1920s Silk Velvet Sequin Hem Dress

An amazing flapper dress that combines black velvet with an unexpected array of pastels! The top portion of this flapper dress is a simple tube style as was the fashion of the day. It has gathers at each shoulder and just slips on. The waist is undefined and it has an attached skirt that is surprisingly full - I photoed it spread out flat so you can get an idea. A nine inch band of florets are attached and circle the entire skirt. Each is a pastel color and repeats in a combination of baby blue, soft pink and a pastel tangerine. Each flower is sequined in that same color with clear glass beads forming the center of the flower. These are light in weight and are absolutely amazing to see when the dress is on and you move! Give it a twirl and they fly around you fantastically! A jaunty multi bowed detail sits at one hip and each loop is backed int he same shades of silk chiffon that circles the hemline. Excellent condition and a very unusual and pretty piece.

The dress is unlined and slips over the head to wear. There is a minor change in texture to the velvet under one arm in certain light and a couple of small spots on the silk flowers at the hem that can only be seen if it is laid out completely flat.

Note that antique and twenties pieces are final sale. They will be packed exceedingly well and we only sell pieces that will stand up to the stress of shipping, however, having pieces potentially shipped multiple times through multiple customs and countries is too hard on garments that are historically important and deserve to be treated with love and care.
