The Fall 2012 Moschino Cheap & Chic was shown in London... The then creative director Rossella Jardini explained to Vogue that she wanted international glamour and an international point of view. The collection was named Make Up Your Life, a double entendre for actual makeup and a sort of exhortation to choose your own adventure through clothing. "It means mash up your clothes to find your style," said designer Francesca Rubino. "And find the life you like. Times are hard, so we have to use clothes to have some fun." On the runway this print was shown on a shorter dress (and also a skirt) and then for production they did this spectacular full length version. The Cheap and Chic label was eliminated  and renamed the boutique label just a couple years later making this dress one of the last of an era. But what a dress!

This Moschino dress is wonderful. The dress looks it have been based on the spectacular bias cut silks of the 1930s. It has seemingly little structure at first glance, but once it is on you realize just how masterful that so called simple draping is. The dress is suspended from the shoulders and the bodice drapes down over the bust in a deep plunge. There is a wide double ruffle that acts like a little tiny bit of a cap at the top of the shoulders and then runs down to follow the line of the plunge front. The two layers of ruffles and the width give it lots of movement. that I love. The waist is set fairly open and easy so that it is incredibly comfortable and accommodating once on the body. You could also belt it ad add shape or even just add a tie belt that follows the looser curve of the waist seam. Lots of options. The ruffles continue down past the waist seam and the are set to angle off to the side just a touch. The ruffle here tops a slit on the skirt and this brings that slit just off side a bit so that you get a flash of leg when you walk. The skirt is cut super model long and I love how it expands out as it nears the hem. It has lots of fabric in there that kick and sweep around you when you move all while being light as a feather. The final detail to mention is of course that fabulous eye print with their big mascaraed lashes. So fun and quirky yet so devastatingly chic. It looks like it was never been worn or worn very little. Excellent condition

Unlined and slips on with snaps down one side. Elastic through the waist. The measurement range below is the comfortable range of the fabric lying flat. The bias cut should allow it to work on a range of sizes. Tagged a modern IT40 FR36 UK8 US6.

Bust: 16-18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 13-16" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: to 23" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 16" from top of bodice to waist
Skirt: 50" from waist to hem
