Incredible 1990s Geoffrey Beene Couture Dusty Green Jersey Plunge Dress w Sequins
The Shrimpton Couture Archives
- This is a spectacular late 1980s - early 1900s Geoffrey Beene.
- It was made under the creative direction of Geoffrey Beene.
- The cut of the dress is so perfectly simple and yet so dramatic at the same time.
- The green portion of the dress is made out of a very light and fine wool jersey that has an almost soft t-shirt feel to it. The colour is a beautiful, dusty, soft, pastel sage green. This is combined with glossy black sequins.
- The dress has two curving triangles at the front that are completely covered in the sequins. They are set in curving lines to follow the cut of the top. The sequins are laid out in rows and each row has the sequins overlapping it neighbour slightly for a dense coverage.
- The front is plunged with an opening left between the two sides of the halter at the front. It is quite daring but the way they are cut and the structure behind each panel keeps them in place once on the body.
- Straps extend up from the top of the halter and they cross over each other at the back. The back dips low to leave your entire back bare and exposed.
It is very sexy. - The waist comes in for shape and then it curves back out over the hips to fall to the floor.
- By the hem the skirt is extremely full. When you lay it out and open it, it is a full complete circle. This gives it incredible movement around you as you move. This clever bit of shaping helps to create the silhouette that the dress has around you and continues that curved feeling that the rest of the dress has.
- The entire lower portion of the hem is finished with an 8" wide band of lace netting that has been top stitched into place. The lace is covered with slightly larger sequins than the ones on the halter. This gives the hem added structure and helps to hold and shape the beautiful soft folds that it falls into when you are standing still.
- The bodice panels are backed and the rest if the dress is unlined. There are a few missing sequins and slight wear on the straps as photoed. The jersey has some stretch through the body and the comfortable range of the measurements are below.
- There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements below.
