This dress is wonderful and the cut of it is the perfection that you expect to find from this time period. It is made from a black crepe fabric that has a touch of a moss crepe feeling texture running through it. The design of the dress itself is stunning. The bodice is cut to skim over the body and the neckline sits high up around the neck with no collar. At the back of the neck there are four fabric covered buttons and loops. Each sleeve is capped and there is a touch of volume built into the tops of each shoulder by the gathering of the fabric and slight padding along the outer edge of the seam there. The waist nips in with tiny vertical  gathers into little half seams that come out from the sides. Ties are attached at each side so you can bring the shape in at the waist as much as you like. The skirt is made up of vertical panels that are cut so that it flares out as it reaches the hem in that perfect swing skirt cut of this era. The final perfect detail are those two red felt bows. One sits just below the shoulder on the bodice and the other around the hip area. Each is top stitched onto the dress and there is a little bouquet of felt flowers in their middles. The flowers are set up and off the crepe. The flowers on each of them is made from layers of red, purple and yellow felt with a little greenery behind them. It is just darling. One of the best forties dresses I have had in. Excellent condition

Unlined and slips over the head to wear. It buttons at the back of the neck and you adjust the waist with the attached ties on either side. Perhaps the tiniest bit of flatness of the fabric here and there from being pressed over the years, but really in remarkable condition for its age and I am being very picky.

Waist: to 17" flat across from side seam to side seam and the attached ties are used to cinch it in
Hips: to 20" flat across from side seam to side seam
Total length: 42" from neck to hem

  • payment two of the remaining balance will be billed two weeks from the date of the initial deposit.
  • The final payment is due two weeks after the second payment and shipping will be billed on this invoice as well.
  • items less then $500, or that are on sale, require a 50% deposit with the final payment due in two weeks from the date of deposit
