Chic & Minimalist Resort 1974 Halston Vogue Documented Red & White Striped Cotton Plunge Dress Dress

• The dress is from the Resort 1974 collection. We have included a runway photo of a dress done in the same fabric.
• It was made under the creative direction of Roy Halston.
• The twin of the dress was famously photoed for Vogue in May 1974 and shot by none other than Helmet Newton. This adds a beautiful extra bit of fashion history to the piece.
• In the Vogue article that ran with the photo the caption read "the ultimate plunge, Halston's long, thin, perfect summer evening in red and white cotton-knit stripes (if you have to ask what to wear in the way of a bra, this must may not be the dress for you. This isn't the moment for anything else on the body, but perfume)."
• The dress slips over the head and the neckline wraps around the back of the neck. Triangles at the front plunge to the waist in a deep V. The triangles wrap around the sides to the back. The back angles in for a slight racer back feel to it.
• The waist is cut very generously and that is intentional because it helps to give the volume through the skirt. The dress comes with a matching tie belt that you can use to cinch in the waist too as small as you need it to be.
• It curves out and over hips from there and flares out as it near the hem. This should sit at about mid-calf depending on your height. The skirt has a nice fullness without being overly full.
• I love the way the stripes are set to contrast with each other. Aligning them in different directions over the surface of the dress has them become a part of the design and compliment the cut of the dress. They also highlight the fact that it s made with his signature simplicity an absolute minimal use of seams.
• The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear. There is a series of hooks and snaps set partially down the front. It comes with its original tie belt. I see a tiny bit of stress in a tiny hole at the back of the neck. If you're not in a rush to get this, I can have this fixed before sending. It is very minor and could be worn as is. Please see the photo after the label shot.

Waist: 16" flat across from side seam to side seam and you use the tie belt to cinch it in
Hips: to 23" flat across from side seam to side seam

Total length: 53" from neck to hem
