By the seventies and eighties he was experimenting with volume and proportions and new fabrics that at the time were all cutting edge. This is a stunning example of his work during the mid-seventies. When researching we found several examples of dresses from 1973 that utilized the same jagged flame pattern and sequins against silk chiffon. This one actually looks like a sleeveless version of the one shot on Marisa Berenson. This is a label that I really love and am always happy to find pieces from.

This is a gorgeous dress. It is really one that will come to life even more once on an actual body and I hope the photos convey enough of how fabulous it is because when worn this one will be even better. The entire body of the dress is covered with densely applied black sequins and these catch the light from every angle. This covers you from that jagged design on the bodice down and over the hips. The sequins extend right from the flame design at the front and then are set in long vertical rows to the hem. The top of the bodice is a single layer of black silk chiffon. This bit of transparency  adds an incredibly sexy feel. He used that same silk chiffon down the back where it dips into a low scoop. I love the way that the jagged flame pattern defines the bust and that low scoop at the back. A high slit up one side lets you have the perfect flash of skin when you walk or sit. It is fabulous once on an actual body. Excellent condition

By the seventies and eighties he was experimenting with volume and proportions and new fabrics that at the time were all cutting edge. This is a stunning example of his work during the mid-seventies. When researching we found several examples of dresses from 1973 that combined the same jagged flame cuts with sequins. I have included some of those so you can get an idea of how great this looks on the body. 

This is a gorgeous dress and it is a dress that will really come to life once on an actual body. The body of the dress is covered with densely applied black sequins. They make the dress shimmer beautifully as they catch the light. The sequins start at the shoulder run down the sleeves, over the bodice, waist and hips and then stop about mid-thigh depending on your height. The skirt is set into the sequins in pointed angled that reflects the points of the hem. The skirt part is made from 12 individual panels that are set side by side all the way around. Each panel is a single layer of black silk chiffon that is incredibly light in weight. When you move they move around you. Each panel has only been attached at the top so you also get glimpses of your legs between each panel as you move. It is incredibly sexy. The same silk chiffon is set into the upper bodice and then the back has a huge cut out that is filled with the silk chiffon that dips into a low scoop. It buttons down the back can you see a hint of skin between each button. I love the pointed finished all around the scoop at the back. It is fantastic once on. Excellent condition

Fully lined through the body in a black silk. It closes with buttons down the back and each sleeve has a zipper at the wrist. One of his signature strapless bras is attached inside the bodice which could be easily removed if you wish.

Sophia Loren wore a green version of this dress to Cannes in 1989. Hers had a different neckline that met at the front where this one comes out at the side ps of the bodice so you get a cleaner feel. I absolutely love the cut of this dress. It is made out of a beautiful iridescent silk taffeta in a deep peach with coral undertones. The choice of this silk gives it enough structure to hold the shape but still keeps it fairly light in weight. That fabric choice mixed with that full on glamorous  cut that it has gives it feeling of high drama. The bodice is cut to hug the torso and the neckline is cut so that it is scooped in a sweetheart neckline at the front and then another scoop sits at the back. The sleeves are amazing. They are cut to wrap around your shoulders. Each extends out from the back and then wraps around the top of the shoulder before sweeping back in to be secured at the sides of the bust line. They are so pretty. You can adjust them a bit once on to wear more up on the shoulder or leave them draped more around the upper arm to leave a bare expanse of skin to show across the top of the shoulders. The bodice is intricately gathered and it angles down a touch where it meets the skirt. The skirt is very full. It flows to the floor in a massive cascade of the silk. There are no additional underskirts added for these shots. All of that incredible volume is built into the skirt. I love the rosettes that gather and pick up the skirt all the way around. It makes it so incredibly romantic in feel. The front is scooped up and the back is cut longer for a bit of a sweep behind you. It is gorgeous. A cluster of flowers sits at one side of the waist for the final perfect romantic touch. Excellent condition.

Fully lined in a hand set matching silk and closes with a back zipper. Inside the bust there is one of his signature strapless bras tacked into place. Hand finises. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

It was a label that defined sexiness and had a certain French flare that women world-wide loved. This is a stunning example of his work during the early seventies. We have had several examples of dresses from in and around 1973 that combined the same jagged 'flame' cuts with sequins. I have included some of those for you to see here. 

This is an amazing Azzaro. The skirt is made out of a black silk jersey that is cut on the bias and and falls to the floor. It widens out a touch as it near the hem. Topping this is the most amazing bodice. It is made from curving panels of sequins and the panels have been stitched and overlapped to create the shape that you see. When you realize that this all had to be pieced together in an exact way to create this, it seems that much more amazing. Panels covered in gold sequins extend up to wrap around the back of the neck. Those are covered by two panels of black sequins  at the front and then there is another black sequin panel on each side. The panels are stitched together to the waist so that they are one solid piece forming the bodice but where they hit the waist seam they fall freely beside each other. This is what gives the suggestion of the 'flame' feel. They extend past the waist seam by between eight and 9 inches adding some movement. The back scoops down so your entire upper back is left bare and exposed. Lots of hand finishes inside. It is a fantastic example of his work. Excellent condition.

He became know for his extravagant use of colour, beading, sequins and avant garde ways of defining the body. Some of the most beautiful women in the world wore his clothing including Marisa Berenson, Raquel Welch, Jane Birkin, Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot and Tina Turner. It was a label that defined sexiness and had a certain French flare that women world-wide loved. By the eighties he was experimenting with volume and proportions and new cutting edge fabrics. This is a wonderful example of his work during this time period. We found a reference photo of an Azzaro dress with a very similar shoulder treatment and I think this one is even better.

This dress is nothing short of a bold and dramatic statement piece. The bodice is hand draped into soft rounded gathers over the bust. They continue all the way down under the bust to follow the curve of the body all the way to just below the hips. For this part of the dress he used a black stretch jersey that gives the dress it's fitted shape but also keeps it comfortable to wear. Inside the dress is one of his signature strapless underwire bras and this has been sewn into the dress for added support and shape. The top edge is shaped into a low sweetheart curve and the gathers are set to run horizontally down the body. Hand set vertical seams are tacked into place at points all the way around you to give the gathers a slight scooped feel and add length to offset the horizontal lines. It also keeps the gathers from adding bulk. Under that the skirt is set low and i is made out of a black textured silk that has a metallic finish. This is set over several layers of built in under skirting to help give and hold the volume you see in the skirt. On each outer side the panels of the skirt slightly lift up and away from the dress. To tie this into the top, the same fabric and swooping line is used to create that sweep of fabric on the one side of the bodice. I love how this flares out up and over the front portion of the shoulder. It is fabulous. Excellent condition.

Fully lined in a black silk with a built in bra though the bodice that hooks to close separately. It closes at the back with a painted metal and nylon zipper. The interior bodice is boned. Layers of tulle and silk underskirts under the low set skirt. The flame/fan detailing on the bodice has wire inside to hold it up. It would be easy to add additional wire or stiffening inside if you wanted it to really hold even taller then it does now. Hand finished throughout

  This is an incredible cape that dates to the 1970s
• It made under the creative direction of the original Loris Azzaro
• This cape is a piece that is completely over the top and meant to be the ultimate fantasy cape with its extravagant use of fabric and volume.
• The cape is made out of an ivory silk taffeta. This keeps it extremely light and weight and the slightest bit of air allows it to puff out and billow out around you as you move. 
  
• It has an amazing very large oversized hood that ties at the front with the long wide that are attached on either side. The ties are long enough that you can style them in many ways. You can wear them simply trailing down the front, or wear them tied in a large bow as I have shown here.
• The front cape falls to the floor in length and then the back sweeps out behind you to form a train. That excessively long back combined with the oversized hood is just phenomenal.
• This almost certainly was a custom-made piece for a bride. It is one of those unicorn pieces that you only find in vintage.
• The drama this would create as a topper for the evening or as a piece worn by a bride is not to be underestimated. 
• The cape is unlined and slips over the shoulders to wear with ties at the front. I see some light marks and water stains here and there. They were all faint and really not a great impact. It is priced accordingly and mentioned for accuracy.
• There is no size tag present but the easy and open cut should fit any size

• This set dates to the late 1970s and it was made under the Creative Direction of Oscar de la Renta.
• These sets were easy to wear and ones like this one where made to cover a variety of occasions from casual entertaining to being used for less formal evening wear. It is a classic and easy feeling piece that still feels fresh and fabulous now. It is very rare to find the full set.
• In the late seventies and into the eighties this caftan/tunic and pant look was at an all time high and many of the top designers of the day designed options for their clients who wanted the look but still wanted to wear their favourite brand name. This one is a great example of that.
• Oscar was a master with cut and colour and this set has both.
• Both pieces are made out of a fine silk that has a secondary floral pattern woven through the silk. Onto that is a design done in a matching silk cording.
• The tunic completely unbuttons down the front so you can wear it layered over other pieces to act as an ultra light evening coat. It is perfect to be worn as a chic day or evening dress if you dare to wear it alone with the high front slit. And of course it perfectly pops over the matching pants for a chic evening pajama feel.
• The silk is feather light and this lets it flows around you when you move or the slightest breeze hits it.
• For added detail he used a matching coral cord embroidery to edge the neck and then run down the front. There is more cording at each cuff.
• The tunic has long sleeves that taper down to the wrist slightly. The shoulders have a very light padding for shape and then it falls from there over the body widening out gently as it nears the hem. When you are standing still it settles perfectly about you but when you move you really get the sense of movement because of the slit at the front.
• The pants have wide straight legs and an easy fit around the hip. The waist has a small band in the same silk.
  
• Unlined and the tunic buttons down the front and has decorative buttons at each cuff. Light padding in the shoulders. The easy cut should allow it to fit a range of sizes. The colour has a slightly more pastel feel in person. There is one mark on the pant that is up toward the hip, so completely hidden when the tunic is worn over it. • This is a very rare dress from the 1970s created by Holly Harp.
• Harp opened a shop LA in 1968 where she created custom clothing under the Holly's Harp label. When she started designing her clothing she tended to create her clothing out of a hodge-podge of new and old materials but once she opened her shop her designs became more slinky, and sexy. They began to reference the glamour of Old Hollywood and she preferred the bias cut feel of the 1930s.
• She had a huge following of Hollywood and Music stars; Liza Minelli, Diana Ross, Ali McGraw, Sally Field, Janis Joplin and Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane were all fans.
• This is a phenomenal dress from the early - mid 1970s and it is even better in person. The bias cut really needs a body in it to truly come to life.
• Dresses like this from her are impossible to find anymore. Her work is magical.
• The dress is made out of a bias cut black jersey that is light enough so that it drapes fantastically but also has enough weight so that it is opaque.
• The combination of the fabric and cut make it very easy and comfortable to wear.
• The shoulders are soft and the sleeves are set into the body of the dress starting off wide and then they narrow to a cuff at the wrist. This lets the fabric puff out slightly above each cuff.
• The neckline crosses over itself at the front and has long attached ties which tie around the waist for shape and to hold that front V perfectly in place.
• The dress skims over you all the way down the body to a low set seam under the waist. The dress ties at the waist and then that seam sits at the top of the hip.
• The skirt is fantastic and it is made out of two layers of the black jersey. This gives it the weight to fall in a smooth column when you stand still but also explodes with movement when you move. When you move it all moves around you and the lightness of the fabric makes it all feel incredibly easy on.
• The bodice has a second layer of the same fabric acting as the lining and the skirt is made of two layers of the jersey. It slips on to wear and crosses over itself at the front and ties. The fabric does have some stretch and I have put the comfortable range below.

• The dress dates to the 1970s and this is one of those things that you will only ever find in vintage. It is a remarkable vintage piece.
• It was made under the creative direction of Roland Klein.
• One of Klien's greatest claimed to fame was that he was one of the handful of designers that worked with Princess Diana.
• The dress is made out of a bright metallic silver lame that has a touch of structure that allows it to hold both its shape and those amazing pleats that run over the entire dress.
• The front part of the bodice is done in a series of angled knife pleating. This is shaped to have the feeling and shape of a fan on each side from shoulder to waist. In between the two side sides it plunges all the way to the waist and a small panel of the silver fabric covers the seam where the two panels meet at the waist.
• Underneath the outer panels of fabric are simple triangle shaped inner halters that keep you covered and holds everything in place. Ties extend out from the top to tie behind the neck.
• With only the two triangles at the front of the dress the entire back is subsequently left completely open and bare.
• The waist has elastic all the way around so it is incredibly easy to fit and very comfortable to wear.
• Under that is the skirt and the skirt is equally as phenomenal as the top. It is knife pleated into sharp pleats that run from the waist to the hem. There is an incredible amount of fabric in the skirt and when you lay out flat, it is more than a full circle around. This allows the skirt to flare out as it reaches the hem and really balance out the bodice.
• The fabric is ultra light in weight and between that and the pleats this has fantastic movement once it is on the body and you are moving.
• The dress is unlined and slips on wear with an elastic waist. It ties behind the back of the neck. The easy fit should allow it to work on a range of sizes. I see one tiny pinhole in a pleat on the skirt. 
• Excellent condition

• The twin of this dress walked the runway for the Fall 1979 collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Roy Halston.
• I have seen this dress made in only three colour ways to date and with this one have now had all three on the shop; this deep green, gold and brown version, a blue and gold, and a version that has a lighter green and gold combination. 
  
• The dress is from his main couture line and these would have been made-to-order in his workshop during this time period.
• Halston defined how woman dressed in the 1970s and his dresses in particular were tremendously flattering to the body.
• This is an amazing couture Halston dress and a very rare and special find.
  
• It is feather light and you are barely conscious of wearing anything. The fabric is a very fine light gold, light brown and green silk lurex lame that moves and drapes beautifully.
• It is entirely cut on the bias above and below the elastic waist and utilizes his signature minimal seaming. 
• The neckline is scooped and there is a little keyhole at the back below the hook there. The sleeves extend out from the waist with no seam around the arm and then they narrow down to their ends. This leaves the bodice loose and generous over you.
• There is elastic set around the waist so it is very easy to fit. The dress also comes with its original matching tie belt in the same fabric. The belt is shaped more like a cummerbund with a wider panel that extends into smaller ties on each side. This lets you wrap and shape it around you and cinch in the waist much as you wish. You can leave the ties at the front or the back.
• The skirt falls from there and slightly widens out as it nears the hem and there are pockets on each hip.
• This is a rare example of Halston at his very best and is a rare example of when he chose to use a print over a solid colour.
• The is unlined and slips on with an elastic waist. It hooks at the back of the neck above a keyhole. It comes with its original belt and is hand finished throughout. Its easy fit should allow it to work for range of sizing.
