1920s Colorful Beaded Silk Flapper Dress

Really wonderful beaded flapper has a stunning and unusual combination of colors. The base is a heavy sueded silk that is remarkably sound. The color is a deep deep navy - so deep it is almost black. Onto this is a stunning beaded design. It is made of thousands of tiny glass beads and these are unusual in that they are painted in a variety of colors that have a faint metallic sheen to them. Pinks and bright blues mix with deep olives and coppers. The design covers both the front and back skirt with the front having an additional center medallion just under the bust. This bead work is all hand down and you can see the extensive and complicated stitching on the back side of the fabric. The entire neckline is ringed in a trompe d'oleil collar with additional bead work jutting off from that collar. Its just wonderful! Excellent condition with a few small pinholes that the ribbon that has been added at some point by a clever girl covers wonderfully. Structurally sound and intact. Gorgeous piece!
