the work that he was doing in earlier decades but in that best of the 1980s kind of way.
• This is not a dress for somebody who does not want to stand out. I think the person that will wear something like this has a certain way of moving through life and doing her own individual thing.
• It combines a brilliant pink silk that has a secondary pattern running through it that catches the light from every angle. Onto that is a black floral pattern that covers the pink. He has used this through the body of the dress and for the very bottom part of the skirt.
• The rest of the dress is made from a sequin detailed lace with black ribbon that has been applied over that for this wonderful layered effect. The texture that all these things together achieve is fantastic and I love the way it catches the light.
• The neckline is cut wide across and the shoulders are soft. The arms are unlined so you see a peak of skin between the net lace, sequins and ribbon detailing. More of the lace goes across the top of the bodice at the front and back. For this part of the dress he gave it a backing of black silk organza so you have just a touch of transparency.
• The pink is set in just at the top of the bust and it is gathered along that seam for extra detail. Those gathers also allow for the dramatic volume that you see through the body of the dress to the top of the hip. Under that is band of the black and there is elastic running through the top of the hip so that you can adjust it up or down and change the length of the dress. The very bottom part of the skirt is a little soft and flirty band of the pink silk.
• It is a very rare and special piece of YSL history.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk through the body and the lower lace panel. There is black silk organza behind the upper bodice and then the lowest part of the skirt and the sleeves are unlined. It closes at the back with a zipper and each sleeve zips to close at the wrist. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
