Important c1970 Oscar de la Renta Ad Campaign Gown

This gown was the one used in the 1970s ad campaign that ran in several of the major magazines that year. The twin of it is also held in the collection at the Goldstein Museum of Design (the last two photos are the ad campaign photo and the collection archive photo respectively). The gown is a masterpiece and I feel that it really is one of the highlights of Oscar's career and talents. It really demonstrates aspects of his work that he touched upon again over the coming decades. Made from one of the best fabrics I have yet to see. The lines of it and design are extraordinary, The full length gown is made of a good weight silk brocade in a deep, charcoal black with the design woven into the fabric in a combination of yellow and silver. The skirt drapes to the ground in a gently widening curve of fabric. The bodice crosses over itself with a band of large rhinestones hand placed on a band of silver bead work to accent. The sleeves are long and each ends in a rich and luxurious sable cuff. The original tie belt cinches in the waist for the perfect refined finish. A real treasure and important piece of fashion history, Excellent, museum quality.

Fully lined in a black silky rayon and closes with back painted metal zipper. Each cuff has a hidden set zipper to close. Hidden side pockets on hips.
