1960s Helen Rose Pink Silk Chiffon Dress w Elabroately Beaded & Sequins Bodice

The Shrimpton Couture Archives

  • Helen Rose signed with MGM in 1944 and designed costumes for various films up until 1966. She won two Academy Awards for Best Costume Design and was nominated on 8 other occasions. She was the designer behind both Grace Kelly & Elizabeth Taylor's wedding dresses and dresses both in real life and on film as well. In 1958 she launched her own label.
  • An absolutely beautiful dress from this time period that is made from a pink silk chiffon and then heavily detailed through the bodice.
  • The front is almost like a jewel piece and is heavily sequinned and detailed with beads and prong set rhinestones. These follow the scooped neck line and then form flowers across the front. The bottom curve of the bodice follows the same scoop as the neck.
  • The front extends into wide straps that run down the back, leaving part of the upper back bare and exposed. The detailing continues over those straps and also runs all the way around the top edge at the back.
  • From there the silk chiffon falls outwards to the hem and the dress is incredibly full by the time it reaches the floor. When you move the bottom portion of the dress will swirl around you.
  • It is fully lined in a pink silk and has two layers of the silk chiffon of the skirt laying over that inner layer.
  • The work is all done by hand. It is a slightly different shade of pink than how it photoed
  • The dress closes with a back zipper. There is no size tag in the dress so please refer to the measurements below.

SIZE GUIDE

Please review all measurements carefully. More often than not, vintage garments do not fit any size category exactly. If in doubt, measure a garment of your own that fits and is a similar cut and compare it's measurements to the listed measurements below.
