Amazing 1970s Scott Barrie Pink Silk Jersey Wrap Jumpsuit
Scott Barrie is renowned for designing sexy, sometimes outrageous clothing and was particularly adept in the use of silk chiffon and silk jersey. Which is exactly what we have here - a sexy, fluid silk jersey dyed to a shocking, vivid pink. The fabric is slinky and sensual and the cut extremely flattering. Wide fluid legs add supermodel height. The halter top twists and wraps around the bodice to create a strapless, fitted effect with long ties that you can wrap more around the waist or leave hanging as I have. Barrie's models were known for strutting and dancing down the catwalk in a way that seemed to infuse each piece with pure joy. His dresses often had wrapped bits or ties like this one does and I always love finding a piece that really showcases a strong element from a designer's aesthetic. The color is very flattering on a wide range of skin tones and his piece are rapidly becoming highly collectible. Barrie was one of the great American designers and this is an exceptional piece from him. Excellent condition!
The pants are unlined and the wrapping of the long attached panels of fabric make the base bodice part its own lining. It closes with a back zipper and has elastic running through the top of the bodice. Slight scuffing and minor marks to the fabric here and there but it presents perfectly once on - these are things you see when its off and lying flat in bright light. Hand finished inside
