1960s Silk Oscar De La Renta Museum Piece Dress
The twin of this dress is held in the Fashion Study Collection at the Columbian College of Chicago. It is a very pretty a feminine example of Oscar's early work. It has an almost Victorian feel to it emphasized by both the fabric choice, print and ruffled details. The top is quite fitted with a scooped neck and back. Each sleeve is to the elbow and ends in a darling little ruffle. The skirt is cut so that the outer silk organza layer has a wonderful fullness to it and seems to float over the inner lining. It has two distinct tiers, each edged with a ruffle and distinguished by the differing print. Its very pretty and has an almost "china doll" feel to it - like fine porcelain. Presents as excellent condition
The twin of this dress was exhibited in 2012 as seen in the included photo
Fully lined in a off white silky rayon and closes with a back painted metal zipper. There are faint perspiration stains that are on the interior lining only. It has been specialty cleaned several times but a faint mark remains. It cannot be seen when on but when laid out flat you can see it through the top layer of organza if you look closely. Priced accordingly but it is really an internal flaw that cannot be seen when worn so very minor.
