1960s Patrick De Barentzen Couture Dress

A Rare late 1950s, early 1960s, Patrick de Barentzen dress this is an absolute stunner! De Barentzen was an Italian couturier who, in the 50s was an equal to Valentino and Irene Galtzine. Houses like these ruled the Italian couture and demi-couture scene and catered to nobles and the rich. This is an exquisite example of his work and is constructed to couture standards with hand finishes and couture detailing. The exterior is a loose weave chenille yarn and cord. Under this peeks through a cream, heavy grade and high quality silk satin. The neck and cuffs are left with just the cream silk so an almost tuxedo like quality is created. I love the silk satin bow that finished the piece. Pieces like this are why women get addicted to vintage. It is of the highest quality and a joy to see! Excellent condition!

The inner silk satin dress serves as the lining. Exquisite inner finish with hand work. Closes with a double hand set back metal zipper (one on each layer) and buttons with proper finished button holes at the cuffs. There is a faded discoloration on the front bib but thankfully it sits just under the edge of where the black begins. I mention it for accuracy only as it does not distract or show when on.
