I Have a Question
Valentino knows how to cut a dress to perfectly flatter a woman's body. Few designers can come close to the masterful techniques he perfected over the decades of his prolific career. This is an exceptional example of his work and it is very beautiful and striking. It's twin walked the runway for the Spring 2004 show
The dress has that feeling of simplicity that the nineties epitomized and yet, still feels modern and fresh even now. It is made out of layers of a beautiful silk chiffon that is cut on the bias. The bias cut and soft floating feel of the chiffon are used to create beautiful movement through the skirt when you move. It is draped and molded perfectly over the body, skimming over your curves for the most flattering of fits. The color in person is even better then how it photoed and that soft turquoise is very flattering on most skin tones. The bodice of the dress is fabulous. It is set in a series of hand draped panels that are woven together to softly wrap and hug the bodice and down to the waist. This is suspended from a soft chiffon halter that crosses over at the front and then fastens behind the neck. This leaves the back almost completely open and that expanse of skin that is left bare is stunning. The skirt drapes to the floor from the waist and has two layers that are wrapped over each other and scoop up front the hem on a curve. When you walk or sit it lets some keg peak out. The back is slightly trained. It is just stunning on the body. Excellent condition with a small note below
Fully lined in the same silk chiffon through the bust. The skirt is unlined but the panels are two silk chiffon layers each. It closes with a hidden set side zipper. Hand finishes. One small repair at a seam at the back and a couple of tiny repairs along the hem. Tagged a Valentino 8 but please check the actual measurements.

Extraordinary Spring 2001 Original Valentino Runway Look 73 Sequin Top & Ivory Silk Skirt Set
I Have a Question
- The twin of this gorgeous set walked the runway for the Spring 2001 Valentino show as Look 73.
- It was made under the creative direction of the original Mr. Valentino.
- Vogue said of the show that "Valentino has far too strong of a personal sense of style to let himself go with the trends—don't even dream about pop '80s references here. Instead, he delivered the polished, elegant clothes that his devoted clientele can always expect.... Evening teetered on the decadent, with slender columns and minute, short dresses that dazzled with a shower of sequins in gold and pink—presumably, Valentino's recipe for a night of excess."
- You can see how fantastic this is once it is on the body by the reference runway photo, and video added here.
-
I love that since it is a set instead of a dress, you can mix and match it with things that you already own. The versatility of having two separate pieces is always an added bonus.
- The top is absolutely extraordinary. It is made out of two layers of an ivory silk chiffon that has the most elaborate sequin and bead pattern that completely covers the top layer of silk.
- It is cut like a little tank top with straps extending out from the main body of the top to curve up and over each shoulder. The neckline is scooped at the front and the back. It comes in just slightly at the waist and is just long enough to sit over the top edge of the skirt if you choose to wear it over top of the skirt.
- It is completely and densely covered in an elaborate design made out of hand applied sequins and beads. The sequins are set so densely that they sit up and off of the silk and overlap each other. The tiniest little ivory seed beads are interspersed in between sequins. These completely covers the main portion of the top.
- Curving around each side and over the straps is a fabulous design that mixes tiny seed beads in different shades of ivory and iridescent with tube beads and little clear iridescent beads. These are set to follow the curve around the sides and sweep up and over each shoulder. At the side seam where the back at front parts of the pattern meet there is a row of six dangling pieces that continue the pattern and add a little extra detail.
- The skirt is made out of an ivory silk that has a beautiful structure and is made to hold its shape while still feeling soft and pliable once on the body.
- It has a flat waist with no band to break the eye. From there it curves out and over the hips. I love that it has pockets on each hip. It expands outwards to the floor and becomes quite wide by the time it reaches the hem. It curves around towards the back to fall longer with more fabric built into the back so you get this fantastic sweep behind you.
- The camisole is lined in a ivory silk chiffon. It closes with a hidden set partial side zipper. The skirt is unlined and closes with a back hidden set zipper.
- The skirt is tagged a vintage Valentino 8 and the top a 6
- Excellent condition
Camisole
Bust: to 16" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 14.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bottom hem: 15" flat across from side seam to side seam
Total length: 19" from top of shoulders to bottom hem
Skirt
Waist: 13.5" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Total length: 42.5" from waist to front hem in the back extends another 8.5" beyond that. There is 3" turned under the hem but I think you would get a line where the existing hem sits if you let it down.

Well Documented Fall 2018 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Green Velvet Halter Dress w Floral Skirt
I Have a Question
- The near twin of this dress walked the runway as Look 65 for the Fall 2018 Valentino season.
- It was made under the creative direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli.
- The entire world was in love with Pierpaolo and this collection was raved about. Vogue opened their review saying "Something is going very right at Valentino. It would be hard to name another designer in the establishment echelons of fashion who is putting out a more inclusive, relatable, and unforced sense of modern elegance than Pierpaolo Piccioli. They continued saying "How to put it? Where so many other designers have sought to meet these fraught times with throwbacks to ’80s-power-woman shoulder-padded templates, Piccioli has found a new cadence of expression. It includes flowing lines, flowers, layers, scalloped edges, and a vibrant, sophisticated colour sense. For evening, there was a wealth of options to cover all occasions, according to the person a woman might be. It might mean flowing, completely covered-up gowns or ankle-length A-line tunics with slim trousers beneath... Piccioli handled both minimalism, in spare, dramatic shapes, and decorative embellishment in blown-up floral appliques and jacquard... It recognized dignity and delighted in amazing colour. Bravo, Piccioli. This was outstanding."
- I love that I have the runway photos and a reference video for you because they show how beautiful the dress is once on the body and moving.
- It was worn on several red carpets and shot for various editorials that season. It is one of the best from a show that was filled with outstanding dresses.
- The halter of the dress is made from a deep forest green velvet and then the skirt is a silk brocade that has a beautiful floral pattern worked over its entire surface. The black portions of the print in the skirt are a finely ribbed velvet that has an almost ultra fine ribbed corduroy finish to it. You can feel the added texture of the black parts of the print and it makes the print that much better.
- The top is made from two simple triangles in a deep green velvet. They extend out from the waist into two long straps at the top that curve behind your neck, cross over themselves at the back, and then button and snap into place on either side of the little bit of velvet that curves around the sides and into the low back.
- The halter front and tiny straps leave your sides and your entire back bare. It is the perfect balance between the dress feeling romantic and being very sexy.
- The skirt is remarkable. It is set in around the waist in a series of tiny gathers and there is an internal stiffening around the waist to hold the shape.
- The back of the dress has extra fullness built in and it is cut a touch longer so you get this beautiful sweeping feel behind you that just adds to the overall glamorous feel of the dress.
- It is incredibly beautiful. And it has pockets.
- The halter is backed with silk and the skirt is unlined. The straps button into place and the dress closes with a low hidden set back zipper at the waist. Ribbon edged finished inner hems. Some minor grubbiness here and there at the edge of the hem and perhaps the tiniest snag here and there on the skirt. These are minor, but mentioned for accuracy.
- There is no size tag present so please go buy the measurements listed below
- Excellent condition
Bust: each halter is approx 8.5" across from side to side

Prettiest Resort 2009 Valentino by Alessandra Facchinetti Look 16 Palest Dusty Green Silk Organza Dress
I Have a Question
- The twin of this gorgeous dress was presented for the Resort 2009 collection for Look 16.
- It was made under the creative direction of Alessandra Facchinetti
- Vogue noted that it was her third Valentino collection and for this one she "sketched a portrait of a lady in soft hues - pearl grey, icy white, and blush pink - punctuated, with pops of chartreuse and a rich fuchsia... Ruffles found their most elegant expression in organza gowns. Smartly paired with metallic flats these embrace the bodice before walking into the floor". There were three gowns presented in this similar cut - one in black, one in this dusty pastel gray green, and one in a white. This was the more elaborate of the three.
- Its twin with a wide belt added around the waist was worn by Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, and I love that those reference photos and the presentation reference photo lets you see just how beautifully this one is on the body and how it moves.
- The dress is made out of a pale pastel green silk organza that is cut to be more fitted around the bodice and then flows in a cascade of ruffles over the skirt. The fabric choice keeps the dress light in weight and gives it beautiful movement.
- The entire top portion of the dress is gathered in from the shoulders down and into the waist on curves that angle towards the centre. The straps are a touch wider as they curve over the shoulder and it comes in at the waist. The gathering and draping over the bodice is beautiful and detailed.
- Edging the front neckline is a series of little raw edged bows that are held in place by a heavy application of hand applied beads, stones, rhinestones, sequins and metal thread. This follows the neckline all the way down to where it crosses and insert into the waist. There is a modesty panel that keeps it from being too low. If you did wish to have this have a full plunging feel it would be easy to have that adjusted to follow the V of the neck line.
- The skirt falls from under there and it is a little masterpiece of panelling and drape.
- The front is a lighter almost silk jersey and it is heavily gathered at the centre of the waist to fall and expand ot as it near the floor. A matching panel runs down the centre of the back that is not as tightly gathered as the one at the front.
- The sides panels of the skirt are made of the organza and there are added panels of organza layered onto that to create those giant ruffles that you see falling down each side and around to the back. These fall all the way down to the hem and create that beautiful structure that you see in the photos.
- Because the organza is so light in weight when you move, everything moves around you beautifully.
- This is an extraordinarily beautiful dress and I love its added provenance with its royal tie in.
- The dress is fully lined in a matching silk chiffon. The skirt has an additional two layers of silk chiffon under the top layer and these act as the lining. I see a tiny repair near where one ruffle is stitched to the side, but it's on the underneath so does not show. The dress closes with a hidden set side zipper.
- There is no size tag present so please go by the measurements below.
- Excellent condition
Bust: to 18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 14" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: to 19" flat across from side seam to side seam

Spring 2004 Valentino by the Original Mr. Valentino Black Pleated Bodice & Ruffle Skirt Dress
I Have a Question
- This dress is from the Spring 2004 Valentino collection
- It was made under the creative direction of the original, Mr. Valentino
- We have included some photos from the Spring 2004 Valentino collection of dresses with similar elements to this one. This is a dress that was produced for the shops and it is absolutely gorgeous.
- The dress is made out of a feather light black silk chiffon and the lightness of this fabric choice creates a soft and romantic feel as it floats over your body.
- The entire dress is cut to allow it to drape beautifully over the body and highlight your curves.
- The bodice is finished with tiny and precise pleats that wrap all the way around to the back. The top of the bodice is gathered into a sweetheart and the back sits on a slight curve to leave the upper back bare and exposed.
- A ruffled panel of black silk chiffon is set along straps that are meant to sit off the shoulder. Once this is on a body, it will sit around the upper arm. I think, depending on the space between the shoulder and bodice you might also be able to wear this on the top of the shoulder.
- The waist is cinched and seamed to follow the curve of the body.
- From there it curves out and over the hips and the panels of chiffon that make up the skirt float around you as the skirt falls to the floor.
- The skirt is a little masterpiece in its own right. It is actually made of a series of panels that are all set in around the waist. They are attached together to just under the hip and sat in a way so that they overlap each other as they fall to the floor.
- Each panel is a long rectangle that widen out to their curved ends. Each of the individual panels are finished with a ruffle of a matching black silk chiffon that runs all the way around the entire panel. I love how the ruffle is smaller near the top of the hip and then also widen out as it circles around the bottom of each panel.
- The panels overlap each other as they curve around you but there is no inner lining. It is the overlapping and the multiple layers of the panels that make it opaque enough to wear. Besides making it wearable, the separation of the panels once they get past the hip area is what allows the extraordinary amount of movement that the skirt has when you move.
- The silk chiffon that was used is feather light and the dress is a dream in person.
- The dress is fully lined in a black silk chiffon through the bodice and the skirt is constructed as described above. It closes with a hidden set side zipper. It is in its original uncut length. I see a tiny repair near the hem and along the hem. Both extremely minor. It otherwise.appears to have been worn very little if at all.
- Tagged a vintage Valentino 6
- Excellent condition.

Spring 2018 Valentino by Pierpaolo Piccioli Pink Silk Organza Dress w Rhinestones & Metallic Silver Appliques
I Have a Question
- The dress is from the Spring 2018 Valentino collection.
- It was made under the Creative Direction of Pierpaolo Piccioli
- This was a red carpet favourite and its twin was seen on both Nicole Kidman and Nicky Hilton It is a beautiful example of how wonderful Pierpaolo could cut a dress.
- Over the course of his time at Valentino Pierpaolo did several variations of these elaborate ruffled and embellished dresses in different fabrications and each is beautiful. The cut of the dress makes it easy to wear and it is very flattering once on the body. It has a beautifully feminine feel and is very striking with the addition of the ruffles. The pink is infinitely gorgeous on almost every skin tone.
- The dress is fabulous and is even better in person than how it photoed here.
- It is made from a pink silk organza mixed with panels of lace set in a chevron pattern that runs down the bodice and top of the skirt on both the back and the front. These fabric choices keeps it light in weight but still give it enough structure to hold that gorgeous shape that you see.
- The neck is cut high with a band of lace running around the neck. A little ruffle of organza runs around the bottom of the collar and this sets the tone for the rest of the dress.
- A ruffle details the top of each shoulder, the end of the cuffs, and then more ruffles are set throughout the dress and around the hem.
- The bodice is cut to skim over you and I love the bit of play on transparency with the very top of the bodice and the sleeves with them being babe can you see if you can get them in yeah I like that a lot! I actually didn't even know that. I think that would do well. a single layer of the organza. The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are long and slightly taper down to a ruffled wrist.
- The waist is detailed with more ruffles and is cut slightly on the more generous size. This is a signature cut for him and makes the dress very easy and flattering to wear.
- The skirt falls from there to the floor. It is wonderfully full and extremely elaborate. Chevron panels of lace detail the top portion of the skirt and then panels of organza continue down set on angles for the full length of the skirt. Every second panel of organza has a ruffle peeking out from underneath. The skirt is very wide by the time it reaches the hem and it has wonderful movement.
- Over the entire dress is an absolutely gorgeous mix of hand set rectangular silver metallic sequins that are set vertically over the dress. These are mixed with hand set pronged rhinestones that follow the design of the dress. On the sleeves they are set in vertical rows and then throughout the dress they are set in angled rows to follow the chevron design of the lace and organza.
- This was a special order piece and very few were made.
- The dress is fully lined in a pink silk. It closes with a hidden back set zipper and buttons at the back of the neck. Each sleeve has a button at the wrist. It is in its original uncut length. It has its original tags attached and was never worn.
