Incredible 1920s Densely Beaded Flapper Dress w Attached Floral Beaded Silk Panels

This exquisite 1920s dress has some of the most phenomenal bead work I have seen on a dress. It has an almost 3D aspect to it in places and the workmanship is incredible. It is such a treat to see this level of hand work anymore. The base of the dress is a weighted silk in a matte black and it is still strong and sturdy. These are increasingly rare finds as these pieces get older year by year. Onto this base is a beaded design. The beads are entirely hand applied and you can see all of the lovely handwork on the interior. It is really an amazing piece of art. The design is done in two components. There are the black glass beads that cover the entire dress. These are set in rows that run down the length of the dress and then switch to horizontal rows for the bottom portion of the dress. On each side of the dress towards the lower hem there is a large bouquet of flowers all done by hand. The dress is cut in that tubular column feeling style as as was the fashion of the day and has a loose and easy silhouette with no sleeves and a wide scooped neckline. Running around the neckline is a long panel of silk that you can simple let hang or wrap around the neck as I have done. There is even a little opening where it is attached at the neck so that you can loop one panel through and it stays in place. Each panel is wide and hangs to meet the flowers worked into the sides of the dress. At the end of each of those panels is another hand done floral bouquet. It is incredibly beautiful and the bead work is dense so the design has a 3D aspect to it. It is really a extraordinary piece and when you see it in person I think you will be blown away by the beadwork. It is still strong and wearable with the care and love. This is one of the best 1920s pieces I have ever seen in a while. Museum quality. Excellent antique condition

The dress is unlined and slips on to wear. The silk base of the dress appears to be strong and sturdy. The vast majority of the beads are present. I see a bit of missing beads on one row. Please see the last photo. For a piece of this age with this level of beading I would still rate it as excellent. There may be some tiny missing areas of beads here and there but otherwise I see no other flaws. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. It is wearable with the care it would deserve to be worn with. The dress is remarkably sound and beautiful. It is almost 100 years old and is considered to be in museum quality condition. The loose and easy cut should work on a range of sizes and frames

Bust: to 20" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 19" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 19" flat across from side seam to side seam
Length: 48" from top of shoulder to hem

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care. Please purchase accordingly.

SIZE GUIDE

Please review all measurements carefully. More often than not, vintage garments do not fit any size category exactly. If in doubt, measure a garment of your own that fits and is a similar cut and compare it's measurements to the listed measurements below.
