Spring 2012 Ralph Lauren Purple Label Runway Look 53 Backless Ivory Jersey Dress w Pearl Belt

I Have A Question: Spring 2012 Ralph Lauren Purple Label Runway Look 53 Backless Ivory Jersey Dress w Pearl Belt

  • The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2012 Ralph Lauren Purple Label runway for Look 53.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Ralph Lauren.
  • The dress was also photoed for Vogue on Daria Werbowy and I love that it gives you the opportunity to see it on yet another person.
  • The Purple Label from Ralph Lauren are the high-end demi-couture pieces the label creates. Ralph Lauren launched it in 1994 and the label was meant to be the pinnacle line for the brand.
  • You can see how phenomenally the dress moves in the reference video.
  • The dress does have the option to hook in place at the back like how it is shown on the runway reference photos. You can also wear it more open to the sides as it is shot on the dress form. We decided to do this so you could see both ways. The reference photos also show you how the panels go around the arms.
  • The dress is made out of a white jersey that is very fluid and has lots of movement to it.
  • It comes with its original belt. The belt is made out of glass pearls and beads and has a bit of weight to it. It is finished with tassels at each end and it is gorgeous.
  • The front is suspended from the strip of fabric that curves up and over the shoulders and then curves down to the back. There is a little piece of matching fabric that gives you the option to hook it at the back as shown on the runway photos or it can be left open to give you a completely open back.
  • At the front it drapes beautifully down to the waist and puffs out above the seam. Attached panels at the sides drape around the arm or they can be worn under the arm as well.
  • From there, the skirt flows to the ground in a beautiful drape of the jersey. It is in its original uncut length and there are many yards of fabric in the skirt. The top layer sits over an inner white lingerie stretch silk jersey layer that is light enough to still retain the gorgeous movement the piece has.
  • The dress is backed with a silk jersey through the bodice. Built into the dress and attached around the waist is an inner bottom piece made of a nude lingerie stretch jersey. It snaps into place and holds the dress perfectly around you and adds an extra layer of opacity. It shows no signs of wear. The dress is in its original uncut length. I see a tiny, extremely minor smudge here and there around the hem. Very minor but mentioned for accuracy.
  • The dress is tagged a modern Ralph Lauren 4
  • Excellent condition

Bust: 15-17" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12.5-13.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: open

Total length: approximately 64" from shoulder to hem but small portion of the length will be lost when the top blouses over the waist.

Spring 2016 Roberto Cavalli by Peter Dundas Beaded & Rhinestone Snake Detail White Jersey Dress

I Have A Question: Spring 2016 Roberto Cavalli by Peter Dundas Beaded & Rhinestone Snake Detail White Jersey Dress

  • The dress is from the Spring 2016 Roberto Cavalli Collection and it is a piece that was produced for the shops.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Peter Dundas.
  • The dress is made out of a white jersey that has some stretch to it which makes it very easy to wear and comfortable once it is on the body.
  • The neckline is scooped with a slightly wider cut. The shoulders are soft and the single sleeve that the dress has is long and slightly tapered into the wrist.
  • It skims over the bust and is gathered in along one side to add some shape to the waist. From there it curves back out and over the hips to fall to the floor in one long sweep of jersey. The dress is in its original uncut length.
  • The detailing on the dress is phenomenal. A heavily detailed snake that combines gold tube beading with rectangular and round prong set rhinestones and tiny silver tube beads is set on top of a three dimensional padding. This gives the snake a rounded out shape so that it slightly sits up and off of the fabric.
  • The tail of the snake starts on one side of the neckline, wraps around the back collar, and then runs down the front to follow the low cut opening that your arm slips through. It curves around and into the waist, back around the side of the hip, and then the head of the snake sits just above an extremely high slit at the side.
  • The snake detail is incredible. I love how he dropped the depth of the arm hole on one side and then balanced that with the high slit on that same side. It feels very sexy but the placement of the snake and the structure that is added by the under padding holds everything perfectly in place once it is on. It is quite ingenious.
  • The dress is fully lined through the body with a second layer of the same white jersey and the sleeve has no lining. It zips to close at the back with a hidden set zipper and there is a zipper at the cuff of the single sleeve. I see perhaps the tiniest bit of grubbiness along the inside collar and around the edge of the hem. There are a couple of teeny tiny pulls in the fabric. I have photoed one for you that is at the back near the zipper. Please see the photo after the label shot. These are all extremely minor and noted for accuracy. The fabric does have some stretch so I have put the comfortable range of measurements below.

Outstanding Cruise 2010 Christian Dior by John Galliano Runway Version in White Silk Chiffon Draped Dress

I Have A Question: Outstanding Cruise 2010 Christian Dior by John Galliano Runway Version in White Silk Chiffon Draped Dress

  • This is an incredible white, all silk chiffon, version of Look 16 from the Dior Cruise 2010 collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
  • The dress is made out of a soft ivory silk chiffon that is feather light in weight and moves beautifully.
  • The chiffon has been gathered horizontally around the bust and inside the bodice there is built-in inner support. This part of the dress is opaque.
  • A wide panel of chiffon is angled over to one side so that it can be draped down and over the shoulder or gathered up on top of the shoulder. I love the versatility of this because it allows you to put it how it suits you best. I think if you wanted a strapless look, you could also have it hang around and down one hip instead.
  • On the other side opposite to that shoulder you have an expanse of bare ski showing. On that same side, you have the appearance of the chiffon panel being knotted into place with the ends, falling for pretty added detail.
  • The skirt falls from underneath the bust in two stacked layers of silk chiffon. Even with the two layers of silk, the skirt has transparency to it, which gives you the flexibility of wearing different options underneath to be as bare or covered as you wish.
  • I love how the back of the skirt curves around to trail out behind you. The double layer of chiffon and the added fabric there allow it to billow out around you as you move and walk.
  • It is extraordinarily beautiful and a gorgeous piece of Galliano for Dior.
  • The bodice area that you can see is more opaque is fully lined in a matching silk. The skirt is made of two stacked layers of chiffon, but does have some transparency as seen. The dress closes with a hidden set side zipper. I see one tiny nick in the fabric near the vertical edge of the skirt. Please see the photo after the label shot. It is otherwise appears to have been unworn.
  • There was no size tag present, so please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition

Bust: to 17" flat across from side seam to side seam

Ethereal 1990s Nina Ricci by Gerard Pipart Haute Couture Runway Silk Chiffon Dress w Detailing

I Have A Question: Ethereal 1990s Nina Ricci by Gerard Pipart Haute Couture Runway Silk Chiffon Dress w Detailing

  • This dress is a beautiful example from Nina Ricci Haute Couture.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Gerard Pipart.
  • The Nina Ricci brand was founded in 1932 at 20 Rue de Capucines in Paris and quickly became one of the top couture ateliers in the world.
  • In 1964 Gérard Pipart succeeded Jules-François Crahay, Nina Ricci's former designer assistant, as head of the brand. Pipart, who had previously worked for Balmain, Fath, and Patou, brought a wide range of experience in all aspects of fashion to the brand.
  • Over the following three decades, Pipart's couture vision 'celebrated a flamboyant woman and his ready-to-wear found a loyal following among the most stylish women of the day.' He headed the Couture division until 1998 which makes this a dress from one of his final few seasons.
  • This is an incredible and very beautiful piece of Haute Couture.
  • It would have been made entirely by hand in the Paris ateliers.
  • The dress is made out of layers of a deep blue bias cut silk chiffon that is feather light in weight.
  • The bodice is strapless and it has an inner shaped corset that is lightly boned and shaped for light support. The top is slightly rounded above each breast and then dips down and into the centre.
  • The silk chiffon has been gathered and softly draped by hand over the body from the bust to the top of the hips. The draping goes all the way around you and adds to the hourglass feel the dress has.
  • The waist cinches in and the dress comes with its original matching silk sash that you can tie and style around your shoulders or neck.
  • The skirt flows out from under there and it is made up of yards and yards of weightless silk chiffon that is all cut on the bias. The layers of chiffon create the most phenomenal movement as they float over each other.
  • I love that added bit of glamour from the beautiful band of glass crystals, silver tube beads and silver sequins that run from the centre of the bust and then curve down and over one hip. It is like an added bit of jewellery to the dress and just beautiful.
  • The bodice of the dress is fully lined in a  hand set blue silk. The skirt has an inner layer of silk under the top layers of bias cut silk chiffon. The bodice is shaped and lightly boned inside with softly shaped cups. It closes with a hand set back zipper. The dress is entirely made by hand with its proper Haute Couture tag present. There are a couple of tiny repairs and tiny areas of thinning/pinholes here and there in the skirt. There is so much fabric you do not see them but this is mentioned for accuracy. Please see the photos after the label shot.
  • There is no size tag present as it is true Haute Couture so please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition with the minor note above.

Bust: 14.5-15" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: to 12" flat across from side seam to side seam

Cruise 2010 Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Runway Look 33 Silk Chiffon Dress w Oversized Floral Print

I Have A Question: Cruise 2010 Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld Runway Look 33 Silk Chiffon Dress w Oversized Floral Print

  • The twin of this dress walked the Chanel 2010 Cruise runway for Look 33.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld
  • The show was set on the boardwalk of the Venice Lido at dusk. "Coco at Lido" is how Karl Lagerfeld described this cruise collection. Vogue described the scene as Karl "reinstating the long-lost leisurely sensation of a fashion show as an exceptional one-off experience. The 350 guests reclining on sun beds in the famous white tented cabanas certainly felt privileged to be witnessing the extreme glamour of the designer's learned-but-light invocation of an important part of Coco Chanel's biography." The location was "one of Coco Chanel's favourite summer haunts—she visited Venice for almost ten years beginning in 1919 and met Diaghilev here".
  • The inspiration behind much of the show was the twenties and thirties and you can see that in the lines of this dress.
  • The dress is made out of a feather light ultra fine silk chiffon whose weave gives it the feel of a fine netting or mesh.
  • The silk is covered in a beautiful oversized floral print in dusky pastels done in a way that makes then look like they have been hand painted directly onto the fabric. The base colour is a deep blue-purple.
  • The dress is sleeveless and the very upper portion of the bodice around the shoulders is a single layer of the chiffon so that it has a touch of transparency. It is cut to skim over the bodice down to the waist. An attached panel of the same fabric wraps around your waist and hooks into place at the back for added shape and subtle detailing.
  • The dress falls from there in a swoop of feather light silk to the hem which widens out as it nears the floor. The back feels slightly fuller than the front so you get this pretty billowing effect around you when you walk. This is a signature Karl silhouette to give his dresses as much movement as possible.
  • The famous double C logo is worked throughout the floral print of the dress making it clear that you are wearing Chanel.
  • The dress is lined with the same fabric through the bodice and the skirt is lined with a layer of a deep blue silk. It closes at the back with a hidden set zipper and has a hook and eye at the back of the neck with a keyhole between the two. The dress appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Outstanding Spring 2003 Christian Dior by John Galliano Bias Cut Black Silk Chiffon Dress w Lace Details & Sequin Halter

I Have A Question: Outstanding Spring 2003 Christian Dior by John Galliano Bias Cut Black Silk Chiffon Dress w Lace Details & Sequin Halter

  • This dress is from the Spring 2003 Dior collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
  • The twin of this dress was worn by Jennifer Aniston to accept her award at the 2003 Golden Globes.
  • This is a dress that was made for the shops on a limited basis. A version with no sequins or lace, was also made that season, but this one with the extra detailing was only produced for a very limited amount of shops or special order.
  • The dress is made from a bias cut black silk that has a slight texture to it. This is mixed with a black lace and then the dress has additional sequin and bead detailing.
  • The front curves over you and then dips low at the back. You can see in the try on photos that when this is on an actual body it dips lower down the back and on more of a curve. This leaves your entire upper back bare and exposed.
  • Two straps extended out from the centre of the bodice and hook into place behind the neck. There is a heavy detailing of beads and sequins that follow the neckline of the dress and then scatter over and down the bodice. Both the straps are finished with a heavy detailing of beads and little black prong set black glass rhinestones. Where the straps attached at the front there is a panel of silk shaped to feel like the ends of a tie. This is made from one piece of silk that has been folded over onto itself and then cut into angles at its ends. It is heavily detailed with a beautiful scalloped pattern created by shiny black sequins and tiny little glass beads.
  • The top blouses over the waist and then there is a wide 11" panel of gathered black lace that starts at the waist seam and curves over the top of the hips. The fabric has some stretch so that you can adjust where it sits on you.
  • The skirt falls to the floor in a beautiful line. It is cut to curve over your hips and then flares out dramatically for the lower portion of the skirt. A slit runs up the front centre for some leg to show and this combined with the flaring cut creates incredible movement as you move.
  • It is a really exceptional dress and is extremely sexy once on the body.
  • The bodice is fully lined in a black silk chiffon and the skirt is unlined. It slips on to wear with no closures. In its original length. The bias cut and slight stretch of the fabric gives it some movement. I have given the comfortable range of the measurements while laying flat below. It appears to have worn very little if at all.
  • Tagged a vintage Dior US4, GB8, FR36.
  • Excellent condition

Bust: to 18.5" flat across from side seam to side seam. The smaller you are through the bust the more the back will drape since the halter holds it in place at the front.
Waist: 12.5-15.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 15.5-19" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 25" from neck to waist but once on the top drapes over the waist seam and it is approximately 15 to 16" from the neck
Total length: 73.5" from neck to hem but once on and the top drapes over it is approximately 63.5" long. There is some play with the length depending on how high you hike the area around the hips.
Slit: 27"

Beautiful 1980s Louis Feraud Glossy Black Sequin Silk Chiffon Dress w Tiered & Ruffled Sleeves

I Have A Question: Beautiful 1980s Louis Feraud Glossy Black Sequin Silk Chiffon Dress w Tiered & Ruffled Sleeves

  • This gorgeous dress dates to the 1980s.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Louis Feraud
  • Feraud opened his first boutique in 1950 in Cannes selling sundresses to the jet set. By 1956 he had moved to Paris and opened a couture atelier and in 1960s made his first official couture presentation. Ready-to-wear followed in 1970. He won the Golden Thimble in in 1978 and again in 1984.
  • The dress is made out of a black silk chiffon that is densely covered in glossy black sequins.
  • The neckline is cut wide across and then a single layer of black silk chiffon covers to where the sequins start and extend out into the sleeves.
  • The sleeves are phenomenal. Each sleeve has three tiers of pleated silk chiffon wrapped around them. The ruffles start just above the elbow and then they fall in stacked tiers to the wrist. Each sleeve is wide and the layers create fantastic movement. I love how the upper portion of the sleeve is transparent and then you have the drama and movement of the lower part of the sleeves when you move.
  • The sequins start just above the bust and the dress is cut to skim over you past the waist and hips and fall to the hem. As it nears the hem it widens out a touch for a really beautiful line.
  • The sequins are densely applied to cover the entire dress from the top edge of the bodice all the way to the hem. The way this lets the dress catch the light from every angle is fantastic.
  • A slit runs up from the hem on one side that lets a bit of leg to show when you walk or move.
  • The body of the dress is lined in black and the upper bodice and sleeves are unlined. It closes with a back zipper that starts at the sequins and there is a button to close behind the neck with an open slit between.

Gorgeous Fall 2006 John Galliano Weightless Black Silk Chiffon Dress w Sequin & Bead Detailing

I Have A Question: Gorgeous Fall 2006 John Galliano Weightless Black Silk Chiffon Dress w Sequin & Bead Detailing

  • This is an amazing example of Galliano's work from Fall 2006 collection.
  • The dress was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
  • The more elaborately beaded pieces were usually released in more limited quantities.
  • It is very similar to a dress that I had in the shop before but this one is more elaborate and much longer. It is a really striking dress that is also very easy to wear because of its simple and bias cut.
  • The dress is made from three layers of a feather light black silk chiffon that are all attached to each other at the top of the shoulder and then float over each other from there. The very inside layer is a black silk chiffon with no texture and then the two top layers are a textured silk chiffon.
  • The dress has a very loose and easy cut through the body so is very easy to wear and comfortable once on the body.
  • The bodice has a draped neckline at the front and it does the same at the back. One shoulder is cut wider across and this is what extends out to form the neckline. The other shoulder is more delicate in feel and it is edged in lace. A small bow sits on the top of the shoulder.
  • The bodice on the side with the wider strap is detailed with pintuck that runs vertically down the dress. On the side with the more narrow strap the silk is swept up to one side and held in place with a flat bow and a bit of a ruffle. The ruffle runs down the length of the dress all the way to the hem.
  • This creates the illusion that the dress is wrapped around you and the bow is holding it in place. It is very clever.
  • A hand set design that combines tiny seed beads and silver sequins details the neckline and are set in little clusters that run down the length of the dress. These give the dress a pretty glint in the light.
  • Most of the edges of the dress have a raw finish which adds an extra delicate bit of texture to the dress that is lovely.
  • A slit runs up one side so you get a flash of bare leg when you move or sit and it is cut longer at the back so you get this fantastic sweeping feel behind you as move.
  • The bias really only comes to life once on. As good as it looks in the photos here it is even better in person and on the body.
  • The inner silk chiffon and middle tulle layer act as the lining underneath the top layer. The innermost layer has no closures. The middle layer closes with its own hidden set zipper and the very top layer closes with one of his signature tightly spaced rows of silk covered buttons. Because of the bias cut, it may come up slightly once on. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

I Have a Question

Phenomenal Fall 2011 Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture Runway Look Hand Beaded Red Silk Chiffon Dress

I Have A Question: Phenomenal Fall 2011 Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture Runway Look Hand Beaded Red Silk Chiffon Dress

  • The twin of this extraordinary dress walked the Fall 2011 Vauthier Haute Couture runway.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Alexandre Vauthier
  • Alexandre Vauthier launched his label in 2009. He started his fashion career in 1993 working for Thierry Mugler as an intern and working his way up to assistant designer to Mugler himself. In 1997 he joined Jean Paul Gaultier where he in charge of the Couture collections for the following eight years.
  • He left in 2008 to open his own couture atelier showing his first collection in 2009. From 2011 to 2014 the label was a designated guest member of the Chambre Syndicale de haute couture and since December 2014 he has been a full Couture member. Vauthier departed the label in 2025 it was acquired by Revolve marking the end of the Couture division.
  • This is the actual piece that was shown on the runway and may very well be the only one in existence. I love that we have both the runway reference photos and video. You can see how fantastically it moves and looks once on the body.
  • The dress is made from a red silk chiffon that has an extensive and very dense application of red bead work hand applied onto it.
  • Every line of the dress has been precisely cut and patterned so that it falls perfectly in the lines that he intended it to be shaped in.
  • The shoulders are soft and extend into long cut sleeves that are also completely and densely beaded to match the body of the dress. In the runway photo the shoulders look slightly more shaped than the dress in person to me and I think that they may have added temporary padding to style it for the show. Adding your own is a decision that could be made once you have it in hand and try it on.
  • The dress is cut to skim over the body and highlight it everywhere. The sleeves are cut a little extra long so that once on the arm they bunch up a touch. There is a cut out. opening that is left under each arm. I have photoed that so that you can see. This was probably done not only as a design choice but to allow movement and not have to worry about the bead work being constricted.
  • The neckline is scooped and the dress is shaped to come in at the waist and then curves back out and around the hips so that it skims perfectly over the body.
  • The beadwork that sits over the sleeves and body of the dress has been done and a little sections that curve around each other and catch the light differently as you move. You can see in the video how this creates an almost flame like feel over you.
  • The skirt is absolutely amazing. As the beads run down over the hips to join into the skirt they become these long flame like ribbons of bead work that extend into varying lengths down and into the skirt. The effect is absolutely beautiful and perfectly picks up on the way the beads were executed through the body of the dress.
  • Under the beadwork, the skirt is made out of a red silk chiffon that is very light and weight. It curves slightly up at the front and then extends out into two angled points at the back which again feels like an extension of the flame motif that the dress has.
  • You can see on the runway that once very bright lights hit the skirt, it has a sense of transparency to it. That is quite extraordinary and done to highlight the bead work and add a bit of sexiness to the dress despite it full coverage. At the back it trails out past the hem to float around you as you walk.
  • The dress is amazing on the body and it is just a beautiful and very sexy dress and an extraordinary little piece of true Haute Couture fashion history.
  • The upper portion of the dress is lined in a silk chiffon through the body and the skirt is unlined. It closes with a hidden set back zipper and each cuff closes with a hidden set zipper. This is the actual dress that was worn on the runway and is completely made by hand. It is the original runway sample dress. The beads have been hand sewn so closely to the edges of the zipper that you do have to take care when zipping and unzipping the dress as they can catch and you can see a little bit of catching of thread and perhaps the very occasional missing bead here and there along that edge. I am being pretty picky. This was done to give the illusion that the dress has no opening. Inside the silk chiffon that was used to line the dress is very delicate and there have been some repairs made. This was probably done after the runway show to strengthen parts of the inner lining and can be typical of runway samples. I also see a touch of a mark on one arm on the inner lining, a small tear and some repairs to the silk of the lining. None of this shows through but is mentioned for accuracy and is photoed after the label shot. Some of the seam work is handed basted and this adds to the feel that this is the original sample because that is often how you see runway samples finished.

1982 Ady for Givenchy Haute Couture Deep Copper Gold Silk Dress w Hand Done Sequin Detailing

I Have A Question: 1982 Ady for Givenchy Haute Couture Deep Copper Gold Silk Dress w Hand Done Sequin Detailing

  • The dress was made by hand in the atelier of Ady Couture who was based in Lausanne Switzerland
  • Ady was a couture trained seamstress and headed a team who had full permission of the Haute Couture houses she worked with to make the designs they showed in Paris for clients based in Switzerland and the surrounding areas.
  • She would purchase couture fabrics from the couture houses along with the patterns. This arrangement with the couture houses was a way to work around customs during this time period and do fittings for clients unable to travel to Paris. So far we have verified that she had this arrangement with Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Givenchy and Ungaro. There may have been others but those are the four labels we have documentation on from the runway.
  • This incredible Haute Couture dress came to me from the niece of the original couture client.
  • The dress is an authorized copy of the 1982 Givenchy Haute Couture fdress that we have included reference photos of here. I love having the runway photos so that you can see just how amazing it is in the body.
  • The dress is made from a deep copper gold silk. It is very light in weight but has enough structure to hold the stunning lines and volume of the dress. The colour of the silk is even better in person.
  • The neckline is a simple scoop and the bodice skims over your curves. The sleeves are incredible. Each one is set on a curve to follow the shape of the arm in the traditional manner of dressmaking. They are set into the shoulders with a beautiful series of soft pleats so that you get a bit of volume at the shoulder. They puff out slightly around the upper arm and then narrow down at their ends.
  • The waist is seamed but with a more generous feel. You can use the ribbon belt to cinch it in and add shape.
  • The skirt is one of the best skirts I have seen both from a design point of view and by its level of construction. It is gathered all the way around the waist in a series of soft pleats. These puff out slightly and this little couture trick gives the illusion that the waist is smaller then it is. A seam brings the top part of the skirt inwards and then the lower part of the skirt falls to the floor from there.
  • The lower portion of the skirt is made from several yards of silk so that it flares out beautifully as it falls.
  • Between the two sections is a wide velvet ribbon that wraps around the seam and ties into a bow at the side. Which beautifully picks up on the bow around the waist. The silk of the skirts are lined in a silk organza to help give support but it is really the genius of the cut itself that creates the shape.
  • An elaborate and intricate floral design runs across the front and back of the bodice and down each sleeve. Hand done embroidery work is combined with tiny black sequins and hand applied beads. It is some of the finest hand work I have seen.
  • The skirt is gathered all the way around the waist in a series of soft pleats. These puff out slightly and this little couture trick gives the illusion that the waist is smaller then it is.
  • Inside the dress is completely finished to couture standards with every seam finished by hand. I have taken some detail shots for you to see the fine workmanship inside. It is an incredible piece and absolutely beautifully made.
  • The bodice is fully lined in a matching gold toned silk and the skirt is fully lined with a soft gold toned silk organza. It closes with a hand set back zipper and the skirt snaps into place with silk covered snaps over that. Hidden set zippers at each wrist. Hand finished throughout. The velvet ribbon belt is not original to the piece but is included. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Made to Haute Couture standards with a tremendous amount of detail put into its construction. It is a slightly softer gold copper in person then how it photoed. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Spectacular Spring 2019 Christian Dior by Maria Grazia Chiuri Look 86 Gold Thread & Silk Dress

I Have A Question: Spectacular Spring 2019 Christian Dior by Maria Grazia Chiuri Look 86 Gold Thread & Silk Dress

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2019 show for Look 86.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri.
  • It was the second to last look on the runway and one of the best dresses shown. I think it may have been inspired by a dress that I have had in the shop - this Spring 1977 Jean Patou. When they show originally debuted I had shared this in my stories and now I have this modern Dior version for you. A true full circle moment.
  • I think it was one of the most beautiful pieces in the entire show and it is absolute magical in person.
  • The dress is made out of a light-weight silk that is covered in a gold metallic thread. The underlined silk has a bit of a pattern on it and then the gold has been applied over that.
  • The gold metallic part is done in a leaf pattern that trails over the entire dress. The metallic gold catches the light from all angles and gives it this wonderful added extra texture.
  • As it near the hem the gold begins to soften and change into the solid silk. The entire dress had been softly pleated and the pleating adds yet another layer of texture to the dress.
  • It is suspended from twisted straps that curve over the shoulder and cross over each other at the back. The front plunges into a V and the back is left bare underneath the crossed straps. I love the curving angle of the sides.
  • The waist nips in and then the skirt falls to the floor under that in a sweep of silk and gold thread. There is an incredible amount of fabric in the skirt. The fabric is feather light and so fine that when you stand still it falls in a column but moves around you with your slightest movement.
  • No matter how great the photos look it is that much better in person. The fabric is stunning. It is a really beautiful dress.
  • The dress is fully lined in a nude silk chiffon and closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. It is in it's original uncut length.
  • Tagged a modern Dior FR36, GB8, IT40, US4.

Prettiest 2000s Valentino by the Original Mr Valentino Red Dress w Bows & V Front

I Have A Question: Prettiest 2000s Valentino by the Original Mr Valentino Red Dress w Bows & V Front

  • This is a very pretty Valentino dress from the 2000s and is from the main label.
  • It was made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino.
  • The dress is made out of a beautiful red silk crepe  and then is highlighted with a more matte satin finish in the same red for the contrasting details.
  • The dress curves over the shoulders and it is set so that it sits a bit wider across the front.
  • The neckline comes down into a V and the fabric on each side of the neckline flips over to form the suggestion of a small collar.
  • Starting at the top of the neck on each side are two bands of silk that run vertically side-by-side all the way down the length of the entire dress to the hem. They are split partway up from the hem to create a slit so you get a flash of leg when you walk.
  • A small band of the same fabric crosses over those just below the bust and then there are these very pretty and interesting partial bows made out of the same silk. They sit up and off the dress on either side a touch and create a very pretty point of interest.
  • Pin tuck seams give some shape around the waist and add a little extra added detailing.
  • From there it skims over and past the waist and then curves over the hips. The skirt falls to the floor in a beautiful column of red and flares out quite a bit as it nears the hem.
  • The back of the dress is cut slightly longer and has extra fabric built-in so that you have a beautiful bit of a sweep behind you as you walk. I love how the dress falls in the lovely folds that you see in these photos.
  • The dress is fully lined in a red silk. It closes with a hidden set back zipper that follows one of the seams at the back to give the appearance that there are no closures. I see a bit of grubbiness along the back hem here and there. It is very minor but mentioned for accuracy.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition

I Have a Question

Spring 1980 Christian Dior by Marc Bohan Haute Couture One Shoulder Coral Red Silk Dress

I Have A Question: Spring 1980 Christian Dior by Marc Bohan Haute Couture One Shoulder Coral Red Silk Dress

  • The twin of the dress in white walked the runway for the Spring 1980 Haute Couture presentation
  • It was made under the creative direction of Marc Bohan.
  • The Spring 1980 collection was called "Return to Classism". The book Dior:Catwalk noted that the collection "focused on paired back silhouettes with defined shoulders, subtle and belted waists... "My look is one of softness and neatness." Bohan told Vogue. Vogue also noted the one shoulder necklines that were integral to the collection and that is shown so beautifully in this dress.
  • This dress would have been made entirely in the Paris atelier.
  • During this time period dresses with this black with white text Couture label usually denoted a custom order that was different from the presented piece on the runway. Being that the dress was shown in white on the runway this makes perfect sense.
  • The dress is made out of a red silk crepe that is a colour that is flattering on most skin tones, especially with its touch of a coral undertone.
  • I love the nod to classic minimalism that the dress displays.
  • A single wide shoulder curves up and over your shoulder and the opening that your arm slips through begins and is set slightly off the top of the shoulder so you have just the suggestion of a sleeve. It angles down across you on both the front and the back. The opening dips slightly low on the other side leaving that entire opposite side and shoulder bare and exposed.
  • It skims over the bust and blouses slightly over the seam at the waist. The silk is gathered in slightly at the waist and done so that it falls perfectly around you. If you wanted to add more shape you could easily add a belt.
  • The skirt falls from there and is constructed so that it wraps over itself to one side at the front and secured in place around the waist. A deliberate gap is left open near the hem and when you walk, move or sit, you get a flash of leg. You can see how this sits so beautifully on the body from the runway reference photos.
  • It is a dress that appears to be so simple in shape but every seam and line of the dress was purposefully and masterfully executed and planned.
  • The dress comes with a huge rectangle of finished silk in a matching colour that can be used as a shawl or partial cape piece. It is not photoed but will be sent with the dress.
  • This is an extraordinary example of his work during this time period and it is an absolutely stunning dress.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching red silk chiffon and closes at the side with a hand set zipper. An inner waist stay hooks to close. All of the work is done by hand to Couture standards. It appears to have been worn very little at all.
  • There is no size tag present because it is Couture so please go by the measurements listed below.

Beautiful Cruise 2011 Christian Dior by John Galliano Red Silk Chiffon Dress w Gathered Front

I Have A Question: Beautiful Cruise 2011 Christian Dior by John Galliano Red Silk Chiffon Dress w Gathered Front

  • This gorgeous dress is from the Cruise 2011 collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
  • On the runway there was a dress that used a similar pleat pattern on the front bodice for Look 26.
  • The runway show took place in Shanghai and Galliano said at the time that he was trying to "capture the feeling of Paris in its heyday".
  • The dress is made from a red silk chiffon that has a bit of a coral undertone and a touch of texture to it.
  • Wide straps curve up and around the neck and the back scoops down to leave your upper back bare and exposed. At the front the neckline plunges into a V.
  • The silk is gathered vertically on both sides at the front. All of the gathered pleats are held in place by a series of horizontal ruffles in a matching silk that run down the front. I love how the pleat work narrows down to a point at the waist. This helps to add the illusion of both length and a tinier waistline.
  • The skirt is gathered up and into the sides of the point at the front. It skims and curves over the hips and then it widens out as it nears the floor.
  • By the time it reaches the hem there is a lot of fabric there and this gives you fantastic movement as you move. This was a silhouette that Galliano loved.
  • A high slit runs up from the hem on the top layer of the skirt only. This lets that top chiffon layer catch the air and add even more movement as you walk.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching red silk. One of his signature rows of matching silk covered buttons and loops run down one side and this hides a hidden set zipper underneath to close the dress. It appears to have good morning very little if little effort at all.

Well Documented Fall 2018 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Green Velvet Halter Dress w Floral Skirt

I Have A Question: Well Documented Fall 2018 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Green Velvet Halter Dress w Floral Skirt

  • The near twin of this dress walked the runway as Look 65 for the Fall 2018 Valentino season.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli.
  • The entire world was in love with Pierpaolo and this collection was raved about. Vogue opened their review saying "Something is going very right at Valentino. It would be hard to name another designer in the establishment echelons of fashion who is putting out a more inclusive, relatable, and unforced sense of modern elegance than Pierpaolo Piccioli. They continued saying "How to put it? Where so many other designers have sought to meet these fraught times with throwbacks to ’80s-power-woman shoulder-padded templates, Piccioli has found a new cadence of expression. It includes flowing lines, flowers, layers, scalloped edges, and a vibrant, sophisticated colour sense. For evening, there was a wealth of options to cover all occasions, according to the person a woman might be. It might mean flowing, completely covered-up gowns or ankle-length A-line tunics with slim trousers beneath... Piccioli handled both minimalism, in spare, dramatic shapes, and decorative embellishment in blown-up floral appliques and jacquard... It recognized dignity and delighted in amazing colour. Bravo, Piccioli. This was outstanding."
  • I love that I have the runway photos and a reference video for you because they show how beautiful the dress is once on the body and moving.
  • It was worn on several red carpets and shot for various editorials that season. It is one of the best from a show that was filled with outstanding dresses.
  • The halter of the dress is made from a deep forest green velvet and then the skirt is a silk brocade that has a beautiful floral pattern worked over its entire surface. The black portions of the print in the skirt are a finely ribbed velvet that has an almost ultra fine ribbed corduroy finish to it. You can feel the added texture of the black parts of the print and it makes the print that much better.
  • The top is made from two simple triangles in a deep green velvet. They extend out from the waist into two long straps at the top that curve behind your neck, cross over themselves at the back, and then button and snap into place on either side of the little bit of velvet that curves around the sides and into the low back.
  • The halter front and tiny straps leave your sides and your entire back bare. It is the perfect balance between the dress feeling romantic and being very sexy.
  • The skirt is remarkable. It is set in around the waist in a series of tiny gathers and there is an internal stiffening around the waist to hold the shape.
  • The back of the dress has extra fullness built in and it is cut a touch longer so you get this beautiful sweeping feel behind you that just adds to the overall glamorous feel of the dress.
  • It is incredibly beautiful. And it has pockets.
  • The halter is backed with silk and the skirt is unlined. The straps button into place and the dress closes with a low hidden set back zipper at the waist. Ribbon edged finished inner hems. Some minor grubbiness here and there at the edge of the hem and perhaps the tiniest snag here and there on the skirt. These are minor, but mentioned for accuracy.

Outstanding Spring 1974 Yves Saint Laurent Floral Print Silk Chiffon Top & Skirt Set

I Have A Question: Outstanding Spring 1974 Yves Saint Laurent Floral Print Silk Chiffon Top & Skirt Set

  • This set is from the Spring 1974 YSL Rive Gauche collection
  • It was made under the creative direction of Yves Saint Laurent
  • We found several reference photos of other pieces that appeared on the runway that have the same print. The print is also documented in one of the books on his work. The twin of this may also have been presented on the runway but there is not full documentation of these earlier collections.
  • I love that it is a set made up of two pieces. It looks like a full dress when worn together but you still have the versatility of being able to mix and match each piece with things you already have in your wardrobe.
  • The colours in the silk chiffon are amazing. The silk has held the colour extremely well and they are as crisp and vibrant as the day it went on the shop floor.
  • Yves was a master at choosing the fabrics that were the perfect compliment to the prints that he used. This dress is no exception to that rule with its riot of bright blue and red flowers covering its surface. The choice of the silk chiffon make both pieces feather light and allow the skirt to float around you when you move.
  • The bodice is cut to skim over you with a loose and easy feel that is close to a box cut. It buttons at the front with matching silk covered buttons. The collar is neat and extends out into an attached tie at the neck. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves go to just around the elbow. Each one is cuffed and full above their cuffs so that they puff out around your arm. I have shown the top both tucked and un-tucked so you can get an idea of the cut. I love the slight transparency that the top has with its single layer of silk chiffon.
  • The waist of the skirt is finished with a small band for shape and then it curves out to be more loose and generous over the hips. From there it falls to the floor. It flares out quite a bit as it nears the hem and one side of the hem is cut slightly shorter than the other. You see this often in his work from this time period. It allows for a little bit added movement and it seems to have been a bit of a signature for him during this era.
  • The top is unlined and the skirt has a lining of a nude silk chiffon. The top buttons to close and each cuff buttons to close. There is an attached tie at the neck of the top. The skirt closes at the side with a flat hook and eye at the waist and a zipper under that. It appears to have been worn very little at all.
  • The top is tagged a 38 and the skirt is tagged a 40

Prettiest Resort 2009 Valentino by Alessandra Facchinetti Look 16 Palest Dusty Green Silk Organza Dress

I Have A Question: Prettiest Resort 2009 Valentino by Alessandra Facchinetti Look 16 Palest Dusty Green Silk Organza Dress

  • The twin of this gorgeous dress was presented for the Resort 2009 collection for Look 16.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Alessandra Facchinetti
  • Vogue noted that it was her third Valentino collection and for this one she "sketched a portrait of a lady in soft hues - pearl grey, icy white, and blush pink - punctuated, with pops of chartreuse and a rich fuchsia... Ruffles found their most elegant expression in organza gowns. Smartly paired with metallic flats these embrace the bodice before walking into the floor". There were three gowns presented in this similar cut - one in black, one in this dusty pastel gray green, and one in a white. This was the more elaborate of the three.
  • Its twin with a wide belt added around the waist was worn by Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, and I love that those reference photos and the presentation reference photo lets you see just how beautifully this one is on the body and how it moves.
  • The dress is made out of a pale pastel green silk organza that is cut to be more fitted around the bodice and then flows in a cascade of ruffles over the skirt. The fabric choice keeps the dress light in weight and gives it beautiful movement.
  • The entire top portion of the dress is gathered in from the shoulders down and into the waist on curves that angle towards the centre. The straps are a touch wider as they curve over the shoulder and it comes in at the waist. The gathering and draping over the bodice is beautiful and detailed.
  • Edging the front neckline is a series of little raw edged bows that are held in place by a heavy application of hand applied beads, stones, rhinestones, sequins and metal thread. This follows the neckline all the way down to where it crosses and insert into the waist. There is a modesty panel that keeps it from being too low. If you did wish to have this have a full plunging feel it would be easy to have that adjusted to follow the V of the neck line.
  • The skirt falls from under there and it is a little masterpiece of panelling and drape.
  • The front is a lighter almost silk jersey and it is heavily gathered at the centre of the waist to fall and expand ot as it near the floor. A matching panel runs down the centre of the back that is not as tightly gathered as the one at the front.
  • The sides panels of the skirt are made of the organza and there are added panels of organza layered onto that to create those giant ruffles that you see falling down each side and around to the back. These fall all the way down to the hem and create that beautiful structure that you see in the photos.
  • Because the organza is so light in weight when you move, everything moves around you beautifully.
  • This is an extraordinarily beautiful dress and I love its added provenance with its royal tie in.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching silk chiffon. The skirt has an additional two layers of silk chiffon under the top layer and these act as the lining. I see a tiny repair near where one ruffle is stitched to the side, but it's on the underneath so does not show. The dress closes with a hidden set side zipper.

I Have a Question

Rare Spring 1978 Philippe Venet the Haute Couture Runwau Sample Pale Mint Silk One Shoulder Dress

I Have A Question: Rare Spring 1978 Philippe Venet the Haute Couture Runwau Sample Pale Mint Silk One Shoulder Dress

  • This is the actual runway sample piece that walked the runway for the Spring 1978 Philippe Venet show.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Philippe Venet.
  • The dress has it proper Couture tag and its handwritten tag designating its show number and the model. I love that we found a reference photo so you can see how fantastic this dress is once it is on an actual body.
  • Philippe Venet apprenticed to a local tailor who was authorized to make Balenciaga designs. In 1951 he moved to Paris and became a cutter to Schaparelli. From there he met Hubert de Givenchy and in 1962 joined his atelier where he was the head cutter. In 1964 he opened his own Haute Couture label with Givenchy's blessings and support. His work tended towards minimalism and clean lines. His business was never as large as Givenchy's which allowed him to be more hands on for a longer period of time. Couture pieces from him are very rare and hard to find.
  • The fact that it is the actual sample piece makes it even that much more special.
  • Its construction is at the level of a runway sample. So you do see some slight roughness in some of the seams, even though everything is completely done by hand. This is appropriate for a couture runway sample.
  • Both pieces are made from the palest possible mint green silk. The colour is magical and as good as it is in the photos, it is better in person.
  • The dress is two pieces. There is an inner dress which I have photoed on its own so you can see it's construction. This is suspended by tiny straps that curve over the shoulders and then crisscross at the back.
  • The back is left bare and exposed. The V at the back is set slightly off centre and it follows the pretty angle of the hem. To make this work, the zipper has been set slightly off-side at the base of that V rather than in the exact centre.
  • This inner dress glides over the body in a beautiful bias cut that has a more generous cut waist, curves over the hips and then falls to the angled hem.
  • Over this goes a loop panel fabric that is attached at one shoulder and then falls down and over the inner dress. The closed side of it is what causes the dramatic swoop and drape you see.
  • I love that you can wear this overlay on either side and it creates two different looks. If you wear it on the same one shoulder look side, the whole looks takes on the feel of a more one shoulder dress. If you wear it on the other side you get this interesting cross-over effect at the top and at the hem.
  • This really gives you three dresses in one because you can wear the inner dress on its own and then depending which shoulder you wear the outer piece you get two distinct looks from that.
  • This is very rare piece of documented Venet with the extra fashion history of knowing that it was the actual runway piece.
  • Both pieces are unlined and slip on to wear. There is a hand set zipper at the back of the dress as described above. It is entirely made by hand. There are some small marks on the dress here and there. Everything is minor and it is wearable as is. I have added several shots so you can see. It is not perfect, but it is 100% sound and wearable as is. All of the flaws are minor. Its easy draping cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes.
  • There is no size tag present, so please go by the measurements listed below
  • Excellent condition

Inner dress
Bust: 15-17.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 14-17" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 17-20" flat across from side seam to side seam
Total length: 58" from top of bodice to the longest point and 42" to the shortest.

The overlay
It slips on to wear and will fit any size because of its open cut down the side. It is 61" from the top of the shoulder to the longest point.

Fabulous 2010 Alexander McQueen Bias Cut Liquid Black Silk Dress w Amazing Wide Loop Sleeves

I Have A Question: Fabulous 2010 Alexander McQueen Bias Cut Liquid Black Silk Dress w Amazing Wide Loop Sleeves

  • This dress is from the 2010 Alexander McQueen season.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
  • A copy of this dress that was re-issued in an ivory for the 2011 wedding collection and versions were also made in 2007.
  • I love having this version. It has that same bias cut draped feel as the McQueen that Elle Fanning borrowed and wore recently so we have added a photo of that to give you an idea of it on.
  • The dress is made from a beautifully weighted silk that has that same liquid feel that the best of the 1930s pieces did that were made from this similar fabrics.
  • The colour is fascinating. It is a black in most lights, but in certain bright lights it has a blue undertone that comes out and gives it the appearance of an almost deep deep blue black.
  • Like those dresses of the thirties this is also cut on the bias but with a more shaped silhouette. I love that the fabric is heavy enough and that the dress is lined so that it will not highlight 'flaws' underneath like some bias cut pieces can.
  • It is cut to flow over the body and skims over the bust, waist and hips to the floor.
  • The neckline drops into a V at the front. It glides over the bust and there is a soft curving seam that starts at the bust and runs down into the side seam. This not only helps to add a little shape but it also becomes this interesting design feature and a subtle way for him to work in one of his signature angled seams.
  • The skirt continues past and over the hips and then flares out as it reaches the hem. At the back there is extra fabric worked around the centre seam to give you a trained effect behind you.
  • This flaring out at the bottom and the extra bit at the back give you fabulous movement when you walk or move.
  • The sleeves are incredible. They are set in these soft loops around each arm. They leave the sides of the shoulders bare and really add to the thirties feel of the dress.
  • The dress is fully lined in a black silk mix and closes with a hidden set back zipper. The bias cut fabric has some stretch so should allow it to fit a range of sizes. The measurements below give you the comfortable range the fabric has when lying flat. It is in its original length.

Spring 2004 Valentino by the Original Mr. Valentino Black Pleated Bodice & Ruffle Skirt Dress

I Have A Question: Spring 2004 Valentino by the Original Mr. Valentino Black Pleated Bodice & Ruffle Skirt Dress

  • This dress is from the Spring 2004 Valentino collection
  • It was made under the creative direction of the original, Mr. Valentino
  • We have included some photos from the Spring 2004 Valentino collection of dresses with similar elements to this one. This is a dress that was produced for the shops and it is absolutely gorgeous.
  • The dress is made out of a feather light black silk chiffon and the lightness of this fabric choice creates a soft and romantic feel as it floats over your body.
  • The entire dress is cut to allow it to drape beautifully over the body and highlight your curves.
  • The bodice is finished with tiny and precise pleats that wrap all the way around to the back. The top of the bodice is gathered into a sweetheart and the back sits on a slight curve to leave the upper back bare and exposed.
  • A ruffled panel of black silk chiffon is set along straps that are meant to sit off the shoulder. Once this is on a body, it will sit around the upper arm. I think, depending on the space between the shoulder and bodice you might also be able to wear this on the top of the shoulder.
  • The waist is cinched and seamed to follow the curve of the body.
  • From there it curves out and over the hips and the panels of chiffon that make up the skirt float around you as the skirt falls to the floor.
  • The skirt is a little masterpiece in its own right. It is actually made of a series of panels that are all set in around the waist. They are attached together to just under the hip and sat in a way so that they overlap each other as they fall to the floor.
  • Each panel is a long rectangle that widen out to their curved ends. Each of the individual panels are finished with a ruffle of a matching black silk chiffon that runs all the way around the entire panel. I love how the ruffle is smaller near the top of the hip and then also widen out as it circles around the bottom of each panel.
  • The panels overlap each other as they curve around you but there is no inner lining. It is the overlapping and the multiple layers of the panels that make it opaque enough to wear.  Besides making it wearable, the separation of the panels once they get past the hip area is what allows the extraordinary amount of movement that the skirt has when you move.
  • The silk chiffon that was used is feather light and the dress is a dream in person.
  • The dress is fully lined in a black silk chiffon through the bodice and the skirt is constructed as described above. It closes with a hidden set side zipper.  It is in its original uncut length. I see a tiny repair near the hem and along the hem. Both extremely minor. It otherwise.appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Gorgeous Spring 2006 Christian Dior by John Galliano Black Chiffon Bias Cut Dress w Capped Sleeve

I Have A Question: Gorgeous Spring 2006 Christian Dior by John Galliano Black Chiffon Bias Cut Dress w Capped Sleeve

  • This is a stunning black chiffon dress from the Spring 2006 Christian Dior collection
  • It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano
  • This dress feels magical. This is in part because of the perfect bias cut of the black chiffon that is such a signature of John's time at the label.
  • As with many Galliano pieces it is meant to be on an actual body and not a mere dress form.
  • The way the fabric is cut and draped allow it to hug the body and skim over you from the bust to past the hip.
  • The dress has a wide set V plunging front that meets in the centre and twists into a knot. I love the angles this creates on the neckline and the nod to the 1940s that it gives the feel of the bodice.
  • The sleeves are gathered in along the shoulder and then they are gathered back in above where they go around the arm. This is another strong detail that is a nod to the thirties and forties, decades that you often see referenced in the best of his work.
  • Angled seams run under the bust to the sides of the waist and the fabric curves in there to give shape through the waist. From there it curves back out over the hips and falls to the floor in a widening expanse of chiffon. This helps to create its hourglass shape.
  • As the skirt near the floor it widens out considerably and this gives the dress extra volume there and also creates a gorgeous bit of movement around the lower skirts.
  • The perfect finishing touch is a high slit that runs up one side of the dress so you get a bare flash of leg as you move.
  • The entire dress is made out of a single layer of the black chiffon so it has a touch of transparency. This allows you to go as covered or bare underneath as you dare. It is so pretty and special.
  • The dress is unlined and closes with a hidden set zipper at the side. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Outstanding 2014 Christian Dior by Raf Simons Strapless Palest Soft Pink Dress w Tiered Skirting

I Have A Question: Outstanding 2014 Christian Dior by Raf Simons Strapless Palest Soft Pink Dress w Tiered Skirting

  • This was a special order dress from the Spring 2014 Dior collection and very few were produced.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Raf Simons.
  • Suki Waterhouse wore its twin to Cannes that year and I love that the reference photos and video show you how gorgeous this is once on the body.
  • The dress is made out of the palest pink silk that has a slight texture to the weave.
  • It is strapless and there is a full boned interior corset attached inside to help hold the dress perfectly in place around you.
  • The fabric skims over the interior corset and comes in at the waist. The shape is all created by the superb vertical seam work at the waist. From there it curves out and into the top upper portion of the skirt.
  • The skirt is made from two distinct tiers of silk. The first one forms a full long peplum layer that drapes beautifully full over the inner hips. This layer falls to just above the knee. I love the soft folds that it has as it falls around the body and the extra fullness built around the back. The shape is all created by the way the fabric has been patterned out over the body.
  • That top layer lies over a full inner skirt that is more fitted over the hips and then gradually starts to expand outward so that it becomes extremely full by the time it reaches the hem.
  • The front is cut shorter at the front and it is set on an upward curve. It continues to curve around to fall to a longer length behind you creating a beautiful sweep of fabric. Like the tier above it, it also has extra fabric built in the back to create a beautiful fullness behind you.
  • Both portions of the skirt are layered in a pink silk, and there is built in stiffen net around the hems of each to help hold the shape and volume that the skirts have.
  • This is a spectacular example of Raf's time at Dior and it is an exceptionally pretty dress. It might even make a spectacular gown for a bride.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching pale pink silk with a full built in boned and cupped inner corset. The corset closes with a series of Hook and I with two settings to choose from and then the dress closes with a hidden set back zipper over that. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

I Have A Question: Spring 2012 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 47 Nude Pink Feather Dress w Silver Thread Flowers Detailing

  • Due to new customs regulations this dress can only ship to a Canadian address. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about this.
  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2012 show.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta
  • On the runway it was styled with a white wrap that sat over the bust and arms and a heavily embellished belt. Once you strip those back and see the dress on its own you realize just how light and pretty the dress is.
  • Oscar showed the collection in his new showroom on 42nd street. The space had yet to be fully renovated and this gave the atmosphere a raw edginess and the styling reflected that. Vogue called the evening dresses 'entrance making' and the show felt fresh and new from his work of the past few seasons proceeding this one.
  • The dress is made from a pale nude pink silk base covered in netting. Onto this is an extensive floral applique made out of of silver sequins, silver metallic thread and silver lame insets
  • The dress is suspended by two little piped silk straps that curve up and over your shoulders. They attached into the peaked fronts of the bodice. Front panels across over each other and then the back has a pretty dip that leaves the upper back bare and exposed.
  • It cinches in at the waist and then curves out and over the hips.
  • The skirt cascades to the floor from there and is cut slightly longer at the back so that you get a beautiful sweeping feel as you walk away. Onto the skirt is an amazing application of feathers attached onto the top layer of netting. These come up at the front and then widen out to circle all the way around the bottom hem. They curve back upwards at the back. Every feather is stacked and layered over the one underneath. The bottom of the skirt is very full so the combination of the lightness of the silk and netting and the amazing application of feathers create this phenomenal movement when you move.
  • The dress is fully lined in a pale pink silk and there is light boning at the sides of the bodice. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Spring 2016 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri Runway Elephant Printed Cotton Dress

I Have A Question: Spring 2016 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli & Maria Grazia Chiuri Runway Elephant Printed Cotton Dress

On Layaway
  • The twin of this dress as well as a similar second version walked the runway for Looks 48 & 54 in the Spring 2016 runway.
  • It was made under the creative direction of both Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
  • The show was based on Africa as its inspiration and at this period of time the world was watching refugees attempting the journey to Italy. In the Vogue review for this collection Maria and Pierpaulo were quoted as saying; 'We probably feel that the greatest privilege in doing our work is that fashion can give a message,” said Chiuri. “We think every person coming here is an individual, and we can show that we can improve ourselves by understanding other cultures.'... 'The message,' added Piccioli, 'is tolerance. And the beauty that comes out of cross-cultural expression.'
  • The dress is made from an extremely light in weight cotton with an inner nude cotton layer underneath and then that is entirely covered in a stunning elephant and fauna print done in a combination of green and a pale mustard mixed with white.
  • Many of the pieces fused both Italian and African traditions , 'They met in the textiles' and the prints in the collection was described as "African-inspired prints with wax block detailed their Spring 2016 collection. The collection was praised for a respectful rather than literal interpretation of African cultural influences."
  • The lines of this dress are wonderfully simple and yet it still feels glamorous with the head-to-toe print.
  • The neckline is high and the shoulders soft. It skims over your bust to a slight more generously cut waist. The sleeves are long and they each have a button at the cuff and the sleeve puffs out above that.
  •  From there it curves over the hips and begins to widen out to the floor. There is a surprising amount of fabric in the skirt, but because of the lightness of the fabric, it falls in a more column silhouette until you begin to move.
  • The print that covers the dress is stunning. It is set to highlight the lines of the dress and is specifically placed to accomplish that goal.
  • The dress is unlined and closes with a hidden set back zipper. Each cuff buttons to close. It appears to have being worn very little if at all.

Rare Spring 2004 Roberto Cavalli Runway Look 23 Feather Light Silk Coral & Gold Print Dress

I Have A Question: Rare Spring 2004 Roberto Cavalli Runway Look 23 Feather Light Silk Coral & Gold Print Dress

  • A shorter cut version of this dress walked the runway for Spring 2004 Cavalli collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli.
  • The silk used on the dress is extraordinary and is all cut on the bias. It has a slight texture to it and the pattern that runs over the dress has the feel of being hand painted.
  • To achieve this effect the design would have been created specifically for the dress how it lays over the dress pre-planned before the silk was cut.
  • Following the pattern are fused lines made out of a gold metallic glitter for an extra touch of glitz.
  • The dress is suspended from tiny silk straps that curve up and over the shoulders to attached in at the back. Little triangle sit over the bust and they are set in with seams that angle down towards the sides. It skims over your waist and hips, and then the lower skirt falls in different lengths to hem.
  • The skirt is made up of panels that are attached into the dress on different angles. This gives it incredible fullness and allows it to open up around you when you move. It is cut longer at the back so you get this pretty sweeping line around you and this adds to the movement that it has.
  • The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear. The bias cut of the silk allows it to drape around you once on. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • Tagged a Roberto Cavalli vintage small.

Gorgeous 1980s Hubert de Givenchy Metallic Floral Silk Brocade Dress w Velvet Bodice & Bow

I Have A Question: Gorgeous 1980s Hubert de Givenchy Metallic Floral Silk Brocade Dress w Velvet Bodice & Bow

On Layaway
  • This Givenchy dress dates to the mid-late 1980s, maybe early 1990s
  • It was made under the creative direction of Hubert de Givenchy.
  • In 1952, Givenchy founded his namesake house on Rue Alfred de Vigny in Paris and quickly rose to fame as one of the grand couturiers. 16 years later for the 1968-69 season, he added a ready-to-wear line of clothing and accessories called 'Givenchy Nouvelle Boutique'. The line was initially sold in the United States exclusively through Bergdorf Goodman stores and was eventually available at other retailers as well. The line was high end and extremely well made. He launched this line to expand his customer base and it made to appeal specifically to his non-couture clients. This label continued until 1992.
  • This dress has the Givenchy Boutique label without the Nouvelle added and as far as I am aware this label was usually reserved for special orders that were made in the atelier and then shipped to the client without any Paris fittings.
  • You can see that in the many hand finishes throughout the dress. This level of construction can be considered Demi Couture from this time period.
  • The dress is made out of a beautiful silk brocade that has pink and copper flowers woven throughout the fabric. The pink and slightly coral parts of the flowers are done in a more matte thread and then the copper and gold parts are done with a metallic thread. As a result the flowers almost seem to glow off of the silk. It is an incredible vintage fabric.
  • The top of the dress has a low squared off neckline at the front that is made from a black velvet. It curves up and over your shoulders and has the same squared off opening at the back.
  • At the front it dips slightly at the centre and placed exactly in the middle of that dip is a large black bow of the same velvet that has stiffened netting inside to help hold its shape.
  • The sleeves are gorgeous. Each shoulder is shaped into a high cap. To help support the bit of a rise above the shoulder there is a stiffen thicker grosgrain ribbon that is pleated and stitched into place along the edge of the inner shoulder to add support.
  • The sleeves are cut so that they curve over your arm and narrow down slightly to a zippered wrist.
  • The top is meant to be more fitted and create a more empire feel.
  • The dress is shaped through the waist area with vertical darts to bring the fabric in and create the curve that you see.
  • The skirt falls to the floor from there and it flares out quite dramatically by the time it reaches the hem. I love how the width of the lower skirt perfectly balances the shape through the upper bodice.
  • It is spectacular and the cut and design are phenomenal. This is classic Givenchy for this time period.
  • The dress is backed in the same velvet where it goes over your shoulders and then the bodice and rest of the dress are lined in a black silk chiffon. It closes with a back zipper and there is a zipper at the end of each cuff. Hand finishes throughout and very well made.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below

Spring 2015 Dolce & Gabbana Runway Look 48 Silk Brocade Mini Dress w Elaborate Front Embellishments

I Have A Question: Spring 2015 Dolce & Gabbana Runway Look 48 Silk Brocade Mini Dress w Elaborate Front Embellishments

  • The twin of this dress was Look 48 on the Spring 2015 Dolce and Gabbana runway
  • It was made under the creative direction of Domenico Solce and Stefano Gabbana
  • This dress was only available as a special order piece and the original price was just over 20,000 euros. They were made on a very limited basis.
  • The embellishment on this piece was done to a Couture/Alta Moda level. It combines hand carved metal and has different kinds of embellishments that all been placed by hand in the pattern that you see over the dress on both the front, sides and back. There are small 3D silver flowers with pearls topping them, hand-made red patent leather flowers in various sizes, 3D three layered golden metal carved flowers with red crystal rhinestones, and big hand carved metal plates, with some of rhinestones directly embedded onto the metal plates. It is truly a work of art and showcases the very best of the Dolce ateliers.
  • I love that we have reference photos so that you can see how fantastic this is once it sits on an actual body.
  • The embellishments cover the entire front bodice of the dress and then run all the way around the band at the waist. The skirt is equally covered at the front with the embellishments continuing around to the sides. I have taken multiple photos, including ones of the dress laying flat so that you can see just how elaborate and wonderful all of the embellishments are.
  • The dress is made out of a white silk brocade that has a pattern on pattern to the silk for the perfect backdrop to the elaborate detailing added onto it.
  • The shoulders are soft and the sleeves curve over the top of your shoulder. The neck line is scooped. It skims over your bust to a wide band that highlights the waist. The skirt flares out to a mini length hem.
  • The dress is fully lined in a white silk and closes with a back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • Tagged a Dolce and Gabbana 40

Spring 2018 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Pink Silk Organza Dress w Rhinestones & Metallic Silver Appliques

I Have A Question: Spring 2018 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Pink Silk Organza Dress w Rhinestones & Metallic Silver Appliques

  • The dress is from the Spring 2018 Valentino collection.
  • It was made under the Creative Direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli
  • This was a red carpet favourite and its twin was seen on both Nicole Kidman and Nicky Hilton It is a beautiful example of how wonderful Pierpaolo could cut a dress.
  • Over the course of his time at Valentino Pierpaolo did several variations of these elaborate ruffled and embellished dresses in different fabrications and each is beautiful. The cut of the dress makes it easy to wear and it is very flattering once on the body. It has a beautifully feminine feel and is very striking with the addition of the ruffles. The pink is infinitely gorgeous on almost every skin tone.
  • The dress is fabulous and is even better in person than how it photoed here.
  • It is made from a pink silk organza mixed with panels of lace set in a chevron pattern that runs down the bodice and top of the skirt on both the back and the front. These fabric choices keeps it light in weight but still give it enough structure to hold that gorgeous shape that you see.
  • The neck is cut high with a band of lace running around the neck. A little ruffle of organza runs around the bottom of the collar and this sets the tone for the rest of the dress.
  • A ruffle details the top of each shoulder, the end of the cuffs, and then more ruffles are set throughout the dress and around the hem.
  • The bodice is cut to skim over you and I love the bit of play on transparency with the very top of the bodice and the sleeves with them being babe can you see if you can get them in yeah I like that a lot! I actually didn't even know that. I think that would do well. a single layer of the organza. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are long and slightly taper down to a ruffled wrist.
  • The waist is detailed with more ruffles and is cut slightly on the more generous size. This is a signature cut for him and makes the dress very easy and flattering to wear.
  • The skirt falls from there to the floor. It is wonderfully full and extremely elaborate. Chevron panels of lace detail the top portion of the skirt and then panels of organza continue down set on angles for the full length of the skirt. Every second panel of organza has a ruffle peeking out from underneath. The skirt is very wide by the time it reaches the hem and it has wonderful movement.
  • Over the entire dress is an absolutely gorgeous mix of hand set rectangular silver metallic sequins that are set vertically over the dress. These are mixed with hand set pronged rhinestones that follow the design of the dress. On the sleeves they are set in vertical rows and then throughout the dress they are set in angled rows to follow the chevron design of the lace and organza.
  • This was a special order piece and very few were made.
  • The dress is fully lined in a pink silk. It closes with a hidden back set zipper and buttons at the back of the neck. Each sleeve has a button at the wrist. It is in its original uncut length. It has its original tags attached and was never worn.
  • Tagged a Valentino 40

I Have a Question

Fall 1987 Bill Blass Runway Strapless Black Velvet Detailed Blue Silk Dress w Elaborate Back Bow

I Have A Question: Fall 1987 Bill Blass Runway Strapless Black Velvet Detailed Blue Silk Dress w Elaborate Back Bow

  • The twin of this dress walked the Fall 1987 Bill Blass runway.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Bill Blass.
  • I love that we found a reference photo from the runway so you can see just how fantastic this is once on.
  • This is the actual dress worn Mikey Madison to the Oscars Nominees Dinner in February and she landed on several best dressed lists as a result.
  • Bill Blass launched his label in 1970 when he bought out the Maurice Rentner label and re-launched it under his own name. Blass was arguably one of the most famous of the American designers. His forte was the ability to mix simple styles with unexpected materials in way that was very flattering to the wearer.
  • It is one of those dresses that looks amazing on the dress form but is even better on an actual person.
  • The fabric feels like art. The base is a rich blue silk and then onto this is a fantastic design made of out a black velvet. The velvet is very soft to the touch with a chenille like finish that gives the design a beautiful texture and softness.
  • The dress has the feel of an antique 18th century gown and I love this reference back to the past.
  • The top is a fitted and strapless with a band of black silk wrapping around the breasts. It falls from there to skim outward over the waist and hips, and then narrows back down to the floor as it reaches the hem. This gives the front of the dress a more long and lean feel but with a hint that something special might happen as you turn.
  • The back is the star of the show. Sitting over the top of the closure at the back is a large black velvet bow. This tops an added panel underneath that is very extravagant. The panel curves outwards and then loops back in to attach just under the hips. A second black velvet bow sits at the base of where it is attached back into the dress. A slit is hidden under the panel to give you room to walk while keeping the narrow silhouette of the hem.
  • The dress is fully lined in a black silk. It closes with a back painted metal zipper hidden under a seam and there is an inner hooked waist stay. There is light boning through the bodice. Hand work throughout. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • There is no size tag present, so please go by the measurements below.
  • Excellent condition

Bust: to 17" flat across from side seam to side seam

Fantastic Fall 1998 Giorgio Armani Runway, Ad Campaign & Exhibit Silk Skirt w Fall 2001 Sequin Top Set

I Have A Question: Fantastic Fall 1998 Giorgio Armani Runway, Ad Campaign & Exhibit Silk Skirt w Fall 2001 Sequin Top Set

  • The skirt from this set is from the Fall 1998 runway and then sequin top was shown on the runway for Fall 2001.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
  • The twin of the skirt walk the runway with a fitted long sleeved matching top. That version of the set was used in the ad campaign. It is also featured in their new Archivo online section, worn on the red carpet and featured in an Armani exhibit.
  • My client wore it with this sequin top instead that is also from the Armani main line and its twin was in the runway collection.
  • The base of the top is a blue chiffon that is a slightly different shade than the skirt. Because of the heavy application of sequins it works well together.
  • The top is a simple tank with a scooped front and back and a more generous cut through the body that makes it very easy to wear.
  • It is fully covered in blue iridescent sequins that are laid flat outside by side horizontally. Mixed into that are little tiny, silver, sequins and beads rose of tiny seed, beads and little shots of white sequins and red bead work. It's very pretty and the entire top has the sequence coverage on both the front and the back.
  • I love how at the back of the top it's left with no closures for the little bit of the bottom. This is a very Armani signature where he lets part of the closure stay open, so you have that little peak of the skirt underneath it and that little bit of extra movement.
  • The skirt is stunning. It's made out of a deep blue silk mix, and it is all cut on the bias. It has a flat front with an inner band that helps to hold it and give structure around the waist.
  • From there, it curves out over the hips and expands outward to the floor. The front is cut shorter, and then the back herbs around to become a sweeping train of silk behind you. There is a slit that runs up one side so that when you walk, you get a flash of leg.
  • I love that because it is two separate pieces. You can wear these together or mix a match either piece with existing things in your wardrobe.
  • The top is fully lined in a blue chiffon and closes with hidden set snaps at the back. The skirt is online and closes with a hidden set side zipper.
  • The skirt is tagged a vintage Armani 42 and the top has no size tag present.
  • Excellent condition

Outstanding 1967 George Halley Couture Heavily Embroidered, Rhinestone & Applique Soft Pink Dress

I Have A Question: Outstanding 1967 George Halley Couture Heavily Embroidered, Rhinestone & Applique Soft Pink Dress

  • The twin of this dress in a different colour resides in the permanent collection of the Met Museum.
  • It was made under the creative direction of George Halley.
  • Halley was one of the great American Couturiers.
  • George Halley started his career working for Charles James who said of the young designer that he 'was a genius at draping'. By the time Halley opened his own atelier in 1966 he was well on his way to fame. He won the Coty Award in 1968 and his work is on par with true couture. He is one of my personal favourite designers.
  • Women's Wear Daily called him 'a designer in a lovely world of his own' and that is how I feel about his work.
  • This is an absolutely outstanding dress that shows the extreme level of detail that was being done with Couture pieces in this era. This would have been made entirely by hand in his Salon.
  • A pale pink silk net tops a pink silk and then this has an elaborate detailing added over its surface with 3D velvet flowers, prong set rhinestones, hand beading and faux pearls
  • Over that is a application of hand done metallic embroidery that covers the top layer of netting.
  • The front has a high empire cut with an attached velvet band around the waist. This ends in a pretty and romantic bow at the back.
  • The workmanship on the stress is spectacular and I've included a lot of close-ups for you to see. No matter how amazing you think it looks in the photos. It is better in person.
  • The dress has been completely made by hand to a Couture level.
  • It closes with a back zipper and snaps over the bow. The dress is hand lined in a pale pink silk. I see a little bit of grubbiness on the velvet sash and bow. I feel like this could be removed and replaced with the original just cap to side so that you have all of the pieces, but it would be easy to add a sash of your choice and maybe even extend it down the back. There is some very slight change in colour along some of the edges of the inner pink silk lining, some minor grubbiness along the hem and some splitting of the silk on the inner hem along the very edge at the bottom. These are all minor but mentioned for accuracy
  •  There was no size tag present, so please go buy the measurements listed below.

Very Rare Spring 2007 Roberto Cavalli Green Pleated Silk Chiffon Dress w Open Back & Sides

I Have A Question: Very Rare Spring 2007 Roberto Cavalli Green Pleated Silk Chiffon Dress w Open Back & Sides

  • This dress is from the Spring 2007 collection and it is a version of the blue dress that walk the runway for look 14.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Roberto Cavalli.
  • Rihanna wore its twin to the 2007 Grammys which is an amazing reference for you to be able to see what this looks like on the body.
  • It is absolutely beautiful with its intricate pleating that runs over the entire dress. I love how the pleats are set in different directions to pick up on and highlight the cut of the dress.
  • It is made out of a light silk chiffon done in the prettiest soft green colour. It feels more of a pastel green in person than how it shot here.
  • The front panel is set to run across the body with all of the pleating done on an angle to follow the line of the neck line and of the bottom of the panel that wraps around the waist. Where your arm slips through there is a wide band of green silk that circles over the shoulder and around the arm.
  • A second panel extends out from the side of the waist and curves across the back to meet the opening for the arm. This leaves large portions of bare skin showing all the way down one side and above and below the panel of the back. It is very sexy.
  • The skirt and waist have a band of the same solid green used around the arm. The band is meant to sit a bit low slung on the hip and you can see that in the photos of Rihanna on the red carpet. If you wear it higher up the top will blouse over more.
  • There is a light line of tiny stitching that runs across the lower part of the front of the bodice. This is done so the silk doesn't sit way off the body if you chose to wear the waistline up higher and it blouses over. It is a brilliantly thought out technical detail.
  • There is an incredible amount of fabric in the skirt and the long vertical pleats help it to flare out. The lightness of the silk chiffon combined with the bounce of the pleat creates amazing movement when you walk.
  • The bodice is lined in a green silk and there is a built-in bottom part of a bodysuit that sits just inside and under the waist band. It hooks to close and helps hold the dress in place. The skirt is lined in a matching green silk chiffon. I see a couple of very tiny marks in the pleats of the skirt here and there and the faintest possible mark near the edge of the panel that goes under the arm. It closes with a hidden set back zipper and you just slip your arm through the circle at the side of the top.

I Have a Question

Documented Fall 1987 Arnold Scaasi Black Strapess Velvet & Green Silk Full Skirt Silk Dress

I Have A Question: Documented Fall 1987 Arnold Scaasi Black Strapess Velvet & Green Silk Full Skirt Silk Dress

  • The sleeved version of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1987 collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Arnold Scassi.
  • Scaasi launched  his boutique line in 1984 and it was high end ready-to-wear and very expensive. He was born Arnold Isaacs in Montreal and the name Scassi is simply his own surname in reverse. He studied in Montreal and in Paris, apprenticed at the house of Paquin and then worked with the legendary Charles James. In 1964 he opened own couture salon.
  •  It is very rare to find documentation of his work from this time period and I love having it so that you can see how amazing it is on. I think this strapless one is even better then the runway version.
  • You can easily see the influence of Arnold having worked for Charles James in this piece. The lines are dramatic and yet elegant.
  • The dress is strapless and the top portion of the dress is made from an inky black velvet. It is dramatically shaped at the front with wired peaks and a V plunge at the front.
  • It nips in at the waist and then angles down from one side low on the hip on the other. On the side that sits higher up there is a large bow detail that gives the effect of holding all the gathers of the skirt in place.
  • The skirt is set under that and the long angling seam on the opposite hip adds visual length to the dress as it extends down and into a deep point. The skirt is quite full and the shape and volume that you see is held by the inner construction.
  • Layers of tulle netting set underneath the outermost layer of silk. The green of the skirt is a true brilliant emerald. This unexpected shock of colour is fantastic.
  • The dress is fully lined in a green silky rayon. The bodice is lightly boned and it closes with a hidden set side zipper. Built in stiff tulle under skirts and the skirt is interlined in a green organza.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

Outstanding Fall 2001 Versace by Donatella Versace Runway Look 54 Green Silk Bias Cut Dress

I Have A Question: Outstanding Fall 2001 Versace by Donatella Versace Runway Look 54 Green Silk Bias Cut Dress

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway as Look 54 for the Fall 2001 Versace show.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Donatella Versace.
  • In the show notes, Donatella said "above all a woman must dress to please herself". In the book Versace Catwalk they noted that the collection "evoked a hedonistic pop culture moment – late 1970s? Early 1980s? – that was picked up throughout the collection and expanded upon by Steven Mizell when he photographed the advertising campaign in the Playboy mansion."
  • Vogue stated that many of the looks played on what she had just done in her Couture collection "fitted hips and corseted waist lines were all the core of her collection"
  • This dress was shown with a wide heavy belt on the runway and I actually think it is better without one.
  • The dress is made out of a soft sueded feeling bias cut silk with extensive seamwork. Top stitching details the seams and the entire back panel of the dress, all a heavy nod to the 1920s and 1930s.
  • At the front the dress comes down into a V and I love how the seam extends out from that V and falls on an angle to the side of the waist. The bias cut allows the dress to skim loosely over you in the most perfect way.
  • When the dress is worn without a belt it has shaped from how the back is constructed but has a more skimming and easy feel as it falls over the waist. More of the seamwork defines the angle panels that create the dress from under the bust to past the hips.
  • The dress curves out and over the hips and then it is brought in slightly by the final angled seam set just above the lower skirts.
  • The skirt is phenomenal. It widens out substantially and on one side there is a curved inset panel that adds even more volume. This gives it tremendous movement and volume when you move.
  • The back panel is phenomenal. This is where the dress really stands out. The sides of the front curve around and down into the low back and then the shaped panel falls over your back and into the top of the hip.
  • The panel is extensively top stitched which adds structure and shape to it. It is incredibly sexy.
  • I think this dress is absolutely phenomenal.
  • The dress is fully lined in a second, fully stitched inner layer of the same silk and it backs the entire dress. It closes with a hidden set zipper that runs along a side seam at the back. Some small areas here in there in the fabric have faded slightly. This gives it a slightly antique feel. I see a very faint mark on the back hip near the side and some slight loosening of the stitches in one spot. Please see the photos after the label. It is perfectly wearable as is and priced accordingly.
  • Labelled a vintage Versace 40
  • Great condition

Fall 2003 Gucci by Tom Ford Runway Look 10 Stretch Silk Dress + Black Corset Waist Cincher Belt

I Have A Question: Fall 2003 Gucci by Tom Ford Runway Look 10 Stretch Silk Dress + Black Corset Waist Cincher Belt

  • The twin of this set was Look 10 on the Fall 2003 runway.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Tom Ford.
  • We have included runway photos and video for you to see how beautifully this moves once on the body. In Vogue's review of the show they said that "This season every major designer is talking about creating a "beauty" strong enough to defy our anxious times. Backstage that was the word Tom Ford used to characterize his Fall collection for Gucci—a collection in which beauty was personified as a power vixen extravagantly armoured to face down a troubled world" The evening pieces were mentioned specifically "For evening, there were gowns constructed with cutout zones of sparkling mesh and frilled bra tops; others snaked to the floor, held in place with complex asymmetric straps crossing the torso and shoulders. If Ford is treading the territory mapped out by Thierry Mugler and Azzedine Alaïa in the ’80s, it’s no surprise. Much of fashion is heading in that direction >anyway, and Ford, after all, bases Gucci’s entire brand proposition on finding new ways of upping the ante on sex season after season."
  • This is a dress from one of the most incredible eras of Gucci.
  • I love that this dress is the twin of the colour chosen to walk the runway and that it has it's corset belt. The belts were sold separately but this listing is for both pieces together.
  • My client who is the original owner, verified that this colour of dress was only sold in a limited amount of Gucci shops and that they were produced in lower quantities, making it a more rare find. These usually do not have the matching corset belt since it was sold separately or they are in the all black colour that was sold and produced in greater quantities for retail.
  • The dress is made out of a silk blend that allows the silk to stretch and give.
  • The fabric is as light as air and that incredible stretch allows it to conform to your every curve and helps to create curves.
  • The neckline is meant to sit lower on the chest and it sits wide across the front. You can see that on the runway.
  • The sleeves are long and simple so that the seaming detail on the dress can stand out. The silk is gathered up and over the edge of the neckline in soft folds and then below that is the incredible seaming that shapes the dress around the body.
  • The seam work that he did for his time at Gucci was an integral part of his design philosophy. The seaming acted like embellishments, shaping the pieces and giving them added detailing.
  • The waist is seamed and it curves down and over the hips with insets there to hold and emphasize the shape.
  • The skirt falls under that, following the curve of the body with just a slight flare out at the back hem. At the back the seaming curves around from that waist area and curves underneath your bottom. The silk is gathered in along those curved seams to create ruching and there is a panel built inside where they meet just above the hem to give added structure and support.
  • The corset goes over top of that and it is made out of a thick stretch fabric that has an almost neoprene feel to it. It velcros into place at the front and then straps wrap around you and buckle into place to cinch you in.
  • This is a true stand out piece from Tom Ford's reign at Gucci and it is also incredibly sexy.
  • Unlined and closes at the back with a hidden set zipper. The belt has Velcro at the front and then buckles to close over that. Both pieces appear to have been worn very little if at all. The dress has its inner fabric tag with the Gucci name on it only. The fabric does have stretch and the measurements below are the comfortable range laying flat.
  • The belt is tagged a size 40.
  • Excellent condition.

I Have a Question

Ultra Rare 1990s Paco Rabanne Haute Couture Metallic Silver & Coral Dress w Chainlink Top & Headpiece

I Have A Question: Ultra Rare 1990s Paco Rabanne Haute Couture Metallic Silver & Coral Dress w Chainlink Top & Headpiece

  • This is a very rare Paco Rabanne Haute Couture set from the 1990s, maybe 2000s.
  • It was made under the creative direction of the original Paco Rabanne.
  • This is a very rare collector piece and is almost certainly the only one in existence. It most likely was a runway piece but it is very challenging to find runway documentation for his Couture shows from this time period. If we do come across it at some point, we will certainly send it to its new owner.
  • The set is made up of three separate pieces and you can wear them individually or together.
  • The inner dress is strapless and widens out substantially around the body as it falls, outward and down to the hem. The back is cut longer than the front so you get a fantastic swoop of fabric behind you as you walk.
  • Inside, there is a built-in inner bodice to hold the dress in place. This is the only thing holding the dress in place since the fabric that lays over the inner bodice is cut to be extremely open and full as it falls down to the hem.
  • The inner fabric of this piece is foiled silver fabric that has an black woven net with an orange woven applique set into the netting so that it that forms an organic pattern. This unique and innovative fabric is used for the entire dress part of the set. The fabric innovation that he was doing for his Couture shows really highlights how far he was pushing the envelope and how purely experimental his creations were.
  • Slipping over the dress is a one of his signature chain-link pieces. It has a part cape / part top feel to it. It combines plastic silver links that have a rhinestone in each of their centres, with round circle loops that are hooked together, plus little orange plastic and gold pieces. All the pieces are hand linked together in a nod to his traditional metal chain link. The top drapes down over the bodice with an upwards curve at the front. At the back, it extends far longer to well past the small of the back, ending in a point that perfectly picks up on the shape of the back skirt.
  • Each sleeve of the piece has been made to be very full and wide. They flare outwards at their ends and have an edging made out of with strands of the same pieces as the body of the top with an added little oval shape at their ends.
  • The original hooded head piece complete the set. It is extremely rare to have the headpieces included. These were almost always made for the runway show only and is the biggest clue that this was most likely the actual sample piece. The little handwritten tag that says 49 that is attached under the label was probably the order number in the show, giving us the second clue.
  • This incredible little headpiece simply slips over the head and is long enough that it covers the neck. All of the edges are finished with the same dangling embellishments you see edges of the on the top. An opening at the front allows your face to peak out but you are otherwise covered over your entire head. The beads are then all gathered into a 'knot" at the top. Once in place it gives the illusion that the headpiece and cap piece are all a singular piece of chain-link over you. It is incredible.
  • The dress is completely made by hand and I believe that this is the original sample runway sample dress. Under the tag is a handmade tag that says 49 and I believe that is the Look number that would've been shown on the runway. The edges are all handed basted and this adds to the feel that this is the original sample because that is often how you see runway samples finished from this era.
  • The dress has a built-in inner corset and this is what holds the dress in place around you. This inner bodice is lightly boned and has built in cups and meant to be fitted. Because of the excessive drape of the exterior dress you would be able to add and increase the size of the inner corset and you would never see any changes on exterior nor would it have any effect. That inner piece zips to close at the back and there is an attached waist stay that hooks to close. The dress closes with a series of snaps over that. There are dappled markings on a silver interior that show through to and under the netting. I believe this is all intentional as it is evenly distributed over the fabric on the silver parts of the fabric. There are some small pulls and stressing to the netting here and there.
  • There is no size tag present because it is Haute Couture. Please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition

Inner bust: 15-16" flat across from side seam to side seam
Inner waist: 11.5-12" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: open
Total length: 54" from top of bodice to the front hem and the back extends another 8" past that, with 1" turned under the entire hem.

Modern Sizing Equivalent: XS-SML based on the interior corset only. The rest of the pieces are more accommodating to a greater range of sizes. Please read the notes above.

Spectacular Spring 2000 Thierry Mugler Runway Nude Chiffon One Shoulder Dress w Acrylic Detail

I Have A Question: Spectacular Spring 2000 Thierry Mugler Runway Nude Chiffon One Shoulder Dress w Acrylic Detail

  • The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2000 runway and I am very happy to have video reference so you can see just how beautifully it moves.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Thierry Mugler
  • The dress is made out of a nude chiffon that is perhaps a touch paler than how it photoed here.
  • The dress is cut with Mugler's masterful eye and attention to detail.
  • It is suspended from one shoulder and the other is left bare and exposed. All the seaming on the dress is set vertically so that it enhances and highlights the curves of the body.
  • The bust and waist are created by the shaping of those beautifully curving vertical seams.
  • It skims over the hips and then falls to the floor with a slight widening out as it nears the hem. The hem is cut on a slight angle so that the side that has the shoulder is cut a little bit longer than the other.
  • The shoulder is detailed with a panel of fabric that you can sweep behind you for a bit of extra movement when you move.
  • At the very top of the shoulder is an extra large custom made piece made out of an acrylic that has pale green rhinestones embedded in it to follow its curves.  I love that little detail. These would have been custom-made for each dress.
  • The very outer layer of the chiffon is split quite high along the edge at the back and this adds incredible movement to the dress as you can see on the runway. You are still fully covered by the inner dress underneath.
  • It is an extraordinary dress that is both rare and very beautiful.
  • The dress is fully lined in the same fabric and closes with a hidden set side zipper. I see one tiny catch in fabric near the seam just above the hem. It is very minor and only mentioned for accuracy. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little if at all.

1970s Oscar de la Renta Coral Orange Wide Leg Pant & Long Caftan Tunic Set w Silk Cord Detailing

I Have A Question: 1970s Oscar de la Renta Coral Orange Wide Leg Pant & Long Caftan Tunic Set w Silk Cord Detailing

  • This set dates to the late 1970s and it was made under the Creative Direction of Oscar de la Renta.
  • These sets were easy to wear and ones like this one where made to cover a variety of occasions from casual entertaining to being used for less formal evening wear. It is a classic and easy feeling piece that still feels fresh and fabulous now. It is very rare to find the full set.
  • In the late seventies and into the eighties this caftan/tunic and pant look was at an all time high and many of the top designers of the day designed options for their clients who wanted the look but still wanted to wear their favourite brand name. This one is a great example of that.
  • Oscar was a master with cut and colour and this set has both.
  • Both pieces are made out of a fine silk that has a secondary floral pattern woven through the silk. Onto that is a design done in a matching silk cording.
  • The tunic completely unbuttons down the front so you can wear it layered over other pieces to act as an ultra light evening coat. It is perfect to be worn as a chic day or evening dress if you dare to wear it alone with the high front slit. And of course it perfectly pops over the matching pants for a chic evening pajama feel.
  • The silk is feather light and this lets it flows around you when you move or the slightest breeze hits it.
  • For added detail he used a matching coral cord embroidery to edge the neck and then run down the front. There is more cording at each cuff.
  • The tunic has long sleeves that taper down to the wrist slightly. The shoulders have a very light padding for shape and then it falls from there over the body widening out gently as it nears the hem. When you are standing still it settles perfectly about you but when you move you really get the sense of movement because of the slit at the front.
  • The pants have wide straight legs and an easy fit around the hip. The waist has a small band in the same silk.
  • Unlined and the tunic buttons down the front and has decorative buttons at each cuff. Light padding in the shoulders. The easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes. The colour has a slightly more pastel feel in person. There is one mark on the pant that is up toward the hip, so completely hidden when the tunic is worn over it. Please see the photo after the label shot.
  • The pants are tagged a vintage ODLR 8
  • Excellent condition

Striking Resort 2019 Alex Perry "Abigail" Brilliant Orange Full Length Capes Sleeve Dress w Open Back

I Have A Question: Striking Resort 2019 Alex Perry "Abigail" Brilliant Orange Full Length Capes Sleeve Dress w Open Back

  • The twin of this dress in black was presented for the Resort 2019 Alex Perry collection.
  • It was made under the creative Direction of Alex Perry.
  • Alexandros Pertsinidis is an Australian fashion designer who launched the Alex Perry label in 1992. His work has been featured on numerous the covers worldwide since then and is a favorite on the red carpet. It's been worn by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Rita Ora, Katy Perry, Lupita Nyong and countless others.
  • The twin of this dress was seen on the red carpet on Britt Lower and Dina Amer.
  • The dress does not have a single unnecessary seam. It really shows how sometimes absolute minimalism is best.
  • The dress is made from a combination of a brilliant orange crepe through the body with a matte satin crepe for those incredible sleeves. The fabric choice has a beautiful drape. This is what lets it move so beautifully over the body once it is on.
  • It is constructed so that it drapes and skims over the body perfectly. The skirt falls to the floor in a sweeping expanse of fabric. When you stand still it looks more like a sleek column but when you move you realize how much fabric is in there as it billows out behind you.
  • The bodice drapes softly over you at the front and the shoulders are padded inside so that they have a defined and shaped silhouette. Caped sleeves fall all the way to the floor to create this elegant and dramatic feeling over your arms.
  • The fabric has enough weight that it stays in place when you are standing still but when you move you get a billowing effect around you.
  • The waist has a touch of stretch so the dress is easy to fit and should work on a range of sizes.
  • At the back there is a full cut out that leaves your entire back bare. This unexpected expanse of skin when you turn around is amazing.
  • The inner part of the front bodice is lined in an orange matte satin with extra define seaming to help shape the bodice. The skirt has an inner underlay skirt in the same fabric and the sleeves are unlined. It closes with a hidden set zipper at the back waist and buttons at the back of the neck.  It comes with its original hang tag attached and was never worn.

I Have a Question

Beautiful Late 1980s Pierre Balmain Pastel Blue & Yellow Feather Light Strapless Silk Dress w Full Skirt

I Have A Question: Beautiful Late 1980s Pierre Balmain Pastel Blue & Yellow Feather Light Strapless Silk Dress w Full Skirt

  • This is a phenomenal dress by Pierre Balmain from the late 1980s - early 1990s.
  • At this point in history the Couture line was called simply Pierre Balmain and the main ready-to-wear line was called Ivoire de Balmain. Depending if it was late 1980s or early 90s, the creative Director would have been either Erik Mortensen (up 1989) or Alistair Blair (who joined in 1990 to over see the RTW line while Erik continued Couture).
  • The dress is made from a beautiful silk that is extremely light in weight. When this is on it is almost like wearing nothing.
  • Onto the silk is an over-sized check pattern that mixes pastel yellow with shades of soft blues. Some parts have an almost iridescent pale green finish to them and there are also muted deep golds and taupe.
  • It is strapless and fitted at the waist. The lower skirt widens out considerably from there to the hem. There are yards and yards of silk making up the skirt.
  • The back is cut longer than the front so you get this beautiful sweeping feel behind you. The silk that was used is so very light in weight and it is all cut on the bias which allows it to float and moves around you with your slightest movement.
  • I love the way there is extra fabric built-in at the back. The fabric wraps over itself for a few inches to hook into the inside the waist and also on the outer part of the waist. This adds extra fabric to the gorgeous sweep of volume of the back skirt.
  • Inside the bodice is a lightly boned and cupped inner corset that holds the dress in place. It is made out of the same fabric. The rest of the skirt is unlined. The dress closes at the back with a hidden set zipper and an inner waist stay hooks to close. The silk at the very back of the skirt hooks over itself as described above.
  • It is tagged a vintage Balmain 36

Dreamy Fall 2008 Ungaro by Esteban Cortazar Runway Look 18 Printed Chiffon Backless Halter Dress

I Have A Question: Dreamy Fall 2008 Ungaro by Esteban Cortazar Runway Look 18 Printed Chiffon Backless Halter Dress

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 2008 Emanuel Ungaro collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Esteban Cortazar.
  • Estaban headed the label from 2007 to 2009, succeeding Peter Dundas. He was only 23 when he began there.
  • He brought a softer look to the label and you can clearly see that in this dress. On the runway this dress was shown with a wide belt. And you could certainly add one if you wanted to add some more shape but I love it just on its own as shown here.
  • The dress is made out of a printed silk chiffon with a soft, pale, grey tone, floral pattern worked over at surface. The silk is interspersed with silvery toned pale grey panels of jersey that help shape the direction of the fabric and add some structure to create the way the dress falls over the body.
  • A band of fabric wraps around the neck and then extends out into long ties that fall down the back in the most beautiful way.
  • At the front the silk is gathered into the band at the neck and then sweeps down and around to the back.
  • This leaves the sides partially exposed and the entire back from the waist up is left completely open and bare. Only the ties that extend from the back of the neck break the bareness of the skin there. It feels soft and feminine yet very sexy at the same time.
  • The waist is seamed and the front halter blouses over the seam. Under that the skirt curves out and over the hips and then sweeps down to the floor.
  • The jersey panels are set in curving angles down one side of the dress with the silk set so they blouse slightly over the jersey insets. This perfectly ties the way the top blouses over at the waist and creates a pretty detailing all the way down the skirt.
  • The very lower portion of the skirt is quite full and moves beautifully as you move. You can see that in the reference runway video here.
  • It is a very romantic and beautiful feeling dress.
  • The dress is fully lined in a pale grey silk chiffon through the bodice and stretch pale grey jersey through the skirt. It closes with a hidden set zipper and snaps along the back waist. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below

Outstanding Spring 2009 Nina Ricci by Olivier Theyskens Runway Look 12 Floral Printed Silk Dress

I Have A Question: Outstanding Spring 2009 Nina Ricci by Olivier Theyskens Runway Look 12 Floral Printed Silk Dress

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2009 Nina Ricci
  • It was made the creative direction of Olivier Theyskens.
  • In Vogue's review of the collection they said "Olivier Theyskens' collection for Nina Ricci was like watching the performance of a long piece of self-referential romantic poetry. It's a world of his own, and to fully appreciate it, you need to know what's gone before in his work: his love of Edwardiana and tailcoats; the fluttery, flyaway cutting; the delicate prints and the dusty, organic woodland-floor palettes he likes. Essentially, it was a single silhouette, with a high collar, leg-of-mutton sleeves, and skirts cut away to show long lengths of leg, clad in sheer black tights, walking on high-heeled pump"
  • Theyskens said he was "inspired by dance and dresses that each evolved their own shape, short in the front and long in the back."
  • Pieces from his time at the Nina Ricci label are an important piece of Theyskens history.
  • The dress is made out if a hand dyed silk with a print that suggest flowers in soft pastels. It has a touch of a watercolour painting in feel.
  • Under the top layer is a second pale pink tissue silk layer that is cut to follow the lines of the dress and it peeks out from behind the edges of the entire piece.
  • The bodice is very feminine in feel. The pink tissue silk under layer is cut to give a touch of a ruffle feel all the way around the straps that curved up and over the shoulders.
  • At the back there is a rounded soft scoop that leaves your entire back bare and exposed. The pink silk underlayer peaks out to create a touch of ruffle all around that scoop.
  • Vertical seaming creates shape through the waist and then the dress curves back out and over the hips.
  • The skirt is extraordinary. Depending on your height, it will sit just from mid thigh to above the knee. From there it is set so it has a slight ruffled feel all the way down the sides to the floor and then the back sweeps out behind you.
  • The silk used is extremely light in weight so this moves fantastically. I love that we have reference runway stills and video for you to be able to see how beautifully it moves.
  • This is an extraordinary example of his work during this time period.
  • The dress is fully lined in a pale pink tissue silk as described above and closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little.

Prettiest Fall 2019 Alessandra Rich Black Version of Runway Look 46 Bias Cut Silk & Sequin Lace Dress

I Have A Question: Prettiest Fall 2019 Alessandra Rich Black Version of Runway Look 46 Bias Cut Silk & Sequin Lace Dress

  • The twin of the dress in a white walked the runway for Look 46 for the Fall 2019 presentation.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Alessandra Rich.
  • Leonie Hanne wore the twin of this dress to the fashion show in 2019.
  • The silk that it is made out of is feather light and cut on the bias. It skims over the body to follow your curves all the way down in a beautiful and flattering way.
  • The sleeves are cut with a high peak on the shoulder and there is a little bit of stiffening along their inner edges to help hold the shape that you see. They narrow down as they reach the cuffs and there is a lace and net inset at their ends that forms the cuffs.
  • The front dips low and has a touch of transparency. It is a combination of lace and netting with a second cut out layer that sits over each breast to make it a bit more opaque. The lace plunged down to the waist so it has a very sexy feel.
  • All of that front detailing is edged in sequins that pick up the light fantastically.
  • The netting continues down the sides and the back is covered with a layer of the black netting and lace for a gorgeous exposure of skin through the lace netting.
  • The skirt is cut longer at the back than the front for a bit of a sweeping feel behind you.
  • Unlined and closes with a back hidden set zipper. Each cuff has a hidden set zipper. The fabric has stretch and the comfortable range of measurements are listed below when laying flat.
  • Tagged a modern 42
  • The dress is new with its original tags and in its original uncut length. Excellent condition and was never worn.

Sleeves: approx 29" and are 17" around the upper arm
Bust: to 18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12.5-15" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 20-24" flat across from side seam to side seam
Total length: 63" from top of shoulder to front hem and the back hem extends another 9"

Beautiful 2000s Valentino Roma Black Bias Cut Silk Chiffon Dress w Front & Back Plunge & Silver Sequin Bow

I Have A Question: Beautiful 2000s Valentino Roma Black Bias Cut Silk Chiffon Dress w Front & Back Plunge & Silver Sequin Bow

  • The Valentino Roma label launched in 2000 to take the place of the Miss V line. It was sold at a price point that was a bit more accessible then their main line and was meant to be available in more shops then the main line would be. The pieces were very well made. This one caught my eye simply because of how gorgeous and sexy it is. It is a stunning dress with beautiful lines.
  • The dress is made out of a black silk chiffon that is cut on the bias and flows over the body beautifully. The fabric choice keeps the dress very light in weight and gives it beautiful movement.
  • The bodice is comes down into a V at the front and the silk is gathered on an angle over to the side. A deep V is also set at the back for a bare expanse of skin to show. One side of the V at the back extends out and curves around the waist and is secured in at one side under the bow. The gathering and draping over the body feels very inspired by the bias cut gowns of the thirties and forties.
  • The bow is the key design point on the dress and it is so special feeling. It is made out of a rounded piped fabric that holds its shape. It is completely covered in tiny silver sequins, beads and rhinestones for the perfect little bit of glitz.
  • The skirt falls from under there and it is draped heavier on the side where the silk angles upwards. This creates more of a draped panel down the side that sits directly under the bow. The skirt has an extra panel of chiffon added at the front and the drape is set on the side under the bow so that it curves upwards. So when you move you get fantastic movement when you move.
  • The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hidden set side zipper.
  • Tagged a Valentino 40/4
  • Excellent condition

I Have a Question

Outstanding Fall 2010 Alexander McQueen Gray Scale Print Silk Dress w Caped Sleeves & Trained Skirt

I Have A Question: Outstanding Fall 2010 Alexander McQueen Gray Scale Print Silk Dress w Caped Sleeves & Trained Skirt

  • This is an outstanding production dress from the Fall 2010 collection.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
  • At first glance it feels very much in line with what he was doing for 2007 with his castle /fairy prints. For this collection he visited upon graphic black and grey-scale prints once again. We did find a photo from the 2010 look book that shows a shorter similar version of the dress. Just to give you an idea of how the top especially will fit once on the body.
  • The dress is made out of a beautifully weighted silk that he loved to use because it gave him the drape and fluidity that he wanted his pieces to have.
  • The shoulders of the dress are padded with thicker rounded pads hidden inside. Falling from there and extending around to the back is a beautiful caped panel that drapes over the top of your arms and then folds up and under itself to create the draping around and down the back. He used a double layer of the silk for this panel so that when you move you see the pattern underneath. It is these exacting small details that always make a McQueen piece stand out.
  • The front neck line is set in a draping cowl that sits over an inner V. The dress skims over the bust and waist and then widens out to curve over the hips.
  • Yards and yards of fabric have been used to construct the skirt. It is set into the body of the dress on a curving seam that is beautiful. He often use these curving and angled seams that are throwback to Couture pieces of the 1920s and 30s and here he has used it beautifully. The silk in the skirt is all cut on the bias. The back trails out longer behind you and all of this adds up to spectacular movement around you when you move.
  • This is a truly outstanding McQueen dress.
  • The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hidden set partial mid-set zipper at the back whose placement is again a nod to the Couture pieces of the 20s and 30s. The shoulders are padded. It appears to have been worn very little if at all

Spectacular Spring 2005 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 53 Strapless Deep Pink Silk Dress w Full Skirts

I Have A Question: Spectacular Spring 2005 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 53 Strapless Deep Pink Silk Dress w Full Skirts

  • The near twin of this dress walked the Spring 2005 ODLR runway for Look 53.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
  • I love having video and the reference photos however I do want to point out that the skirt on this dress is slightly different than the one that walked the runway. It falls longer and is swept up slightly to one side. I think after the runway, they reconfigured the skirt slightly and it is far better on this dress than what you see in the runway photos and video.
  • Vogue said that his collections "are a delight to the eye: flawlessly executed, poised, and urbane with just the right balance of mature charm and youthful exuberance" and this dress in particular was noted when they said "When it comes to evening wear no one knows more about giving women what they want... a cooly elegant strapless dress with an undulating puff skirt? In Oscar's world there's no such thing as the wrong choice."
  •  The dress is made out of the perfect deep fuchsia pink silk. It is strapless and the neckline curves around and over the bust dipping in the middle. The strapless silhouette leaves your upper back bare and exposed.
  • Starting at the waist area the silk is draped from the centre of the back and wraps around the waist and over the top of the hip on either side. It is then gathered over itself at the centre front. I think this detail is beautiful.
  • Inside there is a full built-in corset that is cupped, boned and shaped for support.
  • The skirt is spectacular. Here you see the genius of Oscar. The skirt has a ton of volume to it that shows best when you move. It is made out of a cascade of silk with a second layer under the top layer. At the front both layers are cut shorter and then sweep and curve around to the back.
  • The skirt becomes wider and more full as it nears the hem and at the back it falls longer then the front so that you get this pretty curve from the side view along with a fantastic sweep of skirts from the back. On the runway, this was very symmetrical and shorter but this has that second inner layer that falls lower on the leg and it has a bit more of an asymmetrical feel. It is so much better and more dramatic than how it was shown on the runway in my opinion.
  • All of the volume is created by the sheer amount of silk used and the addition of a pink silk organza lining which helps to hold air between the two layers and keep the volume.
  • When this is on and you are walking the effect and movement that this creates is absolutely gorgeous. This is Oscar at his very best.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk organza. The interior corset closes with its own zipper at the back and then a second hidden set zipper closes the dress over that. The inner corset is fully boned and cupped. An attached inner waist stay hooks to close. I see a tiny bit of stress to the seam just under the zipper that is very minor but mentioned for accuracy, and perhaps some grubbiness around the hem, again very minor but mentioned for accuracy.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.
  • Excellent condition

Chic Spring 2008 Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati Runway Look 35 Deep Fuchsia Pink Silk One Shoulder Dress

I Have A Question: Chic Spring 2008 Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati Runway Look 35 Deep Fuchsia Pink Silk One Shoulder Dress

  • The twin of this dress was Look 35 on the Spring 2008 Yves Saint Laurent runway for Look 35.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Stefano Pilati
  • On the runway the dress was worn by Freja and it was also shot on Kate Moss that season.
  • Stefani said that he had been thinking of "goddesses and stars" for the evening pieces.
  • This was the strongest dress of the collection and I love having all of these reference photos for you because you can see just how beautiful this dress is on the body.
  • The dress is made out of a beautifully weighted silk that is cut on the bias. The colour is a deep fuchsia pink. That is a rich and lovely jewel tone.
  • The end entire dress falls from one shoulder. The sleeve on that side is kept simple, starting out wide from the body and then narrows at the cuff.
  • The front of the dress angles down on a curve and it does the same at the back. It is more fitted through the bust and curves past the waist.
  • The bias cut lets it skim over and fall over the hips to highlight your curves.
  • The skirt falls from there and is made from seamed panels that give a nod to the thirties in their execution.
  • The skirt is very full and that, combined with the bias cut, give this incredible movement as you move. It  is an extremely sensual and sexy feeling dress once on.
  • I think this was one of the strongest dresses of his entire time at this label.
  • The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk and it closes with a hidden set zipper at the side. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.
  • There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

Easy-to-Wear Spring 2020 Emporio Armani Runway Look 59 Grey Silk Organza Silver Sequin Dress

I Have A Question: Easy-to-Wear Spring 2020 Emporio Armani Runway Look 59 Grey Silk Organza Silver Sequin Dress

  • The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2020 Emporio Armani collection for the Look 59.
  • It was made under the creative direction of Giorgio Armani.
  • The collection was entitled "Air" and the pieces were soft. The show opened under a projection of a lightly clouded sky, and when the evening pieces walked the runway, it changed to a star filled moonscape. Appropriate given the silvers and greys of the final grouping of dresses. The sequins and paillettes on the dress catch the light beautifully and you can see that in the reference video.
  • This was shown as a strapless piece on the runway. The straps that it was sent to the shops with are set inside the upper edge of the bodice so that they could easily be tucked in if you preferred it that way.
  • The dress is made out of a textured silk organza that is beautifully light in weight but still has enough structure to hold the shape that you see.
  • Onto the silk are little oval paillettes done in different shades of silver and pewter. Each is suspended from the dress by a little hole at their tops and as they progress down the dress they have a little beaded bit so that they hang off of the dress more. At the top of the dress they are so heavily overlapped that they almost stand up and off of the dress and then as they reach the hem they scatter out.
  • A grey piping finishes the neckline and that is also what the straps are made out of. From there it skims over the bust and widens out around the waist for a easy to fit feel. It continues to widen out over the hips all the way to the hem.
  • These were produced on a very limited basis and that is noted on the tag. It was priced at just over 6K at retail.
  • The dress is fully lined in matching grey silky feeling fabric and it closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little at all.
