This 90s Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress is absolutely a stunner! Made entirely of silk chiffon is weighs almost nothing so when on feels like a dream! Layers of silk make up the body and in between the outermost and innermost is a layer of nude silk. This gives the body of the dress extra depth and picks up the slight pattern that runs through the top layer of silk. The sleeves and upper shoulder are left semi-sheer and the waist is highlight with a pretty black ribbon. The same ribbon detail sits just above each ruffled area on the sleeve. At the back they dress has an open slit that runs from the back of the neck to the zipper at the waist. The wow factor of this piece is definitely the exorbitant use of ruffles on the sleeves and skirt. When you look closely you see that each ruffle is set and placed by hand! They are set vertically and the resulting effect is amazing! The overlong sleeves and styling are very dramatic and on a real girl will work and present even better then how it has photoed on a mannequin! Excellent condition.
The main body of the dress is made of three fine layers of silk chiffon. Two black layers with a nude one in the middle. It closes with a hidden set low zipper and there is a hook & eye at the back of the neck.

Romantic Fall 2011 Oscar de la Renta Embroidered Lace & Fantasy Tulle Skirt Wedding Dress
I Have a Question
This Oscar de la Renta dress is gorgeous. The Fall 2011 Oscar de la Renta Bridal collection was amazing and this was one of the star looks of the show. His wedding pieces range from about $10000-$20,000 USD with the more elaborate ones like this tending to be in the upper range of that. Oscar launched his first bridal collection in October of 2002 and his wedding pieces have been worn by some of the most famous women in the world. He once said 'In the same manner that she fell in love with that man, I hope she's going to fall in love with that dress.' Countless brides have done just that. This gown is absolutely beautiful and if you are a bride looking for that very full princess feel then this is the ultimate dress for that. It literally takes your breathe away when you see and hold it in person.
The skirt of the dress is magnificent. It is made from many yards of multiple layers of a white tulle silk netting. The strapless bodice above that is a slightly more ivory colour and it is stunning. It is completely covered with tiers of lace and little scalloped silk chiffon rows. I took close ups of the work done there for you to see. The edges of the lace are embroidered and there are tiny curvy rows of ivory iridescent sequins mixed in. If that wasn't enough there are also little rhinestones set in rows over the bodice. The top curves in a pretty sweetheart neckline and it has a full built in hidden corset inside the bodice so you don't have to worry about additional underpinnings. The bust is strapless and fitted across the bodice. It is cut to follow your curves and there are built in hidden cups inside to lift the breasts. It tightly hugs the bodice and then nips in at the waist. The waist is detailed with elaborate appliquéd 'belt' that is made from various faux pearls, silver tube beads and glass cut rhinestones in different shapes. For the runway presentation it was shown with a simple sash and I believe that this was a custom add on. The skirt is extremely full and that beautiful volume would float all around you. There are 12 layers of tulle in the skirt and many of the inner ones have a double hem finish at the bottom. Under all of that there is a silk taffeta inner skirt in a deeper ivory. If you look closely you can see that under the top two layers of tulle the skirt has been gathered up all around in little drapes. This gives it this depth in fullness that is incredible. It's a subtle detail that you can see through those top layers of skirts that is just absolutely genius. I did not add any additional crinolines to the dress for these photos. It has enough built in layers in the skirt already that it falls on its own perfectly. Every angle that you look at this dress from gives you drama and gorgeousness. It is cut longer at the back so that it flows out behind you when you walk. If you wanted even more of a real princes gown feel I think you could have the inner layers starched and you would get even more volume. I love the bareness of the shoulders the strapless silhouette gives you. It is the perfect balance to that full on princess skirt. It is a very stunning gown and is a beautiful example of Oscar's work. Excellent condition with a minor note below
The bodice is boned with padded inner cups for structure and support. The dress closes at the back with a hidden set zipper. Multiple layers of built in tulle and skirting as described above. The hem of the inner skirt is grubby and some of the very inner layers of tulle have some marks at their hems and i see the very occasional small tear near the hem. You see none of these once on. It otherwise looks to have been worn very little if at all. Tagged an ODLR 8 but seems to be cut small
Bust: 16-17" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 12" flat across from side seam to side seam if inner hook is closed 13" if left unhooked or the hooks moved
Hips: open
Bodice: 9" from top of bodice to waist
Skirt: 45" from waist to front hem, 50" to inner back hem and 5*" to the ends of the tulle at the back
Modern Sizing Equivalent: XS-SML maybe a smaller MED

Incredible Fall 1977 Oscar de la Renta Runway Deep Burgundy Metallic Velvet Silk Dress Set
I Have a Question
This beautiful silk chiffon and cut metallic velvet fabric was integral to the Fall 1977 presentation by Oscar de la Renta. The twin of this set walked the runway along with two other versions in this same beautiful fabric. I love that we found these photos because it give you an idea of how beautiful the dress is on the body. The fabric is absolutely stunning and the lines of this drape fantastically. It's also rare to find documentation of pieces this early which makes the set that much better.
This set from Oscar de la Renta has such a rich, luxe feel to it while still having a bit of a bohemian vibe. The colour is this absolutely stunning deep purple burgundy that is beautiful to see in person. This is a set made up of two separate pieces. Having these separate pieces makes it very versatile since you can mix and match them with other pieces in your existing wardrobe. The fabric is stunning. The base is an ultra fine silk chiffon that has a touch of transparency to it. Onto that is a silk velvet that is cut out into a floral and leaf pattern and then infused directly onto the silk. A metallic thread in the same exact colourway was then used to outline and highlight the pattern that runs over the pieces. This touch of metallic detailing lets the pieces catch the light from every angle and adds a bit of a glitz and glam to the set. Both pieces are lined with another layer of the same colour silk chiffon but there's still a stunning play on transparency with the outer fabric. The silk is light in weight and floats beautifully over the body once on. The skirt has a band at the waist for shape and then the silk falls to the floor from there to widen out slightly as it near the hem. The top goes over that and just slips on to wear. The neckline is simple with no collar and has an attached silk braided cord. This allows you to adjust the neckline so that you can wear it loose with a more open V underneath or tie it tight and just have a slit keyhole underneath. Each corded tie ends with a pretty fringed tassel. The body of the top is loose and full. Each sleeve is also full and billows out above an elastic cuff. Each sleeve is finished with another cord and fringed tassel detail. The banded waist already gives shape at the waist when you tuck the top in. You could emphasize that shape even more by adding a belt. It a even more gorgeous in person. And it has pockets on the skirt. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. Excellent condition
Both pieces are lined in a matching silk chiffon including the sleeves. The skirt closes with a side set zipper and a flat hook & eye at the waist. The top slips on to wear with an attached cord at the neckline. The cuffs have elastic at their ends and the cord there is decorative. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

I Have a Question
This dress only has its Gump's department store label but I am pretty certain it is an Oscar de Renta based on pieces I have had in the past. Gump's was based out of San Francisco and they did carry Oscar's work. The dress is priced based on how fabulous the dress is on its own right. It is rare to find such a stunning vintage velvet piece that still feels infinitely wearable and modern.
The dress is almost a caftan feeling piece that you can wear loose and easy or cinch it with a ribbon or belt. The fabric on this one is what takes center stage and it is absolutely beautiful. It is a fused silk velvet on a feather light weight black chiffon. Each little velvet bit of the pattern is edged with a gold eyelash metallic lame that has been pulled through the velvet to create an edge on each individual piece of the pattern. This catches the light from every angle and gives the dress this fantastic bit of a metallic feel. The velvet is this amazing gold toned coral colour that changes shades slightly as it runs over the dress. The pattern is laid out vertically in long curves with just a bit of the black chiffon showing through. It is unlined so you get a glimpse of skin showing through the chiffon parts. It is very light and fluid. To look at it you might think it is heavier but the weight is very light so it moves over you like a dream. The cut is very loose and easy and should fit a range of sizes. It is a simple open shape with a full and wide cut through the body. The fabric is bias cut so there is a lot more room in there then it seems at first glance. The neckline is scooped on both sides with a keyhole and button at the back. Each sleeve ends with elastic and that they are very full above that. It is supermodel long and you can change the shape by adding a ribbon like I did for these shots, or add a more structured belt, or wear it loose and easy so its more like a caftan. It is a great piece that is easy to wear and has lots of impact. It still has its Gump's hang tag and was never worn. Excellent condition
Unlined and slips on to wear with a button & loop at the back of the neck above a small keyhole. The fabric is light and easy to wear. Never worn. The loose cut should work on a range of sizes. I think if you are very tiny you could wear it off the shoulders too. The ribbon is not original to the dress but will be included. It is more a coral in person then the red some shots went to.

Late 1960s Oscar de la Renta Deep Brown Flat Velvet & Brocade Dress w Slit Sleeves & Lace Belt
I Have a Question
The Oscar de La Renta boutique label first appeared in 1967 which makes this dress from one of his very earliest collections for this line. His boutique label is important as is marked the first ready-to-wear line for a Seventh Avenue designer to be launched. These early pieces have lots of hand finishes and are just stunning example of his work during these early days of his career.
I love this dress. It is made out of a gorgeous deep brown velvet that gives it a really beautiful texture. The velvet has a flat pile and there is a bit of a vertical texture worked into it that helps add length when you have it on. It is a really stunning detail. To contrast this and give the dress a touch of a metallic feel Oscar then added a wide silver and gold metal thread panel of ribbon to follow the notched neckline. This panel of fabric runs down each side of the neckline and then circles around the collar. That same metallic fabric is used to cover the edges of the matching belt. The belt is fabulous in its own right. It is cut wide and then peaks where it meets in the middle. To close it, it has a long matching velvet tie that loops through the brass coloured grommets and then laces up as tight as you wish. The fabric of the dress is light in weight so that the dress is very easy to wear. It has long sleeves and each sleeve poufs out over the cuff. The cuffs are done in the same metallic fabric to pick up on the belt and neckline. Each is also slit down the sides so you see part of your arm. Very unusual and very chic once on. The skirt cascades to the floor gently widening out as it nears the hem. And it has pockets. It is really a gorgeous dress and very well made. Excellent condition with a minor note below.
Fully lined in a brown silky rayon. Closes with a back zipper and a hook at the top of the neck. Each cuff snaps to close. The inner back of the belt has stiffened a bit and it was stored folded. This does not effect the front at all but you see the fold lines on the back.
