The three dresses I have for you today are more from that same single owner collection that I recently did two capsules from. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. The first two drops centered around the 1930s but we have expanded into her collection to add some other decades this time as well. Outstanding designs from these eras are increasingly hard to find. This one is especially interesting because it actually has a label that says 'Dress Design Copyrighted 1934' giving us the exact date which is very unusual for this time period.

This is a stunning dress made of a beautiful bias cut silk with the most amazing floral pattern covering it surface. The colours are a mix of ivory, pale pale blues and purples in several tones and hues done in a flower pattern that completely covers the silk. The fabric alone is something you will never see in today's modern fabric production and it is a jewel of a find. The dress simply slips over the head with one section of snaps that follow one of the angled seams at the waist and then runs up the side. Once it simply drapes into place over the body. The silk molds to your curves as it skims over you from bust to hips. As it nears the hem it flares out beautifully. It has that classic curved and angled seaming seen during this time period. The front neckline drapes slightly at the neckline and then the back dips into a V and little bows are tied and stitched into on the straps to widen out the bare expanse this creates. I think if you were brave and perhaps with some double sided tape you could wear this the other way around as well. This one also comes with a light and easy jacket with long sleeves that have a puffed rounded shape to the upper sleeve and then narrow to the wrist. This is sort so it drapes down a bit but once on an actual arm it will be more apparent than how it is on my dress form. There are long ties that extend out from the neck to tie it in place and then is crosses over itself to close with two silk covered buttons. The collar is low and is backed up with a solid pale purple silk that adds an extra splash of colour. The feel of the dress changes dramatically whether you wear it on its own or with the jacket. This one also, matching silk fabric belt that has what looks to be mother of pearl buckles on either side. You can wear this over or under the jacket for even more styling options. Excellent overall condition with a small note below.

Unlined and slips on to wear and cut on the bias. There is a section that closes with snaps along the seam on one side. Many of the inner seams are finished by hand. There is very minor darkening to the fabric at the base of the V that would not really photo and I am being pretty picky. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition. The bias should allow it to fit a range of sizes.
