• This dress is from the Spring 2007 Alexander McQueen collection.
• It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
• This is the all black production version dress of the printed dress that walked the runway for that collection.
• Elle Fanning wore is twin in 2022 and I love having the photos and video so you can see how phenomenal this is once on and moving.
• We have also added the video of the printed version so you can see more of how this moves once it is on the body.
• The dress is made out of a black on black patterned bias cut silk. The print is worked directly into the silk with a thatched feeling background and then there are flowers that are worked over the entire dress. I love how this picks the light up and really adds texture and movement to the dress once it is on.
• A ruffle follows the neckline and extends out over top of the tiny cap sleeve on that side. The other side is caught up with a little half bow at the front and then the strap gets thinner and curves over to attach into the back. I love how this creates a scoop at the front and the back.
• Once it is on an actual body it sits wider across and more like the photos of the one on Elle and of the runway version. My dress form has no chest so it sits lower than it will on an actual body.
• It skims over the bust, waist and hips in a beautiful bias cut that lets it fall over you and accentuate your curves.
• The skirt is phenomenal. He has set it into the dress in a series of upward curving peaks and then each peak tops a panel of silk that widens out substantially by the hem. This is what gives the dress its amazing movement and the phenomenal sweep of the lower skirt.
• There are yards and yards of silk making up that lower skirt. As you move you get a bit of trailing effect of the back skirt behind you. 
  
• This is a very rare and very special McQueen piece and really shows you the extent of his masterful seam-work and how he could handle a bias cut piece as easily as his highly tailored pieces.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk up to where the skirt attaches and then the lower skirt is unlined. It slips on to wear with no closures. The bias cut will allow it to fit a range of sizes and I have put the comfortable range below. It is in its original uncut length and appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• The dress is made from layers of an off-white ivory silk chiffon that floats beautifully over the body. 
• Tiny adjustable straps curve up and over your shoulder to connect at the sides of the bodice and back. You would have the option to tuck the straps in and wear this as a strapless dress if you wished.
• The bodice is cupped and inside there are wired inner cups to hold the shape and give you structure and support.
• Onto the bodice is a beautiful and elaborate design made out of a braided silver thread, silver tube beads, and prong set rhinestones and beads in various sizes. These are set over the bodice to form a design of leafs and vines that swirl deep into each side. 
• The silk chiffon falls from under there and flows all the way down to the floor. The movement the silk chiffon has is incredible. The fabric is very light in weight so that when you move it swirls around you.
• There are extra panels of the silk chiffon attached along the upper edge of the back. these fold inwards from the sides and i love how to silk is swept slight towards them. These fall to the floor to give a beautiful caped feel to the back. 
• It is a very striking and romantic feeling dress. 
• The dress is fully lined in an ivory silk and closes with a back hidden set zipper. There is a built-in inner corset that is boned and cupped. I see a tiny repair near the hem of the skirt and there is a little bit of very minor pulling here and there.

• The twin of this dress was featured in the Spring 2012 collection Lookbook sent out to select retailers. 
• It was made under the creative direction of Sarah Burton.
• Lace was one of the primary fabrics that Sarah Burton used for the Spring 2012 collection and Vogue reported that "She based her collection on the three Gs: Grès for the pleating and draping, Gaudí for the architecture, and Gaia for the sense of all-encompassing oceanic life that infused the clothes, like the outfits composed of coral or shells." 
• Pink wore its twin for an editorial shoot and Du Juan wore one on the red carpet.
• We have had a gold version in the shop before and I'm very pleased to have found this black one that matches the Lookbook and red carpets that it's twins appeared on.
• The dress is made out of a black lace that tops a pale nude silk underneath.
• The neckline is a scooped and the bodice is shaped to flow over your curves. The waist is a touch on the more easy side and you could easily add a wide corset belt to get the effect you see in the reference photos and really cinch it in.
• It curves over the hips to about the knee and then the lower skirts explodes out from there.
• Insets of the same lace with a layers of silk organza underskirts are set all the way around. If you lay the lower skirt out flat it has more volume than a full circle. This is what creates that incredibly full effect and the volume that the skirt has. We did not add any additional underskirts for these photos, all of that beautiful sweeping volume is all built-in.
• The back is cut slightly longer then the front so you get this beautiful sweeping effect behind you as you walk. 
• This dress is Sarah at her best and a highly collectible piece.
• The dress is fully lined in a pale nude silk through the body of the dress and then silk organza is set under the lower skirts. It closes with a hidden set back zipper. It appears to have been worn very little if at all.

• This is an outstanding production dress from the Fall 2010 collection. 
• It was made under the creative direction of Alexander McQueen.
• At first glance it feels very much in line with what he was doing for 2007 with his castle /fairy prints. For this collection he visited upon graphic black and grey-scale prints once again. We did find a photo from the 2010 look book that shows a shorter similar version of the dress. Just to give you an idea of how the top especially will fit once on the body.
• The dress is made out of a beautifully weighted silk that he loved to use because it gave him the drape and fluidity that he wanted his pieces to have.
• The shoulders of the dress are padded with thicker rounded pads hidden inside. Falling from there and extending around to the back is a beautiful caped panel that drapes over the top of your arms and then folds up and under itself to create the draping around and down the back. He used a double layer of the silk for this panel so that when you move you see the pattern underneath. It is these exacting small details that always make a McQueen piece stand out.
• The front neck line is set in a draping cowl that sits over an inner V. The dress skims over the bust and waist and then widens out to curve over the hips.
• Yards and yards of fabric have been used to construct the skirt. It is set into the body of the dress on a curving seam that is beautiful. He often use these curving and angled seams that are throwback to Couture pieces of the 1920s and 30s and here he has used it beautifully. The silk in the skirt is all cut on the bias. The back trails out longer behind you and all of this adds up to spectacular movement around you when you move.
• This is a truly outstanding McQueen dress.
• The dress is fully lined in a black silk and closes with a hidden set partial mid-set zipper at the back whose placement is again a nod to the Couture pieces of the 20s and 30s. The shoulders are padded. It appears to have been worn very little if at all

• The twin of this dress walked the Spring 2016 runway for Look 34. 
• It was made under the creative direction of Sarah Burton.
• Vogue declared that it was the prettiest and most personal collection since she took over as the Creative Director at McQueen. Sarah declared that she wanted the collection to be "believable, touchable, soft.". Vogue's review noted that "The beautiful dresses speak for themselves. Everything about them in times when every camera phone has a zoom lens and can be examined in all their extraordinary detail, down to the finest stitches and the Couture level embroidery. 
• This was one of the series of lace pieces in the show and I love the contrasting black-and-white lace used for the dress and how it is all set on a nude netting.
• On the runway the front buttons were left open above and below a single closed button at the centre. A jewelled body harness was worn underneath and over the dress for added detail and it was styled over pants, showing how you are able to style this in many ways. 
• The dress is set high around the neck with cut outs between the straps that wrap around the neck and the ones curving over each shoulder. The front lace inset is a deep white ivory and it closes with black silk covered buttons that are all functional. Black lace panels wrap around you to the back.
• At the back you see the same combination of the white lace running down the centre of the dress and the black around the sides. Here there are deep open cut outs on either side of the white lace. There is another row of buttons there as well and these are also functional.
• Leaving buttons opened or fully close changes the look of the dress substantially.
• More buttons sit around the waist cut outs and you could in theory button them high and change how the dress sits. Leaving them open leaves the sides of your waist open and exposed.
• The skirt is absolutely magnificent. It is made out of layers of black lace set in overlapping ruffles. At the front there are two layers of ruffles and then the dress is quite open under that down the full front. We included a photo of an all white version of the dress from the runway so you can clearly see what length the front will fall once on the body.
• The skirt fall down from there on either side of you and curves around to the back. There are six layers of the ruffles and they are all set on a black lace backdrop. This gives the entire skirt a touch of transparency while at the same time the stacked ruffles play on that transparency. It is fantastically full by the bottom hem and you can see from the runway video how beautifully this moves. 
• This is an extraordinarily rare dress from the Sarah Burton era and it is absolutely exquisite in every way 
• The body of the dress is backed in a nude netting and the skirt is unlined. It buttons at both the front and back. It appears to have been worn very little if at all. If you wanted a more bare look you could wear boy shorts or a barer or more covered option underneath.
