1950s Hand Painted Emma Domb Dress
This Emma Domb dress is just so pretty! It is a really a lovely and early example of the kind of dreamy dresses the company made and the fact that parts of the pattern are actually hand painted onto the chiffon is just bonus. The pattern is a lovely one of bold roses mixed with greenery. I love how the roses are in a denser design through the bodice and down the center of the dress and then buds trail off into the fabric on either side. The bodice is very pretty with thin straps and a simple cut. The waist is defined with a softly gathered band of fabric. The skirt is amazing and quite full with lots and lots of fabric! The design as screened onto the chiffon and then the lighter highlights added after. It is really wonderful! Excellent condition.
Fully lined in a white silky rayon and the inner edges are ribbon finished. The skirt has an additional tulle lining built in. Light boning through the bodice. Closes with a painted metal zipper.
