• This is a very very pretty little dress from the Fall 2006 Chloe collection
  
• The dress is strapless and gathered across the bodice in a series of soft gathers that wrap around to the back.
• Inside there is light boning and structure to hold the dress around you.
• The waist nips in under that and gathers extend slightly past that just above the top of the hip.
• Some of the chiffon has been gathered along one side of the waist and then a wide deeper ivory panel of fabric wraps around the waist and is brought into a half bow on one side with the ends trailing down.
• Under that the skirt is made out of a matching ivory chiffon and it is gathered in all the way around the waist to create soft pleats to the hem.
• As it nears the hem it flares out slightly and I love how the chiffon has been caught up and curved back back under the hem of the skirt. This gives it a little bit of extra volume and a pretty movement when you move.
• Underneath the edge of the skirt there is a pretty little scalloped ruffle set in three layers so you just see a touch of it peeking out from the edge of the hem.
  
• The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk and it closes with an exposed zipper at the back. I see some very shallow marks under each arm and tiny bit of fraying along the edge. Please see the photos after the label shot. They are very minor, but mentioned for accuracy.

• After much research I believe this to be from the Spring 1979 Chloe collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld. 
• In this collection he moved away from 1940s as his inspiration into the sex appeal of the 1950s, said the book 'Chloe Catwalk'. The silhouettes were based on the hourglass. In that same book there was a very similar floral patterns shown I have included several photos here for you.
• Hand placed gathering emphasizes the hips for many of the pieces in this collection, along with extra emphasis on the waist. Lagerfeld said of the collection to the press "Frivolity is important. I want shape and sensualness."
• The dress is made from one of his signature feather light silks being used during this time period for Chloe. It is screened with a custom print that mixes an ivory, more pastel coral colour and a pale lavender.
• An interesting detail is that the labels are on the side of the dress that I think is the front. The side that has the deep plunge is longer in length at the hem so I believe that should be the back. I have seen other dresses with this label placement from around this time period and when the back is plunged like this, so it is not unusual to see. I have photoed it both ways for you, with the plunge at the back and the front. You could potentially wear the plunge at the front if you don't mind the longer hem at the front much like that Lacroix dress from me that was worn to the Met Gala a couple years ago when they turned it around backwards.
• The sleeves are long and it skims over the bust to the waist. The back plunges into a low V to just above the waist. As mentioned above, it is possible that you could wear it either way around. It is incredibly sexy worn either way.
• The waist is seamed and the dress comes with its original striped screened silk belt that hooks into place around you. The stripes on the belt pick up the stripes that are on the end of each sleeve and circle around the hem.
• The skirt curves over the hips and there is a gathering of the silk for added shape. It falls to the floor with the back cut longer then the front for a slight trained effect. You get the most fantastic movement as you walk.
• The dress is in its original uncut length and is unlined. It closes with a back hand set zipper. Hand finishes throughout. There is a tiny bit of fading at the top of the shoulders and edges of the hems. The entire dress looks to be hand dyed and or screened and it presents perfectly once on as this becomes part of the uniqueness of the pattern. The belt hooks to close.
• Excellent condition with the note above.

• The twin of this dress walked the Fall 2001 Chloe runway for the opening look of the show.
• It was made under the creative direction of Stella McCartney
• The Stella McCartney era at Chloe has since become extremely collectible. The Fall 2001 show in particular was a fantastic representation of her time at the label.
• This was the opening look for the show and in Vogue's review they specifically mentioned the faux coats that were treated so glamorously with added details saying; "Stella McCartney continued with her exploration of grown-up, couture-inspired silhouettes for Chloé, without forgetting about the youthful, fun-loving basics that are the label's bread and butter. McCartney's forte is her ability to glam up casual street clothes. Her fitted jeans and corduroy trousers with zipper pockets, face-stenciled T-shirts and pearl-encrusted draped tops all had an air of insouciant cool to them; so did the faux furs with shaved bits that accommodated clusters of silver flowers."
• It was one of the strongest looks from the show and a true piece of fashion history.
• The longer runway version coat is harder to source. They were only sent to certain stores and were a limited production piece.
• The coat is a 3/4 length and is made from a thick and soft faux fur. The cut is loose and easy and it widens out as it nears the hem for a bit of a swing coat feel.
• It has hidden fur hooks partway down the front and then swings open under that. There is a hook at the top of the collar so you can wear it folded down like how I photoed it for these photos to give it a more loose and easy feel or you can close that top hook so that it wraps around the neck like how it was worn on the runway.
• The sleeves are cut extra long and they are gathered along the inside of the wrist. This gives them a curve so that they follow the curve of the arm and it lets you wear them up a bit so they get that bit of a gathered slouchy feel.
• The inside is lined in a menswear suiting fabric that was one of her signatures.
• There are two zippered pockets in the interior that have little chains attached to the zipper pulls. On the exterior there is a pocket hidden along each hip. It is meant to feel a little big and slouchy once on and I love that.
• The best part about is of course that extraordinary detailing done on the shoulder and collar on the one side of the coat.
• Fine silver metal strips have been applied to the coat to create a series of medallions. Swirling beads and sequins sit over those to create this fantastic design that goes across the top of the arm, under the shoulder at the front, and then runs up and into the collar and around to the back.
• It is just brilliant and an amazing piece of fashion history.
• Fully lined with two interior pockets as described above. It closes with hidden fur hooks at the front. Pockets on each hip. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. It's easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes and just feel more oversized on a smaller frame.

• The twin of this jumpsuit walked the runway for the Spring 2000 Givenchy show. 
• It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen 
• This is a very rare piece as are all of the pieces that he created while at Givenchy.
• Vogue noted that "Most of the collection was made up of tracksuits with high heels" and variations of the distinctive legs used on this jumpsuit were used through out the show. This jumpsuit and some variations of it was shown in several colours making it a key look of the collection. 
• The jumpsuit is made from a black fabric that has an almost utilitarian look to it. Somewhat like a light weight canvas in a way but without being a canvas. It is still light enough that it falls fantastically over the body. 
• This is a piece that shows his strong tailoring background and detailed knowledge of how to cut a piece to best suit a woman's body.
• The shoulders are lightly padded and the sleeve extend out straight to their ends.
• The collar is a nod to a men's suit with a notch above a graceful curve that falls to just above the waist.
• I love the plunge of the front and how it can be adjusted to sit as high or low as you dare. A zipper runs up the centre front and you can zip it higher or lower. 
• The waist is brought in through the seams at the sides with no horizontal line to break the eye. You could cinch it in even further by adding a belt either at the waist or at the hip like they did on the runway. 
• It glides over the hips with a band in the same fabric that sits just on top of the hip for detail and shape.  
• Each pant leg is cut long with a drawstring cuff at its end.This allows you to wear them with a more straight cut or it creates a more harem effect if you bring the drawstring in.
• Pockets on each hip are the perfect finishing detail and are a clever way to add to the jumpsuits shape. I love that it has these slant pockets on each side of the hip to slip your hands into.
• It is a phenomenal McQueen for Givenchy piece and highly collectible.
• The jumpsuit is fully lined in a black silk with ribbon finished edges. It closes with the zipper at the front. Light padding in each shoulder. What appears to be hand done top stitching on the collar. Drawstring with push metal clasps at each cuff. It will fit with a slightly more oversized, cut on a smaller frame.

• This dress is from the McQueen's Fall 2008 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
• This is the actual dress worn by Connie Britton to the 2024 Emmys.
• The Fall 2008 collection was called 'The Girl Who Lived in a Tree' and it was inspired by a combination of his trip to India and a 600 year old elm in his garden.
• The V&A Museum says of this collection: 'McQueen’s Autumn/Winter 2008 collection centered on a fairy tale narrative devised by McQueen about a girl who descends from a tree to marry a prince and then become a queen. It was inspired by a 600-year-old elm tree in the garden of the designer’s Sussex home. At the center of the set stood a giant tree swathed in fabric, inspired by Bulgarian artist Christo, who is renowned for wrapping buildings with material.'
• You can see a similar swooping cut that the final pieces on the runway.
• The dress is made out of a beautiful rich black silk and is cut with a sculptural line combined with that bias cut draping.
• Inside there is a more fitted dress and then the length is created by a long panel of black silk that is attached around the neck line and drapes over the inner dress. 
• The dress is strapless and there is a full built-in cupped and boned corset that holds the dress in place and gives you support. The way that the silk panel is draped over the inner dress allows one side of the inner dress to be seen. 
• The inner dress that shows is elaborately finished in a floral hand embroidery and hand set beads. I took several photos holding the draped panel away from the inner part of the dress so you can see how the beading extends even underneath the panel that lies over top of it.
  
• The silk panel that sits over this beautifully constructed inner bodice falls around you all the way to the floor on one side. On the other side the silk is gathered up so that it drapes down and around you. This is a classic and signature McQueen silhouette and is absolutely stunning once on the body.
• The dress is a beautiful mix of exposing just enough of the shape of the body so you don't lose your shape completely while at the same time it showcases the exceptional tailoring skills that he excelled at and how he could control the draping exactly how he wished it to fall.
• I love how the draping slightly exaggerates the shape of the body. No matter what angle you see this dress from once it is on there is an interesting drape or an elaborate beaded detail.
• Inside an inner black silk lining goes to just above the knee and there is a built in inner corset that is lightly boned and cupped. The corset has its own back zipper to close and then the dress zips to close over that with a hidden set back zipper.

• This is from the Christian Dior Spring 2007 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
• Galliano often used inspiration from his Couture dresses when he looked to creating ready-to-wear pieces and vice versa and we have added a photo of the piece from the couture collection that has similar bead work.
•  The bodice is strapless with an inner boned and cupped corset that holds the dress in place.
• A panel wraps around the very top of the bodice with a double pleat detail running around the very the top edge.
• Under that the dress is wrapped around to overlap itself and on one side there are stitched pleats that open up at about the waist area and then continue to the hem. On the side that wraps under that there are top stitched seams set on angles towards the outer edge of the dress. All of this seamwork and stitching is subtle but adds this very interesting detail when you see it as a whole.
• From there the dress simply skims and drapes over you to the floor. Because of its generous cut through the body it will be easier to fit and is extremely comfortable once on the body. 
• It flares out slightly at the bottom to create a beautiful column over you. It is an incredible feat of patterning. 
• Floral designs made of fabric covered domed bead are mixed with prong set rhinestones. More rhinestones are scattered down the body of the dress to about the hip. These were all added by hand and you can clearly see that on the other side of the dress.
• The dress is unlined and has an inner boned and cupped corset that hooks to close at the side. The dress closes over that with a hidden set zipper. Hand finishes. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This dress is from the Spring 2003 Dior collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
  
• Vogue set of the collection that John Galliano "has rebranded the legendary Parisian house via high-octane couture shows that broach the wilder shores of creativity and are then filtered down to be instantly recognizable ready-to-wear pieces for Christian Dior addicts."
• I love that we have photos of Laetitia Casta wearing a gold version so you can see how spectacular this is on the body.
• To help visualize what this dress looks like on the body in black, we changed Laetitia's dress too black, which gives you a great idea of what the final result will be on.
• The dress is made from a bias cut black silk that has a slight texture to it that is beautiful. It is strapless and has an inner built-in and boned bodice to hold the dress in place around you.
• It's skim over the bus and he has used beautifully curved seaming to shape the dress in words at the waist, and then it curse back out over the hips.
• The back simply circles around to leave the entire upper back and shoulders bare and exposed.
• The skirt falls to the floor in a beautiful line. It is cut to curve over your hips and then flares out dramatically for the lower portion of the skirt. There's actually quite a bit of fabric in a lower skirt, and this allows it to move beautifully around you as you walk and move.
• Adding to the movement that the dress has is an exceptionally high slit that runs up one side all the way to just under the hip. This leaves an incredible amount of bare leg to show. It's just fantastic.
• Besides, that high slit, the star of the show on this dress is that incredible curved cut out that runs from the centre of the bodice on a graceful arc down to the hip.
• Interspersed along that cut out or four bows that are made of the same fabric. Each bow has been tied around the silk that connects the two pieces together.
• I love how there is an open, cut out between each bow all the way down that leaves that unexpected flash of skin.
• And then having a slit meet, the bottom bow at the side is just the perfect tie into it all. When you move and the slit opens and you see the leg everything just feels so perfectly designed in that absolutely perfect Galliano way.
  
• It is a really exceptional dress and is extremely sexy once on the body. 
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk chiffon with a lightly boned inner corset attached inside the bodice. It closes with a combination of a row of tiny silk covered buttons at the back that sit above a hidden set zipper that follows one of the curved seams. The inner corset closes with its own zipper. The bias cut and slight stretch of the fabric gives it some movement. I have given the comfortable range of the measurements while laying flat below.

• The near twin of this dress walked the Fall 2002 runway for Look 50 in the collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• Photos from a Moroccan open air market were projected onto the stagefront and this is what set the tone for the show that season. In the review of the collection that year Vogue commented; 'There was a whiff of far-flung exoticism throughout the collection... almost every outfit got a touch of spice via embroidery, (or) a dusting of sequins. De la Renta ended as always, with a parade of great evening wear... just a thing for midnight at the Medina.'
• The dress has this fabulous almost sculptural feel with is simple cut and that beautiful deep purple silk fabric. It's full coverage keeps it feeling very refined and elegant.
• The silk is a very high quality and feels very smooth to the touch. This fabric choice keeps it fairly light in weight but it still has enough structure to hold that gorgeous shape that you see.
• The neck is a shallow scoop and the bodice is cut to skim over you. The shoulders are shaped but soft and the sleeves are long and slightly taper down to the wrist.
• The waist is brought in through curved vertical seaming and the skirt falls from there to the floor. 
• I love the patchwork panels that are added all the way around the lower hem. These are made up of a variety of embroidered silks and velvets that have the occasional mirrored embellishment worked within the embroidery. These run all the way around the hem and up and into the skirt.
• Underneath the top layer is a vivid pink underskirt with a stiffen hem and ruffle covering over that. I have taken a photo to show you how the very edge of this ruffle peaks out from underneath the outer hem of the skirt for an unexpected shot of vibrant colour.
• The underskirt helps add support and hold the fullness of the skirt. It adds a pretty sense of sweeping skirts as you walk away.
  
• Hidden pockets are set along each hip.
• The dress is fully lined in a vibrant pink silk. It closes with a hidden back set zipper and each sleeve has a hidden set zipper at its cuff. There is a tiny bit of stress to the center and one side seam near the waist at the back. Please see the photo after the label shot. The zipper has a tiny bit of stick when it hits the spot. It otherwise appears to have been worn very little at all.
