I am obsessed with the huge bow that sits at the neck of this early Oscar piece. It is the kind of dramatic finish that his earlier pieces had and that the later ones built upon. The fabric used is a mix of a light textured silk organza - which makes it shockingly light - anchored by a fine silk brocade for the skirt which gives it structure and contrast. Through both of the silks, a fine gold lurex thread has been worked through to highlight the vibrant print and give the entire gown a subtle shimmer. The two patterns that runs over the surface of the dress is fantastic - green and purple create a soft and pretty pattern that is done in two sizes and designs - one on the skirt and another on the top. The upper bodice is cut for pure drama with a billowing cut and balloon sleeves, all topped with that dramatic bow at the neck. The bow is actually made of long attached ties that allow you to styled it how you choose but personally I love it as a full huge bow. The skirt flows to the ground with yards of silk brocade and has some fullness to balance the volume of the top portion. Excellent condition
The dress is lined through the bodice in a cream silk, with the sleeves left unlined. The skirt is lined in a purple silk. The dress closes at the back with a painted metal zipper and hook and eye at the top collar. Each cuff closes with a silk covered button.

Exceptional Spring 2004 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 39 Strapless Pink Silk w Black Embroidery & Beads
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress walked the runway for Look 39 of the Spring 2004 Oscar de la Renta collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta
- In the review of the show Vogue said in part; "It’s virtually impossible not to get swept up in Oscar de la Renta’s confident vision of the luxurious life. The designer played to all of his strengths for spring, showing more of the pretty dresses, chic suits, and slim coats that have made him a touchstone of relaxed, modern elegance....Judging from the cuts and colors of this collection, de la Renta has Palm Beach on his mind." and for the evening pieces it was noted that; "Turning up the volume for evening, de la Renta progressed from a long, cool pour of pink charmeuse, to a giddy yellow satin strapless dress covered in nosegays of silk flowers, to embroidered and embellished showstoppers guaranteed to make it a memorable night—red carpet or not."
- This dress is absolutely dreamy. It is made out of the perfect pale pink silk that has been finished with a combination of black embroidery and black bead work that covers the entire dress.
- The dress is strapless and the neckline has a soft rounded shape to it. The silk is shaped over the bust to give shape and curves. Inside it there is a full built-in corset that is cupped and shaped for support structure.
- All of the panels that make up the dress are set vertically and he has use these to create the shape that you see. As it skims over the bust the panel panels narrow to create the shape through the waist. I love that there is no horizontal line to break the eye or the pattern that covers the dress.
- The skirt is spectacular. Here you see the true genius of Oscar. The panels that start at the top of the bus and narrowed into create the shape of the waist now expand into incredibly wide panels all the way around you. Each is over 30" wide by the time it reaches the hem and there are eight of them in total. This gives the skirt incredible volume that shows best when you move.
- Built in underneath that outer skirt is a second layer of the same silk. That layer has a stiffened edging all the way around it's ham and also is finished with a black chiffon ruffle that peaks out from underneath the top skirt as you move.
- The volume and lightness of the silk allows the skirt to move around you beautifully when you walk or move. When this is on and you are walking the effect that this creates is absolutely gorgeous. You can easily see that in the runway reference video.
- The final perfect detail is the extensive black embroidery and beadwork that covers the dress and highlights its shape and curves. I love how it is done in a deliberate pattern that follows the curves of the bodice and narrows in at the waist, giving the illusion of an even tinier waist.
- Dangling jetted beads circle all around the top edge of the dress and beads are worked through the embroidered pattern on the bodice. More embroidery is applied to each panel so that it circles around the entire skirt. When you move you glimpses of just how beautiful the embroidery is.
- This little extra and pretty detail adds that perfect finishing element of romance and femininity. This is Oscar at his very best and it is a tremendously beautiful dress.
- Fully lined in a pink silk with a full built-in cupped corset inside the bodice. The corset closes with its own zipper and then the dress closes over that with a back set zipper. An inner waist stay hooks to close. The dress appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Gorgeous Pre-Fall 2012 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 53 Soft Pink Silk Dress w Trained Skirt
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress walked the runway as Look 53 for the Pre-Fall 2012 show.
- It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta
- Vogue said of the collection that "For Spring, Oscar de la Renta gave us a refresher course on all the reasons we love him. The taffeta ball skirts! Those handkerchief lace dresses! The embellished gowns! ...Chief among them were a series of dresses, both to the knee and floor-length, cut from crinkled and pleated silk. Whisper-thin and nearly weightless, they're the kind of frock you'll turn to again and again when the weather warms: fabulous, but also easy."
- The twin of the dress was also the choice of the night for Sarah Jessica Parker, who wore one to the amfAR gala that season.
- The dress is made from a lightweight romantic and feminine shade of pink silk. The silk has a slight crinkled texture running through it that has visual interest. The skirt has also been soft pleated so that you see the suggestion of a pleat but it was never intended to be a sharp defined pleat.
- The bodice is simple and easy to wear. The neckline is cut into a rounded curve and there are no sleeves. It has been lately top stitched all the way around in vertical lines, and the slight crinkle texture has been set on an angle. The neckline is made out of the same fabric that has been rolled and twisted into a piping detail.
- It skims over the bodice in an easy fashion and then it is cinched in around the waist by a wide band in the same pink silk. The band is stitched into place and fully built in to add shape and a touch of structure to the soft silhouette.
- The skirt cascades to the floor from there and is cut at different lengths all around you. It comes up at the front, angles down to be longer on each side of the front and then scoops back up at at the sides. The back is then cut in the perfect soft train so that you get a tremendous sweeping feel as you walk away.
- The silk of the skirt is stocked over a second layer of a pale pink, almost weightless silk, and this lets the skirt float over and around the body to give it the feel of airiness and lightness. The lightness of the silk gives it a gorgeous movement when you move and walk. You can easily see this in the runway reference video.
- The dress is fully lined in a matching pink silk and it closes with a back set zipper. The pink is slightly more pastel in person. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Dreamy Spring 2012 Oscar de la Renta Runway Look 47 Nude Pink Feather Dress w Silver Thread Flowers Detailing
I Have a Question
- Due to new customs regulations this dress can only ship to a Canadian address
- The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Spring 2012 show.
- It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta
- On the runway it was styled with a white wrap that sat over the bust and arms and a heavily embellished belt. Once you strip those back and see the dress on its own you realize just how light and pretty the dress is.
- Oscar showed the collection in his new showroom on 42nd street. The space had yet to be fully renovated and this gave the atmosphere a raw edginess and the styling reflected that. Vogue called the evening dresses 'entrance making' and the show felt fresh and new from his work of the past few seasons proceeding this one.
- The dress is made from a pale nude pink silk base covered in netting. Onto this is an extensive floral applique made out of of silver sequins, silver metallic thread and silver lame insets
- The dress is suspended by two little piped silk straps that curve up and over your shoulders. They attached into the peaked fronts of the bodice. Front panels across over each other and then the back has a pretty dip that leaves the upper back bare and exposed.
- It cinches in at the waist and then curves out and over the hips.
- The skirt cascades to the floor from there and is cut slightly longer at the back so that you get a beautiful sweeping feel as you walk away. Onto the skirt is an amazing application of feathers attached onto the top layer of netting. These come up at the front and then widen out to circle all the way around the bottom hem. They curve back upwards at the back. Every feather is stacked and layered over the one underneath. The bottom of the skirt is very full so the combination of the lightness of the silk and netting and the amazing application of feathers create this phenomenal movement when you move.
- The dress is fully lined in a pale pink silk and there is light boning at the sides of the bodice. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

Divine Spring 2010 Oscar de la Renta Bridal Collection Strapless Ruffled Silk Organza, Silk Chiffon & Net Wedding Dress
I Have a Question
- The dress is from the Spring 2010 wedding dress collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
- The twin of the dress was used for the ad campaign that season.
- The gown is made out of a pale ivory that combines silk organza and silk chiffon with a silk netting. The colour is very soft and flattering. The fabric itself is very light in weight and it is only the tremendous amount of fabric in the dress that adds any weight. The lightness of all of those layers allow it to move beautifully around you once on.
- The bodice is strapless with a slight curve over the bust. A pretty double layer ruffle made of silk chiffon starts at the very top and then layers of ruffles continue all the way down the entire dress. Inside the bodice there is a full built-in cupped, wired and lightly boned stretch corset to hold everything in place.
- The layers run horizontally over the bust and waist in beautiful bands of silk chiffon that all overlap each other. The edges of each band are left raw so that it adds a touch of texture. It continues down and around the waist. By the top of the hip panels of silk organza that are caught wider start to be interest first in to the bands.
- The ruffles of the skirt start all the way up at the top of the hip and they continue down horizontally all the way to the hem. As you get lower down the skirt, the bands become wider and they start to mix a silk chiffon with a silk organza. This widening of the ruffles coincides with the widening of the lower skirt.
- I love how the volume increases as you go down the dress to give the lower skirts their massive volume and pretty romantic sweep.
- For the very lowest ruffles there is a white netting done in ruffles underneath circling the very bottom hem. Inside there are wide, weighted hymns with stiffening and this is all a clever way to help. Hold the shape around you when you stand and move.
- The back and sides extend out longer than the front so that the entire dress sweeps around and behind you beautifully.
- As beautiful as it looks in the photos this is a dress that is even better in person once moving and on an actual body.
- I love that they have made the little straps that you hang the dress on a hanger with out of a wite ribbon with the ODLR in a beautiful soft pale blue that instantly gives you a "something blue" already built into the dress.
- There is a full built-in corset that zips with its own zipper and has a inner waist stay that hooks to close. The dress is lined in a silk under that and there is an inner skirt supporting the volume of the skirt. The inner layer of the skirt is finished with stiffening around its hem to help hold the shape and volume. It closes with a back hidden set zipper. I see a bit of grubbiness along the very edge of the inner hem here and there. I think that is just from hitting the floor as it was hung in the past. It is very minor but mentioned for accuracy. The colour is slightly more ivory in person.

Dreamy Pre-Fall 2015 Oscar de la Renta Look 36 Metallic Gold Applique & Ivory Net Dress
I Have a Question
- The twin of this dress was the final look on the runway for the Pre-Fall 2015 collection.
- It was made under the creative direction of Oscar de la Renta.
- Vogue noted in their review "Pre-Fall 2015 was the last collection he (Oscar de la Renta) had a hand in designing. The house's new creative director, Peter Copping, advised the studio a bit on how to finish it after de la Renta's death in October but this wasn't his debut. Copping sat in the front row taking it all in as a bystander." They continue the review saying, "How does one review a collection like this—one that operates not as a swan song, not as an homage, but as a coda to a great career, now definitively over? On its merits, of course. And though these clothes didn't serve to turn the fashion dial in any way, they manifested the soigné de la Renta signature in spades....It spoke loudest in the collection's clutch of cocktail frocks and gowns, particularly the champagne-toned finale gowns with allover gold or silver embellishment."
- This would make an amazing wedding dress for the bride looking for a non-traditional choice or as an alternative dress in a more extended wedding celebration.
- The dress is made from a fine ivory net that is covered in beautiful curving gold metallic appliques that form flowers and pretty patterns over the entire surface of the dress.
- Each individual applique is made from a pale, muted silver-gold lame fabric sewn that is embroidered all the way around its edges. The lame has a slight vertical ribbing that combines the gold and silver thread and this adds a beautiful texture. I love how they catch the light in a subtle way from every angle. In person the dress has a more metallic and gold feel then how it photographed here.
- It sits wide across the front and the straps are set to the edge of the shoulder. The bodice curves up and over your shoulders and then at the back it falls in a V for a bit of bare skin to show. All of the edges follow the curving pattern of the applique and I love this little romantic touch.
- There is an inner lining inside the bodice that has a sweetheart neckline shape to it and then the netting has a touch of transparency above that. It skims over you from there, past the waist to the seam that sits at the top of the hip.
- From there the skirt explodes outwards in two tiers. Underneath each tier is a layer of tulle and then another layer of netting under that. The second layer has a stiffened edge to help hold the shape of the skirting. Inside the skirt there is a built-in underskirt that has multiple rows of that same stiffened fabric so it holds the volume that you see in the photos. I have added no extra crinolines underneath the dress to take these photos. All of the volume that you see is all built into the dress already.
- The dress is cut shorter at the front and then the back is cut so that it trails out behind you past the floor. The lightness of the tulle and netting allows the dress to billow out around you when you walk.
- This is dress that feels like a fairy tale come true once it is on the body.
- The skirt is fully lined in layers of tulle and netting as described above. The bodice has an inner layer of silk and netting. The dress closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have never been worn or worn very little.
