Valentino knows how to cut a dress to perfectly flatter a woman's body. Few designers can come close to the masterful techniques he perfected over the decades of his prolific career. This is an exceptional example of his work and it is very beautiful and striking. It would also be a fabulous choice perhaps as a wedding dress for the bride not looking to be 100% traditional

The dress has that feeling of simplicity that the nineties epitomized and yet, still feels modern and fresh even now. The fine silk crepe that is is made out of is cut on the bias which allows it to drape and mold perfectly over the body, skimming over your curves for the most flattering of fits. The color in person is a touch more a true ivory then how it photoed and is very flattering on most skin tones. The bodice of the dress with one of his signature, high set and curved panels that wrap around the bust. This is suspended from one shoulder by tiny straps that wrap and tie at the back. The bodice has been beaded with gold tube beads into a pretty trailing leaf and flower design with silver sequins filling in the petals. Some of the petals are cut out for the teeniest glimpse of skin through them. From that spectacularly detailed bodice, the skirt drapes to the floor from under the bust in a column of bias cut silk. The skirt has two layers hat are both edged with the same beading that is on the bodice and this overlap balances the workmanship on the bodice. The back is trained and also edged with more beads and sequins. The back is cut very low so that you get an expanse of bare skin. It is just stunning on the body. Excellent condition

This was sold to me as a Christian Dior but I have never been able to fully verify this with 100% accuracy. It's been priced for what it is and if it does turn out to be a verifiable Dior then you have gotten an amazing bargain. Regardless of its heritage it is an incredibly striking dress.

This dress is all bombshell. It has the feel of the Old Hollywood siren to it and one could easily imagine any of the big movie starlets of the day wearing this out as part of their glamorous lives. The fabric is a deep burnished gold lame that has a stitched effect running over it that gives it a quilted 3D feel but in a very abstract kind of way as opposed to any geometric pattern you would normally see with a quilting technique applied. It is very light in weight and feels like a wisp of air once on the body. It is cut for maximum attention. The top is set with two halter triangle tops that have that wide cut to them from this era. This lets the tops of each halter sit on the outer edges of the shoulders, emphasizing the cinched in waist. On an actual body you can cinch it in even tighter to create more of an hourglass shape. It plunges down to meet the wide sash that wraps and ties around you. The back plunges in the same fashion to leave a large expanse of your back bare. The partially attached ties that wrap around the waist are very long so you can really play with how you style them. Under that the skirt falls in a narrow pencil shape with a small vent at the back to allow for walking. It's gorgeous. Excellent condition

In its heyday the Gene Shelly of California label was a must have. Gene Shelly dresses are amazing and they are some of the best of the early sequinned vintage pieces that you can find. All of the sequin work that covers this dress was done by hand in Hong Kong on American manufactured knit. The company would send the stretch wool fabric to be hand beaded or sequinned to Hong Kong. The fabric was then sent back to the US and the dresses were made in California. At the time, Hong Kong was doing the best sequin and bead work in the world outside of the specialty ateliers in Paris. Having the bead work down there actually helped keep the cost down though the dresses were still fairly expensive. Full length pieces cost around $600 dollars in the mid-1960s - which is the equivalent of about $4700 in current USD.

The dress has the label's signature stretch knit base which makes it extremely easy and comfortable to wear. This one has a gold knit to match the sequins that cover its surface. Onto the knit are thousands and thousands of tightly spaced, bright gold sequins. Each sequin has been meticulously applied by hand into place. Every inch of the fabric is literally covered with sequins. The neckline is cut wider across so that your collarbones show and the back has a low V dip to it. Edging the neckline is a dense application of larger gold paillettes that are set to stand up from the fabric to create a 3D feel. This same edging circles the end of each sleeve. The dress hugs the body from the neckline to the hem and I love how the hem has that little curved notch at the front More of those fabulous 3D paillettes circle the entire hem. The dimension and texture created from the result of all of the hand work done on the dress is wonderful. The dress itself is immensely flattering with its figure hugging shape. The knit is set on the bias so it shapes and molds to your figure once on. Excellent condition.

The base is a gold toned stretch knit and the dress closes with a painted metal zipper at the back. The sequins are all applied by hand and I see no bare spots. A little wear to the lustre of the sequins here and there that is normal for sequins of this age. The measurements are taken flat and shows the comfortable range of each spot. Note that it is a touch brighter gold in person and it is even more of a wow when you see it in real life. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. The stretch will allow for a variety of sizes

I had a very similar dress in the shop before that was a lilac color and am very pleased to have found an even more versatile black version. Halston is one of those rare labels that for whom the more time goes by it actually feels more relevant. It is easy to look at this piece as both a treasured vintage collectible and a closet staple.

It is the kind of dress that you know that every time you slip it on you will look and feel amazing. It has a definitive Grecian goddess feel to it combined with his signature simplicity and masterful draping. It simply slips over the head with elastic running through the waist at the front. At the back the inner part is completely bare but there are ties that extend on either side of the waist that tie inside the back. This helps to create some shape at the front with the fabric draping all around you, but the ties keep it completely in place. The front drapes and plunges deeply but the way the fabric has been placed combined with that elastic waist and the inner ties make you feel safe wearing it. Over the shoulders and down the back is a single panel of fabric that creates a caped Grecian effect and incredible loops of draping down each hip. They are deep enough to tease that you might get a glimpse of bare skin at the sides but the cut and the inner ties make sure it doesn't bare too much. So sexy! The front high slit and way the skirting is cut also allows a flash of leg to show as one moves. Brilliantly Halston in every way and very easy to wear. Excellent condition

I love when I get versions of this dress in the shop and I am happy to have also found documentation of it with not just one, but two ads. The ads verify the date of this to be from the 1980-1981 time period. Versions of this dress have been worn by countless celebrities. Lady Gaga wore a version, as have girls like Rachel Zoe & Nicole Richie and every girl that has bought one through me has loved it. It is one of those fail safe pieces that you know is going to work every time you put it on. When I do get one in they tend to fly out the door. The dress is insanely sexy with a halter style front that plunges to the waist and a back that is left completely open and bare. It is made of a black liquid jersey that feels amazing on and has the added bonus of traveling very well. It is the kind of piece that you can throw into your suit case and slip on with either flats or heels when you reach some far off destination and be instantly ready to go. The front has a high slit that shows when you walk or sit and I love the signature wide top stitch gold belt at the waist. The belt is attached all the way around the back and then ties at the front to cinch you in exactly to where you want. Excellent condition.

Nat Kaplan was a dress manufacturer that opened in 1935 and produced well-made mid-range garments for about 50 years. They tended to use great fabrics and the pieces were finely tailored. Fit was paramount and they did not skimp on details to give their clients amazing value for their money.

This dress is darling and for the girl tiny enough to fit into it, it is a beauty. The bodice is very  fitted with light boning inside for support. It has tiny straps in that same lovely fabric and then the entire bodice is finished with a series of vertical knife pleats. These go all the way around the bodice and are set on a slight angle instead of a straight up and down line. The waist is cinched and then the skirt opens out from there and is quite full. The fabric is a lovely semi-sheer light silk-cotton voile with a gorgeous bright floral print that covers every square inch. The skirt has a second layer of organza under that top layer and then a lining under that to keep it from being see-through. It is just lovely. Excellent condition. 

Full interline though the bodice in an ivory silky rayon and the skirt has a silk crepe inner lining and then a layer of ivory silk organza under the top printed layer. It closes with a painted metal zipper at the back and the the skirt overlaps and snaps to close along the waist over the lower portion of the zipper.

This dress is from John Galliano's own label and I believe it is from within those last few years that he held the position of Creative Director there. Galliano has always been know for his amazing bias cut gowns and this gorgeous example is no exception. His work, especially the bias cut pieces like this, have a feeling of the decadence mixed with the high luxury of the twenties and thirties and they are beautifully cut. They marry the old Hollywood feel of those past eras with the minimalist spirit of the nineties and early aughts and the results are stunning.

This dress is gorgeous. It is made out of a bias cut ivory silk that has a pretty garden floral print that covers it. The print has a very delicate feel to it and gives it a little French flare. It is detailed with with tiers and ruffled flounces that are made from the same silk. It is completely cut on the bias and once on the body it skims over your curves and highlights your shape. It is extremely comfortable to wear because of this. The silk drapes over a nude colored interior that gives the ivory of the top layer a slight nude tone to it. The dress is suspended from teeny silk straps and the neckline at the front dips down. The body of the dress skims over the bust, waist and hips. Both curved and angled ruffles are set to wrap around the body. They detail the neckline and then curve across the body and follow the angled hem. At the hem the ruffles layer over each other to create a double row finish. The skirt is cut to expose one leg quite high up. The bottom skirt is very full and widens out with tiers of ruffles lace set all around it. This ruffled technique is one derived from the gowns of the twenties and thirties and this play a large part in the vintage feel the dress has. A little silk rose surrounded by a splash of faux fur details the the bodice just under one strap and the hip on the opposite side. It is stunning on. Excellent condition

Buro24 said of this collection "Black is the new black ...For Pre-Fall, Ricardo Tisci created a modern, graphic lineup with edgy undertones – all predominately black. Givenchy stuck to its core for its latest collection. The Italian designer also added some romance to the dark collection... as well as draped silhouettes, which came in the shape of lightweight evening gowns." This dress was shown in an ivory for the presentation, layered over a red tank. It was the closing look of the collection for that season.

This is the all black version that was put into production in addition to the ivory one and it is gorgeous with his distinctive edgy touches mixed with high femininity. It combines a liquid silk satin with a very fine Chantilly feeling lace. The lace is as light as a feather and is used extensively through the bodice. This is what gives it that beautiful and delicate transparency. It plunges into a V with straps that curve up and over the shoulders. Little silver rings break the line of the strap at the front. At the back they stay slim until they meet the low set back. The top also has an opaque inset at the front midriff and then the lace around that continues low around the hips and down each side of the skirt. The skirt is actually quite full so has a wonderful amount of movement when you move. More of that fine lace circles the hem. At the back there are two excessively long, wide ties in the same satin as the skirt. These are attached to either side of the back waist and tie at the back as you wish.  They can be tied up so they hang shorter or can even be done so that the ties trail down and behind you. It is a beautiful example of Ricardo's work while at Givenchy and will absolutely be a future collectable. Excellent condition

George Stavropoulos was known for his evening wear and his signature looks focused on cut and fabric to convey the beauty of each piece. He launched his label in 1960 and soon was dressing women like Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy, Barbra Streisand and Maria Callas. His dresses were made by hand and to couture standards. By the early 1980s a gown by him started at around $8500 and they went up in cost from there - that starting price point equals to around $26,000US in today's dollars. So when you buy a vintage Stavropoulos gown you are getting incredible value for your money. The only reason his work is not under the Haute Couture category is because he was not an official member of the association.

This dress has the most unusual and wonderful fabric treatment that has been applied onto its surface. Hundreds and hundreds of little embroidered white triangles of fabric have been applied to the dress to cover it from shoulder to hem. These are sewn onto a fine white silk netting and then that is layered over an inner, more ivory toned, silk crepe. This play on tone give it more depth and visual interest. The triangles are set onto the fabric so that parts of the points flutter off the fabric, giving them a 3D quality. The actual dress under that amazing applique work is quite structured. The bodice has slim sleeves that taper in from the shoulder as they reach the ends, and the neckline is cut wide and squared off at the front. The shoulders have very light padding and they are set so they have a bit of high capped feel to them. At the back it is slightly scooped. The dress follows the body with has vertical seaming that bring it on at the waist a touch and then it falls to the floor. A high back vent is the perfect finish and gives a glimpse of leg. Excellent condition

Fully lined in an ivory silk crepe and closes with a hand set, painted metal zipper at the back. Light padding in each shoulder. Very well finished. In person it has a touch more of an ivory tone to the base.

David & Elizabeth Emanuel are best known for designing the wedding gown that was worn by Princess Diana in 1981. They also designed the majority of the Princess' wardrobe for her Gulf Tour. During this time period they were doing custom pieces out of their salon prior to their separation and subsequent divorce in 1990. This dress would date to the time period between those two dates and is a rare example of this extraordinary couple who designed one of the most seen pieces of clothing that has ever existed.

The dress is like a magical fairy tale version of all that was amazing about this time period. The fabric is a fine silk organza and the color is a dusty ivory that has perhaps a slight nude pink undertone to it in certain lights. The bodice of the dress is corseted and stiffened all the way around with interior, hidden shaping and boning. The neckline of the dress dips into a low curving sweetheart with a pretty ruffled finish around the upper edge. This nips in at the waist and then the skirt sweeps to the floor in a cascade of feather light silk. The entire skirt has pastel embroidery worked into it and there are two rows of pink ribbon set into the silk that circle the lower hem. The ribbon is actually woven through embroidered edged slits and I have included a shot of the back of this technique for you to see. The work is quite remarkable. The edges of the hem of the skirt are finished in a series of soft scallops that are completely detailed with more embroidery. I photoed the dress with a full length crinoline under it so that you can see the tremendous shape and volume it has. Without the addition of an underskirt the skirt would be transparent. The skirt has enough volume that you can add an even fuller skirt to get a real bell shape if you wanted it to have an even more formal gown feel. That same pretty pastel embroidery that covers the skirt also details the bodice and covers each sleeve. The edges of the sleeves and the flounce that sits at their tops pick up that same scallop treatment you see along the hem of the skirt. The sleeves are absolutely incredible. Each one is cut to fall far off the shoulder and is trimmed with am embroidered flounce around the upper opening. They have tremendous volume through the sleeve with a huge and elaborate pouf to them. Each of them ends in an elaborate cuff with the same pointed finish as the hem. A pink ribbon is woven through the silk about halfway down the sleeve and then another is tied into a pretty bow to add detail to the wrist. A row of tiny seed pearls and a little pink silk rose that sits on both sides at the point where the sleeve meets the bodice are the perfect finish to this high fantasy gown. The workmanship is incredible and it is absolutely beautiful. This would make an extraordinary wedding gown for the bride looking for something unique. Since it is from their custom label it would have been a one off so you would be wearing the only one ever made. Excellent condition with a small note below

The bodice is lined with an ivory silk and the rest of the dress is unlined for a semi-transparent effect. It closes with a back metal and nylon zipper and the bodice is boned and stiffened. Elastic at each cuff and the top of the dropped sleeve. The bodice is embellished with applied seed pearls and silk rosettes and the entire gown has hand done embroidery detailing. Hand finished throughout. The underskirt shown is not included. Note the color is a little deeper in tone then how it photoed. There looks to be a couple minor repairs where the sleeve meets the edge of the bodice.

This Jean Varon is amazing. It looks like it was never worn and is incredible condition. The fabric it is made out of is a taupe crepe jersey. This fabric choice really allows the dress to drape and move wonderfully as it has some weight to it and holds the intended lines wonderfully. It was quite obviously inspired by ancient Greek and and that combined with its seventies bareness gives it load of sex appeal. The skirt is cut on the bias so that it feels like a column when you stand still but when you move, it moves with you and you get a sense of the true amount of fabric that was used to construct the skirt. The top is fantastic with a halter cut at the front. Two triangles of fabric plunge to the just below the bust and curve over the shoulders. The first waist seam is set high and just under the bust. Fabric is gathered under this vertically and then a second seam hugs the natural waist to give the dress a Grecian feel. Under the second seam is a flaring hip peplum. The sides are left completely bare with the shoulders extending down into the low waist of the back. These cross over straps that extend from under the bust at the front to create a grid at the side and back that keep the dress in place but leave the sides and back completely bare. I love that the seams that define the bust and waist are highlight with cording in a combination of a metallic gold and taupe. Excellent condition

Unlined and closes with a low back set zipper and hook & eye to close each of the straps at the back. Note that it was too tiny for my dress form and of course zips and closes perfectly on the correct sized girl. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little. The color is slightly paler in person. Hand finished

The print on this top and pant set is classic Pucci and I love the mix of citrus colors that are used to make up that print. The top and pant are both made from a beautiful, lightweight silk and it is in remarkable condition for its age. The fabric choice allows the set to feel like it weighs virtually nothing once it in on. It also drapes beautifully on the body. This light weight silk is a very difficult fabric to deal with and it is a testament to his atelier that the workmanship on this set is so finely done, especially when you realize it is almost entirely done by hand. The pants are just perfection. They have a sleek flat front, skim over the hip and then flare out to wide cut pants that are just slightly cropped. The matching top is cut to sit loose and easy over the torso and flares out just slightly over the hip. The neckline is high scoop and the sleeves are also cut wide with a slight flare at their ends. I love the contrasting border that highlights the front of the tunic and runs around the top's hem, cuffs and pant hem. The border that runs down the front of the top actually conceals a hidden set row of buttons. This allows you to open it completely and use it more as a layering, light jacket if you wish. Excellent condition

I am very pleased to begin presenting a collection of Bill Blass pieces from a woman who was a close personal friend of Mr. Blass for many years. Many of these pieces were custom made or tweaked specifically for her and all of them are in exquisite condition, having been stored and cared for properly over the years. These are rare and hard to find example of his work. Some may be the only version of its kind that were made. The family would also like it to be known that their portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to charity. 

The crepe fabric on this dress is the perfect choice for it to fall and drape perfectly once on the body. The fabric has just enough weight so that the drape down the front is perfectly executed, but it is still light enough to feel extremely comfortable once on the body. The simple yet dramatic cut has that nod back to the glamour days of Hollywood that you see in his best pieces. The interior of the bodice is has a concealed inner separate panel that is lightly boned and meant to hug and support the bust so you can go completely bare underneath. Straps made from the  same fabric extends from the center of the bust and curve up and around the neck. From the center bust the dress drapes down and around you, curving up at the front allowing for an unexpected flash of leg when you move and down to a longer length at the back. This then tops a second layer of fabric so that the dress falls to a full maxi length. A slit runs up the front so that you get a flash of leg when you move. It is simple, sexy and perfect. The bust has a full built in foundation that is lightly boned and closes with its own front set zipper. The exterior layer of the dress closes with a front hidden set zippers that is set along the front middle seam, disappearing under the draping once on. Hand finishes. Gianfranco Ferre is best known for his years at the helm of Dior where he headed the Atelier and House from 1989 until 1996. Prior to that he was designing his own line that launched in 1978 as a ready-to-wear line and then eventually added a couture line in 1986. This is an amazing gown from that period in the late 1980s - early 1990s that he was designing under his own name.

The dress showcases that wonderful minimalist feel that was the cornerstone of Ferre's best work. This approach to design is why I feel he is sometimes overlooked as a designer but it is work like this that stands the test of time. The dress is one long sheath with rope beading that highlights the lines and curves of the dress but in a very subtle way. It is the kind of dress that the closer you get to it the more you start to notice its genius. The top is cut with a simple scoop to the neck and capped sleeves. There is no horizontal seaming at the waist to break the line of the dress. It simply skims over the torso in a sleek column, gliding over the waist and flowing down into the skirt. The skirt is long and slim cut with a dramatic inset of black silk chiffon set into the back slit so that it trails down slightly past the hem and will create a bit of movement as you walk. The detail that he has added has been done with thick ropes of dense black seed beads. This is set around the neck and each sleeve. It trails down the center back to conceal hidden set hooks and then curves out on an angle at the back waist and down towards the hips at the from sides. This gives you a lovely curve and the illusion of bringing in the waist. Transparent black silk organza panels at the back offer just a glimpse of the skin under neath for the perfect finish. It is very flattering and the simplicity at first glance belies the masterful cut and line. Excellent condition.

Fully lined in a fine black silk and closes with a low back zipper that begins at the waist. Above that the back closed with a series of tightly spaced hook and eye. Hand finished interior seams. Note that it is cut very slim through the hips so sizing is mainly based on that measurement

I am very pleased to begin presenting a collection of Bill Blass pieces from a woman who was a close personal friend of Mr. Blass for many years. Many of these pieces were custom made or tweaked specifically for her and all of them are in exquisite condition, having been stored and cared for properly over the years. These are rare and hard to find example of his work from the late 1970s and into the 1980s. Some may be the only version of its kind that were made. The family would also like it to be known that their portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to charity. 

I absolutely love this dress and was very pleased to be able to date it. It is always a special treat to have a piece that is museum approved. Even outside of its Museum provenance it is a wonderful example of the work that Mr. Blass was doing in that period that sat on the verge of a new decade. It has his signature sleek lines combined with that shock of the wide ivory silk ribbon running up its length. It still feels shockingly modern despite being on the cusp of turning 40 in 2020. The body of the dress is made from a plush black velvet that gives it depth and an incredible rich and lush feeling. This fabric choice has enough of a weight to it that it holds the shape wonderfully and feels so very high end once on the body. I love the strapless neckline and how this emphasizes that ivory panel even more as it rises above the bodice on the one side. The ribbon is set so that it curves down the and around the body, extending the length of the person wearing it even more. It has a wrapped effect at the hem and this allows a bit of leg to show as you walk or sit. At the very top it flares up dramatically and a second black silk bow is tucked in there for extra detailing. The Washington Post once stated that "Seventh Avenue thought of Blass as the king of American fashion and his work has always been portrayed as quintessentially American". Everything about the cut is done to give the girl wearing it one long and beautiful silhouette. Its simplicity, combined with that over the top glamour of the ivory, is part of its appeal and it looks amazing once on. Excellent condition.

Fully lined in a black silk  with a inner corset that closes with its own zipper and is lightly boned. The outer velvet dress over this closes with a second, hidden set zipper at the back. Very well made with hand finishes. Tagged a vintage 12 and the fabric is slightly cut on the bias so it has a touch of give once on the body. Geoffrey Beene is one of the great American designers and I actively look for his work, especially the earlier pieces from his Geoffrey Beene Boutique days. The Boutique label was introduced in 1967 as an high end ready to wear label that was an alternative to his couture pieces that he had been producing since his self-named label launched in 1963. It was replaced in 1974 by the Beene Bag label, a more affordable RTW line.

This dress is wonderful and you cannot help but think of the holidays when you see its bright red, green and blue plaid. The fabric is a fine silk taffeta and that choice of fabric helps to give it the wonderful full skirt shape that you see. There are no crinolines under the skirt. The volume you see is achieved by the fabric alone and the way that it is set into the waist. I have put it on the mannequin with the buttons and zipper at the back. I have seen a version of this dress styled the other way around and I think that you could wear it either way depending on how it sits best on you. The way I have done it leaves the front with a more simple and sleek feel and the back feels more elaborate and detailed. The neck is high with a black silk ribbon that you can tie as you wish. A panel of the plaid silk sits almost like a cape over the shoulders. Under that are slim cut sleeves and the waist nips in with another long black silk ribbon to accent it and pick up on the tie at the neck. The skirt billows out under that and widens as it falls to the floor. It has a wonderfully formal feel to it with its austere cut, but this is perfectly balance by the festive feel of the silk. Excellent condition with a couple of minor notes to review below.

Fully interlined with a black silk netting through the bodice and skirt. It closes with a combination of a painted metal zipper below the waistline and hidden set snaps under the glossy black buttons above the waist to the neck. Note that the zipper sticks part way down. I have photoed how low it goes. It won't budge past that point but is otherwise fine. There is one tiny nick on the skirt and there is a nick out to he silk at the neck on the side. Both are minor and stable. Please review all three provided photos after the label shot.

This red, full length, silk jersey dress is from Karl Lagerfeld's own label. He launched his self-named label in 1984 and this dress would be from the earlier period of that line. It is made from a silk jersey in a deep red and has an easy to wear cut that give you a long and lean line. The skirt falls to the floor from a slightly dropped waist. The jersey gives it a column feel when you are standing still, but once you move, you realize that there is quite a bit of fabric there. At the front the skirt curves slightly up for a pretty and feminine touch. It skims over the hips and the dropped waist is flattering as it brings the eye down rather then draw attention to the waist line. The sleeves are cut slim and long with a gathered detail at each cuff and hidden set zippers to allow them to fit close to the wrist. The bodice is cut long to past the waist. The fabric that runs along one side of the bodice is gathered in soft folds. At the back it closes with a long series of tightly spaced fabric covered buttons. It comes with a matching, wide cut jersey sash that is very long. This will allow you to use it in several ways - wrap low on the hip as shown, use it around the waist or neck, or even wear as a turban. It really showcases Karl's genius with fabric and cut and is a wonderful example of his earlier work. Excellent condition with two small notes to review below.

Unlined except for the front bodice panel which is lined in a red silk. It closes at the back with buttons as shown. The fabric does have some stretch and is cut on the bias. There is a teeny tiny repair near the top button at the back and there is one tiny spot on the front just above the seam. Tagged a vintage 40 and the fabric does have some stretch

I love Josefa caftans and have covered the history of the label a couple of times in my instagram (go peek one day). They are like owning a piece of wearable art. Every single one of them was entirely hand made, detailed and embroidered. They were made in Mexico in the late sixties to early seventies and were the epitome of Bohemian chic in their day. They are easy to wear pieces that can go from the beach, to exploring far off markets, to being worn as an evening piece depending on how you style them.

This one is a gorgeous example of her work. The cotton is crisp and fresh feeling still and has been hand dyed to a beautiful ocean blue color with lighter turquoise accents. It has hand done embroidery work at the front neck and down the front. Piping in the lighter blue defines the neckline and sleeves. The sleeves are incredible. Each ends in a huge flare and those flares are actually a full circle of fabric. This gives them incredible volume and movement. The skirt also flares out and its volume is achieved through the turquoise insert that are set in long inverted triangles of fabric. The ocean blue and turquoise inserts and embroidery perfectly compliment each other. It is cut to sit slightly more fitted through the bodice and then flares out dramatically as it reaches the hem. The sleeves are cut to do the same and widen out as they near the cuffs. Excellent condition

Unlined and closes with a back metal zipper. The fabric has natural variations in it. It looks to have been worn very little if at all. The color in person is slightly lighter and more an ocean blue and true turquoise then how it photoed. It's even better in person I think. The loose cut will allow it to fit a range of sizes.

This is an extraordinary top. It is a stunning sequin and bead top that is entirely hand finished and in perfect condition. The sequin and bead work are all set onto a jersey base which is very unusual. It is constructed in the manner of a couture piece with the part of the top that is meant to tuck into your pant or skirt left bare. This allows you to tuck and secure the top so its sits perfectly in place when it is on but doesn't ruin the sequin work where it would be all folded and held. Newer pieces would never do this any more as its extra fabric used whose only purpose it to get the perfect fit. The entire top above that is densely covered in vertically places, overlapping deep red sequins, each tightly spaced for full coverage. These are applied onto the jersey so that the cover every inch of the top. This gives it a good weight but once on this weight is perfectly distributed over your torso. Heavy bead work details the neckline and all down that low dipping V at the back. More beads have been hand applies to detail each cuff for the perfect finish. It is very chic and very glamorous. I love it. Excellent condition.

This is a wonderful set that I think wold be impossible to have a bad day in when you have it on. The three colors together are remarkable and a testament to Bill's ability to mix colors and textures. The lines of the suit are beautiful and it has a sense of ease to it imparted from that happy mix of cheerful colors. At the same time the lines are all grown up and serious. The jacket is a salmon pink and the fabric has a touch of texture to it. It is remarkably tailored and cut. I love the huge gold button that closes the jacket and how the same buttons sits on each cuff. The jacket is sleekly cut with lightly padded shoulders and long sleeves. The waist curves in and the hips are cut on a rounded curve that is quite beautiful. The skirt falls to about the knee in a simple and chic pencil shape. Here he has used a bright spring green and the color is even better in person. Last is that deep yellow silk top with its wonderful ascot feeling finish at the neck. It also has flat gold buttons at the cuff for the perfect finishing detail. Everything about the cut and line of all three pieces is perfection and you could easily break them all up and wear mixed with your own pieces in your wardrobe. The suit was a little large for my dress form so will fir even better on the girl of the correct size for the set. Excellent condition

The jacket is lined in a crisp white, buttons to close and has padding in the shoulders. The buttons on each cuff are functional as are the front pockets. The skirt is lined in a matching green silk, zips to close at the waist and has an inner waist stay that hooks. The top buttons to close at the front and on each cuff. This, like the gold suit that I also have from this collection, is one of Bill's pieces that was very well documented during the year it was created. Casey Ribocoff was photoed wearing the jacket alongside of Bill himself and it was also photoed and featured in Vogue. The lines of the suit are beautiful and I am glad to have found reference photos that give you an idea of just how great it is once on. The jacket is heavily sequined and the dense covering of the black and white sequins covers  covers every inch. I love the huge white buttons that close the jacket and how the white circles that makes up the dots play on those buttons. The jacket is sleekly cut with lightly padded shoulders and long sleeves. The waist curves in and the hips are cut on a rounded curve that is quite beautiful. The skirt falls to about the knee in a simple and chic pencil shape with an elastic waist. It's simple black fabric is the perfect contrast to let the jacket shine. Everything about the cut and line of the suit is done to allow that wonderful jacket to take center stage. Excellent condition with a small note about the skirt below

Both pieces are fully lined in a black silk. The skirt has elastic at the waist. The jacket buttons to close and has padding in the shoulders. Note that the skirt was sent with the jacket and is what my clients mother wore with the jacket but it may have been purchased separately.  The elastic in the waist feels slightly stretched to me but is other wise pristine and it would be easy to alter or cut it down if needed. Basically I am including the skirt at no cost and the price is really based on the jacket alone.

This is a beautiful Pucci dress that is made from one of his signature silk jerseys. This one has a base that is done in a vivid coral with a bright pattern worked onto it in a mix of purple and green. The colors absolutely pop off that coral backdrop. The bodice skims over the bust and continues in a loose fitting sheath right down to the hem. One of his signature contrasting printed borders runs down the front for detailing. A horizontal band of that same border accents the upper chest and another one also runs down the center of each sleeve. The cut is a simple and classic sheath with a slight A-line cut as the skirt nears its hem. The sleeves are left simple and slim cut to the elbow. This one has the added bonus of still having its original silk and beaded crystal tassel belt. These belts were hand made by Coppola e Toppo and are very well documented. I have seen these sold on their own for several hundred dollars and even girls who have used them as necklaces. Still having it with the dress means that you are getting a little extra fabulous. This is a classic Pucci silhouette that is instantly recognizable and very sexy despite it not being super form fitting. This colorway is fantastic and his fabric choice and the high quality of the silk jersey that he used means that the colors are remarkably bright and true even after all these years. Excellent condition.

We are huge Pucci fans around here and this one is a beauty. It is an unusual one in that it has a lot of black in the design, a color that you do not see used as often in his pieces. This is combined with a beautiful array of bright and vivid flowers that run over the entire dress to still give it that classic Pucci feel. It is an amazing mix of color and design. The print is screened onto a light silk jersey that feels wonderful once on the body. It has a simple silhouette and just slips on with a wide cut neckline that has no collar. Buttons run down the upper back and the cut is loose and easy. The bodice skims over the bust all the way to the hem in a soft sheath of jersey. It is a very simple cut that leaves the waist unfitted - though you could certainly cinch with a belt for more shape of you wished. This is a classic Pucci silhouette that is instantly recognizable and very sexy despite it not being super form fitting since the fabric drapes so wonderfully. Very easy to wear cut and super chic. The entire dress is light and comfortable when on and the silk jersey is very good quality. Excellent condition.

This gorgeous printed ball gown skirt and silk top set is a wonderful example of the work that Blass was doing in this time period. We were able to date it exactly with a family photo that my client has. The skirt is made out of a fine silk taffeta that is printed with gorgeous ever-sized floral print. The silk has been dyed to a soft golden tone and then the flowers are screened onto that in a mix of soft pastels with pops of purple that pick up on the purple of the top. It comes with a wide silk band that wraps around the waist. The band is finished in a soft earthy burgundy. Circling the very bottom of the hem is a wide strip of a copper silk satin. The skirt is very full and I have not used any crinolines under the skirt for these shots. The fullness that you see is created through the way it is cut and seamed which is incredible. The choice of the silk taffeta also helps it to hold the shape while still keeping it very light in weight. The top is a light silk that has a slight texture running through it. It is made with elastic all through the neckline so that you can wear it on, or fully off, the shoulders. More elastic is used at the waist which makes it insanely comfortable to wear. I love that you can wear it tucked in, loose and easy, or with the belt to really cinch it in. Each sleeve is cut to be very full with lots of volume. Having the three pieces makes it so versatile as you can wear it all together for the full Blass look, or mix and match with modern pieces from your wardrobe. It is beautifully made and wonderfully extravagant. Excellent condition with one small note below

Both pieces are unlined. The skirt closes with a metal and nylon zipper and a flat hook & eye at the waist. The skirt has some very slight marks along the hem. I photoed the worst area but there are some more. You really don't notice them once it is one due to the volume. Please review the photo after the label shot. The top slips on with elastic through the neckline and shoulders. There is also elastic around the waist and each cuff. The waist band closes with hook and eye.

This wonderful evening suit is made from a soft pink silk that gives it a beautiful feminine feel. Both the skirt and the jacket are made out of this silk and then it also has a top for under the jacket that is made from a paler, softer pink silk chiffon. The jacket is a sleekly constructed piece that has no front closures. The shoulders are lightly padded shoulders and the sleeves are long. The body of the jacket is cut loose and easy and flares out slightly as it nears the hip. I love the vertical pockets that sit on either side. These are there only for decoration but add a lovely detail. The skirt is a long slim sheath that fall to the floor in one long and simple line. The final perfect finish is the baby pink silk chiffon top underneath that weighs next to nothing. This wraps and hooks into place and the softness of the top is the perfect contrast tot he feminine play on a man's suiting - a Blass signature. Having the three pieces makes it so versatile as you can wear it all together for the full Blass look, or mix and match with modern pieces from your wardrobe. Excellent condition

Both the jacket and skirt are fully lined in silk with ribbon edge finishes and hand finished. The skirt closes with a zipper and flat hook & eye at the waist. The jacket has no front closures and lightly padded shoulders. The top wraps over itself and snaps into place. It comes with a matching silk chiffon tie that I have shown styled around the neck in the photos. It looks like there were maybe buttons on the cuffs of the jacket at one point but they work perfectly fine without. Note that on person the pinks are more a baby toned pink

This is part of a collection of Bill Blass pieces from a woman who was a close personal friend of Mr. Blass for many years. Many of these pieces were custom made or customized specifically for her and all of them are in wonderful condition. These are rare and hard to find example of his work from the late 1970s and into the 1980s. Some may be the only version, colour, print or design that was ever made. The family would also like it to be known that their portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to charity.

This gorgeous full length skirt and top set is a wonderful example of the work that Blass was doing in this time period. We were able to date it exactly based on a family photo that my client has. He pulled out the stops for the creation of this set. It is made out of two silks. The first is a crisp right green silk taffeta that he used for the skirt and sash. He then chose a softer textured purple silk for the top. A third colour is brought into the mix with the the tie belt that is a silk finished in periwinkle. The skirt is very full and I have not used any crinolines under the skirt for these shots. The fullness that you see is all done through the way it is cut and the seaming. The choice of the silk taffeta also helps it to hold the shape while still keeping it very light in weight. The skirt has a double silk sash attached around the waist. One part is the same purple as top and the other is a soft and pretty blue. The top is a light silk that has a slight texture running through it. It buttons down the front and the way that the buttons are set gives you just the peek of skin between the buttons. Each sleeve is cut to be very full and have lots of volume. It comes with a matching silk taffeta sash that is in the same green as the skirt and I have used it to create a large bow at the neck. You could style the sash a variety of ways other then this but I liked the balance it created in both he colour and the volume. Having the three separate pieces makes it very versatile because you can wear it all together for the full Blass look, or mix and match with modern pieces from your wardrobe. It is beautifully made and wonderfully extravagant. Excellent condition with a minor note below.

Both pieces are unlined. The skirt closes with a metal and nylon zipper and a flat hook & eye at the waist. The skirt hem is finished with a 3/4" strip of stiffened dressmakers tape to give it some weight and structure. The top buttons to close. The tie around the waist is attached and the tie at the neck is a separate piece. There are some very faint minor marks on both the skirt and the top. Please review the photos after the label shot.

This stunning suit is made from a light silk lame that has a leopard print covering the surface of both pieces. This gives it a lovely exotic feel to it. Both pieces have a golden, metallic sheen from the fine gold lurex that runs through the silk. I love the colors that have been used on the leopard print. It combines a startling red and purple worked into the spots that are set on shades of green and then topped with the gold. The jacket is sleekly constructed with padded shoulders and long sleeves. The body of the jacket curves in slightly at the waist and then flares out above the hip. Little slash pockets sit on either side and flat gold buttons run down the front. Each sleeve is finished with three more flat gold buttons. The quality of the piece shows in that those button holes are all properly finished and the buttons are functional buttons on the sleeves as well, not just decorative. Each pocket has the same care put into its construction. The skirt wraps and hooks to close. It is unlined and this creates a feeling of weightless and a contrast to the structure of the jacket. It also leaves a long, high opening along one side so you see some leg when you sit or walk. The final perfect finish is the red silk lining of the jacket that gives a starling contrast when you see it. Excellent condition

The jacket is fully lined in a red silk and the skirt is unlined. The skirt warps to close and hooks and snaps into place. You could easily move these to adjust the waist as required. The jacket buttons to close. It looks to have been worn very little if at all

This is a lovely example of Bill's work that has the added provenance of being featured in the September issue of Vogue that in 1986. It's twin was photographed on Paulina Porizkova and I have included that reference photo here. Both the dress and jacket are made out of the most extraordinary fabric. He has used a fine silk velvet that has gold thread lame running through it in the manner of a men's suiting. This gives both pieces an incredible sheen when combined with the velvet. As it catches the light it almost has the feel of a liquid running over you. The dress is strapless with a built in inner bodice that gives it structure internally but from the outside you only see the fabric falling in one smooth line. The bodice has carefully placed hand done gathers that give just the hint of detailing. Under that the skirt falls to the floor in one long lean line. There is no slit on this one, rather the fabric is cleverly laid out so there is hidden volume as it nears the hem. Over this is the remarkable jacket that has a more structured feel to it. The cut is pure Blass with the waist just a suggestion and the shoulders boxed and padded. The sleeves are long and each is finished at the cuff with a wide band of hand done bead and sequin work. This same incredible detailing runs around the collar, down the front and circles all around the hem of the jacket. It is incredible and very chic. Excellent condition

Both pieces are fully lined in silk. The dress closes with a double zipper at the back, with the inner one closing the inner corset. The inner corset is boned and shaped. The jacket closes with hidden snaps at the front and hook & eye at the neck and waist. The bead work is hand done and elaborate.

This is a gorgeous cotton velvet skirt by Emilio Pucci that has been done in a beautiful mix of pinks and taupe. The main parts of the skirt are covered in a classic Pucci pattern that combines two shades of pink, taupe, a deep purple, and a soft off white. The edge of the hem and the waist are defined with one of his signature borders. On this skirt there is also border that has been worked into the print and runs down the length of one side . These borders always make his pieces instantly recognizable. I love how feminine the design is and the mix of colors make it easy to work into your wardrobe. Excellent condition

Fully lined in a pink silk and closes with a side painted metal zipper that sits under a panel of velvet so is hidden. A hidden fabric covered snap sits at the waist to hold the velvet panel in place. Tagged a vintage Pucci 12 but please go by actual measurements as vintage Pucci runs small

If you have been looking for a statement dress for the season look no further then this incredible Emanuel Ungaro dress that is absolutely amazing. The color is wonderful. It is a metallic feeling blue on a silk taffeta. This fabric gives it a touch of a shimmer and depth as it catches the light. The fabric is quite light in weight so despite the elaborate construction of the dress is not heavy to wear, but it does hold the intended shape fabulously. The bodice is cut with a strapless, modified sweetheart neckline and hugs the body. It is elaborately gathered and fitted around the bust with hand placed and gathered folds. This was an Ungaro signature and really made his pieces flattering once on. An angled sash wraps and hooks into place to detail the waist even more. Under that the skirt explodes in a pouf of shape and volume. Elaborate gathers mold the shape so the skirt feel asymmetrical on one side and on the other there is a huge half bow that gives even more volume to that hip. The opening of the skirt at the very bottom is deliberately kept to be as minimal as possible, forcing you to move in a way that highlights the shape even more. It is incredible. Excellent condition.

Fully lined in a black silk and closes with a side zipper from the waist up and silk covered snaps under the wait. The bodice is boned. Tagged a vintage Ungaro 10 but cut small. It appears to have never been worn, or worn very little.

I absolutely love this dress. It is an amazing example of the work that Mr. Blass was doing in the late 1970s, early eighties time period. It is an amazing find with its sleek lines and those wonderful over-sized pockets that sit on each hip. It still feels shockingly modern in a very minimalist kind of way. It is made from a remarkable, baby soft, plush black cashmere that feels like heaven to the touch. This fabric choice has enough of a weight to it that it holds the shape wonderfully and feels so very high end once on the body. I love the squared off bust-line and skinny straps in a matching fabric. I think that if you wished you could even wear this one strapless and it would work amazingly. The front has two big pocket for that classic American ease his clothing has. The Washington Post once stated that "Seventh Avenue thought of Blass as the king of American fashion and his work has always been portrayed as quintessentially American". The dress is cut to supermodel length and the lines of it make it feel even longer. Everything about the cut is done to give the girl wearing it one long and beautiful silhouette. At the back the zipper is hidden along the offset side seam and there is a slit at the bottom part of that same seam that allow for just a touch of leg to show as you walk away. Its simplicity is part of its appeal and it looks amazing once on. Excellent condition.

This is a beautiful dress from the late 1970s, early 1980s that showcases the elegance that the best of his work had. The Washington Post once stated that "Seventh Avenue thought of Blass as the king of American fashion and his work has always been portrayed as quintessentially American". The dress is cut to supermodel length and the lines of it make it feel even longer. Everything about the cut is done to give the girl wearing it one long and beautiful silhouette. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are long. The dress is cut to follow the body underneath in a way that the fabric just skims over you from shoulder to hem. The fabric is a soft wool jersey that feels like it has a touch of cashmere in it. The dress buttons all the way down the front so feels like an extended, full length sweater dress once it is on. The buttons completely open so you could actually wear this is a layered piece over something else underneath if you wished. Big pockets sit on each hip for that perfect touch of ease. The fabric and cut are in direct contrast to the high evening glamour that is created by the addition of glossy black sequins that completely cover the dress. These are all hand applied and shimmer when the lights hit them. It is simple, yet striking, and has not a single unnecessary seam. Excellent condition

Bill Tice pieces are among my favorites and his one shoulder pieces are especially fabulous. The ones I have had in the shop prior to this have all been dated to 1981 from an advertisement that I sourced with none other then Jerry Hall wearing another version of his single shoulder dress. The one I have available here today is a little extra special because the way that it has been designed will allow you to wear it multiple ways. 

Every girl that has bought a Bill Tice piece through me has loved it. His pieces are easy to wear and care for. His one shoulder dresses in particular are one of those fail safe pieces that you know is going to work every time you put it on. When I do get one in they tend to fly out the door. The dress is insanely sexy with an easy to wear caftan feel that is suspended from one single shoulder. I love the heavy silver metal ring that wraps around the single shoulder for detailing. This snake feeling metal loop is moveable and is part of what gives you the option to wear it different ways. The dress is made of a black liquid jersey that feels amazing on and has the added bonus of traveling very well. It is the kind of piece you can throw into your suit case and slip on with either flats or heels when you reach some far off destination and be instantly ready to go. It is made from two pieces that are attached to each other. There is an inner strapless dress with elastic around it for comfort. This elastic lets you be able to wear that part of the dress up and over the chest or around the waist as a skirt. Attached to that is the angled overlay and you can see from my photos that you can wear this on either shoulder with full coverage underneath, or with the inner piece set lower. You could even add a Tee or Bandeau under it. It can also be worn scooped and draped at the front so the back is left bare, or even more as a cape with the inner piece either pulled up as a dress or left low as a skirt. There are probably even more ways  to style it then this even if you played around with it. A slit up one leg that shows when you walk or sit is the perfect finishing detail. So fun and  such a versatile piece. Excellent condition

James Galanos made couture-level gowns with a level of craftsmanship that were on par with the French couturiers. Galanos was a master cutter and draper and he used couture techniques in the construction of his dresses and gowns.His work is held in all of the major museums and he is one of my personal favorites.

Here he has used a beautiful, fine silk chiffon that is completely covered with a large purple flower print. The skirt is cut to have a touch of a wrapped, sarong feel to it. It is attached but set into the waist so that a part of it wraps around you and then hooks into place at the side of the waist. This gives it that lovely curved line at the front and the draping down one side that you see. It also lets you see all three layers of silk that he has constructed the skirt from. There is the top floral printed layer, a middle layer that is a solid purple in the same tone, and then the innermost  layer under those is done in an unexpected shot of green. When you move you get flashes of that green and the effect is marvelous. The bodice has a slightly scooped neck and each sleeve billows out on a pouf of fabric above its cuff. The back  of the dress closes with a series of buttons that run from the nape of the neck to the waist. The bodice is constructed with an inner top with tiny straps and then the looser top layer lies over that. It has a long matching silk sash that you can use to define the waist, or you could tie it at the neck, or use as a head scarf. Excellent condition

The inner top of the bodice acts like the lining with the sleeves left unlined. The skirt has three layers of silk chiffon to it as described above. It closes with a low, hidden set painted metal zipper that is hand set onto the interior dress. The exterior layer over the bodice closes with silk covered buttons and hook and eye. Each sleeve closes with a zipper. Bias cut so there is a little  with the measurements whoch I have given below. Appears unworn.

The colors on this piece are amazing. It is a dreamy combination of his signature purple mixed with pink,  lavender and white. The colors together are quite beautiful and these brighter pink and purple pieces are some of the most coveted of the Pucci color combinations. His famous contrasting edging is used to highlight the cut and emphasize the design. The nylon jersey that was used for these pieces is fluid and soft and the resulting dress weighs mere ounces. The top is sleeveless an with a deep V front and higher set V at the back. Through the body it is cut loose and easy so is extremely comfortable when on and will fit a range of sizes too. Even though his work for the Formfit Rogers line was meant to be lingerie, a modern girl will find that it is completely wearable as a dress with some clever underpinnings. These can can also be used as chic beach cover ups while on vacation. Collectors know that in the EPFR world, pretty pieces like this and in this condition are real rarity. Being able to wear it as a true dress is just bonus. Excellent condition

Halston is one of those rare labels where the more time that goes by since the pieces were originally made, the more relevant his pieces feel. This is one of those pieces that will instantly become a closet staple  for you. It is a no brainer in that you just slip it on and you know that you will look and feel amazing. It has his signature simplicity and ease with a touch of that Studio 54 sexiness thrown in. I normally stick to his main line label when I bring things into the shop but make a few exceptions for certain pieces that I know will work perfectly for my clients. It simply slips on and is a wash and wear jersey. The seam along the top of the shoulder are slightly curved so there is just the hint of shape and interest there. The sleeves are cut wide and full near the body and then narrow down as they reach the wrist. The body of the dress is cut very loose and easy and it narrows down as it reaches the hem. A high front slit allows a bit of leg to show when you move or sit. A V at the front gives the perfect flash of skin and the basic black means you can wear it with just about anything and dress it up or down depending on how you style it. Brilliantly Halston in every way and very easy to wear. Excellent condition

Victor Costa launched his own label in 1974 and was known for producing his own versions of what was seen on the Paris runways. He also looked to the Americans for inspiration as well. He used good fabrics and his designs were often very close interpretations of other designs but with his own unique twist when it came to colors and fabrics.

This dress is so pretty with its pale blue color mixed with white and its incredible fabric. The fabric seems simple at first glance but the closer you look the more you realize just how wonderful it is. That leaf pattern is not screened onto the fabric, rather it is a raised design that is woven through the fabric. It is quite fabulous as this gives the dress the most amazing texture. The neck and waist are then detailed with big tear drop plastic beads set within embroidered lace drops that mimic that same shape as the beads. The beads range from a deep milky white color to ones that have a teeniest touch of blue to them. Interspersed in that lace border that circles both the waist and neckline, are also little prong set rhinestones for the most subtle touch of glitz. The bodice is sleeveless with a scooped neckline. The waist is set just a touch high and the skirt goes to the floor in a gently widening curve. The fabric has just a touch of weight to it so helps to hold the shape. It is really incredibly pretty in real life and even better then how it photoed. Excellent condition

The skirt is unlined and the bodice is fully lined in a white silky rayon and closes with a back zipper and the velvet tie at the back of the neck.

I am always thrilled to find a really great Emilio Pucci piece. The truly great ones are getting very hard to find and this one is exceptional. By the 1960s, the time period that this set is from, Pucci was a world-wide phenomenon. Hollywood stars like Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren and even Jackie Kennedy were huge fans. For all of the many attempts since to catapult the label back to the height of its glory, the days when Emailio himself oversaw the label and designed the prints will always be the most special to me.

This is one of the prettiest Pucci sets I have ever had in the shop. It is a gorgeous combination of a blues with a white mixed through the pattern on the silk. These colors are combined in a striking design that sweeps over both pieces. It also has the advantage of being two pieces which allows you to mix and match it with pieces you already own, or wear it together to get the appearance of wearing a proper dress. As is typical in a Pucci piece, he has used bands of a different printed silk to define the waist and hem on the skirt and also the cuffs of the top. On this set those borders are pretty little curving circle flourishes rather than the typical geometric print that his borders are usually finished with. This adds to the soft and feminine feel it has. The cut is very flattering. Each sleeve is cut wide and fill so that it has a wonderful fullness and airiness to it above its cuffed wrist. The neckline is softly scooped and sits wide across both the front and back neck. If you are slim through the shoulders it will have an bit of an off-shoulder feel to it even. The body of the top is cut to be loose and easy. On the skirt, the waist is defined by printed silk band. From there the skirt flares out to the floor in a gradually widening line and the skirt is quite full by the time it reaches the floor. I love how it is cut so that is falls in soft folds and gets more movement and fullness as it nears the hem. It is very feminine but sexy at the same time. I absolutely love it. Excellent condition

Fully lined in a pale blue silk chiffon. The top slips on to wear  and closes at the back with a painted metal zipper and hook & eye at the waist band. Each cuff snaps to close with fabric covered, hidden snaps. Note that the color is prettier in person and more towards a cornflower blue

George Stavropoulos was known for his evening wear and his signature looks often involved draping and the use of multiple layers of silk done on a bias cut. He focused on cut and fabric to convey the beauty of each piece. It was said that his gowns "seemed to float on air". He launched his label in 1960 and soon was dressing women like Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy, Barbra Streisand and Maria Callas. His dresses were made by hand and to couture standards. By the early 1980s a gown by him started at around $8500 and they went up in cost from there - that starting price point equals to around $26,000US in today's dollars. So when you buy a vintage Stavropoulos gown you are getting incredible value for your money. The only reason his work is not under the Haute Couture category is because he was not an official member of the association.

I love the light and airy feel of the dress that is created by the yards and yards of silk chiffon used for the skirt. This is mixed with a low waist top that is constructed out of a ivory embroidered lace. To highlight the pattern that runs through the lace little iridescent clear beads have been hand set and scattered over it. The silk layers that make up the skirt are all cut on the bias and this gives it lovely movement. The bodice is sleeved and the neckline cut wide across with very light padding in the shoulders for shape. The back is cut into a V so you get a bit of skin showing there. The top layer of the bodice is made of an embroidered cut work lace done in a creamy ivory. Note that in person it is far more a true ivory that the deeper color it has photoed as. The waist has no defined seam and skims over to a the upper hips with gathers on either side. Excellent condition

Fully lined in an ivory silk chiffon and closes with a hand set, painted metal zipper at the back. Light padding in each shoulder. Very well finished. In person it is a true ivory. The photos have given it a bit of a taupe feel and it is not that deep a color in person.

This one, made out of a printed terry cloth, is particularly rare. These are very hard to find as most were worn them extensively and most did not survive intact and in such great condition. Variations of terrycloth pieces were heavily featured in the display at the Fondazione Emilio Pucci, Palaxxo Pucci, in Florence. There, they were displayed and encased under glass so that you could see then from every angle and each felt like a sculpture. This example of a playsuit is in wonderful condition and the colors are still bright and true.

It is made out of a terry cloth, toweling velvet and is a stunning example of Pucci's work during this time period. It is an all in one piece with short sleeves and built in shorts. The print is a gorgeous design that combines curving shapes, angled geometric and little pops of stylized flowers. The colors that he used mixes pale green, purple, turquoise and white.The front neckline is cut into a V with a bordered edge to define it. It is cut loose through the body to glide over your curves and then ends in short shorts. I love the contrasting borders around the shorts that balance out the one at the neckline. It is a joy to look at from every angle and combines sexy with that girl-next-door innocence feel perfectly. The fabric is signed throughout. These are hard to come by and a fantastic collector piece. Excellent condition

Unlined with closes with a back painted metal zipper. The inside is clean with overall mild yellowing to the white interior. Other then the minor discoloration in the interior it appears to have worn very little from the outside. Note that this photoed as deeper then how the colors are in real life - it is much more a pastel feeling purple and green and the terry cloth fabric softens the color even more.

There is also some grubbiness to the exterior around the waist, seat and around the arms and shoulder. All of it is very mild and it is completely wearable as is - please review the photos shows after the label photo. This was all taken into account when pricing. Note that in person the purple parts feel stronger then the and it photoed as deeper then how the colors are in real life - it is much more a pastel feeling purple and blue and the terry cloth fabric softens the color even more.

This is a striking little dress from one of the Bill Blass diffusion lines in the 1980s. It is not 100% perfect but its imperfections are minor and it has too much style to not out it out in the world for some girls to wear and love it.

The dress is made from a jersey that combines a white bodice with a black wrapped over skirt and a draped shoulder. This gives the dress a bit of a Grecian vibe. The bodice is gathered and strapless, zipping up on one side. Over this is a wide draped panel of the fabric that swoops over the shoulder and then down both the front and back. I love how it is gathered along the top of the shoulder, perfectly tying in the gathers along the side of the white bodice. The other shoulder is left completely bare for the perfect balance to the other side. The bodice is lightly boned to hold it on place. The skirt is wrapped around the body and curves up at the front so that when you move or sit you get a flash of leg. It has its original matching belt made of the same jersey. Overall excellent condition with a note to review below.

The bodice is fully lined in a ivory nylon fabric and the skirt is unlined. It closes with a side zipper. Lightly boned through the inner bodice. Comes with its matching belt that hooks to close. Note that there is a little yellowing/grubbiness to the fabric near the base of the zipper and to a small part of the fabric under the arm that lies under the black draped shoulder. This one you do not see when it is on since the draping covers it completely. Both areas are photoed and can be seen after the label shot.

Luis Estevez worked for Jean Patou for two years before starting his own label in 1955 and had a long and successful career. By 1968 was based in California and his designs from that period on reflected that West coast vibe. Lana Turner, Rosalind Russel and Eva Gabor, who he even designed for when she had her won label. He loved using black and white and this gown is a perfect example of his approach to modern dressing for his California clientele.

This gorgeous Estevez dress is perfect for the summer and can easily transition  between day and night. The jersey that was used for this one has an almost swimsuit feel to it weight wise. This makes it easy to care for. It is wash and wear and virtually wrinkle free. It can be folded into your suitcase and will be ready to go when you arrive at your destination. The cut is very flattering with a long lean body, tiny straps that hook into place and a built in bodice inside that gives you shape. I love that the straps hook into place because that gives you the ability to unhook them and wear this as a strapless dress if you wished. The base is black and onto this is screened a graphic print of lilies in white and greys. It is so pretty and chic and still feels fresh and current. Excellent condition.

It has a built in bodice with elastic that sits just under the bust and the rest of the dress is unlined. It closes at the back with a painted metal and nylon zipper.Note the straps are extra long and they can also be worn to cross over at the back and the front. You can easily move the position of the hooks to shorten them to the perfect length for you if you prefer them to not cross.

Each Josefa labeled piece was hand made in Mexico in the late sixties to early seventies. They made fabulous caftans that are amazing pieces of art-to-wear.  They look and feel like it could have been worn by Talitha Getty or any of the other jet-set girls that really pushed the Bohemian movement forward in their day. 

This one is an easy to wear piece that you can wear to the beach, all through a day of exploring or as an evening piece with a change of accessories. The design is based on a classic sleeved, caftan dress silhouette that pairs a finely woven, brilliantly hand dyed cotton with with hand stitched on applique work. I love the bright and happy colors of this one. It is a mix of primaries with a bright pink, yellow, green and blue worked into the design. It is cut to be slightly more fitted through the top and then flares out dramatically as it nears the hem. Each sleeve is cut straight and wide. Excellent condition

Unlined and slips on to wear. The fabric has natural variations in it and is hand dyed. I see one small smudge on the yellow at the side. Please review the shot after the label photo to see. Note that in person the colors are slightly more bright and true then how it photoed. I took a full front and back shot so you can see the shape laying flat. The loose cut will allow it to fit a full range of sizes

I am always on the look out for this style of dress by Halston. It is perhaps the most iconic of all of the Halston silhouettes and in 2016 a red version of this exact dress entered modern day fashion history when Kate Moss wore its twin on the red carpet at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. And just this year, Martha Hunt wore a white one that she sourced from us to Cannes. She landed on several Best Dressed lists as a result. These were issued on a variety of colors and this one is a deep pink that is made from a nylon jersey rather then the more typical knit jersey. This fabric choice gives the dress a very slight sheen and the jersey is slightly lighter and more fluid.

Halston was a master at this cut. There is a certain sexiness caused by the illusion of having the entire dress suspended from single shoulder. It gives the sense that the entire dress could drop in a puddle around you by slipping that off your shoulder (which it would). It is constructed from two attached layers.  The inner dress is cut from the same nylon jersey and skims over the body in a long sheath. This inner part of the dress has a high slit cut into the side that travels up the side of the leg opposite to the draped side. Attached to that inner sheath lies a draped panel of jersey that is suspended from the shoulder. It falls from that shoulder down and over the front and the back of the dress. The jersey cascades loosely down from the shoulder and over the inner layer for the ultimate Grecian goddess feel. This is a classic dress by Halston that is perfect for traveling as it is wash and wear and will travel exceedingly well. It is very easy to style too - a quick change of shoe takes it day to night in a snap. Excellent condition.

Slips on to wear with no closures. These will fit a variety of sizes since they are not cut to be super fitted and the jersey does have some stretch. Note the color is slightly more pink and a touch more vibrant then how it photoed. It is better in person I think.

This is likely the early work of Elinor Simmons before her name went on the labels. She designed for the Malcolm Starr label from the early 1960s to 1972. You can see her influence in this classic feeling Malcolm Starr dress with its almost sculptural lines and elaborate beading, sequin and rhinestone embellishments on the bodice.

The dress itself has a simple and long A-line cut with a sleeveless bodice and a wide scooped neck. At the back, it is also scooped but this is set far lower so that the upper back is left bare. The entire dress is made out of a satin finish silk of very high grade. This has been dyed a shocking, vibrant pink that is far better in person even then how it photoed here. Onto that is a beautiful hand done detailing that completely covers the bodice of the dress across the full front and the back. Gold toned tubes beads are mixed with seed beads and prong set rhinestones in a dense 3D application. These catch the light wonderfully and the final effect is quite beautiful. The upper portion of the dress skims over the bodice with a high set waist line. The skirt comes out from under the seam at the waist, gently widening out as it nears the floor. It is cut supermodel length which is not always as common in pieces from this era. The fabric choice really holds the shape of the dress beautifully and the color is wonderful. It is really a lovely dress. Excellent condition.

Fully lined through the bodice in a fine silk dyed to the same color and the skirt is lined in a white muslin. The dress closes with a back painted metal zipper. It looks to have been worn very little if at all. Note that color is a bit deeper then how it photoed. The elaborate rhinestone, sequins and beads on the upper bodice are all set by hand. There is an additional 3" turned up under the hem.
