Incredible Numbered 1930s Huge Coral Flower Print Bias Cut Silk Chiffon Ivory Dress

I am so excited to bring you the second part of our 1930s capsule. This is one of a dozen dresses from a single owner collection of beautiful 1930s dresses. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. Outstanding designs from this era are increasingly hard to find. Her collection represents some of the best of the era that I have seen in a very long time. Most are in excellent condition and the few included in the capsule that do have some flaws are such outstanding designs that I feel there is still room for someone to love them and wear them as they are, or perhaps to put in the additional work to repair them. This is just a tiny sampling of her overall collection and I hope to have more of these capsules for you in the future.

This is one of the star pieces of this group and it is an incredible example of the fine work that was done in this time period. It is now so rare and hard to find these in such amazing condition. As beautiful as it looks here on my dress form, it is not doing it anywhere near the justice it deserves. It is really a dress that is meant to be on an actual body. The dress is cut in that beautiful and easy way that pieces from this time period were done in. It is meant to skim over the bust, waist and hips and then the skirt falls to the floor from there. With that flared out lower skirt you also get incredible movement when you move and you see just how much volume is there. The upper bodice dips into a squared off neckline with a pretty gathering of fabric on the seams on either side running vertically to the waist. The sleeves are high and capped with a pretty fullness to them created by clever gathering and ruching. Tiny hand made pads sit just inside each shoulder for the most delicate of shaping.  The waist is seamed but cut loose and easy. It has its original soft fabric belt that you can use to cinch the waist and add shape if you wish. It skims softly over the hips and at about the knee a panel is set on curved and angled seams that allow the lower skirt to flare out. The movement it has when you walk is incredibly soft and romantic feeling. The dress is made out of an ivory silk chiffon that is as light as a feather. It has a touch of transparency to it and this gives the pattern a beautiful and light feel that is stunning. Huge coral flowers mixed with paler pastel blooms are scattered over the entire dress. The fabric is cut on the bias and to wear it, you just slip it on and it drapes over you in the most beautiful way. Once on an actual body this dress truly comes to life and it is magnificent. Hand finished edges and hand work throughout. It has attached number tags on both the belts and on the interior of the dress but no other labels. If you are a fan of these pieces from the thirties you know just how exceptional and rare it is. Excellent condition.

Unlined and slips over the head with its original belt to add shape through the waist. Hand finishes throughout. Small, light handmade padding in each shoulder. For a garment 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes

SIZE GUIDE

Please review all measurements carefully. More often than not, vintage garments do not fit any size category exactly. If in doubt, measure a garment of your own that fits and is a similar cut and compare it's measurements to the listed measurements below.
