Ethereal 1930s Ivory Silk Tulle Net Dress w Pale Lavender & Cream Floral Embroidery

This is one of a dozen dresses from a single owner collection of beautiful 1930s dresses and I am very pleased to have this small capsule for you. Her collection was lovingly sourced over decades and she has decided that it is time let them back out into the world for others to enjoy. Outstanding designs from this era are increasingly hard to find. Her collection represents some of the best of the era that I have seen in a very long time. Most are in excellent condition and the few included in the capsule that do have some flaws are such outstanding designs that I feel there is still room for someone to love them and wear them as they are, or perhaps to put in the additional work to repair them. This is just a tiny sampling of her overall collection and I hope to have another series of these capsules in the future. Enjoy this first drop.

This is a stunning silk tulle net dress in a beautiful ivory with pale ivory and purple embroidery. The dress comes with its original under dress. The under dress is made from a silk satin in an ivory and the lower edge of it is finished with a cotton tulle and lace detailing. This helps add to the look of the dress when the outer dress is layered over it and also helps to keep the volume at the hem of the dress. This inner slip is opaque enough so the dress becomes wearable. It is suspended from two straps that curve over the shoulders and zip to close at the back. Over this goes the silk tulle outer layer. The outer dress has a very simple shape. The sleeves are short and extend out from the shoulders with no seam to break the eye. It is meant to skim over you through the body to the waist. It is finished with a light banding of cotton for a bit of structure and the skirt falls under that. Down the center of the dress the tulle is left plain while on either side of the bust it has been elaborately embroidered in a cream and pale purple thread. The same pattern is picked up again on the skirt. I love how the edges are scalloped to follow the pattern. It's such a pretty and romantic piece. Excellent condition with a small note below.

The slip acts as the lining. It closes with a zipper at the back. The outer dress closes with hook and eye and snaps at the back. The inner dress has some scuffing on the silk satin but it does not affect it when on. The outer dress has a small mark on the skirt. There's a bit of grubbiness near where it closes at the back. The hooks at the waist have been moved out two inches and could be moved back if you needed the outer dress to be smaller. For a garment almost 100 years old it is in amazing condition.

  • payment two of the remaining balance will be billed two weeks from the date of the initial deposit.
  • The final payment is due two weeks after the second payment and shipping will be billed on this invoice as well.
  • items less then $500, or that are on sale, require a 50% deposit with the final payment due in two weeks from the date of deposit
