• It was made under the creative direction of Sarah Burton.
• You can see the same lace detailing used in the runway dress shown for Look 41 for the Fall 2017 show.
• It is interesting to see lace used throughout this collection because it coincided with the same time that she was working on the wedding dress for Kate Middleton. Vogue praised Burton for this show saying that "for the first time she fully articulated her own point of view.".
• We have had the full length version of the dress in the shop in the past and it is lovely to have this length as well.
• This is an exquisite dress whose base is made of black lace netting. Parts of the netting are a single unlined layer and then other parts are lined with a black silk to make it wearable.
• The combination of the two fabrics gives it enough weight to hold the shape of the dress but it still feels magically light once on.
• The design that covers the dress combines a netted lace base with black cording that highlights the design worked into the lace. This gives the design a slightly raised 3D effect off of the netting.
• The designs forms these gorgeous patterns and it is the kind of piece that the more you look at it the more you see. I took several detail shots so you can get an idea of the workmanship.
• The sleeves are capped and they are left unlined so that the pattern really shows against your skin. The shoulders are soft and the neck is scooped.
• It skims over the bust, past the waist and over the hips. There is no seam at the waist. Instead it is cut so that two softly curving triangles extend from the back and are wrapped into the waist.
• Once you turn around you see that they are extended from a full see-through back that is scooped low. 
• It is almost shocking once you turn around and see that slightly transparent but still covered back.
• The lace set on this back area is different from the rest of the dress so you also get this fantastic contrast there.
• The skirt curve over the hips and then flares out quite a bit all the way around you and is cut to fall in soft folds when you stand still. The extra fabric around the hem gives you this beautiful movement when you move.
• Truly an extraordinary piece from the Sarah Burton era.

• The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2009 Alexander McQueen runway for Look 24.
• It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
• The program notes told the audience of the Spring 2009 runway show that Mcqueen had been thinking of Charles Darwin's theory of the survival of the fittest and 'the deleterious results of industrialization on the natural world'.
• The show was title 'Natural Dis-tinctions, Un-Natural Selection' and the McQueen book notes that 'the cat walk was filled with antique taxidermy, including an elephant giraffe tagger zebra and polar bear, in an art space that was formally of Paris morgue.'
• The twin of the dress was a part of the second portion of the show that was meant to 'continue to draw inspiration from natural forms, flowers, crystals and minerals, but here they were engineer with a hard as an enhanced to convey the synthetic qualities associated with modernity and human touch. Prints were angular and invoked crushed crystal, metallic structures such as the Eiffel tower and a granite mountain that was borrowed from a Dan Holdsworth triptych.'
• This collection was noted as being one of his most commercial to date during this time period and these print pieces especially had instant appeal. This is a very recognizable piece that can instantly  identify as being a McQueen.
• The dress is made out of an unusual fabric that is almost like a neoprene in the way it looks and feels and yet it is not a true neoprene. It is lighter and thinner with just enough weight to it to hold the shape but without it feeling restrictive on the body.
• The shape is built into the dress beginning at the shoulders. Each is lightly padded so that they sit up on top of the shoulders.
• It skims over the bust, nips in at the waist and then curves out at the hips. Even when laying flat you can see the shape built into the dress.
• At the neckline there is a keyhole that has a nude netting in behind it.
• The seams at the hip curve in and over the waist to just under the bust. This precise seaming and cut are all done to give that exact shape that he wished the piece to have.
• When styled on the runway with the plastered hair around the face it had an almost alien feel to it that was fantastic.
• It is an extraordinary piece of Alexander McQueen history.
• The dress is fully lined in a ivory tissue silk and it closes at the back with a hidden set zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This gown dates to the 2010-2011 season.
• It was made (or completed) under the creative direction of Sarah Burton.
• The dress certainly would have been released when Sarah had taken over the reins of McQueen. The date of the hang tag does have it falling right in that window where Alexander could have had a hand in its design and then by its release it would have been under Sarah's era. It is a phenomenal example of how beautiful that the McQueen aesthetic can be. 
• The dress combines an ivory silk for the exterior and then the skirt of the inner dress underneath has been densely embroidered. It is a beautiful combination.
• The bodice is strapless and there is internal structure to hold it in place around the body including a cupped inner bust and boned hidden inner corset. The silk on the exterior has been placed over the bodice in flat pleats that are set on a slight angle and then open up into the skirt.
• The inner skirt is made from an added panel that has been embroidered in a soft pastel palette with just a hint of a metallic feel to it. It depicts flowers in soft golden taupe with pale blue and greens.
• The outer skirt curves up and around that inner panel and there is padding set into each hip to hold the shape.
• The skirt is draped over the padding of the hip and curves down to the floor to become an extended train at the back.
• At the centre of the back there is a wide folded panel of silk that is set vertically. It snaps into place over the back zipper and then extends outwards to become part of the skirt. All of the seaming is hidden underneath so the illusion of the panel simply flowing down into the skirt is perfectly maintained.
• The workmanship is exquisite and shows the extreme high tailoring that the McQueen label is known for. This is a very rare piece and would have been made in limited quantities.
• The dress is fully lined in a matching ivory silk with a full built-in corset that extends to the top of the hips. There are wired cups in the bodice and it has hidden boning throughout. There is hidden padding through the hip as described above. The panel at the back snaps into place with silk covered snaps and then the dress closes with a hidden set zipper under that. The inner corset closes with its own zipper. I see some minor grubbiness at the hem but the dress is new with tags and was never worn.

• It was made under the creative direction of Sarah Burton.
• we found a photo of the dress on so you can see how it works on an actual body.
• The dress is made from layers of an off-white ivory silk chiffon that floats beautifully over the body. 
• Tiny adjustable straps curve up and over your shoulder to connect at the sides of the bodice and back. You would have the option to tuck the straps in and wear this as a strapless dress if you wished.
• The bodice is cupped and inside there are wired inner cups to hold the shape and give you structure and support.
• Onto the bodice is a beautiful and elaborate design made out of a braided silver thread, silver tube beads, and prong set rhinestones and beads in various sizes. These are set over the bodice to form a design of leafs and vines that swirl deep into each side. 
• The silk chiffon falls from under there and flows all the way down to the floor. The movement the silk chiffon has is incredible. The fabric is very light in weight so that when you move it swirls around you.
• There are extra panels of the silk chiffon attached along the upper edge of the back. these fold inwards from the sides and i love how to silk is swept slight towards them. These fall to the floor to give a beautiful caped feel to the back. 
• It is a very striking and romantic feeling dress. 
• The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk and closes with a back hidden set zipper. There is a built-in inner corset that is boned and cupped. I see a tiny repair near the hem of the skirt and there is a little bit of very minor pulling here and there.

• This is an outstanding production dress from the Fall 2010 collection. 
• It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
• At first glance it feels very much in line with what he was doing for 2007 with his castle /fairy prints. For this collection he visited upon graphic black and grey-scale prints once again. We did find a photo from the 2010 look book that shows a shorter similar version of the dress. Just to give you an idea of how the top especially will fit once on the body.
• The dress is made out of a beautifully weighted silk that he loved to use because it gave him the drape and fluidity that he wanted his pieces to have.
• The shoulders of the dress are padded with thicker rounded pads hidden inside. Falling from there and extending around to the back is a beautiful caped panel that drapes over the top of your arms and then folds up and under itself to create the draping around and down the back. He used a double layer of the silk for this panel so that when you move you see the pattern underneath. It is these exacting small details that always make a McQueen piece stand out.
• The front neck line is set in a draping cowl that sits over an inner V. The dress skims over the bust and waist and then widens out to curve over the hips.
• Yards and yards of fabric have been used to construct the skirt. It is set into the body of the dress on a curving seam that is beautiful. He often use these curving and angled seams that are throwback to Couture pieces of the 1920s and 30s and here he has used it beautifully. The silk in the skirt is all cut on the bias. The back trails out longer behind you and all of this adds up to spectacular movement around you when you move.
• This is a truly outstanding McQueen dress.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hidden set partial mid-set zipper at the back whose placement is again a nod to the Couture pieces of the 20s and 30s. The shoulders are padded. It appears to have been worn very little if at all
