1960s Bob Bugnand Silk, Brocade & Crystal Hostess Dress
Bob Bugnand pieces are a rare find and this particular gown is not only a beautiful example of his work but also is a bit of a time capsule piece as it still has its original tags on it. Back in the 1960s it would have cost $285 - which works out to approximately $2300 in modern dollars. It makes me think that is the type of piece that a girl like Audrey Hepburn would have worn to host a party at her home in - with her hair piled high and ballet slipper son her feet for comfort. The skirt flows to the floor and is made of a silk brocade with a hint of gold thread running through the design. Above that, the waistline has 2 curving, thick bands of sparkling prong set crystals in a bevy of pastel tones that adds sparkle. It's like wearing jewels. This is balance by a soft pouffed top with a high neck and two layers of silk - one peach and one a pretty soft blue grey. The sleeves are cut very full above their cuffs and the entire dress is just pretty and romantic in feel. Excellent, with original tags condition, with one small area of missing rhinestones at the back as photoed.
Fully lined through the bodice in a peach silk and interlined through the skirt with a linen look mix fabric in pale pink. The sleeves are left unlined, It closes at the back with a painted metal zipper and each cuff has hidden snaps to close. A small area of missing rhinestones at the back and it is priced accordingly. The color is a little more peach pink then photoed.
