1970s Maurice Bright Fuchsia Pink & Brilliant Turquoise Print Jersey Dress

The Maurice label was a contemporary of labels like Pucci and Leonard in the seventies. Maurice used the same type of prints in his pieces to get the feel of those other brands but his pieces where made with a more affordable synthetic jersey rather then the silk jersey his contemporaries were using. His pieces were still very well made and because they were targeted towards a younger audience they tend to be a little brighter and have a little more fun in the way they are cut. The fabric choice also has the added bonus of making them easy to wear and care for. They  are wash and wear and they travel very well. You can throw it in your suitcase and it is ready to wear the day you unpack. I love the nod to the kimono and caftans of the day in the cut and print of this dress. The bodice is cut so that it crosses over itself to create a V at the bodice. The turquoise follows the V of the neck and below that the waist is highlighted and nipped in with a wide printed band in the same fabric. The fabric for the skirt follows the same wrapped over design from the bodice. It also wraps over itself and is edged with a wide band of the turquoise print. It is open the entire length of the wrapped over edge so you you will get a flash of leg showing when you walk or sit. The sleeves are cut to flare out as they near the ends and they are finished with more of the turquoise. The two bright colours against each other are amazing. Excellent condition with one small note below

Unlined and closes at the back with a painted nylon and metal zipper. The fabric is signed throughout the design. There is one faint mark near the elbow. Please see the photo after the label shot. Otherwise looks to have been worn very little if at all. The lower seam at the waist has no give so the waist measurement is firm. The dress has slight stretch otherwise.

Sleeves: approx 20
Shoulders: no true seam as the shoulders are dropped
Bust: variable as there are no true side seams
Waist: 13.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: to 21" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 13" from neck to top of waist band + 4" band
Skirt: 39" from bottom of waist band to hem

SIZE GUIDE

Please review all measurements carefully. More often than not, vintage garments do not fit any size category exactly. If in doubt, measure a garment of your own that fits and is a similar cut and compare it's measurements to the listed measurements below.
