I think this might be the best forties hostess piece I have ever had. First and foremost on this dress is the spectacular fabric used - it is that wonderful crisp cotton that you only seem to get in older vintage pieces. Very finely woven and light but with a crispness to it that helps keep the shape. This is then screened with a gorgeous geometrical striping set to form little diamonds that cover the dress from top to bottom. The front zips low into the skirt at the front and a tie belt allows you to cinch in the waist as you wish. I love the simple cap sleeves and the fabric detailing at the neck. A bit of flat black ribbon highlights the inset neck that is made of the same fabric set the opposite direction. The skirt is to the floor ans wonderfully wide - there is actually yards and yards of that gorgeous fabric in there. Excellent condition and appears to have been worn little if at all. Item# D420
A gorgeous late 1970s caftan done in a feather light, textured silk-cotton mix, almost chiffon-like fabric, that has gold metallic designs embroidered onto it. The caftan is cut supermodel long and is almost weightless - really floaty and light in feel. I love the dramatic and wide panel of embroidery work on the front and across the upper back. Everywhere else are little bits of the design. The back is very full and trails behind as it is very long at the back. It gives it a romantic, exotic feeling and really makes a dramatic statement. Each sleeve is left unlined and the are cut deep and long so that they billow and drape wonderfully. Excellent condition

This is an amazing 1960s bright printed dress in a wonderful array of pink, green and tangerine with white highlights. The colors alone typify the era and the print with its wonderful bold graphics are just the cream on the top! Made of a thicker cotton, almost with a canvas feel but not as heavy or unyielding as a true canvas would be. It is just enough weight to give it structure and help hold the shape. It buttons along the front and the skirt goes right to the ground. The print around the lower hem is spectacular! The waist nips in and the bodice is scooped. The sleeves mirror the print at the hem and have a wonderful huge poufed and full effect at the full bottom 8 inches of each of them. It is just gorgeous! Excellent condition and appears to have been worn little if at all. Item# D422
This is an amazing 1960s bright screened silk chiffon dress in a wonderful rich green with bits of pinks and purples and a pretty gold thread worked through it as well. Constructed of a a gorgeous chiffon and then lined with silks it weighs very little and feels fantastic when on. The skirt flows out over a more fitted lining in green silk and has an interesting visual effect around the hem created by the print. The bands of color and flowers that circle the lower hem is spectacular! The waist nips in and you can cinch it further with the fabric tie belt. The bodice is scooped and has a pretty feminine ruffle all around. The sleeves mirror the print at the hem and have a wonderful poofed effect with a ruffle at each cuff to mirror the neckline. It is just gorgeous! Excellent condition and appears to have been worn little if at all.

This is a fantastic little dress and capelet set. Made from a light weight polished silky rayon screened in shades of dusty pinks with pale blues mixed in to create the feel of a lovely watercolor of flowers. The skirt is not too full nor too slim. The top has a faux wrap neckline and no seams at the shoulder so it sits very prettily. Pretty flat bows sits daintily at the waist and I love how the bodice scoops into the skirting at the front and at the back. A matching simple capelet tops it and ends perfectly just above the waist. A really lovely set! Excellent condition

This gown is constructed from a silk taffeta that has a fantastic array of colors woven through the fabric - it is a more sophisticated take on the infamous multi-colored striped pieces of this era. Almost every color in the rainbow is represented in that fantastic fabric. The bodice is fitted strapless with light boning to hold it perfectly in place. I love the tiny row of tightly spaced buttons that run down the back - so much extra work and time would have been spent to add these instead of a zipper! The skirt is fantastic - full and with a built in wire around the hips to give it just a slight bit of lift and volume! A couture touch that really adds to the look of the piece. A killer flounced bit of fabric in a huge cross between a bustle and a bow is attached at the back in a matching fabric - so fabulously dramatic. Really a fantastic dress and in excellent condition.

An amazing late forties, early fifties dress makes a pretty yet dramatic statement. Black silk taffeta is the base upon which a second layer of lace is applied that follows the body of the dress except for the straps and edge of the top and around the hem. All the edges of the lace are cut and left so you really see the beauty of the edges. The waist nips in and the skirt is classically full full full! I love the notched collar and low V back. To make the back even more spectacular the lace straps on either side of a row of silk covered buttons that run all down the center! The final perfect finish is the spray of hand set rhinestones that run across the front collar. It is gorgeous! Excellent condition. Item# D432
An absolutely stunning and wonderful full length silk chiffon dress that I would bet my bottom dollar was a designer piece but sadly has no label. It is so fresh and modern in feel that it could be easily mistaken as a piece from the spring runways! The main body of the dress is bias cut so will drape to confirm and skim over the wearer's shape. It has a silk chiffon exterior layer and the color is absolutely fantastic - the exact exotic blue of the a perfect turquoise stone - even better in person then how it has photoed! The skirt has a gentle A-line and the top is cut high. A 2 inch border of bead work circles the neck and goes around and down the sexily scooped back. Following the scoop of the back is a silk chiffon train that flows down past the hem. Very Grecian goddess and very sexy. It is gorgeous and has that perfect rich, jet set chic feel! Excellent condition. Item# E433

The color of this gown is amazing - its not quite a yellow and its not quite a green but its more green then yellow! It is vibrant and amazing and if the color was not enough of an eye popper the amazing hand work done to the fabric just makes it amazing! This is British Crown Colony work and at the time it was the best bead and sequin work being done on the planet! The fabric is completely covered head to toe with rows of little faux pearls and zig zag bands of little silver tube beads. Various sized rhinestones set in metal prongs are scattered amongst all of that for a final bit of light catching flash. It is fitted and fabulous and follows every curve. A sensational pin-up worthy gown. It's a stunner and in excellent condition!

There is nothing quite as sexy as these fantastic seventies halter dresses that pretty much leave the back bare. Everything on this one works perfectly together. Constructed from a subtly textured bark cloth, the fabric is soft and easy to wear and it allows the color screened onto it to be bright and vibrant. The actual cut of this dress is actually quite simple - the sleeveless, deep V fronted halterneck bodice skims over the bust and then nips in at the waist. The full length skirt flares out into the perfect cut A-line. But turn around and the back has been scooped away almost entirely. The bold palette used to create that wonderful floral inspired design is fantastic. Excellent condition! Item# D437

This dress is a great example of that tubular, shift shaped 1960s silhouette and it is a little unusual because of the fabric. It still has its original paper tags attached inside that state that 30% of the fabric is real metal! The silver colored metal thread used and woven through it really goes it a beautiful glinting sheen and depth to the design. The colors are fabulous palette of creams, taupes and greys mixed with that silver thread. A classic shift dress sits under a zipped on outer shell. Even though we know it has metal running through it it surprisingly light and the fabric supple but with just a hint of structure to help hold that wonderful shape! Excellent condition

Simple and perfect little black dress from the fifties is the perfect basic over which you can style and change it up to suit any mood. I love the boat neck that gives the shoulders such a flattering line. Simple sleeves end at the elbow and the bodice is fitted and nips in at the waist. The seam there is pointed and the seaming through the bodice angles down into the front yoke to give the illusion of a small waistline and length.† This is mirrored at the back and the it has a sexy V exposure at the back as well. The skirt flares out and is quite full. I have put a crinoline under it so you can see the fullness, or you can wear it without! Its is very pretty and a great little dress. Excellent condition.

Love this early bohemian feel Hungarian embroidered piece that is really fabulous and quite special. You often see blouses but to see an entire dress is a much rarer thing. It is a lovely combination of red and black yarn stitching on light cotton base. The shoulder has extensive stitching so that it has a ruched and gathered feel and the embroidered patterns run in bold panels down each arm and through the dress. A second pattern in a white yarn adds a nice compliment and secondary pattern. The embroidery work looks like it is a combination of hand and machine work. The top can be worn on or off the shoulder and the skirt has three tiers all set atop one another. Its a super, unusual and pretty piece that is in great condition! Item# D440

It appears to have never been worn, or worn very little and has been stored properly for all these years so the colors are as crisp and vibrant as the day it was made! The design is just stunning. A truly amazing and fabulous early hostess gown that is perhaps one of the best I have ever had. It has the most unique and fabulous sleeves I have ever seen on a dress from this time period. They are complete and perfect circles - two circles on each arm attached around their circumference with blue piping sot that they pouf out when worn. I photoed them flat so you can see how wonderful they are! The rest of the gown is equally as fabulous. It flows to the ground and is constructed of a crisp, early cotton that has a stunning floral print screened onto it. The combination of red, white and blue is as classic as you can ask for. It wraps to close and can be worn done up the collar or open, The accompanying sash is a blue cotton and can be wrapped obi style or as a ling tie belt. It is wonderful! Mexican wedding dresses are works of art in my opinion and this is a beauty and a rare find in pristine white! Every inch of the base fabric has been stitched into even perfect little pin tuck pleats and they each line up perfectly with each other at every seam! Can you imagine the care to do that? Separating each row of that are bands of white lace through which you get the faintest glimpse of skin. The front is cut into a low V and the wide bell lace sleeves add grace. This one has attached ties at the waist so you can conch it further if you wish. Everything about this dress is beautiful and it is unremarkable, seemingly unworn condition!

In person this dress literally glows as if lit from within. The effect of the gold thread worked through the kitten soft chenille velvet it breathtaking. This piece is†surprisingly light, far lighter then you would think at first glance because the base is a silk chiffon that allows it stunning drape and airiness. Pinks in various shades of the softest possible glossed chenille are applied onto the silk chiffon and then eyelash gold lame worked in between. This makes the entire dress sparkle and glimmer with every movement of the wearer and the effect if beautiful. The cut† is simple so that the fabric can take center stage.† A high neck and simple bodice are balance by long sleeves and a skirt that cascades to the floor. This is surely a piece by a designer as the quality and attention to detail are all there but since there is no tag it will forever be a mystery! It is a beautiful, dramatic piece and in excellent condition. Item# E439
You can see the transition from the twenties flapper silhouette to the more fitted forties in this lovely dress. It is still cut loose through the waist but the waist seam is there and placed higher then its predecessors. The base is a silk crepe in black and onto this is a amazing swirled design in glossy black sequins. These cover the entire dress, back and front, top to bottom. The skirt is cut lean with a looser waist. The bodice is simple and cut slightly loose with a scooped neck and has been left sleeveless. Excellent condition and gorgeous!

I have had this tucked away forever! It is an amazing piece whose fabric was entirely hand-loomed! This is even more astonishing when you realize that the skirt is pieced together in panels and at each seam the chevron stripes line up perfectly. So this dress had to be meticulously planned out prior to its final construction to make that happen! It is made of a nubby, textured wool with a touch of nylon in the mix so it has some strength and hols its shape. The sleeves are long and lean and it wraps to close allowing the wearer to have as much of a plunge as she wished. The top is a basic black so very flattering. I love the edging that brings the color of the skirt to the top. The skirt is just amazing - there are yards of that hand loomed knit and it is long, long, long! It really is one of my most favorite knit piece I have ever had! A superb little piece and in great condition!

Fantastic silk taffeta party dress straight from the era that defined the cocktail party! This is wonderful and beautifully constructed piece made from a high grade silk taffeta in a deep deep pink with a washed floral screened pattern over it. The neckline is quite beautiful with a square cut whose corners are caught up in pretty silk rosettes made of the same fabric. I love how the shoulders are rounded and they swoop over each shoulder in soft pleats to be caught up in the corners of that neckline - its a delicate, feminine touch! The skirt is quite fitted and is cut long and lean with subtle flat pleats that allow the wearer to be able to move despite its strict seeming cut. The entire piece has the sculptural feel of the Balenciaga pieces of the day! No label but it has the feel of a high end piece. Excellent condition!

This is a great example of the hostess dress from the 1960s and the way small designers where taking fabric and using it for maximum effect. The fabric is a swirl of psychedelic pattern in pinks and purples and grounded by deep blues. Parts of the edges of the pattern are highlighted with different colored beads and also rows of pink sequins. It is very subtle but give the dress a touch of glimmer. The main part of the dress is cut with a loose fitting waist with a long skirt that falls to the floor with just the slightest of A-line as it nears the hem. The front plunges and the fabric is gathered and sewn into place by hand. The back is quite amazing with fabric that swoops down cape-like over the shoulders so when you move you get lots of movement and drama! Excellent condition

Amazing and unusual black silk wool crepe dress that is cut on the bias and fits fantastically when on and has a remarkable fringe detailing on the skirt! The dress itself is cut simply - a long lean skirt with just the slightest of an A-line cut to it. It nips in at the waist and the bodice is simple with a slight V neckline and a faux wrap effect that is caught up along one side. Each shoulder is gathered at the top and it has short cap sleeves. But to this simple dress they have added the most remarkable panels of silk cord fringe in asymmetrical panels so when you move they swing and move with you! The slanted application of these also helps to add length and curves to your figure! Excellent condition.

What a glorious 1940s swing dress! Made out of a black silk crepe that drapes wonderfully when on. It has that touch of thirties influence still with a slightly wider cut through the bodice and looser drape which makes it very flattering. The skirt is long and lean with a flat pleat detail high on one hip to give the suggestion of a swag and also to add to the illusion of a nipped in wast. Of course the showstopper on this dress is that spectacular flower that runs across the bodice and is done completely with hand applied sequins in greens, pinks ands silvers. The design is spectacular! This dress is everything you want in a 1940s piece and is a real jaw dropper. Excellent condition. Item# D449
Amazing, labeled black dress made from a light weight silk that is heavier then a scarf but not quite as heavy as a silk faille. This gives the dress drape but a bit of structure as well. Ir is very new look in cut with elbow length sleeves, a nipped in waist and a skirt that can be worn as shown or with a light crinoline under it for a fuller more dramatic feel. It is unusual in its remarkable detailing! The entire skirt has little embroidered details from which with fringe dangle. This is echoed at the V neck where a curving cord is hand applied and a silk tassels placed. Each sleeve has a little keyhole at its end and a bow with two more tassels. This gives the piece so much movement and interest! The original belt is stitched to the small of the back and adds extra definition for that perfect 40s hourglass! In excellent condition.

A wonderful and sexy 1950s cocktail dress that is really a thing of beauty! The fabric is the star here and and the dress is made of a luxurious silk satin in a deep, rich cream. Onto this is a washed floral design, whose blossoms are further emphasized by an applied velvet layer that adds texture and dimension to the fabric. It is just amazing - the silk velvet follows the colors of the flowers and gives the dress a rich and decadent feel. The cut is all bombshell vavoom. It is fitted and cut to follow every curve. It cinches in at the waist, curves over the hips and then narrows to a pencil skirt silhouette.† The bodice has a beautiful peaked sculptural detail at the neckline. Gorgeous and in excellent condition. Item# D452
A true femme fatale, film noir 1940s suit with the most dramatic and beautiful lines! The skirt is cut long and lean with the classic forties A-line silhouette that hugs the hips and then flares out at its hem. The jacket is an amazing feat of construction and drape. A silk taffeta in a deep glossy black is used - this fabric choice allows for a bit of structure and for the drape that the designer was after able to be achieved. The shoulders are lightly padded and round. The sleeves long and slim as the near each cuff. The bodice is cut full as was the fashion with a nipped in waist for that perfect seductive Va-Voom feel. Around the hips wraps a swag of fabric that encases the wearer and explodes into a dramatic draping along one side on the most exaggerated of forms. It is sexy and stunning! This dress has an unexpected sexy side to it. The front is amazingly pretty - the entire top of the bodice has a stunning cotton cut out lace applique that has been done in huge stylized circles. This is backed with nude netting to gives the appearance of being far barer then the wearer actually is. The waist nips in and the skirt is cut in a slim pencil silhouette. Over the hips lies a peplum in the same black silk crepe. The back is where the true sexiness lies. It buttons at the small of the back in a row of tightly spaced buttons and above that the nude netting opens to an almost inverted long diamond shape that is caught up at the base of the neck by a hook and eye. These leaves the back exposed and with the nude netting on either side to the lace looks like it is lying bare on your skin! Excellent condition and well made!

This is like an updated version of the earlier thirties striped hostess pieces. Except this is a mod feeling little cocktail or day dress from the swinging sixties! Cut on a slight A-line it is very simple with a loose fit body and simple ties attached at the waist. The sleeves are also simple and sleek. The simplicity of the cut allows that gorgeousness of the fabric to shine through. A black base has a ribbon like effect worked into the fabric with vivid stripes in purple, yellow and red! Excellent condition!

Unlined and closes at the back with a panted zipper. The belt is attached to each side of the dress and you can cinch it or wear it looser for a more shift feel. There is one tiny scuff to one of the purple stripes near the hem and side seam. It does not deter.

I did not realize that this dress had a flaw till I out it on the mannequin and noticed the run that goes down one side by the seam, Because of the nature of it and the way it runs and where it is placed I have decided to list it (at a loss) since I still feel it is wearable and is too sexy and fabulous not to potentially have a few more rounds out on the town with some fabulous girl. Made of a metallic gold knit it is cut to form to the body through the chest and waist and then flares out at the skirt to ground. The sleeves are skinny and fitted as well. I love the neckline - the way it is set allows you to tie the neck a few different ways and have the shoulders sit on or off. Other then the one flaw it is in great condition! Item# E444
Absolutely gorgeous 1940s dress with superb detailing! Made of an unusual salmon pink hued silk crepe with crisp lines that are very flattering. The skirt is classic swing with a long lean cut and slight flare as it nears the hem. The waist nips in and a jaunty pearl and sequin encrusted pocket sits on one hip. I love the scooped neckline with its rounded silk satin collar. That same silk satin adorns each cuff and the pocket for a chic finish. The pearls and sequin detailing that sits under the collar is fantastic! Lovely lines, well made and a stunning details - all add up to a really wonderful example of how fabulous dresses were from this era! It is a beautiful, classic dress, that is wonderfully made and in excellent condition.

Hips: 19.5" flat across from side seam to side seam of the lining
Bodice: 16" from shoulder to waist
Skirt: 28" from waist to hem
Unlined and closes with a side painted metal zipper. There is a sequin missing on the very top of the design on the shoulder but it is not readily apparent nor does it detract. The color is more of a pink then shown - the light parts pf the close-up of the label is closest to the true color. Also the pearls are not yellowed - it is a trick of the lighting.

Super rare and super chic seventies silk chiffon wide legged pant with an amazing, sexy peplum detailed top and the set still has its original silk chiffon sash as well! I love the amazing color combination with its blue based red silk chiffon and a subtle graduated soft blue leaf pattern that is screened onto the silk from top to bottom. It has a chic, jet set hippie feel. The pants are flat fronted and fully lined with a defined waist. The flow out form the hip to a wide leg! The top is gorgeous with a bit of a forties feel to it - it has a gathered front, nipped in, defined waist and a wonderful peplum hip. The neck is high with a rolled bit f a silk to make the collar and each sleeve poufs slightly above its cuff. The long silk chiffon sash wraps and ties at the waist. Together they are a strong statement but you can also break then up and wear them separately! Amazing set and in excellent condition!

Absolutely gorgeous 1950s dress in a deep and pretty blue silk. I love the cut of the dress with its lean skirt that skims over the hips and ends just past the knees. The waist is nipped in and cam be cinched in further with the matching original belt. I love the curved sweetheart neckline and the sleeves are just amazing! Each poufed cap sleeve has a little open are running down its top for a sexy glimpse of skin! It is a beautiful, classic dress, that is wonderfully made and in excellent condition. Item# D459
A gorgeous silk organza maxi dress with an amazing print that has bits of gold thread worked through it! The bodice is fitted with long sleeves and a high neckline. The skirt flows to the floor from the waist with lots of beautiful fabric in it. The pattern is subtle but with those pretty pops of coral to highlight the flowers of the print. I love the bit of gold that is woven through the fabric. It really allows the light to catch it as you move for a subtle nit of glitz. When on it is light and easy to wear but there is weight to it at the same time because of the metal ring detailing that is done around the neck and the waist. These rings are carried down each side of the hip as well. Each is secured like a little doorknocker to a gold metallic thread braiding. It gives the dress a nice polished and finished feel and a little extra detailing that works! Excellent condition

This British Crown Colony silk gown is absolutely stunning. The fabric is a silk dupioni in a beautiful cream color that has a touch of a gold hue to it! It has an air of refinement and elegance to it through the combination of the silk and the thick panels of beading. The dress itself is a simple cut - a scooped collar is set on both the front and the back. The body of the dress is a simple sheath that skims the body to the ground with a slight A-line. Vertical seaming allows the waist to curve in without breaking the line with an actual seam across the waistline. Beautiful trails of gold vines run over the dress in vertical panels with flowers adoring the vines and coral and red beads highlighting the entire pattern! These are extremely well done and all glass beads - it not only adds a wonderful glint and sparkle to the dress but it also gives the weight that rich, heavy feel that you only get with vintage beaded pieces! Wonderful piece and in excellent condition.
The dress is fully lined in a fine grade cream tissue silk. It closes with a back painted metal zipper. The inside seams are finished with a ribbon edging and are hand done. There is a small amount of beads missing off the top of each shoulder but it does not deter from the overall look and is only mentioned for accuracy. Each hip has been let out slightly and you can faintly see the stitch line.

The exterior of the dress is fashioned out of light black silk crepe that has a slight waffle weave feel to it. The fabric is amazing and the cut of this dress is really astounding and as good as it looks off the hanger it is more amazing on a body! It has a high neckline with a† almost cowl neck, draped collar with a pointed front. The top skims over the bust and has little gathers and pointed seam work just under the bust to emphasize. The sleeves are really amazing - they are huge and cut to pouf and balloon out over the wrist - you can see where later designers like Biba and Ossie Clark got their inspiration from! The waist starts high under the bust line and skim over the waist and swings out over the hips in a delicious swoop. It has an attached back belt made of the same fabric with a slide buckle. even the buckle is special - it has a bit of a art deco feel with a two slanted sides. It is only upon the closest of inspection that you realize the genius of the dress. Those patterns worked into the sleeve appear to be screened on. They are actually fabric that is edged so finely and placed into the black that you don't realize they are a separate piece of fabric till you see the back. And each of those designs - they are the finest hand embroidered bits! Truly a piece of history and a work of art - I strongly feel this in an unlabeled piece of the highest design - possibly couture. A superb example of this time period and in excellent condition.

Unlined and slips over the head, It closes at the side with a series of snaps and each cuffs has hidden snaps. The belt is attached and has an early plastic buckle. There is one repaired pinhole on the back hip near the snap side opening. It looks old and has been left. It does not detract at all - I am just being very picky and accurate. The color is a true black - note that in very bright sun the fabric is starting to take a purpleish cast near the arms and other areas where skin would have touched it. In normal or darker light it present as perfect. If not for this I would have priced it several hundred dollars more as it is remarkable.

In person this piece has so much depth and texture - it is really fabulous! The base fabric is a pale baby pink organza layered over the inner pale pink lining. The top layer is then beaded with little rows of seed beaded interspersed with gold metallic thread to form a checked pattern. Inside each resulting diamond is a cluster of plastic beading done to suggest little florets! It is a much truer baby pink in person then how it photoed - think that perfect girlie soft pink rather then the almost peach tone is has in the photo!! The beads are a stark white against that pink back drop and the gold adds a bit of a rich glint. I love the classic Twiggy sixties era silhouette of it - its that perfect shift shape that makes a girl look all legs! Excellent condition!

Bust: 17" flat across from side seam to side seam
Waist: 16" flat across from side seam to side seam
Hips: 18" flat across from side seam to side seam
Bodice: 37" from neck to hem
Fully lined in a matching pale pink silky rayon and it closes with a hand set back painted metal zipper. Note the color is a true soft baby pink in person - far more feminine than how it photoed. Here and there there the plastic beads that form the florets have a missing "leaf or a broken one" but no major bare areas or big detractors. The belt will be included but for me it works better without. The belt has a slightly faded appearance but is still presentable as pictured.

This is an absolutely stunning example of the 1940s film noir, femme fatale dress. It is a masterpiece of drape and the fabric is equally wonderful. A matte crepe silk has a couple dancing worked into and through the silk in a relief that has a slight matte silk satin feel to it. These swirl across the dress and add a beautiful second layer of texture and interest. The cut of this piece is amazing and worthy of any of the great current designers who specialize in drape and cut., The shoulders are string with light padding and the sleeves narrow and button in a row at each wrist, The waist nips in and the skirt drapes on the bias to form a stunning draped creation. It narrows at the hem and at the front is a bias cut draped panel that emphasizes a girls shape without adding any bulk or volume on the actual hips. Genius and in excellent condition.

Unlined and bias cut so drapes amazingly. It closes with a short back painted metal zipper at the neck and a side, painted metal zipper. Each cuff has 5 fabric covered buttons and fabric loops to close. Light padding in the shoulders original to the dress. The draping at the front forms a sort of "cheat" half pocket on either side of the center seam.

Exceptional and unusual little black silk dress with a label attributing it to Zoe - who created demi-couture made to order pieces in Toronto in the fifties and early sixties. The dress has a definite couture like feel and is rather edgy for its time period of the late fifties to early sixties. The base is constructed from a luxurious silk that has an almost sueded feel to it and then it was lined in silk as well. It is very light weight because of the fineness and quality of the silk used. It is a simple sheath with a seam at the waist that only gives a hint of shape and a high neckline. Over this is has the most avant grade draping! The back has an almost sack back drape to it which extends across the front in and narrows into two little pointed corners. One corner is permanently attached to the opposite side seam and the other hooks into place. It is very unusual and distinctive & very chic. Very Balenciaga. Excellent, appears unworn condition!

I think this may be one of my very favorite 1960s pieces to have come in a while! I really wish I could convey the feeling of that beautiful fabric and how it present in person. It was a tough piece to photo and I can only assure you that it is even better in person! It is classic femme fatale wiggle and is a touch larger then most pieces you find that were teeny tiny things making an even greater treasure! The fabric is very beautiful - the base is a black silk matte satin and the velvet fused onto the fabric in a way that gives it a 3 dimensional feel. The velvet is a rich deep red that has a touch of a pink hue to it. I love the curved, slanted rows of seaming just above the waist that goes up and around the bust line. Two charming little bows sit just at the top of the seaming that goes down through the waist! It skims and hugs the hips and the back is set low. So sexy and so chic! Excellent, appears unworn condition.

This is a beautiful early 1930s gown in the most striking brilliant blue! The dramatic color combined with the bias cut, sensual fabric is just stunning! It has a beautiful cut to it as well - the bodice is draped and has those classic intricate ruching that runs across each shoulder. Each cap sleeves has extra pleat work set at the top of each. The front plunges to the slightly empire waist and crosses over itself at the front to maintain the wearers modesty. The skirt is cut completely on the bias. There is a lot of fabric in it but when you stand still it falls in one beautiful sleek column and i is only when you move that the amount of fabric that is actually there is revealed. I love the double row of open circle, rhinestone encrusted buttons that are hand placed and sewn on the waist detailing. A matching velvet cord runs through them to give it a corseted effect. Well made and hand finished - its a beauty! Excellent condition!

What a wonderful dress! This puts all the things we love about a 50s dress into one fabulous piece! Made of a crisp 1950s cotton that has been screened with a gorgeous abstract pattern in blues, greens and purples. The top has that classic rounded shoulder and slim cut. The sleeves go to the elbow and are cut straight and somewhat wide. I love the high notched collar - it creates a pretty frame for the face, The waist nips in and you can emphasize it further with the original fabric covered belt, It curves over the upper hips and then a low wide skirt is attached with a precise series of knife pleats. This is one of those vintage coats that is very understated at first glance but the more you look at it the more you are in awe of the fine workmanship and attention to the small details. I am not 100% pleased with how it photoed as it is so much better in person and really needs a real girl in it to show off how wonderful it sits on a body. Made of a fine wool whose color is an interesting shade of a deep ink blue with an undertone of purple to it. No single detail is meant to stand out but as a whole it is quite stunning. The top is cut almost suit style with large fabric covered buttons and a small neat collar. The waist nips in and it has fantastic side peplums made of fabric layered atop each other The skirt of the coat is cut to appear fairly straight at the front but all those vertical panels of fabric gradually widen as they near the hem so as soon as you move you get the feeling of fullness and swing. The inside silk lining is immaculate and the abundance of seam work is wonderful to see! It is exception and wonderfully made and hand finished! Labeled Peggy Borton. Excellent, appears unworn condition.

Vavoom! This little navy cotton dress is the stuff femme fatale are renowned for! The silhouette is pure bombshell with a nipped in waist, sexy halter top and barely there back. The skirt is classic wiggle and cut to follow every curve. I love the huge front pockets that are cut to sit out for the dress and further emphasize the hourglass shape! It is darling and perfect for resort and summer! Excellent condition

Super sexy printed plaid 1950s swimsuit that can double as a playsuit for a really brave girl. It's made from that high grade cotton that one only finds from this time period. It is cut in that classic pin-up bombshell style of the day - all curves and sexiness missed with girl next door innocence. The top is halter style, with two straps and a built in foundation. A pretty tiered row of ruffles goes down the front highlighted with pretty white buttons. Each side has a panel of elastic gathers allowing for maximum comfort and a perfect fit. I love this very chic, Balenciaga feeling silk 1950s cocktail dress. It is a definite nod to the silhouette most popular in the highest circles of fashion at that time. The bodice is set high above a banded waistline. The shoulders move seamlessly into wide cut above the elbow sleeves. The neckline is rounded and high. The bead work that adorns the neck is fantastic and continues down over the bodice and onto the sleeves. Matte charcoal faux pearls, rhinestones and little glass jet beads make up the beautiful pattern. The skirt has soft pleats just under the waist band for a touch of fullness and to emphasize the slightly rounded shape and then it narrows in at the knee. Really a little gem! Excellent condition.
