1940s Tailored Peplum Hip Swing Coat

This is one of those vintage coats that is very understated at first glance but the more you look at it the more you are in awe of the fine workmanship and attention to the small details. I am not 100% pleased with how it photoed as it is so much better in person and really needs a real girl in it to show off how wonderful it sits on a body. Made of a fine wool whose color is an interesting shade of a deep ink blue with an undertone of purple to it. No single detail is meant to stand out but as a whole it is quite stunning. The top is cut almost suit style with large fabric covered buttons and a small neat collar. The waist nips in and it has fantastic side peplums made of fabric layered atop each other The skirt of the coat is cut to appear fairly straight at the front but all those vertical panels of fabric gradually widen as they near the hem so as soon as you move you get the feeling of fullness and swing. The inside silk lining is immaculate and the abundance of seam work is wonderful to see! It is exception and wonderfully made and hand finished! Labeled Peggy Borton. Excellent, appears unworn condition.
