I Have a Question
- A very pretty little dress by the Chloe label
- The Fall 2006 collection was designed by the in-house team
- The dress is strapless and gathered across the bodice. The waist nips in under that and then the chiffon of the skirt flares out and is brought back in under the skirt.
- Underneath the edge of the skirt there is a pretty little scalloped ruffle set in three layers so you just see a touch of it peeking out from the edge of the hem.
- Some of the chiffon has been gathered along one side of the waist and then a wide, deeper ivory, panel of fabric wraps around the waist and is brought into a half bow on one side with the ends trailing down.
- An exposed zipper closes it at the back
- The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk
- Tagged a Chloe 36
- I see some shallow marks under each arm and tiny bit of fraying along the edge.

Incredibly Rare Fall 1979 Chloe by Karl Lagerfeld Couture Runway Ivory Chiffon & Lace Dress w pearl Details
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1979 Chloe collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld.
- This is an incredibly rare and very well documented dress from one of the most creative and forward thinking collections that Karl did for the label.
- In the book 'Chloe Catwalk', Vogue was quoted as saying "The clothes that Karl Lagerfeld designs for Chloe are the natural results of the world he creates, and if they sometimes seem to be from other times, it is because those other times have as much reality for him as rain and taxes have for the rest of us. You can love Karl Lagerfeld's clothes, you can hate them. See them once, and you can't forget them." The Japan Times called it "A trend setting collection". The Glasgow Herald said "Karl... takes the Edwardian Gibson Grill as his inspiration; hour glass shapes - curved bosom, tiny waists, swelling hips".
- US vogue also commented that "Women collect Lagerfeld by the piece, not by the wardrobe"
- It is incredibly well documented and an extremely rare piece of Chloe, from an outstanding collection, and exemplary example of the history of the brand under Karl.
- The dress is made from a feather light silk chiffon in a deep ivory. In person, the ivory is a touch deeper than how it photoed here. Onto this are hand applied rows of lace and strings of faux pearls.
- The sleeves are long and they have added fabric built inside the shoulder area to help hold some volume ad the slight cap around the upper arm. They are full all the way down to the wrist where they explode outward with a cuff made out of four layers of the angle edged lace. Circling each wrist, and circling where the sleeve is set into the bodice, are a string of larger size pearls. Smaller size strings of pearls follow the lace that runs down and wraps around the full length of each sleeve.
- The neckline is high and like the cuffs, it is made out of multiple layers of the lace that are stacked on top of each other to create that dramatic ruff around the neck. It wraps over itself at the front and sweeps out to meet one shoulder.
- The bodice is cut to skim over the bust to the dropped waist. Multiple panels that mix the lace and strings of pearls are set diagonally over the bodice and around the back, highlighting the sweep of the collar above.
- The waist is dropped and seamed with a slightly more generous cut. It was not shown with a belt on the runway, but if you wanted to add shape, you certainly could belt it at the natural waist for a more defined silhouette.
- The skirt curves over the hips and it is a gathered all the way around the waist in a series of tiny pleats. These allow the skirt to open up underneath beautifully to help create that hourglass feel that was so prominent in this collection. Four more rows of the lace are set in the same angle all the way down the skirt but without the pearls. It is the perfect added detail and ties the whimsical feel of the entire dress together. A final layer of lace circles the bottom hem.
- At the back, the dress buttons to close with a series of large pearl buttons. These buttons are the largest pearls that we see on the dress and I love that he has used three sizes of pearls for this piece. These are the perfect finishing touch.
- The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk. It closes with the buttons at the back. Hand finishes throughout with most of the inner seams finished completely by hand to couture standards. The lining through the upper body is starting to split in places. I see a couple of minor marks on the outer dress and some of the lace around the upper shoulders and neck line have darkened slightly. There are added panels around part of the inner lining where part of the inner lining was reinforced. Please see the photos after the label shot. These are all mentioned for accuracy but most of the flaws are inside the dress. Given the rarity and importance of this dress it is still considered to be in excellent overall condition.
- There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements below
- Excellent condition with the note above.

Rare Spring 1979 Chloe by Karl Lagerfeld Floral & Stripe Print Silk Dress w Matching Striped Belt
I Have a Question
- After much research I believe this to be from the Spring 1979 Chloe collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Karl Lagerfeld.
- In this collection he moved away from 1940s as his inspiration into the sex appeal of the 1950s, said the book 'Chloe Catwalk'. The silhouettes were based on the hourglass. In that same book there was a very similar floral patterns shown I have included several photos here for you.
- Hand placed gathering emphasizes the hips for many of the pieces in this collection, along with extra emphasis on the waist. Lagerfeld said of the collection to the press "Frivolity is important. I want shape and sensualness."
- The dress is made from one of his signature feather light silks being used during this time period for Chloe. It is screened with a custom print that mixes an ivory, more pastel coral colour and a pale lavender.
- An interesting detail is that the labels are on the side of the dress that I think is the front. The side that has the deep plunge is longer in length at the hem so I believe that should be the back. I have seen other dresses with this label placement from around this time period and when the back is plunged like this, so it is not unusual to see. I have photoed it both ways for you, with the plunge at the back and the front. You could potentially wear the plunge at the front if you don't mind the longer hem at the front much like that Lacroix dress from me that was worn to the Met Gala a couple years ago when they turned it around backwards.
- The sleeves are long and it skims over the bust to the waist. The back plunges into a low V to just above the waist. As mentioned above, it is possible that you could wear it either way around. It is incredibly sexy worn either way.
- The waist is seamed and the dress comes with its original striped screened silk belt that hooks into place around you. The stripes on the belt pick up the stripes that are on the end of each sleeve and circle around the hem.
- The skirt curves over the hips and there is a gathering of the silk for added shape. It falls to the floor with the back cut longer then the front for a slight trained effect. You get the most fantastic movement as you walk.
- The dress is in its original uncut length and is unlined. It closes with a back hand set zipper. Hand finishes throughout. There is a tiny bit of fading at the top of the shoulders and edges of the hems. The entire dress looks to be hand dyed and or screened and it presents perfectly once on as this becomes part of the uniqueness of the pattern. The belt hooks to close.
- Excellent condition with the note above.

Incredible Fall 2001 Chloe by Stella McCartney Faux Fur Runway Look 1 Coat w Bead & Crsytal Detail
I Have a Question
The Stella McCartney era at Chloe has since become extremely collectible. The fall 2001 show was fantastic. This was the opening look for the show and in Vogue's review they specifically mentioned the faux coats that were treated so glamorously with added details saying; "Stella McCartney continued with her exploration of grown-up, couture-inspired silhouettes for Chloé, without forgetting about the youthful, fun-loving basics that are the label's bread and butter. McCartney's forte is her ability to glam up casual street clothes. Her fitted jeans and corduroy trousers with zipper pockets, face-stenciled T-shirts and pearl-encrusted draped tops all had an air of insouciant cool to them; so did the faux furs with shaved bits that accommodated clusters of silver flowers." This was one of the strongest looks from the show and a true piece of fashion history.
The twin of this coat was the opening runway look and was worn by Angela Lindvall. The show had several piece sin this faux fur but this coat is the hardest to find. You will often see the shorter version that was made of this coat or the shrugs or collars but the actual coat is very rare. These had a pretty hefty price tag and not as many were made. They were only sent to certain stores and were a limited production piece. The coat is a 3/4 length and is made from a thick and soft faux fur. The cut is loose and easy and it widens out as it nears the hem for a bit of a swing coat feel. It has hidden fur hooks to close the top part of the front and then swings open under that. There's a hook at the top of the collar so you can wear it folded down like how I photoed it for these photos to give it a more loose and easy feel or you can close that top hook so that it wraps around the neck like how it was worn on the runway. The sleeves are cut extra long and they are gathered along the inside of the wrist. This gives them a curve so that they follow the curve of the arm and it also lets you wear them up a bit so they get that bit of a gathered slouchy feel you see in the runway pics. The inside is lined in a men's wear shooting fabric that she often used. There are two zippered pockets in the interior that have little chains attached to the zipper pulls. On the exterior there is a pocket hidden along each hip. It is meant to feel a little big and slouchy once on and I love that. The best part about is of course that extraordinary detailing done on the shoulder and collar on the one side of the coat. Fine silver metal strips have been applied to the coat to create a series of medallions. Swirling beads and sequins sit over those to create this fantastic design that goes across the top of the arm. under the shoulder at the front and then runs up and into the collar and around to the back. Its just brilliant and an amazing piece of fashion history. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition.
Fully lined with two interior pockets as described above. It closes with hidden fur hooks at the front. Pockets on each hip. Tagged a vintage Chloe 40

Outstanding Spring 2003 Christian Dior by John Galliano Bias Cut Black Silk Chiffon Dress w Lace Details & Sequin Halter
I Have a Question
- This dress is from the Spring 2003 Dior collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
- The twin of this dress was worn by Jennifer Aniston to accept her award at the 2003 Golden Globes.
- This is a dress that was made for the shops on a limited basis. A version with no sequins or lace, was also made that season, but this one with the extra detailing was only produced for a very limited amount of shops or special order.
- The dress is made from a bias cut black silk that has a slight texture to it. This is mixed with a black lace and then the dress has additional sequin and bead detailing.
- The front curves over you and then dips low at the back. You can see in the try on photos that when this is on an actual body it dips lower down the back and on more of a curve. This leaves your entire upper back bare and exposed.
- Two straps extended out from the centre of the bodice and hook into place behind the neck. There is a heavy detailing of beads and sequins that follow the neckline of the dress and then scatter over and down the bodice. Both the straps are finished with a heavy detailing of beads and little black prong set black glass rhinestones. Where the straps attached at the front there is a panel of silk shaped to feel like the ends of a tie. This is made from one piece of silk that has been folded over onto itself and then cut into angles at its ends. It is heavily detailed with a beautiful scalloped pattern created by shiny black sequins and tiny little glass beads.
- The top blouses over the waist and then there is a wide 11" panel of gathered black lace that starts at the waist seam and curves over the top of the hips. The fabric has some stretch so that you can adjust where it sits on you.
- The skirt falls to the floor in a beautiful line. It is cut to curve over your hips and then flares out dramatically for the lower portion of the skirt. A slit runs up the front centre for some leg to show and this combined with the flaring cut creates incredible movement as you move.
- It is a really exceptional dress and is extremely sexy once on the body.
- The bodice is fully lined in a black silk chiffon and the skirt is unlined. It slips on to wear with no closures. In its original length. The bias cut and slight stretch of the fabric gives it some movement. I have given the comfortable range of the measurements while laying flat below. It appears to have worn very little if at all.
- Tagged a vintage Dior US4, GB8, FR36.
- Excellent condition
Bust: to 18.5" flat across from side seam to side seam. The smaller you are through the bust the more the back will drape since the halter holds it in place at the front.
Waist: 12.5-15.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 15.5-19" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 25" from neck to waist but once on the top drapes over the waist seam and it is approximately 15 to 16" from the neck
Total length: 73.5" from neck to hem but once on and the top drapes over it is approximately 63.5" long. There is some play with the length depending on how high you hike the area around the hips.

Gorgeous Fall 2006 John Galliano Weightless Black Silk Chiffon Dress w Sequin & Bead Detailing
I Have a Question
- This is an amazing example of Galliano's work from Fall 2006 collection.
- The dress was made under the creative direction of John Galliano.
- The more elaborately beaded pieces were usually released in more limited quantities.
- It is very similar to a dress that I had in the shop before but this one is more elaborate and much longer. It is a really striking dress that is also very easy to wear because of its simple and bias cut.
- The dress is made from three layers of a feather light black silk chiffon that are all attached to each other at the top of the shoulder and then float over each other from there. The very inside layer is a black silk chiffon with no texture and then the two top layers are a textured silk chiffon.
- The dress has a very loose and easy cut through the body so is very easy to wear and comfortable once on the body.
- The bodice has a draped neckline at the front and it does the same at the back. One shoulder is cut wider across and this is what extends out to form the neckline. The other shoulder is more delicate in feel and it is edged in lace. A small bow sits on the top of the shoulder.
- The bodice on the side with the wider strap is detailed with pintuck that runs vertically down the dress. On the side with the more narrow strap the silk is swept up to one side and held in place with a flat bow and a bit of a ruffle. The ruffle runs down the length of the dress all the way to the hem.
- This creates the illusion that the dress is wrapped around you and the bow is holding it in place. It is very clever.
- A hand set design that combines tiny seed beads and silver sequins details the neckline and are set in little clusters that run down the length of the dress. These give the dress a pretty glint in the light.
- Most of the edges of the dress have a raw finish which adds an extra delicate bit of texture to the dress that is lovely.
- A slit runs up one side so you get a flash of bare leg when you move or sit and it is cut longer at the back so you get this fantastic sweeping feel behind you as move.
- The bias really only comes to life once on. As good as it looks in the photos here it is even better in person and on the body.
- The inner silk chiffon and middle tulle layer act as the lining underneath the top layer. The innermost layer has no closures. The middle layer closes with its own hidden set zipper and the very top layer closes with one of his signature tightly spaced rows of silk covered buttons. Because of the bias cut, it may come up slightly once on. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Extraordinary Spring 2006 Christian Dior by John Galliano Textured Off White Bow Detailed Jacket & Full Skirt Suit
I Have a Question
- This is a stunning off white suit from the Spring 2006 Dior collection
- It was made under the creative direction of John Galliano
- The suit is made from an amazing textile. It is just slightly off of a true white and blends a viscose and cotton mix in a beautiful woven design. The parts that have a slight 3D feel and sit slightly off of the base have an almost raffia feeling finish to it. The parts that have this finish and are slightly raised off of the pattern have a different finish to them and catch the light beautifully. It is really extraordinary. The base fabric is light in weight but has enough structure to allow it to hold its intended shape perfectly.
- The collar is set to go fully across at the front and I love the little half bows that give the collar a notched appearance. These are created by a panel of fabric, extending from the part of the collar that goes around your neck looping through a proper button hole finished slit, and then the ends are tacked down by hand so they sit exactly perfect.. These also pick up on the bows used elsewhere on the jacket.
- The shoulders are softly sloped and rounded and have light padding inside. The sleeves fall to just above the rest, depending on the length of your arms and they are cut on a like curve and have a touch of a flare at their ends. The jacket has three buttons down the front and the buttons are done in what looks to be a beautiful hand-carved mother of pearl with the Dior name engraved onto them. Two smaller versions act as decoration along each cuff of the sleeves.
- The body of the jacket is cut slightly boxy with shape brought in at the waist. Two curving pockets sit on each hip and these are finished much like the ones on the collar with a panel of fabric, extending down and then threw a proper button hole finish slit. The ends of the bows are not tact here so you get a bit of a more 3D feel. These are the second reference to bows that the suit has. At the small of the back the final bow detail is seen with a curved and shaped panel of fabric threaded through two button hole finished slits there. I love the fact that the slits were all of these little bows slip through are all properly finished in traditional tailoring methods.
- The skirt has a very pretty and full cut. It is more shaped around the upper hip and the slightly higher set waist. This gives you beautiful shape. Running along the top edge of the waist and then just under that are a double set of belt loops. This becomes both an added extra design detail and an additional point of interest if you decided to loop either one long belt or two separate belts through them. From the top of the waist it curves down to a low long hip seam and then the skirt flares out quite dramatically to the hem. It is all gathered in around the sea, and then there is an additional seam another few inches down from that that helps give it even more volume. The skirt will sit at about the knee depending on your height.
- Because of the beautiful soft white colour of the set this would make a gorgeous piece to work into a wedding weekend or perhaps even to wear for a courthouse wedding, luncheon or going away outfit.
- Both pieces are lined in an ivory silk and the silk of both pieces has the Dior name embossed throughout. The jacket buttons to closes with three buttons at the front and each cuff has two decorative buttons. The skirt closes with a hidden set back zipper. I see a little bit of marking on the inside back silk of the jacket but of course you do not see it once on. It otherwise appears to have been more very little if at all. The skirt still has its original Dior tag attached shut up.
- Both pieces are tagged at FR40, GB12, IT44, US8
- Excellent condition

I Have a Question
- This is a very pretty Valentino dress from the 2000s and is from the main label.
- It was made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino.
- The dress is made out of a beautiful red silk crepe and then is highlighted with a more matte satin finish in the same red for the contrasting details.
- The dress curves over the shoulders and it is set so that it sits a bit wider across the front.
- The neckline comes down into a V and the fabric on each side of the neckline flips over to form the suggestion of a small collar.
- Starting at the top of the neck on each side are two bands of silk that run vertically side-by-side all the way down the length of the entire dress to the hem. They are split partway up from the hem to create a slit so you get a flash of leg when you walk.
- A small band of the same fabric crosses over those just below the bust and then there are these very pretty and interesting partial bows made out of the same silk. They sit up and off the dress on either side a touch and create a very pretty point of interest.
- Pin tuck seams give some shape around the waist and add a little extra added detailing.
- From there it skims over and past the waist and then curves over the hips. The skirt falls to the floor in a beautiful column of red and flares out quite a bit as it nears the hem.
- The back of the dress is cut slightly longer and has extra fabric built-in so that you have a beautiful bit of a sweep behind you as you walk. I love how the dress falls in the lovely folds that you see in these photos.
- The dress is fully lined in a red silk. It closes with a hidden set back zipper that follows one of the seams at the back to give the appearance that there are no closures. I see a bit of grubbiness along the back hem here and there. It is very minor but mentioned for accuracy.
- There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements listed below.

Extraordinary Spring 2001 Original Valentino Runway Look 73 Sequin Top & Ivory Silk Skirt Set
I Have a Question
- The twin of this gorgeous set walked the runway for the Spring 2001 Valentino show as Look 73.
- It was made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino.
- Vogue said of the show that "Valentino has far too strong of a personal sense of style to let himself go with the trends—don't even dream about pop '80s references here. Instead, he delivered the polished, elegant clothes that his devoted clientele can always expect.... Evening teetered on the decadent, with slender columns and minute, short dresses that dazzled with a shower of sequins in gold and pink—presumably, Valentino's recipe for a night of excess."
- You can see how fantastic this is once it is on the body by the reference runway photo, and video added here.
-
I love that since it is a set instead of a dress, you can mix and match it with things that you already own. The versatility of having two separate pieces is always an added bonus.
- The top is absolutely extraordinary. It is made out of two layers of an ivory silk chiffon that has the most elaborate sequin and bead pattern that completely covers the top layer of silk.
- It is cut like a little tank top with straps extending out from the main body of the top to curve up and over each shoulder. The neckline is scooped at the front and the back. It comes in just slightly at the waist and is just long enough to sit over the top edge of the skirt if you choose to wear it over top of the skirt.
- It is completely and densely covered in an elaborate design made out of hand applied sequins and beads. The sequins are set so densely that they sit up and off of the silk and overlap each other. The tiniest little ivory seed beads are interspersed in between sequins. These completely covers the main portion of the top.
- Curving around each side and over the straps is a fabulous design that mixes tiny seed beads in different shades of ivory and iridescent with tube beads and little clear iridescent beads. These are set to follow the curve around the sides and sweep up and over each shoulder. At the side seam where the back at front parts of the pattern meet there is a row of six dangling pieces that continue the pattern and add a little extra detail.
- The skirt is made out of an ivory silk that has a beautiful structure and is made to hold its shape while still feeling soft and pliable once on the body.
- It has a flat waist with no band to break the eye. From there it curves out and over the hips. I love that it has pockets on each hip. It expands outwards to the floor and becomes quite wide by the time it reaches the hem. It curves around towards the back to fall longer with more fabric built into the back so you get this fantastic sweep behind you.
- The camisole is lined in a ivory silk chiffon. It closes with a hidden set partial side zipper. The skirt is unlined and closes with a back hidden set zipper.
- The skirt is tagged a vintage Valentino 8 and the top a 6
- Excellent condition

Waist: 13.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Total length: 42.5" from waist to front hem in the back extends another 8.5" beyond that. There is 3" turned under the hem but I think you would get a line where the existing hem sits if you let it down.
